Took her creative writing class. She's great, but you can't teach creativity. Reading/listening to other student's work (sometimes horrible stuff) can be very mind-numbing! Have patience when taking this class w/ her. She workshops EVERYTHING!

This is a fun class. I enjoy the amount of time spent within our designated groups. The only frustrating thing about this course, is our work doesn't get handed back in a timely manner. Thus, making it difficult to understand where you stand.

this teacher only gives one test on a book the rest of what she calls test are essays.

This teacher is one of the best at Grossmont! She is nice, caring, helpful and doesn't think she's all above you like most teachers. I took her in a short-term class and it wasn't even that difficult! She offers extra-credit opportunities and let's you revise 2 essay papers. Discussions and group activities are fun! Take her 'cause she is the best!

Julie is a really great teacher. Assigns good reading and engages class in interesting discussions. Not too much writing. Pretty easy class. Just do the reading (which you can even get away without sometimes), come to class, and put forth a little effort, and you'll probably do well.

She is the only teacher I liked...actually loved in my first two swmesters at Grossmont! She's helpful and understanding, and if you're a fairly good student, pretty leanient. She gives extra credit ifthe students ask and really need it and she's always open to suggestions for class. FUN class discussions!

I liked her so much for Eng 110 I decided to take her for 126 too. It's creative writing and she has the most amazing teaching tactics. She won't just tell you to write a poem, she'll do it in abstract ways that make better sense to those of us who arent really poets. She's a great teacher and her class is one of the only ones I actually LOVE!

she is an awesome teacher, very helpful in class but responds late to emails. work isnt hard at all. gives great input and her class is NEVER boring.

Her class is uber easy. Turn in all your work and you don't have to worry about your grade. No penilty for late work or absences and no mandatory prompts. However if you want constructive critcism on your work don't go to her. Everything is STRONG and POWERFUL. She's TOO nice.

I was so scared of writing before I took her class. She really gave me the confidnece to write and good topics. 5 out of class and 2 in-class essays. Extra credit was fun and worth doing. Make sure to take your work to the writing center ,do the read- around and hand in your work on time to get an A. Cardenas is super nice and a great teacher!

Super sweet teacher, great sense of humor, clear and concise when explaining assignments. Takes roll almost daily, and remembers names eventually so make sure you go to class. Journals, papers, read arounds, and a class debate at the end-all cake and all are fairly short assigments. EASY CLASS and easy A when you try! I wish she taught 120!

Great teacher that gives you a broad range of styles to explore, such as poetry, fiction, plays, etc. Be prepared to have others read and critique your work, and some students use that as a way to put others down. Very easy class but worth taking.

Great teacher. Very helpful and fair. Basically you have 6 or 7 essays, journals, one quiz. She also lets you revise two of the essays for a better grade.

If you come to class you will do well, there is a small index card question due almost everyday. She grades fairly and is very nice. There are two tests and about 4 papers to write. The class itself is the same everyday, all you do is discuss the reading. she doesnt give you much time to read the novels.

She's extremely nice and very flexible; she wants you to do well and provides assignment extentions when necessary. Enjoyable class, very comfortable atmosphere. Only downfall is that she squishes novel reading, so you better read fast or read early! Great prof. though, take her!

If you like reading than take her class. She makes you do quick assignments about the readings. When she does asign a paper its only about 2 pages long. Fun class

Shes a very sweet teacher and if your a freshman taking her class for the first time you will find the transition into college very easy. She is always there to help you out with your writing. I wish i showed up more often because she was a very delightful teacher.

A very sweet teacher who obviously cares a lot about her students and literature. She is an easy grader. I managed to take her lit class without buying the text book. My only critism would be that some of her essay questions are very leading and hard to answer in your own words. She likes feminist and cross cultural literature.

Professor Cardenas has been a helpful, encouraging professor for my Intro to Lit class. She made each genre very interesting and exciting - because that's how she sees it. She respects all opinions and doesn't believe she has the right answer or last word. I highly recommend Professor Cardenas. I have registered for her Creative Writing course.

She is definitely a hard grader, but I learned so much in her class. The class debate was probably one of the funnest experiences of my freshmen year at Grossmont. Bottom point, KISS: Keep It Simple Silly. That's what she wants in your writing, from what I've noticed.

Ms. Cardenas is a very helpful , but a hard grader. Just follow the essay prompts and you'll be fine. There's 20 pts. extra credit too and it will help you a lot. I don't really recommend buying the book. I didn't use it too much, although you need it for writing the Journal entries, but you can borrow it from the library anytime.

Cardenas was such a nice teacher. She was very patient with the older students and cared a lot about descriptive writing which gave you an opportunity to express yourself. Just do the essays and get the extra 5 points from the english department and you'll do fine! Easy class, I love her!

Professor Cardenas is an excellent teacher. Its very hard to get an A+ in this class; however, it is easy to get an A. Definitely make use of the writing center to proof read your work. Shes one of my favorite teachers of all time!

If you don't enjoy literature or reading, this class isn't for you. Julie is a very nice and helpful teacher. She's very clear on instructions and her assignments can be a little difficult unless you do the reading. Visit her during her office hours. She gives great feedback.

Hands down one of the best classes I have ever taken. Professor is not only warm and helpful, but she assigns some of the most unique and creative projects. I never felt like my work was put down, and the workshopping process really improved my skills as a writer. HIGHLY recommended for anyone who enjoys writing.

Ms. Cardenas is a first rate instructor. Project ideas are fresh and challenging. What is the point of going to college if we aren't going to be challenged? Set a goal, do the assignments, do the readings, come to class with notes, comments or questions and you will do well in this class. She will prepare you to think critically which is mandatory.

The assignments were fun and interesting. The class helped a lot in developing creative writing skills. As long as you turn stuff in, you'll get an A. The quality of the work didn't seem to matter when it came to grading.

This class was extremely helpful in teaching me all the elements to creative writing as I'm an English major! Professor C is so caring and sweet! Towards the end of the semester, I was flooded with work and would turn things in a week late, but she still gave me full credit! She answers emails quickly and overall the class was an easy A. Take her !

She is a pretty easy grader, and she's easy to contact. There is lots of reading. She assigns many mini-papers; however, she grades them generously. I think they're assigned just to ensure you're actually doing the reading. There are timed essay exams, but if you understand the reading, the questions are easy to answer.
