She is a great proff. You have to study and pay attention. She is very clear and cares about her students.
At first I thought I would be able to get a's on the tests by just paying attention In class but that is not the case you have to pay attention in class take notes and then learn the module when you get home if you do that you will get an A. There is extra credit & the final is optional. I ended up with an A.
you need to study for this class. she makes it easy but you have to attend and pay attention. she is a great teacher she gives you extra credits and the final (optional) replaces your lowest grade.
She is very organized and goes over every single detail you will need for the tests. Tests are 105 points + 10 extra points for doing the hw. That's 30 extra points (4 tests+homework)! I got over 100% for my grade. The final is optional. This class is A LOT of material and memorization. Many people failed, but that's just because they didn't study.
This professor is really good. She is always available in her office hours and is very sweet and helpful. I'm taking this class right now. You have to study -please this is science-. She is very clear explaining everything. Helpful. She is the best!
Class is extremely hard! Her accent was difficult to understand. Tried to go to tutor but no help. Sleep with your book if you want to pass.
Excellent Teacher, Very Helpful, Really Wants you to understand the material
She's the most understanding teacher I've ever had! Extremely nice & helpful! She wants you to succeed in her class, but you must do your work and pay attention! I only had her for CHM1033L Summer A, wish I had her for the lecture too! Buy the book as soon as possible & get ready to work! She grades fairly & explains clearly, sometimes a bit fast!
Took her for LAB. Annoying voice...but pretty easy. You have hw and assignments in the textbook.
she is veryy sweet however NOT clear...I am seriously confused when ppl say she is. I received As in all the other classes including chm lab and anatomy..she was the only B..I was veryyy dedicated.
She is a wonderful professor! I have never taken a chem class before and it is a hard subject and you have to study but she makes it easier to understand she is willing to help you. You can't be handed an a so study but take her classes!
She is a great teacher, but she is a little hard to understand. She does a great job of explaining the material and gives a lot of examples. You can't get away with just paying attention in class, you HAVE to study. If you take her lecture, be sure to take her lab as well! She is also very willing to help you whenever you need it! She is great!!
she is a bad professor, she does have a heavy accent and her voice is annoying. she goes through lecture very fast, and doesnt really help. she will offend you sometimes. i would only take her if you have NO OTHER OPTION. GOOD LUCK :)
This class is EXTREMELY hard, no matter what professor you have. Every test is 108 points, so you can miss 4 questions and still get an A. There's also 10 points extra for PLTL. She explains everything thoroughly but you need to study on your own. She's always there to help during office hours or after class. She's very fair and I really liked her.
very hard i study a week for the fourth test and got a 32% test are hard and the 10 extra points just go into the overall grade very hard. I would not take her
Super easy. Does the experiments for you and you just write down the info. She tells you what will be on the test. Easy assignments from book due every week. Take her for an easy A.
this class is hard. her tests are hard. make sure you study alot. she tells you whats going to be on test. just study ALOT
very good teacher. she is always there to help you, her tests are not hard, but you have to study a lot for them. she is always available on her office hours and she will do her best to help you. i got an A. take her
Class grade consists of 4 test. Test 1 & 3 are on 4 chapters each. Test 2 & 4 on 8 chapters each. Teacher is available for extra help. Found tests hard, some material was not emphasized in class but appeared in test. Extra credit was available. Too much material in a short time to cover. Lots of memorizing. Does not go over test or give study guide
this class is not easy. i studied hard and i got an A. i learnt alot from this class.
She is the best professor ever!!! She is sweet and explain very clear!! Take her !! She knows what she is teaching I took her and got an A If you are not good at chemistry take her she will help you !!!
Prof Diaz is the best teacher ever. I was very bad in chemistry in high school and that's the first time i understand and getting great grade (A plus). She explains to your level. Take her...she's amazing. The only thing that i didn't like is because she's doing midterm exam. Too much chapters to cover.
Teacher is somewhat fast paced, she explains things well, her test's are kind of hard. A lot of studying is required to take her test and pass with an A. Her accent is a little hard to bare, for me personally. Other than that she is a good teacher, glad I had her for chm1033. I got an A
Her tests are impossible. Even when you study you still get a low grade. She's difficult to understand and goes way to fast with the material.
Really nice professor and good teacher. The class is hard, but 1046 is a hard class in general. Even with paying attention in class, you NEED to study on your own from the module book, and understand EVERY question in a given module. She gives extra credit on every test though as someone mentioned in an earlier review. Not a bad class overall.
This is a hard class, but she is pretty good at explaining. I got a B studying a lot, it was not easy but she helps you out. And she gives extra credit.
There are only two professors at MDC Kendall campus that should be allowed to teach this course. Diaz-Consul is one of them. She makes everything easy to understand, gives extra credit, and is always available to help. (Btw, the other professor is Pappas.)
Teacher is ridiculous, expects everyone to be at an advanced level and takes no time to review anything. Goes over 2-3 modules per lecture. Expectations are unreasonable. Worst professor at MDC
Chemistry is never an easy subject but she's the best 1033 professor at Dade you can take. The content isn't easy so you have to study. Take her for lab as well if you can. The final was optional.
I will start off by saying she is not a bad professor. she teaches the material fairly well but the Test are extremely hard. i studied the most i have ever studied to pass her class and im not into chemistry at all so it was alot of work for me. i passed with a C but it was the hardest working C i have ever earned.
Your grade is based on your tests. Final optional. Material is ridiculously hard but no mandatory HW which allows you to concentrate on areas of need. 25 questions on exams with 2 extra credit questions that will count if you get a 100. Final very easy too. Read the chapters and do the module questions as much as possible.
Goes way too quickly with the material. I studied a lot and ended with a C. The tests are ridiculously hard to pass. The final was the only reasonable test.
Best chemistry professor ever!! Quick, clear, concise, and very helpful.
Excellent professor! She explains the material clearly. I love chemistry, so I barely study for her tests and get an A+. However, if you don't like this subject, you're gonna have to study, but it's not impossible to finish with an A. It's all about practicing and doing the homework. She's nice and friendly. I highly recommend her.
After taking Chemistry with three different teachers at Miami dade I must say that Julia is the best. She follows the book precisely so following along with the class is simple. Overall the class isn't easy and you have to study A LOT to get an A but its doable. She puts extra credit questions on the test which make it easier to get an A. Take her
She's fast paced, but does not put anything in the exam that hasn't covered in class. You just need to study and you will be fine. Take her
All i used the book for was to do the module assignments to study (which help A LOT) she goes by the book and for the 10 extra credit points. She's very clear and nice. The tests are easy if you actually understand and study the material. She tells you what's important to know.
Wonderful professor! Chemistry is a hard subject but she taught it so we'll it was easy for me. She talk too quickly sometimes but it is not hard to understand. She gives you extra credit opportunities and the final is optional. Definitely recommend taking her!
She is helpful, nice, and know what she is doing. chm might be confusing at the beginning. but just study hard. TIPS! always study ahead of time. DO THE HOMEWORK! start to prep for the test at least a week before. trust me your work will pay off during test :) take her if you want to success in 1046
aawesome professor could have done better but things got a little tight at home and basically my studying time was always jeoperdized but she is amazing willing to help you pass so many extra credit to fail means that you either have no interest or youre not trying good luck
Over all good professor, chemistry is a hard subject but she does her best to help you understand. She cares about her students. she gives you resources to help you study. Assignments are extra credit on the tests. Test are kinda confusing, she has a lot of useless facts on there so make sure to study. If she offers PLTL, TAKE IT, helps A LOT.
Great Professor! Very polite as well, which from my experience it's rarely the case. Chm1046 was a fairly easy course despite the failure rate being high. My only complaint, which has nothing to do with the prof was the textbook. it was a complete waste of $170. Most of the explanations were vague at best. Google was my best friend!
She is a nice lady but with a strong accent. Her tests are kind of hard and studying didn't really help. She does give extra credit and take GOOD notes. She does speak fast so write fast. 50/50 on picking her for chemistry.
Very nice lady, but if you have not taken a chemistry class before don't take her. A lot of people who had never taken a chemistry class were lost. You do have to study whether you have taken chemistry before or not. Not an easy A
Great professor. She may be seen intimidating, but in reality, I think she's really sweet and kind. She has great knowledge and knows how to teach. If you want an A, you'll have to study. Her tests are moderately hard, as any tests from CHM1046. I highly recommend her!
great teacher. has accent. writes fast.helpful in office hours.recommend goin to class she gives hints on what u shud kno for exam. sometimes adds material that is not in the book. this is a class u need to study for.only 15 possible extra credit points 10 for assignments n 5 for going to tutoring.4 exams n final optional.don't use phones in class.
Be careful taking her. She can explain the material well but she has a very strong accent. The exams are very difficult and there is online homework involved which is difficult too. It is very time consuming. You need a lot of time for this class. She offers plenty of extra credit within the homework and PLTL. No curved grades for exams either.
A lot of these reviews say she provides extra credit however she doesn't. 4 tests, 5th is optional. Some material is not in book. Your better off signing into class and leaving because the book is your only way to pass this course!
Hands down, probably the best Chemistry teacher at MDC. The class is very challenging and if you don't take it seriously, you will definitely fail. Half the class dropped after the 2nd Test. However, those are just the idiots who didn't study. She gives tons of extra credit through PLTL and online homework. I recommend.
she does provide extra cred! on the tests! she gives extra questions on the test so if you get them all right then you could receive like120. she also give it for PLTL but there was no funding this term. not her fault. T1 is replaced w/ T2 and T3 is replaced w/ T4. Final replaces any! what more do you want.. Its still a chm class!
This class is by no means easy. Her test are mostly fair but can be very tricky and confusing at times. She did give extra credit for PLTL and HW. Lots of math Calculations... more then I care for. she explains material decently but its important that you go home and review your notes immediately and do practice problems and try to understand.
She is just awesome. This is not an easy class, so if you want to do well, you HAVE to study hard but she is always available at her office hours )and very helpful I might add)Shes is also a veryyy kind and sweet lady. One of the best chemistry professors Ive had.
She is great! Explains everything very well and if you have any extra questions you can always go see her during her office hours. Her tests are moderately hard, but you can always do good if your study. It is an interesting class, and many times she explains the chemistry behind real world situations which is pretty cool. Definitively take her (:
Good professor, I recommend her.
Great Professor!!!!! I loved the way she taught explained everything very well and she wants to help you out. I would definitely take her again. The test were very straight to the point she didn't try to trick you. Awesome
Very good professor, very clear and helpful. Tests aren't difficult, but it's chemistry, so you'll have to put some work in. Also gives a decent amount of extra credit and grades homework to help the grade.
I took her class after reading these reviews, thinking she was great... She goes too fast, and very disorganized. Would I take her again? Nope!. I had better professors at FIU.
Amazing professor, she's a sweetheart and really cares about her students. You DO have to study for the tests which are a little hard but she knows what she's doing and she is very helpful.
Professor Diaz-Consul is clear and concise. If you go to all of her lectures, take good notes, and study hard you will pass. She is a great professor and professional that knows her material and cares for the students that care. She will not give away free A's. 4 Test- 100 pts each + Optional Final HW- 45 total pts Extra Credit- About 50 pts
She is a great teacher and makes a fairly difficult subject pretty easy to understand. If you go to class and pay attention you will do fine, but I wouldn't attempt to teach this stuff to yourself out of the book. The material gets harder as the semester goes on. The tests get pretty tough too. She tries her best to help students.
If you are looking for an easy A than this is not the class for you. This class was TOUGH. She's a great professor. Lectures cover everything and she explains things very well. As long as you show up, take notes, do the work, and dedicate time- you will pass. Honestly, if you can't pass this class you will never make it through nursing school.
Doctor Diaz is a wonderful professor her material is tough but that's any stat class . Book is useful I used last years addition most important is the Pearson math code. Review the homework, work questions, and pearson work problems. Go to her office hours and ask questions don't be afraid. Drops lowest grade, 4 exams optional final, no midterm.
honestly no one take her! she gives no review for her tests , if you try and ask questions about tests or chemistry in general she gets upset and doesn't even answer. to top that off, her extra credit barely counts, i did all of mine and she only gave me 12 points. this class is definitely not an easy A or B . so sad i took her!
Well 75% of the class failed so, idk! HW is mandatory!
Amazing professor I passed with a Low C and I studied really hard but chem is hard, would take again!
Professor Diaz is Amazing my favorite plus, she cares about her students simply amazing!
Omg this class was super hard, but I managed to get a B, professor Diaz is amazing, she gives lots of feedback on exams, and attendance is mandatory
She gives very good lectures and tells you what will be on the test, she doesn't give you a review guide, but she gives time in class to ask any questions that you have. She's always available in her office hours and will sit with you until you understand the material clearly. Not an easy A, but definitely possible, if you work for it.
She's the best chem professor at MDC. Her lectures are amazing and if you don't understand something you can always go to her office where she's is always willing to explain anything you did not understand. However, this is chemistry, it is hard and if you expect it to be an easy A you'll be disappointed. I'm gonna miss her class so much !!!!!!!!!!
Her tests are extremely hard 30-35 questions in 50 mts, she goes way too fast. If you want to past her class with a decent grade u must have to able to spend hrs of hrs in the chem tutoring lab, be able to teach urself and be able to find time to complete the online homework, otherwise you wont past. If you work full-time I wouldn't recommend her
I took her for CHM1033L and I loved her. I wish I had taken her for the lecture too. She is so nice and very clear. The lab was fun and she always clarifies anything you might not have understood in your lecture. Tests are completely fill in the blank but if you study hard it's completely possible to get an A.
Don't take her unless you have taken a chemistry class before. She is incredibly tough and went too fast for me. I never took a chemistry class before her and I regret it. She is a nice lady but her teaching method is not for everyone. Her homework and extra credit work were very time consuming. To pass her class you must put a lot of study into it
Professor Diaz is the best! Chemistry is hard no matter what, but her lectures are straight forward and her homework is super helpful. Tests are exactly like hw and multiple choice. Shes always there for help in office hours, and will go over any mistakes question by question. I loved her.
do not take her she teaches wayyy to fast and expects you to know everything the exams are pretty tricky and she gives no reviews there is online hw which are extremely long and the software is confusig af if you dont have a life and dont like to go out take her basically you have to teach yourself thats the only way ive been doing it
Her test are really hard you have 50 min to complete a 30-35 test. You have 4 test in the semester and the homework and extra credit are VERRYYY time consuming and the software sucks. She expects that you study 247. If you have a job or something that you have to do DONT TAKE HER!!!!
This class was very brutal. Its like taking 3 classes in 1. I had never memories so many equations. VERY VERY time consuming. You have to do the homework online and there's extra credit homework. If you study for this class a week before the test, you're too late. Study every time you get new notes. This course is a lot of information. Good luck!
when I took this course it was my only course scheduled for me since I needed only 4 more credits for my AA. I spent everyday in the tutoring lab. The class is difficult. She talks too much about one thing and that loses me. I stopped attending her class after the second test. I just read and did the homework. She does a lot of theory on the test.
DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS IF YOU DONT PLAN TO READ. Chemistry is tough I had the hardest time in this in this class in beginning because my study habits were all out of wack. Julia forced me to actually work for my grade. Do all your online homework, form a study group, use the lab and take advantage of julia office hours. Goodluck guys you'll need it
This professor is a rambler. She'll go off into a completely different topic leaving you and your notes confused. If you can't pass this class its not because you shouldn't be a nurse, its because your teacher is a space cadet. She's really nice and you can tell she knows the material but I would never take her again.
Her exams were tough. I would spend most of my days studying for her exams. I have never taken a chemistry class before and boy was it hard for me... I ended up dropping the class because she went too fast. She is a good teacher but I don't recommend her if you have never taken chemistry before. Her exams are mad hard.
Her tests are extremely hard. I ended up dropping her since I failed her first two tests and I would be in the lab for long hours. However, she does offer extra credit, homework and offers few points for PLTL. I passed CHM1045 with a B last semester but it doesn't compare to this class. On her first test about 85% of the class failed.
I took her about 2 years ago, and looking back I still don't know why she made the class so hard. This is the only Chem class I ever failed, and it wasn't the chem, is was her. (Got straight A's in Orgo) I retook with Pedro Garcia and boy it was a breeze! Take him! Maybe it was her accent or something but her teaching style did not compute with me.
She really demonstrates she's a Doctor in Science. I love her passion when teaching and sharing what she knows. Gotta study as twice as you did in chm1945, but after all you can get an A!
Class way to difficult. She's always there to help you though. Recommend her.
A lot of extra credit opportunity so but she makes this class impossible. My class started off with 113 students and after the second test there was only 26 left, everyone dropped the class because they were failing. I got straight A's in 1025 & 1045 and barely passed this class. If you have a job and are taking other classes don't take her.
Just finished the semester with an easy A. Got to study a lot since General Chemistry 2 is the toughest, but it was worth it in the end. Professor Julia helps you succeed and it's always there for you. She makes her final exam super doable so everybody gets a good grade. I recommend her 100%
Took Prof. Diaz for CHM1033, she is very clear from the beginning as to what she expects and she expects you to study! This is chem you can't pass without reviewing the material. Her lectures are good but she does have an accent. She is available during office hours and is very helpful if you ask her. Test are tough but you can pass them with A's.
Very nice, prepared professor. She's proven to be the most qualified professor to teach the hardest chemistry course in college. Again, the hardest chemistry course!! Don't think you'll pass it by procrastinating and little study.
Great semester! Great grade! Thank you professor Julia!
She's Great but you actually have to put in the work to obtain the grade.. do all the h.w and all the extra credit it boost your grade
She is a good professor but her tests are super tough. Get ready to work. I was able to just use the Modular Study guide to get through the course. There's online homework, so make time for that. Also, she is always extremely helpful if you make time to go to visit her during her office hours.
This class is not easy! If you want to pass prepare to read. This has been one of the hardest semesters considering that I was taking 4 classes and work but if study hard you can still pass the class with an A, but you have to earn it . Exams are hard, this is a class you can't procrastinate ! Great professor though she's helpful and funny.
Her class is super tough. She makes it hard for you to pass and there isn't no extra credit. She's nice don't get me wrong but her teaching style is confusing. If you wanna pass CHM1046 don't take her. She makes it impossible.
More proffesors should teach with the passion she does, she's great. Her class is tough and if you don't study from the first day and you don't do your homework you won't do good She is very helpful during her office hours. Gives extra credit homework and also graded homework. I managed to get one B and one F and 3 D's and still passed with a C.
I really like this professor. Her explanations sometimes can be confusing , but if you go to her office hours she'll explain everything again. What I liked most is that the exams are exactly what she teaches in class, so all questions in the exams are doable. Makes good use of class time, and offers tons of extra credit. Read the book too, it helps
Sometimes she runs in the lectures, and it could get pretty tiring. There's a lot of material to cover so make sure you study as soon as you get new notes. There are no surprises in her tests. What she taught you and examples exercises that's what's in the test. However, read the book from the cover to the end.
tough course; very helpful professor.
She's a great teacher, She moves at a really fast pace but great teacher!
Studied for weeks, did all the homework and the all the modular book questions . And absolutely nothing of that was on the exam. Wouldn't talk her again
Shes an amazing teacher but the class is hard. She gives really good lectures, but you have to pay attention to pass the class. I would take her again, but you have to work for your grade. Her test are a bit difficult but if you study and put in the effort then you will pass.
She is great. Very helpful will explain everything again in office hours. Gives extra credit. Tests are not difficult only thing is she moves fast but u must study a lot. Her class is doable if you put the effort
She is one of those professors who loves her job and wants to help you succeed in this class. She presents the info clearly in lectures and will give you extra help in office hours. The subject itself is difficult but she knows that and is willing to help if she sees that you're trying. By far, the best professor I've had so far!!
She's great, only option was between her or Tarafa. I'm so glad I got her. She's a really good teacher and makes sure you understand WHY something work so not just HOW. The class itself isn't easy but she gives a bunch of area to boost your grade with the homework; 10% of your grade AND extra credit sections, AND pltl credit too. I learned a lot
IF YOU WANT TO PASS 1046L DO NOT TAKE HER
Okay so chemistry its not an easy subject, but Prof. Diaz will make it understanble. I have to admit that she has a funny accent but you can understand her just fine. i had a hard time in this class but because chemistry is a hard subject, but if you study, pay attention, and go to every class, you should be just fine!
Professor Diaz makes chemistry understandable, her lectures are very interesting and to the point of what you will be tested on.
Okay so chemistry its not an easy subject, but Prof. Diaz makes it understandable. I have to admit that she has a funny accent, but you can understan her just fine! i had a hard time in this class but because chemistry is a hard subject, but if you study, pay attention, and go to class, you should be just fine!
Studied for weeks, did all the homework. And got D's on all her tests because absolutely nothing of that was on the exam. Her tests are no joke. She talks super fast and it's hard to take everything in so quickly. She also writes in cursive which is hard to read. Wouldn't talk her again.
sweet lady but very difficult to pass her class. Gives a lot of homework and offers additional sections to the hw as extra credit. Didn't find her lectures helpful at all your better off reading the book, moves quickly barely gives you time to write notes and she gives no reviews, and her tests are hard, don't go in hand with what she teaches.
She really wants you to learn. I took her for the lab and before every lab she explained in depth what we had to know for the experiment. She's really nice and even let me make up a lab one time I wasn't able to go.
She genuinely a nice person but forgets we are learning this for the first time. Her exams are nearly impossible, and tutoring resources at school are a necessity. The lecture helps very little I really only showed up for the attendance.
Very knowledgeable in her field and she loves teaching chemistry so it makes you want to pay attention. The course content is heavy but she makes it manageable.
OK, before I begin I want to point out that Chemistry is one of the toughest courses in college that you will take. If you want to an easy A... you better change your career choice before taking this course! Professor Diaz is one of the most passionate professors I've had since I've been in college will work with you to succeed.
This professor made chem easy, she breaks everything down very well and tells you exactly what will be on the test. If you have any questions she will help you with anything. She doesnt like when you use your phone or talk so pay attention. The homework is online and the tests are similar to the problems in the book, i would take again.
She was a pretty good professor, but as it is chemistry you have to put a lot of your own time into understanding the concepts
She's a good professor. Her course load is clear and her exams reflect the online homework and the problems done in class. If you can do the problems she does in class and the homework, you should be able to ace her exams easily. My only complain is that her teaching is not superb. She sometimes makes easy things complicated, but nobody's perfect.
She is one of the best CHM 1046 Proffesors at MDC kendall campus. Her exams are what she reviews in class and she gives ALOT of extra credit. I suggest you study from the modular book. If anybody failed this class it's because they did not comit to it. I recommend her to every one.
I LOVE Diaz, she's such an amazing human. She's so funny and caring. You can really talk to her, her lectures are so good you won't feel the 2 hours. Chem itself is a very tough and hard class so plz study from the second you get the material. Do all the homework it helps. TAKE GOOD NOTES SHE SAYS EVERYTHING THAT IS ON THE TEST!!
Professor Julia Diaz consul was an amazing teacher I took her for spring term and she really taught well she taught you everything on the exams.
Prof. Consul is A M A Z I N G. Chem is very difficult to comprehend and she makes it so easy to understand! She is always available for help and theres a lot of extra credit. Everything she says in lecture is on the exams. There is homework but it helps you understand and boost grade. TAKE HER!! She is the best!! Very caring as well.
She doesn't really explain thoroughly just has the notes pre-written and just tells you this is how the work is done. She moves on way too fast. She finished teaching a chapter 2 days before the test. Claims she wants you to pass but doesnt teach properly nor does she care if you dont do well on the test she will just tell you to work harder
SHE IS A FANTASTIC TEACHER BUT THE MATERIAL IS EXTREMEMLY DIFFICULT FOR MOST, SHE IS ARTICULATE EVEN WITH HER ACCENT. I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED HAVING HER FOR SUMMER A. I HAD TO STUDY VERY HARD BUT I ENDED UP WITH AN "A" SO I AM PREPARED FOR ORGANIC CHEM NOW
Professor Diaz is the best. She explains everything thoroughly and provides you with all the information you need to pass her tests. She's very nice and knowledgable. Unfortunately only had her for the first half of the course, but I wish I had her for the whole course.
Very difficult to understand her, she used paper material from previous classes which is extremely mediocre since there is technology and books to use. You well get headaches try to read of the board the paper lecture since scrambled like a 3 rd grader.
Chem is tough, but this prof is so nice and caring! No she's not going to give U a free pass U have to study no way around that, but if U ever need help she's so attentive and caring when answering any questions during her office hours. Replies to all emails and will go out of her way to make u feel like she knows who u r in her class. RECOMMEND!!!
Professor Diaz cares about her students and loves to teach. She is really sweet and caring and wants you to pass. She is my favorite chemistry professor! She explains very clearly, her notes in class are the best and she's very fair with tests, Homework is extra credit! Take her you won't regret it!!!!
Awful
Gives quizzes every class& deducts points off pointless things even if the answer is correct. 3 tests the whole semester which are 50% of your grade. Wants you to memorize everything& doesnt go over anything in lab which makes it difficult if you have another teacher for lecture. Expects you to dedicate all your time to this class. Dont take her.
The best Chemistry teacher at MDC. She cares about her students and her lectures are the best. If you have any question she will gladly explain during class or during her office hours. If you do all the homework and the extra credit, your average grade will increase a lot.
Ive no words to say how wonderful this professor is! Ive had 5 different Chem teachers, and I assure you all that shes been the only one who made me LOVE CHEMISTRY. SHE IS AMAZING!!! If you have the chance, take her, dont let her go. Btw dont try looking for an easier class... THIS IS CHEMISTRY AFTER ALL!!! STUDYING!!! Grow up! #COLLEGE
I LOVE this lady!! She is a great teacher, really makes sure you understand the material- and if not she is always available outside of class. Extra credit for every module is offered. Four fairly easy tests and a non-mandatory final. She's really passionate about what she teaches. LOVE LOVE LOVE her! trust me, all nursing majors TAKE HER.
homework doesnt offer any sort of help, its either right or wrong. She offers extra credit in the hw but it doesnt do much. Shes passionate, but I wish her notes were more detailed as students I know feel like they dont even know what theyve written because they are too rushed to write everything down than be able to listen to her teach.
Chemistry is hard, this teacher makes it easy!!! Hw & extra credit. Also replaces bad test grade
the. best.
Be extremely careful when reading Ratings.. Terrible experience, not a good teaching method.
She's awesome!!! She makes Chemistry so easy, so beautiful, and so interesting!!! Highly recommend her!!! THE BEST!!!
I love the way professor Consul teaches. So far the best chem professor Ive taken at Dade. She is always available if you need her during office hours. Get ready to study since the material is not easy. If you go to class and study weekly you should be fine. Chemistry isnt easy so regardless of the professor you take you must study a lot.
Shes beyond amazing!
You will never find a better one at MDC. THE BEST! The thing is that most of you try to memorize everything for the sake of just passing and forgetting about it afterwards. Chemistry is about understanding and picturing in your mind every process and applying logic. You will never learn it even if it is Marie Curie the one teaching the material.
She is one of the BEST chemistry professors at the Kendall Campus. CHM1046 was hard and her tests were not easy. So if you are not willing to study for hours, practice hundreds of problems and put 103% in effort, then she is not the professor for you. Her class literally changed my way of studying for the better. She is great but tough.
Let's be straight up, this class is EXTREMELY HARD. But she makes it a bit easier. She is extremely helpful and always there to help her students. Lots of extra credit and resources to help your grade. She 100% along with my lab professor is the reason why I passed.
This professor is THE BEST that you can take for chemistry, she really cares!!!!!!, Chemistry is not an easy class so you will have to practice as well on your own, she is always at her office hours if you have any questions, her exams are though but if you study hard you will pass.
Professor Diaz-Consul is truly an amazing professor. Chemistry overall is difficult and she does the best she can to help you out in understanding the lectures. The homework and extracredit does truly help your grade so do it!! She is available outside the class and will happily help you with anything you are concerned about. She cares alot !!
Julia is a good professor she explains everything in detail but being a good profesor also means been a though grader and be demanding . She sometimes helps if you go to her office but she is sometimes a little bit rude . If you study hard you can finish with a B
Very good professor, she goes pretty fast since it is a lot of content to go over. Homework is essential for understanding so do it ! 3 tests, optional final. I got low B's on all the tests but the hw and extra credit brought my final grade to an A.
Dont take her its not a good professor
Not the best professor
Get ready to read the CHEM BOOK. If you don't read the CHEM textbook (the actual book)... Good luck to you. Do all of the HW and the EXTRA CREDIT HOMEOWORK. Highly recommend going to PLTL. Her lectures I don't really love. No powerpoint provided, just her hand written notes in class. Did I mention you need to READ !!!!!! the textbook :D
Professor Diaz-Consul is okay. I had her for the first half of Summer C (so summer A) it is A LOT of material, the tests are extremely difficult, I went to the tutoring lab for hours and still can not get the material on the test. If you did not have enough time to finish the test, she will blame you and say that you did not study enough.
This has been the most mediocre class that I have ever taken. She doesn't explain. She talks for hours and comes with problems already solved and then transfers the results to a new page. Her tests are CONFUSING and tough. She gives only 6 points for extracredits for homework (aroud 60 problems) THAT ARE NOT EVEN SIMILAR TO THE EXAM. Avoid her.
very nice, but it was hard to understand her during her lectures. she also moved through the material extremely quickly . notetaking was terrible, it was hard to comprehend the lecture and copy what she was writing at the same time. I spent close to 10 hours a week in the study lab and saw her during office hours and just barely passed.
The worst teacher.
I think she is an overrated 1046 professor. Sometimes she focus on theory which is good but she does it without going into much detail. The way she solve some math problems seems really ridiculous as she takes the longer route for no reason. Her test are VERY straightforward when it comes to math problems and simple when about theory. Not a hard A
She says that she's there for you and to ask her any questions but then treats you like an idiot when you ask her anything and tells you to look at your book and doesnt answer. Goes through lectures extremely quick and gets annoyed when someone doesnt understand something then wonders why everyone is failing.
lots of notes
You all stop writing bad comments about her. That your brains are retarded and not good enough to handle 1046 is not her fault. She is not a surgeon to open your heads, put the material, and then close it. SHE IS THE BEST Chemistry professor at MDC and NOT DOUBT ABOUT IT. You all gotta stop being lazy and stop blaming her for your stupidity.
She is awsomeee!!! If you are an average student like me, go ahead and take her. If youre a bad student, then no body works for you lol. She is an easy A.
She has accent so it may be a little bit difficult to fully understand the lectures. But order than that, she's cool. Some people may find her lectures boring but she does cover a lot of information on the test. There are a lot of homework in Pearson for this course though. I think this class is not that hard to get an A
For such a tough subject, this professor teaches very well. She goes a little quick for me but, my class was only 50 minutes. The only thing is that she doesnt really like when you ask too many questions
The best. If you do not pass this class you are never passing Chemistry.
AMAZING professor!!! 100%
AMAZING PROFESSOR, SHE WANTS HER STUDENTS TO SUCCEED AND PASS WITH THE BEST POSSIBLE GRADE. TAKE HER. DO NOT THINK TWICE.
Great professor! Chem is hard and specially 1046L. I learned more with her than with my lecture teacher. She did not teach any 1046 lectures this semester but I'm glad at least I had her for my lab.
this subject is very hard and not easy at all so unless your not willing to actually study change your major... she gives homwork online which is 10% of your grade and extra credit .. If you do good on the midterm or final she will replace that grade with one of your bad test grades so study and go to touring!! it helps a ton
My experience with this professor was truly amazing. Her teaching style was perfect for me, everything she talked about in class was on the exams. She provides good notes to study from. There were four exams, two of which were midterms, final is optional. She also offers extra credit which boosts your average by a lot of points.
She is overrated. Isnt as good as they make her seem. I would go straight to tutoring after her class for 8 hours and would still fail her test. She copied old notes as new ones for class. She asks if you have questions and when someone does she makes comments about it. I dont recommended. Took her for lab and lecture. Lab: quiz every class
Julia is an amazing professor. I took her for lab and lecture. She the perfect professor the only negative comments about her must be from students who failed. And they failed cause they didnt try. As long as you study its so possible to get a great grade. She even gave me a letter of recommendation
Dont fall for these reviews like i did she is terrible she by far takes the award for worst teacher in dade. She dose not care about her students at all. during the corona pandemic she made the class even harder and expected everyone to understand her crappy power points. she is also hard to understand heavy accent. Her tests are beyond hard!!!!!!
Dont take this teacher! Do yourselves a favor and find somebody else. She doesnt care about the well being of her students during this pandemic and made her class harder. She isnt understanding at all. Her teaching style is awful and blames you if u fail no matter how much you study. Find another teacher!!
Im currently taking her class for both CHM1033 and CHM1033L and so far I have an overall grade of an A in both classes. The course itself isnt easy but she makes lectures very clear and useful. Shes also very accessible outside of class and the tests are fair. I would definitely recommend her but know you have to put in the time and study!
I did not fail her class, but she was the most unreasonable professor I've had so far. There are people taking this class for the 2nd and now will be the 3rd time because she is really out of touch with her students suffering during this pandemic. This class is not offered online for a reason. I am so disappointed in her and in MDC.
Lets be clear. It is an extremely difficult subject which will require Lots of studying. Many students complain and blame here for their failure. YOU HAVE TO STUDY. Her teaching is very good and I understood every single lecture. I do believe she could have been a little less intense during this pandemic. Some of us were really struggling at home.
Julia is truly amazing, despite having our semester cut short. Thanks covid19, but anyway she was an amazing teacher and explained very well but in order to pass you MUST DO THE WORK! read the chapters ahead before class, submit all homework and extra credit DO NOT WAIT UNTIL LAST MINUTE!! it is truly a lot but I learned a lot and passed with a B
youll have a quiz every class and she grades lab reports way too strictly! if you want a good lab experience dont take her!
wouldnt recommend at all! she is a very heavy grader and during the corona virus pandemic she had no compassion at all! she has a strong accent and goes beyond fast during lectures. take another professor if you want to actually learn and pass!
I had a good experience with Diaz. Her lectures are clear, if you ask her to explain she will, During the COVID-19 pandemic, she made several versions of the lessons which helped me. If I had any questions it was easy to email her and ask. Everyone who says otherwise wanted to cheat their way through the class. Get ready to study though.
Worst experience at MDC. The majority of our chem1033 were dissatisfied with Julia. I dont know how shes gotten any good reviews at all. I studied all the time, sometimes 10 hours a day, and still ended up with a C. She moves really fast through modules and her tests have 4 different versions so some people had easier tests. Glad its over.
She really didn't take into consideration that students are taking more than 1 class online w/ this whole pandemic situation . She gave TOO MUCH material to learn in such little time. She is very easy to contact though, and if you have questions she there, but I honestly wouldn't take her again.
Do not recommend. She had zero consideration in an already difficult class during the pandemic and made the class more difficult. She goes swiftly through new chapters and then tests you on them the same week. Your grade depends mainly on how well you do on her tests as the HW is weighted very little. Would not take again.
RUN don't walk away. THE worst prof I ever had in my life.A nightmare during the pandemic. Didn't lecture, did NOT answer questions, did proctored tests (the other profs did not have proctoring). Was very defensive & lashing out at us. Her tests are sooo much harder than the lecture&homeworks. I have nothing against her. Just wanna warn others
I took this class with Consul during the Covid-19, I got an A in the class not because she taught, but because I taught myself. If you want a teacher DO NOT TAKE HER. Does not care for her students only doing the minimum effort to finish the semester.
Before the pandemic honestly a very good professor. Lecture was understanding for the most part (it's chem you have to put in a a lot of work on your own anyways) during this pandemic she made the class WAY MORE stressful than it needed to be. She had no empathy, consideration or understanding for anyone. Do not recommend her online!
I'd recommend her before the pandemic. But during the pandemic, she was the only chem 2 prof who had proctored tests. Which I think is fair, if both of the profs did. The problem is her tests ARE VERY CHALLENGING. It is very hard to keep up with her -online. And she has LOTS of students. You won't get much attention&help.
I've never been so stressed in my life. This is the first time that I've ever failed a class and I'm really upset about it. Her exams are very challenging. But her exams during the pandemic were terrible. Exams are proctored, lots of homework, lots of theory on exams, and she can be very rude. I honestly regret taking her my gpa went down a lot.
Although she may not be as horrible as some other ratings state, she often tends to rush through the lectures and modules to cover enough for the tests. She teaches decently but what really helps are the online modules that she assigns which are mandatory. This class is not for the weak. DO NOT TAKE if you are not prepared to give 200% effort.
THE WORST! i dont understand how a human being can have ZERO compassion. DO NOT and i repeat DO NOT give her a chance. she will destroy you mentally.
The best of the bests! I had her for 1033 and for 1046. She truly is an amazing professor. Shame on all those people writing bad comments, you all should not be allowed to be part of the STEM field. Btw, the coronavirus is not an excuse for you to fail a class. As a scientist or Dr., youll face bigger challenges. Take this as a learning experience
Amazing profesor. Like someone said below, she is only an amazing professor for hard working students. If you know you are lazy and just want an easy grade, then she is not the one for you. Look for a professor who is at your level. She will teach you real chemistry. If you find it difficult, well then change majors cuz science classes get harder
She gives opportunities for students to pass by offering extra credit along with the module homework she assigns. Its through that homework youll be able to understand and pass the class. You must study. I wouldve gotten an A or B if I studied enough. Take notes from her powerpoints & practice more problems from the chem book and youll be okay
If you really wanna learn and you have what it takes to study everyday, then she is the right prof for you. She is a WONDERFUL prof. Keep in mind that in this class you will learn complex concepts, memorizing is not enough but seeing and understanding the beauty behind it. Doing all the problems from the book without understanding is not the way.
BEST ONE AT MDC!!
I learned a lot from her lectures. She gives extra credit homework and for PLTL (which i recommend taking also) the test is difficult but if you do a lot of practice problems from the textbook, you should be good. I enjoyed her lectures, it definitely wasnt a waste of time.
Professor Consul has been one of my favorites professors ever. She explains everything like if you are 5 years old. If you read the summary of the Chapter before going to class, and once there you really pay attention, you are gonna understand everything. Chemistry can be challenging but she makes it easy. TAKE HER, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!!!!
After reading the reviews I concluded that she would be a great professor. However, I was wrong. Maybe the virus has something to do with it but I think she's mediocre . I find the quality of her lectures and explanations below average leaving me as the student to figure out EVERYTHING. Just beware before choosing her. You'll be on your own!
Here's the thing. Chemistry is hard NO MATTER WHAT PROF YOU HAVE! Don't ever think you're going to find an easy chem classs. The good thing ab this class is that she does a really good job at explaining. You just need to STUDY! 4 exams. Final is optional. Take her class, she is a good teacher and tries her best to be there for her students.
Too much hw and test were the hardest thing ever and proctored. I tried to take her during summer for chem 1033. Worst professor ever. Go to homestead campus instead! Avoid Kendall for chemistry
I had her Lecture class and lab and i'm glad I took her class. She did an amazing job at managing this class during covid. She explains really good and she's there if you ever need help. She's is extremely understanding and nice. I'm not the best at science but if you just study, you can pass this class. TAKE HER, she is a really good teacher.
Avoid at all costs. I took her based off of her reviews and it was the worst thing I could ever do. Lockdown browser test where you have to find a way to place you face and hands in view at all times. The homework is through an application but she has the settings to not tell you why you got the question wrong. NOT UNDERSTANDING WITH YOU AT ALL.
Took her for lecture and lab, wrong decision. Heavy lectures and exams. Super picky grader. Hw is on owl and its lengthy, almost nothing like the exams. No test reviews. Tests on lockdown browser, wanted everything in frame which was hard so It flagged me a couple of times. Students made a group chat that was more helpful than her.
4 exams, 1 final (drops lowest exam grade), extra credit, and homework were given. Her exams are hard and theory heavy. My advice is you have to put a lot of time and effort. Do the homework and extra credit, the practice problems in the textbook, and the problems at the end of each chapter. Also focus on theory and understanding key concepts.
I took CHM1033/L both with Prof. Diaz-Consul this semester and I enjoyed both classes. Not all courses have easy material, this course is gonna be a lot of work regardless of the professor(like calc). Do all the homework and the extra credit and you'll be well prepped for the 4 multiple choice exams(highest grade replaces a low grade).
Julia Diaz is nice, however her class and its content is not very nice at all. Instead of giving us chem 1 content she gave us organic chemistry which is one of the hardest. I was very disappointed with this class and professor. I felt extremely dumb and defeated. I would study so hard just to get a 60 on an exam.
Worst professor ever. I only took her for the lab and it was the worst thing that I ever did. She makes this class more difficult than it is. If you want to save your GPA do not take her.
honestly i studied day and night for this class and still managed to fail her exam even understanding the subject she is nice no doubt but save yourselves i would honestly pick another professor
Exams are nothing like what she teaches. I had to see You Tube videos to understand. Worst professor ever.
Pretty straightforward what you need to do to get through the class, 11 labs and 11 quizzes along with 3 exams. If you get to do the labs in person they are fun. The professor is caring and tries to help as much as possible but won't spoon feed so at least read the chapter(about 4-6 pages) and do the pre-lab before class.
I've never had a professor before who gave FIVE exams. I've had 4 exams and one gets dropped but 5 exams is just ridiculous. Wait til you take her exams online. Ridiculous guidelines have to be followed on lockdown browser. You have to show your face AND your hands while taking the exam or it's "invalidated". Did not learn or enjoy this class. 0/10
Not going to lie, this class was difficult, I barely passed with a C but that is on me for not studying enough, having said that if you put in the time and effort to study and go over the material this class will not be as difficult as many people claim it to be. The professor really does try to help students out, don't be afraid to ask for help.
Despite class being online, she incessantly stops lecturing until someone unmutes their mic to respond, and forces us to take tests with a webcam so she can see our faces and hands at all times, which made me have to buy a separate webcam. She believes the world revolves around her class and thus assigns MOUNDS of homework. Take another teacher
I love how this professor gives you the why behind everything. She immediately shows you how this is used in real life. Her grading criteria is crystal clear. Do all of the homework and that will help you get an A. Attend all lectures or you wont pass. Talk to her after your exam and see what you got incorrect. Two of the tests are cumulative.
First off amazing teacher, but TERRIBLE homework assignments. The class had some trouble keeping up with her, so many bombed the first test but personally found the exams okay. The teacher is REALLY strict about cheating and she failed many students due to this. I personally really liked her and loved her PowerPoints, get the book and read ahead.
She genuinely cares about your progress in the course. She does her best to explain the concepts not only so we can memorize them, but so that we really understand whats's going on, and thats crucial for taking higher level chem classes. I would definitely take her again.
She's there for you during office hours and after class. She has an accent so it may be hard to understand but she truly means best. Many didn'tlike her bc of her accent and she invalidated many tests bc she caught them cheating lmao but besides that, 4 exams, 1 final, homework, and extra credit. shes willing to change test dates if necessary.
Taking her for Chem Lab since this was the only professor available. She says she is there for you if you have any questions but when you ask her a question she will tell the WHOLE class "i need you guys to listen to me when i speak" when its a simply question and she will also look at you like you're dumb when you ask a question just to make sure.
Professor Diaz-Consul is amazing. I am currently taking her for CHM1046 and I truly believe she is one of the best Professors at MDC. If you want an easy A, don't take Chemistry at MDC Kendall. The class is hard and you have to study A LOT, but her lectures are awesome. She truly cares about the students.
Very heavy accent, hard tests, stay on top of your assignments and you will be okay, but this class with her is too much work and she moves on too fast. If you are trying to get an A do not take her trust me.
As oppose to everyone else I wasnt taken a back by her accent, more so by her disrespectful and aggressive attitude. Shes the type of prof that tells students to ask questions, but then begrudgingly answers as if shes annoyed. Shes not a difficult prof, just incredibly ill mannered. Def should not be teaching bc it is not a career she enjoys
Terrible attitude, definitely does not provide an environment that aids in learning. Her heavy accent is secondary to her terrible attitude and approach to teaching. Insecurely asks the class what am I doing wrong, after rushing through chapters & giving us an exam on said rushed chapter. Do not take
If you are really interested in understand the material this is your professor. This has been my only chemistry class when I havent need YouTube to teach myself the material. She is alaways available during office hours and she is extremely caring. Her lectures are amazing and she also give power points with the recordings.
Julia is hands down the best professor the Kendall Chemistry department has, I had her for lecture and the lab, shes a very involved professor that cares about the performance of her students. Being honest chemistry 1046 is a course with a tremendous amount of work and studying periodically its the only thing that will guarantee a good grade.
Dr. Diaz-Consul is a professor that truly wants the best for you. 4 exams, mandatory homework, extra credit test from homework and extra credit pop quizzes. She doesn't try to intimidate you and she does not expect you to know the material right away. Ask questions, answer her in class and use her office hours.
The material is challenging but she is very good at explaining and if you ask questions she will help you to understand. You definitely need to study and do the homework. She responds fairly quickly to emails and has prerecorded powerpoints with audio, which I found better than the book, which I barely even used the entire semester.
This professor is a huge PHONY!!!!!!! Never in my 35 years of life have I ever met someone so UNFAIR, DIFFICULT AND RUDE!!! Do yourself a favor and do NOT believe the "GOOD" reviews. I had no choice but to WITHDRAW. Take another professor for Chemistry, or order MDC Kendall to have BETTER CHEMISTRY PROFESSORS!!!
This professor is very nice and gives extra credit. However, she makes the material 10x harder than what it actually is and her homework along with the extra credit quizzes is nothing like the exams. Her exams are EXTREMELY difficult and very theory HEAVY. I studied every day and felt confident before each exam and still failed.
I don't recommend her
Chemistry is hard, but this professor made it extremely bearable. She helped me whenever I needed it through email, in class, or her office hours. She genuinely cares and wants her students to succeed. You have to study and put in work on your own!She was great and I would recommend her every time. I had the best experience with her.
SHE IS AN INSPIRING AND CARING TEACHER AND ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. Makes a hard subject as chemsitry easy to understand. Gives extra credit assignment and explains extremely well and clear. She makes the class really fun and is very organized with the content and grades. I will recomened 100% taking her if you want to learn chemistry.
She doesnt know how to teach properly and when she does teach she only explains half of it and the rest you self teaching yourself
I would totally recommend you take her for chemistry. She is an extraordinary teacher who cares about your grade, and learning and gives good lectures. She makes the class fun and easy to understand. I would recommend you taking for the lab and lecture, you won't regret it. Good luck.
Julia was great, I will be taking the class again because I lacked attention and should have paid more attention. She gave us extra credit quizzes and gave us key terms to study for the quiz.
BEST TEACHER EVER. Explain class extremely well and is very organized. Teaches with passion and answer every question you have until you have a clear understanding of the topic. Gives extra credit and care a lot about your grades and education. There is no a better teacher at MDC. I would recommend you taking her 100000%, you will not reegret it.
This is the best chemistry professor I've ever had. Prof Diaz is passionate, caring, gives you everything you need to pass with high scores. Just show up, take notes, ask questions, you will get an A. 4 tests, but she gives you a choice to drop your lowest score if you do better on another test. She answers questions, makes sure you get it. THEBEST
i loved her, she gives a lot of information during lectures and moves pretty quickly but she's very accessible. homework isnt too bad and they help a lot for the exams. the textbook is more for you to study more than anything, over all i recommend her class for 1033
AMAZING! So genuine and kind, she really knows the content. She explains very well and stops whenever you have questions. Never rude. The HW and lectures prepare you for the exams and with practice you will ace the exams. 4 exams, final optional, and some test grades can replace others. take her for lecture and lab because she stays on pace.
Her homework prepares you for the tests. Make sure you study for those tests! They are very tricky and not easy at all. She is very helpful during her office hours and will go over any question from the test until you understand why you got it wrong. She cares about you learning the content, especially when you are in 1025. Great professor!
The best chemistry teacher at MDC by far. She is caring and teaches extremely well. I could not recommend her enough!!! Do not hesitate taking her if you want to learn chemistry in the best possible way. GOOD LUCK!
Simply the best chemistry teacher you can possibly have.
I took her for the lectuture and the lab and her class was amazing. She cares about you learning and your grades and will explain things until you understand it. She gives extra credit and makes the class fun and very enjoiable.
Passed this class because I dedicated a lot of time to understanding the material. Don't expect to learn the material the day of the lecture; there's lots of going home and practicing the content but that's with ANY chemistry class. Do hw on time, study, & practice quizzes for extra points. Sign up for PLTL (tutoring) the moment it is offered!
BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER EVER!!!!!
Amazing professor. She's so caring and passionate about what she does, 10/10. However, this class takes a LOT of dedication, so beware of managing your time. Study the modules as soon as she covers them and DON'T fall behind. Her office hours help out a lot even if it's not related to chemistry. Other than that, I wish you all the best of luck.
Best chemistry professor ever! honestly if i could give her 100 stars i would. Wonderful woman, wonderful professor. Very knowledagable, very sweet. shes truly a blessing for this class.
your grade is only based off of the exams. You can not bring up your grade because she does not give you extra credit. If you are deciding on taking her class I would only have two classes max because this class requires a lot of studying and teaching yourself chemistry. Oh and you have an exam every other week
Best professor for chemistry and I am not a strong chemistry student myself. It all takes studying day after day to understand what is being taught. PLTL was also an extreme help. She has extra credit practice quizzes so that's a plus. She is very understanding when you have a concern. Has a lot of office hours for any questions or to review a exam
I loved this class, professor Diaz Consul is the best! I highly recommend her for chemistry 1033. She cares so much for her students. She provides pre recorded lectures and PowerPoints to help you study. There is HW for each module with an extra credit quiz. The extra credit is added to the final grade. Studying DAILY is the key to passing!
This class was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. You will be fine if you review the given material continuously. I studied for every exam but somehow received a test grade of a little over half, which I never understood. Attend PLTL and Stitches to review and even complete homework questions! Exams- 90%, Homework- 10%, Quizzes- 3%.
Best teacher ever. Just take her.
Professor Diaz was a great professor for the third time in a row. I've taken her for 1025 lecture, 1045 lab, 1046 lecture and 1046 lab. She has always been kind, shows up to her office hours, responds to emails, etc. She makes a very hard class as easy as possible, and I can attest that if you put some good hours into it, you'll get the A.
I loved the class with Ms. Dias, she is by far the best chemestry teacher you can possibly have at MDC. I wish she taught Organic Chemestry. Definally would take her again without hesitation.
She was a great teacher and had many resources available online to help you understand. Tests are worth 90% of your grade, but if you use the textbook and the powerpoints she uses for lectures, you will pass for sure. Chemistry isn't easy, so do not expect an easy A with barely any studying.
Best professor ever. I loved her. Take this class.
Anyone that claims they failed due this professor did not study , if you are ever stuck you email her and she WILL get back to you! every time! I recommend her 10/10 times , and be prepared to STUDY especially if you want that A,chemistry is NOT a walk in park
Professor Diaz is a 10/10. She is an amazing instructor and she will teach you the content really well, but then you HAVE to study... Chemistry is not an easy subject. Her exams are not tricky, but they are long and if you don't practice and have the concepts clear then you won't do good. She is very caring and will answer all of your questions.
Julia was nice and available but expected you to already know everything we were learning. You get an hour before lab working on questions and the rest is lab time. Extremely fast paced and very knowlegable in the subject matter but overall hard class.
Prof Julia was a great professor. i struggled bc i genuinely suck at chemistry. She offered office hours, tutoring, lecture videos on canvas. She truly cares for her students and wants them to do well. Her lectures are heavy material, you cannot slack off in this class. 4 exams that are 90% of your grade.
People rating Julia poorly on here fail to recognize that this is a chemistry course. She gives you so many resources such as videos to help you review the work on your own but she cannot do this work for you! She cares dearly for her students but you have to care too. Once she showed me how to study correctly, i stopped failing. THANK YOU JULIA!
This professor was very nice she puts dedication into her work. If you pay attention and try and study you will pass. She has re-recorded lectures to watch at home as well.
She was honestly a great professor. Helped us out whenever she could and was always available when we needed help. She was great at explaining the topics to get you to understand the difficult topics.
I emailed her various time about not understanding a question on the hw,she replied quick and explained. material is very difficult and fast pace she explains very good and clear. To pass enroll in PLTL tutoring, need to put ur max effort, study a lot, watch her pre record lectures, practice questions & quizzes on the Workbook.
She was a great professor and the class was overall easy if you have good study skills. The tests contained all the material taught during lectures. I would email her after school hours and she would ALWAYS help even if it was to move the deadline she would. The professor is definitely very caring and helpful, I 100% recommend her.
She was the best chem teacher. She offered extra credit, replaced the lowest exam grade with the final exam grade, and even recorded videos for extra help. I learned a lot this semester and would recommend her to everyone. You can tell she cares about her students and wants them to do well. If you put time into studying you will pass this class.
Professor Diaz is an amazing professor. She provides recorded videos and power points , and also explains any question if you email her or come to see her during office hours.
Professor Diaz was an amazing teacher. I learned so much this semester in her class, because she cares about you passing the class. I emailed her at 9pm on a Sunday about a question I had and she recorded a 20 min video to make sure that I understood. I really appreciated all of her support this semester. Would definitely take her again.
Professor is really good at teaching her lectures. She provide resources for you to understand the material. The book is recommended to practice, but not essential. Lots of material to cover in the class, so make sure you are up to date and not falling behind. The tests play a key role to your grade.
Diaz Consul is by far the hardest class I have done at MDC. She is the hardest grader ever and this is coming from someone who received an A. She also is not very helpful when it comes to the actual labs and gave me wrong information that she then took off points for. Do not take her if you value your mental health.
Professor Diaz is amazing! She really cares about students and goes the extra mile, like recording videos to help us. The class is challenging but manageable if you put in the work. Unstuckstudy AI was a lifesaver for study prep.
Most caring professor, I 100% recommend taking her class. This course material is challenging and requires a good amount of studying, but she did an amazing job in teaching the content, proving extra credit, answering emails, and being understanding of certain circumstances. She attaches recordings of lectures which are helpful.
She was very nice!! Her lectures were very clear and concise, and easy to talk to, regarding questions on the work or attendance. While attendance is mandatory, she is really understanding if you let her know beforehand or after. With that, the class itself is a bit difficult, she teaches it in a way that makes it understandable instantly.
SHE KNOWS HER STUFF!!! But be prepared to study and she has pre recorded lectures available.
Don't take this professor you will regret it!!! Teaches everything from textbook and English is not her first language so sometimes very confusing.Homework is different than how she teaches in class and the test is even more different than what is taught in class. She's a nice person just a bad teacher.
Professor Diaz is an excellent, knowledgeable, and funny teacher. The class isn't easy, but with effort and studying, you can pass. She moves quickly in lectures, so taking key notes and rewatching her online lectures helps. Tests weigh heavily on your grade, with homework and quizzes making up the rest. I'd take her again and recommend her!
I regret taking this class so much. You score one bad grade on an exam and your grade is done for. Many people spend countless hours studying and still fail tests because of the difficulty. Her lectures are nothing like the tests or practice problems. When going to her office hours, get ready to feel judged. 0/10 do not recommend.
I don't even have words.. I hated every moment of this class. Her accent, her handwriting, she SPEEDS through the lessons. Your tests are the only grades that truly matter as they are 90% of your grade. Save your time and your sanity, she thinks you should study 4 hours a day everyday minimum as if this is the only class students are taking.
Look I did it but doesn't mean you should. This class was so hard for intro to chem, she crammed us with so much information 3 days before the test and doesn't care. Honestly if you fail 1 test just drop the class because exams are worth 90 percent. I don't really recommend her because when you go to office hours she comes off as passive aggressive
Simply do not do it. Every bad review is accurate.
For intro to chem she makes it harder than it is.She expects you to memorize a lot of information in a short amount of time.Your grade is dependent on exams. Many student's spend hours studying and still fail exams because it's nothing like the homework. Please save your time and get your credit somewhere else. My entire class felt this way
Will make sure i never take this professor again I ended the class with a 64% and wasn't able to help me to make it to 65%. She is a really tough grader and your grade is 90% of test which is a lot. Make sure you dont take this professor.
She's an amazing professor. She cares a lot about her students and will be ready to help you if you ask her. She also responds to emails quickly. The test are not so difficult (very similar to HWs), but you have to manage your time well because otherwise you will run out of it.
Dr. Diaz teaches you heavy topics and makes them digestible- but you also need to chew on your own. She does not hand hold you; she gives you the tools to succed. She even goes beyond her office hours to teach you. No judgement. That said, if you want to succeed in STEM beyond college, take her, not if you want an "easy" chem class.
Dr. Diaz is great! She gives you the tools necessary (prerecorded lectures, ppt, extra credit, hw) to succeed. She's also accessible during her office hours, and if you have any questions or need help on a homework problem, you can always email her and she'll reply back quickly. As long as you put in the work and study well, you should be fine.
Professor Diaz is great teacher who knows her material VERY well. She gives you plenty of tools to succeed (recorded lectures, extra credit, hw) - you just need to put in the effort and continuously study. She encourages you to succeed even if her tone sometimes doesn't show it, but don't worry that's just what make her who she is. 😂
The best Professor to take for Chemistry. The class is difficult but she makes it easy to pass. She provides many resources including pre-recorded lectures for every module. She's very nice and caring I recommend her 10000%
She is an amazing profes
She was okay, only positive thing I can state was a lot of extra credit like PLTL- however her HW barely helps benefit your grade.
She's nice but wants you to put forth maximum effort. Her lecture's are a bit lengthy yet very informative make sure to go over and review the PowerPoints/lecture notes before and after class. Her homework is more just practice to help you learn the material and non too much related to her exams. She dose give a little extra credit from doing PLTL.
Diaz Consul is a well educated and respected professor in what she teaches. Although she grades test heavy, she explains things clear and concise, always asks if anyone has questions, and is always available during her office hours. she gave me some quality advice that helped me ace the next test. I'm not a fan of chemistry, but she's amazing.
She is honestly one of the best professors I have had. She is extremely knowledgable and wants her students to succeed (Going to her office hours was the best thing). She doesn't just read off of her powerpoints, she explains everything really well. I am awful at chemistry but she really helped me succeed.
She is amazing.
Good teacher, the subject itself is just a little hard but if you study you'll do fine. Her prerecorded lectures carried, they we're very helpful so I recommend watching those.
She is not a bad person but when she complains on why your doing so bad she just says you need to study harder even though you studied non stop for weeks, this class genuinely made me feel things i have never felt before. I have never thought I was stupid till this class.
I have never wanted to pull my hair out more than when I took this class. I was questioning all of my life decisions until this point and genuinely thought about giving up. This professor thinks everyone loves and understands chemistry the way she does, and if you don't then you haven't studied enough.
Professor is very accessible during her office hours and will help you review on priors exams. This class is test heavy, meaning test is worth 90% of your grade. You definitely have to put in the work for this class and study but she's always willing to explain the concept or any questions you have.
She is amazing! The most organized and prepared professor I have had at Dade. This class is hard and she is not going to gift you your grade. But if you let her, she WILL make sure that you learn and earn it. Extremely available outside of class. She even has videos on her canvas with her lectures. Clear expectations from the start. I loved her.
Dr. Diaz Consul was amazing! Super knowledgeable, actually a genius. You can tell she really cares about her students and she is super passionate. Take this class if you actually want to learn. It's difficult if you don't put in the work, but she gives you everything you need to succeed. She explains things in a very simple way. 10/10 recommend.
loved her. you will only pass if you put in the effort. this is the first class i've put actual effort to and i loved it. she was also always available for her office hours and you can tell she appreciates when students go. CHM1033 lecture def is harder than lab but take both w her she really ties them together and it helps on the test!
Prof. Julia, who I had for both lab and lecture, is very kind and really wants you to understand chemistry. The subject itself is extremely challenging—each test gets harder, so studying every day is essential. Don't even think about cheating; she watches like a hawk. She's a great professor, but chem demands full commitment all semester.
for a intro class, she made it way more complicated than it needed to be. she makes it a big deal to study for 4 hours minimum a day which at that point, i was self teaching for a class i was paying for. more than 65% of kids drop out of class by the half way mark which you can avoid by not taking her.
She's very kind and respectful. Exams are proctored, multiple choice, and 90% of your grade. She expects you to memorize quite a lot of information in very little time. The class is difficult and missing just one day or not understanding one topic, will already put you behind as everything taught/learned is cumulative. Expect to study a lot!
Ur grade is almost purely based off 4 exams multiple choice using scantron. Online homework given about once a week. You need to study A LOT, approx 12 hrs a week. this class is a lot of difficult material in a small amount of time. She's an okay professor
She was really good at explaining everything but is a harsh grader to where her exams are hard to achieve an A on. She does do partial credit but the exams seem easier than they actually are. I recommend her if you are there to learn and wouldn't be for someone trying to get an easy A. The experiments were fun though!
