He makes the class fun. He helps you whenever you need and makes things easier for you! I would deffinatly reccomend you taking his class.

Hilliard is a very fun teacher and makes the class interesting. He has lots of fun stories to tell. I recommend taking zoology with him. He reminds me of a funny cartoon. ha!

Julian has this science geek sex appeal that just sorta sneaks up on you after having heard so many of his funny stories and crazy antics. He made Zoology something I looked forward to going to!

Prof very easy to understand, great sense of humor. Helps students as much as possible. Learned alot, fun class.

But if you would like a professor who is smart, funny, and interesting this is the guy to take. He really cares if you care. But You have to earn your grade. This was an awesome class!!!! I LOVE professor Hilliard. Apart from being very cute, young, and available, he's very funny and helpful. I enjoy his class very much. He finds ways to make biology interesting even if you're not seeking a career in this. I want to marry him! I LOVE JULIAN HILLIARD!!!

I love this class!!! It really got me interested in Biology. If you fail this class, it's because you do not study. He gives you exactly what you need to know in all his notes. He is also very funny. He is a cool teacher and a great person.

This is a GREAT teacher. He's very helpful and makes sure you understand the material before moving on. I enjoyed taking his class very much. He is sooo funny and goofy! He could even make trees sound interesting. Anyone would be lucky to take his class. I very highly recommend it.

His class was easy going and he kept it interesting. He is a very funny guy. The course is no blow off class... lots and lots of memorization. Just study and you'll be fine.

He is a great teacher. He explains things down to our level so that we can understand it. He gets really excited about Anatomy, so it is fun. He is a fun teacher, always cracking us up. Never a dull moment. Very informative. Lab tests are a little hard, but just know to expect it. Study your notes

Jullian is a great teacher. I learnd alot in his class. He really knows his stuff. NOT an easy "A" you have to apply your self and study your notes. There is alot to learn in A&P but take Jullian, study, and you'll do fine. Not bad to look at either. I wish he was teaching A&P II

He's an amazing teacher! he brings in info from outside the class that keeps the class interesting. anyway for lectures just study your notes and diagrams he tells you to study. for the lab it's alot of memorization, but he knows his stuff, he has great stories. just study and you will do fine in the class.

Great guy and a good friend!! I would jump at a chance to take another class with him. He made human anatomy the funniest class ever which really helps to relieve the stress because it is a very intense class. If you want have fun and learn alot take him. (he likes feedback during lecture, so talk and ask questions)

LOVED this class! It takes a great deal of work because there is a huge amount of material to learn but its almost all basic memorization. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in lab. Your grade is directly related to the amount of time and work you put into it. He makes the lectures interesting and funny. GREAT CLASS!

Very good instructor. A little stuck on himself and has no problem sharing his "opinion". Study his notes and you will do fine on lecture tests. On labs, memorize EVERYTHING! There is NO help.

The best instructor in the world! He is very helpful. He gave some students hints on the lab test when they asked. He will try is very best to help you understand the material. You will need to study; there is a lot of material to cover considering it is "General" Zoology. You will learn a lot from him...he is great!

Prodigious class. Very straight forward and tests right from his notes. He is a sarcastic, cynical, funny person so be prepared to have fun. You do have to work though. It is not the easiest of classes but, very straight forward.

The class is very hard, but that's because its Human Anatomy so the subject itself is hard. He gives very good notes and is an extremely smart man. His tests come directly from notes so take good ones. Ask questions, he loves when people are interested in learning. This class requires DAILY studying for lecture notes and the lab portion.

This is a continuation of the previous: Attend as much lab as possible; the only way you'll learn is by being there and immersed with learning the bodys. Its very interesting and an A is acheivable, you just have to work for it...like everything else in life. He will not spoon-feed you but he is always willing to help.

Jules was an amazing professor he really wants all of his students to succeed. He puts a tremendous amount of help in labs and lecture. He loves feedback and just joking around. I was terribly sad that I had to drop this class due to a full load of 18 hours. Take as few hours as you can because this class requires a ton of time! Its worth it though

Julian was a wonderful teacher. He tried his best to lay things out in the simplest, most basic levels that he could (as hard as that may have been). I would highly recommend his classes to anyone interested in truly learning, for his classes are not for the weak of heart or stomach! Study time is MANDATORY.

Zoology is a hard class. Hilliard is awesome at relating the material in ways that you can understand. Take him if at all possible. Him and his assistant Sandra are very nice and helpful!

Jules is a stand up comedian. The few times I actually read the book, his lectures didn't agree with the book in some areas, which means he doesn't read it, either. He knows his stuff and he's impatient with those who don't. He encourages students to ask for help, yet yells at them when they do. He's arrogant.

Prof. Hilliard is the most intelligent man i had ever had the honor of spending six hours a week listening to. His tests are really tough but I think it is because he is so smart he doesn't know how to dumb down for students. He and his class are a super-fun, super-smart, time.

He come off as a jerk sometimes, but that's just because people in class like to text when he is lecturing. He is the best Zoo teacher at OCCC. Take him.

Be prepared to work. If you're in this class then you should be preparing to do that anyway, but know that you will work. He is helpful, funny, pretty easy to get along with, and definitely knows his stuff. At his worst he is slightly condescending and tells too many stories - not the worst professor I've ever had. Great professor of human anatomy. He really knows how to run a lab. You have to take quizzes everyday at the beginning of lab. These really helped me to get familiar with the structure sheets. I think this class should be mandatory for every health related major. The best class I have ever taken. It even changed my views on religion and evolution.

I had him for Zoology. I didn't have any interest in it whatsoever. He is very friendly and is willing to help you if you want to succeed. This class requires studying, so if you don't want to then this class isn't for you. Julian is an awesome professor. I graduated from a large University with a Bachelors degree in Biology, and to be honest, Julian was the best instructor I have ever had. Anatomy is NOT an easy course, but Julian tries to teach it in a manner that you will understand. Go to open lab hours, read the book, and ask questions. You will be fine!

I had prof. Hilliard for both zoo and anatomy. Hands down, best prof. Ever! Be prepared to actually study your butt off. Anatomy is not a class you can BS your way through, and requires hours and hours of open lab time and studying.

Julian was one of my favorite teachers. Took his cadaver anatomy class and got an A after lots of studying and open hours. He really wants every student to do well and gives curves which help. The class is hard but is incredibly interesting with the help of this awesome professor.

Absolutely love this professor! Biology for majors is definitely not a blowoff class and requires ALOT of studying. You get out what you put in. The tests are hard, but if you show up to class and really study and read the material in the book you will do well. He is also really willing to help and explain things. Taking Human Anatomy in the 2013 Fall semester. My favorite class and favorite professor since entering college. Going to class and lab is not required but is the most helpful way to get a decent grade. Lots of work and studying but Julian is awesome! Get the text book asap and start reading.

An incredible professor! Very knowledgeable and passionate about what he is teaching. He gets off on tangents occasionally, but they are normally on topic and very fascinating tid-bits in my opinion. Prepare to do some studying. I have been so impressed with his fast-paced summer class I attended that I'm very excited for his ZOO course this fall.

Prof. Hilliard is so awesome teacher! He is facetious, random, but very cool. Anatomy is the hardest class for me. If you want to make an A in this class, be prepared for 8+ hours study a day. I took his zoology and human anatomy at the same time. It was the toughest semester I've had so far. Anything he writes on the board is important. He may get off topic and have to catch up by posting the rest of the material on moodle but he is pretty fair when it comes to the test. You will need to study for these classes. It is not an easy grade.

Hes a great professor makes nice little jokes through out the lectures. He really is there to help you out and help you pass, you must go to class everyday and take very good notes but other than that he's a great professor and would strongly recommend him to everyone having to take this class.

I have noticed that his test are pretty hard, but you should be able to pass by understanding the lecture. He connect his lectures to many stories and examples to help the students understand better. Hilliard makes Biology bareable (for someone who originally hated Biology). That being said, you will have to put in a effort for your grade. Best advice is to never miss class, pay close attention the whole period, and take as much notes as possible. 10/10 I took this class, not knowing what to expect since it is my first majors science class and I gotta say, Hilliard was GREAT! He has a dorky humor, which I enjoy and his lectures stay interesting. I logged on to check my schedule for this semester and didn't realize I have him for Bio 2 as well! Easiest and Greatest professor i have ever taken. His anatomy class is hard but just study as hard as you can, hell help you out. I have learned alot of thing from him, not only just anatomy and overall biology but also how to study for real!

The class it self is tough so be ready to attend lectures. Note everything you hear in lectures because it would 100% appear in his tests. Give good extra credits and super attentive to any question. Sometimes he is too smart for these classes, thats why he expect a lot from his students. Be organize, do your homework and study every single day.

Anatomy is a HARD class to take, but let me tell you. Professor Hilliard is amazing and is so funny. All the dad jokes you can stand. Hes a superb teacher, but this class is ridiculously difficult. Get ready to study A LOT, but you will also learn a lot.

SUCH a funny professor. he tries to make the class enjoyable. Gives a lot of extra credit, tests are his slides so memorize them!!! He does expect a lot from his students, he is beyond smart. The best teacher I have ever had at any institution. The man knows his stuff. He can lecture and give a real world example to any situation. He's incredibly smart and if just come to class, listen in class, and do the connect HW theres no reason why you shouldn't get at the minimum a B. It also helps that he is extremely passionate about biology.

Here is the key to passing the class: MEMORIZE THE LECTURES!!! The things I did was memorize the lectures and did the necessary homework and I was fine. I highly suggest writing down ANYTHING he says because it does show up on the test! Memorizing (while still understanding) the lecture notes is KEY!! He really makes you work for it!!

Never thought I would say this but Professor Hilliard is one of the best professor I've ever had. His Anatomy is class very challenging and more difficult compared to a lot other classes but he is very smart and knows his stuff. Professor Hilliard is one of the best Biology teachers I have encountered. I have taken his Bio 1 and Bio 2 classes. Although this lectures are super heavy on info to learn, he makes up for it in relating to his students. Be aware though, you must study hard for the exams! However Id definitely take him again for any of my upcoming classes!

I took his Human Anatomy and Gen Bio 1 classes. He is a very strict grader, but he gives you everything you need to know in his lectures. He doesn't ask questions that he doesn't cover in lecture. Anatomy was very hard, but you have open labs just about everyday to just go in and study the bodies anatomy. Put in the work and you'll get an A.

Professor Hilliard is a great professor, I had to take his online class. He had zoom meetings almost every week and tried answering questions and helping out as much as he could. Since it is online, you were required to read from the book and STUDY as much as you could.

Professor Hilliard is great. He is very passionate about his teaching. He has weekly zoom meeting to review for upcoming tests. I would 100% recommend to listen to his lecture notes, they are a great way to study for the test. Overall, there are 6 unit test, Lab mid-term and final-term, and connect activities along with labs. Offered extra credit.

Professor Hilliard is awesome! I took his Gen Bio 1 for majors online, and ended up kind of enjoying it. He's easy to get in contact with if you have questions, and his weekly zoom meetings are really helpful. As long as you listen to his lectures and complete all the assignments you can definitely succeed in his class.

He definitely will not hand out A's. However, an A is achievable IF you watch and take notes over all of the lectures that he posts. Do not skip the test review videos! His class requires a lot of time and effort, the lectures are long and there are a lot of them. Do not skip any of the homework and show that you care. This is not an easy class.

He was a good professor, but biology in an 8 week online format is hard. Do not expect this class to be easy, if you want an A, you’ll work for it. Watch all of the lectures, all the zooms, and do all of the reviews. He’s funny and cares, but his class is hard. He doesn’t offer much extra credit.

I took Biology majors for 8 weeks online. Professor Hilliard was an amazing professor online. He responds quickly to emails, has very informative lectures, and truly cares about the subject/class. He provides reviews for tests and his lectures are crucial for the tests. A lot of studying but it is worth it in the end.

If your goals are to challenge yourself and become smarter in the sciences, take any of his classes. He is someone you want to learn from.

The lectures are a lot, but he makes them fun and interesting. The hardest part for me were the post lab quzzies.... I think I would have made an a, if these weren't so tricky. They are only 10 questions, so missing one already puts it at an 90. He seems to really care about the subject and is overall a nice guy. I would take him again!

His class was incredible. He is hands down the greatest biology professor on campus. He'll emphasize important concepts during lectures, which will appear on exams. The study guides are beneficial but you need to learn the concept instead of memorizing a definition. If you're taking biology, take Hilliard.

8 week summer class was a breeze as long as you study the lecture audios and notes. Labs were interesting and homework was easy points. Very understanding about life problems and is willing to work with you to get the best possible grade. Would definitely recommend on going to his office hours to understand any topics you're hesitant about.

Professor Hilliard loves biology. His excitement for the topic is evident in the way he teaches. He loves to see the lightbulb moment when a student connects the dots, and he loves to see his students develop a passion for biology and science. Biological Science majors MUST take his classes. You will walk away with a greater love for biology.

Had this guy last Fall for Gen. Bio I for Majors. Very large lectures and tests. He does have a tendency to yap a little and get off track during lectures, but it really just shows how passionate he is about teaching. This can cause the course to get behind a little, but the only effect of this was the tests moving to Moodle. Highly recommend!

Super funny guy and is passionate about what he does. He lets you know what will be on the test during note taking, but one thing is that his study guides are a hit or miss. Don't depend too much on them since most of the material on the study guide isn't even on the test, so make sure to study and pay attention during lectures.

Professor Hilliard is one of the only professors that strive for you to succeed. Yes the test can be difficult but if you study enough you should pass. He's always willing to help and make sure you pass in his office hours. If you don't study you won't pass. Also make sure you pass all your post lab quizzes that will help you!!

Hilliard really cares about his students success and wants them to pass. He's very passionate about what he does and is very educated about his subjects. His lectures are interesting and he keeps them fun. He know so much about so many different things, he's very funny and cool.

Professor Hillard was an amazingly passionate professor, he really cares about biology and his students (he affectionately calls us puppy monkey babies). He values class participation so it is slightly important to talk in his class. I will also say it is very useful to go to his office hours since he is always open to explain further!

Human anatomy is very hard I struggled, but the professor is amazing at teaching! He wants students to succeed, and hard work is rewarded. For lecture exams to start studying his presentations ALOT ahead of time because it is a lot to learn and his exam outlines are sometimes not super reliable so it's important to know everything you can!

Professor Hilliard is a very nice and knowledgeable professor. He is really passionate about biology and that translates to how well he teaches his students. Very test heavy, 6 unit exams for lecture and two lab exams. Was not easy, especially in the summer block. If you work hard, you will do just fine! I definitely recommend taking him for bio!

Took an 8 week class over the summer, great professor and very friendly to students and encouraging. If you take notes over his lectures, then you'll be fine for tests. Gives unit reviews but tests had more info on them, but would sometimes tell us some questions that would be on tests, plus gave bonus questions. Not lots of work

He's really knowledgeable and very passionate about the subject. He was always willing to answer my questions and have conversations with me, and genuinely wants you to succeed.

I took him for BIO I and now I am taking him for BIO II. I wish I could have him as my professor for every class. He is funny, intelligent, and very passionate when it comes to his job and students. You should record his lectures if you can and take notes as you go.
