if you don't have to take this class, then don't. its practically econ 201 revisited and a waste of tuition money. exams are short (10-12 questions) and kinda easy. lectures are long and boring. 10-12pg paper due near end of semester. good luck on the paper bc he isn't clear as to what he expects.
Very nice. Has a slight accent which isn't much of a problem as he addressed it several times. We used the lab book but not the text book. Powerpoints online. Your grades are hw and exams. Exams have approx 25 questions and he curved the exams quite a bit. I'd give him a 4/5.
DO NOT take him. He goes way to fast and you can tell him to slow down as many times as you want but he doesn't. I tried to go to his office hours and he didn't slow down at all. His lectures are pointless because all your tests are on excel. He knows what he's talking about but CANNOT teach it. I am praying for a C in his class.
Prof Jurgen is one of the few professors that grades very fairly! And when I say fairly I really mean it. I wasn't the best student in class, but i was trying really hard to get the best grade I could so he gave me a B when i really should have probably failed the class. He is cool and always there to explain anything that you don't get in class!
He goes over the material really fast. Does something one time and expects you to know how to do it from then on. If you are not a fast learner this is not the teacher for you! Gives extra credit chips worth 1 point for correct answers. Attendance not mandatory. H/W due once a week online. 2 midterm and a final not accumulative. I'm trying for a C.
Most of the students in class n myself were confused by him. Goes very fast, has this attitude that everyone should just instantly understand what he teaches and if u dont its because then ur dumb. Graded HW lengthy word problems when problems in class r not. Bases tests off HW but doesnt give u HW back prior test so u cant c what ur doing wrong
Good Luck
NO. NO. NO. he does not like to explain things more than once and got annoyed when we asked him too. his homework and book are both on applia and it always took foreverrr. and this class overall made me miserable. im a straight a student but i failed his final. oh an his quizzes you get like 10 minutes to take them. good luck.
Stay away if you want to pass
He's really not that hard, since he curves the living daylights out of his class. I ended up with an A, and I'm pretty sure I only had a final score of about 70-75 percent. He has terrible handwriting and a mild accent, but you'll get used to it.
Stat is a hard class, failed it the first time,JJ breaks everything down into steps for you, he is approachable, and his accent is not hard to understand at all, he curves the final grade and goes over material much slower and in detail then J.Manley, I recommend taking him, stat is gonna be hard no matter what but I think hes your best option
his homework on applia is the most frustrating and annoying thing ever. he gives you 15 minutes to take his quizes, but, he does go over the material pretty much right beofre the quiz. his exams are really tough. he's a real cool guy but tends to go really fast through material. he curves the HELL out of your grade. i had an F,and ended up with a C
Honestly, if you really want to take him, you have to be certain that you're going to work extremely HARD for this class. I had no social life during second semester because of this class. I strongly advise you not take him if you're the kind of student who doesn't do well on tests (like me). He's very helpful; however, he teaches way too fast and
goodluck cause you're gonna need it.
Jung is awesome! He's a laid back guy it shows in his ways of teaching. Uses excel a LOT, but he shows every step. Allows "cheat sheets" for tests. Quizzes and hw every week, but it's actually more helpful than annoying. He is helpful with questions, and made stats relatively interesting. I'd take him again
Nice guy. Knows his stuff, but sometimes doesn't think he needs to expain things to the class, but if you ask he is pretty clear. Available 2 help. Don't need 2 buy the book. Tests based on homework. Make sure u know macro and micro - it's the basis for the class. 3 tests, 3 article summaries. Presentation of 1 article that summarized.
For an intro course, I found this class to be hard. Prof goes fast and is not very understanding.
Jung is a great professor. My first semester at Towson, and he was he best teacher so far! This class is challenging and you will need to put in a LOT of work. But please go to him during office hours and take initiative. He will remember you and will help you out. Amazing professor!!
Very hard for an introduction class. Always moving through the material fast and assumes that everyone understands what is going on.
Great professor. Goes a little fast sometimes, but just let him know and he'll slow down and explain things clearly. You can do the hw as many times as it takes to get a 100%. He has 10 quizzes that are 4 questions that you can use a formula sheet for.
Great teacher, the material gets pretty hard to understand but if you ask him to go back over something he'll make sure you know what you're doing when your done. Tests are pretty rough but study the quizzes and you should be fine. I'd suggest taking the class with a friend, makes it easier to study.
Jung is a good professor. This course will be difficult no matter what professor you take. He answers every question and if you take initiative and go to his office hours, he is very helpful. I went to his office hours very often and he made it a lot easier for me.
This class is difficult and challenging, but he is a good professor overall. Good extra credit opportunities and I never opened the textbook once. Can repeat hw until you get it right, the only hard part is the quizzes and tests. Not the end of the world.
Took him for stats and loved him. Stats is hard regardless of who you take but JJ is really willing to help if you need it. Homeworks each week are redoable, about 8 quizzes which are pretty tough, 2 midterms and a final. Study and you'll be okay.
This professor's exams are ridiculous. Probably 10% of the questions are on something we never discussed once, and the problems we have done examples of, he makes some small twist that is not obvious but changes the entire answer. I went into this class with a 3.5 GPA, but cannot get over a 75% on these exams. The exams are unreasonable.
Great professor, hard course! he moves fast but his teaching skills are A1. homework every monday but you can do them as many times as you like (he takes the highest grades. 8 quizzes, 2 midterms and 1 final. his quizzes and exams are hard but that's stat in general. STUDY STUDY STUDY if you want to pass his class!
Hard to understand with accent at times, can be bit misleading in class lectures. Thought we would actually do more policy work and thought to Health economics problems but mainly focus on basic micro and macro. Tests aren't bad but study your basic economics.
Juergen is the man! Stats is not that hard people. Go to class, and PAY ATTENTION. Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you miss a class you will have a hard time teaching yourself. Juergen gives you everything you need to know, you just put it together. Not only does he give you extra credit for participating every class, he curves your grade.
He is an awesome professor! One of the best professors I've had in my 3 yrs at Towson. He breaks down the concepts in his lectures which made statistics seem easy. Also the tests correlate with his lectures. Overall, if you take good notes and are attentive during the lectures you'll pass. FYI you don't need to buy the text book
This is a 400 level econ class so you need to do a lot of work. It is worth it though, he knows what he is doing. Homeworks are difficult but work with others and ask him questions. You do not need a programming background as long as you put in the work.
Sarcastic, arrogant and rushes through lectures. Provides no connections between what you do in class with HW. Horrible office hours. Seems to forget that he's there to help us succeed or generally not care.
Juergen is great! Extra-credit for answering questions in class. Do not need the textbook because he explains everything easily. If you do want the textbook, I found it online for 7 cents. PAY ATTENTION; review and study or you will forget what you learned in class. Homework due on Mondays, 2 tests, gives formula sheet during quizzes & tests.
Legit if you have the chance to leave, DO IT! Tests are close to impossible and if you fail a test there's a small window for success after that. Arrogant and overall just an aweful teacher. I get good grades but not this class. It's very hard to get the grade you want. Lectures are very confusing and wau too fast. Leave this guy if you can.
By far one of the best teachers I had. I took STATS at a community college and failed there. I took it with him and passed with an A-. Really an A- it's crazy right? I know . Overall grade was 78.66 but somehow I got to an A-. I am really happy that I took it with him. DON'T SKIP CLASS, It will screw you over. Take great notes!!!!!
He is very clear and easy to understand. He is a good teacher and he knows what he is talking about. 3 test - 2 midterms and 1 final, all multiple choice. Homework due every week but it's not too hard. Doesn't take attendance and doesn't give pop quizzes. definitely recommend
Had to drop the class because it was literally so hard. He rushes through the material so fast, doesn't give you practice problems, and then gives you problem sets for homework that you have no idea how to do. If you want to try and understand the material, go to his office hours.
VERY DIFFICULT Goes WAY to fast and there are questions in Exams I don't remember learning. Knows what he is talking about but not very good at teaching it. I hope I can pull a D or C out of this class.
Lectures aren't amazing but aren't bad enough to fall asleep. Homework assignments take a few hours a week and are extremely difficult IF you don't read the chapters in the textbook. Otherwise, they aren't too bad. Tests are slightly difficult, but he did curve the final grades a little bit, maybe by half a letter grade.
Very boring letcure unless you actually keep up with his work. You have Iclicker questions which are from the notes before, two midterms and a final, and homework every week which is reading from the textbook. The class was very hard for me to grasp and once I got lost, there was no going back. Studied for hours and still didn't get higher than a D
He is great at explaining how to do things.
Professor Jung is amazing at making you feel stupid. I come into this class to learn and I'm just constantly reminded of how stupid I am. He will go over half a chapter in class and then expect us to do a problem set on it. He will also say to study the problem sets for the exams even though they're useless. Overall, he's just dandy.
Class can be very difficult if you don't have a good grasp on macroeconomics or math. He is an okay professor, really does want you to learn but you have to put in work and understand the material. Homeworks aren't too bad, form a group the first day of class in order to share answers and study! Pay attention to lectures because those are essential
Great teacher and is really good at explaining concepts. He can sometimes move fast but will stop if anyone has a question. He runs a hybrid format class so we only met twice a week instead of thrice, but there was an assignment due in place of class. Weekly hw, 2 exams and final. Explains exactly what will be on exams and drops 5 lowest hws.
Stay away from this guy. Unless you enjoy going through 70+ slides a class and doing homework that reflects nothing of what the tests are like then this class is for you. He is definitely an intelligent professor but because of this, he assumes all his students know exactly what he is talking about. Overall horrible professor.
I took professor Jung online for ECON 202 over the minimester and it wasn't bad at all. It was definitely a fast paced because it's minimester but it's not something you can't keep up with. He drops the lowest three homework assignments b/c he understands late assignments, computer glitches, or any other health issues. Stay on top you'll succeed.
This professor is the worst professor at Towson University. He doesnt explain concepts well. I should have taken the course with Matt Chambers I heard he was the best professor for Econ 310. Plus all you need is a 64 to get a C in his class. Those are my type of professors.
Professor Juergen doesnt believe in helping his students. When you go to his office hours its pointless because he doesnt explain the material well. All of my friends are failing this course. Avoid at all costs !! Do your self a favor in take this course at another college if you cant get another professor.
310 isn't that difficult of a class, but his teaching style just makes it hard to understand. Attendance is not mandatory but he doesn't post lectures online. Honestly, I skipped almost every class because I felt it'd be easier to teach myself than material than to listen to him for an hour and fifteen minutes.
This is a calculus based course with lots of math hw and the guy just straight up does not teach math at all which makes doing the hw a pain. Wait till you can get into chambers class
Took him for macroeconomic theory. By far the hardest class I've taken in college. Weekly HW/reading assignments, with 2 exams and one final. If you are willing to put in the work, you can pass this class. I have never put more work into a class in my life. Put in extra work, met with him every week. He is willing to help you.
It genuinely seems like this man hates his job. He expects you to simply "get" python coding from day 1. If you don't understand it, his response is "oh well, buy another text book and figure it out on your own". Over half the class got lower than a 50% on the first exam and he blamed us. He compounds the difficulties of this class by his character
Doesn't go over any examples in class and expects you to know how to do it on the exam. Doesn't tell you what will be on the exam and that everything we learned since day one is "fair game". He refuses to use actual numbers when showing us a new formula/equation example. "I give you the map and you go on the hike" he says. He does the bare minimum
One of the worst profs I have ever had. No strict meeting time but I never saw or heard this man's voice. He was MIA all semester, took forever to respond to emails, and homeworks were difficult for no reason. Exams were ugly for the whole class and he does not curve. We complained multiple times so hopefully he will not be teaching this again.
Everyone that took this professor during the COVID-19 pandemic should be given a free pass. Towson needs to review his lectures provided in allocation with how this guy chose to model the class.. Also something funny to note, he has changed the name of his study guide exam files from 2019 to fall 2020 post course evaluations. Shame on you.
Don't take this professor.
dude was never around and was mia literally the entire semester. asked for help and all he did was refer me to some stupid examples.
Many of the topics we discussed felt very rushed. There were around 2 online hw assignments each week that were super easy but the exams were tough if you don't understand the topics enough. He knows what he's talking about but it's to the point where he can't convey it to the class in a way that makes sense to someone who knows nothing about econ.
Professor Jung is very reasonable and helpful as long as you put the effort in and will meet with you outside of class. I received a job offer as a Business Intelligence Analyst on June 3rd, not even a week after graduating, because of this class. In the interviews, they asked me to present my 431 project and they liked what I had to show them.
I feel like professor Jung could be a better professor if he worked on his lectures. We never get through enough content and I felt like he would repeat the same info over and over again. Homework answers are pretty much all online and exams aren't too hard. I barely studied for my second midterm and got a B.
Jung is a great dude. hes also super funny. the material is just crazy hard but thats not his fault. he tries to make sure everyone understands
He's very understanding when grading and allows for two attempts on every assignment except for midterms. Macro is a hard class, however, if you put the effort in you'll receive a passing grade. Attendance is mandatory!
I have mixed feelings on prof Jung. On one hand, he offers plenty of extra credit and genuinely seems to care about his students and the class he teaches. On the other, his lectures are boring and he kind of is just talking about economics. I feel like he would be a much better teacher if he asked test-related questions during his lectures.
Great Professor, but you must put in the time to understand the concepts. He can tend to go through the coursework a little fast, but if you pay attention and make an effort you will be fine.
I enjoyed this professor a lot; I thought he offered a pleasant course and would definitely recommend. There was a little confusion in his knowledge of the syllabus but that's something an individual can fix on their own time.
I liked Professor Jung. He has weekly homeworks that take about an hour and a half to complete on average, and make up a significant part of your grade, along with hybrid reading assignments. I think he could be clearer when answering questions from students, but otherwise, I thought his class was informative and easy if you put in the time.
Econ310 is difficult, a lot of math, and logical concept. If you must take this class, I suggest take some math class, meet with Prof. Jung in his office hour, I swear he going to do whatever he can to help you. Put some efforts, don't miss class, and ask him questions even if you find it silly. He doesn't judge and he would be happy to answer it.
Jung is great and funny guy. The material is difficult but that's not his fault and he really wants you to learn. Ask questions in class and go to his office hours. He will do whatever he can to help you, seriously. This is not a class you want to fool around in though. Show up, take notes, and ask questions.
Prof. Jung is.a good professor but his test are very hard. He does offer extra credit throughout the semester, I recommend doing every single one because I barely passed the class, because he gave the class a curve that bumped me two letters.
The worst econ 310 teacher there is.Goes extremely fast and does explain the material at all. Zooms thru the math and teaches as if the whole class has an doctarates in econ like he does. Had to end up dropping the class and taking the same class with a different professor, and now i understand the material and doing great. DO NOT TAKE JUNG for 310
Jung is the GOAT. Take HIM class. 310 is hard but that's not because of him, material is just crazy. He'll work with you. TAKE HIM!!!!!! You will 100% pass
Good professor, make sure to do book readings. Textbook readings don't matter as much as long as you study the slides and use all attempts on homework assignments. Make sure to study for exams because they're difficult.
I can't wrap my head around why Juergen has low reviews. This man will do everything to make sure you do well in this class. The class itself is hard, maybe one of the hardest in the program, but Juergen does SUCH a good job at teaching this class and is always willing to help out and review questions. Take him!
Dr. Jung is an outstanding professor, is an economic genius, and is a genuinely good person who cares about educating his students, and puts in his very best effort to do so in the short time provided. He does a great job explaining the complexities of 202, and gives you A LOT of help. All the negative reviews are likely from negligent children.
This class was tough! Prof.Jung lectures are very boring and he does not make them interesting. I recommend doing all of the extra credit because you will need it! The exams were extremely tough but he was very generous and often boosted grades to help the average. Take notes during lecture and read the textbook as well. I was enough lucky to pass!
Professor Jung's class is one of the most challenging classes I've taken. He does a great job explaining the content. The class is textbook and lecture-heavy; make sure to come to class and constantly review the lectures outside of the class. We're given, at maximum 2, blackboard assignments each week and three total exams throughout the semester.
While the content of the course is challenging, Professor Juergen Jung makes it entertaining by making jokes related to the applications being taught! The class is lecture-heavy but for good reason as it really prepares you for what will be on the exams!
I thought that the work in his class was very manageable. As long as you stay on pace with the textbook readings you will understand what is going on. Additionally homework accounts for a significant portion of your grade so you can balance out a poor exam score easily. He also gives nice extra credit. However, his lectures can be a bit boring.
Hated this class, so boring. 2 weekly assignments 2 midterms and a final. it's hard to understand how he teaches, he's sort of just talking about econ. I did well using just my own logic. hw is easy but just study the study guides before tests. or better yet, pick a different professor
Very nice professor who is very passionate about the topic. He seems to teach as if we all love and know econ as much as him so I mostly had to teach myself the topics. Weekly homework and in class mini quizzes which is all graded so it's important to come to class. 3 exams with ALOT of questions. He does curve tests and offer extra credit though.
He is an awesome professor. The material was difficult but he explains clearly so you can understand. If you still have problems he is willing to work with you. He wants you to succeed. If he taught every econ class, I would 100% take him.
A very informative professor, the class is just extremely hard. His exam's are long, but he curved our grade for each exam and the final. There is a lot of homework and they are also long but doable. He curved the exam grades which relieved some of the burden but this class requires a lot of studying.
Although this course was challenging, Professor Jung did a great job going in-depth with each topic during lectures, providing many examples. I could tell he cared through the time and effort he put into helping those struggling. Every week, there was homework, and before exams, he would post 2 practice exams. He truly wants everyone to pass.
Econ 202 is hard, and he knows that. There were two midterms and one final exam, all multiple choice, in a person scantron. Homeworks were easy and just free points to your grade, while also giving you the chance to study the homework before an exam. Overall, great professor!
He's a nice professor who simply has a lot of homework. His exams are based on lecture slides, and he provides study guides & practice exams. He's always available for office hours. Would recommend.
He uses an online textbook for hybrid days and other than that you don't have to read too much. His lectures will go from the start to the very end every time and he uses all of his time if not more. However I will say he explains everything very clearly in his lectures and you do not need to show up. Also make sure to do assignments on time.
It was cool
Take! The professor is a kind guy but the lectures are just so boring but yet again that's what macro is. Each lecture is mandatory but going to each one by doing the mandatory slidos helps your grade out. There are a good amount of assignments but I actually am glad because professors with few assignments could drop your grade so fast.
He's very chill and also a really funny guy. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He curves the grades too, which definitely helps as long as you put in the effort. If you study and keep up with the work, you'll be fine in his class. Overall, a great professor and the class is way less stressful than others.
He cares a lot about what he teaches. You can get off track in a large lecture, but he helps keep you on track with in-class quizzes. He takes questions and is willing to help anyone. If you can stay focused, I highly recommend this teacher.
Professor Jung is a smart guy and good professor for 310. Econ 310 is a hard class that moves at a fast pace, he does his best to space out the class. Exams aren't too challenging because he gives us comprehensive study guides that help. If you don't study and don't come to class you won't pass.
In my opinion, the professor always maintained a very organized approach; his way of explaining and the way the assignments were structured were very logical. I would like any student entering this course to know that they should have the ability to analyze logistics and graphs; but nothing too difficult that can't be achieved.
Its easy to fall behind if you dont pay attention, but he is great and explains everything thoroughly
