Julie is awesome if you get to know her...But she is a tough grader and has a tendency to belittle students! She can really make you feel like an idiot, too! Sometimes you have to wonder if she is really telling the truth... her stories are kinda crazy!
This teacher is horrible, she made untrue,biased statments about people with mental illness and people with physical disabilites.If you don't have the same beliefs as she does, you are stupid and wrong. Her class is easy to pass if you can put up with her

david's drug use and abuse class is about everything but drug use and abuse. if you want some hard facts and/or information, look elsewhere. if you want to be stupified by energy healers, you've got yourself a winner.
This teacher dosn't accept what you think. She is biased and thinks she's done it all. I know more about drugs as a student than she does teaching the class. Do your work in this class and stay on her good side, or you will fail. I got a B and put alot of time in to earn it.

Julie is un fair and does not trust her students. She also has stories that are really crazy and that dont make sense sometimes. She doesnt like to listen or accept anyone elses opinion unless it is exactly like hers. I cnat wait to get out of her class! dont take this class!
Her tests were horrible. She's purposefully misleading and impossibly incoherent. As an English major I almost lost my mind. The material was interesting and useful but that had nothing to do wth her. She's y rude/tactless and rushed to grade student work during every possible moment in-class (presentations/field trips/guest speakers).
This class should have been cool, but she made it horrible. Don't ever take one of her classes!!!!!!

The WORST teacher I've ever had. She's self-absorbed, delusional, rude, and completely biased. Her lectures are overall pushing her opinions/stupid stories and talking down to her students, regardless what they think and have no relevancy to the class/textbook material. In NO way would I condone taking a class with her.

Run away!! She doesnt talk or even mention the book material. She hands you a syllabus and never mentions ANYTHING on it ever again. The rest of the time you HAVE to sit in class and listen to her talk about herself, put down students and tell you your going to die b/c you take meds. or dont hike 5-miles a day. HORRIBLE CLASS- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
She never lectures on material for the test. Be prepared to read a lot. The only thing I really liked about the class was all the extra credit opportunities she hands out to students. It's really easy to get a good grade in the class if you do extra credit.
This is the worst class that i have even taken! You will not learn a single thing. The only thing that you will talk about in class are the mods. Be prepared to only listen to her opinion and she thinks that she is always right. Never argue with her or else you will fail the class! Go JULIE!

Instructor may say something very profound only to say something totally delusional, grandiose and absurd 30 secs later. Obsessed with herself in discussions with class. Likely to berate students in front of whole class. Chastized me for missing class on 9/11/01 because I was stuck far away. Berated me for needing class time off for my job.
I don't really know how to put this woman into words. She is something else. She never discussed test material and would purposely mislead students on tests. She gets off on being impossible to work with. She loves to start crap with her students. I'm not really sure I learned anything. I lucked out on half the tests. I kissed her ass and got a B.
She was VERY rude... loves conflict and is definalty into scientology. She will never help and enjoys laughing and making fun of the students. This class is ALL extra credit based and hands on. As long as you do X-tra credit you will pass with a descent grade!
I loved this class. Just because she has her own opinion about something doesn't mean she is a ****. WHen she has something on her mind she is going to say it. The class is a lot of extra credit because she believes that real world experiences will help you in the long term. I really like her.

I wouldnt take her for a class again. The only thing that i liked about the class was that she had valuable guest speakers come in. Otherwise, I just tried to avoid her to mostly avoid unnessesary confrontation and drama. yes, xtra credit helps!
Julie is the worst teacher I have EVER come across. She is rude, self-righteous, and her tests are immpossible to pass. She forces you to do extra-credit by failing you on tests and then barely gives points on extra assignments. DO NOT take her!!!
I think that I learned a little from this class but NOTHING at all from the text book! She rambles on and on about all this stuff she believes and how it is right and she doesn't care what any one else thinks. If by any chance you have her on your schedule already...Start on extra credit today! Its the only way you can pass!!!!

agree with everything the others said. the first week she said something to the effect of not knowing or caring about you after this class. very blunt and non forgiving. again, thinks she knows it all, you are wrong and you will be dead by brain cancer at the age of 52. on the upside, you can pass the class on extra credit alone.
Although this class was hard and irratating most of the semester - if you take it be prepared to fail the tests and do the extra credit- its what you actually learn from and by making the students do it to pass the class is a weird way of teaching but in the long run a good one. The prof was never mean to me-but not nice to others
This woman is nuts, don't get me wrong, she was an easy teacher, but she's nuts. Some of her first remarks to the class were that she is an ex hippie, doesn't care about you, and doens't care if you succeded because you are not improtant to her. That is NO WAY to start off the semester! I would NOT recommend her to ANYONE!
Took this class only because of MNTC. Hoped it would be helpful toward a medical career. Unfortunately, this prof. didn't teach at all. Speakers were interesting but if you want a useful/ applicable class, this may be a waste of time. If you want to find out about yourself/ family dynamics.. take class.
She has a bad personality, but it is really easy to get an A in her class. Her tests are way weird, but it was a nice change of pace (and can help your grade) Do the extra credit and you will be fine.
Julie is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. She provides helpful insights, deviates away from boring text book lectures, and encourages us to get out in the real world and gain more life experience through her extra credit options. People may not like her because she tells things how they are. Thank god for people like that. A+!!!!!

This woman put me in a bad mood every time I walked into her classroom. Please do not take this class with her if you do not have to. I wish I would have had other options. She takes an interesting class subject and ruins it with her overbearing, opinionated comments. She does not teach you a thing from the book & her tests are hard.
This woman is ridiculous! Sure its okay for her to have her own opinion but she tries to shove it down our throats. She is always contracdicting herself and it feels like she is trying to make us join her little army of hippie pressure point healers. Unless you reiterate exactly what she says she won't let you speak. Don't take this class!

Cool teacher. Likes to lecture A LOT. Goes off subject frequently but is very interesting. She's very opinionated and in-your-face, but over all it was an interesting class. The tests are hard but if you study you'll do fine, and if not then there's always the mounds of extra credit that she gives you. She's tough.
She is really impatient and will fail you on modules if you don?t follow directions to how she wants it. She will not accept anything late but does offer at least 50 pts extra credit. With mostly volunteer work and out of the module packets she hands out the first day, good luck!
This teacher is deep. She has a lot of interesting stories. I dislike the way she tests. Although I do feel the teacher has some favorites. I really like going over the notes for mod 9 because that's when her stories were the most touching. She knows her stuff.
Appears very uneducated and lacks the sophistication one would expect from a college professor. Uses improper English and embarrasses herself and doesn't even realize it. Does not accept differing ideology! Practically forces you to buy speakers books or services!
Julie knows her stuff. She tells it like it is and gets in your face. She does this because she wants you to try new things and learn how to think for yourself. She is amazing! I am taking my third class with her this spring. Tests are hard, but not impossible. Read the book and do the extra credit. Speakers are great too.
Terrible Teacher. It seems as if she is out to get everyone and is not very understanding of other peoples situations. Only cares about herself and her stupid little dog. Would not recommend to anyone. Didn't really learn much in the class is was pointless and a waste of money. My advice just read the book rather than taking the class.
Crazy! She is a good teacher but a little nutz. she is very strict and in your face. Her way or the highway. her Classes are not that bad, do some of the reading and pay attention and you should do fine. Offers significant extra credit and has a lot of interesting guest speakers.

You are required to attend class (more than 2 absences = drop 1 letter grade) but all class she talks about her self. USELESS. She scared me. Multiple times. I don't remember one time she actually "taught" the class. She said and I quote, "You students are lazy and probably quite dumb. Good luck in life." That was so disturbing. What teacher says those things???
This teacher was the worst i have ever had. She was uninspiring, verbally abusive, passive aggressive. She did not teach she simply preached from her own bitter outlook on life. I did not get anything out of the class (this was a stress management class) and ironically it was my most stressful class of which i learned nothing.
She seems like a mean teacher and can be harsh at times, but she provokes students so that we question ourselves and our beliefs. Her tests are REALLY hard! The only problem I had was that she never discussed the test material in class, we were just supposed to read and take the test. But I did think she was an okay teacher. Had her for 2 classes.

I thought she was a great teacher! She was so interesting. She has her opinions but if you think differently she will let you say your side as long as you have something to back it up with. I would take a class again with her any day, she kept me intrigued the whole time.
I was interested in the class..but I was also scared. She HATES when people are late, is not willing to work with students if its not convenient for her. If you question her, you will see it in your grade. She is hopefully going to retire after this year! I pray she does because she is a joke of a college professor.
This class is absolutely worthless. You learn nothing but her opinions, and you get a 70 minute sales pitch from some holistic medicine man(aka con-man). The tests seemingly come from "the book", but after further review, it doesn't seem to be the book issued. Nothing the tests covers is taught, and acording to julie, you are always wrong.
Julie was great! You always know where you stand with her. She will hear you out as long as ou have the facts to back up what you say. She is quick to admit her past with drugs and doesn't want students repeating her mistakes which explains her passion. The class was a hoot and I had no problems with her. 40+ points extra credit. I would not suggest taking her class. Preacher, not a teacher. Stands in front of the class and tells you her opinion. You have to be flexible with her, but she is not very flexible with you. Only thing I liked was that there were a lot of speakers that came in. They actually taught you the material you were there to learn.

This class is really hard, I never got an A on any of my tests but still pulled off an A in the class. How? EXTRA CREDIT! By the end I had 68 points of EC. If you have to take this class, you have to do the extra credit to get a passing grade...unless you want to spend all of your time trying to guess what answer she thinks is right!
awfuk teacher. took the class, got a b, learnt nothing. this woman should not be teaching. nothing ever discussed in class will show up on a test, neither will anything from the homework, it's all based upon her opinion and interpretation of the "material" and if you disagree with her, your grade will suffer her wrath. hopefully she retires soon.

Her directions for the papers were not clear and if you did not do them exactly as she had in mind, she would not give you any credit for them. she is not understanding and is very rude when you are asking for help. I DO NOT recommend taking any of her classes.
I loved her class, I got an A. Her test are hard but she offers alot of extra credit and service learning. I learned alot that applied to my life. She is not your average teacher. She brings in guest speakers whom are very interesting and make you do a lot of self reflecting which us as humans need. I suggest her class!
Julie is great, honest and doesn't bite her tongue. I loved it! You can't pull the wool over her eyes; she will call you on it. If you want co-dependency look elsewhere. Chime in on discussions and do the extra credit. She isn't some ogre. Get over yourselves people & quit whining. NCC will be at a loss when she retires. She's a rare find.
TAKE HER!! She is not scared to call you out. She won't hold your hand along the way, but WILL challenge you! She is stubborn and hard, but well worth it in the end... I took the class 2x and am now a guest speaker. People WILL miss her when she leaves. Advice- Be EARLY, chat with her, PARTICIPATE, do extra credit AND study!! You will learn A LOT!

I started out liking Julie, but dwindled over time. She kept threatening to fail students and was unprofessional. Julie is insensitive and assigns assignments that did not have anything to do with the course. She sticks her nose into people's lives and complains when they come to her for advice. Think before you take this course!!
I really enjoyed this class. True, she doesn't teach anything from the book but she is interesting. Do the extra credit, it helps. She doesn't take crap so if you're a BSer, don't take this class. It was fun!
Do Service Learning, I don't care if you are "busy" or "don't have the time". You will NOT get an A if you do not. (Plus think, if you don't do good you are wasting 500 dollars + with retaking the class). Make sure you get 30 hours too. Don't study, the overall grade for the class is normally a F, just do good on the mods and make sure you do EC.
I can't agree with a lot of the negative comments on here. I found prof David to be really nice and helpful. There was certainly some lack of clarity regarding some assignments, but she offers tons of extra credit and has a sense of humor, plus I appreciated that she gave feedback and personal commentary on assignments and not just a grade.
This woman should not be teaching. Her opinions and attitudes towards students, no matter their age or educational level, is horrendous. She believes that her random rambling in front of the class is imparting some sort of wisdom on to people, but all she really is is an insecure person. Her "straight up" attitude is a joke, just like her classes.
Had her for summer class of Stress Management. She was gone for about a week. Directions on assignments are really vague and nobody understands her. Avoid her at all costs! Take a different teacher. Her D2L page always made me confused. I emailed her if I could turn in something late. Never got a reply. DO NOT TAKE!
Igot an A through Julies "back door" policy as she called it. Basically dont buy the book she wont teach from it but gives tests on it. She says we pay too much to have teach from a book. You can pass her test by showing up for class! Do all the extra credit! Plus, write a page or so on feedback. she loves it. I failed every test and got an A.
Julie is a great teacher, so people don't like her because she is not the run of mill teacher. She doesn't teach to the book, but gives tests on it. Read the chapters and you will get A's on tests. She makes class interesting usually all the time is discussion, about a variety of things. Converse ask question challenge your thoughts and Julie's.
When i saw these ratings before i took julie's class, i figured i'd had the teacher. took the class and LOVED it. Julie is amazing. we talk about things that actually apply to your life. Read the book for tests tho. The chapters are super easy, only 15-20 pages each. Ended up being my favorite class last semester!
In class discussions were rarely on topic, or if they were it was mainly Julie telling personal stories about things she'd seen, people she knows,or preaching about something. Almost nothing on exams was covered in class, the only way to pass the tests is to memorize the textbook, lots of extra credit and it's the best way to pass the class
Horrible,completely disorganized. At least two different sets of directions for every assignment, so you hope you follow the right one otherwise you will lose points. Lost points on quiz questions that came STRAIGHT from the book, yet I was marked wrong. Not a hard class, but I found it to be very irritating and she seems to be all over the place.

So confusing. Hated this class. The lectures have nothing to do with the text book, tests are all based on the book. Lots of little assignments due with very little guidance as to what is expected. Things discussed in class were interesting, but did not make the class less stressful. She is hardheaded and very stubborn.
