Easy course. Personable Teacher. Don't bother buying the book! Only thing used for is vocab. Just copy someone elses.

An easy course if you show up and do the work. Lots of written assignments, most of which are just busy work. Tests are very hard and don't neccesarily relate to reading or lectures, but there are plenty of class assignments and extra credit work.

Take this professor! She is very easy! The Exams are exactly what she tells you to study. We have vocabulary words for each chapter. Turn all of them in you will get a 100! Then she picks 10 vocabulary words from the chapter to quiz you on! If you study you will get a 100! Barely any lectures though

Dr. Allen's class is a joke. Its an easy A if you interact with her enough. TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK TALK, more specificly to her and its a breeze.

The class itself is not difficult but there are alot of assignments that she grades really hard on. It is next to impossible to get a 95 to exempt the final. She does know alot about the subject and is very willing to help students both inside the class and outside the class.

Very intereting class, very talkive. gives alot of vocabulary quizzes, but will not give you a word bank. quizzes difficult, but test easy. Very caring person, but also intelligent and successful. will not take any mess. i would take her again...

Dr. Allen is a very caring teacher. She hardly gives notes, but when she reviews for the tests, they are exactly what she says they are. Alot of work and ALOT of vocabulary. She is very helpful in and out of class, but participation is they key to your grade.

GREAT TEACHER! She may have favorites but they are the ones who perform. She likes class discussion but it is not required. I exempted both terms i had her. she is wonderful and really cares about her students. Take her! Study for vocab quizzes though! Tests are easy. Highly Recommended!!!!!!!

There are a lot of class work and assignments that take too much time. Alot of talking and discussion in class and her exams can be tricky. The final is worth a lot of points. You can have an A going into the final and end up with a B in the class. Participation in class is a big part of your grade. Get on her good side and you'll do fine.

awesome teacher. missed a couple classes because of having surgery and jury duty, but thats TOTALLY acceptable! she was so enthusiastic and fair. her tests and quizzes are easy, just do the vocab and read and you'll be fine. i wish all teachers were like her! oh, and talk in class! class participation is 25% of your grade!

In my opinion made it too easy for students to make an A. All you have to do is show up to class and talk, do the vocabulary and turn in all of your assignments which sometimes seemed like an excuse to give people an A. If you have a 95 average in the class you exempt the final which is great! If you want an easy A take this class!

EASY EASY EASY EASY! Vocab quizzes just about every week. One midterm. You only have to take the final if you don't have a 95 in the class. But the final was a breeze anyway. There are about 13 different assignments but they were EXTREMELY easy. TREATS US LIKE KIDS BUT ITS WORTH THE EASY A

I love Dr. Allen. She is an amazing professor and very inspirational. She really knows what she's talking about. However, she had to quit teaching our class half way through semester because she was diagnosed with cancer. She's a very easy professor and gives plenty of opportunity to bring your grade up. I love Dr.Allen and def. recommend her

she is my favorite professor i have ever had. she is funny and interesting. she gives all the information you need on power points. its an easy A if you do the homework..which isnt much. and just study the power point notes for the test.

Dr. Allen is a very good professor. Clearly understands sociology to the fullest. Fun and interesting. Only downside is that there are daily assignments and attendance affects grade in class (high school all over again). Do the assignments and attend class and you will do very well.

Dr. Allen expects you to work for your grade and contribute to the class discussions. Her tests are a little tricky but as long as you are in class when she gives the review and take good notes to study beforehand you will make an "A". Very insightful and gives interesting lectures. Liked her so much I am taking a second class with her this fall.

Incredible woman in general. As far as being a professor, she tells you 90% of what is on the test, the rest comes from the book (which I never even opened). Gives specific guidelines as far as grading is concerned to include a grade sheet.

Very good teacher. She really cares about her students and allows you to be exempt from the final. Basically, take notes, pay attention, and do all the little assignments and you'll get an A. She is available to help and just don't blow her class off.

Be sure to speak up and participate in class. Dr. Allen wants students to succeed but you have to meet her halfway. Keep up with all your tests, grades and assignments. You will turn in your notebook at the end of the semester. You really only need the book to complete the vocab assignments.

Her teaching style is like highschool. You have to keep a notebook, daily assaignments, and vocab. However, if you can keep up with it all and you have a 95 or above, you can exempt the final. She really is an interresting teacher and the class is fun. I would take her for other classes.

The class was fun until she made an error on the power point/test and got VERY argumentative and defensive about it in class. Despite the fact that everyone had the notes the same we were all wrong. After the first test it seemed as if she stopped teaching and went to busy work mode. It's possible to get an A if study and go to class and talk.

Professor Allen is a very nice person, there is a LOT of busy work and you probably wont learn anything about Sociology but if you need an easy A or B you will get it. I did not study and ended up with a B in a maymester.

Dr. Allen is such an inspiration! She is a survivor! Would highly recommend! I made a 97 average total for the class! She is an amazing professor who truly loves what she does! She inspired me more than anyone ever has in my life. A+ professor!

This was my favorite class so far. Dr.Allen is smart, kind, and cares about people. There was some busy work however I learned more in her class then any other in the last three years. I loved going to her class and always had a good time. She keeps your attention and leaves you missing her class when the semester is over. :)

Awesome Teacher! Gives vocab quizzes which you must do good in--it is fill in blank and she does not give word bank. You get to exempt final if you have 95+ in class! Very nice and will learn EVERYONES names in class so dont skip class cause she will def, know! tests arent really that difficult if you study ALL NOTES! book only used 4 vocabulary :)

I took her Maymester course and found her to be a great teacher, knowledgable and passionate about her field. Coursework was fairly light, some nightly reading & 5 reading responses, and a 5 page paper analyzing the sociological content of a film (off a given list). I'd completely recommend taking her.

Has a unique style of teaching and enjoys talking about her family. Interesting stories that relate to topic make the class interesting. Easy tests if you study notes. Don't skip class...LOTS of class participation assignments. Easy "A" if you attend class, take notes, and do vocab.

There is not enough room to say how much I liked Dr. Allen. While she may have been repetitive with personal stories at times (which to me was very annoying but others enjoyed the waste of class time), she truly loves her field and will do anything she can to help students succeed. She is a GREAT contact to keep at KSU.

I didn't have much respect for her as a professor, I found her egotistical and contradictory in her stories. She knows how to work people's emotions. The class was easy but some of her assignments are graded subjectively. She gives a lot of bonus points on tests which is helpful and her lectures aren't boring.

Ez A. 2 tests & can exempt the final if u have an A+. Dr. Allen will tell you 90% of what will be on the tests! Most important thing is to come to class (if not expect a C). It's not mandatory but 25% of ur grade is class part.Extra credit is available for both tests. Lit bit of hw outside class but ez & quick.6 voc quiz(just study). A+ Professor!

Easy A. Attendance=35% of your grade so if u don't plan on showing up you'll fail & excused absences are rarely accepted. No book for this class which made it easier since everything is n the ppt. Two test and a final. If you have a 95+ then you're exempt from the final. We had a paper/presentation on a senior citizen, which was easy. Just make sure you show up for it or you will have a hard time passing. We watched like three movies. Daily assignment are very short and very easy. Class is an easy A if you read the power points and show up.

An easy course. Make sure youre connected with prof and make sure you read PowerPoint slides whereas your test will come from. You must be in class to do participation which is a set of assignments so attendance is mandatory.

Mrs. Allen is awesome. You can tell she really cares about her students and she is very passionate about what she does. Make sure you speak up in class though; that's where your participation points come from. Only downside is she doesn't give out a syllabus, so you have to be in class to know when things are due.

I really enjoyed her classes. The course is really easy just make sure you are in class because you never know when you will have CP's. She is always willing to help! Easy AB course. Cares about the students and will work with you. Study for vocab quizzes (abt 5) and you will be fine. Done the assignments and show up to class to do the CP's and you'll be fine. Tests are fine because she gives you a study guide. Participate. Exemptions are 95 plus average in the class. Final was super easy. Got a B in the class!

Dr. Allen is one of the most amazing people you will ever meet. She would do anything to help any student as long as you're willing to help yourself. Class is not difficult if you show up and follow directions. Assignments are not too bad, but you have to pay very close attention to all of her instructions in class, as she does not post any online.

Dr. Allen is a fantastic speaker, but depending on the material her lectures can range from very dull to very inpirational and fun to listen to. She assigns homework pretty frequently but it is ussually very quick and easy. The class isnt extremley easy but it isnt hard.

AMAZING teacher!! She lets you exempt the final if you do well in her class. Keeps the work simple and easy. Vocab quizzes every now and then (probably the only hard thing about the class mostly cause I didn't try to study). Yet I still exempted because her tests are straight from the notes. I enjoyed Professor Allen and her genuineness. Although there were small mishaps, for instance; changing her mind about a lot and not clear on turn in dates, I still enjoyed her passion as a professor. Wonderful human. Her class is based on PowerPoint, discussion and a heavy emphasis on Jane Austen movies. These quizzes are superficial and there's not real discussion about the movie. I feel like this class was a memorization course, but only for obscurities. Exams and quizzes focused heavily on exact wording, not really whether you understood.

This teacher knows a lot about the subject. Even though her stories often time take up the place of lectures, she always finds a way to tie her stories and life experiences back to the lesson. I love this teacher and would totally take her again!!!

This professor is absolutely amazing. Id 100% take her class again. Class discussions are always interesting and never biased. Skip class alot &you fail. Textbook is needed. If u do well all semester, ur rewarded by exempting the final if u have a 95 on exemption day. Lecture style is laid-back and engaging. She makes herself readily available for students. She will work with u if ur willing to work hard. Shes also a no-nonsense prof. So dont slack and expect her mercy.

Overall Prof Allen wasnt that bad, but I emailed her a couple of times and never got a reply so sometimes I was confused. Her tests have unclear questions with trick answers. But honestly the assignments werent difficult and it didnt take up a lot of time to get them done.

I took soci 1101 with Dr. Allen, and when I found out she was teaching this class I was so happy! l 2 unit tests, 1 major presentation, chapter vocab grades, online quizzes and assignments. Tests are not hard, review her power points and you'll be fine. She tells you on day one what she expects from you, it's 100% doable. Not a hard class.

Dr. Allen really cares about her students understanding the material. Assignments and quizzes are simply and straight forward- for the most part. Tests are tough. Material from lectures are very important, as well as textbook readings and short stories, and assigned videos. Make sure to pace yourself and study the study guides.

she was very rude to me in the beginning when i failed the first test by two points. Told me i would never make it in the nursing program. After that she was nice, and willing to work with me. Vocabulary quizzes were extremely easy & her lectures werent boring. She did tend to get off topic and talk about her personal life but overall great class.

I don't understand all her negative reviews, she is by far one of the BEST professors I've had at KSU. She is always sweet and helpful. This class is largely class discussions about the topic we are covering, so participate. Do well on everything throughout the semester and she'll exempt you from the final. This was my first semester taking my upper Sociology courses. Dr. Allen is an amazing professor and it's no wonder why her students love her so much! Do NOT believe the negative reviews. Dr. Allen is a really great professor! She really cares about her students. If you go to class and do your work on time you will pass. The assignments arent difficult and she exempts you from the final if you have a 92 or higher (which is easy to obtain if you do the work). I highly recommend this class!

Dr. Allen was such an amazing professor. I took her May-mester Sociology 1101. Self-paced, but clear guidelines and due dates. Dr. Allen gives good feedback, and will sing your praises when she can tell you work hard on and gave a great deal of thought to your assignment. She pushes students to think outside of the box. However, she is encouraging and gives crystal clear syllabus, rubrics, and directions. My advice to incoming students are to get a planner, schedule in advance, ready, and commit to doing your best ! She is one of the best hands down

Relatively easy class so long as you read and study the PowerPoints she provides and use the provided textbook. As long as you do all the assigned work, you shouldnt get a grade lower than a B. The quizzes are typically long and moderately difficult but nothing was overly unfair. She will also try send out reminder emails which was helpful.

I'm not sure why her ratings are so low. She genuinely cares about every student. The work is literally so easy and her lectures are never boring. If you read the power points and do the study guides it is a guaranteed A.

her ratings do not match the professor she is. She genuinely advocates for her students in and outside of her class. There were 2 tests, a final, and homework over the semester. She answers all your questions and makes all her tests straightforward. As long as you do your work she gives you chances and is understanding, you should get an A.

This is definitely one of my favorite professors at KSU. She is helpful, kind, and genuinely cares for her students. As long as you come to class, you should get an A in her class. She continuously gives really good advice to nursing students, and she even advised me to minor in medical sociology, which is great for getting into the nursing program

Definitely one of my favorite professors I've ever had at KSU! Take her class. Professor Allen, never fails to give the best advice for nursing students. She is always willing to help her students whenever you are struggling with something. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, she's amazing! I recommend

So sweet and helpful. She does tend to ramble a lot during class but all it takes is somebody to redirect her. Assignments are straightforward and easy but they make you think. If you have questions, email and she will help you in whatever way she can. Go to class because sometimes she asks questions for an easy 100.

Dr. Allen is a really sweet teacher. She sends tons of emails reminding you of due dates. She over-explains the criteria for her assignments, so it's impossible to do wrong. The test follow the study guide and are not hard at all. She even let us retake our first test because we weren't doing well. I don't get the bad reviews.

Dr. Allen is an amazing professor and just an overall super inspirational person! She sends out weekly "Heads Up" emails with reminders and has around one assignment due a week. It's obvious she cares about her students and is willing to go above and beyond for anyone. The class itself is an easy A and Dr. Allen makes everything interesting.

Attendance was mandatory in her class, so do not miss any days because sometimes she assigns work that needs to be turned in during that class period. If you have any questions and email her, she gets back you to you pretty quickly. Just turn in your work and show up to class.

Professor Judy is sweet and will send reminder emails weekly. However, her tests rarely line up with the PowerPoints or the chapters she tells you to study. She also sometimes doesn't explain the assignments very well, or the instructions will be different depending on what folder you're in.

class can be tough if you don't stay on-top of everything, but is a very effective teacher and wants the best for students. She also is very considerate of students, but also strives to treat everyone fairly so usually she's not that lenient with certain situations. I struggled in her class a little bit throughout the semester but it ended well!

Professor Allen's SOC1101 class can be challenging, but engaging if you stay on top of things. Attendance is a must, and the workload is manageable with dedication. Unstuckstudy AI was a huge help for my study prep - definitely check it out alongside the course materials.

This is the most kind and understanding professor I have ever had. She gives many extra credit opportunities and genuinely cares about every single one of her students. As long as you attend class it is nearly impossible to get a B in her class. My favorite professor by far.

Best professors I've ever had. I don't get it why negative comments coz she's the opposite.She is sooo clear in what her expectations are. She would send email reminders and also remind in class for any upcoming quiz or assignment. She has inspired me and many in my class in beautiful ways. Dr. Allen talks a lot about herself, but it's honestly more interesting than the material. She's super nice and will work with you if you participate. She gives grades on paper but puts in a 0 if it's not uploaded. Tests are on lockdown, and she takes attendance. Overall, interesting class.

I love Dr. Allen. She's very personable and if you follow her assignment rubrics exactly you will do good on assignments. Quizzes and exam are web/lockdown. I have taken 3 classes with her and if you do the work and show her you care she will give you the same energy! in her intro class f2f she offered lots of extra credit opportunities!!

Professor Allen was awesome. The classes are lecture heavy, but she makes every class feel like its a big group discussion which I like.
