good teacher, but she's very confusing when it comes to lecture
If you have to take this difficult chem class then this is the professor you want. For the most part she makes chemistry make sense. If you put in the work you can pass this class.
Ms. Lowe is very nice and treats everyone fairly. Any thing you need to know will be written on the board. Take good notes and study and you will pass this class. Don't procrastinate, study from beginning to end.
I hated chemisty prior to taking her class, but she made chemistry interesting and easy to understand. Her exams were hard, but if you study and ask questions...then you'll pass. She even postponed one of the labs, so we can take a field trip to KMC. My favorite was when we made soap in lab. Definetely reccommended!
Overall a good teacher, some miscommunications. Takes things too personally on occasion. I enjoyed the class though and was glad to have a professor who knew the material extremely well. Ask ?s until you understand, take good notes, keep up w/ studying, show up to class, and everything will work out. A little extra effort should get you an A.
Very clear lectures. Difficult tests, requires a great deal of studying. She makes herself very available to anyone who requires help. Overall she is a great teacher...
I had her for my lab instructor and she is awesome. she explains the material a lot more clearly than the lecture teacher did.
The class is interesting, and she knows her stuff. She is very clear, and tells you exactly what to study. If you do your homework and put in the time, you will pass easily.
ms lowe is a nice teacher but she doesn't explain things very well a lot of the time. To do good in her class you HAVE to come to every lecture and lab, and do all thw work. This is not an easy class.
This class was hard at first but after you get used to her teaching its not that bad. you must go to lecture and copy ALL of the lecture notes. She test on her lecture notes only!! Only used the text book for homework assignments. Be careful though she is always getting mixed up and has to refer to her own notes.
she is really good in teaching , but is really hard during grading... very specific about everything ...
Clear lectures and knows her material well..however very hard grader and her tests are difficult..
GOOD TEACHER I LEARNED A LOT AND SHE REALY LOVES HER TOPIC AND IT SHOWS
Ms. Lowe is a very helpful teacher and willing to help whenever even after hours. A major plus is she grades on a curve which helps. I got very very low grades and passed with a "B". If you are ready to learn and work hard then take Lowe i highly recommend her!!
Take her class ONLY IF ALL THE PROFESSORS OF CHEMISTRY HAVE DIED! BEWARE!
If you take this class you must be prepared to go to all classes and do whats asked. She gives very detailed note in an oderly fashion that will help greatly with tests. She's a very good teacher. She is very helpful. A little scatter brained sometimes. Grades on curve.
Um, this class is HARD! But, impossible=nope. Lowe is crystal clear in what she wants. Awesome lectures, and very passionate about her subject! But given her personality, you either like her or you don't. I loved her bubbly personality...it got me wanting to go to class :). And protect your extra credit! Cell phones OFF. good luck!
Ms Lowe was an awesome teacher. She was very interested in her students and very helpful. She wanted everyone to be successful.
Ms. Lowe is likable and knows her course of study but lacks effective teaching skills. She often became confused during lectures and as a result, had us erase what she had just written to change information. This was very confusing. She was inflexible and unwilling to take responsibility for her mistakes. Do the extra credit-you'll need it.
To all students that can't hang with Mrs. Lowe?s class should look in the mirror! The problem is not the way she teaches...she can teach HER class the way she wants. We will all have to deal with difficult people in are carriers..Deal with it....No one owes you anything!!! She is a good professor. Hard, Maybe but you determine YOUR grade
Ms. Lowe did not seem to have mastery of the subject, was unhelpful, and inflexable. I would rather drive to Taft than waste my money on retaking her class.
I can say the Mrs. Lowe's class is hard, but you do have to come to every lecture and lab and people are right she doesn't take no excuses. I think we all are just so use to being able to get away with excuses from many of our past teachers and she believes in hard work. I do feel that she can be confusin with her quizzes and exams though.
Prof. Lowe is a very upbeat and helpful teacher. She is very clear with what she expects from you, plus she grades on the curve, which helps. Attendence is necessary to grasp the material that she lectures on. In this class you can feel comfortable asking questions aloud and not be self-conscious about speaking up. Highly Recommended
Nursing students be warned! Do not get on her bad side. She does not grade all lab work and her tests are based on definitions plus anything in the chapter. You have to study 3 hours a day because her tests will have advanced math and chemical equations not the easy ones in study guide. Not recommended if you cannot commit to proper study time!
Mrs. Lowe isn't a bad teacher, however, her tests are hard. I studied two hours every night. Lowe is very meticulous so label everything in your work. She is willing to help during lab, and when the lab is short she'll stay behind to help ppl with any questions. She's a geek def.
Prof Lowe is a wonderful professor. Extremely helpful, approachable, and has a passion for chemistry. B11 is difficult no matter who you take, but if you work off structure and formation you will be fine. Lectures straight from the text which makes it very easy to keep up. She breaks things down to very simple terms and wont move on til understood.
Ms Lowe is enthusiastic in her teaching and has a friendly personality. She is very particular on what she wants on assignments/tests, so pay close attention to what she wants and ask questions!! Tests are hard, so make sure you study. Attendance is mandatory to comprehend the material in this class, it's a hard one no matter who you take it with.
Lowe is not the hardest teacher I've ever had, but she expects you to read her mind. Test questions are meticulously worded to trick you. The math requirement for this class is Math Ba but the first half of the class is complex math calculations that can be difficult for even the more math oriented students.
This teacher was horrid. I dropped after the first test because I had asked her about all missed question on previous labs, homework, and quizes and applied the 'help' to the test. I failed even though I had all units labeled, and every answer was correct in value and item. I 'worked' the problem incorrectly. Will NEVER take ANY class with her agai
She grades unfair!!! If your naturally an A student, expect a B in her section because her grading style is the most unfair out of EVERY professor I've EVER had!!! She grades only some of your labs and averages the ones her " doesn't have time" to grade. The margin of error can be huge! Plus, she doesn't hardly lecture and is OCD on showing work.
Chemistry is a difficult class. You must attend and study. I enjoyed Ms. Lowe's class and I asked questions and got help. I did what she said and I got an A. If the professor says to do it her way, then do it.
Lowe is a great teacher... for elementary school students. Her teaching lacks many good traits of a professional. She fails to relate concepts to students in a concise & understandable way. She is nice, but nice doesn't help students understand the course material. Her knowledge is strictly limited to her own guidelines. DO NOT TAKE LOWE!
Lowe is amazingly the WORST teacher.. I don't even recommend her for elementary teacher, The way she 'teaches' is incomprehensible; she lacks on explaining..and when she does, she goes only over The easy basic topic but on the Homework (online you will never find anything like your notes. DO NOT TAKE HER! unless you want a D.
Lowe is the WORST instructor I have ever encountered. She lacks the ability to teach and grade fairly on lab reports. Lowe is not approachable for discussion on graded work submitt. She tells one thing to one student and thing something different to another student for the same questionS. HIGHLY recommend not to take any class with Instructor LOWE.
Long story, short -- DO NOT TAKE THIS INSTRUCTOR.
She grades down for neatness, she grades down for basically anything possible. She waivers in her answers from student to student and doesn't answer questions.I would not reccomend her class to anyone regardless of prior knoweledge about chemistry, it won't help you in her class.
Chemistry is not an easy subject you must study and do the homework. Ms Lowe can be picky but if you do as your told your grade will not be affected. Ms Lowe is very helpful if you attend office hours and put time into your work. She is very nice if you get to know her.
She is very confusing in her mathematical methods. She makes the class that you cannot understand what it is. I took Chemistry a few years ago & hers is completely different. She is not organized and prepared. Good luck to even get a C. Seriously, do not take her though. Avoid her or take it somewhere else if you can.
great teacher, very knowledgeable and helpful! you must study and do all your work to pass her class, but she is willing to stay after class if you ask for help to ensure you understand the material. If I had to take any other chem classes she'd be the teacher I'd chose.
She is horrible. She even docks points for putting ur name on the wrong side! Its ridicoulous! Wouldn't reccomend her at all!
I would not recommend to take this class with her she is really tough and rude. When I would ask her for help she would tell me to go look at my book. She is a really tough teacher so if you take her be prepare to study at least 2 hours each day and she makes a lot of mistakes when she is lecturing.
You can take her in two ways. 1) Very meticulous, tough grader, tough tests, tough everything and barely helps or 2) She clearly wants you to grasp the idea to be organized, concise, think critically, so she needs to be tough. I mean, from the beginning she tells you ( A LOT) to get a tutor and get extra help cause its not easy. Its up to you.
She makes a lot of mistakes lecturing. Some times students even correct her when she thinks she's doing it right. You basically have to try & teach yourself. Homework would mess up online & we would show her that we got the right answers & she would still mark you off for it. Def. Recommend taking a different professor!
Go to every lecture. Go to every lab. Study every single day. Ms. Lowe is a meticulous grader. That means YOU need to be meticulous of your own work. Always show your work on tests! (be thorough) if you think you don't need to put something put it anyways! Stay after class and ask questions! It will make you look good in her eyes. Good luck 3
Long, boring and confusing lectures at times. She makes mistakes often so be prepared to erase your notes. She's not very clear on the subjects she teaches so be ready to review it yourself. The homework online is a joke, half of is isn't even explained in her lectures. The class is very demanding since you pretty much have to teach yourself.
Many mistakes while writing her own notes, even students point out what's wrong when she doesn't catch what she wrote down. "Extra credit" gets turned into "mandatory assignment" VERY harsh grader, points taken off labs for minute details. If you can take another teacher PLEASE DO IT. If you have to take her, don't rely on her lectures. Textbook!
Lowe is an awesome person, but her strategies are confusing and tough to follow. To pass, u memorize formula's, do on time online Hmwk, book Q's are leverage & Lab work is a 2 person deal for grade. Audio record & write down lectures, for it plays a big part on tests. STAY AFTER CLASS & ask Q's u need help on!! Major: Get a Tutor ASAP! U can do it!
You have to be there or you will be so lost. Chemistry is not an easy subject you have to pay attention. Everything she lectures is basically test worthy pay close attention, do your homework
Hardest class Ive taken so far. Sad thing is not because Chemistry is hard but because she made it that much harder. Homework was nothing like the exams. Exams were much harder. When i asked for help she asked if i read the book i said yes still dont understand then told me to ask my lab group. They didn't understand the material them selfs!
after reading previous rates and also feedback from other students, i was scared to take her. however, i was already in her class now taking her i love her she does help she may not be easy, but she will help you if you try she will make you work for it and it shouldn't be easy if you really want to know the material thanks professor lowe :)
I loved ms Lowe, i didn't think she was nearly has hard has everyone said honestly if you do the work and pay attention its totally passable. I liked her and her class just don't be lazy and you will do just fine!
I absolutely adored Professor Lowe! She is a tough grader, but if you pay attention and attend class you'll get a decent grade. Really study and there's no reason you shouldn't get an A or at a minimum a B. She cares about get students and absolutely loves when get students succeed. She is by far my favorite instructor I've ever had, period.
Chemistry is a hard subject you have to study to pass. This wasn't my favorite subject but the class was kindve interesting. She seems to have made a lot of improvements from previous semesters. I enjoyed the class and would take a class from her again. Attend class, take notes, study, do homework, and classwork-should get you a passing grade.
I'm not going to lie, i was scared to death to take the class with her because of all the negative feedback here, but once in class i realized she's a great teacher. i loved her teaching techniques. it is not an easy class but if you study hard enough it'll be easy to pass.
Ms. Lowe always made her self available after class and that was everything for me! She does expect you to know your stuff, but that's what we're here for, to learn! So, do as she suggest and put the time in and study!!!
She is a nice professor, but the class is very stressful! NEED to read the book and study the notes without a doubt! Office Hours are good, but sometimes asking her gets you confused. Take another professor if possible!
Professor Lowe is a great professor. Expect to read and review your notes that are taken in class. She is a hard grader, but with that said, she only wants the best for her students. Pay attention, do the homework, and study and you'll be fine.
In high school I took honors chemistry and it was brutal and the teacher was no help. So when I took ms. lowe I was shocked by how easy and clear the concepts were. In any science class its going to be rough, the teachers are serious when they say 2 hours of study a night. One thing I would change is for her grades to be posted online.
Highly recommend taking this course with Lowe, she is an amazing professor and enjoys teaching. The way she does her notes is outstanding. Do recommend recording and reading the book before lecture. STAY FOR OFFICE HOURS!! I cannot stress this enough, DO STAY if you have any questions. It is a tough course but you have to put in the work!
Ms. Lowe was wonderful!! Stay and ask for help, go to office hours, your notes are GOLD and make the cheat sheets off her notes for every chapter and you're going to do amazing! She really wants you to do well, but you can't not study for the class! Don't settle for low homework scores, they will save you. Pay attention to detail on your labs!
Professor Lowe tried the best she could to make the subject more interesting. She is a tough grader and has a tough criteria but will work with you in any way she can. She is very intimidating but you just have to try to meet her half way and she is such a kind person. Stay after class and do extra times in lab to better understand models
Ms. Lowe is great! She's quirky, and I think that is off-putting to the more impatient students, but she explains the material well and her lecture notes are the best. I would not have passed this class if I had taken it with another instructor. She emphasizes the need for good study skills, so if you don't pass, it's pretty much your own fault.
The Lectures are hard to follow. Labs are long, seemed there wasn't enough time to do it all. Must work in a group, sometimes in a group of four. It is very important to count on your lab partner. She must be responsible. Very single lab is rewritten in pen, from the original lab. Don't forget the homework! lots of it on mastering chemistry.
Ms Lowe is an awesome professor. Show up to class, study, and you will pass. She's willing to stay after class to explain things if you don't understand them. She cares about her students.
So confusing and she occasionally drags Lecture to lab and takes forever explaining things she always takes back.
I've heard so many bad reviews about Lowe but I took her class anyway. Most of the time students are confused of her lecture because she contradicts herself a lot of times. Homework and examples she gives on her lecture are rarely to show up on her exams. Its a hard class, how I wish she could've been more considerate to her students.
Professor Lowe is very knowledgeable about the subject and I learned a lot. This class is not as hard as it seems, the hardest parts is her exams. You must work in groups for all labs and in the beginning your partner is assigned to you. MAKE SURE YOU BOTH AGREE. Be ready to teach yourself.
Mrs. Lowe is a great teacher, I didn't hear good things about her before I took the class, but I took her class anyway and I'm happy I did. I learned a lot and she was always available during office hours. This class is like any other science class, if you study you will pass.
Goes off topic during lecture. The homework is the best teacher, but she wants the exam/test to be shown the way she teaches and not the book. Beware of using the sig fig in the right way throughtout the formula or your answer will be wrong even if the answer is correct.
This professor was awful. If you could take someone else i definitely would. Out of everyone one in my class no one had an a. Her grading scale doesnt make sense. You have to sign into lecture and have to go to lab because of the mandatory lab assignments. She Always contidicts herself and teaches straight from the book. Do not take her!!
Lowe's a goof chem prof. She tells you how to get a good grade. So I sit up front, take notes and don't talk during lecture. I study a lot, make test guides and do the extra credit like she says. Don't blame Lowe if you goofed off and got a bad grade. I got an A!
Professor Lowe always prepared students for what was coming up on assignments, exams, and homework. She was clear about how to pass her class and what you should do to prepare yourself for exams. This is not an easy class, but it is not impossible to pass if you put in EFFORT and ARE NOT LAZY. She was a great teacher and was always willing to help!
When I say get ready to read, I mean get ready to read your whole textbook. Don't even bother trying to pay attention to lectures, she only puts up a slide for 5 seconds. Test HEAVY and she does not prepare you. Be ready to learn on your own!
Get ready to teach yourself everything. Getting outside help like a tutor will teach you more than her. Not to mention she is ridiculously passive-aggressive. A lot of us questioned why she is even still teaching. Her exams are very difficult and different from what she teaches; shes so spacey and says things incorrectly! Wouldn't recommend her.
She is very passive aggressive, and not very helpful if you have any questions. I talked to her a few times and all she would say Is go ask others around class and during office hours she told me dont even bother, Your not going to pass and its ok because mostly everyone who takes my class takes my class twice. Retook class with other prof
Get the answer right but not the way she wants? No credit. Lab partner messes up and forgets your group lab report? No credit, no makeup. Passive aggressiveness? Abundant. Attitude? Abundant. Seemingly purposely making students feel dumb for asking questions? Absolutely. Cringey attempts at seeming personable? Definitely. Self contradicting? Yup.
Professor Lowe is in no way personable and makes this already strenuous class more challenging. If you are confused with the course material, forget asking her questions because she refuses to answer you clearly. Studying for this course is a must and if you choose not to, your success in this class will be limited. Would never recommend taking her
Halfway through fall 2020 semester. So far the entire class is frustrated with how unnecessarily harsh she grades. Nice person. Easy to understand lectures but makes test problems 10x more complicated than what was practiced. Makes a million mistakes herself but demolishes your grade if you make the smallest mistake. Not understanding in any way.
Hardest professor I've ever had. She doesn't make things clear. Her tests rarely have material that we're familiar with and don't match the problem sets or homework we do. She often forgets most of us have never seen this material and expects us to understand it right away. All I can say is beware or pick a different professor if possible.
She doesnt explain well and exams are bad . And she demands the video and audio be on when in zoom or no credit at all. She is very nosey when you say you have prior engagements and would like to schedule a different lab time. It is expected that chem is hard but it shouldnt be to the point where you dont feel any help from the Professor.
Professor Lowe understands its a hard course and does everything possible to help her students pass. She elaborates on every question you ask ,starting from the beginning to the end till she knows you understand. She is always available and responds fast to her students. Do not be shy to join her 1 on 1 she is awesome , sweet and wants U To PASS!
Prof. Lowe is an outstanding professor! Chemistry is HARD, If you want an A or a B in this class then YOU have to put the work in! She offers a lot of student hours and will explain things over and over until she knows that you understand it. She is very clear about what you need to do to pass. Follow directions and study and you will be fine!
She rambles during lectures and continues to lecture during lab time. We have to go into breakout rooms majority of lab you have to have your camera and mic on. If you don't have your camera on or go to breakout rooms even though you completed the problem set , you get a 0 and an absence. Tests are hard and are on proctor. Do not recommend at all.
