i had her for "bio1b lab," it is an extremely difficult class and you have to stay on top of your stuff. but if you can i would highly suggest taking dr. constable over the other TA's. she holds review sessions b4 the practicals, and will give u hints on what has been on previous practicals
Biology 1B lab is extremely hard trying to memorize everything, but Dr. Constable made the lab much easier, so we could understand. She explains material very concisely and she grades fairly. Just study and you should be fine.
She is amazing! By far the best lab teacher I have ever had. She is more than willing to help and answer any question you may have. She is incredibly nice and approachable. She would always give away a few questions that were going to be on the lab practical and hold study sessions. I HIGHLY recommend her. I wish she could teach all my Bio classes!
Professor Julie Constable is a super sweet lady. She teaches at Reedley, so she does evening class here. There are clicker quizzes, like only 2-4 and then you go into lecture. During lecture, she'll show video links based on the chapter. The exams aren't too hard, just study the power points from lecture. It's posted on Blackboard. Overall, GOOD!
Before this class, I loved biology. The tests are death. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't get better than a D. This class is an intro class meant to scare students who aren't sure of their bio major. Be ready to study or retake this class.
She has to be the easiest biol 10 professor ever. She is really sweet and you don't even have to go to lecture because her test are from the powerpoint which she posts on blackboard.Highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this class was super easy. all you really need to do is study the powerpoints that she lectures from which are on blackboard and you'll do great on the tests. you don't need to show up to class but you can if you want. do the online mastering biology and study for the tests using the powerpoints and you should get an A.
super easy class. puts all the powerpoints on black board. i only ever went for the test. read tru the powerpoints and the tests should be easy. also gives a free ten points on each quiz
Dr. Constable was a wonderful professor. Although attendance is not necessary since she posts the notes on blackboard. The exams are pretty easy but remember to do masteringbiology because it can affect your grade quite a bit if you do not do it. An 85% is an A for this class due to the weird grading in the brochures for lab. Easy class overall.
This class was pretty easy. The notes are posted on blackboard and the exams are pretty easy. An A in Biology 10 is at an 85% due to the lab grades being funky. But overall an easy class.
Awesome professor!!!! Got an easy in this class and its a science class.85%=A and 75%=B in her class. Dr.Constable is very nice and helpful and her test are easy
Easy class. Notes are posted on blackboard and attendance is not mandatory. Just remember to do mastering biology for the homework.
Best Biol 10 professor at Fresno State
Took her last year her class was so easy i actually went up to her after the exam and told her to make it harder! Just show up to class do your iclicker questions and leave everything is on blackboard. Everything you need to know is on the ppt. Dont bother with the book.
Chill professor!!! Honestly the lowest grade you can get in this class is B. Just do everything she assigns and you'll pass with an A(which is an 85%-100%)!!!
very nice lady, enjoy every moment in the class. Give out a lot of extra credits and is very helpful. Is willing to help any students who needs. Would recommend this prof.
I only went to class on Exam dates! All I needed was the book, because I studied every chapter on my own. The mastering Biology is so easy too. All you do in class is review the chapters, she gives no time to write things down since you were suppose to read it before hand. So you don't even have to attend, but don't get lazy!!
Has a great curve especially because she knows that not everyone is interested in the subject. Relaxed and uses iclicker for attendance.
This class is sooooo easy! The book is totally not required in my opinion since she does a great job already. Her power points are all you need. Just attend class for clicker points. The tests are cake, and she'll even drop one test! Definitely worth taking.
If you study for her tests you will get an A. Her grading scale is curved so it is easier to get an A also. I took Griffiths for lab and he was easy too.
SHe is super nice but her test a crazy hard. make sure to get an easy lab teacher and do all of the hw she has for the online version of the book, trust me it pays off. There are four test including the final and she may drop one for you if you need it for a passing grade. Oh and I only say go to class because everyday she does clicker questions.
She's one of the nicest professor's I've had! She is very clear and kind. She'll help you out if you ask her. Her instructions are clear, going to class is kind of pointless though because she goes over the notes too fast to where you cant copy they down. All powerpoints are on blackboard though. 3 tests, lowest gets dropped. Overall great teacher!
Never went to class just studied for tests, she provides study guides. Not that hard if you can pick up information and retain it.
Sweet lady, extremely knowledgable. She was very lenient and understanding. Lectures are just that, the entire class is her lecturing but attendance is not mandatory. Study and show up for the TESTS and there's no way you will not pass.
This class is super easy. Attendance was not mandatory though I recommend going anyways for clicker points(based on the reading)even if you dont take notes, I never did. Go to midterm review days and you will do fine on the midterms. Final was optional if you got a B or above grade on all 3 midterms. Overall great professor highly recommended.
Highly recommend taking Bio 10 with Constable. Easy class, and attendance isn't mandatory. Super easy to understand, and with minimal effort, you can get an A.
Wonderful person prof. C she is! The class itself is structured very loosely, taking topics randomly here and there. Nevertheless, the prof. does her best to make her students learn and works with them individually even with such a large class of 270 students.
Took her class last year she was super easy and very nice attendance was not mandatory and I never came to class besides test days because she posted lectures online there were hw on pearson easy and tests were easy too
This class was so easy! i attend everyday but did not pay attention and got over 100%. she offers tons of extra credit
Excellent Professor she really does care that you learn the material super easy class you don't hardly have to pay attention to get a good grade and on top of that the study guides are basically the test. Take this professor your gonna take Bio 10!
This teacher is really nice, she offers extra credit (20 points). The homework is not hard it just take time. I did not read my book and still passed the class. Do good in your lab and you will pass the class. I got Ds on all my test and and B on the final. GREAT TEACHER
easy class, just make sure you have an iclicker. Class isn't really mandatory but there are easy points you can get just by showing up for class. I don't think I got much out of her lectures, but If you read and do bio portal you are set, but then again I actually like biology. ;)
great professor. She offers around 20 extra credit points through bio portal. 3 midterms and the final. attendance isn't mandatory, but if you go you can get easy iclicker points. Homework isn't hard.
I'm lucky to have taken her for both lab and class. She's really sweet and nice and I think she gave me a higher grade than I deserve! :D LOVE HER TAKE HER!!! btw the class was interesting! I like the health lecture but I disliked bio portal even though it was easy. :D
Professor Constable's Bio 10 is a very easy and informative class. She posts her class powerpoints online, you get "clicker points" for participating in class, and she provides a study guide. The tests are multiple choice, and some of the harder questions she repeats so you can try two different answers. Really nice teacher. Great class.
Constable is so sweet and so easy and helpful! Take this class to get Bio 10 out of the way. The only downside is the fact that people who don't care to participate talk non stop and its frustrating.
Hands down easiest class. Show up for iclicker points (quite a bit). Textbook is whatever since you can view it online, its only needed for the online codehomework. Grading scale is lower than you'd expect. Tests are exceptionally easy. Lab component is most important. Personally didn't care for the class.
Only 3 exams and all other work and quizzes are done online. She offers a lot of extra credit! Great teacher. She does give iclicker quizzes in almost every lecture so it's important to go to class.
She is easy and straight forward. The study guides are the same questions for the test so if you study enough, the tests are fairly easy. The only thing that is tricky is the multiple choice because two answers may work but you have to choose the best answer. The homework is really easy and done online.
Dr. Constable is very sweet & passionate on what she teaches. A lot of her lectures are pretty straightforward & not too difficult, which they do help on the tests. She does give out iClicker quizzes for participation as well as extra credit. You'll be amazed with what you'll learn from this course!
She is a great teacher and passionate on what she teaches. I would recommend this class. bio lab is part of the class including the grade 4 midterms and 1 final ( consist of all the previous test) hw and quizzes are done online. extra credit for participation going to si session are helpful class is not mandatory but it is better to go
LECTURES ARE LONG AND NOT VERY INTERESTING. SHE IS THOUGH PASSIONATE ABOUT THE COURSE. HER STUDY GUIDES ARE NOT HELPFUL. EXAMS ARE HARD IF YOU DO NOT STUDY ENOUGH.
Proff. Constable is awesome! She's really passionate about the subject & is always filled with energy when teaching. If you're the type that likes a proff to respond to emails & update grades daily/weekly then take her! She's very organized and super nice. My advice is to not buy the book and just listen to lectures + do the SG.
Best professor I've had at Fresno state so far! Very passionate about Biology and knows her stuff! She's such a sweetheart and will go beyond and above to help her students. The exams call for ALOT of studying, no joke. There are study guides. Lectures are long but she clarifies everything! I recommend and would take again!
Professor Constable is awesome. Curves the grade scale so an "A" is 85% or higher and a "B" is 75% or higher and so on. 3 midterms and 1 final lowest score gets dropped. I obsoletely love going to her class cause she is so passionate about course and she is very knowledgeable. She gives stud guides for all her test. Recommend taking her lab. TAKE!
I enjoyed her personally. She made me want to listen to her lectures. She is so genuinely kind and easy to relate to. She made sure we all knew what was going on in her classes. She genuinely cares about her job and students. Go to class! It is so worth going
Sweetest, nicest teacher on campus. Really passionate about what she's teaching and makes the material easily understandable. Curves the grade so you only need 85% as an A. Not much to do in lab, just attend and you'll pass. 3 Midterms and one final, one midterm dropped. You also do 5 current event summaries, but only 100 words each. Easy class!
one of the best professors at state! shes so sweet and her lectures are interesting, such an easy A if you actually study and put a good amount of effort into her class!
She's super enthusiastic and very passionate about what she teaches. Personally, her lectures are hard to follow along to and it can drag on. She does give out study guides but they don't really relate with the test. It's an okay class.
Best Professor Ever. The test are super easy as long as you study/ memorize the information on the study guide. Super easy class and lecture is interesting, she plays videos and images to help you comprehend the material. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
She's one of the most caring and most passionate instructors at Fresno State. Will go out of her way to help you in anyway. Gives out tons of extra credit and curves the class to where if you get an 85% overall, it's considered an A. 3 midterms, 1 final (cumulative). 2 writing assignments in lab.
This class is a piece of cake. Labs are quick and easy, usually end early. Show up to lecture for participation points. They'll save you for when you only spend 2 hours studying right before exams. Test questions are not straight forward and are trickier than expected. Just show up, go to lab, do activities, online tests. Anyone can get an A
She's REALLY cares for her students. I missed the first day of lab (don't do this!) & she helped me to contact my lab TA to resolve it. She also emailed me during the summer & brought to my attention that I didn't do the online modules (didn't know I had to) that are exam based, so she granted me an extension to complete them for an A in the class.
Very sweet lady, however she does ramble during lectures. The class was on a curve so an 85% was an A. Uses TopHat for participation, so it helps to read the night before. Overall easy class, but if you can't stand boring lectures don't take her.
I came into this class having high expectations for Julie but honestly, she has been a good teacher. It is just up to you to read and go to to lectures.
Very helpful and kind to students. Also very accommodating to busy schedules.
might just be im not a good science person but it was tough. but lab helped raise my grade up alot or else i would have failed.
Prof. Constable is pretty cool. Just pay attention to the lecture and check blackboard for the work. Don't miss out on the quizzes. She goes through the lectures quickly, because there's a lot to cover. The tests are pretty tough, so study hard, and go to SI if necessary.
Make sure you do good on test! not a hard class but you do need to do the work. she is so very sweet and passionate
Rarely used textbook, but do need access codes for Connect use. Easy lectures, as long as you have great study habits you'll pass with an A
Took her both both bio 1b lecture and lab. She was awesome. Everything rational. Grading fair. some extra credit in lecture. Read the text book use her powerpoints and you'll be fine. Lab is difficult, memorization heavy. Stay on top of lab.
Prof. Constable is very passionate about what she is teaching. Make sure to study off the study guides! It is exactly what is going to be on the test. Recommend taking if you love learning about animals!
Julie is a great teacher and doesn't overwhelm her students with a ton of work. Basically if you show up to class and lab, study the Powerpoint slides, do the online homework and do her study guides you'll be on the way to an A. We had 3 tests, 1 final, 4 100 word summaries, online homework about 10-15 assignments and a 2 hour lab once a week.
i had her for lecture and lab. she's great! just go to class and do the homework and you will be fine
Julie is a AMAZING professor, I had her for BIO1B lecture and Lab. Her lectures are well structured and interesting. Participation/attendance is worth like 15% so GO to class. Her grading scale is great, an A in the class is a 85% and a B is a 75%. There is alot to understand in this class so reviewing/studying her PowerPoints for exams is a must.
Julie Constable is the most understanding professor ever! She will work with you to turn in late or unfinished assignments, & instead of having one big midterm, she broke it up into 6 smaller quizzes! If you cheat in her class, I have no respect for you because she really goes above and beyond to help her students succeed in the class.
She is the best lecturer ever. I thought I would hate this class but she makes it so interesting and fun! She is very understanding and really cares about her students. She wants you to pass! she is not out to get you! If you put forth the effort and A is easily achievable
The only complaint I had is we had so much to cover in such little time, so sometimes it felt like the lectures were rushed and it was hard to keep up. But, you just need to study on your own. Her lectures and textbook help the most, don't rely on the study guide too much. She went easier on us with the last test and offers extra credit which helps
Solely depends of powerpoint lectures but still read your book coz its very helpful! She is okay but there is a lot of work. The grading system is hella curved so there is no dropped tests and no curve on each test. Always show up in class for attendance and participation. She makes her own tests which are hard.
She is a good instructor for both lab and lecture. Sometimes a little bit disorganized but overall she really cares about her students and wants everyone to do well. She offers extra credit, make sure to go to class so you don't miss out on those opportunities. 3 midterms, one midterm was online, as well as one lab practical being online.
Totally amazing!!! Gives extra credit when she knows the class isnt doing well. Outlines study guides for each final. Totally accommodating too. Prof. Constable is ah-mazing! And this is coming from someone who hates science.
I had Dr. Constable for both lab and lecture. She is very sweet and caring, and I can say that she really does go the extra mile for her students. Both lab and lecture are 100% memorization. Can be difficult but if you work for it you could definitely get an A.
This class is completely memorization. The information itself isn't hard, there's just way too much of it. The grading policy of in class questions and homework is very confusing. Homework software sucks. She's really nice, just very unorganized. If you're good at memorizing, this class with be fine.
Really nice, graded by a lot of stuff, easy grader on everything except exams but she drops one of those. put in fair amount of effort for A, or chill and easyyy B
When taking this class, I felt like a failure at first because the tests were very difficult and often did not coincide with the material taught. Though Julie did not help much during office hours, she offers extra credit and doing those helped me with the tests. Just be prepared to study a lot and your grade by the end will surprise you!
Dr. Constable is very sweet and caring. She makes her lectures easy to understand and doesn't bombard you with unnecessary information. Tests can be a bit difficult if you don't study, but are still fairly straightforward. Dr. Constable also gives out a good amount of extra credit.
I did not want to take this course but as a bio major I had to. She surprisingly made the course interesting and enjoyable. She takes attendance on top hat, she gives everyone in class enough time to answer so your best bet is to just show up. She is so nice. Got to office hours If you need help. She truly was an amazing professor.
Great professor. Uses a point-based grading scale. Only need an 85% in the class to get an A. Hw is done online and does not give leeway for any points missed. This means you have to do your best to get all the questions correct. She uses Top-Hat for attendance and for points from questions she asks in class.
The textbook is free and can be found on OpenStax. She provides PowerPoints and study guides on BlackBoard. Occasionally, you have to watch videos, answer questions, and turn them in through BlackBoard. She gives extra credit, which is highly highly beneficial. Exams are multiple-choice with a couple short free-response.
To do well on exams, make the effort to study ahead of time instead of cramming last minute. Read the textbook if you have time and use the lab manual to study for lecture exams. Look over the PowerPoints and study guides since the exams are based on these.
Prepare your mind & body for a tiring semester of Bio. Lecture is not difficult. Whats difficult is finding time to study & memorize the info while studying & memorizing for the quizzes in lab while finding time to take pics of the tree you must observe throughout the semester while studying for other science classes while finding time to sleep.
Be sure to pay attention to some of the questions she asks in class, theyre a big hint to what she wants you to focus on in your studying. She also allows a half-sheet of hand-written notes to bring to the exam, but you can only have one side filled. Lab and lecture overlap, so be sure to keep up with lab to do well in the lecture.
Biol 1B is a class that will test your micro-managing abilities. Multiple naps throughout the day and late night studying is beneficial to your overall success in this class. Study well ahead of time, attend SI, utilize the study guides, make a half-sheet of notes that she allows for the exams, form study groups in order to succeed in this class.
Lectures packed with material and PPTs are made available on Bb. If you can take her as the lab instructor, do it! Instructors like her are hard to come across nowadays. One of the friendliest and most knowledgeable professors I have taken. Check on OS periodically because HW is due before LEC. Make sure to read! Want a B? Don't skip class. A >85%
She has plenty of exams, felt like every 2 weeks there was an exam and these exams are not the easiest. Although she does put study guides it can be a hassle. she is very nice and does care for her students. the exams are the only thing that killed me.
This class is a breeze given you attend lecture consistently. There is a generous amount of extra credit on top of a 5% curve; making an 85% and A a 75% a B and so on. Lectures can be dry due to the material itself. Dr. Constable does provide study guides for every exam which are accurate to what shows up on the exam. The final is straight forward.
It is rare to find a professor who loves what they do and see their passion when teaching you, that is what julie does. I had her as my lecture and lab professor, she does try her best to answer any question you may have and aids with possible career paths. This class for me was a very fun experience and made me reconsider why i switched my major
Professor Constable is an amazing prof she made bio very interesting for me and even got me to do outside research on my own about animal bio. She makes lectures really interesting and is always willing to help anyone who needs it.
Lecture was not tough. I highly recommend studying her powerpoints, her studygiudes help but not as much as the powerpoints. Lots of extra credit. Curves homework ALOT. Does tophat for attendance. Hardest part is lab, lab is basically all practicals and its impossible to study for them so just do your best and try to do well on the other hw given.
Her class scared me at first because there is a lot of work. She is very caring and loves to lecture. She gets into all of her topics. Offers a lot of extra credit. Drops lowest test. Im glad i stuck with her class becuase i ended up just fine. I would recomend her!
Exams are easy as long as you study the study guide and her lecture slides. I hardly ever paid attention in class but was able to pass exams because I studied the slides and the guide. Randomly takes attendance from time to time through participation questions. There's online homework, 4 100-word summaries, 1 paper. 3 exams and 1 final. Great prof.
Dr Julie Constable is a great professor. She knows her stuff and she cares about her students. Lecture exams are fair (content mostly from powerpoints). Provides study guides for all tests. Go to SI Sessions and do lots of practice questions because they def help a lot. Also allows you to use 8x5 index cards on tests! Overall great experience.
Dr. Constable was a very nice person and answered any question a student had. We took half our tests in the testing center (so we'd have more time) and she allowed an 8x5 card for help. Go to SI, the mock exams are very helpful! The course is very difficult just because you have to learn lots of info in such a small amount of time.
I am not a science person whatsoever! But her class was not as bad as I expected. We have 3 midterms she lets you drop your lowest midterm. Kind of hard if you don't study. Show up to class, she gives a class code for attendance. I honestly didn't think I would pass this class, Highest score midterm was a C others were F's. TAKE HER!
She was really sweet and caring. She lectured every class, but I found them interesting. She does assignments in class for attendance, so be sure to come. She would give extra credit sometimes, and all the assignments were fairly easy. But make sure you study for the midterms. She gets really specific, but she gives out a study guide to help you.
She's very nice and caring. The class itself isn't hard, but there's just a lot of information being given to you and that can get overwhelming. She asks questions for attendance so make sure you go!!
The amount of material/information is what makes this course challenging (not the material itself). Professor Constable made lectures enjoyable, and did a great job explaining difficult concepts. She was very approachable outside of lecture/lab and always welcomed any questions/clarifications that were asked by students. Highly recommended!
Professor Constable was easily one of the most caring and understanding professors I have ever had. I had her for both lab and lecture, and she is clearly very passionate about the subject. The class is primarily memorizing, if you can do that it is an easy A on the exam. On two of our exams she allowed us to bring an index card of notes.
One of the kindest and fairest teachers! There is A LOT of material covered in this class but Professor Constable is great at explaining things simply. 1 question quiz at the beginning of each class, more than 30 extra credit points, an 85% is an A, and she provides study guides and holds review sessions.
Easily one of the best professors Ive had for Biology and overall. Wayyy better than gousett nothing against her but Constable is in another league. Shes amazing, lectures arent boring, just easy homework on mylab, and if you couldnt attend her zoom meetings you had the option to be in her class asynchronously. Clear criteria on exams too.
Professor Constable is so sweet and will try her best to help you in the course. I recommend being on top of your work because there's a lot of topics you will be covering. Most of the exams will cover the topic you learned in the beginning plus new ones. She assigns homework that are due at the end of the week. There are quizlets that help too.
Very good professor, she is kind and answers any questions you have. She does a mastering quiz during zoom lectures which count as your attendance so make sure you show up for points. She gives extra credit sometimes too. Lecture can be a bit boring because she is behind from what is learned in lab already.
She is an amazing professor, you will a lot from her lectures. It's a fairly easy class since you also got a lab to complete. Take her, I highly recommend it, you will enjoy her class
A queen. Her class and lab was closed and she gave me the code to get in. Lectures are interesting. Tests are online. Shes willing to help you if you ask for it. Communication is a 10/10. course work is super light, easily put this class on the back burner and still got an A.
Professor Constable was one of the easiest classes I have taken so far. Super easy class, 3 exams and a final but all are easy. Highly recommend taking her for bio12.
Not the most favorable professor to take. Extremely rigid, she is not willing to accommodate the students even if it's just for extra credit. poor communication extremely burdening, 5 papers for a 1 unit class of the bio lab just does not make any sense. Half the content was absent for both lecture and lab and it was asked on exams
Usually accessible outside class. Gives interesting lectures and recommend attending if you want an A. Always posts study guides for exams where exam questions are similar to online hw problems. 100% recommend taking her for online lab.
Online class- pretty easy, lots of work but not overwhelming. LAB is easy too. You definitely learn a lot! 3 midterms and a final... open book and notes, not super easy tho. She was great at answering emails because she lives across the country. I totally recommend it!
Highly recommend this professor. Made Bio 1B enjoyable and easy to understand. Lectures and labs are mandatory but interesting. Dr. Constable is very understanding and is willing to help out in any way she can. Highly recommend!
Dr. Constable is AMAZING! She is caring and will help you always! She is a little tough when it comes to exams because sometimes it does not make sense and sometimes she has not covered material she is asking for. She has a lot of requirements for the lab portion of this class. The lab is 1 unit but we had 4 papers to do, 3 lab practicals + work.
Professor Constable was a great professor. Even though it was an online course, she was accessible for Zoom hours and answered any questions you had. She responds pretty quickly to emails as well.
Amazing online biology course however it was hard to see when stuff was due to lack of communication on professor's end. Work was a little to much at times but it is not impoasible. A couple over one hundred points mid terms/exams and one paper at the end of the semester. Would take this class again, you just have to be mindful of assigments due.
Professor Constable was an amazing professor. This course used TopHat which was due weekly, as well as a Canvas Assignment due weekly, and Extra Credit pretty frequently. This was a digital campus course but the professor was always attentive to her messages and helped with any questions. I would highly recommend taking this professor.
Professor Constable is a great professor she's very kind in her emails I really recommend her online bio class!
