She is a very nice teacher and tries to get you interested in english and the topics being discussed. She lets you revise your essay which is very helpful since she seems to grade rather hard, but this is easily fixed by revising your essay. She seems to grade a lot by format and grammar instead of what you are actually saying.

Very great teacher. her instructions for the essays are pretty clear, but often we write about the most difficult things. Although, she helps with the essays and helps structure paragraphs for more clearity

She is smart and very friendly, but she is also tough. The nice thing is that she?ll go out of her way to help you with any problems. Unfortunately, she can talk way too fast sometimes. Don?t be afraid to tell her to slow down if you don?t understand. It gets really annoying when she does it while she wants you to write something important down.

She is a down to earth teacher, and she relates with her students very well. Great sense in developing students needs and very helpful. I noted that the class was easy because she kicks your butt if you make the same mistakes. She has improved my writing skills tremendously.

She was a great teacher. She is hard in her grading but she lets you revise them and turn it in again. This is extremely helpful if you messed up on your essay. I'm in WR1 now and we are going over the same thing that she has taught us. Remember essays must be, I quote "focused, unified, coherent paragraphs." LOLL..I will never forget that.

Mrs. Evans is a great teacher and helped me so much in writing a better paper! She grades very fairly on the paper and she is a brilliant professor! I truly enjoyed having her for writing 301 and I loved the book that we read! If anyone knows how to analyze a book or some sort of reading, it's her! Take her! Because she is awesome!

I am an older student so I know some about teachers. Julie is simply one of the finest instutors I have ever had. She is clear, helpful, demanding, organized, a great communicator, and has a wonderful personality. Her class was always interesting and loads of fun! Thank you, Julie.

She's a great professor! The topics she picks are very interesting. However, it is very difficult to get an A on an essay. She grades pretty hard! I ended up getting a B in this class but I learned a lot!

I can't afford not to come to her class. lol Her class is fun and Julie chooses interesting books. The only thing you might not like about her is that she is a hard grader. Of all our writing assignments, I just got one A+. lol Just do the writing assignments, go to the conferences, and read the books.

She is a very very hard grader. She should actually teach WR 2 instead because she is relentless. If you are enrolling to get this class over with. I highly advise you not to take her. If your major is english, then take her for the self-learning benefits.

This class was awesome. Attendance is completely mandatory, miss 4 classes=down 1 letter grade. 2 late arrivals over 10 minutes=1 absence. If you are not a naturally good writer, she is VERY hard. But a lot of people didn't even bother to get help from her during office hours. She will help you A LOT. I wish she taught WR02!

Evans is a great writing teacher and I definitely learned a lot from her class. Listen to her instructions (it's crystal clear), write a strong thesis statement, and have focused, unified, and coherent paragraphs. I loved her energy too b/c it kept me going from 7:15 am, and I would totally take her again IF she taught WR2.

Evans was an amazing professor! I honestly was scared sometimes because her papers intimidated me but she is SO helpful she will go the extra mile to tell you what you need to hear. She is never lazy she really cares about learning. I never had such an amazing teacher...I learned so much and I can't believe how amazingly I can write now.

She is one of the best professors I have EVER had because she helped me improve my writing skills so much. I took her for wr 301, 201, and 1. She is kind, extremely clear, helpful, and tough. She pick the most interesting topics and books for essays. Must take this professor.

She is a hard grader. but very helpful when you need it. I do not like the fact that she talks to you like a child. But she does expect a little too much out of the class considering it is wr 301. I hate the fact that I have to re-take the class but im sure if I have to I probably was not ready.

Great teacher. She did a great job with preparing me for WR 201. She is a hard grader, but I love that. How are we suppose to prepare to transfer to a great university if she were an easy grader? The only way to revieve lower than a B in this class is to not show up and not put a tiny bit of effort in what you do. I got an A.

She's nice but I do not like how she talks to you as if you were small children. She's helpful but not by much!..I tried my hardest trying to work w/her & she still gave me a D she mind as well have given me an F because I have to start all over anyway.ITS KINDA A WASTE OF TIME!!

I can honestly say she is one of the BETTER teachers at IVC. At times she may have a tough grading system but overall she genuinely cares about her students and just wants everyone to excel. I guarantee your writing will improve. I struggled at times and had to work hard, but in the end I received an A. Overall, she was an awesome teacher!

Prof. Evans is an incredible teacher. I admire her work ethic&ambition. She works so hard which is shown throughout her teaching as well as in the writing center(she is the director). If it wasn't for Prof. Evans my writing would have never improved. Her love of teaching helped create the building blocks needed so I can become an effective writer.

I took CHILDRENS LIT 7 and let me tell you Professor Evans does not disappoint. All her activities are active & super interesting. Her homework assignments & reading schedules are manageable but if you do not read you might be lost in class. She is one of the best professors & creates a fun learning atmosphere! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :)

4 papers total and some small writing assignments, she clearly explains what she is looking for and really helps you develop your essays. I really think my writing has improved after taking her class. She is really active and always helps her students and truly cares about improving your writing. Tough class but she makes it enjoyable

She truly does care about the class. You mainly read books and write essays on it. She really helped me develop my writing style, and made an honest effort in helping everyone in the class if they needed it. Take advantage of her office hours, and email her if you need help. She does grade decently tough, but it's because she wants you to improve.

Evans is great but tough! She told me at the beginning, "if you're only looking for an A, my class isn't for you." She wants you to improve and try new styles. She has energy and is fun. In class activities help SO much! It can feel like a lot of work sometimes, but I think it's worth it. My writing has improved so much! Great books, too!

Professor Evans was a great teacher! She taught well and cared about teaching. However, this also means she expects much and can be fairly strict in grading. So, be sure to pay attention in class, participate as thoroughly as you can, and take notes. You have to work hard for an A, especially since most of the grade is based on only a few essays.

Easily one of the best writing professors Ive ever had. Shes an incredibly tough grader, but shes not out to get you. She pushes you to do your absolute best. Your writing skill will max its potential in that class. Guaranteed.

Easily the best writing teacher I have ever had. She a very hard grader but tells you exactly what she expects in her essays. If you pay attention, make her corrections, and follow the rubric, you will do well in her class. Expect to nearly double her page minimum for essays if you hope of reaching the level of writing that is considered A-material

Ill tell you how to get an A, literally just set up meetings with her to look over your papers before the due dates and she tells you exactly how to fix/improve everything. She gives great feedback and grades super fair. If you make the changes she asks for, automatic A. Use the tips she gives throughout the semester on the final and BAM, an A.

She's a good professor but I would not take her again. if you want an easy A you might wanna look elsewhere. Would recommend if you a tryhard at writing. If you do have her it's not impossible to get an A but you need to dedicate a lot of time to this class because so far this class was much harder than other 4 and even 5 unit classes.

Prof. Evans helped me a lot. Academically AND with personal issues. Takes your hand through the writing process, and is very friendly if you are serious about writing. Go to her outside of class, make the necessary adjustments and an A is almost guaranteed. She taught me how I should organize my essays and I have not had a problem ever since.

she is a very tough grader but she's well intended and makes her expectations clear. i took her summer course and it wrecked me, but I can't deny that her feedback and support really helped me grow so much in terms of academic writing. she's very sweet and really pushes you to your highest potential.

It's very difficult to teach this class online due to Covid, so she did a great job despite the circumstances. There is a TON of info to plough through and this was HARD WORK! I'm a published professional writer and I found it really tough! But you can always improve your writing, and this class definitely did that job and did it well.

To do well, make sure to go to office hours every week and show her all your assignments and essays for feedback before you submit. the class is very well organized and every assignment helps you in the long run for the essays. you can tell she knows what she's doing. she's pretty solid professor but definitely not an easy A; hard grader for sure.

Professor Evans was very knowledgeable and caring. I hadn't written an essay in many years and her instruction really helped me improve my writing. She gives excellent feedback. Best advice is to manage your time well since it's tons of work. Email her a draft of your essays in advance for feedback and make all of the suggested changes.

I took the online, asynchronous course. Usually two assignments per week with 4 total essays in the semester. Definitely a tough grader like others have mentioned, but I think you'll earn the grade depending on the effort that you put in.

Mrs. Evans was seriously a phenomenal professor. She helped me improve my writing in ways I didn't even think possible. Yes, she was a pretty hard grader, but she was always willing to talk through your mistakes and what you could fix on your next papers. Also, I LOVED attending her classes, they were super engaging and hand on. 10/10 Recommend her
