the best ever! Julie rocks yo go girl!!! she really knows her stuff!
great professor, lots of energy!
GREAT PROF. Very helpful, fun and energetic.
Very liberal
Awesome class. She is the greatest teacher in the world. Very helpful in the class and helping me with Grad. school!
As a professor, she's unclear about what she wants and unfair to her students. I wouldn't recommend her!
all she does is bash on white, upper class men. its so annoying and shes really paranoid about the media. bullshit conspiracy theories
She is the best teacher I've ever had. Generally cares and has concerns for students on a personal level. Very intelligent, clear, nice, interesting... keeps me awake and she grades fairly.
Knows a lot about what she is talking about. Loves interacting with students. Grades fairly. Gives 2nd chances, very helpful. Fun groupd projects and discussions. I give her an A+
Injects way too much of her own liberal political views into the class. Grades very easy: I skipped every class from Spring break till the final and still got an A.
Very good at getting people motivated
Take the online class. It's pretty easy. You have 1 assignment a week, read a chapter and answer the questions that she has that goes along with them. She doesn't mind if the answer comes straight out of the book. The tests are a little bit harder, but u have 2 hours to look for the answers up.
Great Teacher, super knowledgable. Will help u if you need it, but not an easy class. She challenges you, after all it is college.
She's a horrible teacher. Doesn't meet with you when asked, and I think she hands out grades by picking them out of a hat. There's no basis for them at all. She's rude and way too opinionated!

Uses class as a medium for preaching liberal views
She required a book that was out of print simply because her friend wrote it. We opened it maybe 4 times and she had the nerve to ask us to donate them so the next class could use them after having to special order them... she liked to talk about herself
Great teacher! Would take any class she teaches! The other raters need to open up their conservative minds!
The class would have been fine - an online course, reading-intensive, objetive quizzes - if she paid attention to her own work! Constantly had to email her about errors in the quizzes to get back unfairly lost points, and even when I was right, she sometimes denied me credit based on who knows what. I've never had to struggle so hard to get the gra
If you don't agree with her argue her, she actually loves it. I had her for Media Crit and now Womens Studies. She can be one sided and opinionated but she looks at the other side too. She is compassionate and understanding and very helpful. She is sooo clear about what she wants she posts examples on Blackboard + sends reminders about assignments
Lots of fun. Very interesting (but biased, in a good way). Not too hard if you pay attention and do the work. She gives lots of examples and help.
Online Intro to Communications, very good, interesting textbook, the quizzes and final exam were difficult, but with studying not impossible, and the grades didn't kill you if they weren't amazing. Highly recommend. easy grade with minimal work.
Online Intro to Communications, very good, interesting textbook, the quizzes and final exam were difficult, but with studying not impossible, and the grades didn't kill you if they weren't amazing. Highly recommend. easy grade with minimal work.
She is a greast teacher.Always there when needed out of class and responds quickly to help you out. Very fair and understanding of circumstances with adult learning and enviroment. Recommend taking any class she has. I have taken 3 and loved them all.
I thought that the class was very interesting. Really enjoyed it! Professor Frechette is very helpful and all of the assignments were clear. I took this class online and would definitely take another class with this professor.
The class was a lot of work but it wasn't too bad, I took it online and we had a paper due every week so you had plenty of time to get it done and she made it very clear what she expected.
Online class. Lots of writing but nothing over the top. Everything is clear from the get go. Assignments are interesting and papers are graded fairly. Shes a great professor and the class was great. Take her!
The class was very interesting I enjoyed it. At the beginning I thought there was not going to be a lot of communication between the professor and students but it was the complete opposite. Professor Frechette keeps in contact with the students constantly.
She is awesome! Always willing to help out, very clear and interesting. Classes are interesting and has a hands on approach. Take her if you need a comm class, she is one of the best by far.
probably one of the best profs at WSC. Knows what she is talking about and relates it with students. Class may seem hard at first but its easy to get stuff done.
she is beautiful, but looks can be deceiving! she is the biggest feminist professor I ever had. EXTREMELY Liberal. Almost sickeningly Liberal. Makes you watch "OutFoxed" which is a propaganda film. 2 20 page papers, 3 page papers weekly, if you can wait till an election year than do it, only 1 20 page paper and a speech. Very Anti-Ronald Reagen!
Took mass comm. online. It was interesting but there were at least 15 questions to answer every week, sometimes a lot more.. 2 short papers, 3 quizzes (80 questions on each so they were pretty tough), and a final. I'm a senior & I thought that was a pretty heavy workload for just a 100 level course. She didn't seem to be a hard grader though ..
Amazing, intelligent, engaged in the topic; only difficult if you are clueless; her expectations are SPOT ON for college student level work. Engaging & fun; no tests but a good deal of papers!
Does not email right away. Not great at writing questions for exams. Seems to not want to put any time and effort into helping students. Keep in mind I took this during the summer and online.
Very friendly and eager to help. Course work was clearly outlined and relevant. Prompt response to e-mails. Lots of homework questions to answer, but plenty of time to get it done. Does not mind if you quote from text. Highly recommended!
Online CM Intro Comm. Took summer session. Homework time is = to class time. One final test. I'd take her again
I took Intro to Mass Comm online with her and she is awesome! She responds to emails, she explains what she wants from the assignments. The online tests are lengthy but not too bad. Read the chapters and you will be all set. Homework every week due by 5:30pm on Saturdays.
Took Gender and the Media. Great course. Lots of reading, but only 3 papers and 2 assignments. No discussion required. Easy A if you put the time in.
started off as being very kind. EXTREMELY liberal to the point that she even upsets other liberals. Says that she welcomes all opinions, but will throw her degree in your face if you do. Very hard grader. Will take large amounts of points off for small errors. Very few grades. I have had some conceded professors in my time, but she tops them all.
Assignments were clear and posted well ahead of time.
This is an awesome opportunity to receive credit for your internship. The blog is a great way to showcase your experience and makes an excellent addition to your portfolio.
Great class. Lengthy papers due every couple of weeks but information and detail is all provided and easy to put together. Walked away from this class knowing more than I did before. EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS! Professor works well with students and gives credible feedback, she knows her stuff!
Great instructor. Helpful. Clear instruction. Knowledgeable and goes out of her way for you.
I learned a lot from this class.
I took Media Criticism. This class is alot of work, though manageable and stays very interesting. Prof. Frechette is very helpful and engaged with her students even in this online class. I would strongly recommend taking her courses.
BEST professor in WSU hands down! I took IntroIIMassComm. / Gender&Media / & SurveyRadioTV . All good grades, easy work, & taught perfectly. Thanks for everything!
Awesome professor, high recommended, very knowledgeable and professional!
She seems nice. I should have assumed how liberal the class was going to be but I needed the WAC requirement.. Ended up doing ok but the research paper was not fun (although my topic was interesting) and the blog aspect was unnecessary in my opinion. Most students copied half their paper into it.. what is the point of it.. I would take her again.
This course at WSU is great. I really enjoyed my time, and I learned a lot of valuable insight. If you have no experience in the communications field, this is a great starting point. It teaches you the ins and outs of public relations. You must be self motivated in order to do well in this course, though. I highly suggest taking this class.
One of the best communication professors I have ever had. She is amazing. She has so much knowledge and is willing to help students out. She deeply cares about how well you do in class. If you show up to class and pay attention to exactly what she asks you to do on the rubric then you can receive a good grade.
Professor Frechette is pretty cool. I've had 2 classes with her, one online and one regular. She's super helpful and you will learn a lot from her. She's a strong, smart woman and I found myself really looking up to her. You will enjoy her classes.
I love professor Julie, she is so helpful and always there if you need her. Always gives good feedback. If you have a question, she has an answer. I have taken 5 classes with her and enjoyed each one. She just wants you to learn without feeling like work. Recommend here for sure. Not an easy A thought. Be prepared to work and learn.
Professor Frechette is amazing. She's so helpful and caring. Her courses are clear cut and very organized. They are by no means easy but everything is so interesting that you don't mind doing the work. I try to take a class with her each semester. Do the work, show interest and effort and you'll be fine.
I was hoping for a good experience after seeing all the positive feedback about this professor. My experience has been anything but a good one. Unclear in assignment requirements, "feedback" for assignments was copied and pasted. Seems robotic in delivery with e-mails and syllabus; seems to have no interestcare for her students. Gimme a break.
For media crit she gives no test, which sounds great until you have to do three 7 page papers (which turn into 12) and a 15 page final. Is very proud of her own accomplishments and boasts about them daily. Expects a massive amount of reading done for each paper. Paper grading is hit and miss, some say easy, I couldnt get more than a 75 on any paper
She is a very good professor. Expect to learn when taking one of her classes. No hw except three 7 pages papers over the course of the semester, and one final research paper, which isn't bad. She is some what of a hard grader but I'm not the greatest writer either, even though I did manage to get an A. She's also pretty helpful if you meet with her
We discussed many topics that touch upon many ongoing issues. There was a lot of information that can be applied throughout many courses such as sociology and other communications courses. I liked that it was not only a lecture class with a power-point but a class that was run by class discussions. Everyone had something to add to the class.
I appreciated this class. It was truly eye-opening and made me think deeper on issues that are ongoing and the role of media in society. I liked the fact that the class was interactive.
Julie Frechette is an excellent professor. She is a very sweet woman who, you can really tell, wants everyone's best effort. She loves hearing her students voices, so you must be ready to raise your hand and get involved in class discussion. I've always thought that this is the best method of teaching.
Very organized online class. She's very clear on what she expects from students and how they will be graded. You will need to read the textbook and answer questions every week and the questions can be pretty long but they're not hard just read the chapters and they are pretty straightforward, along with MC midterm & final. I recommend this class!
Pretty standard professor in class, but be prepared to funnel all your free time into the homework. You have to write four "7-10 page" papers (12+ pages if you want a good grade) and read about a chapter of the textbook plus 2-3 articles/ videos per class. If you don't have a lot of time on your hands, *do not* take this class.
Simply an all around excellent professor. Well educated, extremely involved in her field, always making content relevant. She does make you work for your grade, 4 papers in total, 5-7 pages, but no tests. I loved this teaching style. I learned so much from media criticism. Thank you Prof. Frechette!
Much of the course material assigned was outdated, often omitting significant follow up studies. Textbook assigned, Gendered Lives, had spelling and grammatical errors in it. Grading Criteria for essays is not made clear at start of course. Content of course seems scattered - focused solely on analysis of media from Industrial Era and onward.
Professor Frechette is hands down one of the best professors I've had at Worcester State. I've had her for Media Criticism and an independent study. The material in class is difficult, but shes very hands on that it makes it easy. She's always available for questions and I never felt like she didn't care about the class. Great professor.
Easily my favorite university professor. She is a respectable, patient and kind. As a very approachable member of Comm dep, she is poised and helpful. Her courses worth the effort applied. I highly recommend as long as youre willing to communicate and work hard.
In Dr. Frechette's class you should be prepared to work for a good grade. If you are looking for an easy A this isn't the class for you. Your papers are graded on the content, not the length. It is important to stay up all all assigned readings. She is accessible outside of class and gives good feedback in regards to the course work.
Professor Frechette is a great professor, she is very knowledgeable In the communication field. Make sure to read all the articles as they will help you participate in class discussions.
As an online class it was difficult to comment on skipping class or participation. I found the assignments fairly simple. Read the book, summarize one of two chapters, watch a movie and write a short paper on it. Rubrics were provided. This was an accelerated summer session and there were 2 chapters and 1 movie per week.
Great professor. Easily accessible through e-mail. Very clear syllabus and very clear expectations. Stick to the syllabus and you'll pass with no problem. She also sent e-mails after grading with clear feedback on my work, both positive and negative. Would highly recommend and would take again in a heartbeat.
I enjoyed this class. The highlight was the blog.
The work can get high, but she is extremely helpful and friendly. She does a phenomenal job in all she does and Worcester State should be lucky that they have Dr. Frechette!
Honestly the best Proffesor anyone can ask for, not only does she help and come prepared for the class content. She offers great feedback and makes the class exciting for all! Couldnt ask for a better Proffesor was blown away with the effort put in
The greatest professor I have come across at college, not only does she give great feedback but she is very knowledgeable. Some professors give feedback which doesnt relate to anything, however, her feedback is the best. Couldnt recommend enough to anyone to take one her classes. Really inspiring all round, thank you
Dr. Frechette was a very good teacher. I took her class over the Winter intercession, so there was material due every day. She gives amazing feedback and seems to be an easy grader. As long as you stay on top of your work and put effort in, you will get an A.
Wonderful class and Professor. The reading material was very interesting and the book was relatively inexpensive
Professor provided great variety and content of reading for this class, and focus was very contemporary and of real value beyond the class requirement. I'd sign up for other classes with her.
I've had Professor Frechette for a few courses now, and I cannot say enough positive things about her. She is very poised and professional yet incredibly caring - she wants you to succeed. Her work is not easy - it involves much critical thinking, however I never found it profoundly difficult. Easily one of my favorite professors at this school.
CM241 - Prof. Frechette is excellent! I took an online course (accelerated) and would definitely take her class again! Clear instructions, meaningful feedback and her movie choices were great. Short Film Analysis papers and the text reading was totally manageable.
Graded on 11 papers for the 6 weeks summer class but not difficult papers and they were graded easily. Definitely a good summer class to fill up electives
Dr. Frechette is an amazing professor. Her responses to essays are in-depth, you can tell she actually reads your work because she cites it in her response. Give her back the same energy she puts into you and you'll be good to go. Always responds to emails quickly. Would take this prof anytime, anywhere, any class.
Professor Frechette is very respectable. Kept it honest from papers 1-4 and you can tell she wants whats best for the student. You get what you put into the course no grey areas which I really appreciated. I would have taken more classes with her then previous comm. professors who overload the work honestly.
Highly Recommend the Professor and Class ! Ive taken 2 other online courses with Prof. Frechette and found them all so informative but also not overwhelming!
She over explain everything to where it confuses you. When you ask a question for clarity, she yet again over explains it using way too many words. She is RUDE but uses her words to where it doesnt sound rude. If you have ADD do not take this class! Its boring and the lectures are impossible to pay attention to.
Dr. Frechette is a great professor and mentor. I have had here for a number of courses while at Worcester State and she oversaw my capstone. I learned a lot from her feedback and insight. You will have to put the effort in, but that's how it should be.
LOVE Dr. Frechette!!! She has really high expectations but gives you all the tools you need to achieve success in her class. Genuinely wants you to succeed in your future career and wants to make sure you're prepared. Give her assignments the attention she thinks they deserve and you'll be great.
Professor Frechette is just amazing from beginning to end. She is very open-minded to every point the class brings up about a certain topic. Although there are lots of papers to get done, she gives great feedback and wants you to improve and succeed in her course. I have learned a lot from her. A very understanding and caring person all around!!!
Dr Frechette is an absolute hypocrite and is completely rude to those who don't agree with her views that she shoves down our throats disguised as "curriculum". She silenced, victimized, and discriminated against me for something I was born with & cannot control (me being a straight white guy. If it wasnt a major requirement, Id have dropped it
A great class with a great professor! The movies she had us watch were awesome! Great feedback for essays as well!
For Radio of Survey and Television, each week there's reading questions up to 40 questions which she expects 1 paragraph each. That's almost 15 pages total per week and it's VERY time consuming. Grading criteria is not clear AT ALL. If you must take this class DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THE ONLINE TEXTBOOK!!!!! It's easier to find answers.
Run so far and don't look back. This was the WORST class I have taken at Worcester State. I regret not having dropped this class. Her grading criteria is not clear at all for the HW. It's impossible to succeed in this class. The exams are difficult because you can't study for them. I learned nothing but to not recommend this professor!
Good teacher. Alot of reading and discussion in class and zoom. The only assignments are a few papers throughout the semester and you have alot of time do them so its not hard, and shes a good grader and very understanding.
Had Professor Frechette three times now and I can honestly say, she is one of the best! She's great with feedback and was very supportive of the career paths we choose to go on after taking Capstone with her. There are only a few assignments but as long as you put time in them, then you should be fine! Glad I had my last semester by having her!
take the winter intersession for your capstone it is well worth it. easy grade, easy grader, highly recommend
I took Professor Frechette's media criticism course and it was pretty straightforward. She sticks to her syllabus and the course was relatively reasonable. Lots of reading and watching videos but most of the content directly relates to the weekly content. She has a textbook that she uses weekly for readings. If you stay organized, you'll do fine.
Had A LOT of unnecessary articles you needed to read that you also needed to put in your essays in addition to quotes from the book. Her blackboard class site was also messy and disorganized. Lots of long 8+ pg essays for this class too. She did respond to my questions quickly, & seemed like she put a lot of effort into the class.
This was the most stressful course I have ever taken at Worcester State. The material is not difficult, but the workload is very overwhelming. I took this class online because it was the only option, and it was a required course for me to graduate. Her assignment instructions on Blackboard are unnecessarily long and not up to date. BIG WORKLOAD.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!You not only have to rent her own book, but you're graded on her own book and connecting it to the links she provides you (hasn't been updated since 2018). Majority of the links you have to pay for to get access to. There are very few things you're graded on and if she doesn't like your essays...good luck.
