Oh my God, what a fantastic professor!

Great professor! Always willing to help , really good at explaining things and his class is a lot of fun and really relaxed. Plus he's really German, so he knows what he's talking about. If you want really get on his good side buy him coffee in the morning.

I love this class! My favorite of the entire day, and looking forward to taking 102, and beyond. He has a great sense of humor and always has the class laughing... a really enjoyable class. Wish it was longer than just 50 minutes!

Julian makes german extremely fun even thought the class is at 8 am. he keeps the energy level up, always makes jokes, and is a very helpful person! if you have a problem in the class, all you need to do is talk to him and he will work with you.... hes a reasonable instructor

Amazing professor!!! I took 101, 102, and 103 with him and it was the funnest classes i ever took. HE tells you a lot about German culture and people. The class is easy if you come often and listen in class. There is almost no homework.

Julian keeps the class interesting, unique, and generally very fun! I look forward to his class every day because he makes it personal. You can tell he really cares about his work and truly wants his students to understand the German language and culture with clarity. He's an amazing professor, and definitely my favourite!

Prof Nelson is easy going for the most part. If he likes you, then he likes you. If he doesn't... watch out!!! It's best to stay on his good side! But don't allow him to intimidate you, or try to control you. Remember All students have their rights!

I have been at clark for two years, and took three quarters of German. I have to say, the students and teacher of this class became like a family to me. Every day when I walked into German, it felt like home. He creates a warm, comfortable, relaxed environment where much learning and many memories are made. I have nothing but good things to say!

BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! :D He is very funny and loves his job. He cares about all his students and cracks jokes all the time. The quizes are straight forward and easy. The tests he gives practice tests and they are extremely helpful. TAKE HIM!!!

Herr Nelson is perhaps the best teacher I've ever had. Knowledgeable, charming, and extremely helpful, I have so much fun in his class. The class is challenging without being too hard, and you get to work somewhat at your own pace since he only collects homework at the end of each chapter, and each quarter covers two chapters. LOVE!

Julian mixes in great conversations with every text book chapter. He is very passionate about his job and everything he does. He can be so serious but joke about anything at the same time. Very funny and very magnetic.

Professor Nelson is the BEST professor I have ever had. He is very serious about the subject, he's a native speaker, and he knows what he's teaching. He is also very very funny! His jokes make the class period a blast! He makes learning a language so entertaining. Just be dedicated, show up to class, do homework and love Julian Nelson!

Herr Nelson is amazing, great class and atmosphere, he's passionate about what he teaches. Stay diligent in your My German Lab assignments and show up for class and you'll be alright.

Great professor, really cares about the language. You are required to speak in front of the class frequently but nothing too scary. Two quizzes and one test per chapter. A lot of vocab and grammar is learned. Also culture is a big aspect. Overall enjoyed this class and the professor.

Herr Nelson is a great professor!The class was interesting and he would always be making jokes that are actually funny! For just one quarter I learned a lot about the German language and culture. There are a few assignments, quizzes, and exams. He tells you exactly what's on them and if you study you will do great! Not much speaking unless you want

Nelson was the best language professor I've ever had! He really cares about all of his students, and will reiterate a subject as much as needed. In addition, he teaches about various components of culture and history that pertain to German. You definitely need to attend class, but you will want to - he is hilarious!

I've really enjoyed taking German with Herr Nelson. The culture segments were great, although the grammar really challenged me. Very inspirational instructor and I highly recommend him.

Spectacular instructor. Has a great sense of humor and really helps students understand the language. Always there to help, informative and patient. I wish I could take more classes with him. If you want to learn German and get the basics of how the grammar works, he is the teacher to have.

Just take his class. I thought learning a new language would be difficult and boring, but Herr Julian disproved that for me. He teaches very clearly, making sure you understand. He gives quite a lot of extra credit. He should also be a stand-up comedian. That makes class interesting and makes you want to go to class every day.

I found myself excited for his class everyday, his lectures are always interesting and he has a great sense of humor. Plus, he gives a lot of extra credit. There's never a dull moment with Professor Nelson, I would recommend him to anyone!

Love love love! Actually went fencing with him one time, and he is a hilarious guy. His classes aren't boring and he's very clear on what is going to be on the test! I'm sad I was too busy to take any further classes with him.

Best professor hands down! He is the funniest teacher I have ever had and he really cares about his students. Not much homework, just a few essays that are not hard. This is his first quarter doing English 101, and he has done such a great job! He is super funny, and he definitely cares about your improvement of the skills taught in this class. I definitely would recommend him, he is overall one of the best teachers I have ever had!

Jules was the BEST Lit professor I've ever had. I was sick way too often this term, but he was always reading and willing to communicate with me. Do the reading, or sparknotes it, and go to class. In class he does a discussion about the text which made me MUCH more prepared for the few papers we had. I learned so much in his class! He's a gem.

Professor Nelson is a great guy and a really caring, quick responding teacher. He is funny, charismatic and encourages class participation. However if you have any kind of social anxiety and just like a relaxed lecture, do not take him. He's really not strict about readings but there are some small "pop quizzes" and only two essays.

Great professor, knows his stuff and is pretty funny. Enjoyed coming to lecture, attendance is important. There's a bit of reading but its easy if you pace yourself. Discussion posts and essays are also easy. He definitley appreciates participation in class and it just makes the lectures all the more interesting.

Julian is definitely the best professor I've had at Clark. I was nervous about taking English 101 because I am not strong in English. However, Julian broke things down and made the class easier. There is only three essays and no quizzes. He is incredibly caring and I loved his class dearly.

Best lit teacher at Clark! If you have the opportunity to take him, do it! His lectures are inspiring and he has a clear passion for the literature we read. In addition, if he feels you did well on responses he'll give you extra credit just because. He's very understanding and loves teaching. The readings are all online (so no textbook needed)!

Dr. Nelson is a pretty amazing professor. I really enjoy his lectures and lots of laughs but the discussions help me understand the works, apply them to my own life, and feel confident to write about them. Take him if you have the opportunity: you wont be disappointed. Online responses and quizzes keep you on your toes.

I took his English class online, my second online class so I was sorta weary about taking it. He is an amazing teacher, he will give failing grades but also the opportunity to retry every once in a while

Julian is a wonderful instructor very understanding and compassionate toward his students and the material he teaches. He is very strict on a few policies absolutely no cell phones, come to class, and participate in discussions. I have never had an instructor that has changed my life in so many ways. I have a newfound love for literature.

Only class I have actually learned anything in so far. By far the best teacher I have ever had. Makes learning fun and interesting. Very funny guy. He was a little bit of a tough grader sometimes but he gave very good feedback. I could tell he actaully read my work because he left comments about almost eveything.

I LOVED THIS CLASS. he was super understanding and gave amazing feedback. He also gives tons of room for editing and HE'S HILARIOUS. Seriously, take his class I promise you'll love it.

The teacher knows what he wants and what he expects and he is not afraid to take points away. If you are sensitive to what people say then I wouldn't recommend the class. But overall he is funny and his discussions are something to look forward. Final is a 5 paragraph essay on topic of your choice.

I promise you that even if you aren't an amazing writer, Nelson will work with you to become one. He helps push students to consider other world views and he's genuinely kind and caring. Take him, you wont regret it.

Great lectures, funny, and understanding of students' situations. My only problem is that he strayed off topic frequently and it often felt that we didn't get to cover the material we were intended to learn. With that said I think he was just out of his element because he hadn't taught American Lit before, I still recommend him though!

Amazing class! Enjoyed the readings and lectures and I appreciate the way Nelson prompted and directed our discussions. Clear with expectations and assignments. I highly recommend Nelson-be sure to take one of his classes before you graduate.

He always wants you to do your best and will help you along the way. He is very funny and doesn't mind getting teased. He helped my writing a lot and his feedback is very specific on what he is expecting.

Dr. Nelsons World Literature course rocks. I was actually excited to come to class. I feel the assignments were fair. He provides rubrics and a breakdown of what he wants on those assignments and really helpful feedback. I found the discussions inspirational and they helped me understand the works.

I like this professor so much I have taken two literature course with him and the second time around was better than the first. His lectures and discussions are inspiring and he made the works we read engaging. The only drawback is the large number of Running Start students who can be pretty immature and a drag on the class.

Outstanding professor who inspired me with every class. Assignments and expectations are clear and feedback was phenomenal. This dude gave me LOTS of helpful feedback. Stay on track with turn around times and you'll do fine.

Dr. Nelson's warm, charismatic, and encouraging personality enables him to connect with his entire class and bring out the best in them. Because of that I felt more connected to the class as well. All of this accompanied with his vast knowledge on many things and refreshing viewpoints make for one of the best classes I've ever taken.

I'm taking his World Literature I class right now and it's your average class we have a discussion every other week, at least one quiz a week, and we do "response assignments," which are like analyses of what stories we read. The text is mandatory. He's German and... you can tell when he grades. He does give great feedback, though! Overall awesome!

Don't let my grade fool you. I worked VERY hard for it. He's great, but he's also a tough grader. You must keep up with the pace of the class or else... He is very humorous which makes the lectures fun to listen to. Be ready to work hard for your grade. No slacking. You'll hear stories of his cat probably...

Excellent professor who provided great feedback, which can seem harsh, but it's helpful and it shows he reads your work. Lots of reading with response papers and discussions. Make sure to post peer feedback or your score will drop.
