she may be nice but all she does is literally tell the class that they won't have time to finish their exams because the questions just require way too much info. The midterms are ridiculous and don't be fooled by open book midterms. This class needs to be re-evaluated

Had to respond to lame comments about midterm. Lots of time to complete each portion of open book exam, if you weren't choosing that moment to read text for first time. Knows her stuff, clearly articulates expectations, demanding and very helpful.

Very nice, cares about the sucess of her students. Classes are insightful and worth while. Relates most of the material to her experience in Indonesia and Austrailia. Manage time during essay accordingly because every minute counts and the questions take time.

Dr. Richardson is a great teacher. She takes the time to clearly explain the course material, and she is open to all student comments. She encourages class discussions which aid in the learning process.

Overall teaching is good. But although you may include everything you know about the material on the midterm and final exams, you always find that you missed something that she was looking for and marks suffer a LOT because of that.

Amazing teacher for sure. The mid-term was sooo easy because of her easy marking. She always explains the important aspects of the class; and always listen when she says this is a major component of the exam because it will be. She basically outlines the exams for you. It makes sense because why study something that she feels isn't important!

By far the best professor I've had to date. Runs the whole lecture by asking questions that naturally segway into the next topic. Absolutely dynamite. She also lays down the law that people are not to have their cells ringing off, or to be chatting throughout the lesson. Created a focused, fast paced, entertaining, and learning atmosphere. A+

By far one of the best professor's at York. She's very clear and help's you understand easily during lectures. She tells you exactly what she expects and goes through many examples to help you. Nice prof., but needs to mark needs to mark a little less harder on exams, exams are not mp choice, Canada is a new country and York is a multi-cultural University, there are a lot of people whos english is not their first language. :) stil an amaizing prof.

An amazing Prof! I have learned so much from this course and it has changed how I view the world. She is professional, knowledgeable, and funny. Her teaching style made what would have been a dry subject very interesting! If only all professors could be like her!

She's great, really sweet, willing to help, goes the extra mile, a fantastic teacher. WARNING: go to class. If you don't you will do very poorly on the exams. The exams are killer as they have very specific demands as to HOW to write them. So listen carefully in class and ask if you need clarification. Julia will help you out, she rocks!!! :D

A double edged sword here. Sort of a bird course (for 3rd and 4th years). On one hand, she comes across very nice and is very thorough with what she does. She makes it so that you can understand it all without reading the book. With that said, while the content isnt hard, you have to be very specific come the final, and know every minor detail.

Julia really made first year easy for me. She's willing to go that extra mile to help students understand the material & is VERY clear about her expectations on exams. Fantasic professor. If you are in University to actually learn, then you must take this course with her. She made the course interesting and fun. Plus her international experience is a definite bonus, because it gives you the applicability and reality that is sometimes lacking in these theory courses. Having her as a prof is a gift.

The best prof you can get at york. Attend the lecture and pay attention, you will do good! She is very clear about what she is looking for and I love that she made an effort to remember your name. Midterm and final are open book but there's no time for that, so make sure you read it if you aiming for an A.

Aside from being a good educator, prof, mentor, whatever, I want to mention one thing I have never mentioned about the other "good" profs I've had. Julia is INTELLIGENT. I'm not talking about 15 years work experience, PhD, knowledgeable, etc. Let's just say she has a huge intellectual capacity. She is not a drone-professor.

She's very helpful, clear, concise and brings a breadth of knowledge that exceeds the slides, text and notes. However, she really needs to stop treating her students like they're in grade school. People arrive late; it's a fact of life. Stop humiliating them in front of everyone else. Further, let us use laptops for those who want to take in more.

It's not easy to get an A in her class. Highly recommend practicing case studies with her as many as you can if you are not good at case study. Practice it each week, which improve your marks and see her comments to know what she wants you to do in the case. She asks almost same Qs on exams as you do in classes. Without any doubt, she is the BEST.

The most engaging and sociable professor I've had so far. She has a weekly case study which looks a lot like an actual exam question. Cases aren't an easy A or A+, but those who try them in class get them. I worried about her no laptop or lateness policy before enrolling, but I forgot about all of that when I sat down! Go have fun in this class!

Getting a good mark will not be easy, but that is not the distinction of a good teacher. Julia Richardson makes her classes interactive, you're not stuck with Scantron (multiple choice). Do your readings and participate.

An Asset to York University

One of my favourite profs. She is a very fair professor and cares about her students doing the best they can. Class is 40/60 with only a midterm and a final. Attending her lectures was always intersting and her accent is lovely. Take this course with Julia!!

Class beings with her going through the lecture slides then answering a practice question each week to prepare for what is expected on exams. I really recommend going just for these questions because if you only read the slides and know how to collect your ideas and answer properly then you'll excel without having to read the textbook. Amazinggg prof! Her lectures are super simple and clear (on top of which she has the sexiest accent)and if you go to her lectures and review her slides you'll ace her exams. I only used the textbook for guide. Take notes when she takes up cases because similar ones come up in the exam. Follow her general steps for the cases and you'll do great!

Julia was easily the standout educator on the international MBA at the University of Otago. Starting with her in the first week I wondered if all the professors would be as good - no such luck. She is a real professional - takes great care with presentations, covers exactly the material she says she will and keeps the class tightly on track.

Dr. Richardson is one of the best professors at York! She is energetic and enthusiastic in her lectures, clearly explains concepts and doesn't ever surprise her students with exams (she tests what she teaches, no hidden questions). The exams are tough though, especially how they are graded. You need to really know the material and apply yourself.
