TAKE THIS CLASS if you get the chance. Judson is a wonderful teacher and has me really interested in Sociology. I'm considering a major in it now because of him, and I'd go out of my way to take another one of his classes. He is wonderful.
Judson has to be one of the greatest professors at Loyola. He really cares about what he's teaching and wants his students to learn. He is extremely funny and I can't wait to go to class everyday. If you pay attention in class and do the readings you will be fine. There is a paper, however he lets you do revisions for a better grade.
Best teacher I have had in my years at Loyola. Genuinely cares about his students. Memorizes everyone's names (in a class of about 40 students) by the third class meeting. He is hilarious and an AMAZING teacher. Loyola better keep him!
He is honestly one of the BEST professors at Loyola. His class counts for core, but it's because of him I'm considering declaring my major in sociology. He's so helpful and uses stories and material from everyday life to teach the class, which I feel makes it more relevant. 3 exams (one is the final) and you're allowed 3 absences. TAKE HIM!!
DEF TAKE HIS SOCIAL PROBLEMS CLASS!! JUDSON IS ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS THAT I'VE HAD AT LOYOLA. HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TEACHING AND IS HILARIOUS. VERY EASY FORMAT, NOT TOO MUCH READING, AND ALOT OF DISCUSSION. AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!
Judson is absolutely fantastic. I have recommended him to all of my friends, and would recommend that everyone at Loyola take one of his classes. He is wonderful at teaching and I never wanted to miss his class.
Great teacher. He outlines the main concepts on the board and tells you what they are. He has "take away points" on blackboard and that's all you need to study for the easy tests he gives out that are multiple choice and an easy essay. Funny. I wish he taught all of my classes.
I took him last semester and am planning on taking him Fall 2010. He's absolutely wonderful! Take him! I recommend him to all my friends. He's hilarious and takes time to know all his students. Not to mention, he's not bad looking either :D
awesome awesome guy. if u dont like swearing though, dont take the class. personally, swearing helps clarify important things for me
TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM! TAKE HIM!if you are even thinking about taking a sociology class that he teachers, do it! He outlines everything that you need to know on the board, and uses his textbook very well. There is a weekly quiz over the short readings. Even though attendance is mandatory I didn't want to miss his class anyway.
BEST TEACHER EVER. TAKE HIM. tests are easy, you'll love going to class, and hes soo helpful and just plain AWESOME.
AWESOME!!! Judson is an amazing teacher who actually cares how well you do. He is helpful both in and outside of class. He knows your name from day one. You feel guilty if you even think to miss his class. He is one of the few genuine good teachers out there! His expectations are clear and if you do the work, you will get a good grade.
TAKE JUDSON!!! He makes the class, interesting, simple, and actually applicable to every day life. He makes the class easy enough for you to not worry about grades so you can actually learn the subject and how it applies to your life instead. He's hilarious, and will accommodate almost any of your needs. You won't regret this class!
Dr. Everett is the best hands down. You don't have to study because his examples in class are hilarious but important.
The reason I'm majoring in sociology. Take him at all costs.
There is a line between good and God, and Judson walks that line. He cares so much for his class and what he teaches. He learns everyone's name in the first week and the reading assignments are usually extremely interesting. Take him!!
Judson is the best teacher I had thus far. He truly cares about his students and makes each class enjoyable. I learned a lot from him and trust me when I say you will not regret taking his class!
Judson is AWESOME!!! He is THE best teacher I've has so far at Loyola. You will seriously regret if you don't take him. The class is very interesting and Judson teaches in a way that is fun and easy to understand. There is one quiz each week that is based on the readings but overall is a pretty easy class to get an A. TAKE HIM!!!
Judson is still rockin it. Took him for 101 and was nervous about taking him at a higher level. Class is still structured the same as 101, quizzes and all. Only difference is "Take-Home Exam" (a term paper). Great prof. Makes even the hardest material crystal clear.
Best professor I've taken at Loyola so far. He's funny as hell and explains every concept extremely well. Weekly quizzes based off of readings, but I barely ever read and still got an A. Even the research paper is interesting. Must take.
You'd probably have to try not to get an A in this class, because he explains everything extremely well, and goes out of his way to help you. Also, if you've taken him once, take him again, because he reuses a lot of material/examples!
The best teacher I have ever had. I have taken many of his other classes and I actually can say I learned something form him. He keeps you paying attention because he is hilarious and at the same time very knowledgeable about the subject. He gives out take away points after every class which help a lot when it comes to taking the tests.
Judson for president. He is an incredible teacher and you are not getting your money's worth at Loyola if you do not take one of his classes. Easy A -- you really feel bad if you have to miss a class of his because they are so interesting & he is so glorious. He knows every students name before the second class and is just perfect. <3
Very easy class, but also interesting. Prof has sarcastic humor that made me feel like i was watching stand up at times. Overall, a great teacher and course to take with minimal work necessary. We even skipped a week of class for a group project/paper that took almost no time at all. Definitely TAKE!
Super easy and a lot of fun. Take his class even if you don't need the core.
I was dreading taking a sociology course until I had my first class with him. He is amazing! Always keeps your attention through class and teaches in a way that makes sense and is memorable.
BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD HANDS DOWN! He inspired me to be a sociology minor. I actually looked forward to going to his classes. He has an awesome sense of humor and its easy to get an A in the class. DEFINITELY take him!
Simply amazing
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! If you don't take his class, your missing out!
Most entertaining and hilarious professor. Approachable, knowledgeable, interesting material. Its really a joy to go to his class. If you can't get in his class wait another semester so you can. Its that good!
This guy is the man. He makes class mandatory, but it's totally worth it. He completely dumbs down sociological problems through a sociological perspective, and his tests and quizzes are jokes. Must take for Societal Knowledge CORE
This class was too good to be true, but it is so take it.
amazing! Best professor ive had so far at Loyola
BEST. CLASS. EVER. Definitely take this class. JUDSON IS THE MAN. He makes class interesting and definitely gives everyone an A. It's such a joke and fun. Tests are super easy... I didn't even study and got an A on all exams. Just take him, trust me...it's worth it.
Judson is a great teacher and I think he knows it at this point. He seems to have less connection with his students than ever because he's so busy. He's become a little detached, but he's still an awesome teacher. He's a must-take before you graduate. I've taken him multiple times and he's a fantastic professor.
This guy's personality is just plain awesome! Really chill and laid back, and his sarcasm is hilarious. His teaching methods are pretty effective and funny as well. Rally cool, understanding guy. My favorite teacher! Definitely take him if you can and wait for his class until next semester if you can't, it's worth it!
AMAZING. Judson can actually teach. He makes toughest concepts easy. I wish we had professors like him in bio/chem dept. He can make learning fun. I can't praise him enough. Gem of a teacher. He is the only guy at loyola that teaches you worth the money you pay to go here. Highly, highly recommend.
Judson is the best. Seriously. His expectations are clear and it is SO EASY to meet this expectations if you have a good work ethic. There's a bit of reading to do, but it's all discussed in class. He is so funny, engaging, entertaining, and very understanding of student needs. Take any class with him; you will not regret it.
Easily the greatest professor I've ever had. He's energetic, hilarious and brilliant. I NEVER wanted to miss a single class. Also, he has taught me more in a 100 level sociology class than most of my 200 - 300 level professors have. You're missing out if you don't take one of his classes.
He is such a great professor. He makes the points clear and applicable. He picks out readings from text that are usually very interesting, and quizzes over them are very easy. Make sure you show up to class though because discussions and key concepts from class are directly on the test. Also, he is SUPER funny and you'll end up enjoying attending.
He's the man. Super interesting topics and he's hilarious. Take him, you won't regret it.
Honestly made me consider switching from business to sociology.. But a minor will do. Hilarious guy, great teacher. The epitome of a great college professor. I wish I hadn't taken him so early in college though. I don't think anyone could live up to what he taught me in this class.
Overall, Professor Everitt is brilliant the way in which he teaches the class and includes class interactions and real world examples makes coming to class enjoyable. I think that other teachers should take note of his teaching style and be more like him. I'm glad that I took this class and would definitely recommend it to others. MUST TAKE!!
Amazing teacher! Hilarious and very helpful! Easy class, take him!!
All reviews below are accurate. I had this class at 8:30 am and never missed one. I truly enjoyed it and learned a lot. He's hilarious and tells you exactly what you need to know. You must go to class otherwise you might have a hard time but he makes you want to attend. Pay attention in class and its an easy A
He is the best teacher I have had in my four years at Loyola. He makes learning easy and fun. I never dreaded going to his class. This was my second class with him, if I could I would take all my classes with him. He is really entertaining, he should be a part-time comedian, the world needs to see his humor. Brilliant professor.
Everitt is hands down the BEST professor I have had at Loyola. Hes hilarious, entertaining, brilliant, and super approachable. He takes a great interest in all of his students which is very impressive. He should be a part time comedian.
Professor Judson Everitt is the only professor I've had that allowed me to enjoy lectures and learn at the same time. He is extremely concise with the material he teaches and what is on the exams. Highly Recommended
One of my favorite professors at Loyola. He teaches you exactly what you need to know for the test. There are weekly pop quizzes, so do the readings, but the stuff we read is really interesting. He is hilarious, understands college kids, genuinely cares about his students, and wants to prepare you for the real world. Amazing teacher! TAKE TAKE TAKE
He's a funny guy. Entertaining to listen to. He gives you all the info you need to know for each exam in a nice document before the exam date. Homework wasn't bad. Projects weren't bad at all. I really enjoyed his class! He's cool!
Judson is the BEST PROFESSOR THAT I HAVE EVER TAKEN AT LOYOLA!!! I don't rate professors but I had to rate Judson because he is AWESOME!!! I so wish he could teach every class I take at Loyola!!!! I've taken him 3 times already!!!!!!
First time rating on here because he is THAT good. He requires students to come in if they score less than 90% on the first exam, he really cares about your success. Also, he's hilarious and the subject matter is really interesting as well. The only class I've skipped was from being sick and I was bummed I didn't get to go. Take him!!!
I never passed his class, but he is an easy grader. I never participated, but participation matters. I don't respect him, but he is very respected by the students .
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND TAKE HIS CLASS!!! he is hilarious to the point where you end up crying from laughing so hard every lecture. the material are very straight forward, he even post the important points for every class so you can just study those for the exams. 3 exams (really easy), 2 short assignments. TAKE HIM FOR CORE, YOU WONT REGRET IT!!!
He's the best! And his class is super easy! Just look over your notes before exams and you're pretty much guaranteed an A! :)
Easiest sociology professor! Loved him!!
I'd take Judson every semester if I could. You learn so much, but he makes it so easy! He really changes your perspective on the world. He's funny, so you'll never want to miss a class. Take him--doesn't matter if you're a SOCL majorminor, need core, or want a good elective. He's amazing.
This is the 3rd class I've taken with Judson, and I cannot say enough good things about him. His class layout, the way he lectures, the tests and assignments, literally EVERYTHING about his classes is phenomenal. Take a class with Judson if you can, no matter what your major is. It is because of him that I know what i want to do with my life.
This was literally the best class I have taken at Loyola in the three years I have been here. Everitt is an amazing, funny, and passionate professor and I learned so much. I actually became a sociology minor because of him. Class was easy if you read (very little reading) and showed up. Basically hands you an A. Would recommend to all!!
It should be no surprise that he is among the best college professors in America. Amazing lectures that get to the point and in language that makes you understand what he is trying to say. Weekly quizzes, 3 tests, discussion, attendance make up the grade. Third test was the hardest relative to the other 2 which were easy. Give this man a raise!
Best Teacher at Loyola. He inspired me to take a minor in Sociology. A life changing professor.
Amazing! The one 8:30 class ive never regretted. He is hilarious. His exams are straightforward. Take his class. You'll get lots of life advice too. Definitely worth it
He is amazing! Great Teacher. Expect Weekly quizzes, only one question one answer based. You get 1 point for attendance, another for having it right. 3 Tests and a Paper. The final is not Cumulative... Very Funny GREAT GUY, super helpful and easy to talk to. Highly Recommended
Amazing professor. Very interesting stories and class is very relaxed. You will learn the material if you put in the time and effort. Be sure to read and also take a look at the lecture reviews he provides before exams.
Judson is THE BEST professor I've ever had. His lectures are very informative yet highly entertaining. He keeps you interested and engaged and makes sure you understand everything. Super personable, knows literally everyone's names and very helpful. Took another socl class just because he was teaching it. Tells hilarious stories about his kids
Best sociology professor ever!! He makes his lectures interesting, hilarious and you just can not wait for the next class. 3 testes, quizzes based on reading and one group discussion.
Really enjoyed his class. I wasn't expecting to enjoy sociology as much as I did. Would take him again!
Interesting lectures, very funny, connects stories with concepts for visual learners. He has small easy quizzes every week which help you grade. A couple of tests which are all pretty simple. Great guy
Hands down, best professor I've had at Loyola (and I'm a senior). Every class is interesting! The lectures are relevant to what is going on in the world today and gives great examples, so you won't have issues remembering the concept for the exam. Gives pop quizzes (that aren't really pop quizzes), three exams, and 2 short 2-page papers.
HONESTLY MY FAVORITE TEACHER EVER. He genuinely wants to see all of his students succeed. I learned so much in his class and always came out of his class feeling like a genius. Very caring, very honest, and very engaging. He's hilarious too!!
Amazing professor and person. His lectures are so enjoyable and relatable. He's hilarious, especially when he talks about his children. I love taking this course and, honestly, the material is very interesting to learn. His exams feature 5 multiple choice questions and an essay. His class is one I look forward to every week. TAKE HIS CLASS!
I loved Judson's SOCL101 class so much that I am taking him again next semester. Truly a funny, educated, and qualified guy. He uses comedic examples to get you to really understand the concepts- not just memorize the content. 3 tests, the third being a noncumulative final on the third unit. Weekly 2 point quizzes. One two paragraph "essay".
wish i could add more tags! Best teacher I've ever had! enjoy going to lectures, hilarious, and is very caring about his students and people in general! I wish i had to take another class with him because i dont think I'll ever have a teacher as great as him! Take him even if it is @ 8am, its worth it!
This class was the HIGHLIGHT of my semester. Judson is hilarious and his lectures won't disappoint. I wish I could take his class again. He genuinely cares about his students. There are 3 exams including the final (NOT cumulative), weekly one-question quizzes, and a short writing assignment based on world news. Take this class. I love Judson!
Everyone who has taken Judson loves him! His lectures are hilarious and very entertaining. He uses his own personal examples to explain concepts from class and they help SO much. You don't have to put much effort into this class to receive an A. I HIGHLY recommend Judson and would take him again in a heartbeat.
No wonder he is the top-rated professor at Loyola! Judson is simply wonderful and I would recommend his class to anyone. 3 non-cumulative exams, 1 quiz a week that consists of one question, and a 1-2 page writing assignment about current events. Lectures were funny and engaging. He also takes the time out to meet with every single student, SO GREAT
Best prof ever. highly recommend you take him
Great guy, great professor, the reviews don't lie: Best professor on campus. Tests are a joke, you can skip class (he posts his own notes online for his students on the day's lecture). Loves his students, loves his job, loves his topic. Don't miss out on him
If you're ever going to take SOCL101, just pick Judson - even if you have to wait a semester. He starts by writing learning objs. on the board. He then tells stories and makes you laugh for 50-70 minutes. At the end, you somehow learned everything but feel like you just took a break from life. After lessons, he uploads take-away points as review.
Judson is one of the best professors that I've ever had. He makes sure that students are engaged through interesting lectures and a great sense of humor. Exams are super straight forward so long as you show up to class and pay attention. Definitely would recommend taking him in any class you can.
Judson is by far one of my professors I have taken at Loyola. His lectures are interesting and hilarious! He relates everything to the real world and makes everything really easy to understand. There are readings for class but they aren't terribly long. There is one quiz per week but he usually tells/hints what day it will be on. TAKE THIS CLASS!
Amazing professor. He really cares about his students doing well (hard find for me at least). It's important to participate to do well in the class!
Genuinely enjoyed being in this class. He is a passionate educator and makes class fun. The more you put into the class the more you will get out of it.
Hands down best professor I've ever had. I looked forward to going to class, even at a whopping 8:30 am. His lectures are hilarious and he teaches the material in a way that you remember it. Grades are based on 3 tests, weekly one-question quizzes based on the readings, and a short writing assignment. Just do your work and you're guaranteed an A.
Dr. Everitt is an easy professor. I feel as if that is why he rated so highly. He essentially gives us the test material before the exam on Sakai. It was a relaxing class where we learned about some interesting random stuff. I'd recommend taking him for core for sure.
Judson is the best professor I've ever had. You learn so much worthwhile content in this class that actually applies to everyday life. He gives us examples from his own life which are always hilarious. Really wants you to succeed in life and is incredibly understanding. You will have to read about 4 books but they were all interesting!
Judson is honestly the best professor I've ever had. He is hilarious and makes lectures so easy. If you have the chance TAKE THIS MAN!!!!!!!!!!! I love him so much and if you do the readings (only a few pages) and show up to class it's an easy A. Weekly reading quiz only 2 points and you get 1 point for just putting your name on it. Amazing 10/10
Great prof!
Dr. Everitt is an absolute gem. He gives amazing lectures and great feedback on tests and quizzes. Definitely a professor that actually cares for his students and obviously loves teaching. Would take again.
This guy is the most amazing man in the world. He's so funny and he makes class interesting. Even though attendance is mandatory, you honestly don't want to miss a class. Judson is AMAZING!!! 10/10 stars!!
Judson is AMAZING. His lectures are hilarious and he always ties concepts to his life in the funniest ways possible. His exams are totally doable if you show up, and really he makes you not want to miss class. Take him!!!
Everitt is the best professor ever!!! His lectures are really funny, interesting and he makes them relatable. He assigns readings with weekly quizzes, but they are easy. He provides takeaway points from every lecture and if you understand the basic concepts the tests aren't hard. I never missed a class because I loved it so much! TAKE HIM
Professor Everitt was my favorite professor during my first semester at Loyola. He is hilarious and relates the information to real world problems so it really sticks in your head. Posts take-away notes after every class and they are basically study guides for the test. Easy A and a class I genuinely enjoyed going to, even at 9 am. TAKE HIM!
Dr. Everitt was the best prof. of my first semester. I'd never taken a sociology class prior to his, and he made sociology much more interesting than I had anticipated. The class is easy as long as you show up and participate. There are weekly readings that are usually followed by a short FR quiz. 3 midterms and a final "sociological issue" debate.
Best professor at Loyola. Took him for a summer class and he made the time go by so fast with his stories. Best choice for sociology. Read takeaway points and go over key concepts and you'll do good on the test.
Judson is a very easy going guy who keeps sociology interesting. We do not use a textbook rather he uploads readings that are very interesting. You have three tests that are each the same format. He posts take away points after every lecture that are very helpful to review for his test. Overall would recommend to everyone!
Judson is hands down the most engaging and just the BEST teacher I have ever had. Genuinely looked forward to having his class every morn. He makes the material impossible to forget with his stories and I still remember a lot that he taught me & has people come to an office visit at the beginning of the semester to get to know you better. A+++
I couldn't finish this class without leaving a review. Judson is an amazing educator who makes Loyola great. I am not surprised he has a perfect review. His lectures are very concise and he makes it impossible to forget concepts through his funny stories. He doesn't waste time, and his tests are extremely straight forward. His class is great!
His lectures are so good that it's hard not to pay attention. He gives the class key points that make studying for the exams very easy. He's a funny guy that cares about his students. He is definitely my favorite professor at Loyola so far 10/10 recommend!
Take Judson for sociology you will not regret it. He has amazing lectures that are both engaging and funny. He helps his students that are struggling if you approach him first.
Despite having hundreds of students, Dr. Everitt is the kinda guy who WILL remember your name. the lectures are interesting and engaging and the class materials he gives you will prepare you for the exam. he has weekly quizzes are that just one question from the last reading - usually not too complicated but involved enough. loved this class.
I love Judson everyone respects him take him if you get a chance
Love him! Probably the best professor you could take for a tier 1 sociology class!
The best professor I've ever had. His classes are super engaging, while still being informative. Almost all of the reading is posted online in pdf form, so you won't have to pay for textbooks. He's also so caring, he set me up with a therapist when he could tell I was struggling
He is a great professor and cares about his students. His lectures are posted on Panopto and they are about 20min (only 2-3 each week). Also weekly quizzes and readings, but overall he makes it very very clear what will be on the exam. Very nice and accessible!!
I took him during j-term 2020 and I really enjoyed his class. I sad that it was only for 1 week and I would take him again for the following semesters! He is very open-minded and as long as youre able to support your ideas for the exams then youre good!
he is the most chill professor ever. I don't know if it was just because i took his class while covid precautions were still prevalent but all of our exams were take home and all lectures were online so we didn't really need to show up. he is a great explainer and puts things in terms that make it east to understand and remember.
an AMAZING professor. ive never taken a sociology class and only did so for the core credit, but its been my favorite class by far. posts all of his lectures on panopto, weekly readings with quizzes (one question, 2 pts) and 3 take home exams where you have a week to complete them. would 10000% recommend taking this class
Dr. Everitt is so kind and understanding. His class is easy, with a one-question quiz every week based on the reading. He only makes us attend class once a week, too. His tests are lengthy but they're take-home and open note. He's not a harsh grader either.
Dr. Everitt is AMAZING! He makes class worth showing up for as he is super engaging and a really fun Professor. He structures the class in an efficient way, and his quizzes and tests are really straightforward. As long as you pay attention in lecture, you will do very well in the class. He really is a great prof. to have, so definitely take him
Prof. Everitt was great! As of Fall 2021 his course was hybrid so that students who could not make it to class were still able to view the material and online lectures on Sakai. Easy A if you actually try on the exams and turn in quizzes on time which is minimal effort.
He made this class so accommodating. If you couldn't make it to class or didn't feel like going it didn't matter because all his lectures were posted and you could just watch those videos. He also posts take-away points for the topic and readings. This class was a breeze, all quizzes and exams were open note as well.
I didn't think I was interested at all in sociology until I took this class. Dr Everitt's lectures were very engaging and I learned a lot. His tests are not too difficult; they're open note, online, and we had a week to do them. He is a great guy who cares about his students and really wants us to succeed. Definitely recommend taking him if you can
A great prof for a 100 level class. Had all of the materials online, so it made it easy to go back and learn something if you missed it. He made an effort to meet everyone in the class, which I appreciated.
Dr. Everitt is an amazing professor who truly cares about his students. All of his work is uploaded online so it is very easy to make up any missed work. His lectures are extremely engaging, I was even excited to complete exams/quizzes (never thought I'd say that, ever). I highly recommend taking his course.
Dr. Everitt was such an amazing professor. His lectures were always really engaging, and fun, they really made you forget you were taking a sociology class in the first place. There were assignments due every class period but were really easy to complete. His tests were open book/note, which made them less stressful. Overall, he is a solid choice!
lots of reading, but not overwhelming and pretty expected of a sociology course. this man is so funny! he makes lectures interesting and enjoyable. pretty easy grader with lots of quizzes (one every week, only worth two points) and 3 exams/discussion posts. had to buy quite a few books for the course, but lots are pdfs or online. he is awesome!!!!!
Dr. Everitt is such an amazing prof! His in-class lectures were optional, but they were so fun and engaging that I usually went to class! He also posted the lectures online for students who were unable to attend. He is more than accommodating and he's funny! I would definitely take him again!
Great Teacher, two quick quizzes that take less than five minutes and are very easy. Half of the class is online. Paper is easy to complete. Easy going.
Really cares about students individually, despite having a large class. Easy papers with the exams; exams have clear expectations. Short, weekly quizzes that are based off of worldly issues so you are able to easily facilitate a question answer. Half of the time, class is asynchronous.
THE REVIEWS ARE TRUE! Make time for this class! You have class twice a week, exams online and open note and the whole week off during the exam, lectures online if you can't make it, some quizzes which are online. Honestly, if you are planning on taking difficult classes in one semester, this class will make your life easier! TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Find time to take him! Literally the best professor. I'm constantly laughing in his class and he ties everything together so perfectly. Everything just some how makes sense, especially for a non sociology major. The exams are take home, open note... and you have a week to do it. All the lectures are online if you miss a class too. just take..TRUST.
He was the best prof. I've ever had. Take time to take his class!! This class was such a breeze. It's in person but he cancels class like 50% of the time. Trust me, TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Easy A core class. Prof Everitt is a great guy, super funny, interesting lectures, easy grader. Half the classes are online, and you don't ever have to go to class because he posts everything online in the end. All exams are online open note, and you have a week to do each one. The rest of the grade are simple quizzes that you can look up the answe
It took me about 3 years, but I FINALLY got into Dr. Everitt's class! He explains concepts very well using examples from his own life in some cases. He does not make a huge deal about attendance as long as you watch the online lectures, complete the 10 quizzes, 3 exams, and 3 discussion posts. No groups, no presentations, no pressure.
Super easy class, take him for soc
Only went to class once and still got an A. Super easy and still learned a lot. You can take his class asynchronously if you choose.
Very interesting lecturer and my favorite professor so far. Classes are optional and only once or twice a week and all material is available online including lectures. Everything is open note and there is no class during weeks where an exam is due. Everyone should take this for their sociology core requirement, you won't regret it.
He's super chill and not a ton of work. However, a little biased. Recently commented on the Israel situation without recognizing palestinians and thought it was dangerous to express it that way.
Ignore the rest of the reviews that say that he does online and take home exams. He has changed his policy so that his exams are in person and handwritten. He seems really nice and cool, and his lectures are really fun. He also gives take away points from after his lectures which is nice.
When I enrolled I thought the class was gonna be super lame, but it was great . I love sociology and it's super easy, it's really all just common sense, but watch the videos he posts and read the stories. But quizzes are easy and exams are too, as long as you read. But I would say its an overall interesting class and I would definitely recommend.
Everitt gives super good lectures, and the class actually made me add a sociology minor. That being said, he does a lot of online classes, which is okay except sometimes that made expectations unclear. He was also pretty untimely on grading and putting things in sakai which was frustrating. Would still recommend tho!
3 exams, daily reading quiz, and 3 discussion posts. 10 short answer and 1 essay for exam. Very lenient grader but is very untimely with posting grades. Exams are in person and Mondays are asynchronous. Week before an exam is asynchronous. If you study the take-away points you are guaranteed an A. Engaging/hilarious lectures. Take him!
TAKE HIM!!!!! literally the best professor ive had yet, theres 3 exams but theyre easy if you take notes and pay attention, he is so funny and lectures are so captivating. take him take him TAKE HIM!!
Silly dude. Really good lecturer, always warns of quizzes, makes takeaway points the exams are based off of, and easy to follow. Only wish is that he graded faster- got exam 1 grade back two days before taking exam 2.
I would definitely recommend Dr. Everitt. He's very entertaining and teaches on topics that are relevant and interesting. We had asynchronous work on Mondays. There were readings or documentaries that he would upload and give reading quizzes on, but you could do fine looking up a summary. Three exams and no final, so it felt easy to get an A.
Judson is probably one of the best professors I've ever had at Loyola. He's very knowledgeable and makes class not just interesting, but impossible to skip. Take him if you can!
Lecture style is very funny, and he cares about everyone succeeding. That said, the video lectures had more course content than the in-person classes (and attendance was theoretically mandatory). Weekly quiz, but sometimes he just gave us the points. Consistently let us out 15-30 minutes early, so I felt like I didn't learn as much as I could have.
Take him! Makes class not stressful with online quizzes and open-note online exams. He often makes classes online as well which is always nice if you commute. He cares about his students and is lenient and open to help if you miss something.
SUPER NICE AND FUNNY! very easy and interesting class. workload normal and not too heavy. super easy teacher and lots of asych classes. 3 total exams throughout the sem but all online and open note
I love this professor, his lectures are really interesting and he explain concepts really well, this class makes me want to add on a sociology minor. You also have usually 1 Async class a week and for exams the whole week Async to have time to work on it. There are reading every week but they are not super long and really interesting. Take him!
Dr. Everitt is the GOAT! I never knew anything about sociology but taking his class has made me extremely invested in it. He is very funny and teaches in an engaging way. He makes a lecture hall feel like a small room. He has many asynchronous online classes, and he gives you a whole week without class to complete his exams which are open note.
literally my favorite prof ever. hes so funny and is so passionate about what he teaches. he doesnt care when you submit things just as long as they get done by the end of the semester. also doesnt care if you pay attention in class as long as your there. tests are take home tests and are so easy.
Great professor, lectures are super engaging. Easy class with 3 exams, no final. Used Unstuck study and ChatGPT for study prep - definitely helped boost my grade. Recommend taking!
take him if you can, Professor Everitt is the best sociology teacher i've had. his lectures are entertaining and the tests are all open note and very easy. there are a lot of quizzes but everyone gets 1 free point so its not so bad. overall, he's a really fun teacher and i would take him again
Dr. Judson is an extremely caring and understanding professor! He grades his tests and quizzes very easily, all of which are online. Tests are open note, and can be taken throughout the course of a week. Dr. Judson understands student's individual situations, and is lenient. His lectures are witty yet informative, and time passes by quickly.
He is the nicest most sweetest teacher ever you should totally take him if possible he's great and doesn't have really really hard tests and is amazing.
He is a funny guy, he just makes jokes the entire class. All quizzes and exams are online and open everything. Even if you don't do any of the quizzes you automatically get half credit. You should take notes in class but he doesn't cover much in class or it's just common sense. Easy A I would say just don't start the exams the day they are due.
funniest guy at loyola, every lecture i missed made me want to cry
short weekly quizzes, 3 exams that are submitted online, get a week to finish the exam, mix of in person and online classes. TAKE HIM! such an easy A
His sociology class is definitely one of the most straight forward and accessible classes that a student could take. I learned things that I'd always been questioning about, but never knew the answer to until now. I liked that you don't need a lot of time to finish his assignments, and he's also a hilarious teacher that is great at lecturing.
Professor Everitt is super funny and personable. Made 2.5 hour lectures very bearable. Exams are all take home and open note and you have one week to do them. There is 2-3 readings a week and a reading quiz but they aren't hard. Make sure to pay attention and take notes on what he is saying, not just what is on the slides but easy overall!
This class was super interesting. I am currently doing a once a week lecture, which is 2 hours and 45 minutes, but I am super engaged the whole time. He gives you plenty of resources and the exams are open note. You can tell he genuinely has a passion for sociology, and wants to spread that passion
Dr. Everitt is a fantastic lecturer. I had him for a 2.5 hr class so the odds are stacked against him and he still manages to be engaging and funny. He gets laughs almost every class. The readings are a bit annoying but from my experience the grading is pretty easy and if you know how to skim you'll do well.
Dr. Everitt is the best professor I have ever had. He is so funny and makes the course enjoyable and interesting with his stories that he tells. All three exams and the weekly one-question quizzes are open note and take-home. The amount of work that he assigns can look daunting, but honestly it is not necessary to do well in the course.
