Awesome teacher, she tries really hard to help you understand the subject matter
Professor Lansdale is a great teacher. She does her best to make all of her students understand the material she is teaching. She does this through fun class activities so if you hate sitting through long, boring lectures take a course from her.
Very good teaching methods. Wonderful activities to help you understand the material presented in class. There is a lot of work to do, but the grading scale is nice(100-80A, etc.)!

She's a great professor when it comes to lecturing, but her tests are so hard!!!!
Really cares about her students. Grading is fair. Explains so you can understand. If you go to class and print off study material you will do fine.
pretty good for someone (myself) that hates biology. she made it interesting, take lab with her if you can!

lonsdale will help you in any way she can. she is a great professor.
She was really great with the lectureing, but is somewhat unclear about what is on the tests and they are VERY HARD! In high School A and P was a cake walk this was like a fire walk
One of my favorite teachers I've had so far. Always available to help if you have any problems or questions...which is great considering we had over 100 students in class. Tests weren't too bad, if you study for them. The tutor site helped a ton, and reading the conclusion of each chapter really helped me out too.
biology on line, all-in-all not to terribly bad for the hard worker though the intructor would not even allow leeway when the answers she (or someone) marked as wrong could be disputed via specific pages in the text... :(
I learned alot in this class, however it seemed as though the tests were utilized to screw the students, the questions were so hard! Average class test scores last time were 57% if that gives you an idea of how impossible the tests are.
Judy is the best teacher that i have ever had in my college life :D If you take her, be ready to learn biology, becuase she will make the tests very hard and u have to know the answer in order to pass the class. I like her a lot and i am taking another class next simeter.
Awesome teacher. Lecture can get confusing sometimes, but there is a lot of fun and interesting material. Tests are hard and confusing, but that's what makes you study more and learn more!
Nice lady and not a bad teacher. If you aren't really in to her class, you won't do that well. It takes alot of dedication and studying to get the grade. Everyone tells me that Koob is the better instructor for this course... what do they know though?
If you take her for 227, it's better off downloading powerpoints and self studying from the book because she tests on things that she doesn't talk about in class. Granted she's a good lecturer and things are interesting, if you study her notes you won't get anywhere. It's pretty hard. My bf loved her for Human Biol but for 227 she is......yeah.
Lectures are long, but she is usually entertaining in some sense. Be prepared to study A LOT for this class. You must know the answer in order to get it right, but if you go to lectures, read the text, and study on a regular basis before exam you should be fine. This class is based on being prepared!
I went to her class, took notes, and studied and got D's on tests. I decided not to go and just read the book and i got B's or A's. Her lectures are basically worthless. But the good thing about this class is she adds points on almost every test to make up for horrible class averages.
Very hard professor, but you learn the information. Her tests seem to be designed to trip us - I felt like I'd never seen the information before even though I'd been in class every day! I like her a lot, though, and will be taking another class from her next semester. She's very friendly!!
Great prof! Really enjoys Biology and likes teaching it. Makes things interesting and readily answers questions and aids in clarification.
She is very enthusiastic about teaching and tells you a lot of interesting facts along with what you actually have to learn. Just study the notes she gives you, and takes notes while she talks and you'll be fine. I never used my book unless I wanted to see a picture of something, the tests are straight out of the notes.
Online Biology--LOTS OF WORK the notes regarding the class said 12 hours worth of work a week. It takes 25 hours of work a week. The labs alone take 8 hours to complete. THE TESTS ARE DIFFICULT AND FEEL YOU ARE SET UP TO FAIL. I would not recommend online biology
Judy's exams are rediculous! She likes to make exam questions hard to understand - she's the only one that knows exactly what they mean. Her exams questions have more than one correct answer that are so dang close to each other it's hard to decifer!
yes her tests are very confusing and it feels like she wants you to realy know the stuff but the thing i hate is if you skip it in leture you get it in lab you take what is equal to two 4 credit classes for only 4 stupid credits. dont ever get behind you will be trampled on with the new info.
Lonsdale knows what she's talking about, but goes pretty fast. Print out the powerpoint for the chapter you are learning before class, because it's easier to understand what she's talking about than taking notes in a notebook. Come to class everyday, even though it's not required for lecture. Lab is required.
Great personality enjoyable lecture. The tests were incredibly difficult, She says she wants you to understand how it all works not just memorize. To me it seemed like you had to memorize everything and be a biologist to understand her questions. be warned...
Judy is a nice lady, but her lectures are so-so. I have learned so much in this class. A&P is not for the weak of heart. You have to dedicate yourself to studying & mastering the material. Yes the tests are terribly hard (done at blackboard testing) and the material gets out of hand. Be prepared to learn and study like you've never done before.
Her exams are difficult they are confusing. If you're bad at exams dont take her!
judy is a very fun teacher. she tries to explain things utnil it is generally understood by all in her lecture. The material is confusing so you do need to study. Her tests are extremely hard. avg:77 so you have to work hard in both lecture and lab.
Judy is a nice lady but Biol 227 requires a lot of work & dedication. We go through things very fast & you learn SO much in this class. There's 8 tests total, and you get to drop one test. Tests are done at Blackboard testing & they are HARD. I study constantly for this class. Print out the notes, attend lecture & tutoring, & study hard.
Very knowledgable and enthusiastic for the subject. Great teacher!
EXTREMELY difficult for a freshmen level non majors class. Students consistently fail most of her tests because they are so difficult. Expect to spend atleast 20 hours per week studying if you expect a good grade. She is very friendly and a good lecturer, but the material is to complex to have tests covering 4 weeks of instruction/reading.
Love love love Judy Lonsdale. She is definitely tough though so expect so spend some time studying. She is an awesome teacher and tries to make sure students understand the material. She uses visual aids. She is just great, I reccommend her!
Judy is awesome. She is a magnificent teacher who is obviously passionate about her subject. She makes her lectures easy to understand - even with complex topics. She is funny and fun to listen to. The only problem I had was sometimes she goes pretty fast in lecture and her tests are REALLY tough. If you want a good class, go for judy.
It's a very tough class, but Judy does a great job explaining the concepts. Her notes are helpful too. It's highly recommended to go to the tutoring sessions and the tests are very hard because she randomizes every test. However, you get to drop a test and the final is not comprehensive.
Judy is awesome and gives you all the information you will need for test. This is college so of course material will be in depth- dont take it for an easy A. Attend lecture, pay attention, and use the book if you arent sure of something.
She can be a difficult prof but if you go to class and take notes you'll do fine. Also go to lab each week. There are weekly lecture quizzes every Friday so be sure to take them. The first 6 wks seems hard but she points out that the first test is the hardest. If there is a low class average she will grade on a curve. She is ok, nothing special.
Really challenging class. You don't ever use the textbook really because she does powerpoints and gives you notes on them in her lecture. Attendance is not required, but go to it! Everything from her test is from lecture and she goes over a lot. Tests are hard and done online with randomized questions, but she doesn't give a comp. final.
Very helpful...I was struggling and went in and talked to her and she made things very clear and easy to understand...very nice lady:)
She taught like we were little kids, very frustrating. Also, gave us words but no definitions and then tested on the definitions. Lovely woman, but frustrating teaching methods.
Lonsdale teaches you like you're still in high school, but tests you like you're in college. I found her tests very hard, although I didn't attend lecture very often because I wasn't motivated to do so. It's great to not have to attend lecture due to illness, but not great to not be motivated to attend. I bought the book and would recommend it.
I think she needs to use other examples instead of an aisle their pretty useless, and used for everything. Its way too easy to mix up.
Great prof if your at college to learn, not the class to skip. Tests over lectures. I recommend her if you like bio... Not an easy A but that's why its called bio and not comm :)
Great Prof! She really does care about what she's teaching, and is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you understand concepts. Tests are based on daily lecture notes, although you're not req'd to attend, you miss a LOT in a day. Makes lecture powerpoints available online, and is willing to give extra help if you need it.
Tests are not taken from lecture material OR the text. Not really sure where she gets her information, but don't expect ANY help on the test. Take another professor if at all possible!
This professor is great. She is very funny and she makes her powerpoints available on BB, although I would recommend going to class. Her tests are not very hard, but you want to go to lecture if you want to get an A or B in her class. I'd recommend her!
Hardest professor I've ever had and I'm a junior! She makes it way to difficult for an introduction class!!!
I learned more on my own than I ever did in lecture. Most of her questions on tests are poorly worded, and nit picking for something she said in the middle of a lecture that she didn't express much importance in. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! She's a joke.
She stays on topic the whole class period. There is a ton of information in all of her lectures so it is beneficial to go to class. I have not once used the book unless it was looking at a diagram. The test are sometimes worded in a strange manner but overall it is a very interesting class.
Professor Lonsdale was a great teacher! She gives notes on Black Board and the weekly quizzes are based off of the notes and in-class content. Attendance was not mandatory, but I highly recommend attending every class. Biology is a complex subject and takes effort to fully understand. Tests are hard, but if you study you will do well.
She really cares and is very interesting to talk to!
A&P is hard. Judy goes over the material and emphasizes the important portions. She teaches and explains thing the way they will be on the test. The tests are hard. AT majors have fun with this class your freshman year (if you want to graduate in 4 years). The lab teachers are clueless or don't speak english. Judy does a good job.
She is very helpfull. Her powerpoint on the test! Extra credit was available for our class. Great professor.
Judy was always helpful with questions in class and in emails, and her lectures stayed on topic. Taking notes on her PowerPoint slides and demonstrations helps. I suggest attending class even though it's not mandatory because her lectures 1) relate to tests, and 2) are interesting!
Judy gives awesome analogies that help with understanding the topic. The course is a firehose course, lots of info to absorb but there are tutors for the class. Enjoyable to listen to, PP are helpful, and so are her demonstrations. Her sense of humor is awesome too. This is my favorite class.
So I really enjoyed her lecture; HOWEVER, her tests were extremely hard and ambiguous in sense where her questions were very easy to mix up, i'd avoid her just because of her exams. This class honestly frustrated me to the point where i stopped going to lecture and studied and read independently.
If you are going to take this class I would GO to the lecture, study the notes EVERYDAY, and be serious about it. The professor is intelligent. Listen to her. I started recording lectures which is kind of different, but helps. Skim the book. LOOK AT THE PICTURES.
This class is meant to challenge you. I had very little knowledge of Biology before this class and she was able to help me understand it. Plus there are tutor sessions available that help too.If you go Everyday, listen and take notes you will do great on her tests. She gets the class involved and is fun to listen to.I would recommend her to ANYONE!
She was extremely interesting to listen to in her lectures. Uses plenty of examples and her powerpoints are extremely clear and helpful! You do have to study for her class, but she has tutor sessions and is willing to meet outside of class. Rarely used the book. I recommend her to anybody!
Always study in the class. Go to the tutor. Do the question on the power point during classes. Take quizzes she posts for the lecture classes. Go to the labs.
Cool to listen to, pretty clear on lectures. She uses interactive examples. SHOW UP ON TIME, AND DON'T LEAVE EARLY UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE EMBARRASSED. Go to the lab, she grades on a curve as well so that helps quite a bit on exams. If you don't go, you have very little hope of passing.
Awesome lecture. Very clear and used lots of examples to remember and have material make sense. Powerpoints are on Blackboard, but go to class for deeper understanding. Not much studying if you understand. Tutor available - helps a lot, too. Very personable.
Take her class!Shes awesome! The material is hard but she teaches it well n wat u learn it sticks.Shes clear on wat to expect on tests n finals n her ppt slides r xtremely important.make sure to attend class daily n listen well.take lots of notes because tests r on notes n demos.shes funny n fun!
Very fun and interesting Prof, semi-difficult subject, lot of info! very fair and thorough. Lots of extra credit opps!!!
She is a super awesome teacher. Anatomy is really hard but she teaches it in a way that is easier to understand. She is very approachable and to explain things in class she can get very crazy yelling and running. I would suggest this professor!
BIO 100 WITH HER WAS THE HARDEST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! If you must take this class than she is the one to take it from. She is a good teacher but the material is extremely tough. Expect to spend 10 hours studying each day during exam week. I worked my butt off on this class and barley pulled off a B. All my friends failed!
great teacher she rly knows her stuff. i think the tests are pretty hard myself. but her lectures give tons of notes to help. also, you DO NOT have to buy the book. i haven't used it once. you can study with notes alone
This class is hard no matter who you take it from. Lonsdale does a great job teaching and uses a lot of relative examples (unlike Koob) that really help you grasp the concepts. Her exam q's come straight from the lecture notes. GO TO CLASS! Study hard. Lonsdale knows her stuff and is very helpful, but you have to study to earn your grade.
this class isnt an easy A. there is a lot of info coming at you and its pretty tricky. however, she gives you more than enough opportunities to pass. if you put forth effort you should do fine, but it requires alot of it. good teacher though, class was interesting, lab smelt funny..
She wastes a lot of class time by always starting late and trying to get the class to memorize all the info that day instead of just teaching and letting us study on our own. It's 3 weeks before the final and we're behind 3 chapters. She also gives alot of useless info that she nevers tests on and it isn't in the book.
She was great in class but gets off topic a lot. If you are a book person this is not the professor to have. She is easy to listen to but the material is hard. I will be retaking this class to get a better grade. It is not the professor!!!! It is the material!!! Suggestion, take this class with fluff classes.
Really enjoyed this professor. Made the subject interesting and enjoyable.
Judy is an excellent teacher. She knows her stuff and teaches it well. She expects a lot from her students. Her tests come from her lectures, so go to class. She makes class fun and is willing to help you as long as you schedule a time to meet with her. I would recommend her to anyone.
This class is very hard, but you HAVE to go to class to understand everything. Judy does a great job explaining and she makes life ALOT easier for when it comes to the test..there werent alot of people coming to class so one day we wrote down 5 ?s with her for the final...very reasonable as long as you put in the effort.lab teachers are pointless
For a 100 level course the content is pretty outrageous. Biology is one of those subjects where either you're good, or you're not. I'm not. That being said, I hated the class but Judy was a great professor. She explained concepts very well. Tests are very hard though. You definitely need to attend class to do well
She is a very effective teacher, the material is difficult but she makes it very understandable in an interesting way. The way she has you take notes made it even easier to learn the material. As long as you take the class seriously and attend it regularly you should pass without a problem. I would recommend her over Koob also.
Great lecturer, but the way she words questions on weekly quizes and exams can be confusing. Grades on a different scale so there's a little more room for error, 65%=C-. She has a high fail rate, but will add points to exams depending on the outcome.
The work load is ridiculous. The exam/quiz questions are not over the material studied. I took online and had to pay extra for proctoring sites. I would not reccomend this course or professor.
This class was way harder then most 100 levels. I actually did better on the test when I studied on my own and didnt bother showing up. She wasnt the best lecturer and unfortunately has a small attention span so it was hard to follow. I would not recommend her as a professor.
She was awesome! Her tests are based directly off of her powerpoint notes. Don't skip class, even though she posts them. Great and helpful lectures - she is actually pretty entertaining. Always willing to repeat material and answer questions. Not easy, but appropriately challenging.
A&P is a very difficult class, but Judy really makes it bearable. She's witty, intelligent, and seems to care about her students. Her test are very hard, but I've never felt that they were unfair. Take good notes and use the text book to read in depth about what she emphasizes in class, and you should be able to pass!
This class depends on how much effort you put into it. Study little bits everyday and you'll do fine. Look at the pictures in the book and study the notes in class. Write down everything. Truly understand the concept, not just memorizing it. I got an A+ in this class. She's an amazing and intelligent professor. If you don't do well blame yourself.
Judy is a great lecture teacher. She is easy to understand and her power points are helpful. You must attend this class prior to getting a good great. Quizzes and tests are hard but she adds points. Big PLUS. Wouldn't say no to taking her.
The anatomy class itself is a very difficult class and takes a lot of studying but the teacher was very good. She explained things very well and class wasn't extremely boring. Although it is a class that should be regularly attended if you want a good grade.
so,so
Judy Lonsdale is the worst professor I've ever had. She rushes through everything, and doesn't make sure you understand the material before moving on. Does not care if the slides move to fast..NOTHING. She shouldn't even be allowed to teach. I found biology fairly interesting before I took her class.
Everyone always said that she was horrible.. I have taken her this semester and really have come to like her. I didn't ever think I could be close with a professor but she really helped me with my grade and understand everything during office hours. She is a good teacher if you get to know her! She
I had Judy for Bio 101 before I had her for Bio 227 and didn't appreciate her fully the first time around. However, as time went on I truly began to recognize how helpful she actually is as a professor. She tries to keep the class engaged and genuinely wants her students to succeed and learn. She is knowledgeable, funny, helpful, and kind.
Tests were all multiple choices and tricky. At least she adds like 4-7 points after each exam. Lab was fun but lecture was boring. Kind of hard class.
Judy is helpful and nice. Her tests are strictly over her power points and what she discusses in lecture. Go to class, take notes and do the homework and you will excel in this class.
Judy is a great professor. I hate Biology with a passion and it is very difficult for me, but with her help and studying I still pulled off a B! I would reccomend her to anyone!Buy the book! you will use it a ton along with the online portion
I love Judy! She's very helpful and clear in her teaching. Attendance is not manditory, but you HAVE to come to class if you want a good grade, it makes testing 100x easier. She's nice and approachable, and if you're still taking notes on a slide, you can speak up and she'll go back for you. I plan to take more classes with her!
I loved Judy! She's an awesome lecturer and uses students to explain what she's talking about. She's energetic and engaging and I would recommend taking any class from her.
She is a very good professor. She is entertaining in her lectures, and states what is on the test pretty clearly. The test are difficult, but she adds points at the end for the questions most people don't get correct. She also posts notes and power point slides on blackboard. Which is very useful. She is fair and the class isn't horribly difficult.
Mediocre class at best. She is kind of a psycho. Lectures are not mandatory but if you do go just note it is a prison you can't escape until the full class time is up. If you try to escape the prison and she sees you leaving she will call you out and get pissed!! Escaping is risky so just don't go to her class or don't take her for Bio.
Judy is really great! She answers any questions and is thorough with her notes. She doesn't test on anything that wasnt in lecture or that she didn't tell you about. Her tests are not tricky and if you know the notes you will do great on the test. Put in the time and you will get a good grade.
Really hard class. Doesn't require attendance but puts random questions on tests of things she talked about in class. Take with another prof. if you can.
She is interesting and definitely likes the class, but she puts a couple trick questions on the test that you wouldn't know. Also she gets mad when you try to leave or arrive late so I don't recommend doing that
The tests are extremely difficult and random. I went to class almost every day and still could not pass the tests. She is clearly very passionate about biology, but I would not recommend her. It is way too hard to be a 100 level course.
Best anatomy teacher at BSU. She focuses only on lecture and explains clearly. She is a great person too. Assignments are not too extensive. Work hard and youll be fine.
Awesome teacher and fun lecturer. A lot of people complain that it is too hard, but they either don't attend class or don't know how to study. Plenty of chances for extra credit. If you attend class, take good notes, and study then you will do fine. The tests are hard and the final is cumulative, so if you don't study your gonna fail.
