She teaches really fast and her grading is fairly but not easy...She's funny and she doesn't like anyone who is funnier than she is.

She is realy cool and funny and helps a lot to improve your writing skills.Grading is not easy,but it is fear.

She is such a great teacher, she helps and pushes you to understand writing. Her teaching method is easy to follow, she not hard but not easy. All you gotta do is try your best and she'll be there to help you along the way.

She is a very easy teacher. Just read all the stories and you will do fine. If you don't get an A, that's because you are not doing the reading. All you read are stories like Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, etc. Take this class if you want a easy A.

She's a little nutty, but the class was easy. There's lots of reading. If you think you can skip the reading you'll fail! She's easy going about assignments and papers, very understanding if you need an extension. I don't think she keeps track of grades, so don't expect a progress report.

I don't really understand all the previous ratings, coz Judy is EXTREMELY helpful. Getting an A becomes really easy when u know exactly wat u r supposed to have in ur paper (go to her office if u have any question), and do ur reading be4 coming to her class. Strongly recommend !!!!

Reading is a must, it's long and tedious but you won't pass without doing it. I didn't really like the material once into the class but not b/c of her, she' great.

She was a cool teacher or at least she tried to be. Only thing I didn't like about her was that she favored students. If she didn't think you did things up to your potential she was harder on you. Expected too much from certain groups.

This is such a fun class, it is really easy too, as long as you do the readings, the only hard part was the quiz on myths, b/c you had to remember the character's names, but besides that it was easy, and even if you bomb 2-3 quizes u can still get an A

I came into college fearing English classes but this was a good one. She is extremely nice and very accepting of the opinions of the class (as long as you have evidence to prove it.) She doesn't give a break in the middle of a long class but it still goes by faster than most other classes do since there's a lot of discussion and inclass groupwork.

She is ok. I felt that her class was hard. she is pushy. And she gets really angry if students dont do HW. She sends u outta teh classroom.

Judy is a great teacher. She genuinely wants her students to learn and enjoy the class. She gives little quizes to make sure you are keeping up on the reading, which isn't too heavy. My advice would be to show up and participate, she loves to have an engaging class. Remember, Children's Lit is supposed to be fun!

She's a fair grader, good helpful teacher, a bit boring, but a good teacher to take with just to get over with it. The final is the portfolio which I think wouldn't be too hard, and this is just a P/NP class, so a good teacher and will gladly help you if you come during office hours.

Judy is a wonderful teacher. She is always smiling and wanting to help her students. The reading is fun but near the end of the quarter gets a little longer (to be expected in an ELIT class). Just read the short stories and the class, quizzes and tests will be easy!

Mrs. Judy was one of the SWEETEST teachers i ever had. She has an attendance policy you can't miss more than 2, but if you have things that come up (like i did) she understands. Work isn't TOO hard, she helps you as much as she can on your portfolio. She makes class interesting and shows TV shows for class assignments (which is pretty cool!)<3 her!

So far, she seems wonderful. Good at guiding the conversations and she is interested in pondering other perspectives. The class itself is pretty easy as well. I've already learned stuff on the second day. I highly recommend.

Judy is real nice. although her smile looks like a chickens smile from the chicken run movie so that makes her classes like 20 times better. besides that shes really helpful shes kind of funny but she can get on your case if you are late or something but all in all good teacher.

Judy is one of the nicest teachers. I had her for this and mythology last spring. While I didn't do well in mythology, I did well in the EWRT1A class. She's really helpful and nice. Just talk to her and she'll help you with anything. Essays are pretty easy, books are easy reads.

Only 3 absences allowed. Good teacher, over-all. Essays are kind of abundant. But, she's very attentive to her students. She sensed I was having trouble and she helped me after class. Summer quarter '10: nice and affable lady.3 absences allowed b4 drops you but towards the end doesn't really care. Txtbook is a $20 packet from her. Total 5 essays (2 in-class). Easy pop quizzes after readin' assignments. In-class participation=25 pts=first essay so open your mouth and SPEAK UP. Let you revise 2 essays. Easy A if strive.

i really liked her. i was worried about this class being difficult but she is clear and very helpful. she takes time after class to help you out if you need it and lets you make changes to your essay to get a better grade. i definitely recommend her for english 1A. overall easy class.

loved her! she's so down to earth and the subject itself (Mythology&Folklore) is just interesting in itself. I actually enjoyed reading all the stories and didn't have to force myself to. Just be sure to have the people you work with enjoy it too because you do a lot of group work. Midterm/Final is SUPER easy. No way to fail this class.

Proffessor Hubbard is a really great instructor! :) I really recommend taking her class because she's very helpful when you need her help. Judy is a great teacher. Super funny! She gives you all the tools to figure out the stories and is great about accepting differing opinions as long as you can back them up. You absolutely must keep up with your readings to do well in this class. Lots of group work and presentations but they're fun.

Judy is nice and is understanding of scheduling conflicts. Only hwk is short/quick reading every day. You can eat in class! The first 2 weeks were dry because of lectures, but after that it's mostly partner/group work that involves talking and socializing. Concepts are easy to grasp. 1 midterm, 1 test, 1 final group project, & 1 essay.

OMG. This class is a joke. She teaches straight from the internet, and all she does is place people into group projects because it's obvious she is really bad at teaching... If you think this class will be an easy A, you should reconsider taking a class that might actually benefit you.. Such a waste of time.

Judy was very helpful, and I feel like my writing has improved a lot after I took her class. She goes over the structure of each essay in class and allows revisions for all essays except for in-class essays. I would take her again.

Honestly she's the best writing teacher I ever had. The material in her class is really interesting because she likes to make it revenant to our present day world. Follow her instructions, and you'll be fine. She really cares about everyone equally and is always available outside of class. I'm going to take ENLGISH 1A with her.

If you read the book, keep up with the homework, and ask questions when needed, the class is easy. A lot of the quizzes are open book/note. You get to bring in a rough draft of your essay for feedback before its due.

I am an international student who has some problems with grammar. She explains carefully and I can see why I make mistakes and correct them. When you correct, you get full credit.

Mrs. Judy is very kind and is more than willing to help you in any of the essays/assignments that you have in the class and personally one of my favorite teachers at De Anza. As long as you follow what you need to do in class, you'll have no problem passing. Would definitely take her again! :)

Great teacher, would recommend to anyone who really wants to learn analysis. I had a hard time understanding the behind meaning of books but she helped me improve this a lot. She will stay after class and help you in her office hours as much as you need. She will even write a whole paragraph on the board just as an example for you.

The other reviews are pretty much accurate, but I also would add that make sure you really know how to analyze your reading! Most of the essays and discussions are more or less about analysis of what you read. If you're struggling, don't be afraid to tell her because she will provide a lot of help!

A very good and enthusiastic professor. It's an English class about Women's Lit so you have to read feminist-related books and academic journals along with writing the essays, but she provides valuable feedback. Plus, the homework she assigns gives you material for your essays so you're able to kill two birds with one stone.

Judy is the best English teacher I've ever had. No kidding. We got one book to read, four essays to write about the book. There will be discussion posts and quizzes mainly about analyzing the book. Only some of them are about grammar techniques. Her comments on my essay encourage me a lot. I've done so much better than I thought I could!

This is my second time taking Judy Hubbard's English classes. I want to thank Professor for the great Women in Literature course, and I have learned a lot of valuable insights from the Professor's critical viewpoint that I had not thought of. Professor was also very supportive as I experienced my family issues. I definitely recommend this class.

She is such a sweet professor, definitely enjoyed hearing her perspectives on my papers! There are required books to buy/rent, though I think they're all worth the read. The topics we cover are super interesting, I definitely can say I've learned new perspectives from this class. The content definitely gets you thinking!
