The artist formerly known as Adams, Prof. Emerson is a fantastic teacher. If lecture seems confusing, be patient because she will do enough examples (maybe too many) to make even the toughest work seem easy. She is young, and hence relates well to her students. Highly recommended!

AKA Prof. Adams. She is very nice. Allows you to copy her notes on the class so you don't have take any. Bring a tape recorder! She goes back on her word all the time. She says she will grade one way and then does it another and denies what she said in the first place. Her test are very hard. This one is a toss up.

Her name use to be Julie Adams. She is such an awesome chemistry teacher, I had her for both lecture and lab. She makes learning chemistry fun and intersting. She has notes available to her students and she doesn't use the text book. Her tests aren't bad you just have to make sure you know the material.I would recommend her to others.

Mrs. Emerson is a good instructor. There are two problems with her though. She goes way too fast, and she is relatively hard. The problem comes in one question of the exam which is supposed to be hard. It’s only one question but it is 10 points worth. In other words, a letter grade. Overall, she is nice lady and helpful too.

GREAT TEACHER!!!! Very helpful in and out of class! Gives a lot of notes, but they are needed to explain everything. If you don't want to take notes, you can just make copies of hers! She goes over all of the exams and quizzes (all quizzes are announced in advance) to make sure you understand everything! Sweet lady who really cares. I recommend her

Very good professor. I felt her teaching technique was clear and concise. She provides notes on Angel and a review sheet prior to each test. Be able to work the problems from her notes & the homework questions and you'll do well. She's easy to talk to if you have questions or need further assistants. She's a good teacher but you really need to put in a lot of effort to do well. Lots of quizzes to do but they prepare you for tests. Not a fan of her notes she basically writes them for you so it's harder to learn. she seems like a teacher for the more educated. hard class. take musgrave instead

Listen a lot read alot. Tests are pretty straighforward. Credit on tests for sincere attempts at problems. read the book or the abbreviated text and do the homework. Worked hard enough to exempt final and got an A. Not easy but worth the effort learned alot.

Very helpful and organized. Teaches a little fast but study the book and her notes along with the helpful worksheets if you have trouble keeping up you'll do fine.

Emerson is a hidden treasure. She has two masters’ degrees and is one of the more proficient professors at SPC. If given the opportunity to take her class, DO IT and I doubt you will regret it.

She's a stickler on grading (-0.1) but assigned work is not difficult as long as you do the assignments in Lecture. Prelabs are due the night before and you can’t work ahead. You can bring a 4 x 6 card for the final. She’s pregnant which means she’ll be out of class in December or January. Overall, she’s a great teacher!

Professor Emerson is a good teacher, explains examples throughly and helps you if you don't understand. If you study and pay attention in class you should have no problem understanding the material. She gives an online quiz every week with 2 chances for each quiz.

I had emerson for both lab and lecture. I got high A's in both classes. Do the extra credit in lab, and all of the quizzes in lecture and you will be fine. Very helpful professor, even helps with career goal advice. 3 Tests in lecture are tough, but dont get a B on any of the tests, otherwise you will have to take a very easy final exam.

Ms. Emerson is a great teacher. Class is optional (notes are on ANGEL) but you should go it's helpful. If you have a good chemistry background her class is a breeze if not, her class is a breeze. Pay attention. 6 ANGEL quizzes and 3 in class exams. Have an A average on your 5 highest quizzes and 90 or better on ALL 3 exams you can exempt the final.

I had the lecture portion and i was not too pleased. This was a blended course which is really difficult to cope with. I didnt have a choice since the college changed my schedule 3 days before classes started. I think that she talks way to fast and there is not enough time for her to go over things. Absolutely LOVED Prof. Emerson. I took her class online-it was extremely easy to understand. She always answered questions promptly via email and made sure you understood every concept. There were many practice tests and questions to prepare you for all major tests including the midterm and final.

Took Chemistry Honors in High School and did not learn anything. Emerson is amazing, very helpful and offers a lot of resources for practice. Took online... quizzes are hard! Asks to fill out entire formula! Her book that she wrote is a joke! 1 quiz and 1 assignment every week. Midterm and Final are impossible. Class average was around a 23% for both. Willing to help, but never had time to go to office. Still wouldn't take her unless I had to.

Took online. Best Chem class I've ever taken. Easily laid out course material, easy to follow. Make sure you leave time for the weekly module, containing a lesson, a practice assignment, and a quiz. Professor Emerson is probably one of the greatest professors I've ever taken at SPC. Everyone says Intro is an easy class, but she definitely makes you work for it - you have to put in the time and effort. She makes the harder concepts easier to understand and is always willing to take the extra time needed to understand the topics.

Ms. Emerson is amazing. She spells out the lessons crystally clear (online modules). She does not give you the chance to do poorly. You have unlimited attempts at each assignment and you must get a 80% on the practice quiz to even take the credit quiz. Great communication. Even though the material is difficult, she makes it understandable.

Professor Emerson is amazing. I don't think I've ever understood Chemistry better, and she is so quick with grading. I got a 98 on my final and it left me 2 points shy of an A in the class, and she rounded it for me. Definitely recommend her for lecture and lab!

Professor Emerson is great. Lots of work, but she gives extra credit. If you do all the work, you will pass no matter how well you do on the midterm and final exam. Super instructor. Went back and corrected the mistakes Angel made grading my Final Exam so that I got a B instead of a C on the Final (which I deserved). Very helpful and clear.

EMerson is very good at teaching she is easy to understand. The assignments are easy if you study and the quizzes are also. I made good grades on everything. BUT the tests are the most horrible tests ever. I studied so much and had nothing above a B. I would take her again but I wont because I want an A in General Chem.

I took her class online. Really not too bad. Weekly assignments and quizzes are pretty easy. Mid-term and final are a different story. The questions she puts on are them are a bit tricky. The online videos she posts are quite helpful.

I took this class blended and I loved it! All of the quizes were online, and you could take most of them two times. The 3 exams + the final were in class, but they are not hard as long as you do the exam review sheets. Ms Emerson is great over all!

Took this as a blended course and absolutely hated it. Assignments were due the night before we even learned the lesson in lecture, so you had to teach yourself. Her tests are practically impossible to pass and I didn't feel as if she prepared you enough for them. Overall very disappointed with this class and professor.

Easy online quizzes, tests aren't bad, but you can;t go into them without studying. Notes are crucial, I suggest to print them out before class. Very helpful, makes sure you understand everything. She is a great professor. Makes everything very clear, uses little mnemonics to help to memorize tricky parts. If you cannot pass her class, college is not for you. Quizzes in Angel are pain in the neck, though. They are not so hard to solve, as to put in. This part could have been better. Overall, highly recommended.

I took Prof. Emerson for both Chem 1 and Chem 2; if you really study, review your notes, and put in the work, YOU WILL PASS. This is not an easy class so don't expect a passing grade if you don't review and study the material but I would definitely take Emerson again and recommend her class.

Professor Emerson supplies her own notes which are easy to understand compared to the textbook. She thoroughly covers the material in lecture and uses her own tests which she provides reviews for online. Three exams given and final exam replaces lowest test grade. OWL assignments are extra credit. Highly recommended.

Emerson is wonderful. I'm taking her for Intro Chem Lab & Lecture, and as someone who is totally new to chemistry, she is great! She never makes you feel stupid when asking seemingly-basic questions, and always helps work out problems. She goes a bit fast sometimes, but just pay attention and go over the chapter later at home and you'll be fine.

I LOVE MRS. EMERSON! I highly recommend her for Intro Chem. She is there 100% for her students after class/weekends and really tries to help them. Offers plenty of extra credit, assignments are a bit long but it helps you to really understand the material, gives you a mock practice exam of the midterm and final so you know exactly what will be on it, emails back VERY quickly, offers help, every assignment prob comes with an instructional how-to video, no text book, weekly quizes.

Prof. Emerson is a wonderful professor. She really goes above and beyond to help her students. That being said, you will work for an A in classes. But if you show up and do the work it is not impossible. She is in her office a lot, very responsive to e-mails, and always willing to help. If she sees that you put in the effort we will work with you.

I took her online and she was extremely helpful. She gives excellent notes for us and even uploads videos to your homework. There are practice quizzes to prepare you for the actual quiz that you can retake if you get a poor grade. She provides 60 points of extra credit and emails you back extremely fast. Professor Emerson is very sweet! She is available to help outside of class, and she will teach you the material that you need to do your labs at the beginning of class. There are quizzes at the beginning of each lab on last weeks lab, so just make sure you study before you come in. My advice, do NOT take lab and lecture at 2 different campuses!

Professor Emerson is awesome. She was always available for additional tutoring when I needed it and she is very patient. You get 5 points extra credit for every exam if you turn in your homework and 20 points for perfect attendance. She teaches at beginner level which was exactly what I needed.

Great teacher very calm and cheerful

I have always struggled with Chemistry but with this professor I was not only able to pass with a high A, I also finally started to understand the material. She offers so much extra credit and provides a sample midterm/ final for practice thats exactly like the proctored ones. Highly recommend this professor if you want to pass and understand.

mrs emerson is SO SWEET and i think she's a great teacher. this is a hard class in general, i constantly asked questions because i was always confused and she was always willing to help me understand. this class is ALOT of work so you need to put in the time to study. lab for me is harder, but again mrs emerson always helped me TRY to understand.

Professor Emerson is the best professor I've ever had. Last year I dropped intro chem with Prof Mitchell.. I didn't know what I would do, but I knew it couldn't get worse than that class. I'm glad I did and drove out of my way for Prof Emerson's class. No obnoxious OWL software; she has her own textbook. She's so clear, thorough and organized. <3

Professor Emerson knows exactly how to explain her course materials. You can tell she has used her years of experience to find the best ways to explain things and is constantly perfecting her teaching... She is very organized and has her own textbook so that your lecture, textbook and homework are all put the same way. Game changer.

Professor Emerson is one of the best professors I have taken, she is very kind and considerate, her lectures are amazing and always interesting and easy to keep up with. Her tests are easy as long as you pay attention and study and do the practice assignments. Got a 98% in the class with minimal effort. Highly recommend taking her!

Awesome class! Assignments can have a lot of questions sometimes. Class can be a little tough but thats just chem LOL. Also took her for Lab and i highly recommend taking her for both.

Probably the best professor Ive had at SPC. I genuinely learned so much from her, plus she is the nicest most and most helpful which is great for a class like chem. I recommend her to literally everyone.

attending zoom sessions isn't required but I def recommend watching the recordings she posts because she gives similar examples to the homework. Emerson's explanations are amazing and she really broke down some concepts from my lecture class too. The textbook is free. The midterm and final were easy because she goes over the problems! The BEST professor to take for intro chem! She knows how to explain things in a way everyone can understand. She knows so much about chemistry, and her passion for it rubbed off on me! She's kind, caring, and easy to talk to. Mrs. Emerson actually made me excited about coming to class!

Mrs. Emerson is wonderful! She talks fast and throws a lot of information at you, but she is always willing to meet before or after class if you ask for extra help. However, she will not hold your hand if you are not putting in an effort. If you show her that you're trying, she will be there for you every step of the way! :)

She is THE BEST! She knows how to explain everything in a way that makes chemistry less intimidating and easier to tackle. Definitely take her this is the best I have done in science in years. She drops lowest test and quiz score and gives EC! Also have the option to exempt exam if you get A's on every test.

Mrs. Emerson is great! She was very clear about due dates, deadlines, and procedures both in lecture and in lab. She has virtual and in-person office hours but she is willing to set up a different time to meet if her office hours don't work for you. She will also drop your lowest lab, test, and quiz grade. Take her if you get the chance!

She's really good. Professor Emerson definitely knows what she's talking about and knows how to explain things at an intro level. She also tells you a lot of fun facts that are just interesting to know. Fair warning though: if you are not a good test taker, you are going to struggle. You're graded based on 3 tests and 5 quizzes in lecture.

She's tough but she is a great professor. This semester was her first time teaching chem 1 online and she did everything she possibly could have to give us what we needed to do well in the class. She usually responds to emails within minutes, grades things quickly, and is there to answer any questions. She is a tough grader but she's reasonable.

With General Chemistry I also had Professor Emerson for the lab as well. She is very nice and will help you if you ask for it. I unfortunately did not pass her class but not because she was a bad teacher. I did not understand the material and did not ask her for help. I will be taking her class again because I loved this Professor so much.

Her curriculum is great and I can tell she really cares about her students. Between CHM1025 and CHM1025L there is a lot of coursework in my opinion though. Nonetheless, I still think she is a great professor!

I am absolutely terrible at Chem and she made this class seem so much easier. A lot of work between lecture and lab but she always responds quickly and was willing to help however she could. I would have honestly ended up with a B+ or even an A but I did terrible on my finals. Tests weekly all through honorlock and the finals are cumulative.

Prof. Emerson was amazing! She was definitely my favorite professor this past semester. So sweet and really cares about her students. Very easy to understand, and also very understanding. She does give a lot of assignments, but if you just sit down and do them each one only takes a few minutes, so it doesn't actually end up being too much.

Each week you have a video lecture, practice quizzes (1 point each, 2-4 each chapter), and a credit quiz (1 each week, 25 points). Every 4 chapters there is an "exam" (3 exams 1 final) worth 200 points. For each chapter you can earn 5 points extra credit (need to purchase online textbook in order to do it). Drops lowest credit quiz. Will help you!

She is an amazing professor that taught in such an understanding way, the reason I received my grade was it was online and she provided the resources to pass and i highly recommend taking every piece of information she gives you along with extra credit opportunities. I also took her lab, same exact comment but the tests are in person.

This professor was really great. She took the time to do zoom meeting with me when I did not understand content and was always available.

This professor is amazing. She teaches in a way that makes chemistry easy, which would be a first for me. I've never had such a good professor. She even makes videos and zoom calls if you ever need help with something. I took her for lab and i'm taking her again next semester for gen chem 1 and lab.

Her course is easy to understand and manage. You can reach out to her asking for help or further explanation and she will respond within a week and even suggest doing a call to explain things further. She specifies what will be on her midterm and final so you know what to properly study for. She is definitley one of the best teachers I've had.

Professor Emerson teaches thoroughly, but the class can be challenging with mandatory attendance and grading heavily based on tests. Unstuck AI was a big help for preparing.

Shes amazing, all lectures easy. Test are a bit of a struggle but its a college science course, you are going to have to study and practice. Extra credit given and possability to exxempt the final. This class was fun and lab with her was easy. shes a harsh grader but will help you learn/correct. Very flexxible. 100% recommend.

This professor is great! she responds to emails super fast and is willing to answer any questions with the best attitude. One thing about her class though is that for exams you actually have to study and be comfortable with the topics she teaches since her exams are a bit tough. Otherwise her class is pretty straight foward!

She is very kind however this is a Chem class so it's definitely more hard than what people are used to. Her tests are very hard but not impossible make sure to really understand the material. Tests were definitely harder than homeworks and all were in person, no notes. She replaces lowest test with your final exam. 4 150pt Tests 12 10 point Hw

I learned more from her short assignment outlines in the lab class than I did in my actual chemistry lecture with Dr. Wu. I highly recommend taking her class, she gives amazing feedback and will help you with anything you don't understand. 10/10. Side note: Her last name is "Monaco" now.

This Professor is very caring and knows how to explain anything that you're confuse of, the class is easy if you understand chemistry, the only reason that I got a B was because I didn't practice before the tests but the post labs are pretty easy and when she grades them and give it bad to you you can easily understand what you did wrong.
