Seems mean, but after a while you realize that she is OK. She is very unforgiving, but very smart. You have to study yer butt off for her class, but you will learn the material.

Her tests are really a pain. READ THE QUESTIONS VERY VERY CAREFULLY. alot of trick questions. Dont buy the book, take notes carefully and try to listen if you stay awake. And the quizes are crutial. DONT MESS UP THE QUIZES! GOOD LUCK. GET TO LIKE RED BULL. SHELL PUT YOU TO SLEEP.
She is a very hard teacher. She is very unclear and her tests are hard and they don't make sense.
The most arrogant teacher ever I have seen in my entire life. Her class looks like a miltary class so many students withdraw at early stage. No matter how hard you try you barely satisfied in her class.
Holzner is perferable over Auzu if you need Econ. Her lectures are boring and she has a monotone voice, but what she lectures on is on the test. She also tends to repeat what you need to know multiple times. The tests have a lot of trick questions, so be careful!
This is a great professor if you want to learn the basics of Economics. Granted, she isn't the most lively & entertaining, but she knows her stuff & teaches it well.
Pr. Holzner is a master of the teaching economics, especially for those who attempts to persuade career in business field. The tests were based on the lectures, which were realtived to the material in the book.
I did'nt like her at all or her teaching style. I took macro with her in 2001 and was getting a D. I dropped her class and took macro at ELAC and got an A.
Shes a pretty good teacher, real boring, but her tests are really tricky. You might read something but itll turn out to be the complete opposite. Monotoned but clear.

Very easy but her tests are hard. she lectures very well and i was able to get an A. The tests are not as easy but if u want an A just read the textbook and takes notes in class.

Excellent teacher. She gets down to business. For you to pass, you MUST take well informed notes and read the chapters. She WILL keep you busy with online homework. ADVICE: Always review and memorize her notes & examples online. I.E.: Always READ!! Analogical Complexity: The ARMY primes soldiers; she primes extraordinary business people.
She's a good teacher. The material is easy and she explains it clearly and thoroughly.
I think she explian good, and very easy to understand. Also she repeats important staff and you are not gonna miss it. Her exam is difficult so that you should take well note. I like her class.

She is an exellent teacher. 100 percent take her. Easy to pass.
Test can be confusing, because of the way she words the questions. Most of test material is from the lectures. She drops one test score and has group quizes. Make sure you do the extra credit. It's worth a whole grade on any test. I have a B in class but will be getting an A because of the easy extra credit.
She is boring!! if you want to pass the class you have to re read the chapters like 3 times, which means she is not a good teacher, if she was you wouldnt even have to read the book to understand the subject. Don't take her if you dont want her to mess up your GPA later on, or if you dont want a W in your transcripts.
The most challenging class I have ever taken. Her lecture and textbook are excellent very clear and understandable. A lot of work for online homework. Quiz everyday. She is very fair on grading, 65% to pass the class. Test can be diffcult sometimes. Give you extra credit so you can raise your grade. A-

Holzner is a satisfactory professor with a firm grasp on her subject. Tends to exercise firm control over class (roll, seating) so don't be late. Classes are HEAVY on lecture. Listen closely, take good notes, and you'll pass if you're even halfway intelligent. If you think her class is hard or boring, good luck making it in the real world.
Excellent teacher. This class is not an easy "A," it requires reading the chapters 3 times and your notes 7 times to get the picture. Secret to an "A": Read the Chapters and study the answers provided on Aplia assignments. Oh, remember there's nothing like having the actual Econ book to study with. Don't rely on Aplia for reading, buy the book!
Warning! Prof. knows her material but does not give students any feedback. You never know how you are doing in her class. I should have assked early on, but didn't! Hard to get her to crack a smile. Be sure to do very well on every quiz, on-line graded test and exams. You will not receive any points for effort!

She really knows her subject very well, and explains the material clearly, but the class is really hard. You will learn a lot, though. (Probably more than you really wanted to) She is also a real stickler for atttendance, and missing classes can drag down your grade. The Aplia assignments suck :(

Very boring woman. However, she knows her stuff and she enjoys what she teaches. This is a good class to take if you need a challenge and this is what you plan to use in the later life. I Failed, I have no interest whatsoever in numbers and graphs, but she is not a bad teacher in any way. Make sure this is what you want to take she's no joke.

She is a total **** and she is so serious. She takes role and make assigned setting charts. She seems to teach good but when you get the tests, quizes, its hard. I studied hard for her class and ended up getting a D. She gives lousy extra credit. I wont not recommend her. She takes the econ stuff too serious. Dont take her class! Beware
I definitely do not recommend her. her lectures are very monotonous,doesnt know how to smile. holzner doesnt like students getting up to use the restroom while shes teaching. however,she knows what she is talking about.
How she got a job teaching is absolutely mazing! No interpersonal skills, very restrictive and controlling. Tests are hard, unrealistic and crammed in to a short period of time. You will be up all night studying for her exams. If that's what you want go ahead and register and don't even think about being sick.
This professor knows her subject!! Before taking her class I flunked economics and generally thought economics was a waste of time. Professor Holzner helped me to better understand the world because of her dedication to teaching this course.

Yeah --she is tough but fair. This course requires good note taking and an open mind. Regular attendance is critical and recorded.
She explains very well. Be sure to read the book before lecture if u want to know what the hell she talks about. Be there since the first day 'cause she only explains the syllabous once. I didn't know there were online quizes after the third week. (online quizes since the first week)
She likes to make the tests unusually tough and emphasizes memorizing information that one most likely will not use. She can't relate to the proper time or place that she is living in. A more business approach and enthusiasm would help her skills. She does help when she repeats information.
i strongly advice you to pay very close attention to her lectures. dnt day dream 4 a single min.Write EVERYTHING she says down, including graph examples. otherwise you will not get the questions on the exams corect. diff. colored pens 4 graphs help alot wen tking down notes. You'll c dat evrything on the exms were wat what she went thru in class.

Well she is a pretty good teacher. The lectures are long and boring but you still learn something. Recommend sitting in the back, I played PSP and slept everytime she lectured. There are tons of quizes and tests which are hard and challenging. I was able to get a good grade without even opening the book or studying so dont waste your time.

Some people will find her class intolerable. It's not that bad though. If you can get past her monotone voice and dull atmosphere you can pass. There is a lot of book work and the tests can become very difficult. She is at least knowledgeable and her lectures are clear.
I absolutely recommend Professor Holzner if you are an "econ" or a "business" major. I took her for both micro and macro and her lectures get you right into the world of economics. You really really have to take good notes on her lectures. She doesn't use textbooks at all. If you study her notes, you will be fine!
Very nice class. Took it online and still didn't need the book. Every week she would send us lecture notes, and as long as you studied those, and commented once a week in the forums, you will do fine in the class.
One of the most boring and uninteractive professor I have had the misfortune of having. The entire class basically consists of her saying 5 sentences over and over and over and over and over again. This works out at the start of the semester but once things start to get complicated you will need to ask questions too bad she hates answering them.
Yes, she is not easy, but A is achievable. Took her for both Econ 1 and 2. Awesome class, learned a whole lot. If you're willing to work, u'll do fine. A piece of advice: her tests are entirely based on her notes. So, be sure, to pay attention in class and take really good notes... Plus, she is a really nice person, very helpful.
CUTE. She's very charming in her own way. At first she appears to be strict and ready to whip you in leather, but she makes jokes as the semester goes by. ANAL. Extremely strict. She has her own seating arrangement. She wants homeworks/tests collected in order. UNDERSTANDING. She repeats sentences over and over again for people taking notes.

Great teacher! I did Econ 1 in class and Econ 2 online. There is studying to do and a lot of tests so the class seems hard but this IS college. Holzner is a very fair grader too. She just wants to see effort.
she's very monotone. online hw every week based on a chapter. about 7 quiz and 4 test. drops bad grades at the end which is a plus. i thought i was going to fail because i wasnt doing so well but she gave me a C which makes me think that i could have actually gotten an A if i tried. so in other words she might come out hard but stick with it
She's a rather composed teacher that would talk at a level of tone just enough for you to make out her words. It's a rarity for students to ask her questions since her answer always seems to be "i've gone over this material." But i wouldn't exactly call her mean. Her class is overall durable.
Great teacher, she was very helpful and accommodating. Although her exams will challenge you, she drops low scores and makes tons of extra credit available. So your grade is essentially yours to earn, you will definitely learn a lot in the process. I was impressed, I highly recommend her especially if you?re a Business or Finance major. Good luck!
I took her online class and I really liked her class. I never liked study any classes beside Math and Art. But her class was very interesting. I am going to take her class for Econ 2 online, too, for fall. I highly recommend to take her class. she's a fair grader. she helps you a lot, gives extra credits to do. she drops the lowest grade.

AVOID. I took her online class and had an issue with submitting the midterm. She gave me a 0 for a computer issue that was not my fault. Other students had the same problem and she gave them zero credit as well. I met with her in person to go over the material and she seemed annoyed. Monotone voice. Unhelpful!

Although the material is rather difficulty, the teacher has it organized and presented pretty well. The teacher is responsive to students questions, but seems somewhat unsympathetic to students difficulties.

Not worth the stress. This is coming from a CSULA student with a 3.8 GPA. You will not APPRECIATE Econ taking it from her. If you have to take her, read (and memorize) the textbook. The class is ridiculous. Try to ask her something she'll pick a fight.
By far the worst teacher in history of LACC, she's an idiot dosn't care about anything..like a robat no human qualities whats so ever...i just think she hates her life so she takes it out on her students...my computer froze while taking the midterm and she wouldnt let me take it again so i got a 0/100....she needs to get fired.

Julie Holzner is unfortunately extremely unhelpful, gives trick questions, unreasonable time limits on timed quizzes and is not clear about writing assignments. It is too bad the Social Science Dept. selected her for full-time status. A teacher who is less miserly in their approach to teaching would have served the student population better.
Class was not easy but it is straight forward. There is no homework at all. A well trained monkey that does what it is told could get an A. If you are looking for an instructor that is fun, look elsewhere. That said, those that did poorly did so because they don't work hard enough. Should be mandatory to list your GPA before rating professors.
The textbook is written by her. Easy to learn from. You must study the chapters and understand it but the chapters are short and straight to the point. I only wrote this because the other reviews don't do her justice.
She's very unhelpful, Lectures are painfully boring. She made us buy electronic clickers and sign up for an account, which cost us about $40-$60, then we never used them once. All our tests were scantron multiple choice, and her final was complicated graphs and word problems. Something we barely started working on the last week. Not recommended
Professor Holzner is a straight forward professor she does not give any homework, but there are weekly test to keep your mind aware of subject. The test are fair even though you get a bad grade on them it prepares you for her midterms and final overall i think she is a good professor.

If you are someone who has the guts to face the challenge, take this teacher. Her tests were pretty challenging, but it's a myth to hear about it being "hard" study and follow the instructions. When she says reaad the chapter twice, SHE MEANS IT! I took her last Fall 2011 and she's an amazing professor. Her book is easy to understand.
Took online, her chapters are short and to the point. It is a tough class but if you really work at it you can understand the concepts. She doesn't like stupid questions and seems to have a short fuse with students who are lazy or not applying themselves. Professor Holzner is a person who is straight forward. Do all your weekly questions and quizzes and study and you will find her class not so hard. But if you do not put in the time it will be hard because her questions tend to trick you.

She is extremely monotone and dull. Drink lots of red bull before class! she sells her self-written textbook for $65, no other way to get it! takes roll before every class, mandatory attendance. If you leave to use the bathroom, she locks the door and will not let you back in! (personal experience). Only take her if you have no choice!
I don't care for this class, she's not a nice lady at all. Her vibe is almost creepy. She doesn't seem to care about ensuring the success of her students like other professors who genuinely want to see their students do well & lend themselves as help. Silly rules & silly assignments. You can't go to the bathroom for 2 mins w/o being marked absent.
Took this class online requirement of my major. The book is not well written,confusing and a lot of grammar errors, book written by the professor. A total of 4 confusing quizzes at the end of each week relating to the chapter covered that week. There are a lot of silly rules. Take at other campus. Only Prof at LACC who teaches this course.
She does not deserve to be called an educator. I learned NOTHING in this made-up online class. Her tests are ridiculous (you take 4 every week) and her "book" is written by her which is almost entirely MADE-UP, poorly worded, repetitive, and false in a lot of cases(and costs $68). Do yourself a favor and pick another professor.

I am wondering about the definition of professor while I am hearing what she is saying. What she says is not that clear, there is no way we can apply the knowledge in the class to the real world. She just remembers exactly what she writes in her online book. That's it. She knows exactly how to earn money since she is still an economist.
Monotone voice, a little repetitive. However, she is clear and simplistic which makes things easy to remember and synthesize for exams. she is strict with her policies but they reduce distractions so I am okay with it.
Professor Holzner is a great and helpful professor. Of course, you need to do a lot of reading and studying but she goes over the material few times and makes sure everyone understood it. If you don't like to work don't take her. She is very helpful and fair grader.

I thought that Professor Holzner was not a hard teacher. However, I did not learn anything from her class. All her quizzes and tests are easy only if you actually study the material which is the online book written by her. Attendance seemed to be mandatory but I received an A even with five absences. Just don't miss class when there is a quiz.

I am in a math major and think math is confusing in the beginning of the semester, but now i am glad that i am not into econ. Wooohooo lets just get over it. WHY she makes econ sooooo boring and long????????? STAY AWAY if you want to learn at least something
Professor Hozlner has a lot of knowledge about Econ. However, her lectures are long and boring. You cannot leave the class. Tough tests. You can not have the e-book on the class. She lectures word by word her bad written book. Do not recommend.
Stay away! She is one of the worst profesors I have ever encountered. Her lectures are as horrible as her written book, if you can even call it that since it has such a poor quality! She has no interest in helping out her students and her teaching skills are just terrible.
I took this class because I got accepted to a MBA program from this semester. The material (textbook) made by her is limited, but there is no wasteful words in the book. Just focus on the book and the way she evaluates us. You will get A. However, to be honest, if you are going to transfer to Business Major, this class may not enough to you.
Very Knowledgeable regarding Econ but social interaction skills are lacking. Control freak. Calls roll twice to get you for leaving early. Multiple in class test (scantron) and pop quiz. She is not approachable. No humor here. Her way or the highway. Keep up with the online assignments, dont miss class and keep your mouth shut and you will pass.
Here is how you pass her class. Take the online class only because in the inclass she basicaly reads off the online book and is not helpfull. The grade is based of tests that can be retaken untill you get an A. Tip. The 10 minute etudes test require to read before hand because they are 10 question. Else open tabs and crl + f to pass
Do yourself a favor and take this class at another school. Ms. Holzner is not helpful nor is she clear on assignments. My Econ 101 Professor warned me to take with another teacher, I should have listen. Got a C in the class, pretty sure after I added up all my points I should have received an A. Not sure what all the fuss is about. I took Prof Holzner for Econ 1 winter session and she was very helpful and kept engage with the students if they needed any help. The class was a bit challenging because i took it over winter session and it required a lot of work but it definitely isn't hard if u study. Taking her online is the best option.

Class consists of lectures, quizzes, and online assignments. You can redo online assignments until you get a perfect score. Her quizzes are worded so weirdly that it seems that it doesn't correspond to whatever you just learned. Either give us hw that prepares us for the quiz or don't give us quizzes that ask for more than what you've taught us.
I've taken Econ 1 and 2 with her. The key to passing is to take her online!! Her class is structured and was somewhat easy. Its tedious with the homework chapters each week but its not too bad. Honestly, her quizzes are easy if you can google. This is where the opportunity is for her. She should write her questions to give students a challenge.

The online class is designed to set people up to fail. There's a 10 minute timer on the quizzes for 10 questions that aren't straight-forward. Many in the class have been complaining that it is not enough time. Yet, she has been extremely rude about it. I have no problem with level of difficulty but she needs to give us descent time.
This professor is ridiculous! I took her online class and her quizzes were good for only 10 mins. She's the most unprofessional professor I took in LACC because she never listened to our complains regarding how she grades and how she replies when I had a question. She's so rude. Unbelievable!!! Don't take her class. Just take it somewhere else.
There are two things I really disliked: 1. She doesn't seem too interested in helping anyone. 2. She wrote the textbook for this class, and hasn't bothered revising it or running it past an editor. Terrible grammar, missing punctuation, and concept explanations are overly-simplistic. Ironically, she demands proper spelling and grammar. Stay away.

Great Professor! Really enjoyed her class, easy to pass with an A by simply following her instructions. Don't be fooled by her military rules about class behavior, this professor has zero tolerance for students going in and out during the lecture. But really nice to those who show efforts and involvement in the class. Very little textbook reading.
If she's your only option for Econ, take it online! Her material isn't hard, she's just annoying! She treats you as if you were in high school, her teaching skills suck! (sooo boring) Everything she teaches during class is on her online book. She's also picky with how she runs her class & drops many students. Please, take her online or not at all.
I took her online class. It's a tough class but if you do your homework, you should be okay. I had to frequently use Youtube videos to supplement the online textbook. The 10 minute tests were stressful and some of the questions were totally different than the material we studied, but she does this to make sure you truly understand the concepts.
Her online class was how an online class is expected to be. I took it during the Summer, so it went by really fast. However, the eText we used was not good. Comic Sans figure captions, and some graphs were so beyond pixelated and low-res it was hard to see them. Learned about Economics, but it seems like the class was kind of thrown together.
As someone who regularly attends UCLA, I found Professor Holzner exceptional. Read the syllabus. The class is 1.5 hrs, you don't need to go to the bathroom that badly. Be respectful. She's an intelligent woman with great experience and excellent insight. You will learn a LOT from her if you pay attention. Word of advice: don't leave early.
-Her, required, book is miraculously repetitive while managing to be vague; i.e. quiz questions are not IN the text, but ARE in the key terms at the end, even though no examples were given -The book has typos, yet she demands proper use of the English language -Exhibits are often misplaced, of poorly quality (hand drawn, comic sans font)
She is a very rude professor, gave me such a hard time to just add the class. Then she insulted me saying I was stupid. Right then and there I dropped her class I will take ECON somewhere other than LACC because she is the only teacher there who teaches ECON.
Professor Holzner is easy-going. Class consists of HW, disussions, quizzes, and tests. Access to book and HW needs to be purchased. Professor Holzner focused on concepts and its applications, which may not be ideal for students who depend on memorization alone. Strong understanding of Micro will be helpful, along with capacity for critical thought.
This professor sucks. She demands entirely too much. I think she does it because she has some sort of superiority complex. The reason that we take classes is to learn and retain information but good luck doing that with this witch. When you approach her with concerns, she is condescending and rude.

Very straightforward class! I took the 8 week online course and passed with an A. Majority of the homework is taking quizzes, but if you read the textbook you will pass with an A.
Econ 2 has more complex concepts than Econ 1, yet she still wants to continue with the 10 questions test under 10 minutes. Even after many complaints that I have heard of, she doesn't care. I believe she is there to just collect a paycheck and that she feels some sort of power watching students fail. Too bad unions will still support her.
Took her online, the book she uses is pretty bad. It's vague and doesn't have a lot of info or go into detail. Graphs are badly sketched hand-drawn images. I often had to watch YouTube videos to properly learn. Tests are stressful, the questions aren't in the book and you only get 10 mins for 10 questions.
Took her for econ1 and 2 both online. I had no problem with her, I would recommend to finish the online homework asap since it can be taken at an unlimited amount of times before its deadline. Make sure to participate in her discussions and you'll be fine. The 10 question quizzes in 10 mins can be stressful but make sure to study and use resources
This teacher is ridiculous! She makes you take an excessive amount of exams. First you take the ebook exam and questions and you can retake as many times as you want. But when it come to canvas good luck because you have 1 minute per question. Some questions can be paragraph form! DONT TAKE HER! Shes not helpful at all!!!
Took her online, the book is written by her which you would think would help. It doesn't. Its very poorly written,vague and difficult to read. Her tests are written in a way to confuse you rather than to actually test your knowledge. Test results are also hidden from students so there's no real learning involved. Do yourself a favor and skip her.
Hides test results so you don't even know what you got wrong or why. Tests you on material not covered in the book then claims its college so you should just know things. Uses uncommon idioms in tests, so goodluck if you're foreign. Better hope you know what a "bumper crop" is because thats on the test. Oh and you get a minute to do math problems.
10 minutes to finish a 10 question quiz. Lots of studying. Cannot see what questions you got wrong after taking the test. Only one attempt. I would recommend getting another professor.
As others already stated. Quizes give you 1 minute to answer questions. It's crazy that you can't review what you did wrong. I like to review what I did wrong but you don't have access. I'm taking an online class, but in order to review your work you need to go to the office? Really!
No reason to take econ here with this professor. She has weird quiz rules with one attempt and 1 minute, and overall you're sacrificing your grade by taking her. As a LACCD student, you can take an econ class at any of the 9 colleges. Take online econ 1 or 2 at another college with a better professor, as she's the only one here that offers econ.
Horrible teacher. Would never recommend her to anyone. Text book she requires for the class is her own, but the test material is nothing like the book which doesnt make sense. You have 10 questions each week and get 1 minute per question that involves math. So you end up guessing for half of the questions since there is no time to do quality work.
The textbook is really easy to follow. She doesn't expect you to read the Wall Street Journal if you want to get an A, it's highly recommended.
I would say that Pr. is a normal teacher. I took this class in a short 5 weeks session, it was difficult, but normally difficult. I mean it doesnt supposed to be easy. This professor expect from you some work, but its normal right? I got a C, but I didnt deserve better grade.

Her class is very easy but she makes it seem very difficult. Her canvas quizzes will lower your grade dramatically. 10 min for 10 questions. By the time you are done reading the question and analyzing, your minute is up. Lecture is 1+23 questions are 1+25. Very confusing. Go take this class to another school, don't risk your grade.
It doesn't seem this professor cares to make this class easy to understand. Or that she cares her students pass. The graphs in her text are handwritten and sometimes hard to decipher on a computer screen. The quizzes in the text book are fair, but her quiz isn't. Ten very confusing questions timed for ten minutes! I do not recommend her.

You get quizzed on a completely different thing on the Canvas quiz which is also worded confusingly. 10 mins for 10 questions with math solving. You'll learn faster teaching yourself probably. She doesn't care about students learning. Save your money, protect your grades.
Not worth taking her econ 1 or 2 class, you bairly have a chance to do well. When I took her winter seesion class he quizess are redundant. Once I asked the special srvices to email a accommodation document to her, when she had it she said I'll increase the time by 50%, but when I took a quiz it's 15 minutes. It is clear not to risk your grade.
The professor clearly has issues with herself and projects a lot! It is important to not only know your material, but knowing how to teach it. Teaching is a skill! And she has none. Not one. Zero. She uses weird examples in the text and repeat herself a lot just in different words, charts in the book are hard to follow. 10 minute, 1 chance quiz on unrelated questions, once quiz submitted, no way to see what you got wrong. DON' TAKE
AVOID AT ALL COSTS Self-made-$70 textbook loaded quiz and assignments are not clearly communicated. Inefficient. Plus some etext questions are impossible to answer. Makes things intentionally hard. Screwing up wordings. 10 min for 10 questions while 3minutes are eat up by clicking "next" and waiting for next Q.
Required to buy professor's textbook. Usually 2-4 hours of reading each week. 2 multiple choice homework assignments and 1 Canvas quiz each week. Lowest quizzes are dropped from grade. No lectures or group assignments. Economics is tough online or in person with any professor.

I've taking her class for econ 1 and 2 both were similar in format everything is based on the ebook. She's very district in the physical classroom she gives more quizzes. No bathroom breaks. Her econ 2 which was more relax as there were no extra quizzes.
This professor will give you a 15 pg essay if you are willing to put in the work. This is not an English class, so why the essay. The purpose of it is so she sees you are well aware of the chapters and understandings of the principles. This essay did nothing, i still managed to finish it with her assistance. I took tutoring. This is my second time taking Professor Holzner and it's a miracle I passed because I failed most of the quizzes. The book that we use for this class is written by her and is very long-winded and redundant. The quizzes don't match what's in the book 98% of the time which makes it worse. Sadly, I have to take her for Macroeconomics.
The due dates for homework were unclear unless you had the $150+ access code for the website in which homework was on. I was automatically dropped from her class b/c I had missed every assignment for 3 weeks in a row. There were no clear dates on Canvas. Dropped w/ less than 1/4 of the semester left, after paying fees and falling behind in pandemic
Be prepared for a completely self taught class. She's always right, don't even question her. Completely narcissistic. She doesn't teach sQUAT. No zoom meetings, no lectures. No class meet ups. If you ask her a question, she sends you a pic of the syllabus and says to look in book. I've complained already but all LACC had to say was it's her class!!
Quiz/test materials do not reflect what is being taught through lecture notes and book. Provides no help at all to students. If you ask a question, be prepared to be answered with a copy/paste from the syllabus. One of the the worst so-called "professor" you'll ever have.

Terrible teacher I took online ECON with her and the class is very easy but the quizzes and work is very difficult. She gives you 10 minutes to solve 10 long questions that need time to solve. She doesnt care if you learn or not as long as you follow the rules. Im surprised how shes still teaching.
Makes you buy her $70 book because work is assigned from there. The book is terrible and does a bad job of explaining things. There is no other work other than tests. She's difficult, but as long as you complete all of the assignments and score at least 50% on your quizzes, you shouldn't have a problem passing. If you don't read and actively try to understand the material, you won't pass. If you're looking for something easy to check off on your transcript, find a differant professor.
I took her Econ 002 class because it was a major pre requisite. Professor requires you to buy her textbook which is filled with many grammar mistakes. I feel like I got a very oversimplification of what economics is and I often had to teach myself because her textbook isn't very useful in my opinion. Don't take if you don't need to.

I advise people to take Economics somewhere else because her class is the worst. The quizzes on Canvas are what screw you the most because they are 55% of your grade! You have only 10 minutes to answer 10 questions. It is not enough time. You can't even see what your grade is because she is too lazy, so you have to calculate it on your own.

This is the worst professor I have ever had the chance of taking a class from. I was doing all of the assignments but she still dropped me with no warning. Her book is $80 and honestly the only reason that you need it is for the homework and quizzes. Avoid if her class is the only option available and wait for next semester.
The fact that her quizzes are timed and given only 10 minutes is bizarre. Especially when her prompts take longer to read the actually answering. Very old school and dry. Isn't engaging. If you ask for help she sends you to the syllabus. I recommend someone else, someone who is more up to speed.
Does not offer help. Quotes her syllabus constantly to state a point. Overall her class isn't something worth taking. So many students are complaining about the same issue. Quiz heavy and the timing to take the quizzes are short. The prompts should be worth more than the quizzes as it allows the student to really break down the material.

She is a wonderful professor with discipline which I loved. She gives you quizzes 10 minutes for 10 multiple questions and the timing is fair. You ask a question she will help! Don't ask a question which already has an answer in syllabus which is right coz you are responsible to read! Her book is amazing for Eco 001, step by step you learn!

I'd have to say that this is by far the worst course I've ever taken. The text (written by her) is so dry and dull it's virtually impossible to fully grasp the concepts without external resources. The tests are 10-min timed multiple choice and some questions are so long that it takes a good 1-2 minutes just to read them! Horrible horrible class.
I would never have took this class if I would have known this professor has no communication I asked for clarification on assignment due dates and answers me with "did you read the syllabus?" All you need to know for this Econ001 class is that Quizzes account for 55% of the overall grade and they are all 10 questions in 10 minutes. 1 minute a question?! And you only get one attempt. Absolutely ridiculous! Especially when these are critical thinking questions. Avoid at all cost! I just dropped her for Econ002.
I've taken Prof. Holzner for Econ 1 & 2. Mid overall but tons of reading and a lot of exams. I felt like I didn't learn a lot and her textbook is really confusing.
If you take the accelerated short term course, be ready for excessive amounts of work. Relies on textbook for hw and deadlines are strict and set to be done throughout the week. Quizzes are written out as if you already have prior experience with Econ. Made my brain hurt and struggled to actually learn. Class would be better with lectures.

The answers are all right there. It's the same routine each week where all the work is due every Monday at 8am. It is a lot of reading, but then again it's completely asynchronous. As long as u keep up with it, ur fine, just don't neglect it cuz work adds up.

Be prepared to COMPLETELY teach yourself the subject matter and take the weekly critical thinking quizzes in haste (10 questions in 12 minutes). She wrote the textbook and is sensitive about it, FYI. No actual teaching/learning takes place during zoom class. Only "check all that apply" polls the entire time. Jacob Clifford on Youtube saves.
I don't think this class was hard by any means, but I find it hilarious how bad her mandatory textbook for $124 is. Thankfully it was covered for me but in my opinion, the textbook is just poorly written. You can learn more about macroeconomics from a series of YouTube videos.
Bad professor, assigns $110 textbook (that she wrote) that is poorly written, convoluted, and overall unhelpful. Would not reccommend.
It's obvious that this professor only cares about making a profit by requiring her students to buy a textbook that she wrote. The book is very confusing and the material is written in a confusing way. If you are not an economics major and not familiar with certain terms, I would not recommend taking this professor.

I have checked this platform how she is as a professor and she is rated very low. I still took her for ECON 1 and 2 because if the reason that she is the only ECON professor where I go. I took both of her subjects in a shorter term, it's not that bad but the book is a bit expensive and could've been written a little better.
Communication was great! i took the 8 week course and it was very manageable. Im not sure why she has very low ratings. I think her quizzes were straight forward. You can retake them until you get a perfect score. You have to use the textbook she has and it can be a bit pricy.

Overall I had no issues with her ECON 001 class you do have to buy the textbook so your able to answer the questions and quizzes but you have unlimited tries for those til you get a 100% as for canvas the quizzes you only have one try and they are worth 50% of your grade at the end of the class she also drops your two lowest scores
