Goes through material at a very fast pace. In order to understand the material, read the textbook. Heard the tests she writes are very hard...I'll see when I write it.

A very good professor. She is very enthusiastic about the courses she teaches and is very helpful in helping students understand the content. She does go through materials very quickly and writes fair tests.

Dr. Clark was really nice and she made lectures interesting. The average on the first test was 56% and the final I think was a bit higher...cheat sheet really helped. You can do well if you try. Either go to lecture or read the textbook...you dont have to do both. but do one or the other and you will do fine.

I loved her lectures. Her slides+ lecture combo were AMAZING! Pay attention in class, record lecture, review with slides/notes and DRAW THINGS OUT! I thought it was stupid at first but it truly helped. Cheat sheet - fill it with diagrams. She was wonderful and extremely helpful. She knows her stuff and tried her best to answer all questions asked.

awesome prof definitely knows what she is doing. has class participation, actually answers questions during lecture in a 300+ size class. the way she organizes the course is just very well done imo.

Best Prof in my first semester of university! She was enthusiastic and had a very good understanding of the subject. Answers questions mid lecture in 300+ classes and does everything in her power to help you succeed. Neither the textbook nor lectures are necessary for a good mark(obviously they help) as she tests the exact information on the slides

Dr Clark was a very good prof. Her slides are very helpful. If you miss classes just go over the lecture slides and read over those parts in the text book and you will be fine.

i think she is a good lecturer. she definitely knows her stuff and is enthusiastic to teach and loves her subject. i personally did not benefit from the slides. the only thing that kept me going to class were the clicker questions. i didnt have much appreciation for the in-class activities either felt they were not necessary. the text book sufficed

She's a fantastic teacher. Explains everything very well, really knows her stuff and uses examples. Her tests are also very easy. Definitely take her class if you can.

She was a great lecturer, make sure you pay attention in her lectures. Try hard on the midterms because the TA's marks your labs hard.

You have to go to her lectures in order to grasp the concept properly to apply it in her tests, I barely went to class and almost failed..also need to read through the textbook pages she specifies BEFORE the lecture or you'll never understand what she's talking about and she doesn't slow down. Very rude when approached one on one though

Her lectures are super clear and it may seem like there's no point going to class sometimes, but u should go!! I didn't near the end of the semester and really did not do well on the final exam. Her exams are much harder than she makes them out to be in lecture.

Dr. Julie Clark was amazing! Her slides were very clear and helpful especially when studying for midterms. I wouldn't say attending her lectures are mandatory, however if you want that A I suggest you do. Having Julie Clark as a first year Bio prof was a great way to start my first year at York.

She is very clear and knows how to teach first year students! Her lectures are so easy to understand that they may seem boring but they are very helpful. her tests are easy since she doesn't ask trick questions, but she does make you think! read txt book, go to class and you should get an A. Shes the best Prof I've had so far!

She is really great. She posts the slides on line. The tests were really fair. Final was a bit harder but wasn't too hard. You can definitely get an A if study.

Interesting lectures, enough to keep me awake. Very nice and helpful prof. If you have a question just go to her after class and shes tries her best to answer it. Easy tests, just go to lectures and study a bit. Dont waste your time with the textbook, just do lectures.

go to class, print the notes before class and write what she is saying, her tests are m/c but they aren't knowledge based questions but application based, meaning you gotta take the facts of the textbook and apply it in a given situation. Make sure you read the Learning Objectives, and answer them.

She is a very good biology teacher and her lectures are interesting. Her tests can be tricky but overall fair if you study. An A is manageable if you do the required work. I have nothing bad to say about Julie Clark, she was great!

Very enthusiastic. Tough test questions though, mostly application based. If you want to succeed in this course, you will have to put in a large amount of effort. Very approachable if you have questions. Keeps lectures interesting and does her best to answer all questions asked in class. Not an easy course, though.

Dr. Clark presents rather complex concepts clearly. She knows what she is talking about, but can be condescending, patronizing or otherwise anti-social with talking to students. Make sure you understand every concept she mentions since exams are entirely from lecture, don't memorize the book.

One of the best profs that I have. She is approachable and understanding. Lectures are clear and usually backed up with videos to help you understand. She posts all the lecture notes online and is super organized. Keep up with the notes and you'll do well. I definitely recommend her!!

There's not much wrong with her. She talks quite fast, which can sometimes make note taking hard. She's passionate about bio. She's really helpful go to her office hours if you need help. Read your textbook. If you decide not to come to lecture, you must marry your textbook. DO YOUR READINGS ON TIME. I suggest reading the section before lecture.

She is just my fav prof, all you need to do to get an A is to study the textbook and clicker questions, as well as doing some sample tests. Attendance is not required, but if you do the better you will do in the course since she is a great lecturer.

She is a very fair professor and shows lots of joy in her work. The course is fundamentally based off of the lectures in class and the textbook readings are necessary to do well. Most of her lectures are her reading off the slides and there are sometimes questions on midterms that are based off of reading material not mentioned in class.

She's overall a great professor in terms of her teaching style, BUT out of my 4 years of undergrad I have never in my life been clustered with HARD multiple choice questions. Needless to say ones that are so tricky. I studied my butt off for her course and failed. Needed only 2% for a D, but she rejected. In this instance I cannot graduate in fall.

Dr. Clark will seem hard if you procrastinate and do not keep up every week. If you are stuck, then GO SEE HER!! You will not regret it. Extremely accommodating, but wants you to be independent at the same time in your studies. Approachable & kind. However, pay close to the LOs and the lecture slides. Try to teach everything to a friend or someone!

Was a pretty good Prof, but lectures weren't very 'in order'. She takes a lot of time going over little things that probably wont matter and didn't finnish the course on time but the vast majority of test material came from the text. Reading quizzes are great ways to review. Course is a big highschool review so not hard.

Very good at explaining concepts, and makes things interesting. Pre-reading textbook quizzes were a pain (we were expected to read multiple chapters in one weekend, which no one has time for). Asks clicker questions, which I found really helpful with applying what you know/seeing if you really understand the subject.

She is a very detailed lecturer but none of the stuff she says is different from the textbook so you can skip class and read the textbook and pass. Her slides do have some useful diagrams though. She really cares and wants to help if you don't understand the material. Her exams can have some tricky questions.

Good teacher with enthusiasm for the course. If you do the readings you can fully understand the class. If you work best with organized teachers and, you should be aware that this class and slides were not very organized; we would do topics and come back to them, so you don't get a clear picture. You have to read and read and read for this class.

Amazing prof and lecturer. Clear speaker & although topics bounce around, it makes sense why we revisit topics. The course I hated. Test times are too short unless you've memorized the material. Final exam was brutal! 90+ MC questions + short answer in 2.5 hrs. Very demanding course: quizzes, labs, in class participation. Too much for 1st yr course

Great prof, gives clear explanations and posts all the slides online, always available to answer your questions after class. Her exams are fair in the sense that they cover what was discussed in class, not details from the textbook. Study her slides and ATTEND if you learn better this way. Her lectures are simply amazing. The best prof for Cell Bio. MC questions were straightforward, short answers were harder. No cheat sheets or textbook required, her slides and lectures are sufficient.

Loved prof Clark. She is a great lecturer, very clear, explains text material during lecture in a way you understand. Has timed pre-lecture quizzes, pre-exam quizzes, so she makes you work for the grade. But A/A+ is doable. Yes memorize material for the 1 hr exams. Final was hardcore so STUDY way in advance. Use the Learning Objectives so useful!

Dr. Clark will make you love biology! She is very smart and explains the complicated concepts in a simple way so that everyone can understand, she makes the classes interesting. Dont worry about the reading quizzes, its part of the course and has nothing to do with the prof. Take this course with Dr. Clark, you wont regret it. She is the best!

She is an okay prof. The lectures are really fast-paced but seems really excited and interested in the course. She really wants everyone to do well. Her tests are mainly multiple choice and are very similar to her lectures. She can be known to say important things that arent on the lecture slides. Take note of what clicker question was right!!

Lectures were all over the place and unorganized. Material wasn't difficult, but jumping from one topic to another made this class much harder than it actually is. i.e We started a topic in a lecture, and we came back and finished it 1 month later. I personally didn't like this style of teaching, but if you do then I encourage you to take her class

Couldnt ask for a better prof! Dr. Clark is the BEST bio prof ive had so far. She has the best teaching style and she explains everything in detail. If you go to class, youll learn everything from her lectures, thats how amazing she is!

Although the textbook isn't really required, you should definitely still do the readings. Dr. Clark is super kind. Many people consider her lectures to be all over the place, but I appreciate she tries to tie together many aspects of the course to relate to a single topic. When studying focus on the learning outcomes and the slides those are key.

Dr. Clark is by far the best professor I've had so far. She made BIOL1000 easy to understand and striaghtforward. She did assign weekly reading quizzes which were more annoying than tough, but helped with learning. Spends a lot of time on iClkeirc questions for understanding and even reteached material if a majority of the class gets it wrong

Professor Clark is a great professor and the perfect intro to university level biology. She explains everything clearly with great analogies and her classes are a lot of fun. Make sure to do your readings or you may be a little confused in class. Go to class and an A+ is easily attainable.

Her teaching is ok. The only thing why I gave her bad comment is that she made the midterm very hard (and very hard to understand the question). And the final exam, I think it's not that bad, at least I can pass. BUT the grade was terrible as a result.

She is teaching clearly. Even you were still passing the course before final exam, then she might fail you as a result. Her exam actually wasnt that bad, but she did give me a horrible final grade. And she chose to de-enroll me from BIOL1001, even I was already halfway through to finish. Just because she marked really tough and marked slowly

Dr Clark is ok. But she makes the midterm and final very difficult, even sometimes cannot understand what the questions are asking about. Especially during COVID19, everyone gets stressed out, still making tough questions on both. Course materials are not that bad, just the evaluation sucks. Be careful of it!!!!!!!!!!

The worst first-year class I took is with her. I really respect her, but the way she teaches is not good. She gives extremely hard questions that are impossible to solve, and she does not give part marks. I do not recommend taking a class with her (online class) she makes it x8 harder.

Many people said that she is a good professor of Biology and her tests are fair. But I didn't anything about it, she made the tests really difficult and failed students when students were taking BIOL1001 almost close to the end of the course, then kicked the students out of BIOL1001. TERRIBLE AND WASTE STUDENT'S TIME, also MONEY

She teaches ok. But tough tests and exams, questions are never seen in the past. Hard to understand the test questions. You cannot see what you did wrong on your tests and exams, then she can fail as many as she wants. She can helps you to review the grading, but you cannot review by yourself AT ALL

Doesn't care anything about students, making the test much much harder than normal. Extremely tough evaluation with extremely tough grading. Doesn't care how it hurts your GPA, never did the bell-curve at the end. And the homework and in-lecture activities only worth very little of the courses.

she is just pretty inflexible when it comes to helping students. Her exams are pretty hard, does not matter how much you read or even go to youtube or khan academy to learn extra and understand deeper, her exams are ridiculously hard. I got full marks on my labs by had to drop the course because my grades would not go any higher.

Her tests/exams were ridiculously difficult, whatever how you study and how deep you learn, and whatever did you use Khan Academy to help you. The content was not organized well, she could talk about cellular respiration topic then suddenly jumped to enzyme function. Better to escape from her section otherwise you may cry

all of the positive ratings seem like they're about a completely different person! julie gives out tests/exams with impossibly hard questions and has a terrible marking scheme that justifies you losing marks even if the question was answered correctly. please never take her class and save your gpa.

Never take any class with her. Her lectures are useless and disorganized. No matter how much you study you will not get good mark on a test because questions on test is nothing you saw before. She will say how important learning outcomes are. Mark these words: Nothing you will see on test will be in some way related to learning outcomes.

Makes learning during COVID time very stressful. Never ever take a class with her unless you want to fail. Does not give any practise questions, tests are not even a tiny bit related to what she says in lecture. Worst professor ever.

I see a lot of bad reviews about her. Honestly, she is good at explaining compared to other profs, but a tough marker. Here is how you can do well: write down everything she says in lectures, cross reference what she says with the textbook, write your notes based on the learning outcomes, and write as much as you can during responses on tests.

Having courses online during the pandemic is already very stressful. And she is making it worse, tests questions are never discussed in lecture recordings or even textbooks. Also marking slowly and toughly. Doesn't matter how deep you learn, or using other resources, and her word used on the tests were difficult to understand.

I am seeing a lot of negative reviews for Julie but she is such a great professor! She explains things very clearly in lectures and makes everything very easy to understand. She also holds Q&A sessions to provide extra help. If you put in the effort, you can get a very good grade in the class. I highly recommend taking this course with Julie!

She's teaching fine, but it doesn't mean her students will be happy with her. She and the Bio Department don't care how it hurts the student's heart and the GPA. The only words can be commented on in the evaluations, RIDICULOUS, AWFUL, and some dirty words

I had Dr. Clark for first year Biol 1000, and after reading her reviews I was slightly scared to be in her class. However, after being in her class for almost the full semester now I'm very pleased with her as a teacher and a human being, if you join her Q and A's you can see she truly cares and she' tries her best to make sure everyone understands

She's very good at explaining and an amazing prof. The only reason why I would never take her again is that her tests are so hard that they make me question if she is actually a good professor. The questions hardly relate to what's covered in lecture, if at all. 10/10 professor but -5/10 tests. :(

I agree shes a great professor, explaining materials clearly. But I do believe everyone gave her bad comments was about her test/exam/grading. And yes her test was ridiculously hard, and cannot be determined in limited times. Always unrelated to the lecture. Also marked very slowly and did not bell-curve much.

She is a hard grader and very inconsiderate when try to approach her for any concerns you might have. The course is so disorganized with so many assignments and different due dates. I mainly relied on self-teaching, Khan-academy, and her lectures too. She's definitely not the greatest and I will not be taking a class with her again.

Her lectures are great and easy to understand but her tests pertain to nothing she teaches in her lectures. She puts the hardest of the hardest questions on her tests, they're all trick questions. Even when you put the right answer with the right amount of detail, she still finds something wrong with it and takes off marks! Horrible

She and Paula Wilson are the worst professors I have ever had in my life. They're not bad in teaching and explaining sometimes, but extremely terrible in marking and making test questions. Which were impossible to determine the answers to several questions within an hour of duration

She sounds bored while she's lecturing. The tests were complete bullcrap. I have my exam in a couple days and a part of me doesn't even want to study because I know it wont be anything like what we learned in class. Save your GPA and mental stability and avoid her.

I want to make this review very in-depth before the exam. There are many things wrong with this professor and this course, Tests are weighted WAY too heavily & graded too harshly, they do not give individual feedback, and finally, everyone who I've talked to about this course is miserable. Then again, I got an A without any previous Biology courses

she is great at explaining and her lectures are pre recorded so you can watch them anytime, but her tests are hard and you need more time to figure out the answer. She does not give personal feedbacks and her TA's mark really tough.

Everyone is already stressed out during covid19, professorsss and this course would make it more worse. They make extremely hard test/exam questions, and told us to complete within an hour. And gave us tons of work to do every single week, which brings you totally crazy, and those works never guarantee you can pass the course. AWFUL

Lectures explain concepts perfectly. Only used textbook for extra help if I needed. Takes many questions during office hours , explains them in depth until you understand. Quiz questions are easy-medium difficulty multiple choice. Tests were open book, mainly application questions, not too difficult to answer if you can apply your knowledge

Clear, concise, and informative lecture recordings. She is passionate and knowledgeable and is willing to go above and beyond during Q&A sessions. Tests are application based but are NOT impossible if you maintain a consistent work ethic. Do not expect to fly by with memorizing instead of understanding. Stay on track and you will do very well.

Amazing prof w/ GREAT detailed lectures. If you watch all lectures & keep up w/ the tb readings from the given schedule you will be absolutely fine. The tests are completely doable (especially the mc) bc the q's all come directly from the material covered in the lectures/tb. Three 15% tests, exam 25%, labs 20%, weekly quiz 10%. TAKE BIO WITH HER!

I took her in the summer, she totally made me cry as I tried very hard and she failed me. Then I retake again on Fall with different prof, I also tried very hard and I passed finally. The testing methods are different from both term. Summer term Julie Clark made it totally sucks, ridiculously difficult.

Dr. Clark is a decent professor, you really have to put in the work in this course in general in order to be successful. Its difficult because the testing is very different than high school biology testing which should be expected. Overall she was quite decent and you can tell she enjoys the course but its hard since everything is online.

Dr. Clark is an amazing professor. She has organized lectures in which she clearly explains concepts. If you reach out to her either through email or Q and A sessions, she will do her best to help you out. Overall, if you stay on top of your work, study and engage in your learning, you will get a good grade in her course.

She cares about her students? Sorry I cant see that, what I experienced during summer was the most difficult exam I wrote, and the grade hurt my gpa the most. She made the difficult exam, also marked very tough, she kept giving you 0 whatever you wrote something make sense or not. I would highly recommend to avoid her for online course.

I regret taking her class was my worst class ever her lectures are monotone and she marks unfair in her midterms the exam was heavy and irrelevant, theres too many quizzes and her slides have pictures on it only. Getting an A in this class was the hardest thing ever

Dr. Clark is an amazing professor! She explains difficult topics in an understanding way in her lectures. She is easy to reach out to to get any questions answered; has lots of office hour Q&A zoom sessions. Her tests require you to apply the knowledge you have learnt to different scenarios, rather than just regurgitating it. 10/10 prof!!

She is not a good professor. The online course during the summer was poorly organized. Her tests barely related to her lecture recordings, and her weekly quizzes and lecture activities are a waste of time. Labs were still okay, but the lecture component was very poorly taught. Felt like I was not learning anything. Do not take it with her.

Course is lecture heavy but if you take good notes in her class then there isn't any reason for you not to do good. Try to understand the material rather then memorize it because her tests largely test your ability to apply knowledge rather then regurgitate it.

The exams are far more difficult than the labs or the quizzes. It's a waste of time and money. I got all A's on the labs, I do the readings, and listened to the lectures and I'm still confused during the exam or rushing through the exam because there's not enough time with so many long/short answer questions. I study and do the work, I'm not lazy.

She puts a lot of effort into her lectures and provides a lot of detail, but the tests are hell. You better know your stuff from top to bottom, because there's no time to look back at your notes/textbook during the midterms and final exam. Lecture heavy, lots of info presented during the lecture, but if your Grade 12 Bio is strong, this is just a bit more depth to that. Definitely make sure to study the material and know everything well. The only tests were more challenging than expected, but still doable.

Very good professor, who clearly explained concepts in the course. I really enjoyed her teaching style since she explained everything clearly. People below say her tests are too hard, but I think this is because they don't have a strong grade 12 background. She's a great prof.

I had Julie for BIOL 3060 and she was amazing. She allowed hand written notes for the midterms which was pretty helpful and the midterms were really fair in my opinion. She went through every concept in a way that I could understand really well and she also is great at breaking complex concepts down and explaining them in more simple ways!

Tests care graded very harshly,and no clear feedback given to improve on the next test, tests are made to be difficult -ie-not enough time or space to answer the questions, no clear criteria provided in advance for the lab reports. Teaching style-Okay, if a grade hadto be given on teaching it would be C-, pass but could be better.
