I learned alot from her. She is very detailed and expects alot out of you. She tells stories and helps you understand, it is just she wants you to COMPLETELY understand how it all works.
One of the best teachers I have had. Explains difficult concepts well and is very engaging. You will have to put in a lot of work because of the amount of material given, but it will give you a good basis for higher level biology and health science courses. If you want an easy ride, it's not for you, but if you really want to learn, she's the best!
HIGH EXPECTATIONS FROM HER STUDENTS. SHE REALLY KNOWS HER STUFF
Julia is the best science teacher I've ever had.She is so dedicated and does anything she can to help her students. She simplifies the most difficult concepts so anyone can understand. There are usually multiple assignments every class. Its worth it! She makes sure you will finish really knowing what you learned.
She is hard, she will tell you she is hard, but definietly worth it! You will walk out with far more knowledge than your peers who took another instructor. Exam are are hard! But tells you what will be on there and what to study. Great lecture & useful powerpoints. Highly recommended!!
If you are used to traditional lectures like at the U of A then you probably will not like this teacher. She makes a 20 minute explanation out of something that takes about 5 minutes and she actaully made it more confusing for me
Julia is the BEST. Hands down, period! If you REALLY want to learn, she rules. The last poster obviously prefers lame lecture hall 'just enough to get by' classes. Explains topics to target every learning style. + she gets a chili for having a heart of gold.
Julia is a brilliant teacher. I took 201 and 202 with her. She is very thorough so prepare to be challenged! She puts so much into her classes and provides TONS of learning tools, anmiations, power points ect. Julia is the BEST. We love her!
She is confusing. Takes a month to grade exams. Her exam questions are unclear and confusing. Possibly one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Takes way too long on lectures all to just confuse you.
I'm not sure Julia even understands the material she covers the way she teaches it. She is a very confusing. Her exam questions confuse you and make you think they belong to another answer. I don't think she should be the head of the department at d.v. because of how unclear and unprepared she is.
Had to speak up. I took Julia for BIO 201/202. She is an awesome teacher. Maybe the last 2 posters need to learn something about DEDICATION. If you paid 1/2 attention instead of texting all day you MIGHT understand something (doubt it). Ask ANY us (her past successful students) how good she is. Nuff said. Have fun in basket weaving losers.
Julia was the best teacher i have had for bio 201/202. she takes the time to explain things so that you can understand them. if you take the time to listen and be in class you have no problem passing the class. she is a great teacher she knows her stuff very well.
gives too much work and hard to do on time. Doesn't submit work online until the last minute making it harder on the students. doesn't allow students to do hands on mostly lecture
she is great!!!
I am so happy i chose Ms. Julia for biology. She is extremely thorough. Very helpful and knows exactly what she is talking about. Just pay attention and do the work and you will be fine. She is wonderful and i cant wait to take her for bio 201/202. I absolutely recommend her for all of biology.
she makes the class sound harder then it is, you do not use real life anatomy in this class only models that's what i didnt like, other than that she is crystal clear and goes at a pace where all of the material is understandable, take your own notes instead of the handouts she deals out, then compare the two before the exam it helps
Julia is a great lecturer. That being said, I still hate her class. The exams and lab practicals are ridiculous. I am a smart student, yet I spent 4-6 hours a NIGHT preparing for this class. I will be LUCKY to scrape a B, though I am currently sitting at a 73% Hardest Class Ever.
Yes...tough class. But Excellent teacher, great tools and animations to help you learn. You SHOULD spend hours each day for this class.Bet you she spends more time prepping. Duh..Anatomy & Phys IS tough. If you're going to whine about the studying then go get a Gen Ed degree and don't be my nurse.
Anatomy & Physiology is of personal interest to me, & I was very disappointed after taking Julia's class. I've spent countless hours every week preparing for her class & her exams. Her expectations for her lecture exams are sometimes unreachable & her helpfulness is not what it should be for the intensity of this class. I wouldn't recommend Julia.
I WOULD NOT suggest Julia Fiello. Very unhelpful instructor, you will spend many hours preparing for this class only to find out you're not doing well. Class average for exams was EXTREMELY low through the entire semester.
Does not help, even during office hours. Always seems like shes in a hurry. Does her own HW in class, and always looks pissed when someone asks questions. Her tests are also very hard and require a lot of studying the book. Wouldnt suggest her.
Great Teacher!!! This class is difficult but we have to learn the material for our future goals, like nursing, dental hygene, etc. If you ask for help she will help!! If you are dedicated to the class you should pass! Her exams are difficult but if you prepare with time you will do fine.
She is a excellent teacher! You need to go to class and work through the practice exams. She does a great job teaching you how to learn the material and the practice exams tell you what to really focus on. If you do this you'll get a B. If you want an A, turn in your case studies and finished porfolios on time. Don't stress late hmwrks (you'll see).
I attended Julia's 5 week course over the summer. True, the class was extremely difficult academic wise. As is should. Julia taught us the number one rule in life: Giving your all will result in success. Although challenging, she broke the material down and elaborated everything for anyone that isn't science savy. Awesome instructor!
this is a hard class not because of the teacher but because it is a&p she will teach you ALL the details, lots of memorization! Her tests are hard 12 pages 2-3hrs You need to invest a lot of time studying. She will tell you what to study but hey guess what its EVERYTHING she does not give specifics just somehow MEMORIZE EVERYTHING.
The course in general was difficult, lots of information to memorize. The teacher did a great job in breaking the information down into sections. The class is very time consuming when it comes to studying. There is much information to learn but she does a great job teaching the course 100%.
Amazing professor. Really knows how to teach. I worked seriously hard in her 201 and 202 classes and made A's in both....Learned so much. She gives you tons of interactive tools and PowerPoints. Loved this class. If you really want to learn Anatomy and Physio, it's a no brainer... Take Julia!
Julia was hard but if you studied what she told you to study you did great on the tests. She gives prior semester tests so you know what is on the test. I learned so much in her class!! She is THE BEST teacher for A & P especially if you are going into nursing! She is amazing! I got A's in both 201 & 202 and even got 102% on one test. Take her!
This class is very hard, yes. Julia seemed to be too busy for her students, even in office hours. The test were hard and if you dont have a lot of time dont take this class.I would not recommed her.
Julie is a phenomenal teacher! This class is VERY difficult, so if you don't have the time to study, don't take it. She demands a lot from her students, and if you are willing to put the time in, you will do well. She is a very caring, patient, and understanding teacher. I HIGHLY recommend her, as long as you are willing to put in the time needed.
I am currently taking 201/202 accelerated. Hard class? YES! Julia is an excellent teacher and if it were not for her teaching style I would have not passed these courses. If you want to LEARN A&P then take Julia. If you are looking for a easy A....move on.If she can teach this to my old/crusty behind then she can teach anyone.I loved her dedication
Julia is a very helpful, knowledgeable and experienced instructor. Her tests are VERY hard but she grades them fairly. I learned a lot in her classes, but I had to study a lot every single day. Julia's classes require dedication and hard work.
I you do what she ask, you will be successful.
Always in a hurry If you email her good luck on her getting back to you in a timely manner Does not like being interrupted while she is giving lecture She also talks down to students post info an lectures last minute so you have to check all day to see if anything new posted She gives a lot of busy work which means Less study time for test
I took Julia for the 16 week Bio201 class and followed her to her accelerated 202 5 week summer class because I loved her teaching so much. The rumors are true her class is difficult you defiantly have to work for your grade. She is a dedicated teacher with high expectations if you want to do well in her class you have to put in the time and effort
Julia is an amazing instructor with high standards for her students if your willing to challenge and push yourself everyday take her class. If your looking for an easy class your only cheating yourself out of this opportunity to genuinely learn the material.
I took BIO 202 5 week class over the summer. If you decide to take the 5 week course be prepared to live and breath physiology. It is intense, but you will learn so much. There is literally no time for anything else but this course. Tests and lab practicals are weekly. Go for it if you have the time.
GREAT instructor! Just took her 5 week summer class & loved her teaching style. She really makes you think and you HAVE to be on top of your work in order to do well. Study, study, study because she has a lot of essay questions but it wasn't bad at all. Highly suggest her for BIO 201 & 202 if you're going into nursing.
Just a flat out outstanding, master teacher. TOUGH and rigorous but if you want to really learn Physio, there's none better. Be a doctor, nurse, whatever. Take this teacher.
I took this class online and it was a breeze. There are 3 quizzes that you can take up 5 times each for full credit. She'll email you the powerpointclass notes to take the exams. They were pretty clear. The final exam is what can get you, so study up! Don't expect her to round your grade up either. I was on the cusp. Easy class though.
I took the five week summer course, it is a great class and Julia is a wonderful instructor. However, be prepared to have a lot of homework and material you need to digest. It is a very intense class, but Julia makes everything clear, making things a little easier. Tests are hard and long, you need to study beforehand. Otherwise, I'd take her again
Julia Fiello is without hesitation the best teacher I have ever had. But do not expect A&P to be easy- it's really hard. But her assignments actually help, she makes the long lectures fun and she explains things in a way that will make you remember it. You know exactly what to expect on exams and there is some extra credit. Completely worth it.
Awesome teacher! Took her for both A&P classes. Very informative and helpful. Homework is easy but time consuming, but there's about one or two assignments every class period. Textbook only used for diagrams on homework. Tests are hard but if you pay attention and use lab time, they aren't bad. Would definitely recommend her :)
This teacher gives homework and quizzes the day before big exams. Expect a lot of busy work. Lectures on material start in the middle of place and a different subject next and goes back to finish up days later. Am a friend to the masses take a different route than this one.
Avoid being known, keep your head down and you will pass. Speak when spoken to, live and breathe this class and you will pass. She explains everything very clearly but test mainly essays; they take about two to three hours to complete and open for interpretation if it is not actually what she wants it will be marked wrong.
There is no doubt Julia knows what she is talking about. She teaches & grades at a University level but this is an upper level class so it's expected. She emails back same day. I have no doubt that taking her has taught me more than other teachers could have. Tests are LONG & homework is easy. She tells you everything you need to know for the test!
Excellent teacher. This is by far one of the best teachers I've ever had. She knows everything extremely well. Her logic is impeccable. I have nothing else to say other than great things about this teacher. I am proud I got a B in Patho. It really was difficult class, she made it enjoyable.
Professor Fiello teaches in a way that helps you remember the material by critically thinking your way through the disease processes. This class is NOT easy and I had to take it twice and her way of lecturing was very effective. I am doing better than some of my friends because I was taught how to critically think before I got in nursing school.
I took the 8wk course with Julia and it was pretty tough. Julia is a great teacher but goes fast. There's a ton of anatomy memorization but you also need to understand many intense physiology concepts that might be completely new to you. Must focus, print lectures and hw on time, take notes, record videos, go to tutoring and study hard!
Honestly, Julia is one of the best teachers I have ever had! She KNOWS HER STUFF and she always explains things very clearly. The tests are hard and there is a lot of short answers and essay questions but it's nothing she hasn't went over in class. She doesn't try to trick you and you know exactly what you should study for. Highly recommend her!
Julia is the best instructor at this campus hands down! I started taking someone else - I do not recommend the other day teacher last name with G - but switched to Julia. And I'm so glad I did! She is clear and consistent in class, and helpful and patience outside of class. I didn't think I was a bio person but thanks to her, it's now my fav!
I took the 8-week option and let me tell you this isn't one of those classes where 8 weeks mean less material is covered. Be prepared to study and study well. The tests are difficult and complex but she is an excellent lecturer and gives practice tests so you know what will be on the written tests. Don't skip lecture!
It's anatomy and physiology so you know you what you are getting yourself into. Professor Fiello is tough but she is very clear about her expectations and provides everything a student needs to finish the class with an A. Attend all lectures and get in a study group.
I took both BIo201 and Bio202 8 week classes and they were one of the most difficult things I have ever done. Be prepared to join study groups and spend significant about of time studying and learning concepts. I learned more then I could ever hope to have learned.
Hands down the best instructor I've ever had, and I plan to take every course taught by her!
I did Fiello's 8 week class. She is a great teacher, and she teaches you everything you need to know for her exams through her notes and labs. From day 1, it was extremely helpful to join study groups. Her exams were really tough but show up everyday for lectures and study a lot, you can pass. It also really helps to stay ahead on labs and lecture.
J is the best professor out there! I took her for Bio 202 5 week course during the summer. HARD CLASS but if you study and go to class (she is amazing at explaining things you will be fine!! pay attention to the pictures she draws on the board, they are always on the test!!! have fun you will love it!!!
She is a good instructor. Yet you should consider that accelerated courses are extremely hard. I dropped her class before I failed because that's where I was headed. I would take her class again because I enjoyed her lectures but I wouldn't feel confident that I will do good. One thing I Didn't like were her powerpionts they confused me.
It was an interesting class to take. She sends you powerpoint presentations that you need to study for the next quiz. There are 3 quizzes total that you can take up to 3 times each for full credit. I highly suggest you use other websites or books to help you study for the class. The final exam accounts for up to 90% of your grade.
Keep in mind if taking accelerated it is a very demanding class. Watch your other time commitments beyond this class so you can pass. Will walk away with a solid foundation and Fiello is great at lecture, but this class will demand so much out of you. Go to the lab time to study, record lectures and re-listen to them as much as you can.
Go into this class strong, people stress so much and have to drop when the first tests don't go well. KNOW that this is a hard demanding class and commit yourself to excelling from the beginning. Prepare yourself for this class, know it will be tough and start off on the right foot so you can pass.
My other classes at Pima did not prepare me for the UofA like Mrs. Fiello's class did. I can assure you that exposure to hard tests like hers will set you up for success later. If youre thinking of getting a science degree from the UofA or applying for nursing school, it would behove you to take her class. You'll be thankful you did.
I would have had an A except that there are 4 proctored exams and I do not do well with proctored exams. I stated this to the professor and she brushed me off. You will need to memorize tons of information that is useless unless you are a health major. If I did not need this class for my major, I never would have taken it.
I had friends that took BIO201 and BIO202 at other schools and did not have anywhere close to the same experience I did in this class. Get ready for tests that take HOURS to finish. They are all essay and true / false but you have to correct the false ones. It is taught at a way higher level then a community college class should be taught.
Julia emphasizes critical thinking and reminds us of how important it is from day one. The class is flooded with info, and is similar to how a nursing course will be. Learn your learning style and how to critically think! If you get the big picture and are able to put the pieces together, you're solid. I feel more prepared for nursing school, thx!
She goes fast when lecturing that the only way is to record them. She throws out too much info at you & expects you to know it all for one exam. She doesnt give study guides, and when you ask her what to study she says what I spend a great deal amount of time on in class so you end up studying a bunch of crap that most of wont be on the exam
Her lectures are too much to take in especially the power points. She can be rude and not helpful when it comes to whats gonna be on the exam. I passed by her computer when she was grading & everyone in the class had Ds and Fs. Only a couple with As and Bs. Absolutely the worst teacher and experience I ever had at Pima. I do NOT recommend her
Taking Julia's class prior to nursing school really set me up for success. Her class is hard, be cautious of other commitments, but I promise you, it will pay off for you. PLEASE take a good A & P teacher if you are going into nursing, I promise you that you will be glad you did. I wish all my professors were as brilliant as Julia.
Ms. Fiello was my first BIO instructor and she made things enjoyable. I appreciate her discussions based on current A&P topics. She is a positive teacher and I would take her for BIO156 if she taught it next semester and I would take her BIO201/202 if they weren't 8 week sessions. Take her class! She's a great teacher.
Julie Is the best teacher I've had in my 10 years at pima! If you have to take Biology courses be sure to take them with Julie. Regardless of who you take Bio 201/202 is not an easy course. Anatomy and Physiology 2 CLASSES in 1. Do not take a full load when taking these classes. She takes the time to walk through difficult step by step processes.
DON'T TAKE. She opened the class early and I felt behind the whole semester even though I started working on the first day. Her announcements are confusing each week. The course is basically alot of quizzes. If I have to take the class again, I will avoid fiello at all costs.
Class is not mandatory but iMO if you don't show up you wont pass the class. The accel class goes really fast, I would definitely recommend recording her lectures video if possible whatever she puts on the board she will test you on! I survived by recording and re watching lectures. Power points are KEY, these are also test heavy areas also Essays!
Julia was my teacher for Bio 201 and Bio 201 accel classes. I love how she does take her time to explain and re-explian things step by step with drawings. She has a good pronunciation and speaks clearly which helps a lot to understand the class. I enjoyed having her as my teacher for 201 and thats why I chose her for 202. Helps you w/ questions!!!
The best advice I have is to treat the course like signing up for a part-time job. If you aren't able to dedicate a lot of your time to studying, you WILL NOT do well. Julia is incredibly intelligent, cares about her students, and prepares you for your future in healthcare. She is an exceptional teacher and gives you everything you need to do well.
I barely started her 8 week class for A&P, things are already going downhill. The list for memorization is super long and ridiculous. She always seems in a hurry, and she expects you to know everything off the bat. There's too much info to process even for an advanced class. The homework takes up your life honestly I'm not sure that I will do well.
I took the 8 week class. It is super fast paced and you have homework every day. If you do not stay a day or 2 ahead in homework, you'll most likely fall behind. I got A and B in all exams, and when I wasn't working on assignments, I was reviewing lectures and quizzing myself with anatomy. Try to make it your only class! Its not that bad!
This is not an easy class, but she made it more bearable. Her explanations are very clear. Overall, I liked this class.
Took this online, she provides the reading/study material so you study it and then take a quiz. Honestly, not hard. It was an 8 week course and I finished it in 2 weeks. She is very responsive and will answer any questions you have. Highly recommend.
I work in the CVICU as a RN. The amount of effort she puts in her lectures and tests prepared me to become a safer and knowledgable nurse. She makes you understand and she helps you with your critical thinking skills. Do not take her if you want an easy A. But if actually want to learn something and become a safer nurse, I recommend taking her.
HORRIBLE class and teacher. Materials are disorganized, lectures are painful, quizzes are tricky, slow to respond to requests for help. DO NOT TAKE. Even if she is the only one. Wait until you can take someone else.
Its an extremely intense course so you need to be able to dedicate a ton of time to studying. Id recommend taking this as your only class! Julia is a wonderful instructor and wants her students to succeed. But since its such a tough course, she expects a lot out of her students. Take this class with Julia, as long as youre ready to study!
Took an accelerated online course. She provides material for each section which you study then take a quiz before moving on to the next. Information was clear and easy to understand. Quizzes did differ in structure from final. Was attentive and sent email reminders if deadline was approaching for a test.
DON'T DO IT. Take course alone or choose a different professor. Easy work but no study guide is provided for the Exam, which is a big percentage of your grade. So much material you are going over with no guidelines on what to actually study for and only like 5% of it to be on the exam. All while starting a new module while preparing for an exam.
Incredible professor!!! If you want to actually have a solid and background in physiology, she is the professor for you. The class does require work to be put into it, an easy A with minimal effort won't happen. You won't be staring at a textbook for hours on end, great lectures/videos are the main format and it's SO MUCH better than a textbook.
Her exams are 80% of the grade covering 10 chapters a piece. The homework and lectures alone are a FULL time commitment, no time to study! The lectures are around 6 hours a week. She is not lenient, she will not curve grades. I don't recommend taking it with other courses or if you don't excel at exams. I wouldn't recommend taking BIO218 with her.
Professor Fiello was a terrible teacher! Her final was worth 90% of your final grade. Her homework takes about 6 hours to complete. The final was 45 written questions, No Where in the syllabus mentioned that! A good teacher would have provided written quizzes so that when students see the final they won't be shocked. It was the worst class ever!
This was the worst classroom experience I've ever had, so much that I will not be returning to Pima to finish remaining courses. Her website was a full mess, quiz questions were literally blank, she was slow plus unhelpful, the "optional" resources were expensive, I could go on. If you are unlucky enough to take her, have supervisor's email ready!
MOST disorganized class I have taken. Deadlines all over the place. Important directions missing. Additional resources thrown in without any context. Some weeks had regular quizzes plus assignment quizzes, no idea why we need both. Also the teaching style of the instructor was minimal and she did not have an ability to convey the material clearly.
This was a pretty intensive class with a lot of information to remember, but the professor gives you plenty of resources to help you study and understand the material. Her lectures are fantastic and she even has recorded versions so you can go back and listen to them again if you need to. I would definitely recommend this class!
She was super helpful in giving feedback and she graded relatively fast.
80% of the grade was based on tests. Everyone failed the first exam. By the end of the semester, only 5 out of about 30 people were actively in the class. The material that was useful to study was the PowerPoints, the discussion boards, and the sample tests... and that's pretty much it. There is a tutor in the class that can help people out.
Lessons, assignments, and their directions are very disorganized. It seems almost impossible to navigate the course layout. Instructions are cryptic and not straight forward and are often found in a different link somewhere in d2l. Simply finding where things ARE is the most difficult things about this course and the semester has just started.
Very notes heavy class, but that is expected for A & P. Online modules are well-organized and homework is due on a consistent schedule each week. Not much time to study for exams though, as you're expected to start new lessions concurrently. Useful info, engaging homework, responded to emails quickly and was sympathetic when I had tech problems.
This professor was not worth the time and effort I put into this class. She expects everything to be perfect and written her way. She provides quizzes that only explain so much and with each attempt, variation in questions is non-existent. 2/10 for me.
Fiello's online teaching method is a little unorthodox, and sometimes she takes points away for things that were not clearly expressed in the assignment directions or rubric. That being said, you can resubmit your work for full points (before the due date), making changes according to her feedback. Pretty easy class, just do the work and study.
Best professor I have ever had. I would definitely take her class again. She likes to get everyone involved. You will have homework weekly, but due dates are clearly marked.
Wonderful professor and would take again. She is very fair and wants you to succeed.
Nice lady overall, this is a hard course, understandably. But she does not teach it well; she constantly contradicts herself in lecture, making it very hard to grasp the information. I took this class online since she could not teach in person due to medical reasons. Don't take her if you can help it. Made me question if I actually enjoyed science.
DO NOT take! This teacher made this class horrible! I love science and will continue to, but she is actually a very MEAN teacher. She does not applaud for you when you're correct, and she does not cheer on her students. She's very picky and chooses the students she likes. I cried every day after this class. She's horrible.
very difficult calss and a very mean teacher
