This lab is HARD... Her quizzes are difficult, but the tests are easy. She's pretty helpful, but it's a large class... so there isn't much one-on-one help at all..
very nice! easy lab! goes over the lab specifically before each lab. quizzes are easy if you read the material before class! test comes from each weeks lab quizzes and math used in labs! grades fairly! i recommend to take her for lab!
Mrs. Bingham was helpful in the lab. She understood that most of us has never done this before as more than willing to help!
Good teacher..she goes over the lab thoroughly before do it..grades fairly..her quizzes are a little tough, but if you study the lab before you come to class you will do fine..i would recommend her or Narramore
She is not hard on the lab part, but the quizzes and especially the midterm and final exam are just tough. Her or oneof her assistants will be there to help you if you have any problems though.
Very Helpful Teacher. Her lab teaching helped me a lot in lecture!!! After we went over the lab I would understand my lecture. I recommend this teacher
Super hot chem teacher highly recommend. Very insightful and seemed to really care about her students.
Very elpful, explains throughly, tests are straight from lessons
WONDERFUL!! my favorite class out of the whole semester my freshman year so...take HER! she's super helpful & her expectations are very clear. quizzes are not an issue you can take it multiple times on blackboard until you get 5/5. oh & watch the videos it will make your time in class so much shorter...just a recommendation.
Class is not very difficult she is an easy grader. The mid term and final are hard but it wont make you fail the class if you just take all the quizzes. Great teacher. Take her
Sweet lady. Helps you in the lab. Only thing is, her tests are a lot harder than other profs. Fill in blank, have to know everything from lab, essay, mult. choice, true/false. Make her your back up choice.
Labs are pretty easy. But, still can't figure out where she get's her test material from. Professor Bingham not very helpful in preparing you for the mid term and final. Looks like the exam were to lower the class GPA!
She is very straight forward and can come off as insensitive. She's not! She is more than willing to help if you ask and she really respects you if you work hard! The midterm and final are difficult and require a lot of studying, but everything you need to know is in the lab manual. I highly recommend her!
I have her right now for chemistry lab, and she explains every lab in great detail. She is one professor you don't have to be scared to ask questions. Her mid term and exams are tough, but just require lots of studying. She is very sweet and makes lab more fun! Recommend her!
This professor was great, and this is coming from someone who hates Chem. Her labs are well explained and she answers any questions. Attendance is a big deal, don't skip though, and your lowest grade gets dropped. Quizzes before each lab, and two test that are pretty clear about what's on them. Take this professor, she's great!
I'd definitely recommend her and i HATED CHEM. I am so thankful this lab saved my overall grade! There's a pre-lab quiz every week that's really easy points. She explains every lab really well and the teacher assistants help you with whatever you don't get. The labs seem scary, but are really basic! Just take this class.
She will mark down ten points, an entire letter grade, for a single incorrect calculation. He test material is literally from no where, and she is not in the least bit sensitive to any student needs that you voice to her.
BIngham is straight to the point. She is clear with the instructions and is helpful if you ask questions. She is a great lab instructor to take!
For lab she is awesome! She makes everything VERY clear and her midterm and final are exactly from the labs. She is very helpful and grades very fast. Attendance is mandatory and don't be late, but other than that she grades fairly and is super nice so I'd definitely take her if you can!
Professor Bingham is extremely loud so be prepared for that. She is generally pretty good about letting us know what we will be doing in lab before we do it, but sometimes doesn't explain things in detail enough. She is always happy to take questions though. I give her a slightly above average grade because I don't want to rip my hair out.
Very direct. She is actually a pretty neat person to talk to outside of the scope of Chemistry.
Very clear of what is due and when. Keeps you very up to date! Prelab Quizzes each week before lab that you can take multiple times just 5 questions! Midterm and final are both hard but just requires a lot of studying! Great professor though, very approachable.
Pre-lab quiz each week that consists of 5 questions from lab manual. The labs are clear and what information the manual fails to explain, she will give you. Never over an hour per experiment; you have to stand the whole time. She is very kind and grading easy. The midterm was simple and everything that was presented she had given in a Study guide.
I loved this lab, she is a picky grader though. Watch your sig figs on EVERYthing.
I had her for lab and she is wonderful! She explains everything so well. She is picky about Sig Figs! After the lab practice on sigfigs she starts taking off .1 for each sig fig you have wrong. The tests are difficult but passable if you study.
Professor Bingham was awesome. She will always help. Be sure you read and take the pre-lab quizzes online the night before each lab. Also, each lab is worth 10 points and if you pay attention it should be an easy 10. Watch your sig figs on EVERYTHING!!! (and be sure you try to pick a good partner on the first day;)
Labs are very easy and she gives you all of the information before lab so you can complete the lab in less than a hour.
I took this professor because of her good rating but was not impressed. Labs are easy as well as the homework, but the test are very hard. I am an A student and this is the only B I had my freshmen year. I did not care for this professor she rude and stand off-ish.
Professor Bingham was very clear and striaightfoward on lecture. One thing to watch out is she is very picky on sig figs. As long as u pay attention to them, u will be fine
She is very helpful and if she sees that your calculations and such are off when you turn it in then most of the time she will tell you so you can fix it. Exams are pretty straight forward and if you study, you'll do fine. Focus on sig figs and MAKE SURE you do your calculations before class if needed. Never used up the whole time either
Tough on grading and very strict. Tests are tough (2 exams per semester - so do well on both) but doable if you study. The experiments were AWESOME. I would take her again. She will help you if you ask for help and cares about her students.
Professor Bingham is a really sweet lady, and her class isn't hard as long as you go to class. Attendance is really important to this professor and you will not pass if you skip often. She is really strict about significant figures but is always there to help during lab if you need. Lab never took the whole time, and I would take again.
Chem Lab was actually really easy with her. Her and her TA's are very helpful. The midterm and final are really tough but she clearly tells you what will be on them
She is an alright professor. The work gets tedious and most of the assignments are done in groups. Not my favorite class, probably not anyone's favorite class.
This class wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Ms. Bingham was always willing to help plus there are teacher's assistants in there to help as well.
She is a tough grader and her test are hard
She is NOT helpful during labs and you have to teach yourself! She does not round grades and she does not help if you go into her office hours! I haven't made a C in 4 years until now! AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Professor Bingham is super helpful and clear when it comes to the labs. She is willing to help you until you know the material. Not showing up for lab does cost you 18 points If you miss, so make sure you go or there's no chance of passing.
Very helpful and cares about her students. Labs were fun and easy. Exams weren't bad either.
The class itself is not bad but she only gives two test, the midterm and final. The final was one of the hardest test i have ever taken. My tests in chem lecture were easier than hers. The TAs helped more during the labs than she did. If you are are able to get any other lab professor I would highly advise to do so.
Do the pre lab quizzes and read about the lab before you go. There are usually parts that you can do before to get out early
She's nothing special. I disagree with her attendance policy, but chances are it will have no effect on you. She takes off for small stuff, but its not a big deal. I would not recommend taking her, but there is nothing wrong with her.
The labs were fun and easy, but her tests were hard. I didn't make below a 9.5/10 on each lab, but tests were a different story. They were so detailed and random, and it was almost impossible to have any clue what she would decide to toss on there. Where you sit on the first day matters because that's how she assigns lab partners.
This is my second time taking Bingham. She is always willing to help when needed. There are two tests, the second which is math heavy, making it more difficult but that's for all lab courses. Most lab calculations can also usually be done before class, and that helps to get you out of there faster. I would recommend taking her.
Professor Bingham is very nice and well respected. You can tell she genuinely cares about you passing and getting the labs right. She is very helpful and interactive. She'll walk around asking if you need any help. There are pre-lab quizzes every week the night before lab. Make sure to do good on the midterm because the final is really hard.
No. Anyone but her. You're stuck with the person you sit next to on the first day as your lab partner. If your lab partner shows up, you're stuck with someone who's lab partner dropped the class for a reason. Don't do it. She's as unkind an unapproachable as you can get. She has no personality. If you ask for help, you will get talked down to.
Prof. Bingham was a great lab instructor. She helped the class understand what we would be doing before we began running the experiments, and during the lab she was available to help. We had a midterm and final, but the final only covered the labs done after the midterm.
Professor Bingham is pretty serious about chemistry in her class. She does not play around but if you do your work, you will not have any problems in her class. You must show for every class and do her prelab quizzes.
Bingham is an AMAZING lab professor! She is a picky grader but tells you exactly what she is looking for and doesn't take off much for mistakes. Watch your sig figs! As long as you show up and try on the labs, you will do fine because the TAs help a ton. The midterm and final are easy as long as you follow her study guide. She is amazing.
Bingham is good at what she does. Attend the labs, do the pre-lab quizzes, and study for the midterm and final exam. She's good at explaining the material and the TA's help a lot. I really recommend her
She was very helpful in understanding what was going on before we began each lab & provided a much needed study guide for the midterm & the final. We had a pre-lab quiz due once a week. She was a tough grader but gave a lot of feedback. She isn't very approachable but she is very good at her job. Studying for this class is very important!!!
Prof. Bingham is very nice professor who understands that a majority of her students are taking the course just to fulfill a gen ed requirement. Prof. Bingham is nice during labs, just make sure you do the pre-lab quizzes. Be aware who you sit by on the first day, they will become your lab partner.
Out of class quizes every week to prepare for the next lab. Only a midterm and a final and if you don't memorize each lab you will not pass the exams. Labs themselves are easy and fun but the exams will wreck you.
Professor Bingham helps a lot during lab projects. Anytime I need help, I can count of her or the TAs. You have to come to lab as missing 2 will cause a letter grade drop. You get all lab reports back which I suggest using for the exams because they are over what you did in the labs.
She is a very good lab instructor. However, she is kind of rude, the way she talks to you kind of makes you feel a little stupid. But, she was really good at explaining what was going to happen in the lab before we started.
Very easy class if you do the pre-lab work and stay on top of the labs. When she suggests doing something before class, do it! Study the lab sheets before quizzes/exams, they aren't super hard but they are very heavily referenced. She is very straightforward and clear and whatever is written on the board is up there for a reason - write it down!
It is very important that you understand every lab and study for the midterm and final. Weekly quizzes are easy, and each lab report should be a good grade if you follow directions. She will always explain anything you don't understand and there are 3 TA's to help with each lab.
The lab videos were easy to follow and they adapted to an online version of a lab class very well. If your chem lecture teacher and this class weren't on the same topic every week then it was slightly difficult to follow along though. Paying attention to detail is probably the biggest thing. She's very nit-picky, but that's normal for a lab class.
Don't get behind in this class, you will never catch up. This class was miserable for me because nothing you do on your lab reports are good enough. Also, her grading is so inconsistent. I would compare grades with friends and what was wrong for me was right for them. She also had no consideration for the fact that I took this during a pandemic.
Professor Bingham was always willing to answer any questions that I needed or clarified any confusing concepts to me in class. Even though it was online, the videos were pretty easy to follow. She's a really nice lady.
She taught well, and if you have trouble understanding something, there is available help in her class. You have to memorize a few things, and make sure you study! Make sure you also copy everything down she writes on the blackboard and that you listen to her lectures before every lab! Her class isn't too bad, though! It's pretty straightforward.
All of the labs were online this semester, but the videos she recorded were clear and helpful. Study for this midterm and the final, review all of the labs and memorize steps.
Labs are straight forward, and Prof. Bingham is more that willing to help you with the lab work. Make sure that you study for midterm and final, because those tests will make or break your final grade. Prof. comes off as distant and cold, but make sure you get to know her & you won't be sorry!
Professor Bingham grades based on all lab's, prelab quizzes, and two exams (Midterm and Final). The midterm and final count for majority of your grade so those can cause you to not do well. You get multiple attempts on quizzes and she drops your lowest lab and quiz. The tests will determine your grade so be prepared to study for those.
I took her for CHEM1050 lab and it was okay, this being the first time the class was taken had its flaws. Make sure to come to labs and do well on your prelab quizzes. Theres only two exams that are heavy on your grade. She is really good at explaining everything before and throughout the lab.
pretty fun class. attendance IS mandatory for sure. she makes things easy- weekly quiz with 3 attempts and midterm/final aren't too challenging
She explains and put notes on the board before each lab that help a lot. Midterm and final are weighed heavily so do good. She gives you everything you need to succeed. Ask questions if you don't understand.
Shes super clear and helpful. 10/10 would take again. The only thing is shes super strict but besides that shes chill.
She is organized and makes sure you know what you need to do. Weekly quizzes before the lab, but it actually helps you. She sends out reminders and states everything that's important for the lab and writes it all out on the board the day of. Willing to help you and, but you do have to apply yourself. Study for the tests tho. They were hard.
Very tough grader, but had to be for this lab. Overall, she is pretty nice and is willing to help you during lab. Easy to reach over email if needed. Only two exams and they are worth a lot of points so study in advance. Try and do good on the first exam so you have room to make mistakes on the last one as it is hard.
Professor Bingham is very caring and explains how to do every lab before we start. She would often check our lab reports before turning them in to help us get a better grade. Did not have to buy a textbook just print out a lab packet. You have 2 exams in there a midterm and a final and she drops the lower grade of the two.
By far the rudest professor I've ever had. She doesn't give a 10/10 on single lab report unless you have every speck of your work right. Make sure that you round EVERYTHING to the correct percentage/sig fig or else you'll get points taken off. My grade dropped 12 points by missing 2 classes, so make sure you aren't more than 10 min. late/absent.
Honestly don't have anything too bad to say about professor Bingham. She is a VERY tough grader so be sure to pay attention to small details. I would recommend asking classmates or the TA's if you have a question before asking her because she does tend to make you feel inferior. I like her tho.
I had her for chem lab, so not too much teaching going on but she was always great about answering any and all of my questions throughout the lab time. She is super strict about being on time and using proper sig figs (as most chem profs are). Make sure to read the lab report BEFORE lab time--you can leave way earlier and finish faster that way
Professor Bingham teaches a great chem lab! She was 1000 times better to understand than the lecture. Attendance is graded, she gives lab quizzes every week and the exams are based on the labs you did. The professor and the TA are a great help and make sure that your labs are correct before you turn it in. 10/10 recommend taking her!
Professor Bingham was very nice and taught some very confusing subjects in lab very well. There are quizzes each week due before the day of your lab, and can be pretty hard sometimes when we haven't learned how to do it. Midterm is not too bad, but the final extremely difficult and specific. Definitely don't procrastinate
Lots of the other reviews are pretty accurate. Sometimes things can be confusing if the main class hasn't gone over it. Pre lab quizzes can take 10 mins to an hour. Be careful about units and sig figs.
I took Bingham for Chem 1 Lab and she was amazing. Before each lab she explains everything and is very helpful. The teaching assistants are also very kind and helpful. The pre-lab quizzes are fairly easy too and you can find the information in your lab packet. It's hard to not get a good grade in her class.
Professor Bingham is very down to earth and willing to help you understand the material as long as you ask. Attendance is mandatory and there is an online quiz prior to every lab. Her midterm and final are difficult so make sure you keep your previous labs to study.
Professor Bingham's lab is honestly really great. She doesn't have any leniency within doing the labs themselves, BUT she will-if you have good reason and are willing to talk to her- allow you to take an exam that you missed, especially if you are in good standing with her. She may seem harsh but give her some time, I loved her course.
I liked taking this lab. At first she was a little intimidating but she is a great lab teacher. Overall no complaints... definitely do not skip class though.
She does not like to repeat herself. She is not very caring towards her students. Whenever I asked a question, she made me feel dumb, even when the TA did not know either.
She can be very stern when it comes to lab and being on time, but at this point that is every lab instructor in college. She is insanely helpful and is super willing to explain concepts in an easier way than even lecture. I would definitely recommend taking her.
Professor was very passionate and interactive. I could've gotten an A, so that's on me (outside factors). It's a great class and the labs are so much fun.
Have a close attention to detail because she will deduct points for small details.
She was an amazing Lab professor. Make sure you know your TA's names though; she likes to add a question on the midterm as extra credit about the TA's. Make sure you pick a good lab partner because you are with them all semester. Make sure you show up to class on time, she has a system for you to clock into class to make sure you are there on time
She is great about explaining how to complete the labs and also does a great job ensuring you know your background information. She teaches things in a digestible way, and as long as you come to lab every time and do your pre-lab quizzes you should be good!
Professor Bingham is straight to the point + informational. The lab is hard + she can be tough on grading (sig figs are important). There are quizzes before each lab, do them. The midterm + final are hard, don't procrastinate studying for them- they make up most of your grade. TAs weren't super helpful, but make sure to get to know them. Good luck!
I did well because I didn't miss labs, did all the work, and studied insanely hard for exams. It's doable, but I wouldn't take Prof. Bingham if you don't want to feel dumb when you ask questions, mess up, or don't understand material right away. She lacks patience and warmth, but she's very knowledgeable and to the point. Very picky grader as well!
Prof. Bingham isn't the most interesting woman in the world, but she was one I was happy with as my lab professor. With 12 labs and two exams, her class was decided upon those exams sadly. Regardless, her labs were set up and organized, with instructions nicely written on the board for those to refer to. Prepare ahead of time, and you'll be fine.
she was so sweet; she went every every single step before lab, and she answered any questions you had during lab, she would even go over your lab sheet before you turned it in to make sure it was okay. the exams aren't hard if you study all your lab reports before. She is very picky with sig figs, but she doesn't take many points off, only like 0.2
She was a great professor, and made the class really easy to get an A in. You really don't have to have the greatest understanding of the actual chemistry material and you should still be able to make a good grade in the class. 100% recommend.
At first this class was awesome and helped me understand chemistry more but when I asked her a question she would question what I was even doing pointed at my paper and said what is this? My lab partner and I before submitting our lab asked if our final percent was okay and she said yes then proceeded to take points off.
Prof. Bingham is super helpful, and the TA was too. But Prof. herself will answer any questions you have & point you in the right direction or tell you if something is wrong. But know that she is meticulous on grading, esp. on sig. figs, so ask before turning it in. Also helpful during office hours. STUDY FOR THE FINAL. 10x harder than the midterm.
she never helped during the labs. you'd ask her a question and she'd never tell you and would instead tell you how you should know how to do it yourself. she's so unhelpful even the TA would get confused on what prof expectations were.
