Very nice professor, her lecture are interesting because she shows videos etc. Although, exams are tough, be sure to study 150%. Make sure you read the chapters because she leaves blanks in her PP.

Great professor! She was very supportive of anglophone students wanting to practice their french. Tailors everything to the students needs including power points, slowing down, repeating material etc. If you're taking a psych. class I suggest looking to see if you can take it with her.

I loved her class! I used to dislike psychology until she was my prof! tests are really easy if you attend class OR read the book (but it's not necessary because her midterm questions are multiple choice and only based on her PDFs). Shows videos which keeps me interested! my 3 hour lecture flew by! to study, I reread my notes 10 times. FAV PROF!

I adore her! Doesn't take attendance but only posts partial powerpoints online so you have to go to class to fill them out. She teaches the same info as the textbook but has great examples and is very clear about them so I highly suggest going to class. Midterms and Final were multiple choice which were not too long but a bit confusing at times.

Amazing prof! She is very nice and explains concepts very well. For the first two mid-terms, if you went to class and read her slides you will get an easy 80%. Manual is mandatory because you need it for the final exam.

She is a very loving and caring person who clearly devotes a lot of her time to her classroom. She respects students and they respect her. Her lectures are definitely one of the best I have attended and I would not hesitate to choose her as a teacher again.

Julie is an AMAZING prof. I would take any of her classes even if they were not mandatory. She is super sweet and is there for every one of her students. As a SASS student, I really appreciated that Julie never gave me troubles when I needed an accommodation.

Julie Marcil was the best prof I had in my first year. If you pay attention during class her tests are fair. Make sure you read the textbook because the final is faculty made and I found it much more difficult than her midterms. I received a 96% on both midterms and only an 82% on the final. She is also super understanding and willing to help.

She is a very great prof! She answers questions really detailed & tries to make it as clear as possible by giving examples. She also makes her lectures fun and interesting. She is funny and tells jokes in class. Make sure you do pay attention to her slides because she will purposely keep some blanks in the slide so that you pay attention to it.

Exams are hard multiple choices, if you dont lisnen in class and read. The perfect prof according to me. Yes we all want good grades but she is there to teach you as much as she can in a short period of time.

However, don't bother to buy the book, she basically teaches the book in class and so there's no need to do the lectures. Amazing prof!!

Her tests are fair and it really helps if you come to class! There is a lot of reading for this course, but the textbook is well-written so it is not a bother. Her lectures were my favourite because of the fact that she engaged the class in conversation, showed cool videos, had great power points, etc. I would take another class with her!

Very caring prof, she cares about her students. We had 2 midterms a short paper and a final. If you study and read textbook you will do very good. Her multiple choice can be tricky but very fair. Slides are posted and very organized prof. Fill in the blanks in her slides so class in mandatory.

VERY GOOD PROFESSOR. She went over the concepts at good pace. Good use of visual resources such videos and images that help sort of understand the concept. Not the most stimulating professor but the course itself was so not really a big deal breaker. Recommended for immersion students but it is work.

If you read the textbook, or her slides, or go to class; it's an easy A. She's very considerate.

Great prof! Very thorough as to what the book teaches, which is good since the faculty of Psychology writes the final exams based off of the book alone. Very caring professor and great lecturer. If you skip class make sure you get notes from someone, she posts the power points but some slides have missing information.

This prof gives thorough explanations which makes it easy to understand but the amount of content is ridiculous. You should be able to know every aspect of the course by heart or else you will not do well on the multiple choice exams.

She is such a gem. Dr Julie Marcil is a great professor, calm and patient. She teaches with passion and also uses great examples in class.

She is very kind and wants all her students to do well. As long as you make sure to do your readings and pay attention in class you should do just fine.

She is such a good prof! Her classes are always interesting and not just because of the occasional videos and in-class game quizzes, but also the class material. Take her class if you can, she's great!

The course material is pretty boring but she explains it very well and is a good lecturer. She posts the power points but if you want more in depths explanations and examples attendances is somewhat needed. She really takes her time to make sure everyone understands!

Dr Marcil is by far the best psychology teacher I had, Go to class, listen, take notes and read the manual and you'll get an excellent mark. The first midterm is easier than the second one. For the final: read the chapters and memorize important details.

Julie Marcil is the best prof I've had so far!! She teaches the course material very clearly and answers all your questions. You should attend every class because what she speaks is very important (for the final). 3 quizzes online, 2 midterms (based on her slides), final (based on the book) and 4% credits for experiment participation (free points!)

Good teacher, explains her PowerPoints very well and shares them with the class. 4% extra credit if you participate in studies. The exams are pretty easy. However the last exam is entirely based on the book so make sure to read it during the semester.

Le cours est très facile, il y a beaucoup de matière alors ne pas se prendre dernière minute mais si tu te présentes au cours et que tu écoutes, elle explique vraiment bien alors c'est facile d'avoir des bonnes notes. La Prof est clairement passionnée par sa matière et ça se transmet dans ses cours.

On the other hand, her exams are not the easiest even if they're multiple choice. She makes several questions tricky which leaves you always hesitating between 2 potential answers.

She is really knowledgable about this topic as she is in this field obviously. She makes learning more exciting by interacting with students, showing videos and doing surveys. The midterms are pretty representative of class notes which have really good key words on them.

You dont need to got to class if you have a friend as she does a fill in the blank for most her slides ( my friends and I would often rotate who goes to class) her midterms are fair but i would recommend reading the book for the final because the university writes it based on the book not her lectures

Julie used TopHat with classes being online this semester, we read the chapters on our own and she includes her own videos within the book. She would have DGDs to answer all questions every week. Very clear and well understood. 10/10

Dr Marcil is definitely one of the best teachers you can have. Her voice is calming, her lectures are interesting and she explains really well. One of a kind! I will be on the lookout for her other classes!

The best prof I've had so far. Generally easy material, but you still need to put in some work. She makes the class interesting and funny. Personally did not use the textbook, but there are readings.

So easy. Easy A. Really helpful and clear with explanations but honestly didn't even need it using TopHat!

I really enjoyed her class. The material was interesting and the evaluations were very fair. We had 4 quizzes, participation (reading and recherche) and a final. The participation is worth 12% so it helps boost your grade. The prof also had weekly zoom meetings where we could ask all our questions or listen to other students ask their questions.

Best prof ever in psychology I recommend you to take it if you can.

She is a very nice teacher and answers very fast to questions. The class was mainly on an online textbook that we had chapters to read and answer questions throughout. If you read well and complete them you will do good. Quizzes can be hard if you don't study well, but it is very clear and concise. Really appreciated this class.

The class is very easy. I liked the teacher but didn't see much of her. There were no live zooms but I preferred just reading the textbook and then doing the tests I learned a lot and had a lot of freedom

Absolutely loved Dr Marcil! She is so kind and you can tell she really wants her students to succeed. She explains everything well and is always there to answer questions (she had a zoom meeting every week where she went though all of our questions). The quizzes are kinda hard so make sure you review the material.

The intro classes are really guided under the faculty so this course wasnt totally controlled by Marcil, but the mini lectures she made for us throughout TopHat were very helpful. I never saw her live because it was async, but she was always available for questions. Make sure to study the textbook bc thats what you'll be tested on by the faculty

Very good teacher

Fall 2021 course was completely asynchronous, so lectures were prerecorded along with TopHat textbook reading. For each test she would post an outline of what would be on it, and held office hour sessions for any questions people had. Tests and exam were super fair as well. I would definitely recommend her for people that like independent learning!

Great professor, extremely knowledgeable in her field. I would only recommend this class to those who are really curious and passionate about psychology. All the tests are multiple choice questions. Favourite class so far.

A very sweet and caring prof! She let the class share their own ideas to help us engage with what she taught, and took the time to really make sure everybody understood the content. Her lectures were organized and covered almost everything for the quizzes and exams, but talked in further depth about topics that the class was interested in.

Genuinely grateful for having professor Marcil. She made the semester more bearable despite everything else going on. She's very patient and clear in her explanation as pertains to lectures. Take any class with her; she's an awesome professor and respects you, unlike some other professors. Would take again if the chance presents itself.

Her psychopathology class was online. She is very organized and caring. Her grading criteria was clear and we would do practice questions in class. She used videos as examples which would also help understand the material. I definitively recommend!

This was my second class with Dr. Marcil and I was very happy to have her again. Although she was a good prof online, she was even better in person. She makes the lectures interesting and notices when she needs to slow down for students to take notes.

she's a good lecturer and her slides are super useful, simplified versions of the texbook. BUT READ THE TEXTBOOK THROUGHOUT THE COURSE. I made the mistake of not paying the 120$ for it and even tho u don't need it for midterms, you need it for finals. Since the faculty is the one who prepares the final test, it is important to read the book throughout the semester. Her tests are very quick and fair. Attend class; she frequently has slides that aren't available on Brightspace.

Best teacher I've had so far!!

By far the best teacher I had. She gives a lot of exemples to better understand the material. Her exams are not tricky, you need to understand the overall concepts and apply them in different exemples, which are given during class. She's funny, kind and super caring.

The attendance wasn't required (as opposed to what I've selected) since I did buy the book (very useful btw) but her lectures are very very good. Attending them reduces drastically the time required to study for each midterm and final. Her tests are fair, and everything that is in there has been taught in class. Def one of the best profs I've had.

Dr. Marcil is an amazing prof! She makes the lectures super interesting by sharing personal stories and taking the time to answer every student's questions. There's a lot of content is this course but she basically covers it all in her lectures and all the exams are MCQs. I would really like to take another class with her!

Great prof! I always look for her when I plan on taking psych classes. There is a lot of reading to be done on TopHat but it really helps complement the material she teaches in class. She rocks. She's super nice, very accommodating (esp for SASS students). Gives you everything you need to know before the exams, gave us a 15 min break every class for the 3hr section, and kept the lectures interesting. All exams were multiple choice and she explains the material really well so it's nearly impossible to fail her course

wow, i love her! Asynchrone, SUPER easy to understand, short videos to listen. Explains so well and easily, i used her slides, listened to her videos and added info from them to the powerpoint,and got a+ on both midterms (online, multiple choice), but for the final (in person) i used the textbook too. Did all studying and listening last minute, A+

Dr. Marcil is great!! She cares about her students. Powerpoints are clear. The info given is what you will be tested on. However, it is still important to show up to classes, as she adds important info for the midterms that are not all stated on the powerpoints. The midterm you did the best on is what she will count the most for the final grade.

She is a good prof and the content itself is interesting but the lectures are a bit dry which makes it hard to pay attention/follow. There are also group presentations (12 total?) and we had to watch all of them over the second half of term. Overall a good class to take, just might be a bit boring.

Great professor who knows her material very well! Though lectures could get a little dull at times, she makes hard notions easy to understand and answers questions when needed. All exams are multiple choice and follow exact provided study guidelines. Textbook is easy to follow and has helpful practice questions, which makes studying a lot easier.

She is very kind and explains clearly and concisely. All exams are multiple choices. Very few of the questions on the exam come from the textbook to read, so she makes life easy by keeping most of the questions on what she explains in class. I highly recommend her.
