This was a calculus class so its expected to be hard and it was her first time teaching calc but I thought she did great. You must do your homework! She was extremly helpful, she offered 2 hours a night, 3 nights a wk along w/day time hours to ask her questions or get help w/homework. Weekly quizzes but u use your homework. Exams are somewhat hard
She is wonderful teacher.Class attendance and homework are highly required. She also helps students individually in class.Always helpful.Just take her class to know how she is.I promise you wont regrate.
She knows the topic well but it is hard to understand the way she teaches it. If you don't go to class, you will fail, even though there isn't an attendance grade. She is a very nice woman, but to get real help on the material you have to ask her for some one on one time because her lectures do not help very much. Too much reliance on the text book
she's nice and she brings a dog. She goes kind of fast when teaching. Make sure you do all homework or you'll be confused. Attend all class.
Judy is a wonderful Professor! I have a serious fear of math and because of her teaching methods I was able to work hard and actually understand the materials! I recommend her for anyone who has trouble with math. Oh also, her dog is really sweet.
Expected way too much for a 2 credit class. Made her tests difficult with problems that were different from those previously worked. I'll have to retake this class.
She is not a very good instructor. She does not explain the lessons very well and we had to continually correct her mistakes. She has zero leeway with the test and they are extremely difficult. You have to take them in 2 parts Online and handwritten. There were always problems with the online stuff that had to be thrown out. I would take her again.
The homework was managable then the in class test was impossible to prepare for. One test she was wouldn't give us a review and it was the worst scoring test for most of the class. The in class review was jeopardy to prepare for the online test. Homework does not prepare you for the tests and with out a good review, there is nothing to use to study
This says it all: Direct quote from her on the day of the final review: "My job is over for the semester. All I have to do is grade your finals. And since I'm not teaching this next semester I don't have to see your SORRY faces ever again." Then she laid down on the table and said she was going to sleep. Grow up lady.
She helped as much as she could. She is SOOO nice. But in this math class it's taught mostly by the computer program, but she is there if you need help.
I had failed this class 2 times previous to taking it with Judy. She was very helpful and explained things in a way I could understand. If you have had trouble in the past I would suggest taking Math with her.
This class is mostly taught out from online through a program. You do it on your own your own time. If needed help just ask Judy. She is a really helpful/understanding person.
She was great! She explained every problem as many times as it neded to be explained. Class time with her was wery intertainig with math games which helped me memorise formulas and FOIL and factoring. I am glad i took class with her!
Very helpful. Explains things clearly. Love her dog Dolly.
you have to do your math homewrk on excel if you don't how to use excel your out luck. Sometimes funny but mostly alittle weird. She doesn't explain things troughly. If you have a question you better ask it asap. Good Luck.
She is not a helpful teacher. She ignores students or sends them to her assistant who is always lost. Test are difficult and confuse and her grades are not matching with "Alex", She got the grade that she wants. This class was wasting time! I passed Placement test, easy and quick!
She really wants every student to succeed. Judy goes above and beyond. If you put in the time & study you can get an A. Its not easy, I mean come on it is math. Judy makes it fun and she is extremely smart & very willing to help!
She was hard to follow. Wasnt sure when assignments were due. When homework was passed back (there was always a lot to do for one homework d be knocked off for one assignment)serious points would be docked for missing one problem, or writing in pen, or for some reason not known. Tests were very difficult and averages were very low.
I have NEVER EVER had this ridiculous teacher in my life.I've done every work neatly, put so much effort, and explained how I got the answer but all she said was, what's this? I've taken Calculus and I'm quite confident in Math,I thought this was an easy A but trust me, this is not a joke. Expects way too much work from you
This teacher is ridiculous. All she said on my work was, what's this, No, and without ANY explanation. The course could be a lot easier but she's very picky that she just grades students' work by how she feels like.
She doesn't even teach. She just sits at her desk and the little tutors help. Plus she gives way too much homework. 4 assignments, two quizes, 80 question reviews, and a practice test.
She's awful. Sits at her desk the entire time and doesn;t teach and gives way too much homework.
Great teacher! She was willing to explain things when asked and was easy to follow.
Judy is awesome! She lays out all of her expectations in her syllabus at the beginning of the semester. Her due dates were a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's no problem. I wish I could take her for all of my math classes! TAKE HER CLASS!
She's a great teacher! Doesn't make you feel like an idiot and she can tell when your not understanding something and will try another approach to the problem! I would take her again for sure! Here's some tips for taking this class in the summer.(1) Do not work. This class is a full-time job and it does not mess around.
(2)before the class even starts get ahead in on the online homework..don't get behind it this teacher does not reopen homework for one person(3)hTake advantage of the help offererd in the math drop in cententer(p around 200$ cash. to the side in case you need to hire a private tutor(4)make friends fast in the first couple of days and swap numbers
OMG this manic causing class most definently WILL tempt you to want to drop yourself with a rope from Chaffe Hall half way through the semester but keep showing up to class and listen to the Voice of an Angel speak and watch her write the problems on the board and the class will begin to make more sense.. I think out of 20 students 9 passed. STUDY!
So helpful and her assistant, too. I liked her class so much and i am going to take math 108 with her. Don't forget that her dog Dolly makes the class more interesting
doesn't explain everything thoroughly, and isn't helpful even if it isn't your fault. passed the class just fine, just wish she would be more understanding/explain all aspects better.
She took four sick days which ended up not allowing time to review for the final. Wouldn't correspond through email to clarify things, but required me to make an appointment and buy her coffee if I had questions. Didn't go over problems on the board so we could put it all together, just gave a bulletpoint lecture and let us out 30 minutes early.
This was the best math class I've had in a long time, and I'd take the next class from her any day. She sometimes stumbles when it comes to teaching difficult concepts, but she gets us where we need to be. I feel like she grades very fairly, and I've never had an instructor who listens and responds to student concerns with such rapid sincerity.
Judy is great! She answered questions when I had them and made sure I understood what was going on. It isn't her fault that learning math with the Aleks software totally sucks. Would definitely take a math class from her again!
I would recommend taking Judy Wayne's class. I have heard bad things about other professors who teach this class. Judy let us work with other people for the last 10 minutes of each test. There were 3 projects which helped my grade. She offers a LOT of extra credit and attendance isn't mandatory. Simply do the work and study for the tests!
This was one of the worst instructors that I have had at BSU. Not helpful, missed class, did not even review for exams and expected you to buy her coffee for help. I would recommend you to take someone else for this class. She cannot even give you a clear answer on her grading process. Does not care about students learning the material.
She didn't help me when I had questions. The assignments in class are a waste of time. They had nothing to do with what we were doing on Aleks. By far one of the most frustrating teachers I have ever had. I highly recommend NOT taking her.
The class time is basically a babysitting class. It is just there for you to do more work online in ALEKS and for her or the aide to answer your questions, as long as you stay on top of your online work you can finish early and take the final early and be done. I finished almost a month and a half early and was an easy A, she is funny and laid back
I had her for Math 144 and when not doing Aleks we worked in groups which she made us do a worksheet every week. The sheets don't count for anything and are basically for attendance that day. She has yet to answer a question when I ask her. Even a yes or no question she replied with I don't know. Possibly the worst teacher I've ever had.
she isnt the slightest bit helpful and she thinks she is funny
I liked Judy quite a bit, she was there to help out, and enjoyed getting students to understand the material. The class structure revolving around the online program is pretty bad though, makes the professor feel more distant. This is standard for like all the low level math classes though. Get Judy if you can, but it won't really make a difference
Judy is very nice and is very enthusiastic about helping students pass the class even after class hours. The class involves learning from a online program (Aleks) so there isn't much teaching from the professor but is there to help you with any topic you are having trouble with. You have 3 tests involving paper/Aleks. Make sure to do your Homework
Judy is dope. Super helpful and friendly! She knows her stuff and presents it in a clear fashion.
This was the best I have ever done in a math class in my entire life. The whole class is done on the Aleks program (except for the one day a week that you do group work) Judy was always there to help along with her student tutor. The lab day is just another opportunity for you to get some Aleks done. Do what is recommended and you will get an A.
Judy is amazing. One thing to know about this specific class is that it is Aleks, so its basically all online, but going to class is still recommended just because Judy is so freaking fantastic. That's all:)
Judy spent the entire first class talking about her polyamorous relationship, and then proceed to talk about her sex life for the next 45 minutes of class. We had to scramble to download ALEKS in the last ten or so minutes. Not appropriate for class, very awkward. It was like she was an attention seeking teenager. Overall disappointed.
She literally has no idea how to put in grades correctly or how to properly communicate with a student, she will just blow you off and have you talk to someone else, bad instructor.
Judy is a character, in the worst way possible. I was never comfortable around her and her teaching style did not flow with my learning style at all. Mostly, I hate the Aleks program and will never use it again. I am an A student but barely managed to pass this class with a D, the lowest grade I have ever gotten in any class.
The structure of this class was awful; instead of actually being taught you are given worksheets and using Aleks to teach yourself. If attendance didn't affect your grade there would be no need to go to class. Furthermore, Judy was very condescending and never actually helped when you were struggling- her job could be done by a graduate student.
Can't stay on topic. Probably the worst teacher to have if its your first statistics class.
This course was a disaster, some of it was out of her control. But she didnt really teach, rely on the tutoring center; your peers; and yourself.
get ready to learn a lot on your own. shes a nice lady but a lot of the class is by yourself. make friends and study with them. zero access to the mini project guidelines and pay $53 for the online text book plus another amount for the inclass work book :(
Judy was a terrible professor I would not suggest taking this class. She marks points off for every little thing you do wrong even if it wasnt said in instructions. Gave me a D on project because it wasnt organized in the specific way she wanted even though the work was all there. Very hard grader and wont answer emails.
Had useless papers that would not be explained by the teacher, would take attendance and then would sit down the rest of the class. Only would get up for questions, and would never explain what was being worked on. Online homework every week and horrible grading criteria as if you missed one week of homework, topics would keep climbing. Drop now
Really really bad professor. Nice enough lady but really awful professor.
Completely useless. No need to go to class. The ALEKS online work is worth much more than anything else. Literally tells us grading and needs of students are not her top priority. No need to even have a teacher for this course
Judy is by far the worst professor I've had at Boise State. She assigns a ton of useless busywork that teaches nothing and avoids answering math questions when asked. I'm convinced she doesn't know how to do the math that we learned.
5 Hours of minimum self taught math homework on ALEKs. This doesn't include your topic goal of the week. Last week had a total of 10 hours of straight self taught homework. Ended class various times, changed classrooms various times and kicked kids out of the class because students didn't cover the bridge of their noses in class.
This is only my second week in Judy's class, and already I don't particularly appreciate how she teaches and how she addresses her students. I have never been talked to, by a professor, for over an hour, like I am a three-year-old. I'm 26 ma'am if your students cant handle being talked to like an adult then they shouldn't be in college.
What a giant waste of time. Please teach us the math or let us work on our homework. She makes you spend a lot of time proving we can communicate and can spell. This is not a captive audience. We are being held hostage here so she can talk about her cats
Get ready to teach yourself. Class time is wasted on useless assignments. Time goals must be hit no matter if you hit the assignment goal or not. Locks the worksheets until after the class when we go over them and the doesn't grade them for accuracy so it's unclear if it was done correctly. Steer clear.
I have never had a worse teacher than Mrs. Wayne. We spent all of class going over worksheets that were not even relevant to the tests we had to take. On top of that she is so useless when asking for help so good luck teaching yourself everything. if you have her as a teacher just drop the class.
Avoid her class at all costs. She grades very harshly and often made me feel stupid. She missed a lot of class time which left us clueless for exams. She talks to us like we are in elementary school and should not be teaching college classes.I'm sure she's a nice person but just not good at teaching college students & making us feel prepared/ welcome.
DO NOT take this class. It will save you lot of stress. Judy is seriously the worst teacher I have ever had. She doesn't teach at all and I feel like she has no idea what's going on. When u ask a question she will tell you to "just look at it." She also makes you teach yourself everything and then when the test comes everyone is lost.
There are a lot of bad reviews on here, but if you're able to teach yourself the math topics with Aleks or other sources, you'll pass. It's just a lot of time. She's really nice and if you need help you can ask her and she'll explain it to you.
not good at all. literally just dont even sign up for her.
She's alright. I've always struggled with math, so her not having office hours for us to go to has been a little bit difficult, since she just relies on you to go to to the math tutors. She requires a lot from you on ALEKS, but overall I think it is doable if you sit down and focus on it. Tests were pretty hard, but she tried to prepare us well.
She was a decent professor, but did not care at all for personal. I told her everything going on in my life in my life and how it was hard to handle about school and life. She straight up to me to stop trying and did not help me at all.
Do not, under any circumstances, ever, EVER take a course taught by this woman. I stopped wearing my seatbelt because I want dle before I make it to this class. She is incapable of leading a discussion unless it involves her cats.
NEVER and I mean never take this professor. I read the ratings and I thought she wouldn't be that bad but she's actually worse. She goes too fast on the activities, never finishes them and then expects us to do homework based on them, doesn't even explain it well, and is just an overall awful person. She won't help u, she'll send you to the tutors.
ABSOLUTLEY DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS OR THIS TEACHER!!!!!! i may have passed this class, but it caused so many other grades to go down. this is lower level math class, should not take all your time up. whenever i was struggling in this class and asked for help i was directed to the tutors. she would just sit there and not do anything instead of teachi
She will send you to math tutoring if you have any questions, does not teach in classroom and you are on ALEKS. You have to do good on tests otherwise you might not pass. You are on aleks 5 hours a week plus other homework. Not terrible but if you need help you basically have to go to tutoring because she will not help. She makes you feel dumb.
Not a lot of clear communication, no comments on why she graded the way she did. Could be an online class no need to go in. However the online was hard. ALEKs was what we used for online. It was very hard to understand and learn
Judy wasn't awful but she wasn't very helpful either. If you needed any help she sent you to the tutors. She didn't teach much but in a way she still wanted us to succeed. ALEKS was awful and had a big workload but you can still get ahead and take the early final which is what I did. Avoid Judy if you can, or just get ahead in her class and be done
Uses Aleks.
She is the most unhelpful Math Professor I have had, she doesn't respond to emails very timely, and when she does respond it's short and sounds like she doesn't want to help you. She answers no questions and just says to go to the MLC. She generally seems lazy despite this being an online course and her not needing to lecture the class at all.
Not helpful with navigating an online class at all. She assigned a 12 hours on ALEKS a week, along with worksheets that the videos don't make any sense to complete. Then makes you write it all by hand. Working full time that's just not feasible. Couldn't find a testing center in my state and she wasn't helpful so I just withdrew before the deadline
Would recommend not to take this professor. Hard on grading and doesn't know how to teach.
I was out with medical reasons for a lot of classes and she was not understanding or helpful at all, even with an email from the dean. Her class is doable but it was not great... and I love math so that is saying something. Overall would not recommend to someone who struggles with math
This instructor was incredibly unprofessional. She does not teach good and every time she talked to me, it sounded passive aggressive. I had to drop her class because I was not learning at all and did not see myself passing her class.
I wouldn't recommend Judy Wayne. She was always late to class, didn't answer emails (and if she did, you would expect to wait more than 24-48 hours for a response), and was rude to some of my classmates when they didn't understand something. Her class is doable, but don't take this class (or any other math class) with Judy Wayne.
Not helpful at all, very rude when I said I didn't understand how to turn in an assignment. Doesn't teach and only uses aleks. Don't take this.
Does not explain the math at all, she does the problems and does not explain the math. This class could of been taken online due to majority of the work being ALEKS.
I was scrolling pretty far through ratings n it seems like back in 2017 she was good but now she's rlly bad. Any upcoming freshman's I warn u don't take her. doesn't teach, 5 hours of ALEKS every week, but doesn't include your topic goal which can be a lot. Heavy grader n tester, doesn't give feedback. PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE & yaps but teaches nothing?
I do not know what to say about Judy; she is not bad, but not good. Be ready to do 5 hours of Aleks per week. She is not as bad as students say in the reviews, but most of the time, you have to teach yourself. The final was not bad, and it is worth 30% of your grade. She takes attendance every week, so you have to show up to class.
Judy Wayne was a nice professor. However whenever I would ask for help she wouldn't answer my question and would just tell me to go to the tutoring center. Her responses to the emails I sent her were very disrespectful. The class was pretty easy, just stay caught up on ALEKS. 5 hours of it a week and all class work is online based for the most part
