Really cool teacher

Professor Smit is very good at his job. He will help you in anyway he can and make sure you get the lecture. He expects you to read the chapter before he goes over it. Sets really good examples of each specific subject in the book. He will relate the text anyway possible to nowadays life. Very good teacher.

Has a strong Canadian accent but very clear with explaining every chapter. He expects us to read the chapters before class so that if you have anyquestions, you can address them in the lecture the day of the class. He puts all the Lectures and Study questions online, the same questions he uses for the test. so you really dont need a book.He's GREAT

He is pretty new to CSN, so I looked at his ratings at Utah Valley University and at UNLV before I signed up. They loved him and so do I. The grades are not free, but if you read the text and pay attention in class this is an easy course. He posts study questions for each chapter and you can get all the answers in class. Just keep up with the work.

This teacher is cool but there is WAY too much reading...You dont have to attend class you just have to do the 100+ questions he assigns for each chapter and remember it all for each test. Class is very boring all he does is talk. No one interacts. He is helpful if you need it. Cool guy but hella boring class!!!!

I left stats until the last course, I hate math, but Dr. Smit made it so easy. No not really easy but easy to understand. He really gets that students dont like stats and math, the text is actually call for people who hate statistics. The funny thing is that now I dont hate statistics, i actually understand it thanks to dr. Smit.

I took his class for my first semester, not knowing what to expect, and he turned out to be a fantastic teacher. He explains everything thoroughly and answers any and all questions that the students have. He's also more than willing to help out during his office hours. Just a great guy to boot. I wholeheartedly recommend him.

He is such a great prof. I took two of is psy classes 101 & 241. All quizzes have no limit u can correct them if u dont get a good score the 1st time and midterm& final u get 2 chances. there is also 2 essays or 2 aritcle journals u have to write but are very easy to do. recommend to get him

BEST PROFESSOR I've had so far in college. I wish he taught more than just stats because his teaching methods are spectacular and he makes something even as boring as stats enjoyable. I hate math, and I will still miss this class a lot. If you have to take stats SIGN UP FOR SMIT!!

Such a wonderful instructor! I really wish I would have taken him for Research Methods and Stats!! If you can, take his classes! He's very clear of what he wants in his class and gives you time with everything. If I ever get the chance to take one of his courses, I'd definitely would!!! :)

Love this professor! Open-book quizzes once a week, and lectures to cover the material. The course is insanely easy, but you will learn a lot from it, and the professor is charming. If you fail this class, college may not be for you.

He is really easy to talk to. His class is too easy. Other than him using attendance in your grade you don't need to go to class all quizzes and exams are online. If you are looking for an easy class this is it.

Julian is a great professor! Very clear and easy on all assignments, just do the work and you will get an A! All quizzes and exams are done online with no time limits. Quizzes have unlimited attempts so there is no reason not to get 100 on all of them. If for some reason you cannot make class (attendance is mandatory) he is very forgiving.

He was the best teacher I will probably ever have! He was understanding, interesting and fair. If you did the work, it was a guaranteed A. All the tests were open book and you could take them as many times as you wanted. I loved this class!!!

If you don't get an A in this class, you didn't make any effort whatsoever. 1 homework assignment 1 discussion per week, each week he posts a clip from a TED talk then you answer 4 questions, that's it. Great professor quick to respond to emails, very helpful when you have questions & very understanding when things come up. Highly recommend him!

Really great teacher. I had him for the Honors psychology class and enjoyed it a lot. He's a great teacher and he's very fun during discussions. I never added too much, but I definitely learned a lot from him.

Julian is very helpful. If you read the book and know it you will do fine. He is one of those teachers who teaches the book while giving you some interesting facts on along the way. So just follow book.

He is a great professor! TAKE HIM! He will make you laugh while you learn and the time will just fly. I took him for a summer course and the 4 hour days just flew by. It takes a special kind of professor to make statistics interesting. Take his class, you wont regret it.

A person can tell when someone truly enjoys their job and this man enjoys his. very patient, goes at the pace of the slowest person. energetic and will not leave any question unanswered. I only wish math professors had his teaching style. Also for all nursing majors he used to be a nurse and is very knowledgeable in that field.

I loved taking this class this teacher was awesome he helped me understand a difficult subject and made it simple to learn. If you have to take this class take this teacher he is super nice and at times the class can get boring because he makes sure everyone understands this subject which is okay since he cares that his students are learning this.

This is a great intro to psychology. He wants the students to pass. You read the chapters before class and you can keep up in the class. The quizes and exams are taken at home and you can take them more than once. He really wants people to pass. I learned a great deal in this class.

Professor Smit is absolutely wonderful! He is very helpful and does not put a stressful workload on you. He directs the class towards the students' career path, so it is something you can understand. I walked away from his class able to grasp everything we learned about. I rate him a 10 out of 10!!

This class is an easy A! He assigns one short weekly discussion that is usually regarding a TED Talks video and a short assignment to go along with the material in the text book, there are also three exams which are open book. He doesn't give any feedback and takes a while for him to grade assignments. You pretty much teach yourself.

Took his summer 4 week course, easiest class ever. Little math done, and if there was it was calculator type. He is very funny and will not move on from lecture until everyone understands! Totally worth taking with him in the summer, got it over with quick and with an A!

He's super funny, you read the book and take a quiz throughout the week then talk about it the week after. The chapters are a little lengthy but it helps on the quiz. Show up to class, you'll regret it if you don't, the guy is hilarious. He also explains things very clearly and always stays after class to answer anyone's questions.

I have taken his PSY 101 online class, and I was amazed by how intelligent this professor is. So, I decided to take another class. I haven't' changed my mind. He is super intelligent and you will learn a lot from him. Not too many tests. He would not move on till everyone understands the material. Easy A if you do the work.

He is an awesome and fun teacher. I would take his class again if i could! I love it. We do the chapter quiz the week before coming to class and he talks on the chapters all week. you can retake the chapter quizes until you get them all right the exams are a little trickier but not that hard.

I took Intro to Human Sexuality;Julian was amazing! He's super helpful and understanding. Definitely get the textbook; it's actually cool to read, and you definitely need it . The class is fun and pushes boundaries; while there are a lot of quizzes and writing, it's all pretty straightforward. If you go to class, you'll pass.

Not a lot of homework, only 2 exams the entire semester. Spends extra class time on confusing topics. Took this professor for 100, 240, and 210 and never got less than an A he's fantastic.

I loved this professor!! We only had a quiz every week and 1 big quiz every 4 weeks. They were all easy! He is great and his lectures are sooooo awesome , Take him if you can!!!

Great teacher, one of my favorites, wish I could take him every semester. Online quizes that aren't that hard and you can take over and over. About 1 chapter a week to read, stuff like that. Not too much work, hilarious and not very tough of a grader.

The quizzes and exams are online and straight forward. He's very funny and makes the class interesting. My class usually got into very lengthy, but informative, discussions. I always recommend him when suggesting any social science classes.

I definitely recommend him. Every week there is a class discussion and assignment. Both usually involving a video. Each of the questions should have a paragraph long answer. Every week we have a chapter to read with a 20 question quiz following that. He is a VERY easy grader. There is a large EC assignment available at the end of the semester.

Very easy class. Graded on three assignments at the end of every week: Chapter Quiz with no time limit and unlimited attempts, a discussion board, and a chapter assignment. Offers an extra credit assignment at the end of the semester, and only as 3 tests (NOT TIMED) in the whole semester. Very clear on grading criteria.

This was my first online course. I was worried that I might not do as well as I would if I were in an actual classroom setting, but I was wrong. This was probably the easiest class I've taken so far. As long as you do all the assignments you'll pass with an easy A. I think I spent about 1-2 hours a week on the homework which was nice.

Best psychology 101 teacher to take. I took him online. It's impossible not to get an A in this class. Participate in discussions, your opinions matter. Be respectful, participate, do the assignments & take the quizzes (open-book) unlimited (except for the midterms) and you'll easily pass.

Took this class online during the summer and it was very condensed and stressful but very worth it! Despite being condensed, it was a very easy class and I recommend taking it online.

Prof. Smit was an amazing teacher to take. I had Human sexuality psy 130 with him. He gives weekly open book quizzes and his lectures go in depth and are encouraged by everyone to participate in. Attendance is a must so show up! He's very understanding if a situation comes up if you can't make it to class. Very awesome prof and I'd take him again!

Professor Smit was truly a great professor. I had reservations on statistics due to the stigma of math and truly understanding of statistics. Professor Smit definitely took time and clear understanding to help us understand the material in a simplified matter. I would truly take this professor if I needed other requirement in statistics or Psych.

This class was amazing! During the semester, we read a chapter weekly, took a quiz on that chapter, completed a chapter assignment, and finally commented on a student discussion. Instead of lectures, we got to watch TED talk videos (which are the best) and all the quizzes and tests were open-book. I definitely recommend Prof. Smit.

Such a great teacher! Weekly 20 question quizzes on the book and three exams done online. You can tell he really loves the subject and sharing it with students. He always takes his time on each topic to make sure we understand and will always go back and explain. He's also really funny and makes jokes or funny scenarios in his lectures

I would highly recommend taking this professor, the only assignments in his class are weekly quizzes (which are open notes) and all of the tests are online. His lectures are always interesting and he has tons of stories to tell as well.

He is the best PHY teacher ever !!! I took him online for PHY 101, his online class was amazing. He is very clear on the material just follow the modules and directions and you will pass, if you need help dont hesitate to ask, he is very nice. He is a fair grader and his tests are easy you just have to read the chapters, tests are open book!

This man is so funny and so easy! You show up to class for a lecture and you take ALL tests and quizzes online and everything is open book. Going to class is really unnecessary and every class you miss is minus 1% but there is no way you do the work and get less then a 90 so even if you miss lots of days youll still pass. No one is easier than him

Professor Smit is a great person and this is a good class! I will say some of the worst times in my life happened at the same time I took this class . I lost my relationship of 5 years and my job of 3 years. I remember feeling alone but this class taught me a lot about how to deal with it. You will love this class and wont regret.

I loved this professor, hes super funny. All tests online/open book, mostly based on book info and not so much his lectures. His lectures do get a little dry sometimes though, I wouldve liked doing more activities in class(like personality tests). He does make an effort to get everyone to participate in class discussions.

I'm in my third semester at CSN and he is by far THE BEST teacher I have had. All tests are open book including the final. His lectures are funny and class participation is a must. I would love to take him again for any type of class!

Professor Smit was a good professor. In this class you have to: read a chapter each week, do an assignment, do a discussion post, and take a 20 question quiz. The quiz is easy and if you read you will do well. You get an unlimited chance on the quizzes, so no worries. There were 4 exams throughout the semester. Pretty easy and you get two chances.

This is by far one of the most amazing professors I have ever taken. He is so understanding to people's lives, and he helps you understand the work that you are doing, He doesn't ever throw anything at you without thoroughly explaining it. I learned so much in this class, and it was a very easy A. Lots of work, but the professor helps you so much.

Prof. Smit is really good at what he does and his class is not stressful at all. Everything that is on the test, he goes over in class, so if you attend regularly, you will be fine. He does HW in bunches but you can have him check it as the chapts progress to make sure they're correct. He said the textbook was mandatory, but we didnt heavily use it

Online class, lots of reading but it's a good book, I learned a lot and I actually enjoyed it. Very easy. There's 3 assignments each chapter. 1-3 questions of the chapter/TEDtalks, 1 discussion, 1 quiz. 2 midterms and 1 final. Super easy as long as you do the work and READ DIRECTIONS.

This class was great! As long as you do the work, there is no way for you to fail this course. I took it as a 4 week summer course, and even though it was intense, the work is simple and he allows open book testing. Would definitely take this course again!

Prof. Smith is the best took him for fall 2020. This class is a very easy A with very little work. I actually loved this class. You can really just bs through it if you want, but the reading from the textbook (which you can find online so don't buy) is really interesting with the discussion posts. 3 assignments due each week. Quiz of 20 questions with unlimited attempts, a discussion post and a short answer to a question. The guy is super nice !

Great class! He was so organized and clear that I never even had to reach out to him. Every week there was 1 discussion, 1 assignment, and 1 quiz based on the chapter but they were all fast and easy. There were 3 tests spread out through the semester and all were straight out of the book like the quizzes. Super easy and awesome class!

The online summer class was short & jam packed. Great class, but prepare for a fast paced week. Each chapter is 1 assignment, 1 quiz, 1 discussion - about 4 chapters per week. He gives great feedback, just don't fall behind or it is hard to catch up. 3 major tests, but easy with the textbook. Great professor! I just wish my course was longer!

Very simple, every week is the same formula, a 20 question test 2 retakes, discussion post, and written assignment. Nearly every week there would be 2 TedTalks followed by the written assignments. He gives great informative feedback, and makes a post when he notices patterns in our answers. Showing he cares. Highly recommend.

Prof. Smits class is incredibly easy. You can submit any assignment after the deadline for 75% credit until the semester ends. He gives great feedback and is extremely nice. The quizzes have unlimited attempts. Youll watch a lot of Ted Talks, and theres only 3 assignments a week. It will be a breeze!

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Professor Smit made my life WAY easier during this semester bcuz even though there is consistently three assignments a week, completing them is EASY if you put in some effort! He allows late work for a reduced grade, UNLIMITED attempts on quizzes, AND two attempts on exams! I learned valuable info heavily relating to my life!:)

Professor Smit is truly one of those professor where you do not forget easily. He is understanding, gives great feedbacks, gets back to his students quickly via email. He truly cares about his students. As long as you put in the effort the class is an easy A. He allows late assignments but for a 25% reduction in grade.

Professor Smit is awesome! The class and assignments were very straight forward and easy to complete. He responds to every assignment with a thorough explanation and opinions on the topic. The quizzes and tests were great as well if you read the textbook you will have no problem passing especially because you have unlimited time! GREAT PROFESSOR!

TAKE THIS CLASS!!! You have 3 assignments a week that you could complete within like 2 hours. You don't even have to read the textbook because the test are open note and if you get the textbook online you can control +F to look for answers. Not to mention you could take the final exam 2 times and you see what questions you got wrong.

One of the BEST professors I had. He provides good and detailed feedback on every assignment. We only had 1 textbook and we responded to questions from TedTalks to the book and I actually learned something. There are quizzes after every chapter but it is all based on the textbook and the same thing with exams just make sure you read the textbook.

TAKE DR. SMIT!!!! He is amazing. The assignments are easy to understand and there are many opportunities for extra credit. There are three assignments due each Sunday, a discussion, an assignment with very few questions, and an easy 20 question quiz. Another great thing is that the questions on the quizzes are clearly answered in the textbook.

Take Him! You'll get a very good grade. I like all his TED Talk assignment/discussion, just get ready to read a little but overall very easy. He gives a lot of credit. You will definitely pass.

He gives good feedback, all of the assignments and quizzes have unlimited takes and the midterms only 2 takes (nothing is timed). Plus there is extra credit assignments and textbook is online for free.

I am taking this class in the fall of 2024! I took his psychology 101 class it was amazing and the assignment was very interesting! Quizzes and midterm and final was not timed! One extra credit for psychology 101!

Overall pretty easy and enjoyable class. The textbook was a free online program. The late submission rules/guidelines were reasonable and made getting an A very achievable as long as you actually did your work. He is easy to reach and gives good feedback/clear criteria.

If you need stats, take Dr. Smit. The most amazing teacher ever. He explains thing so clearly you learn things without realizing. He makes stats easy. He checks and helps with homework before you hand it in and you can make cheat sheets for exams. Seriously, I was terrified to take stats but this was my favorite class this semester.

If someone in the class doesn't understand what needs to be done, he will stop to make sure everyone "stays on the bus". He says himself "the bus doesn't leave anyone behind".

He was an amazing teacher. I would take one of his classes in a heartbeat. He waits for everyone to feel completely comfortable in the material, takes his time, and teaches intentionally. If you have the opportunity to have him as your teacher, take it trust me.

Prof. Smit's PSY101 class is a great choice - engaging lectures, manageable workload, and easy grading. Paired with resources like unstuck study, it's a recipe for success. Definitely recommend taking this class.

Professor Smit always made me so excited to attend class, giving engaging lectures that made me understand the material better than any professor has ever been able to. Do your homework and stay engaged with the lectures and you will have no problems with succeeding in this class.

Excellent Prof. He has a wealth of experience and is inspirational. I was glad to have taken his course, and he made statistics easier than it could have been. If you can take any of his classes, stick with him. He provides excellent feedback and will make time for you after class. There are three tests through the semester he refers to as midterms

Clear expectations in syllabus. Do the work, set aside time for you weekly assignments and quizzes. Get that A

He is awesome! His lectures are great and knowledgeable about so many things, not just psychology. My advice: Do the readings, homework, and do not procrastinate the papers! We had five to do, and well, I should have started earlier.

Best CSN Henderson Professor! He took over a psychology class that started two weeks late, catching us up on an 18-week course even though he missed an additional week. Expert, engaging, and truly cares about students' learning. Highly recommend! Please do yourself a favor: search for his classes at Henderson first, then register.

Dr Julian Smit, actually cares about his students. His lectures are fun and interactive I learned a lot about the mind and how it all is connected. I would take his class again 100% my favorite teacher

Took for summer session. Uses a free textbook and open book tests and quizzes. Opened all the assignments so you can do them ahead of time. As long as you read the book and do all of your assignments on time or beforehand you will be fine. It's an easy A.

Overall easy class and I appreciated that he opened a lot the assignments so you could get them done beforehand. Easy class would take again and I enjoyed the topics we learned about.
