Loved the class, interesting discussions, a lot of reading but overall easy clas

Incredibly interesting class. Teacher is very bright and motivates you to learn. Lots of reading, but it's easy to get into because the subject matter is intriguing. Highly recommend!

Huge bore! Not sure if it was the subject matter or her, but "Literature of the Bible" was a totally awful, boring class. No excessive homework or a giant work load, just enormously boring. Beware.

Not too bad of a class. Never any homework. 1 paper. Tests can be difficult with all the points on only 1 essay question.

I highly recommend this teacher. Her class is challenging in that she pushes you (and pushes you) to think, but you will exit the class a better writer. She is very fair, comes prepared, and will not waste your time.

This was a very fast paced class in which I considered the readings thought provoking and engaging. We were constantly challenged to examine our viewpoints, how they related to the world and to think outside the box. This is a great class.

Excellent teacher. Very fair on grading. You know exactly what to prepare for exams. She is available for office hours, and she will help you. Eng 5 is a difficult class, but she teaches it well. Be prepared to do a lot of reading, and you will write 4 essays.

This is the hardest class I've taken at SMC, Quite a bit of reading, essays arent bad, but be prepared for difficult term and passage identifications on the exams, they could turn an A into C if you aren't prepared. She was very helpful during office hours. Study EVERYTHING written on the board.

This was a very difficult class. Regardless, I really enjoyed the teacher. I hear people don't like her in her religion classes, but i really liked the english class, despite the fact that i was maintaing mid Bs throughout the entire semester. Very kind, but grades tough. No easy As in this class!

first rate. she really wants students to learn and enjoy it. it's hard to teach the really old stuff and she's open to however the student will learn it. really great professor, really smart.

Took her 8 wk online class. Hardest A of my SMC career but I got a lot out of it. She is a good teacher but not for the faint of heart. She will push you to be better. I have a lot of respect for her. She turned me on to Socrates, Greek tragedy and the lot of those who find themselves imprisoned. A+

Her textbook taste was dreamy.

This class was okay. I really enjoyed the reading and the interesting assignments she gave. It was easy work, yet she grades pretty tough. I feel like I deserved a better grade than I got, but overall it was a fun class. She's very nice.

Online class. I made some mistakes understanding what exactly it was she wanted but got it down to a system. As long as you read the book and participate in the discussions, you will be fine. Fast replies of prof and TA. Very intresting books

Prof. Remmes teaches a challenging and thought provoking English one class. She welcomes students to explore their own creative writing abilities. Judith is not only a fine educator, but a fine human being who encourages all her students to do their very best. I highly recomme

I dropped her class after a week and a half. She was very intimidating. and says point blank if you dont want to participate a lot you should not be in her class. She has very challenging novels and essays but her vocabulary is easy, i thought. so if you are shy, think twice. it's not very welcoming.

Online discussions were surprisingly informative and thought provoking. The professor responded promptly and provided helpful feedback. I would recommend this class to any thoughtful person interested in literature and ethnic studies. Interesting book choices (non/fiction). Be prepared to put time into this class—though, it’s well worth it.

I thought this class would be typical, just get through it, but it turned out to be super fascinating. The books were all great and the prof let us run with the conversations. It was a bit challenging but I learned a lot.

Prof. Remmes is hard but fair. A lot of work but she will give you a good base to stand on for future english studies. If you want to learn how to write english correctly, take her! But if you're just looking for an easy grade, this is not the class for you.

All these comments are brutal for such a great professor. You guys must be lazy or something. Or maybe you're just used to being spoon fed. Prof. Remmes cares about her students and is very helpful. She even says it at the end of her class. Go back to kindergarten all of you, or for once realize you're in college.

I can't believe some of the comments I just read about this teacher. I thought she was really good. I think some people just think college is supposed to be easy and a teacher is going to give you an A because you turned something in. Prof. Remmes grades on a college level so if you can't write a college level paper, don't expect to do well.

Judith Remmes is an amazing proffessor. She is real smart , fun and interesting. The themes in her class are great. I learned a lot about english and about music at the same time.She's one of the best teacher I've ever had.Judith Rocks! I recommend her to anybody and dont listen to the stupid negative comments 'cause they have no foundation.

Judith will gauge your level based on your first paper, and then help you to improve during the class. I write well, but I was forced to face my weaknesses. It WAS hard, but this is exactly what school should be. It makes me mad that so many students are affronted by the idea of personal growth, so much so as to call the work impossible. LEARN.

I did all my assignments for this class, and got nothing lower than a C on any exams. I don't understand why my final grade for this class came out to lower than the average of my assignment grades and test grades. Her grading doesn't make sense, I suggest not taking this class.

This class definitely improved my writing, but it was not an easy class. I did not appreciate our class topic being hip-hop for the semester. Prof. Remmes is a nice lady and is willing to help you if you come to her. Class discussion is interesting but be prepared to work hard. I got an A, but just barely.

If you want to cruise through a class don't take Professor Remmes. All she will do is make you work hard and become a better writer. So if you want to continue to be ignorant and simply attend school for easy grades avoid her. Otherwise, stop the crying and get to work. Professor Remmes your class was wonderful! Don't buy the textbook, we used like 5 pages of it. I feel like I wasted $60 on this class textbook just to have it collect dust on my shelf.

English is not my native language and ENGL1 with Prof Remmes was my first English class.She is not that hard.Listen to what she says and go to her office hours and you will learn so much!I became a way better writer with her help. Her lectures are special. If you don't like to participate don't take the class.It is def no easy A but an enrichment.

I have taken Dr. Remmes twice- once for Old Testament in Lit and the other time for Ethnic Lit (online). Enjoyed her lectures a lot, as well as the readings. This is the second class I have taken with Prof. Remmes. I will admit she is not an easy teacher but you definately learn in her class. She is very quick in responding and always gives excellent constructive critisism. If you dont want to work hard this class is not for you but if you want to grow in your writing and reading skills she is perfect!

You need to make sure you have all your work in on time, no late papers. She does give a lot of assignments, but she truly helped me refine my writing style. She grades based on the work you submit, you won't get an A just by turning something in.

I think Professor Remmes is a great Professor and she really seems to care about your education. Although it is a lot of material, she is understanding if you communicate with her. If you're prepared to work hard but learn a lot of interesting stuff, you should do well in her class!

Professor Remmes has indeed a very mind challenging class. However, she is dedicated to students who want to succeed, no matter your grades. Do all of your homework, pay attention to her and peer editing corrections, bring your assignments on time!! if you did not understand something GO TO SEE HER! She will re-explain as may times as you need!

Don't hesitate! If you are dedicated and willing to learn, you will succeed. Despite many rumors, She is a very fair, and understanding professor. At the same time, she is very clear and helpful. But be prepared to work very hard! It is so unfortunate that she does not offer a physical ENGL 02 class.

You may have to work harder in Prof. Remmes class but she will make you a better writer and a better student. Her assignments are clear, her feedback is very helpful and the material she chooses is interesting. She's a tougher grader than some other instructors but if you're willing to work hard you will succeed.

What I appreciate about Prof Remmes is that she gently guides you in discussions without making you feel like there's a right or wrong answer. You learn so much just from having that open space to consider new ideas. Overall, she's a very knowledgable professor who wants all her students to excel. This was not an easy class but I am amazed at how much I learned. 5 (great) books over 6 weeks, a presentation, a midterm and a paper. Not for the lazy, that's for sure, and I absolutely loved it! She's very clear with what she expects and with assignments. I would definitely take her again! I really did learn a lot.

Though it was my first online and didn't know what to expect, I thought this class had a relatively heavy course load. Expect to read a lot and engage in discussions several times weekly which are sometimes difficult to keep up with. Very responsive to emails but pretty tough grader. Challenging but good, you will learn a lot.

I took Professor Remmes' online English 5 class. I can say that I have never put that much effort into an English course before, and once all said and done, it was well worth it. Great class; tough, and a lot of work, but take it if you are not just looking for an easy A. Thanks

Professor Remmes is my favorite English professor of all times. She's such an inspirational teacher, who will lead you on a path of self-discovery. I took two of her courses and if there are others I'm going to take those as well. She helped me become a better writer, but more importantly, a more rounded person. I love her to pieces! Remmes is an amazing professor. Since it is not an Easy A, a lot of people complain. Just put in the work. This is my second time taking her and she is amazing. She lectures a lot but, isn't that what college is about? Just go to class, take notes, pay attention, and study. She is the sweetest and most caring professor.

Lots of reading in this class, but it IS a lit class. Clear instructions, due dates were consistent from week to week, good discussion format. She gave helpful feedback on papers. Stay on top of the reading and you'll be fine. I took the class over summer & read the books before class started which really helped me out.

prof remmes is so sweet and caring about her students and honestly I thought she was a great prof and really enjoyed her class. however the way she structures discussions is crazy, it's a ton of info & u have to turn in your response on a Tues to several questions that equates a full length essay every week ur docked pointif u don't respond by tues

I took the 8 week English 2 online course this semester and I have nothing but good things to say about Professor Remmes and how she ran the class. I will say that if you take this course, it's a lot of work and you must stay on track with the assignments. She is very easy to work with, gives reasonable due dates, and I highly recommend her class.

Professor Remmes is really kind; she always got back to my emails quickly. There are a lot of discussion posts and reading assignments but it's not unbearable. She gives good feedback but does prefer when you agree with her analysis. Overall, she's a really great teacher and gives clear instructions. highly recommend.
