I'm not sure about this professor. I dropped her class during the second week of school because she gives quizzes every week. Too much for a polisci class. Good Luck!
Not a tough teacher, but also not the easiest. She makes the material quite enjoyable and class is never boring. Her tests are the usual mul. choice and choice of essays. She's happens to be on of the nicest people on campus.
Professor George is a very sweet person, who lectures well and is helful. But she is hard and very stingy with giving out good grades. So think about twice if you take her.
great prof. new on campus and lots of fun! workload is intense, but worthwhile. she is insanely smart, which is admirable. she seems like she'd be cool to hang out with. take her for excerise of the brain, and a good time.
An excellent professor! She is highly intelligent, her lecutres are very interesting, and I recommend her for everyone who wants to learn from the best about international politics.
She made me reconsider changing my major from Media Studies to Political Science. while the class was not easy (lots of material for the tests) the lectures were interesting and she tried her best to keep the classes attention. She is so helpful! Always makes time for outside help. I would take another class with her.
You will work hard for a B for an intro class!
She will work you to death. Take this class only if your not overburdened with other classes. If not it will consume you. Prof. George is extreme right. Frowned on some students opinion

She is really cool and she assigns alot of reading but will tell u not to read some of it during the semester. She also gives you extensions on papers and grades very fairly. She is also kinda funny and is interesting considering the content of the class !!! Here's a hot tomali 4 u professor !!
I've never had a more interesting, helpful, and genuinely easygoing teacher. No jokes, this lady takes care of students. Not a hard class but demands work. Don't take her if you wanna cruise, but you'll have fun if you're willing to work a little bit.
Intelligent, funny, helpful, extremely knowledgeable in the area of political science, and knows how to challenge her students fairly. She is one great professor.
Love this teacher! One of the smartest professors I've ever hard. Knows what she's talking about, presents her material well, always prepared for class. You will have to work in this class, but with this teacher, it's actually pretty fun and enjoyable. Not a teacher you can cruise by and expect an A, but seriously, one of the best!
My first class in PoliSci, and with her it was a great experience. Everyone is basically on point with her, not an easy A, ur gonna have to work, but she's soooo fair, kind, and she can be funny. Has great chemistry with her students, very understanding. If you need a PoliSci class, take one with her, there can not be anyone better
Great prof. If you can get into one of her classes go for it. Shes tough but you will learn a lot. She is bright and enthusiastic about her classes and her students. She is always willing to help and is very understanding. All she asks for is that you participate and come to class. If you need extra help her door is always open. Easy to talk to.
One of the best professor I have ever had. She is very smart, understandable and helpful. You do have to work very hard but it is not impossible to get an A in her class. She is not a professor that you take and forget but a person that you will never forget in your entire career.
Great Prof!!! Very smart, fair, and objective. Not as much work as people say and everything is pretty easy. She is very clear and fair with all of her assignments and tests (gives review sheets). Plus she is ALWAYS AVAILABLE TO HELP YOU, will spend hours going over tests and papers with you. She is a great teacher and is always there to help,
She's 1 of the few considerate/dedicated teachers @ QC. A lot of work, but it's not as hard as it seems. Very fair grader and she's always willing to help & gives u specific study guides. She's not like others that give u a study guide w/ every word u learned frm day 1 n only 2 out of 500 words show up on tests. I give her a 10+!
She is a very intellegent professor, her class setting is very relaxing and interesting. Prof. George has a unique ability to make politics enjoyable, and is truly intrested in making sure that her students get a quality education. READ THE BOOK. taking notes not necessary her powerpoints are informative enough and she explains material clearly.
The most caring, accessable professor you'll ever have. Class is very laid back, and she truly wants it to be interesting. Isn't the easiest grader by any means, but is recommended.
Probably one of the best professors you can have. Genuinely interesting, fun and caring. Willing to help you reach your highest potential, as long as you approach her and help yourself by inititaiting effort and making her advice work for you. Come to class; print out the powerpoints and add to them. Tests are fair--study! You get what you deserve.
She cares about her students, and wants them to do well. Allows you to rewrite your paper for a better grade. Midterm, final, and 2 papers. She gets behind on the sylabus, but she makes the notes available on blackboard in both powerpoint format and pdf. Class can get boring from time to time, but she tries to make it interesting.
Great and caring teacher. I would recomend this teacher to everyone.
There are no words to describe her...she's just purely amazing.
great teacher, BUT BEWARE because she is NOT easy. so unless your a really good student especially in writing so if your a decent student your gonna put in a lot of work and get a B but you will learn a lot.
great teacher, learned a lot but she does make you work...just took the final my hand is still crampling up...read the book, take good notes...was not that into int'l politics but i am now b/c of her...very sweet as well
I have taken 2 of her classes (103 and 233). She is a great professor. Classes are interesting and informative. She's a fair grader. You must do a lot of work to get an A, though.
This professor is very knowledgable in her field. She knows alot about political science. You can earn a good grade with her if you study but you will also learn alot. I learned so much with her in such a short time. She gives a couple quizzes a midterm and final. If you want a good grade and to learn about psci take her she is the best.
She is not nearly as hard as the other ratings say. There is a weekly writing assignment which is very simple, and two 5 page papers (which aren't very difficult). Basically if you read the textbook thoroughly you will do well on her tests. She is a very nice professor and you will learn a lot in her class.
She is in love with Political Science and that is what makes her a great professor. Clear, extremely knowlegeable and easy to listen to. Expects you to participate, expecially if you don't understand something. Tough grader, but you will learn a lot. Key to success: GO TO CLASS!!
1 Half page, weekly homework assignment. 2 five page papers, a midterm and a final. The professor is really into political science, and she really knows her stuff. She's very nice and tries to make it interesting. If you need anything outside of class, she is easy to reach.
Professor George is very intelligent and teaches well. However, she is prejudice and has favorites. She is an EXTREMELY hard grader. Just know that your GPA can possibly suffer a lot. I did all my work well and came to every class and recieved a C+. Definitely all of my hard work went down the drain. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. Your GPA willsuffer.
Professor George is a smart energetic teacher who clearly loves her job. However she is politically biased and thinks George Bush's foreign policy benefitted the U.S. Only take this class if your a right winger and like being brainwashed.
Hard to get an A she is a very tough grader.. but if your up to date on syllabus and study for the tests and put in some effort a B+ is very easy to obtain ..she is very interesting
she is ok.
She is very HARD GRADER. It is really true. But, she is good professor.
Prof. George is really great. The class was interesting and set up well so the student gets a good understanding of the subject. Tests and reports are all straight-forward and graded very fairly. The class is a bit early but she kept it very interesting with her discussions. She's funny but also informative, I strongly recommend Professor George.
Great professor, loves what she teaches,is always very understanding and helpful. If you enjoy psci classes def. take her!
Wow- great professor! I had a lukewarm interest in politics before her class, but she made it really interesting. Challenging class, though, you need to work hard for an A and know the material REALLY well. NOT AN EASY A CLASS. But it's totally worth it.
Prof. George is a professor I would recommend to anyone because you learn a lot from her. Her class is interesting but she spends a lot of time talking about her family and getting sidetracked. She speaks a lot of Georgia and Stalin. Oh, she's a pretty tough grader and don't really give As.
She is a nice professor who is willing to help out her students-I enjoyed hearing her personal stories about her trips to Russia and Georgia. She just takes forever to grade stuff.
She is a great professor. Her lectures are great and she does a great job of explaining the material. She can be very funny. She is also really helpful if you ask. She can be a tough grader, but I got an A just by working hard. I would definitely recommend this professor.
She is one of those profs that will never give you an A. She thinks shes funny and so smart she tries so hard to answer questions from students that no one could possible answer but she wants to appear as though she knows everything. There was way too much work for this class and she has a snarky attitude.
You'll learn a lot but don't expect an easy A. There's quite a bit of reading but if you keep up with it and pay attention in class, you should be okay. Also, don't leave the papers until the last minute.
She is hands down the best professor in the political science department. If you want to learn, take her classes. She is passionate about material and extremely knowledgeable. If you put in the work you can get an A.
Professor George is of a different caliber. Her lectures on democratic transitions were thought-provoking, lucid, and engaging (for more than the fraction of QC students who consider education a privilege). And, yes, her reading assignments were often lengthy and dense, but she is equally as eager and sincere in helping her students with anything.
Great professor, but be prepared to do the readings and show up for class. Not for the faint of heart or mind.
She is a good teacher, & explains her concepts very well in class. However, her online notes are summarized/shortened. She was very considerate, & accepted late submissions of papers. However, she deducts 5 points just for making the paper 1-page too long. I never knew there could be such a thing But she knows her stuff well & has been to Russia.
Shes very enthusiastic and passionate about the subject. She is a hard greater and she definitely keeps it that way for a reason. A B grade in her class is an A in another political science class, which means you learned something, and didn't just play the system for GPA points. Definitely one of the best at Queens.
i loved her. she's funny and goes off topic but with interesting stories
It may have just been the semester i had her (with hurricane sandy messing everything up), but i did not really find this class useful. We spent the whole semester on silly and redundant terms, and only started looking at specific countries a week before the final. Also very stingy with the final grade.
I am a Senior student at QC, and have had many different professors. Professor George is without a doubt the best I've taken. Knowledgeable, energetic, enthusiastic, funny, and extremely helpful, such a nice person... An inspiration to anybody that wants to follow a career as a professor. Take her if you value your education!
Take this professor if you are interested in learning and want to learn how to think. I am returning to write this review one semester after having taken Professor George's class because I am realizing now that she teaches skills of analysis and writing, which are applicable to many fields. Her lectures are thoroughly entertaining.
She is the best of the best...easy easy easy!!! Recommend to everyone taking political science
Great professor. Great class.
A great teacher, knows more about Russia than any other professor. Lectures can be a little slow, but subject matter is great. She's cute too
She's a great professor. Helpful, nice, and she's always there if you need her. She's a bit hard though workload wise, but if you keep yourself on top of things, you should do well in her class.
Class participation and doing the little assignments she gives will be essential in doing well in the course. Overall a great professor, but you have to meet her half way and do all of your work and readings (or at least skiming the readings before class)
Such a nice professor and is always there to help her students. Her lectures were spirited and fun and i always looked forward to attending class. Very fair with her assignments and will help you succeed.
She is an amazing professor! One of my favorites so far. She isn't easy though but if you put in the work you can expect to do well. You will learn in her class though and she is very passionate about the subject so the lectures are never boring. There will be a lot of reading but it isn't too bad. Just make sure to go to her if you need help.
I absolutely reccomend taking any of her courses. You do have to work a little but she provides clear guidelines for all of her work she assigns. She wants to see her students do well and will work with you. She is a great person and teacher.
Energetic, Engaging, Passionate. You will love her, but prepare to work and read.
Professor George is an energetic, intelligent, hard working woman. She loves when her students participate and is a good story teller. Her tests, however, are a bit difficult. She is a tough grader and wont give you an A unless you REALLY go above and beyond simply answering. She could add more humor to her lectures as well so it is less dull.
An excellent communicator and orator. Her class is among my most enjoyable experiences in college. A deeply sophisticated professor who is a joy as a person. always there to help. She did take a extended amount of time to return papers and exams. And while you can get away without reading, it only helps you further on exams and papers.
Great professor. Her tests are very fair, as is the grading criteria for papers.
Professor George is an amazing lady. She's so passionate about her classes that you don't even realize time go by. She posts her lecture slides online so that's helpful but don't think the slide replace the lecture. Take good notes, do the readings and you're sure to get a good grade in the class
Lectures were very interesting and engaging. A lot of reading, which is required for blog posts every other week. 3 essays and a final exam/essay with topics based on the readings, but she's a pretty tough grader. Hard to get an A but very doable if you do the readings and follow her rubric for essays. Awesome professor and class
Amazing professor with lots of passion. She is such a super genius but makes sure her students are engaged in her lectures and the material. Decent amount of work and reading but it's all very interesting and informative. Highly recommend!!! She also has a great sense of humor.
Amazing professor. She makes everything seem interesting and has great personal stories to tell. Her exams are short answers with an essay but if you read and take notes you should be fine. If you want to take any Poli Science course take her!
She is a great teacher and I learned a lot from her class. Only one problem is that she shrieked at a female student who started to talk bad about then President Barack Obama, yelling "this is empirical poli sci, not normative," along with what seemed to be a primal shriek. She later apologized to the girl. But wow, a little unreal.
Fantastic lady, great personality. She gives you blog posts to do every so often. Three papers based on the textbook readings. She assigns three textbooks in this class on Genocide. Her lectures can seem to be monotonous in the sense that a lot of information is repeated. This can make for a boring class. Nonetheless, she is caring/respectable.
extra nice professor, however she does not review for exams and her review sheet is essentially all the material for that part of the test. She is alittle boring as its hard to stay up in class, she is still a very nice teacher. also must know textbook definition or you will lose points, must be exact.
Her class is by far not an easy A, you have to put alot of work out and alot of reading inorder to understand the material. She is not to helpful especially preparing for exams, and the study sheet is beyond useless, as a poli sci major see is one of the worst
grade broken down, 15% on bi weekly 1 page essays,15% on a 3-4 page essay comparing two countries, 20% on a 5-6 page essay that is based on a 400 page book you must read, 50% 2 tests that are 40 vocab words per test and an essay topic she does not tell you about. I spent way more time on this class then my Bio major, really tuff must study.
Nobody gets an A in her class. Im a PoliSci major with grade point average 4.0. Never got less then an A in any other PoliSci class until Professor Julie George. Did all the work, papers, exams, and participated very often in class. Wouldnt recommend her for any PoliSci class.
I took her for the second time this semester and she's actually so inspirational. Psci 200 is a research methods course will tons of work but, Professor George made the researching process so simple. If you're a psci major, take Professor George for 200. Just show Prof George you care and are actually invested in the class and it's an easy A.
Prof George is fantastic!!! She's passionate about her subject which makes you interested. She is very down to earth and change it up if she sees the class is bored. She is very understanding and is flexible too. For the final paper she changed it from 6-8 pages to 3 pages, comparing 2 countries to 1, and gives you recommended sources. Love her!
Shes soooo nice. Wants everyone to pass and have a good time. She actually reads these reviews, and changes up the work based off what students say on here, which I personally appreciated. People said it got boring, so she added group assignments. She said the textbook was mandatory and I got it, but you honestly don't need it.
She is a very nice professor, but the course is extremely difficult. My best advice is to read the textbook she requires and study at least a week in advance before the exam.
Professor George was my favorite prof in college. She cares about your learning and she cares about you as a human being. She is invested in you getting the best out of her class. Her class is hard and you must study but by the end you truly feel like youve learned and youll always remember the material. Absolutely take het! She is an A+ prof
Prof. Julie George is a warm, caring person. She knows her topic and is very good at presenting it to students. You will learn in her class, and enjoy learning. This is a basic, introductory course, good for PSci majors or non-majors, good for freshmen or advanced students. This is a good, fun course to take, taught by a good, fun instructor. .
Took her comparative politics class. She is a very approachable professor. Clear assignments. Willing to help. Id totally recommend her
I love Professor George. I've taken 4 classes with her, and she's one of the best profs at QC. She makes her expectations very clear, her work load is reasonable, but most of all Prof. George wants her students to succeed. She understands life circumstances, gives tons of extra help, and has such an interesting body of knowledge to provide.
Funny, personable, grounded, and wise. Will give you solid advice. Makes herself available to you and gives great feedback. There's a reason why she has *57* 5s including this review. She supports the students through and through. Only problem is she over-works herself, so she might grade assignments late or not have office hours. She's a real one.
Take her!!! She is such an amazing teacher and always bringing the good energy to class. She is very understanding and caring and wants her students to do well. She genuinely cares about what you think and will always have her students best interests at heart. Show up to class and do the work. Won't regret an easy grade, just put the effort.
Her previous reviews are so misleading. Yes she is a nice person as a whole and she know her material but the class is just too difficult for a beginning level class. exams aren't even based on notes but rather on the readings that she assigns which are like 3 different books. I was tricked by her ratings. ITS UP TO YOU TO MAKE CHANGE!!
Makes the easiest course the most difficult. No extra credit or curve to improve your grade. tons of reading. WISHED SHE CURVED!!!!
Professor Julie George is great, the readings might be a lot but it's beneficial and will help during the exams. She is willing to help you and answer any questions you might have.
