Professor West is so nice! Take her for GPSYCH160 bc she's so willing to help. Tests are not that hard if you read/study, but she adds 4-8 pts per test. Also gives extra credit!

Her teaching style is recall, and her tests (which are tricky!) are applied knowledge. She's a little loopy, but nice enough. I wouldn't say she is an excellent teacher. she does give extra credit though, only bc her test questions are not well phrased.

one of the best proffs at JMU. easy tests and easy papers. I spent about an hour studying for her tests and didnt start the paper until the day it was due(i got a 75/75 on it) and got an A for the class. she understands that you have a crap load of other stuff to do since you're a college student

Awesome Teacher. She is one of the best teachers JMU has to offer. She doesn't make you remember insignificant details. She cares about what you learn and the material in class. Tests are pretty easy but that only makes the class that much better. Definitely Take!

Class based on notes from her PowerPoints. she talks a little bit about each slide and adds little facts, movie clips, and extrabits to help you understand the chapter better. 4 non-cummulative tests and one 5+ page paper on any topic that intests you that relates to psycology. i liked her so much, i now plan to double major in psych.

She's my favorite professor! At the end of my back-to-back schedule, I love coming to this class! So relaxing and laid back. I learn so much just by attending class! She is hilarious! :) I would definitely recommend her!

she has an attendance policy but the way it works is if you go 15 times you get the 15 attendance points and if you go more than that its extra credit. you have one paper thats easy and her tests are all mc. class can be boring at times but she does her best to make it interesting. id take her again shes nice and theres little work involved

Professor West was a very friendly professor who was willing to help get you through the course. She gave extra credit for attendance and was fair in grading majority of the time. I would reccomend taking this class but it is hard to sit through in the evening, especially in the spring when everyone is out on the quad having fun.

She keeps the class extremely interesting with pictures and videos. Gives you all the notes and gives you outlines for each chapter. Basically lets you know how the tests are going to be and is extremely helpful. She does attendance by giving you 20 random chances so you can still miss a class or two.

West is a really good teacher. She always wants the class to participate and is good about putting little movie clips into the lectures to keep students focused. There are 4 quizzes (online) and 4 exams- 50 questions each. The exams aren't too bad but you have to read the chapters. I also got the study guide and found that really helpful.

I love Judy West! She played music before class started and makes great power points. Attendance was not mandatory, but I enjoyed going to class. Test questions are not hard and the web sight that goes with the text book really helps with studying.

Response to last commenter - if you do the outlines AHEAD OF TIME, she really doesn't go too fast. Also, I didn't find the tests that hard. Sure, they require actual application of knowledge, but isn't that the point of learning? Overall, I really liked this course. Content is always presented in a clear, interesting manner. What more can you ask?

Fairly easy class. Provides chapter outlines, which she bases her tests after. Gives online movie quizzes and a syllabus quiz. Doesn't take attendance, but mentions information in class that isn't in the book. Overall, if you attend class and actually put in time looking over the outlines, you'll get a good grade.

Easiest class I've ever taken, you don't even need to take notes to pass. Just read the textbook and go by that; honestly reading the bolded words in it is enough to pass. Power points are somewhat useful in class to follow along with. Tests are easy and so are the quizzes on the videos she assigns us to watch.

I think Prof West is a good teacher, she GENUINELY cares about her students, and whether they understand the material or not. Goes through about a chapter a week, and has daily quizzes that pretty straight forward, and the tests are not that hard, however you should study main concepts. I'd recommend her class!!

I loved Professor West. There were online quizzes for every chapter, completely on the book. Tests every 3 or 4 chapters. You can still pass the class and not actually go to class but she does cover some things in class that aren't in the book and puts them on tests. I took AP Psych in HS and she did and excellent job with the content.

She is definately a great teacher and good at explaining the material, but you HAVE to go to class because lot of test questions are from the ppts and she adds stuff that isn't in the textbook. She does not put the powerpoints on Blackboard either so you must go and take thorough notes. If you study those, you will get at least a B!

She's cute. But the approaches the lectures like she's teaching them to kids, and she's so anal about phone use - she will wander the large lecture hall tracking down students using their phones. Online quizzes every week (so easy to get 100% since theyre straight out of textbook). Tests every 3 chapters that are quite easy. Dont miss class!

Professor West always strives for improvement. She's eager to help everyone and is very clear. Everything she expects is laid out so there's never any ambiguity. There are weekly quizzes and book readings but it is all interesting material. West does her best to incorporate a lot of humor into the class and it was a lot of fun to take!

Judy is one of the best professors I've had at JMU thus far! She shows videos all the time to help reinforce topics and give us breaks during notes. She answers questions from any student, even with so many students in the class. Overall a great professor.

PLEASE GET JUDY WEST!! She is the best psychology professor I could have asked for. She gives you study guides- FILL THEM OUT! They can be annoying to do, but if you fill them out(along with lecture notes) you will do really well in her class. Just remember to study for the tests and you should do fine! When she says only know concepts she means it

I absolutely LOVED Judy West! She is the sweetest teacher and cares so much about her students! As long as you read the textbook and fill out the study guide she provides, you will do fine! She plays music before every class and always tries to get her students engaged. Such a sweet woman (:

Literally one of the best professors on campus. Im so lucky I chose her by accident. She is retiring so if you are taking this class for the Spring of 2014 take advantage of her last semester here!

The most adorable lady ever. Seriously one of the most sincere professors I've ever had and is just so nice. Take her if you can! You won't regret it. I've skipped this class SO much. It's a huge class so she doesn't take attendance, but it's SO easy. She gives you study guides that go along with the book and it's pretty self-explanatory. If you don't understand something, go to class. Ask a question. She's so helpful! EASY EASY A.

Prof West is so cute and really funny! Lectures fly by and she acts just like a teenager, funny jokes and all! She includes videos and explains all the topics very very well. If you have taken a psychology class, this is pretty much a review. Make sure you print out the reading guides and add to it during the lecture. Favorite class by far!

She definitely knows what she's talking about, and despite the class being at 9AM she's always really funny and full of energy. Attendance isn't taken and it's easy to get the notes if you miss them. Definitely take this class, she is great at explaining things.

Judy is the bomb dot com Seriously, she makes things so applicable. SHE IS A REAL PERSON! You will be able to relate to her and love her as a mother even in that 400 person lecture hall. She is a great teacher who actually wants you to learn. All quizzes online. Drops lowest quiz grade. Four tests in class. I would definitely recommend her.

I love Dr. West! This has been my favorite class at JMU. You will learn so much in one semester, and she presents it in an interesting way! There are four tests that you'll be fine on if you study. Judy West is an extremely positive representation of JMU. Happy retirement, Dr. West.

Loved coming to this class. It's interesting and she shows lots of videos. She drops your lowest quiz grade. The final is not cumulative. Study for the exams and you'll do fine.
