Rathburn assigns a work load far in excess of a 3 credit class. She takes forever to return the many papers she assigns. If you want a good grade, learn to love Dell,Starbucks, and e-commerce. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Ridiculously hard tests and way too many papers to write. She is a tough grader as well. Avoid at all costs.
2 major exams, 1 online stock project, 2 case studies, quizzes nearly every class, 2 written analysis of course readings, 4 online discussions, and 16% of grade dependent upon attendance; all for a 3 credit class. AVOID at all COSTS.
Does not respond to questions. Tons of work and really no learning happening here. She won't be here next semester so you don't have to worry.
Very difficult grader & not a lot of direction in what she wants. A lot of work in this class. I heard the other section has it made.
This professor does not obey the presented syllabus and has vague requirements; expect to have great discrepancies between her demands/expectations and your projects
She treats you like a high school student
Unclear explanation Meaningfuless project
U have 2 do a 10 min video project doing something 4 the community that helps u in no way; BUT easy A, and it is majority of your grade. Class is boring BUT it is an easy A. All tests are multiple choice take home. An online 10 question quiz is do every week. Easy! She is kind of a pushover. She is almost TOO laid back. Clicker attendance
TERRIBLE professor. I took this class online and she takes at least a week to respond to questions. Unclear instructions and treats you terribly. Very hard grader and does not provide feedback. She told me "I don't work on the weekends" which is why assignments haven't been graded for the past month now.
This business administration class was supposed to be an easy fluff class but this teach made it impossible. She would give out quiz's daily about the things she was supposed to teach us in class before she taught them. She talked fast and her slide shows were pointless. I busted my balls to get an A, i read every page of the book. She's horrible.
Makes quizzes on stuff before we learn it
This was one of the easiest classes I have taken at UWM so far. All your exams are take home exams and quizzes are online. This Professor does take awhile to give your grades back but has interesting lectures and offers alot of extra credit. Some of her assignments aren't very clear though.
Takes foreever to get grades back. Thank your lucky stars that you have take-home exams, because she writes some of the worst questions ever! You have to reference the textbook almost every time just to understand what she's asking. Her lectures simply gloss over topics while the exams want extraordinary attention to detail.
Take home exam questions are ridiculous. A simple question ends up being complicated one with complicated multiply choice answers.
HORRIBLE! This class is all busy work. I dont see what any of the assignments have anything to do with the course! Why do I have to know how to make a 10 min movie if I am a business student?!? Wish I never took this course with her! Way too much work for a 3 credit course!
I've had mix opinions of her. In the beginning of class I was not happy with her at all. But as the class comes to an end I've given her more respect now. She's tough but really does care that every student does well in her class.
Busy work, busy work, busy work. 6 people in a semester long group project, so I've had to miss some of my other classes in order to find time to meet with everyone. Her exam questions are strange and ambiguous, so be thankful if she offers exams/quizzes online so you can reference the textbook. Terrible class. Terrible professor.
Good professor. Learned a lot
Boring, mind numbing class but she makes up for it by giving out A's like they're candy.
More work compared to other classes, but you will learn something that will help you in the future. She is very helpful and extremely fair with grading. Do the work and you should get an A.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! She is an extremely hard grader and only AFTER she grades does she tell you what she was looking for. Also changes everything about the class every week, it was impossible to follow, even she couldn't remember the changes she made. Probably the worst teacher of my college career. AVOID, do yourself the favor now.
Make sure you fallow directions to the T! she is a very strict grader and has you going many steps in order to complete a project, which in the online section there are 4 large projects. I didn't really find her class helpful, the emphasis was more on presentation and formatting than on actually learning behaviors. I wouldn't take it again.
There are NO EXAMS! Four projects during the semester. First two are very very easy. 3rd one is a 3 minute slideshow. 4th is a group proj. Show up to class. Show up to discussion. Follow the guidelines for proj & syllabus and its an easy A. Busy work but an EASY A.
Easy A. However, I'm still not sure whether the point of the class was just to do projects. I don't feel like the material was gone over very well. Honestly I would have rather had exams and felt like I actually learned something from the class. The projects were not helpful at all.
All project based but not like quick easy projects like a few hour projects every other week along with quizzes, note taking, reports and all this other crap. She's not an easy grader with all her busy work either. I'm not doing bad in the class but it is hard to keep up with and keep track. Super monotoned. BORING.
Horrible teacher. Changes her mind every week. She is not clear on what needs to be done and grades terrible. I would avoid this teacher.
Appreciated what was taught in class for classes I have had since. The projects (4) that we were graded on did help with the foundation for future classes.
Mainly project based. Points for attendance. You need the Orgs textbook for sure. Project directions are slightly unclear, but just watch Jude or the TA's examples and you should be fine. Lots of extra credit points available. NO TESTS!
Basically she comes to lecture and just talks to 150 students about literally nothing. She makes attendance mandatory solely so ppl will actually come and listen to her. Not a fast grader at all and there is constant busy work and tedious steps to follow on each project. She is OK at best.
She is a good teacher. She has specific guidelines for each project. If you follow her guidelines, you will do well. Lots of opportunity for extra credit. You also need a clicker for this class for participation credit.
i took this inline during winterim. This class was a major PITA! 2 media projects that were more about learning what upgrades your computer needed to do them and just a ton of work. I have never experienced a winter class like this. Dr. Jude overall seems nice and like a good instructor.
Avoid this class if you can, especially for online! It is very confusing trying to get all of her nit-picky details, she will take points of for anything she can. Very hard teacher to talk to shes very rude. Don't take this class.
Jude is not a bad teacher but this class is boring and pointless. Attendance is required. I felt like I was back in middle school learning how to make a powerpoint. The class is easy. You will do fine if you go to class and turn in the projects on time.
I took her class a year ago and she was a great teacher. She kept class fun and the projects were easy. Her assistant Kevin was awesome as well. I highly suggest taking her.
Very easy class if you actually go. Was very interesting and enjoyed the class. No exams which is nice and projects were easy.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. She is extremely unclear, constantly makes mistakes, and lies about when she will get grades in. She teaches organizations, but is EXTREMELY unorganized. Class is a joke and simple, but she makes it much more complicated than it needs to be.
Took 330 during winterim. A ton of work!! I have taken classes over the summer online and none compare to this. I would skip the online version and take it on campus.
3 projects, given step by step instructions for each of them. Notes are graded so attending class is a must. Open notes for midterm, take home final. Easy class.
Interesting class discussions. Cares a lot of the students and the scholars program. Always willing to answer questions. Interactive projects. A lot of opportunity for extra credit.
This is an easy A! When you get the work for the semester it seems like a lot but its not. Weekly lecture notestext notes (which they do not even open and read just get 100% if its submitted) STRICT guidelines on how to submit, but its petty easy things that you just need to pay attention too. 3 projects that are a joke they were so easy.
The easiest class I have ever took. If you do homework and show up to class discussions and lecture you will get an A. Also lets you drop your lowest exam score. She also gave lots of extra credit for poll everywhere and at the end of the semester gave 12 points of extra credit for just taking a survey. GREAT CLASS. Highly recommend her!
Treats this class and easy material like it's a 5 credit course. Everything has to be done HER way so it takes away every chance to be creative on projects. Very rude and disrespectful when I'd come to talk to her. The last project is worth a huge portion of your grade, and if one person didn't submit a final survey, everyone gets a 0. Very poor
Her organizations class is pretty annoying. Not because any of it is hard, its just SO MUCH work, mostly pointless stuff. But it depends, do you want to get a B and take one of the other teachers that grades just exams, or do you want an easy A with rathburn, but have to do a ton of miscallenous projects and pointless assignments to get the A?
She is an organizations teacher yet she is so unorganized. Took the online version and she would always give us a date as to when grades for projects would be up and she rarely met the deadline. VERY easy class, she is just annoyingly nit-picky and ironically unorganized. Btw, don't both buying Presenation Zen, you use it for only a week of class.
This was an interesting class. Jude is extremely detailed and meticulous. She wants things done exactly the way she has in mind, but sometimes her directions are so detailed they become confusing. Not a hard class, but pretty time consuming.
The class is extremely easy to pass if you put in the effort. 2 individual projects, 1 final group project, and 1 final take home exam. Book is necessary, can find Presentation Zen in PDF form online for free. The class is a lot of unnecessary bullsh*t like submitting surveys to receive credit. Participation is necessary in class and discussion.
Organizations is such a waste of a course, Jude does her best to give it content but its hard to teach a class that shouldn't exist. Her final was hard not because the concepts are difficult but to grade on something so easy she has to test on the smallest things that are impossible to find in your textbook so even a take home exam is tough.
She has an attitude. She has 3 projects instead of tests and the final exam is online. I would make sure to do all the homework assignments. She has a contribution bonus (50 points) if you complete 80% of the homework. If you dont do at least 80% of the homework the contribution bonus will only hurt you (it is NOT extra credit).
She's crazy, so much work that doesn't teach you much. Busy work is an understatement.
4 projects (one with a group of your choosing), weekly discussions and weekly surveys. If you are not organized, do not take online, it can get confusing. Books are needed but projects are easy and can be interesting. Gives out bonus points if you submit them easy. Should be an easy A if you put in the work and effort. Nice and responsive to emails
This class is irrelevant and only requires a bit of common sense. The problem with this class though is that there is an ungodly amount of work to do. Every week there are notes due that are from the book, the project outlines she provides are unclear and too long to understand, and the final exam is long and difficult.
She is really nice, but you have some weird concepts in that class such as her recommending to use a chime and a talking piece for when you speak. Her final is really hard in my opinion but with all the other assignments you can get an A. Make sure to follow her directions exactly! for you DMP projects and she will doc you an unreasonable amount!
Has an attitude. You can email her questions and her responses are very prompt, however if you try to ask her more than 1 Q she tells you to make an appt. Course was on organizations, but I felt it was more a digital art class with the unrelated projects assigned. Lots and lots of homework. Does her best to make the online class an in person class
Makes the class very project focused. Last project is a group project and is worth 20% of your grade so be aware of that if you have to take the course online. Assigns A LOT of unnecessary homework. With the overload, you don't learn much as there is no time absorb it or study the textbook.
The easiest class you will ever take, no tests, get graded on in-lecture and in-discussion worksheets along with chapter notes submitted weekly. DO NOT BUY PRESENTATION ZEN! you can find the pdf online free Also you can buy the international copy of the text book for much cheaper, and has the same material. 4 projects throughout semester also easy!
Probably one of the most useless classes at UWM. Definitely should not exist. But, Jude is really a caring professor. The projects are tedious and there is a decent amount of busy work, but the only decent part of this class is Jude. Easy enough to get a B or higher.
Cool teacher. Very relaxed and had entertaining lectures. Every lecture was not your typical college lecture. She hates the idea of using powerpoint to list out details. Occasionally, the lecture and/or discussion was actually a lot of fun or highly entertaining.
Rathburn tries to promote creativity and individuality, but will penalize you hard if you do not fit the exact mold she had in mind while designing the projects. The entire experience ends up feeling contrived. If you take the class online, be prepared to do a lot of busy work. She took four weeks to grade projects.
One of the best profs I've ever had. Nice human, great class, and I learned a lot. This class is not about killing you with material. Her style of teaching is different. She cares about effort and participation. Her style of teaching makes going to class actually enjoyable and its the main reason her teachings have resonated with me.
Great prof. Lectures are long and each class requires coursework. 4 projects, media projects. Last one is a group project. +one final take home exam. lots of weekly homework, readings... overall n easy class and an "easy A if you do the work as expected"
She thinks that she is breaking the mold with her power point presentations but the way she harps on every little detail is annoying. She's very anal about little things, and then tries to justify it by saying the world is anal. then continues to drone on to drive the point home. It's an easy class, but she takes attendance every day.
Makes you do so much unnecessary note taking as homework. The project guidelines are not very clear. Would not recommend. Not sure how I got an A in the class.
3 projects, 1 take home final exam. Weekly notes due and discussion. Easy class as long as you listen. Textbook heavy so be prepared to read. Although people say this class is useless I would say otherwise. It teaches students a lot about business organizations, behavior, principles, skills to be successful in life, interactions/communications
This professor should be President of the United States. Take this class. A national treasure. Best professor ever!
Took BUS 330 online; the class was easy but there's a lot of work. Discussion and replies plus notes on the assigned chapter every week. There are 3 digital visual projects throughout the class and also a final group project. Choose your group wisely! The final exam questions were given one week prior to the exam so make sure to go over them.
This was an awful course, but we all have to take it because of business school requirements. There were 3 projects that were meant to be creative, but if you do not follow her idea of creative you will lose at least 20 points each assignment. Stay on top of assignments and you will pass. DO NOT BUY PRESENTATION ZEN. It is online for free as a PDF.
I am taking BUS 330 this summer and I would recommend this professor to other students. This professor cares about students!
This professor wants to see you succeed as a student! I would recommend this course and professor to other students, because it will be unique to an other course you will probably take for your major. With my major - I did not have any digital experience but this course definitely taught me a lot!!
I thought Jude was great and she really wants to see her students succeed in what they do!!!!
BUS330 is a 100 level course labeled as a 300 level course. Jude assigns busy work, due Saturday night. Only professor I've ever had that didn't make Midnight on Sunday the deadline for weekend assignments. The lectures were often full of useless information, and lack luster. Projects can be time consuming because you have to upload them to YouTube
Very very very boring lectures. Wastes lots of paper. Class material is a joke. Don't buy Zen book. Professor is very monotone.
You don't NEED to go to lecture, but you will miss out on participation points if you choose not to go. the only exam is the final and it's take-home open notes.
Jude takes this pointless class very seriously. Expect a lot of tedious projects that she will grade extremely harsh on (25% points off if you don't title your paper right!), vague instructions, and very boring material that is all common sense. Easy class, but a lot of work. It sucks that its required because it's a wast of money.
There's a lot of projects and you have to have everything the exact way she wants. Which is hypocritical since she talks about being creative and using your ideas, yet you have to follow a very strict guideline. Make sure your script matches word for word, otherwise she'll take points off, even if it's some small words that don't add any meaning.
Easy class but so boring &the material is useless. The group project in the end is very annoying. She also takes points off for the littlest things I submitted my project at 11:59 but the time it uploaded was 12:00 so I emailed her right away to let her know what happened &she still count it as late. Extra points provided throughout the semester.
You get participation points each lecture, Your grade will hurt if you don't get those easy points. She gives a TON of extra credit throughout the semester. pay attention to those opportunities. get the textbook! you'll need it every week of the semester. only 1 exam all semester (The final) and it's a take home exam. follow the rubric on projects!
One of the easiest classes you can take. Yes, lectures can get boring, but just show up and do a short worksheet for easy points. Projects 1-3 are simple. Just cover the criteria listed in the project description and get full credit. The last project can get to be quite a handful. if you aren't lazy this class is an easy A for you.
This class had a ton of busy work in it. She has you turn in notes for grades and has a worksheet in class everyday to make you be there.
Pure academic with little real world application
This professor was the worst I've had at UWM. It's like she knows the class is mandatory so she makes it hard on purpose. Had to purchase 2 books. Had to write notes on every single chapter in each book. Also, daily activities in class for participation grades. Also, she almost hit me with her car once when I was crossing a cross walk. Good luck!
Instructor Rathburn's class has weekly discussion post due every Wednesday and then responses to peers are due Saturday. These are mandatory. Also notes on the textbook are due every Saturday as well. There are 4 projects due during the semester. The last project is a team project. There is a midterm exam and a final exam. She responds to emails.
Jude was the worst professor of my college career. She gives the term "Busy Work' a WHOLE new meaning. She will make you submit notes every week as if your in high school. She provides overly detailed guidelines for everything, then will take points off based on her opinions rather than requirements. DO EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO AVOID TAKING HER!
This class would have been fine if she actually had an organized syllabus/ due dates. I literally have no idea when there are random things due because her syllabus is so messy. It will say one thing on the calendar but then it won't mention little things your supposed to do to get full credit in the class. Very Very messy teacher.
I took her online in the summer for BUS 330 ONLINE. It was an easy class, the group project is little annoying but its just busy work. Easy class to get an A in if you do everything on time. Literally, take this class online you will not regret it im telling you!
Took the scholars version of this class. Grade is based on 4 projects, one of which is a group project, mandatory attendance, and weekly notes (busy work. She doesn't read). No exams besides final, which is only worth 10%. Unless you are a psychology major lost in the business school, you won't enjoy this class, but it is required and super easy.
You are required to take notes each week on a chapter of the book. Honestly, super easy. She has fairly interesting lectures and very little work outside of the class is required. I would definitely consider this an easy A class as long as you do your work with a "good faith effort" as she likes to say. Very inclusive!
Terrible professor , she is very specific even if you do work and submit it and work hard if you dont name the file specifically the same you will get a 0. She is ridiculous
I took the online version so I would never have to go to one of her Lectures. Easy class, Ive just never had to do so much work that is so meaningless. Her pickiness is ridiculous. This class is so unimportant. Makes you do a group project in an online class? I didnt learn anything in this class. It was boring and uninspired. Forced to take.
The EASIEST online class you can ever take. Lots of busywork. Professor Jude also is extremely picky and wants to title every assignment in a particular way. 2.5 easy projects. 1 group project. She offers lots of extra credit; turn in your assignments early. Do your work, and get an easy A.
If you don't attend class, you're participation will be awful and you'll take some massive hits. Pointless class that doesn't matter towards any degree but still mandatory. Extremely picky when it comes to notes and file names. Overall wish class would be removed as it's pointless but easy B/A.
Class is unimportant. Professor only talks about herself. Makes the biggest deal over the littlest things. Treats college kids like 5 year olds. Requires notes to be turned in and then will fail you based off your own notes because theyre not good enough?!?! If that makes any sense.
This class was the biggest waste of time. The content is very fluffy and common sense. I've never felt so cheated out of tuition money. You have to attend class and suffer through the hippie dippy lectures Jude puts together. She talks about powerpoint rules but its dumb bc literally no professor follows them except her...
This class was a waste of my time and money. I feel like all we did in this class was learn how to communicate in groups. 4 projects, all with lots of busy work. Worksheets in every lecture, required community service. Professor left for weeks in the semester to go to Africa.
This class was the BIGGEST waste of money. The lecture content doesn't even relate to what she makes you take notes on to turn in for credit each week, but the kicker? She won't give you any credit if you don't NAME THE FILES THE CORRECT WAY. I cannot believe that I had to take this class for credit.
this class is the BIGGEST joke I have ever taken in Lubar. Final exam is nothing even familiar what you do in lecture, and you do worksheets EVERY lecture. Assignments have to be named so specifically if you even miss one thing it will be a 0. I hated that I wasted my money on this class, and the class wasn't even a helpful class. Readings too.
honestly, I didnt learn anything in this class, and was the epitome of a useless waste of time. I honestly feel I was cheated out of a useful class. The DMP projects are just busy work that take massive amounts of time, and The final is nothing like weve discussed in class. In closing, this was by far the most frustrating course Ive taken
I cannot tell you how frustrating this class was for me. I am so angry that I spent so much time doing NOTHING. I learned NOTHING in this class. I spent valuable time doing her ridiculous assignments rather than spending time on my other important classes I will be speaking to the dean about why this class is mandetory.
The class is self is pretty easy, I took it online. Every week we had to read a chapter, take notes and turn them in. This makes no sense and I didn't learn anything. She doesn't understand that the students are completing her homework to just finish it, rather than try and learn the material. The material is pointless and provides no real value.
Worst professor I have ever taken!! She structures her class horribly, she gives you such busy work. I learned absolutely nothing throughout this course. If I was able to give a zero I would have. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
BUS330 will feel extremely common sense if you have taken a college level psychology course as it's basically business psychology. A lot of busy work as others have noted, do not take as part this class if you have a busy semester, it eats up free time-- weekly notes submissions, discussion forum posts, etc. She is extremely nice however.
Terrible. This professor treats college students like elementary school students and is 100% self-absorbed. Tons of busy work and minimal learning; put the checks in the boxes and get the most condescending A of your academic career. Professor is clearly a career academic who's never actually worked in the real world according to her CV. Avoid.
