This could have been a boring class, but Jud actually made it fun! Classroom was informal with slightly zany hands-on exercises, so we got to know each other. This helped a lot for the public speaking parts. Weekly online quizzes were tough, but not impossible. Highly recommend, especially for those nervous about public speaking.

This is a wonderful class! The hands on experience is fun, interesting and entertaining. His feedback is very useful as well. I highly recommend Jud for anyone who takes CST110. His class has a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere that is excellent for learning.

Good class. Fun environment. Grading is very hard. Textbook use is too much. Plus the textbook takes 5 paragraphs to explain one sentence worth of information. Every week u have a quiz from the book that's ridiculously worth like half of your grade.

Classes were entertaining but the quiz's where horrible! There were 10 quiz's worth 40 points each which made up literally almost half of your grade from the course. They weren't easy at all so it made it difficult to get through the course. I did extremely well on my speeches but didn't do so well on my all of my quiz's and barely got a B.

I felt like I was going to hate a communications class but when we got about a week into the class it really wasn't bad. He's a really good teacher and his feedback is very helpful. I highly recommend him.

He is Amazing, Fun, and fairly simple. You don't have to show up but make sure you follow the syllabus and come to present your speech. Super easy notes were irrelevant to the final which is the last speech and the quizzes you take are open note and straight from the book. I suggest you take him if you want a fun learning experience.

Very good class. Makes public speaking much less terrifying and includes information that is useful for almost all aspects of life. Grading is hard but Jud definitely knows his stuff about the subject. Overall a good experience.

For my final speech I told Jud I was having some trouble, and he helped me a lot after class. He was willing to change a quiz grade and a speech critique grade. If you ask for help of any sort and shoot him an email, he is very helpful. I'm not that big into public speaking, but Jud helped me feel at ease. He also let us get out of class early.

I took CST 110 class at NVCC- Woodbridge campus, fall 2016. Professor Lewis is amazing! He knows his material very well, incorporates his lessons with a few class projects. In a nut shell, by the attendance of the class I can conclude that everybody looked forward to his classes. He is funny, respectful, and he really wants you to learn.

I was dreading this class because I am very shy and do not like standing in front of groups of people. Professor Lewis definitely helped me with my fear and made everyone feel comfortable being in front of the class. His quizzes are super easy and open book. His lectures are humorous and fascinating so you are not falling asleep.

Professor Jud was pretty good, there is kind of a lot of homework but almost all of it is pretty easy, you WILL need the textbook. He is super funny and friendly but will mark you down on assignments for some pretty odd things that I have never been marked down for before. Professor Judson is HANDS down the best professor at NOVA. This is coming from a student that absolutely hates public speaking so this was the class that I dreaded the most. It didn't take long before it was my favorite one to go to. He makes class so much fun and it really an amazing person. Take him, you won't regret it.

I loved developing my voice in persuasive argumentation. Trying to be knowledgeable about everything proves to be anyone's downfall. What's important is to look over the grading criteria and the assignments. Then, gradually work to complete them. The textbook was helpful.

Loved taking his class. This is a Public Speaking class so speaking in front of the class is required. He provides great feedback and the actual written work isn't too intensive. He's also extremely funny. I recommend taking his class and wish I could have taken more. I highly recommend him even if you're intimidated by Public Speaking.

Professor Lewis is a great guy. I took his online 6 week class and it was super easy, just a lot of homework. The homework isn't hard, it's basically just a bunch of quizzes but the answers are all in the book that is required for the class and some speeches. I didn't do two quizzes on time but he let me take them with no points off.

Professor Lewis truly wants his students to succeed. His assignments are clear and zoom participation is needed. His classes are always so fun and put you in a good mood. There is no reason to leave his class without a good grade, he works with you, but like any professor, you gotta meet them halfway.

Lewis' classes are easy and light. The quizzes are straight from the textbook and as long as you are half decent at public speaking, his class will be an easy A. Be prepared for classes completely filled with student presentations and little actual content. Though this should be expected in a communications class, to do lots of real communicating.

Hes a great teacher! Lectures are always fun and interesting. He gives everyone great feedback and adds a positive spin to everything which helps you be more comfortable with public speaking. The quizzes are based off the textbook and he has creative assignments and actually allows you to be creative and is not critical if its not how he wants.

In this class, there are 3 big speech assginments. Before you make a speech, he will provide a feedback. And every class, you need to participate a short speech. He will not provide a criteria of speeches, but he is a good grader.

I took this class for spring 2025 and this professor was hilarious and not a tougher grader and very easy going. Loved the lectures they weren't boring he makes jokes which makes the class entertaining. No final exam but we have a group presentation. A lot of quizzes so be prepared. But other than that 10/10.
