Fairly easy class, but you have to go and take a lot of notes. Tests are exactly from the notes and readings....pretty interesting lectures, made me like Sociology...would recommend this course!!

Just because someone tells the truth, it doesn't mean they're shoving "liberal propaganda" down your throat. Whites can enjoy the course just as much as any minority. Real easy and very interesting.

average easiness--watch movies at least once a week. fairly entertaining lectures with good stories. however, pintar tends to make whites feel awkward and out of place and caters to the minorities in the class and how bad they have things. got sick of it

She's an awesome instructor and she is always sooo energetic. She keeps your attention, especially since the class is like 3 hours long!

Awesome teacher, her lectures were very interesting. Favorite class that I have taken at UIUC. Make sure you get a TA that you understand, Ezekiel Flannery was awesome, also. You can tell she knows what she's talking about, definitely take SOC 100, as long as you moderately study for the midterm and final, its an easy A.

The thing wouldn't let me put down all the awesome classes I had with Judith, so yeah, I had 100, 229, and 2- 396 classes, which all have different numbers now since U of I switched over the numbering my last semseter. So technically now its like 100, 329, 2-496, and I had a 490 class with her. Best teacher I have ever had in my life...and I've had ALOT of school. Take ANY of her classes, you won't regret it!

She makes the class very interesting and easy. All you have to do is print off the study guide and listen in lecture, read like 20 pages a week, and watch a movie and you will get an A in the class. She obviously loves the subject she teaches.

EASY A. Very knowledgeable. Fun class. Movies every Friday. Exams are so easy.

Although the class is an easy A, she is very liberal and one-sided. She never gives the views of conservatives. You will leave the class a democrat.

Very easy is you attend lectures. She gives all the possible questions on the test. Don't bother doing the readings except for your discussion section. Very interesting class.

Pretty easy class as long as you are willing to attend lectures, post on the class messageboard, and read 3 articles every week

If you need a gen ed, this is one of the best ones to take with this professor. Easy, very clear, and you learn a lot. The class is really interesting too.

I loved Pintar! I got a 101 on both the midterm and final. She gives (or did give) "testable questions" that if you fill out during lecture end up being a great study guide for the big tests. Also her commentary on the material was so helpful. She supplements the material with experiences from her own life. Great teacher!

I loved this class- Sex and Madness. I learned so much from it, and Pintar was a great professor. She tells you everything that's going to be on the tests, so there are no surprises. She wants her students to do well. Heavy reading, but it was well worth it.

This was a great class! I recommend it to everyone! If you need hours or if you are taking hard classes, this is a great one to add to your schedule. There is only about an hour of work a week (if you do the discussion reading) and she gives you the answers to the tests in class. She's funny and class goes by really fast.

Testable questions make studying for exams incredibly easy. Very traight forward and knows her stuff. Interesting and fun person. Go to class and she tells you exactly what you need to know for exams (which aren't worth much). My TA was awful but it didn't affect my grade.

Lectures are extremely clear with testable material to follow along with. You do have to do some reading out of the reader, but the text book is so unecessary. She definitely opinionate and not approachable, but she's such a cool person! Buy her music on iTunes!

The most amazing prof i ever had, shes funny, energetic and teaches the material better than anyone else will ever be able to. She makes you really think about what our society is like and how all of us play a role in it. Amazing, enough said!!

If u need a gened in social science take Soc 100, its easy and with pintar u should have no problem getting an easy A. All you have to do is go to lecture, and make sure U DONT BUY THE BOOK cuz u dont need it and u'll save yourself $80. All you need is the workbook that she mades and ur set.

First of all she has music on iTunes? Easy A. Straight forward exams. You don't need to read the book just the little reader booklet.

Professor Pintar is one of the best I ever had. If it were just her class you had to go to, I'd recommend it to everyone strongly; however, you have to attend a discussion section, and my section leader was abysmal. Take the class, suffer through discussion, and be better for it.

Professor Pintar is incredibly knowledgeable, very well versed in her field and she actually cares about her students. She takes a genuine interest in satisfying her student's curiosities and she treats her students as colleagues. Furthermore, this course on the former Yugoslavia was hands down the best course I've ever taken at UIUC.

Took this class for a Gen Ed. She only grades based on whether you show up and if you post to the discussion board. Had one easy test. There is a final paper and group project, but both not too bad. She is extremely helpful and loves teaching the class.

Great Prof! 3 quizzes, couple of discussion posts a week, take home final. Pretty Easy, I got an A and BARELY read anything. :) TAKE THIS CLASS! 2 gen eds DONE!

She's pretty nice overall. Take the class if you can. 40 online writing assignments for the semester, they make up 40% of total grade. So do this. Plenty of extra credit opportunities, sometimes even for just attendance! 3 quizzes with 11 questions, all kinda easy and take home final paper also easy. You can't do bad in this course.

Loved her as a professor. This semester most of the grades were from online posts. There were no quizzes just a final paper at the end. She is extremely passionate about this which makes it interesting and very helpful. Attendence is extra credit - I went to maybe half the classes. Also you don't need the text book just read others posts

She made a class about war and ethnic conflicts fun. The readings are interesting, class discussions are laid back, and there's a lot of supplementary movies and extra credit. She's an easy grader and your online participation is the key to a good grade. Prof. Pintar is very genuine and laid back. Wish I would have taken more of her classes.

Prof. Pintar has been my favorite professor while at U of I. She is fun, intelligent, and loves what she teaches because she made the class and did her PhD research on the conflicts in the Balkans so gives awesome first hand stories. As long as you do the online homework and show up for class you are sure to do well in her class.

BEST professor I've EVER had. She's extremely knowledgeable, nice and inspirational. Classes are very interesting and definitely not hard. Take classes with her! Attendance is a huge part of the grade.

She really know how to break the ice with the class. She is funny, and she really makes learning fun. I enjoyed going to her class everyday. It was the one I looked forward to everyday. Her teaching methods are unique to herself, but it is nothing too difficult. You will most likely be in groups all semester so play nice :)

Professor Pintar is an amazing professor. Her grading procedure is not only fair but human. She understands that we all have our struggles with learning new and challenging concepts and accepts failure as a learning opportunity. However, Professor Pintar is no push-over, she makes students work for their grade.

I took 3 separate courses with Professor Pintar because learning from her was so much fun. I learned a lot about culture, language, and art in forms that I never would have expected. She has many crazy experiences to share, and it really opened my eyes to see people, cultures, and the world in a different way.

She is very passionate in her teachings (very informational lectures, interesting topics) and she cares about student success, above everything else. The only thing I didn't like about her is that she claimed for all of the work to have a purpose, but it was definitely busy work (role-playing assignment, info autobiography, etc.) Go to class!

IMO the easiest class at UIUC. She makes sure that as long as you have a brain cell, you can get a 100% on every assignment. Put in just the slightest bit of effort and you will do very very well. Content can be boring sometimes but she cares a lot about it so it's never unbearable. Take it if you need a gen ed credit.

Prof Pintar cares for her students and is very passionate ab what she teaches. But the entire class is pretty much just busy work. Every week you fill out 30 cards that relate to that weeks reading but we don't end up doing much with the cards even though that's all we ever do. The discussion sections are also a waste of time. easy class tho

Some of the work in this class can be tedious but it's all easy and you'll always get an extension if you ask. The midterm and final are open note and you have multiple days to do them on your own time. I recommend filling out the card assignment during lecture to save yourself some time and better engage. Pintar is a fun lecturer who cares a lot.

Professor Pintar is a great lecturer and is very accommodating of students' needs. She is very flexible with giving out extensions. There's some busy work every week (basically completion points), two open note midterm evaluation, and a final group project, but overall it is an easy A class.

She was very sweet and welcoming and showed many perspectives on information science. I think this course was fun and I got to know a lot of people. The content is fairly easy as well.
