This class is so well structured. The instructions are very clear. Her power points are extremely helpful and walk you through the hardest formulas step by step. She is very helpful, always responds quickly to emails, understanding and provides lots of feedback. She also provides the opportunity of extra credit - take advantage of it.
Professor Parker is the best, her syllabus is so clear and in perfect order, she does give a lot of weekly assignments but if you stay organized you'll do fine. It's all on the power points and is not a difficult class mainly because she explains everything clearly and she does respond to her emails super fast! I highly recommend her.
Class was fairly easy but you have to keep up. There are discussions due every other week which also requires a response. There are quizzes every other week as well. She provided a great review for the final. One thing that really irritated me is she asks for your opinion on some of the discussions but penalizes you she (the assistant) disagrees.
Listen to her online lectures, read the text, study, and interact in the discussion board and you'll do great! I would definitively take her again, but I'm graduating... Awesome course and phenomenal professor! Take her you'll have no regrets.
I just took this professor for an accelerated online course and I was honestly super nervous. It was a quiz each week and every other week a discussion board question and peer response, for 8 weeks. Her lectures are interesting and she does a great job at explaining the material, which I found extremely interesting.
If you can take someone else do it exams, are extremely unclear and difficult.
She is a tough grader. There are weekly discussions where you HAVE to disagree with another classmate, which I think is unnecessary and points are taken off if you don't do that. She also takes points off for even the slightest reuse of any statements from her powerpoints in the discussions. Her powerpoints are useful in the quizzes.
Dr. Parker is a great teacher. She was very knowledgeable and kind. We had: -3 test then final (she provides study guides) -Online lectures very easy -In class activity every class (very easy done in groups) -1 group project (in group very easy) -Textbook needed for additional info not covered in lectures -Available by email and outside of class
Very tough grader. If you want an easy A don't take her.
She looks so nice, but at the end you might regret because she is so tough at grading. If you want an easy A please don't take her.
Professor Parker is absolutely amazing! Period. Her syllabus is straight to the point. She genuinely cares for her students and is very knowledgeable. Her class is extremely interactive so attendance is a must. Show up to class, put in the work, easy A. You won't regret it!!
She's so nice. She's a great professor take her you will not regret.
I took this course over the summer, which explains that lecture heavy material in a limited time; Dr. Parker does explain the material in a way that you are able to understand, practice problems( step by step) in class. I- Clicker questions for participation. Group written discussions. Papers (2) are not difficult to write up follow the examples.
Im glad I took her course because I've learned a lot from her. She does expect careful reading and a deep level of understanding from her students. If you want an easy A, don't take this class. If you want to learn the subject well, by all means take it. She does a great job at teaching and really puts time into her lectures.
I LOVE HER! Shes very clear on everything from the very first day. There is no way you can miss a step if you're on top of your work. You cannot slack at all, that's for sure. Her powerpoint presentations online are VITAL.
Professor Parker is a good teacher. The issue I had with this class is she is an extremely tough grader. You can do super well on the exam but if you do not do as good on a paper or group assignment, your grade WILL be hurt. She is nice and all and knows the material very well, but I just feel like her way of grading is too extreme. Not an easy A.
You know exactly what's expected of you from the beginning. Professor talks very fast- hardly can understand; class is super boring; felt like high school; 4 tests are the only thing you need to worry about and she gives a good study guide which sometimes has terms only found in book. Overall easy class with little effort needed. Go to class!!!
She's an amazing teacher and makes lecture super fun. You have to do guided questions and take an Orion test and after class test each week, and you do an in class activity. If you don't show up, you'll get a zero on half of those things. She's super nice and replies quick to emails. You can tell she loves what she's teaching.
She uses iclickers for participation on the readings. Really easy class. Homework every week. Guiding questions are hand written.
This class will be extremely easy if you study, however, if you don't study you won't pass. Dr. Parker is an extremely understanding professor, and she is extremely knowledgeable. Her lectures are filled with information, which makes the class extremely interesting.
She talks fast, she's sweet every class theres Iclickers and group assignments so you have to go to class unless you want to damage your grade and believe me it does. You have two papers but she's easy.
Really great class! I had a hybrid course and I am most likely ending with an A in class when I never thought that would happen. All you need to do is the homework and quizzes in order to get a good grade. And the homework she gives really helps studying with the test. Shes also super nice. Highly recommend
There really is no reason not to pass her class unless you do absolutely nothing. Her exams are so straightforward, no trick questions. The smartbook assignments are a little time consuming but it helps because at the end of them you feel confident that you know the information from the current chapter. Amazing professor.
I was pleased to take this course with Professor Parker. I was very worried for this class but taking this course with her was the best! The course was hybrid - that may sound intimating but it is manageable. Do find reliable group members, be on top of the work and you will be fine. ALWAYS READ THE POWERPOINTS!!! Don't recommend the book.
She is a good professor but the class is very difficult. I wouldn't recommend her hybrid course. There is so much homework and you have to read extensively before every class. If you don't study you will not pass.
Amazing professor, all you have to do is show up to class once a week. Also, make sure you do the online homework, it might seem a lot at first but you'll get used to it. 4 exams and a final, all easy to pass if you did the homework. Trust me if you do the homework and try to at least understand it you'll be fine. also gives a lot of extra credit.
She is the biggest sweetheart ever, I would take her again 100 times. I have never enjoyed a class more. Even though this wasnt an easy A and I had to really work for it, I really appreciate her and her teaching. She is a super motivational, caring for her students, and overall a great professor. She made the hardest formula look like cake!
She is the best. I took her for summer and every week we had a paper. But super easy. I would take her again. She gave al the end like 40 points for extracredit.
Dr. Parker is the sweetest professor I ever had. She knows what she's talking about and explains statistics in a way that everyone can understand. She care about the materials and the students. easy iclicker every class, extra credit opportunities, the assignments are basic and explained clearly. very interesting powerpoints.
A great professor, definitely one of the best. She really knows how to teach and gives understandable lectures. The requirements are very clear, no surprises and extra credit may be offered. Uses iclickers but the answers are in the material if you read the powerpoints. Take this professor and you will not only learn a lot but enjoy it as well.
I have never done more homework in my life.
You do have to go to class because she takes attendance with your group assignments but her lectures are really interesting. I could listen to her talk all day! Short video lectures for homework 4-10min some are like 20min. Easy. Interesting. She's really flexible and caring 10/10 would take her again!!! TAKE HER. SO SWEET.
She is great. Very smart and very caring. There were a lot of iclicker quizzes and homework assignments but they aren't too bad. They do help your grade, they can just sometimes be annoying haha. Lots of group work too. Overall I recommend because she does not make it hard to pass and I actually learned a lot from this class.
Show up and do the clicker questions, do your homework on time and participate in credit for an easy A.
Dr. Parker is amazing! I am taking her online and almost feel like I am taking her in person. She is so accessible and caring, she wants you to pass. The way the class is structured is made for you to pass. Individual assignments and pause problems due every week as well as discussions but if you do it all with a timely fashion is more than double
Dr. Parker is probably the most compassionate professor I have ever had. She understands that the course is a difficult chunk to swallow, but is ready for everyone's questions and feedback. She knows how to level wit her students and is super accessible. Our classes spontaneously switch to remote learning, yet her performance was flawless.
This class is hard but Dr. Parker makes it manageable. Assignments help give you a clear understanding of the material and she gives great feedback. She knows this is a difficult class and sets you up for success. She is a tough grader because she has to be. Lots of extra credit opportunities. You can truly tell she wants you to succeed.
RM1 online was a breeze with her. Amazing detailed PPs, textbook not needed. 1 weekly assgt. & 1 discussion w/reply. 1 major paper and 1 journal summary. Replies to email quickly. 6 exams, drops the lowest. Lots of extra credit. Ended class with a 101%, but I really worked for it. You have to read the PPs to understand and pass with a high A.
Mrs. Parker is the sweetest professor I've ever had. If you're truly in a bind, she'll extend deadlines, and she really wants you to learn the material. The material was easy to digest, and she reviews it when you meet in class again to make sure you know it. She was super nice when we had to transition to fully online classes because of the virus.
She's really patient. I respect how she thoroughly teaches the material. She's a very likable teacher.
This was my first psychology class and I really enjoyed it. If you want to pass, you need to put in the work by reading the textbook & online PDF's as well as completing the homework. There is a lot of reading outside of class but it pays off when you take the exam. She answers emails very quickly and accommodates her students when necessary.
She is lovely and cares so much for her students. She is very compassionate and will let you turn in a late assignment if you have a good explanation.
AMAZING!! My first psychology class was with her and I had a great experience. Super passionate about the topic and always makes the class interesting.
Dr. Parker is great! I'm usually not the best at anything math related so the fact that I got an A in her class really speaks volumes. She is very thorough, maybe too thorough sometimes, but it doesn't hurt! Pay attention to deadlines and watch all lecture videos and you should do well. The group discussions are a little annoying but it's tolerable
I enjoyed every moment in her class. Its an easy A really easy A. Its no way you can fail her class. Shes super sweet and loving . Best teacher ever !
RM1 sounds scary but Dr. Parker really is there to get you through it. Shes committed to ensuring that her students understand the material & provides multiple resources for assistance. Some say she gives a lot of work (its 1 reading & 2 assignments due per week) but it really takes no more than 1-3 hours of your time & IT HELPS YOU! Take her!!
Due to the pandemic, this class was remote. She's very sweet and compassionate about what she teaches. She records her lectures, which you can go back to see the powerpoint slides. There's "in-class" assignments every week, 3 tests & a final. However, she does gives out study guides which everything is on the test. Easy class, I recommend her!
This class is easier than I thought it would be and prof. Parker makes it great. she's very caring and offers a decent amount of extra credit. exams are not cumulative and are very manageable. if you have the opportunity to take her for RM1 do so!!! Her powerpoints are super detailed so the book isn't really necessary
1 short paper, 1 abstract assignment (Easy). 2 assignments a week. Very easy and simple. Lessons are short and intuitive. Great experience for remote learning. Professor Parker goes the distance to make sure you understand the subject and I really recommend her. No stress at all. some pop quizzes and chances for extra credit!
Dr. Parker is an excellent professor. I have learned so much in this course. There was not a moment where I fell behind in this class. She is very understanding, thoughtful, and passionate in her profession. I enjoyed this course and I am sad to see it come to an end. I definitely recommend this professor and course and I would 100% take it again.
Amazing professor and very easy tests and class work. She is very understanding and provides multiple extra credit opportunities. 10/10 recommended!
Such an amazing professor!! Guiding Questions on the chapter before every class. Super thorough lectures + polls + in class group assignments which really ensures you understand the material. InQuizitives almost every week. Only 5 "quizzes" and one final. Overall, might seem like a lot but super easy. No reason for anyone to fail. Truly the best!!
The course itself is not easy, assignments are due every week (post class and pre class assignments) as well as papers and exams but professor Parker's lectures makes the material easy to understand. Pre class is graded on effort and exams are straight from the powerpoints. Would definitely take again
I took her class for research methods 1 and I LOVED HER! She gives preclass assignments based on that weeks chapter which is graded on effort and then a post class assignment after her amazing lectures where she teaches you step by step how to do everything. She replies to emails quickly and lots of extra credit.
Beware she speaks very fast, but she's very fair and she truly cares about her students. However, this is not an easy A class. She assigns a lot that requires you to actually study. Sometimes she assigns three things due on the same day so DON'T PROCRASTINATE! Test were open book. Honestly just read her powerpoints. Textbook not needed!
Such a gem! Caring about her students and makes class so fun! Please take her, you will not regret it. Also if you need help outside of class she will help. There is a lot of work but it does get you prepared to the final exam.
I cannot rave enough about Dr. Parker. I am finishing up with her right now and she has been my best professor thus far. Stat previously made me queasy -- she makes it enjoyable. Her video lectures are great. She is very clear, thorough, understanding and caring. She also offers an extra credit point weekly which adds up! I WISH she taught Methods2
I love Dr. Parker. She has amazing energy and is a great teacher. She goes over the course material thoroughly and dont be afraid to ask questions during class. The content is difficult, but thats because this course is just a tough one, no matter who teaches it. Weekly assignments, frequent exams, and one paper and an abstract is what we did.
Taking Parker for Psychology was the best decision Ive made, you cant go wrong choosing here. Super kind, fun, and always open to any questions. Class was a breeze and I was able to learn a ton! Her lectures are engaging and have active participation. If youre a psych major you can ask her about the career and shell be open to helping you out!
she was a great professor and learned a lot.
Dr. Parker is a gem! LOTS of work but is manageable and becomes easier with feedback. I wish I could take her for every class.
Parker was an amazing prof! She made psychology much easier to understand, was a very fair grader and always made sure to offer her students help. She's fairly caring and understanding, and makes her lectures very interactive/ engaging. Her homework, while a bit time consuming once started, was relatively easy and not a lot. 10/10 class!
Her TA & LA will help you understand the material. Don't be afraid of the pop quiz. It's common knowledge. Pay attn if she repeats, its on the test . I wouldn't miss a lecture because she explains things well. great prof ! I am not the best at stats & passed with over 100%. Take Her
So much I could say about Dr. Parker. Havent even finished the course but needed to rate. I never understood stats until now. She wants you to pass. Extra credit options. Videos explaining equations. Ive messaged her about 6 times in this course for help on various stuff & she responds so quickly & enthusiastically. Take PSY3211 w/ Dr. Parker!!
Dr. Parker is an amazing RM teacher. If you see an available class with her and you struggle with statistics, pick it, you wont regret it. Even if you do a little bad on the assignments, she gives a lot of easy extra credit opportunities and pre-class to help your grade. She's super sweet, lectures are short and concise. I have an A in the class rn
This class is a bit tedious but its so easy. Attendance is mandatory as she will use in class assignments to grade ur attendance. She is amazing and very knowledgeable. Easy pass. No matter what she says you do not need the textbook all you need is her lectures. Also she doesn't post powerpoints so be sure to take notes in class.
She was a good professor but I just took her this semester and beware!!!!!!! she will be adding papers to exams, making it x10 harder. drop her if u can so youre gpa doesnt blow up by surprise. regret taking her. She said she would be changing her course curriculum 2022, drop her while u can
Great professor, definitely take her for methods 1. 6 exams but they're open notes and her powerpoints are very clear. Just take notes before class, pay attention during her lectures, and you'll do fine.
Dr. Parker is an knowledgeable and amazing professor. There are many opportunities to earn extra credit and her lectures help make the tricky material easier to understand. Honestly, if you put in the effort, do the work, and ask for help when need there is no reason to fail this class. Take this class with her and you will not be disappointed.
RM1: Very clear lectures, super understanding/accommodating... Material itself can get a bit confusing but she gives gr8 resources (PPT). Textbook not necessary, but you can expect 6 exams, pre&post class assignments, SONA, and research critique & abstract writing papers. She drops the lowest of everything... Love her! (Gives lots of extra credit)
Lots of resources and extra credit, no proctored exams. RM1 is not an easy class but this professor makes it better
Best professor Ive had at FIU. So knowledgeable and kind. Amazing teaching style, powerpoints, lectures, and assignments that will help you succeed.
Great professor, but she wants to make sure you learn be ready to give this class effort. she is very helpful and her tests, if you study through the study guide, are easy As. just gotta put it the effort.
Parker is an amazing teacher, but her content was so hard for this class. she also talks really fast so if you're not a fast thinker or listener I don't recommend her. tons and tons of homework, effort needed, def not an easy A. Parker won't let you off the hook easy, she is the type to challenge, bu t she will def help you get there and teach lots
Amazing professor. The study guides are the key to the tests, study and you will ace them. Play Posits were simple in the hybrid class. Do not take her if you do now want to study or work for your grade. Overall, one of the best professors I've ever had at FIU.
She's AWESOME! Has guiding questions to do before class. Has in-class assignments you work with groups, but lectures are interactive. Then has inquisitive (kinda like a game) and are easy to follow and helps with repetition and practice. Has 3 exams and one final. She's understanding, helpful and provides a lot of resources with LA's. Do the work
Professor Parker is one of the best, if not the best professors I have taken at FIU. Her class structure is clear and you have more than enough time to do the work assigned. The powerpoints have all of the information you need. I didn't use the textbook at all. 2 assignments a week with days to complete each. All exams open note and open book.
Would not recommend to someone who is taking a lot of classes or is busy in general. As a teacher, she's okay. Tough grader. For exams, you cannot see what you got wrong. Office hours is over zoom, which is inconvenient. Attendance is mandatory sadly. Only good thing is that there is extra credit at the end of class so you won't really fail
You have 10-20 questions a week and you write them from a book, upload the pics, then do a weekly test(infinite tries) on the week subject, rinse and repeat for 3 weeks. She's super nice and fun, a bit rough on late assignments so stay on top of your stuff and be sure to be there because you have important points just from being there. 10/10
The workload of this class isn't overbearing nor hard, though I wouldn't recommend taking this class if you have a busy class schedule. You have to study for her exams using the study guides you do for homework if you want the A. Other than that, she's a very nice professor, caring and understanding.
I really liked her, she teaches really well. We do have four exams, but I don't mind because it divides all the material, therefore it actually makes the exam pretty easy. gives a normal amount of work. You don't really need your textbook. I really recommend her!
Dr. Parker is really nice but if you're a hands on learner this isn't the class for you. She requires a lot but doesn't really teach the material as I expected since its a STATS course. This class is hard and you need to pay attention a lot to understand but I had to work hard for my grade.
As a professor, she is stellar. She's tough because she wants you to learn, not because she wants you to fail. She is really sweet and understanding, but if you can't handle a lot of work, then don't take her yet. I definitely recommend her for this credit, but make sure you're mentally prepared for the workload if you struggle with assignments.
She is one of the best lecturers I've had. Psych Methods 1 can be a complicated, but she paces it out really well. She never gets tired of giving feedback and helping out on homework or in-class assignments. The lectures are straightforward making the material easy to understand and remember. Do the work, go to office hours and you'll get an A.
Prof Parker is so well spoken and clear with her expectations, there is no way to be lost in her class. She had a total of three exams and one final exam along with some online activities and assignments during every lecture. She gives us great examples of what she is teaching and allows us to ask questions. Hard subject, but good teacher.
Professor Parker is a nice lady although this class is NOT an easy course so be prepared to focus from beginning to end. She teaches too fast & has her TA grade some papers who does not give you an accurate score (sucks we have no choice but to risk another person judge our grade who is not our professor) Stressful class. only good thing is the EC.
Professor Parker was awesome. There are 3 tests and a final. If you do well on the first two tests you do not need to take the third test, you would just have to come to the final. She drops the lowest grade of every category, including attendance so essentially you have a free day, should you have to miss class one day.She is an awesome professor
One of the best professors I have had, and her lectures are interesting and captivating. Her homework might seem much, but it is really easy to find it in the textbook. 3 weekly assignments total, 3 tests, and one final. Tests are easy if you study. Love the way she captivated everyone and how she taught. IClicker and textbook is a MUST.
Very tough grader. Know all your material before class. She is very nice and you have a lot of attempts to raise your grade though. About 3 pop quizzes the whole semester but they are tricky so read careful. She uses iclickers during lecture as a attendance grade. Book isnt needed she makes powerpoints, but if you struggle with stats I suggest it.
prof parker was an amazing instructor. assignments weekly, few pop quizzes, participation thru iclickers which make the class very interactive to learn. tests are at home. gives great feedback and wants you to learn, I've never been good at math but the A I got in this class surprised me and it was thanks to her teaching methods. Take her!!
This was my first class with Professor Parker and I thoroughly enjoyed her. The class has weekly lectures you watch before class and then an in class assignment. There are 3 exams and a final exam. She is super sweet and her lectures are very compelling. She is easy to reach outside of class. Set yourself up early so finals time will be a breeze :)
I wish professor parker taught research 2!! she is amazing. I would say the only downside is the TA and the way they grade the work especially the article critique paper. On her part, she has very organized lectures and is very engaging with the class. If you can take her, please do.
I would never retake her classes, including Research Methods and Data Analysis. She is a harsh grader who does not leave comments when you do something wrong or try to ask for help; she gives you general advice that doesn't help at all. I don't recommend her at all.
Professor Parker is admirably smart. Inspirational.
Amazing professor. Attendance is mandatory but you can miss one day. You also need an iClicker for this class. Assignments every week, 6 exams in total, like 1 research paper, and SONA credits required. She made the topics really easy to understand and both she and the LAs were accessible outside of class if you needed extra help.
Best professor I've had. I actually learned a lot in her class. Exams are easy, there are a bunch of LA's who are always helpful. Homework was divided in 3, pre chapter activities, in-class, and an online program game. Absolutely enjoyed her class.
Great Professor! Her lectures are very info heavy but interactive and interesting. Provides guided notes which you can follow along in class(rec. record lecture). In-class assignments and the pre-class lecture play posits are straightforward and easy. Exams are hit or miss if you don't follow along and review (provides study guide). Love the class!
Dr Parker has been the best professor and I am so grateful to have taken her as one of my first classes in FIU. She gives easy homework, she gives study guides for exams that have to do with her lectures so they are important. There is 3 exams throughout the semester but once again everything is in the study guide. She is amazing and interactive.
I have to be subtle so just know this professor is the best you'll ever have. Very interactive and caring towards your health and success. Tests are based off of the notes ONLY, which she guides them for you. Multiple Learning Assistants to help you out as well (Shoutout Chris). Would take again without hesitation. Very fun class I'll miss it.
she was fantastic and assignments were enjoyable
Professor Parker is a great professor! The lectures are very straightforward and engaging. If you need any assistance, the professor and the learning assistants are there to help! Overall, this was a great class and learning environment!
Professor Parker is great and she makes classes very interesting.
Amazing teacher very easy class. La are great and funny. Class usually ends a bit early. Tests are super easy just do the study guide. Attendance is mandatory.
Summer; 3 quizzes, 1 final. Lowest quiz grade is dropped. I-clicker is needed for attendance/participation every day. Quiz 3 and final are on the same day if taken during the summer. Provides a study guide for the final. Overall a funny and very clear teacher on what is needed to pass.
Professor Parker is one of the best professors that I've taken at FIU! she's so helpful and caring and she made the class easy to understand. I love her lectures and how she is very engaging with everyone. Definitely take her!!
Before taking this class I saw her reviews on here and thought okay she will make this enjoyable as this course IS NOT EASY. I don't understand why she has such great reviews for this class. The LAs in the class were not helpful. The professor didn't teach much, she just read from the PowerPoint the entire time. I wouldn't recommend taking her.
great professor. 3 exams (one gets dropped) and a final. In class assignments every class and iclicker points (in c a were really easy and informational) you have to purchase the textbook to do some homwork but other than that the homeworks were actually helpful and the guided questions (hw) were EXACTLY like the exams. study the hw and youre good!
Professor Parker is an angel sent from heaven! She was amazing. I took this class in the summer and although I am not a huge fan of Psychology, she made lectures and class fun, which really changed my perspective on the subject. This class is an easy A, just do your homework and the group assignments! It's just like the exams. Lowest grade dropped!
This is the only professor you want for Research methods 1. She understands that psych students are terrible at math and that stats kills us. Extra credit is soma studies. I clickers count in class. Final exam lockdown browser in person but everything was covered and you can have a cheat sheet. Answers emails. 10000/10 second time taking her.
I loved professor Parker. She is accomodating, concise, and professional. She is knowledgeable and makes the material so easy to learn. She assigned 4 exams(including the final exam) and discussions after every class period. She uses iclicker to track attendance, but did not make it mandatory. Nothing too crazy, if you do your part you will excel.
I absolutely loved Dr. Parker for Intro to Psych. Her lectures were engaging and super interesting. Assignments were easy to follow and class has many opportunities for extra credit. Attendance is a grade so try not to miss too many classes. Overall, this class was great!
3 exams + a final. Lots of homework that helps your grade, ALOT of extra credit is offered and she is super sweet and caring.
If you are up to research, Professor Parker is for you. She is precise and details every single topic. The course has LAs who will answer through WhatsApp most of the time. Even if the content is long and heavy, the support the professor and LA's gives you will be enough for you to succeed.
She goes way to fast on her lectures, and she has her LA do the grading, and they are awful graders and you ask them a simple question and they don't know how to answer simple questions.
This class is made easy because of this professor. She is so caring and takes the time to make sure everyone understands the material before moving on and is so understanding if she has to explain things more than once. Participation is graded, but she has amazing lectures that actually help you. She's the best.
inquizitives, 3 exams (one dropped), final, in class assignments, participation points, Guiding question assignments to prepare for exams, amazing lectures that prepare you for the exams. She also drops one participation grade and one in class activity grade. Take her!!! she provides extra credit as well and is understanding and nice.
Dr. Parker was such a thorough teacher and the ppts she uses really explain everything. You will be able to get an A in the class, just put in the work! She gives many opportunities for extra credit, so no rounding of grade is available. 2 assignments per week, a few written papers, 4 tests (one optional/dropped) and a final. Take her if you can!
A teacher that cares about the students and what she's teaching. Homework is easy enough to get through, lectures are informative, attendance is taken through ICLICKER, 3 exams (with one dropped), and a final. If you put in the work, you'll succeed here.
Dr. Parker is really passionate about statistics, explains everything very thoroughly. Lots of feedback and extra credit opportunities. 2-3 assignments per week, 2 papers and 4 exams (1 gets dropped). She will make research methods way less intimidating if you take her. Great class!
Loved this class! The homework and the inquisitive was easy and the lectures were great! Definitely have to do some group work but professor Parker is clear, fun, caring and give you many chances to catch up! I definitely suggest taking this class with her.
Prof, Parker is very dedicated and organized. This class had weekly HW, group discussions, 4 exams-1 final. Open notes- the worst part for me was that it has statistics, but she helps you figure it out on her video lectures. There is tons of reading and writing, extra credit. Prof. Parker prepares you well for research methods II.
13 homework assignments, 12 discussions, 15 weekly tutorial videos, and 5 exams on lockdown browser ( lowest grade dropped). This class does involve statistics! as someone who isn't good at math professor Parker made this class easy and doable! There is a lot of work! The exams are much easier than the homework assignments.
SO time-consuming... if you have to take this class make sure you're prepared because this is a MAJOR class. It was hard to keep up and got TIRING towards the end because we had 3 EXAMS back to back! Along with a whole bunch of other assignments... she gives a lot of extra credit! and drops your lowest exam and HW assignment.
Professor Parker made this course look easy, the assignments and syllabus are structured neatly, and there are very detailed instructions. She is very nice and passionate. Just read the directions and PowerPoint. You will for sure pass if you put in the effort.
I do have one major complaint about her class: it is EXTREMELY time-consuming due to the workload. We had pre and post class assignments, random pop quizzes, mandatory participation in 2 SONA research credits, 2 writing papers, and 5 exams (lowest dropped). Her teaching is precise clear and excellent teacher but, in my opinion, a little strict.
Tiene consuming course
I'm not really sure why she has a high score. I am on the Deans list and have only had straight A's this semester and let me tell you, she is a very harsh grader. A lot of homework that is very tedious and takes a long time. She nitpicks on the smallest things that ruins your overall grade. Only area she isn't a harsh grader is on her lectures.
Overall she is a great professor that does have a big heart for her students. However I find the assignments to be very difficult, super time consuming, and tedious. She is very specific with grading so even the smallest mistake she will dock points off. She does give extra credit as well as drops the lowest test grade, so that's a plus.
Parker was a very goos psych teacher. the work she gave was very beneficial and helped me learn the material better. she made not clear how to reach her and she did not provide an overwhelming amount of homework. she does go a little fast in her lectures but, it is manageable.
She's a good teacher she can speak clearly however she doe\s go very fast and does not provide you with the PowerPoint she teaches with, so your left with a vague textbook power point in canvas. If you are not a fast learner it will be hard to keep up.
I'm not really sure why she has a high score. . A lot of homework that is very tedious and takes a long time. She nitpicks on the smallest things that ruins your overall grade. Only area she isn't a harsh grader is on her lectures.
Very time consuming class
Horrible class
Professor Parker is very thorough and passionate about the material. The class has a lot of work, but she provides many opportunities for extra credit. I found Unstuck ai helpful for exam prep alongside the course resources.
Shes overall a great teacher and gives her students a chance to earn a better grade on many occasions. The final is very difficult, but a quick read over the whole chapter the day before will earn you at least a C. She is very easy to talk to and very nice. ALSO!! Uses iClicker.
She was a great teacher who really seemed to love what she did. She does assign a lotttt of homework, as well as goes extremely fast during her lectures. But honestly homework grades really are what pulled me through that class.
Honestly she's a great professor, she provides tutorial videos. She does give a lot of HW. She uses honor lock for mid term and final but not for quizzes. her tests are a bit difficult but if you study it can be manageable.
Pop quiz at the start of every class, but not bad if you read material before hand. She's very organized and really wants you to read the information in the chapters (pop quizzes + In class assignments show her how much you know). The LA's helped a lot too. She's very adamant on reading + doing the work. Don't fall behind! She cares a lot :)
AMAZING professor. Her lectures are always interesting. Assignments are straight forward and extremely easy. The exam was based on what we covered in class and she also drops your lowest exam grade. This class was an easy A I would definitely recommend.
loved her class! she made the work easy to understand, in-class worksheets were easy and helpful, iclickers for participation added a nice touch. guided notes are a bit long but it's all important for the respective exams. very educated and nice and the LAs were helpful as well. very recommended!
Not an accessible professor who will address your concerns in a timely or professional manner. Provides misleading and outdated information about psychology. This is supposed to be a developmental psychologist but does not appear to be up-to-date on the field. I would take her really only if there are no other options. Relies too much on iClicker.
She's a very straightforward and organized professor and she makes announcements all the time for the upcoming projects and exams. She gives a couple opportunities for extra credit. The course itself requires lots of reading. Her PowerPoints are very simplified and easy to follow. There's an iclicker pop quiz for every class as well.
Her lectures are very informative & straightforward! Her exams are really easy just like the study guide she provides you. If you have any questions, she will gladly answer them. I've taken her for PSY2012 & PSY3211 as well & I would definitely recommend her for those classes too!
Dr.Parker was accessible out of class and was really helpful w/office hours. However she took over month to grade a paper that was worth15% of ourgrade. Her grading took forever, esp playpostits that were automatically graded she took her sweet old time to submit those. She said that our final grades would be on 24th but she had them 2 days later #liar
I could not recommend this professor enough!! The class had an easy workload which consisted of guided notes, an in class activity which could be done in a group, and Inquizitives. The guided notes were very helpful and made the reading much faster. Additionally, they acted as a study guide for her test which including the final were all easy.
The class itself can be tough if you're not good with stats. However, Dr. Parker is very sweet and teaches in a way that makes the material interesting and easy for students to understand. The LAs did a great job as well. The workload can be overwhelming but doable if you manage your time. My only complaint is that she doesn't teach RM2.
100% recommended for psych. She's the best, and her tests. are literally the study guide. If you pay attention to her lectures, you'll be fine. You do have to go to class, it is very mandatory
One of the most amazing psychology professors at FIU! Very responsive and cares for students a lot. She ensures you understand the materials and explains the most complicated concepts well. Assignments are also very reasonable, and the material load is very doable. If you want to learn something new and truly enjoy class, take her.
Homework consisted of reading powerpoints (usually 100+ slides), taking notes on that + a video (usually 30+ mins or so) as well as a preclass assgmt + inclass assgmts + tests. Not too bad if you disperse workload well. Ngl, tests were a bit rough, but not bad if you really study. Class requires a lot of effort. Not bad tho! She cares a lot!
I enroll Fall-2025 on Psychology of Adolescence with Dr. Parker, and she is incredible! A true professional who organized her curriculum to help us learn, apply, and prepare as Psychologists. She is a sweet lady, willing to help us, and her quizzes are student friendly. I want to take more courses with her.
Love her! So very nice and her lectures are easy to follow and engaging. Tests were also very easy! I was hesitant at first about her having handwritten chapter assignments before lectures but it ended up being great for my memory!! Would absolutely take her again if I could.
extraordinarily well structured course. as long as you read the powerpoint, watch the playpost, then do the pre-class assignment in that order, I promise you will find the subject matter very easy to understand. This class was a piece of cake and I have nobody to thank but Dr. Parker and how well she structures the RM1 coursework. best prof so far
such a kind professor who cares for her students. she prepared us well throughout the curriculum, which made all the assignments and exams doable. i definitely recommend taking her for research methods 1.
Dr. Parker is a really sweet professor. Her lecture playposits (also homework each week) are really good so definitely pay attention to those and take notes, they help with the exam a lot. When she lectures though, she does rush through the slides and doesn't really go in-depth with the material. You should be good as long as you pay attention!
Awesome professor! Manageable workload for a hybrid class. You have to learn the content before coming to class but all the resources (PlayPosits, powerpoint, pre class assignments) are helpful as well as her in class lectures and clicker questions. 3 exams on honorlock, but first exam and final on lockdown. You won't regret taking her!
Absolutely loved Dr. Parker! She's very passionate about what she teaches and it shows. She personally engages with her students during lectures and makes the class very easy. She gives clear instructions for assignments and provides study guides that cover everything that's to be expected on exams. She's caring, sweet, and just absolutely amazing.
