UNBELIEVEABLE teacher... definately the best teacher I have had thus far. She related life stories to the concepts we were learning in class... LOVE HER! :)
Julie is so great! I love her! She makes the class so enjoyable and her stories are awesome! You will learn SO much and be able to apply it to every day life!
Shes frippin cool...I love her class. I wont think twice about coming, its not worth skipping, she's too interesting!
She's great! The class is fun. She plays bits of movies, does ink blot tests, give fun little quizzes. Her tests are easy if you pay attention and do a bit of studying. I really enjoyed her "lectures." Its a pretty fun class.
WOW what an amazing teacher. She makes class so fun. Best class I've had so far at State! No homework or out-of-class work except tests and two papers. I ABO****ELY LOVED Julie and highly recommend getting her as your teacher!
She is a very interesting teacher, she loves her job but her test are pretty confusing. I felt she got off topic to much and told too many stories about her life. The class was interesting but she did not really do a lot of teaching toward the test which have very poorly structured questions
Really easy tests, interesting class, and no real homework load. She is a tough grader when it comes to papers, and she gives bad descriptions of what she wants on them. She graded papers out of 15 points and was unreasonable and defensive when questioned. Bias: Moronic group members for group paper brought grade down a letter.
she seems really nice in class but as soon as you have a question (about a grade especially) she turns into a _____. She is also an arbitrary grader on papers. Thinks a C is average.
Very funny professor! She tells a lot of stories from her personal life to try to relate the concepts learned in class. I really enjoyed the class, but I thought her tests were a little hard compared to how much she actually taught during class. Attendance isn't mandatory but I went anyway because I enjoyed the class so much.
She makes class fun but doesn't really teach, and the tests are too difficult for the lack of material covered. The first two tests are easy but she slams you with the third and the final, resulting in her 6% A's grade distribution. Hurt my GPA, ended the class with an 89.5 and she wouldn't round up. Don't take her class
Great class! She is funny and always tells stories about her life. The tests aren't very hard, and the class is easy if you go to class and take notes.
Hard class. Treats it like it is a graduate level 500 course. Don't get the flu or you will miss information that's on the test and final. She won't give you the info if you missed. Even if your mother died. Take public speaking. Much easier and taught on a level 200 level. Mayberry hates interpersonal com with her students. Why she teaches it? Idk
Good story teller... poor teacher. tells more stories rather than teaching. Her tests are horrible. Makes it to where two answers look right and its hard to pick between the 2. Don't take her class unless you love hard tests and story time.
She is so funny! I loved going to class because it was a breather from all my other hard classes. You have to read your chapters which aren't much and go to class and you're set. I've made B's on her test by studying an hour before. She does tell a lot of stories but helps with examples bc that's what the test is made up of. Def take this class.
I LOVED THIS CLASS!!! I've never been more excited about going to class before this. If you read the textbook and go to class you're almost guaranteed to pass. I highly recommend taking this class
Great teacher. As previously stated this class is quite a relief to walk into. Material is not hard and everyone can benefit from it. She uses examples and a lot of in class exercises to demonstrate material. If you like a teacher who reads definitions not for you. She connects with college students better than most other professors I've met.
A fun teacher but her tests are pretty hard
Her class is a joy to go to. Fun teacher. But if you look at her grade distribution-DON'T TAKE HER. YOU WILL NOT GET AN A.-this comes from someone who has straight A's.
Mayberry came across as a fun and laidback teacher at first and I was excited for the class. Boy was I disappointed... First of all her exams are unnecessarily tricky in their wording. She is never available for office hours (I tried several times to meet) . Do not take this class if you expect to make an A, it wont happen. Never used thet text.
Don't take this class with Mayberry. She wants to come off as a cool teacher who wants to make class enjoyable but you quickly learn she is the opposite. The test's are impossible, what you go over in class isn't whats on the test. The info learned is useless and she isn't a pleasant person. DON'T DO IT.
Everybody posting on here that got bad grades it was because they did not read the textbook AND did not go to class. She creates her test so that some of the questions you will only know if you went to class every day and some of the questions you would only know if you read the book. If you actually try you can get an A but you do have to try.
Awful. Seriously. She goes off talking about her life and stories all the time, ranting about her own life rather than THE MATERIAL. Freely admitted getting an A was almost impossible, but she didn't think there was anything wrong with that. Tests are needlessly complicated and questions purposely try to trip you up.
Do not take this class. She thinks she is the smartest person in the room and will not give an A to save her life. She makes you take tests in groups and makes the tests as difficult as possible. Attendance is mandatory even though the class is a complete waste of time. She is also a very lazy teacher. She has a crappy syllabus and no moodle page.
The class is really fun, but if you want an A you have to read the textbook and take notes on the videos and presentations in class. The one day of class I missed, she showed a video. Did not do well on the test. She'll state her own opinion and then expect you to know the book's opinion. You'll have fun and learn a lot. Just cover all your bases!
Never seen someone so nice during class but mean and hateful before or afterwards. She was that way to other people so I never bothered to approach her.
I don't really understand why everyone hates Mayberry's class so much? It was my favorite! Her tests are NOT as hard as everyone is making them out to be. All multiple choice with 1 short answer question at the end. Class is interesting and she lets everyone participate.
There are 4 exams including final. It is so hard to get a good grade in her class. Even though I?have tried my best, I still did not get a good grade. The tests are too hard and no practice test.
Her class isn't bad to sit through and she isn't mean or anything but she is a very unfair grader. Her test questions are based on her opinion and as with everyone her opinion isn't fact. Bottom line if you want a good grade you better be able to read her mind, and since nobody can do that you better be happy with not getting an A.
Terrible teacher! Tests are impossible & extremely subjective. I read every chapter in the book multiple times and it deemed absolutely no help on exams. Do not take this class with this professor unless you are an abstract thinker or like a serious challenge.
This was my favorite class of the semester. Class is really interesting and interactive. If you take notes and follow up with the book you will do well. She was always very nice to me and did a great job of having real class discussions. Class isn't mandatory, but you need to go to get good notes.
This was probably one of my favorite courses Ive ever taken. Mayberry makes class extremely engaging and interesting which makes it enjoyable to go to. Tests are very hard, but she gives out study guides and gives a whole day to review before. Read the book ALWAYS. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have to go to do well. Recommended this highly!
If you are looking for a insightful class, don't take it with this woman.
A lot of sitting listening to lecture. She does a good job with examples of topics, but class can get boring. Don't forget to the homework assignments online, but tests are not hard if you read the textbook.
Can you answer this question? "Bill and Mary broke up. What is Bill? A. Sad B. Upset C. Angry D. Depressed." If you had no trouble answering that ambiguous question, then by all means, take Mayberry, as that is exactly how her tests are. Be prepared for the most unspecific, trickiest tests imaginable. Save your GPA and take this class online.
She's a very nice lady and at first I was worried about her lectures bc she doesn't put up a powerpoint, she just stands there and lectures. This took some getting used to but the class is super easy and her examples are actually pretty helpful. I expected this class to be a boring knockoff of psychology but she made it really enjoyable.
Horrible professor, not helpful at all... her tests are really hard and she's not willing to help if you have questions..if you want to get a good grade i suggest you don't take this class, you'll regret it!!
Says that attendance is not mandatory, but there aRE RANDOM IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS!!!
While she can be sarcastic and monotonous, she makes up for it with great stories and memorable examples to help learn the content. She ultimately teaches you life skills or interesting facts about why we do things. The way she teaches the material makes you want to go apply it to your real life. Show up for class and enjoy the hour break of laughs
Don't get freaked out by the other reviews left for her. Her class really isn't hard at all. All of her lectures are incredibly entertaining, and if you stay for the entire class on test review days, she'll basically reveal what's on the test. I would recommend reading and taking notes on the textbook as well as looking at class notes. Easy A tbh
The professor is good, and engaging in class. However, her tests are very hard to take based off of the lectures she gives in class. You will need to pretty much memorize the textbook chapters and real life examples of the terms given to pass the tests.
Mayberry gives good, interesting lectures and really values student input when she just wants anecdotes from students to highlight lessons about communication, BUT she gets an attitude whenever someone asks a question, whether it's during class, after class, or through email. She's reacted this way to multiple people and it's really off-putting.
This woman is actually one of the worst professors I have ever had. She goes on long lectures about her own life as if that is going to be on the multitude of pop quizzes she gives, she grades harshly, and she truly does not care about her students. I'm guessing she thinks that because she went to UNC, she is better than her students. Do not take!!
Lectures every day but without a power point. Make sure you write down what she puts on the board and then what she says about it. If you read the textbook before class you will already know everything she is talking about. The only thing you will miss out on if you don't go is her examples that are sometimes on the test and in class assignments.
This is the worst professor I've EVER had in college. Her tests are absolutely ridiculous, extremely subjective. She uses her classroom as a platform to push her own political agenda. The book is hardly discussed, it's all about her personal life and how upset she was Hillary Clinton lost. Look @ grade distribution before taking! Will ruin GPA.
Mayberry has been one of my favorite professors so far here at State. Her lectures are applicable to real life and very interesting to me. She's extremely funny as well so you'll be able to pay attention. She does give occasional in class assignments that are really easy just to make sure you show up.
Her lectures are fun, interactive and interesting. She teaches from the book, but not everything it covers so make sure you do your readings to get a good test grade!
This class was super fun because she told a lot of hilarious stories and the participant exercises were always really humorous. You definitely have to show up to class if you want to make good grades on the tests, and definitely read the textbook. I studied for 3 hours and still made an 85. So take her class very seriously.
This class is interesting but the tests are not based off of the lectures. Basically have to memorize the textbook in order to do well in the class. There are better courses in which to get your Social Sciences GEP.
I would not take Mayberry again. A com class should not be a GPA destroyer, but she made it just that. She doesn't believe in "grade inflation," so a fair grade for "decent" work is a C. Her grading is extremely nitpicky and she will take deduct tons of points for minute details. If you want an A, don't take Mayberry.
Take this under another professor or online. Mayberry's class is primarily taught through stories/examples. She only really glances over everything in class but her tests go super in-depth. A powerpoint for lectures would help a lot but she is just lazy; she sits most of the class. This class isn't supposed to be so difficult or so much work.
If you can, take public speaking instead of Julie's class. Very arrogant and treats her class like middle schoolers. She teaches through personal life stories instead of using powerpoint. She acts annoyed if you ask her any questions. Random in-class assignments make class mandatory and will deduct 20 points from test if she sees your phone.
Poor course instructor Lectures are not clear and intelligible Instructor needs to improve instruction style Instructor needs to be prepared for class
To list some Disadvantages of taking her class: -Outside of class, she is very arrogant -Only 1% of the class gets a grade of A -Have to read at least 160 pages of Textbook for one test -My GPA after taking this class went from a 3.84 to a 3.56. -Unprofessional, No powerpoint, Everything is personal stories. Advantages: -Nothing
One of the professors who designs the trickiest tests. 45 questions on each test plus a 10 point short answer. Each question is very ambiguous. Arrogant professor. DO NOT TAKE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO SCREW YOUR GPA!
Tells amazing stories and cares about students
she's mean, just mean doesn't want to answer questions or help you in any way. I have had the worst experience with her, and grade wise / tough grader at times but you can pass. my problem her how rude and horrid she is to the students. my problem is her not her teaching.
Toughest grader I've ever had and that isn't a good mix when she isn't clear about what she expects for assignments. The class is not hard and concepts are easy to understand but it's hard to show her you understand the material because she grades so hard. If you can take the class with another prof, do it. Class is good for learning, bad for GPA.
No matter how much work you put into it, you still won't receive a grade reflecting your work and effort. Difficult for no reason and wants specifics but DOES NOT give outlines. Doesn't even tell you where and why she takes off points. Rude and condescending. Awkward outside of class like she really just doesn't want to talk to you or see you.
This Fa# professor ruined my GPA. Mayberry if you are reading this, hope you get fired. Your tests are extremely subjective. Class is fun but when you get the test back, you see an F, instead you were expecting A.
Probably one of the worst teachers i have ever had. You will learn nothing about communication, but instead about 1000 stories of her talking down about conversations she has had in the past. Her tests are ridiculously hard for an intro communication class, stay away from this "teacher"
Terrible teacher. Classes are filled with personal stories instead of actual details relevant to the course. Actual material is found in the textbook, but even if you know everything, you're still screwed for the tests, since they're filled with ambiguous/subjective/ridiculously specific questions. Do not take, waste of time and grade.
Introduces a couple concepts during class then spends 35/45 minutes talking about her family and friends. Tests have very specific, ridiculous questions that couldn't be answered by the people who write the book. Test "reviews" consist of students asking questions and her answering with, "look in your notes" or "it's in the book." Just bad teaching
Good and entertaining professor, but has a tendency to go off on tangents to where you have to read the book to learn most of the information. Really loves and cares about her students and definitely an empathetic person, but isn't a pushover by any means.
She's not really good. Her tests are subjective and can be tricky. She always acts like she doesn't want to be there or deal with anyone . Don't care much for her due to that, but the class isn't really hard. Tests are based on the book and class videos/activities. Good class and subject, but bad professor.
I took COM 112 and she is a tough one. Best advice I can give is dont take this course with Mayberry. Not worth it will all the harsh grading. If you must take a class with her, just focus solely on the textbook and youll do decent.
Awful experience. Not hard to pass but good luck getting an A
Julie is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She very obviously cares about her students, and is more than willing to provide help. Her tests can be tricky, but it is possible to get an A. Probably the worst part about her class is that she is dead serious about people NOT using their phones in class
I absolutely loved her! Great class, very interesting. I learned a lot and she was always there to help me with any problems I had. Super understanding and helpful.
If you take this class, be prepared to read the book and feel ready for the test only to get an F on the test and when you ask her what to do better for the next test, she'll tell you to read the book. 10/10 would never take again. Gets off on tangents too much and just isn't a good professor overall. Tests are very objective and opinionated.
Not the worst teacher in the world. Very odd that someone else also had a 76.9 because I did too, but she was very clear that she wasn't gonna bump you up. You'll get a good grade if you read the book like she says. You should always be at class because literally anything could be on the test. Not a great teacher, but definitely not the worst.
She is a friendly person, I was unable to finish the class because I ended up in the hospital many times. That used my alotted absent limit and my grade suffered from me being sick. She has happy days and really crabby off-putting days.
20 points will immediately get taken off of your next test if you go on your phone in class at all whatsoever. Any tangent she goes on or anything in the book can be on the test. Tests are confusing and ridiculous. She also rambles about things like her husband being annoying or how she supports communism. Terrible teacher
God she is just awful, probably the worst actually. You have to work hard for a C because her tests are on material she barely covered and are also heavily subjective. You will see questions like "what is the best thing to say to a friend after a breakup", followed by 4 viable options. Lectures are all tangents and importnat info is overlooked.
Never ever take a class with her. She is the worst professor ever and the material on the exam is not relevant to what goes on in class. She took 20 points off my test grade because I was on my phone for 2 seconds. I hope she gets fired. READ THE TEXTBOOK!!!
She was very hard to reach outside of class. Her tests were impossible. I would not recommend to anyone.
Julie is literally such an amazing professor. I had her for COM 112 as well;. She tells the most hilarious stories, that relate back to the material. You do need the book, because she occasionally gives pop quizzes, but they're super easy as long as you read, usually two questions. She is not a hard grader.
she is the worst teacher ive ever had. so mean and teaches literally nothing. her tests have thing to do with the class. DO NOT TAKE
One of the best lecturers I've had. She has an interesting way of explaining things in a relatable way. However, her tests are unnecessarily difficult and quite subjective. Also, it is important to read the textbook as she doesn't cover all the information in her lectures. Not the world's greatest teacher, but not as bad as some say she is.
shes a nice professor but if you need to take COM 112, don't take it with her. Her lectures are very general and you basically need to read the textbook to understand all of the concepts. All of the questions are super specific and most of them have 3 answers that could all work so its really based on luck.
My least favorite professor in college so far. 90% of her tests come from the textbook and almost all of the class is graded on tests. She spews random stories that have nothing to do with the subject. Don't use your phone because if you get caught its 40 points off a test. Do not take her class.
Ms. Mayberry utilizes class time to complain about her family and friends, but you should go because on occasion you can receive participation points. You also cannot use your laptop or phone in class for fear of losing 20 points on your next test. Most of your grade is tests, which are based on the textbook. Memorize the textbook or you will fail.
I don't understand the low rating from everyone, she is very much one of my favorite professors. Extremely caring and understanding, her lectures are always super interesting . I will say she is super strict with grading, but honestly the info you learn from her makes it worth it. Don't take for an easy A, take her for a real interesting class!
Julie Mayberry is one of the worst professors that I have had. She teaches through "podcasts" that are supposed to go over material but she will only talk about her family issues. The tests were incredibly hard and ambiguous. This class literally destroyed my GPA and I learned absolutely nothing. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
She's nice and all but her expectations are wildly unclear until after you submit things then she tears things apart and gives you a bad grade. I took this class as an elective and it ruined my GPA. 0/10 do not recommend.
90% of the grade is the tests. The tests are very subjective so it is pure luck whether you get an A or not. I will say though that it would be hard to fail this class.
Professor Mayberry is very nice and interactive within her lectures; however, she poorly sets you up for each test. There are random homework assignments throughout the course but they weigh for almost nothing so you are mainly assessed on tests. Would not take again as the tests poorly represent what is taught in lecture.
Expected COM 112 to be an easy class- and while the material was easy, I had to get like 47/50 questions right on every test just to get an A because tests are 90% of your grade. She was interesting, but if you're just looking to meet a requirement or boost your GPA, pick someone else. No extra credit available btw.
The first two months were without a single graded assignment. The 1st assign. was in the 2nd week of March - the grades were published just before the drop date. There was no way I was going to proceed under such vague and disorganized expectations. Without any assignments prior to Exam 1, students have no way of knowing what her expectations are.
First grade was midterm half 8 weeks in. Seen her face twice for class and we didn't even do anything but play a stupid prisoner game. Grades incredibly hard. Nothing you learn is truly applicable in your life and you are begging for your GPA to drop if you take her. I can not believe an elective was so hard. Look at grade distribution first. PLS
Want your GPA to drop? Take her
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER! Whatever you do, just look for another class for credit or look for a different instructor. I have never dislike someone's teaching style as much as this. She's so disorganized and for a communication professor, she is terrible at it. Do yourself a HUGE favor and do not register for her COM 202 class. Keep it moving
Can't ask questions w/o her making you feel stupid. Perhaps online is not her thing at all or she's tenure, so she may not care. Who knows. Don't take this class.
Ms. Mayberry is very nice and the class isn't that difficult once you know what to expect. You need to read the textbook and listen to the audio lectures. The hardest part is that she sometimes chooses the most obscure and random things to ask test questions on rather than the big picture ideas. Its also ALOT of reading.
Prof. MayBerry is awful. Technology is not allowed in/during class, so all notes need to be hand-written. But, she explains things in ways that aren't beneficial to your studying for tests, and the tests cover material you've never heard of. Textbook is long and useless, and the grading is VERY difficult. If you need to take COM112, skip MayBerry!
If you don't read and analyze the textbook you won't pass the class. You have to go to class for the mandatory in class assignments (that are easy, but random). The test questions are all situational and contain material from in class videos and are kind of hard. Her lectures are useless as long as you read the textbook.
She's an engaging lecturer who wants to connect with her students. It's unfortunate that the class was 100+ students in a lecture hall. Her exams can be a little difficult; there will be questions about seemingly negligible facts/topics from her lectures as well as the textbook and videos that she assigns.
Mayberry is a terrible Professor who is honestly just mad at the world and takes it out on her students. She can have some good classes but makes a very easy and simple class hard for no reason at all. She is one of the worst professors I've ever had hands down.
Her lectures are the best part of class with stories of her personal life and other real world situations applied to class concepts. Participation based assignments are easy but random, so show up most days. Her tests are extremely difficult, with minor details from videos/textbook/lectures, however if you get the concepts you still can get an A
Prof Mayberry is not a professor to take if you want to learn from the class. There were multiple times when current world issues took over the class more than any teaching appreciate. But she did not allow other opinions besides hers. A student stated they didnt believe feminism meant equality and they were asked to stay after class (humiliated):O
Do not recommend her class, will bring your GPA down and you really have to work to get a good grade.
Completely useless lectures, no technology allowed in class so all notes have to be handwritten, grades extremely hard and is entirely textbook-reliant. Exam questions are on the most obscure topics. You are begging for your gpa to drop if you take one of her classes.
Avoid Mayberry. Very difficult class and lectures are completely useless. Some test questions are based on useless material she's never covered. If you don't pass one exam, you will fail the course. She offers no extra credit or make-up tests. You better be prepared if you take her class. Absolute WORST.
Other reviews are too harsh IMO. She's not the easiest or most accessible professor, but her class is enjoyable and not that difficult to get a B-ish if you go to class and read the textbook. I looked forward to going to this class. I do wish she has more opportunities for grades though, it's only 10 in class assignments, 3 tests, and the final.
I really enjoyed the lectures, she's funny and has good stories that made concepts easy to understand. However, she's a very tough grader and there's only 3 tests and pop quizzes. She also can be very rude with students so don't catch her on a bad day. I wouldn't take any of her classes unless you're ready to read and get graded on irrelevant stuff
This is the worst teacher I have had in an otherwise great experience at NC State.
Not a terrible class, but rarely did anything she talked about in class appear on the tests. Constantly went on personal tangents about topics and graded very harshly without giving any test review ever. Don't take this if your trying to get a GEP credit out of the way, will tank your GPA and I would much rather have taken public speaking.
you NEED the textbook. You absolutely MUST read the textbook before class. Your quiz will be RANDOM from anything in the chapter. The quizzes are at the beginning of the unit BEFORE she ever lectures on them. So say goodbye to your GPA- her grade distribution speaks for itself. Also prepare to be yelled at- never know when she will be unhappy.
I enjoy going to Julie's class. She makes lectures enjoyable as she tells real life stories related to the topics we are learning. She is funny and teaches in a way that is easy to understand. No homework, occasionally we have in-class assignments (easy), and then 3 exams. Reading (or skimming) the textbook will help you pass the exams.
When we review for tests, she would recommend that we stayed but every time students asked questions she would always just say " its in your book". And she talks the whole class period, very boring.
Overall great teacher, goes over most of the material in the book, but you MUST read or skim read because some of the things that are not in the lectures are in the book and exams. She gives a lot of examples and wants you to understand the concept. Exams are all application base. No electronics allowed or she'll take off 20 points on exams.
Very boring and random lectures. Relates it to a lot of personal stuff. I had three tests a final and 10 in class assignments as a grade. Its a hard class so dont expect to get an A, as long as you read the text book and study, a B is achievable.
Terrible is an understatement. If you are thinking of taking this class go for it just be sure that she is not your professor. For starters she talks the whole class about her husband that nobody frankly cares about and rants about other personal stuff that's irrelevant to the class discussion. -20 pts off test for being otp in a regular class
It is stated in her syllabus that there is not an attendance policy; however, on her tests she makes questions based off of one fact that was given during lecture, and you are not allowed to record lectures. If you do not attend the class everyday you will miss these questions on her tests. Do not take her class if you don't want to harm your GPA.
This professor is extremely rude and harsh to students. She is very tough grader and will point out every little thing you can imagine. She does not teach during class only tells stories about her husband or other family members. If you are looking for a nice respectful professor do not take her class. This class will sink your GPA.
Don't take this class if you need an easy A for COMMs credit. Professor Mayberry is a good professor who relates a lot of the material back to her life. Attendance is mandatory for random in-class assignments, test will be hard if you don't read the book, and all notes are handwritten. Not hard if you attend and read, but definitely not an easy A.
Her COM 112 class is very interesting! Her tests are a combination of things she said in class, in-class discussions, and things from the textbook. There are also in-class (very easy) assignments, of which you can turn in 10/12 to get a 100. So it's very important to show up to class and to read the textbook.
Mayberry taught based on what she cared about, not on what was in the book (which we were tested on). Also would be tested on random tangents she went on, and on a plethora of videos she had us watch. She would be rude to students. No technology allowed. Random "in-class assignments" that affected our grade but we never knew when they would be.
She was ok.
class was fun and she gave lots of real world examples. however, you have to read and study the book every week as she sometimes gives pop quizzes to see if you've read and exams comes from the book material even if she didn't go over it in class. she grades pretty harshly so be sure to be specific and detailed in whatever you're writing
Julie does write tests that are nothing like her lectures but if you read the book you will do fine. She is really funny and her lectures are super entertaining.
I loved her and the class. Her lectures were engaging because she's funny and tells stories. There are random in-class assignments but you only have to do 10/12 of them. Exams are multiple choice w/ one open ended question. You need to study but if you focus on what's on the study guide, it's easy to get a good grade. The textbook is an easy read.
Interesting, enjoyable lectures. For those who don't enjoy it as much, it is a lot more difficult. It isn't an easy A. Go to class for exam hints + easy assignments that reward attendance. Textbook reading needed. Very rude when you ask questions. I love the class but only take it if you find the subject interesting. I'm taking more of her classes.
I took COM112 with Julie Mayberry and absolutely loved it. Her teaching style is very unique as she doesn't use technology, she just speaks to the class. I find the her lectures fascinating.
I liked Prof. Mayberry. She is not for everybody, though. She only grades based off of tests and a few in-class assignments. As long as you attend and pay attention, you should be totally fine. I also recommend reading the book; it will help you understand the material better. I took notes on the book before class, which helped a lot.
I found the class very interesting! She does not use PowerPoints when teaching, it is more like her having a conversation with the class. Professor Mayberry uses a lot of real life examples to help us relate to the lesson in some way. There is a no technology policy; I wouldn't recommend this class if you heavily rely on using a computer/tablet.
READ THE BOOK. Take notes on everything she says and other videos she plays in class. She writes her tests making them all application questions that relate back to the class. I loved her as a person, but her grading is very harsh as a teacher. You have three tests, three papers, and a final cumulative test.
90% of your grade is going to be based on 4 exams. The other 10% comes from random in-class assignments. Go to class, read the textbook, and pay attention. You will fail if you don't do any of those things. No technology is used in the classroom either.
For a Coms class, Mayberry makes an easy class very difficult. If you read the textbook, show up to class, and study though you'll be ok. Random assignments in class make attendance important. Videos and activities are key for the tests. She is a good person (overly political though), and will help you adjust to college life.
Prof Mayberry is passionate about what she teaches and uses great examples for the terms we go over. She will not cover everything in lecture so you must read the textbook to do well. You're only graded by exams and 10 in class assignments which you don't know when they are so you need to show up. also in class examples are reffered to on exams.
This class is very interesting. You MUST read the textbook, as she doesn't cover everything on the test in class. Her lectures consist of personal stories of the topics she covers. She is pretty blunt and not very helpful when giving feedback, but she is a good listener. No technology is allowed while she teaches so make sure to get a notebook!
The class is intriguing. Dr. Mayberry is passionate about what she teaches. However, her tests are extremely hard and the study guides for them are very vague. She is a tough grader, and there aren't assignments to go along with the tests, so you have to do well on those to pass. If you don't test well, don't take this class, it will tank ur GPA.
Professor Mayberry is a great teacher, and her lectures are very engaging. I loved going to her class, but her tests were extremely difficult. I learned a lot from this class, but her test questions are extremely vague, and her study guides do not help at all. You HAVE to read the textbook to succeed in this class. No homework.
Great lectures, but horrible tests. No internet in class.
Attendance is not mandatory but she does random in-class assignments and you can only miss two so you have to go. The grade consists of that and exams. My exam average was low which is why my grade was so low. She also was not helpful before exams. Read the book but take it with someone else if you can. Anytime you ask a question she was rude.
Get ready to tank your GPA. Mayberry goes on long tangents about her husband or friends during class then proceeds to bring it up on exams. Exams make up 90% of your grade and are incredibly difficult. If you do not read the textbook, you will fail. Tests are also very challenging and the study guide is irrelevant to what you are being tested on.
Dr. Mayberry was solid. I think she cared about the students and wanted us to do well. My only problem was that I felt like she could be a bit snappy with the students at times. I also like how she used lots of examples to apply the material we learned. Make sure to read your textbook and stay on top of that.
Julie is a fun professor. She is tough but she uses a lot of examples so I remember what I learned in the course. She doesn't like technology, so bring a notebook and do the readings. You have reading quizzes and a group project, but it's not too difficult. If you pay attention and do the readings you will get a good grade.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Wouldn't excuse my absence for a funeral. FAKE! Will tell u she cares but doesn't. Tests=hard, vague, tedious Lectures=no help DON'T TAKE HER! This is a level 100 class that'll put the most stress on u if ur even slightly worried abt ur GPA. Talks abt nonsense & expects u do learn EVERY word of the textbook. BAD TEACHER
Absolutely, under no circumstance take this class... Professor Mayberry is extremely difficult. Between copious pop quizzes, impossible exams, and a paper that is graded completely on subjectivity; this class is virtually impossible to do well in.
Never worked for a B- so hard in my life. The lecture wasn't terrible unless she was having a bad day in which she could be very condescending with her students. Genuinely just find another professor or don't take this class unless you don't care about your GPA. Rough grader.
If you are wondering what professors to not take at NCSU then you are in the right place. I highly advise to steer clear from this teacher. Her classes are chill and fun so you would think that would be the vibe of the tests. WRONG. Tests=hard and vague. She has no empathy for students and is reluctant to do anything nice.
Being on your phone costs HALF a letter grade. Course is weighted 90% exams, 10% in class work. No final exam test replacement. Depends heavily on a textbook that doesn't help if you use it to study for tests. When reviewing, gives no help to students even if questions are asked. Talks for 50 minutes straight. Awful professor, wouldn't recommend.
Mayberry might be one of the worst professors I've ever had. Her lectures were irrelevent to tests. If you ask for help she's nothing but demeaning and rude. Her grading on tests is subjective and way too harsh. Attendance is not mandatory, however she does spontaneous in class assignments that are worth 10% of your grade... tests are worth 90%.
Entire grade is determined by tests that contain information she never mentions due to it being, "in the textbook".
Tests and final exam are worth 90% of your grade. The textbook is practically the only way you can prepare for the tests even if you pay attention during every lecture.
Although Julie can be nice its not worth the GPA hurt over a com class. Course is very test heavy and tests do not match material learned in class what so ever. Take through a different teacher.
Please pick a different professor. The lectures are just dumping her personal life. If you check your phone in the lecture for a split second she will write your name down and deduct 20 points from your most recent exam. This class is not worth it for your GPA so pick a better professor!!
Laziest professor of all time. She loves to talk about passive-aggressive people but gets aggressive when someone has a problem with how she teaches. She constantly tells the class irrelevant stories about her boring life. Complete C U Next Tuesday.
Almost no resources on her page to help you succeed. Entire grade is based on exams. Lectures are very engaging.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Terrible grader, the class is comprised of 3 tests and a final, with random in-class assignments spewed throughout the year. You have to read the book to pass, and her random lectures filled with nonsense aren't even on the tests. Hard pass for a teacher. Terrible professor. Literally take anyone else.
I personally very much enjoyed Mayberrys lectures as it was the only class I felt that I could actually listen and be interested in what she was teaching. I have to say that if you want to do well in the class you MUST read the textbook and understand what you read instead of just trying to memorize definitions. I would take her again!
She had amazing lectures, and if you care to study or take notes at all, you could easily get a B in the class if not better. I got a C+ without taking notes or studying once. If you pay any ounce of attention (which you should because you can't have your phone or laptop or anything out) then you will be just fine.
Do not take this professor. If you must take this class, take online or with another teacher. She is rude and makes an easy class extremely difficult. Her test are vague and nearly impossible to get a good grade on. We never had a class average above a 74. She lacks empathy and will do nothing to help you if something comes up.
Ignore anything your hear about taking this professor. She is condescending and as rude as they come. The assignments are graded as if you were supposed to not pay attention to any of your other classes and only focus on this one. Absolutely do not take!!! Horrible class and teaching style.
Professor Mayberry provides very engaging lectures that everyone can learn something from. Very interesting class overall, but tests were more tedious than they should have been. With the amount of comprehension and studying I did, it would have gotten me an A in just about any other class. With intensive studying and note taking an A is possible.
You can get As on the exam without ever showing up to class. The actual meat of the exam is in the textbook. She's rude and mean—ironically enough, because a lot of the content is on appropriate communication. Seems like a professor trying to continue a cycle of being condescending and demeaning onto a new generation.
She is literally so entertaining. I always look forward to her lectures. She gives real life examples that help information stick. Literally LOVE her class! No homework, only tests which can be tough but still I will never not recommend her.
Love her lectures! She relates a lot of her topics to her life stories to make it fun and easier to remember.
I took this course last semester. Julie Mayberry is condescending and is easily agitated by simple questions. Extremely unpleasant classroom environment. A plethora of unclear guidelines in her syllabus makes this course impossible.
I try to avoid using loads words. However, Julie Mayberry has a clear bias against white students. I reported her to the school, but don't take this class unless you want to be graded by a completely subjective criteria. Never again.
Professor Mayberry's lectures are engaging, but her exams are notoriously difficult. Attending class, diligently studying the textbook, and making use of resources like Quizlet and Unstuckstudy can help you succeed.
Good lecturer, terrible in every other aspect. Exams are really, really easy. I dEasiest A ever if you don't make the mistake of doing one of the random things that will get your exams disproportionately penalized.
Julie is a very sweet and understanding person but her class is VERY test heavy. If you don't do well on tests do not take this class. You are basically only graded on 3 tests for the whole semester. You have to get the textbook and I would recommend going to class because she uses in-class lecture examples in her tests.
Professor is just not what you would expect a professor to be. Disrespectful, political and more.
Her lectures were long and normally went on tangents and got off topic easily. Very rude and will take 20 points off your test grade if she sees you on your phone. Her only grades in the class are tests and you have to go to class if you want to do somewhat ok on them. I wouldn't recommend taking this class with her. Choose a different teacher.
I am very confused by all of the bad reviews on here. She was my favorite proffessor and I looked forward to her class. Her lectures were engaging with all of her fun stories/examples. No technology is allowed, but it is only a 50 min class that often lets out early. Just take good notes, go through study guide, and review for an A.
Mayberry is HILARIOUS! Her lectures are super engaging, and she loves interacting with students as a means of teaching. She always shares stories in class that are super funny while serving as good examples for the material. She can be kind of intense, so not for super sensitive students. Tests can sometimes be difficult, but just read the textbook
I think the bad reviews of Julie Mayberry can either from sensitive students. I am loving her class! As long as you come she explains the material very well and uses examples which is super helpful. She makes a lot of jokes which make her lectures exciting. She can make you feel a little stupid if you ask certain questions but really does care.
I love Mrs. Mayberry! She tells awesome stories about every topic and even if we technically needed to use the textbook, i havent and im all good. Sure, she doesnt let you use tech during class but whatever, it's literally only 50 minutes. I would def take again
She's the best professor I've ever had, as well as hilarious. If you read the textbook and take notes you'll be fine, most of the material is common sense, just with technical terms. She does not let you have any electronics out during class, as well as she doesn't record lectures so be sure you get the notes.
Do not take this professor for any class at state. She goes onto rate my professor to rate herself... There are copious assignments that have horrible guidelines that are vaguely outlined in the syllabus. Absolutely horrible. Extremely condescending and rude. DO NOT TAKE!!!
Reasons why I wouldn't take this class: -Professor talks about her personal life instead of teaching us the content -Says the test is mainly about the textbook but its based on videos that she played in class -Doesn't give any assignments other than exams -Review guides are just titles of the chapters in the textbook Reasons why I would: -N/A
JUST DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! I took ST311, MIE 201, and ST 308. This was 100 times harder than all of them. Take her if you wanna tank your grade and life choices!
Not allowed to use any technology during class, she just talks for every lecture and you take notes on her talking- no PowerPoints. No assignments through the semester just 3 tests and then the final. No wiggle room.
The only grades were three test grades and the final exam. Exam one was worth 20%, Exams 2 and 3 were 25% and the Final was 30%. We weren't allowed to use technology in class so we had to take notes on pen and paper (this was fine because she didn't talk fast and made sure we had time to actually write the notes down). (Continued in another post).
(Continued from previous post). We got a study guide for each test but it was just the headings of sections from the textbook. When the final came along, it was extremely difficult to study because we weren't able to keep our previous tests, we were not given a study guide, she didn't record class, and we didn't have power points to go over.
Horribly rude teacher, does not have PowerPoints or record lectures. Writes down roughly 5-8 terms on the whiteboard during class and then tells anecdotal stories about her friends and family. Grade is only based on 4 exams, with 1 option for extra credit the entire semester. Shuts down people with questions; do not take com 112 with her.
Spends class time talking about her personal life. Says she is always a resource if we need anything but is conceding and downright rude when approached after class hours. She grades like an English professor. Super interesting content, but the content is not taught well it just feels like I'm hanging out and talking all of class.
She is a very nice person but HATES phones during class. She will take 20 points of the next test if she sees a phone during class. This class is only graded with tests so it's very important you go to class because the tests are based on the concepts and activities in class. She will give extra credit for participating in activities.
I understand the negative reviews she's received. Taking COM 112 with this professor is a MUCH more difficult experience than with any of the others in the department. Grade is based solely off of four tests and it's true she can be curt in her dialogue with students during and after class. Take advantage of all extra credit, you'll need it.
I liked Mayberry's class and found her lectures pretty interesting, but I can see why she's not for everyone. She can be quite abrasive and if you're not good with tests you probably won't do very well. I still found her very likeable and her policies pretty reasonable. IMO, don't bother with the textbook outside of key terms!
Worst teacher/professor I have ever had. I'm convinced she made this class as hard as it is to prove that communications isn't the easiest major (when indeed it actually is).
Lectures drag on and are pointless to the tests. 4 tests are the only grades so one drops your grade. She gives you a textbook and that is your only hope for tests. Worst class I've ever taken.
I don't know why Ms. Mayberry's ratings are so low. Her class was my favorite because she uses funny/ engaging stories for examples of harder concepts. She is more approachable/ helpful if you ask her questions after class or during office hours. If you study the concepts and write down the examples she uses in class you will be fine!
DO NOT RECOMMEND. this class was based off 4 test grades. no hw and no quizzes. Her lectures will put you to sleep and don't fully cover everything on the exams. She hates answering questions and will actively ignore you with you're hand up. Getting above a passing grade is like putting your life savings on black in roulette. dont take it.
Never take a course with this professor. The reviews on this website need to be brought to the attention of the university. The whole course is based around the condescending attitude of the professor.
Although attendance is not mandatory, many questions about the test pertain to discussions in class which makes it extremely difficult to study for tests. The tests it's self were moderately difficult and you needed to study hard if you don't have a amazing memory and the study guides she gives do not help.
Class is based off of just 4 exams. Attendance is not mandatory, she just reads straight from the textbook. All she does is complain about her personal trauma and somehow tries to relate it to communication. Do not take this professor by far the worst teacher I've ever had.
Grade is based exclusively on four tests. Questions on tests are based on lecture and then key words/concepts from the textbook. Take detailed notes and study the examples of the different concepts she gives you in class and you will be fine. No homework or other grades.
Mayberry is an interesting speaker with fun stories, but the class is graded off of 4 tests and study material felt unclear while sometimes relying on recalling in class discussions. My biggest problem is that I feel my grade in the class does not reflect the amount of time I put into studying for it, an entry level course.
I've never made a review on here, but I'm making my first one just for her! She said and I quote “I don't care if you're on scholarship, your grade is what you get!” She's conscious that her tests (and class overall) is a joke. I wouldn't take this class unless you're a masochistic who enjoys suffering!
She just makes me sad. If you aren't one of her favorites, be prepared to be miserable. I did fine in the class but Mayberry as a person? Condescending, rude, lacks empathy, etc. Your grade will reflect how much she likes you. There are other classes you can take to fill a 300 credit, this one isn't worth it. She will crush your spirit.
She talks about her personal life all class and then attendance isn't mandatory but then half the questions on the test are from what she said in class. Keep in mind I attended all classes and ended with a C+. The classes aren't recorded and she refuses to go over material if it's in the text book before the test because she says you can read it.
don't take her she is critical , the class is test only and there's 4 so if you mess up with one you're screwed and she's doesn't do lowest test dropped or final replaces lowest, she spends a lot of the time talking about her personal life in lectures and when it comes to tests she also puts niche questions from videos that are 30 mins long
All I have to say is read the textbook if you want to do well on the tests. There are no other grade opportunities besides tests, so if you do bad on one you're screwed. The whole lecture is her talking about her personal life stories.
I am surprised to see so many low and negative reviews. This was my favorite class and I was very engaged in her lectures. Yes, the only grades are your exams, but the exams are not difficult as long as you pay attention and understand the concepts. If you know an example for every concept you will do fine, this is what the tests mostly consist of.
Just go to class. Her lectures were so fun and she gives a lot of good examples to help you understand the material (and many are referenced on the exams). Go back in the textbook to look over all of the terms on the study guide and you should be ok. She can definitely be rude during review sessions, but it's honestly iconic and I love her.
a lot of people hate on my queen julie but i loved having her. she gives tons of examples through personal stories and class participation. she tends to go on tangents sometimes and doesn't cover nearly as much as is written in the textbook but just read the textbook chapters and you'll be fine
Do not take under any circumstance. Action via the university needs to be taken regarding this professor.
All I'm gonna say is, it's YOU, not HER. Put in the work and you will do fine, you all are just not used to getting what you want. She grades critically which is important because we are adults in college. Learn grammar and learn how to read an easy textbook. You genuinely must not do an ounce of studying if you can't pass her class.
There's no reason that a com class should've been my lowest grade. The only way to get a good grade in this class is to read the textbook. She barely covers anything in lectures, mostly rambles about one or two stories the whole time. The only grades are the three tests and the final so if you do bad on one test, it's nearly impossible to recover.
Just read the post 2 down. It is not on you. I went to every class, took notes, read the textbook, took notes then made quizlets. When I went for help and guidance. Mayberry told me that she could not help me and I should "give up, stop coming to class and take COM112 with a different teacher". Wow!, right. Save yourself the stress AKA stay away!
I liked Professor Mayberry, but I genuinely was interested in the course material. You have to read, like that is a must!! STAY OFF YOUR PHONE because it genuinely is not worth losing 20 points on a test grade. You have to study, but overall I thought she was a good professor. She was a little dismissive though.
Worst teacher I've had in college. Her lectures are such a pain to attend, she talks about her personal life for the entire class, often times telling inappropriate stories. She also does not care about how students are doing in her class and lacks empathy all around. Disgrace of a teacher and she needs to be dealt with by the school. Do not take
If you don't do well in this class, it's on you, not her. I've taken Mayberry for 112, 202, and 322. Yes, she is a tough grader and matter-of-fact. But if you take notes, do the readings, and study, there's no reason you shouldn't do well. She's also pretty funny!
Ms Mayberry was an amazing professor! I was a little scared but you can tell that she cares about her students. She can be a lil tough but just attend lectures and listen and you have an easy A. Easily my favorite class.
I'm not sure why Ms. Mayberry is rated so low, I really enjoyed the way she taught by using examples and storytelling during lectures. She often showed video clips and let people share their own experiences related to the topics. Be aware the only grades are the three tests and then a final so make sure you go to class and study beforehand.
If you take any course with this professor it will be your biggest mistake at NC State. Your GPA will absolutely tank no matter how much work you put in. Not only does she rate her self on this website but she will not even go out of her way to help you when you ask for it throughout the semester. do not take..
Her lectures are funny and do a great job exemplifying concepts. Getting an A will not be difficult if you're willing to take detailed notes and memorize textbook terms + facts from required videos. Just expect it to be time consuming & make up for the lack of homework. In spite of some over-specific test questions, I loved coming to class & her.
Avoid at all costs, like I'm so serious it's hard for no reason. Legit don't take fr.
Makes the class way harder than it should be
She isn't mean, and her personal stories help with understanding the material. Exams include specific verbal details from lectures, so studying videos and chapters is key. Extra credit is complex, and study guides aren't helpful. Exams are fair but require precision. Would retake if needed, but the curriculum isn't enjoyable.
This class was a lot harder than my accounting class, I'm telling you right now NO COMMUNICATION CLASS SHOULD BE HARDER THAN AN INTRO TO ACCOUNTING CLASS. She is so boring & only talks about herself. Depending on ur personality and if u don't care about ur gpa, if u can tell that u like her on the first week before Withdraw dates, u might enjoy her
Don't get how some people glaze her the way they do. Generally a terrible and uncaring human being
Julie Mayberry is the epitome of rude. She is the most condescendingly oriented professor at state. In fact, I know many people that reported her to the chair in my class. Do not take her for any reason unless you want to pass with a C- which she deems "above average."
This is the worst professor at this school. Worst teacher I've ever had. She lies to her students and her lectures are absolutely dreadful. Told us not to study certain content on the final and then tested us on it. I will be pursuing action through the department.
This course was required for my major. I would not recommend it if you DO NOT like group projects. Exams in this class are group exams, you will need to read the textbook in order to pass both the exams and in class quizzes. Technology is not allowed during class, not even for note taking. Make sure you write everything down.
I posted a previous rating and it got taken down, this happened the same with my friend. So be careful what you say here because there will be people who were suckups to Mayberry and try to take ratings down to make her look good. Besides the point you will never meet a more uncaring, unprofessional, and bad teaching professor than Mayberry
Never worked so hard for a C minus. This teacher goes out of her way to make life difficult for her students. The worst part of this class is easily her lectures. Everything is a story from her life which barely relates to the content. Genuinely so boring and dreadful to listen to. Avoid this if you can, but if not go to class and read the book
Tests are largely about whether or not you came to class--questions cover what happened in class (what activity she did, etc.). Doesn't record lectures. If you miss class, no matter why, you're toast. Knowing the textbook isn't enough to do well on tests. Whole grade is made of tests. Take another prof. She doesn't allow tech and her lectures suck.
No recorded lectures, vague answers, and vibes of ‘figure it out yourself.' The textbook taught me more than she did. Office hours? More like office myths. Frankly, my dear, she doesn't give a damn.
Absolutely horrible professor. Impossible expectations. Someone please send this link to the dept chair!!
Completely unprofessional. She has no business being a professor or a teacher of any sort at any grade level
Honestly don't know how someone can make communications this hard. I was taking calc and organic chemistry at the same time and this class was the most confusing which is inexcusable for a comm class. Would not recommend to anyone.
Sad to see most of these reviews; I loved this class a lot! - No real way for her to grade harshly as the only grades are MCQ tests - She tells stories from her personal life because this class is about understanding the human experience and how we interact with others. It's her way to connect real world experiences with concepts she tests on
Professor Mayberry is not the professor you want to take if you want to learn about small group communication. Not only is the course extremely difficult, but she as the professor is extremely unapproachable. She does not take feedback very well. Do not take this professor under any circumstance.
I hope the university sees these ratings, as this prof reflects poorly on NC State. I began this course interested in the content and ended with a tanked GPA despite attending all lectures and studying hard. She's unhelpful, disinterested in student success, and should not be teaching. Tests are arbitrary and mark is test based. Avoid at all costs.
I went in super scared from all the rate my professor reviews. She's actually very nice and makes it super easy for us. She does yap a lot and sometimes will talk about one subject or personal anecdote way to much. As long as you look over the study guide and mildly pay attention in class, every test should be an easy A.
just dont even sign up for her class unless you want your GPA to plummet
Her lectures were interesting. Nice quizzes. Very talkative. Good lectures with information regarding tests.
Prof. Mayberry is an amazing instructor. I have no idea why people claim her courses are hard or that she's a "bad teacher." She is clearing caring, funny, and helpful if you put the work in. I definitely recommend her and her classes! She made the topics fun and engaging. 10/10 teacher!!!
This class wasn't actually half bad, it was ALL bad.
I am honesty shocked to see the reviews for her class. She cares a lot and if you come to class and study a little you should have no trouble in the class. She said that she would take students for lunch if they needed it and she talks on stress and hardships in college that don't get spoken about. I would encourage everyone to take this class.
Very unsupportive professor. When I was extremely sick with a stomach bug and throwing up right before an exam, the response I received was essentially “good luck.” No empathy or accommodation was offered. The class environment felt stressful and dismissive rather than supportive.
Do not take this class. Your entire mark is test-based, and so if you bomb one or two (easy to do... her questions are so arbitrary and impossible to study for) you're just doomed. She's not approachable at all despite reaching out for office hours. Avoid this prof completely. The positive reviews on here have got to be rigged.
If I could give her a zero, I would. I know people who had to withdraw from the class because the tests are impossible and if you bomb one you don't recover. The questions are more about what SHE THINKS rather than what is actually written in the textbook so they are impossible to study for. AWFUL!!!!!!!
Tests are difficult. Be prepared to study outside of class
If I had the choice of taking a course with this prof again or swimming with water moccasins in Lake Raleigh... I'd get my bathing suit on. Having a course grade based only on tests when said tests are basically impossible to study for successfully is really just a kick in the teeth.
Never take this class unless you want your GPA to tank. There is no projects or anything else to boost your grade and your whole mark comes from your test score. The tests contain questions that were never mentioned in class and overall extremely unfair. Avoid this class, and Julie Mayberry at all costs.
Horrible teacher
Your entire grade is based off 3 tests and a final. While attendance is not mandatory, it is kind of required since the tests ask about brief things that happened in class. There is stuff on the test only found in the book. I wouldn't take this class unless you are a great test taker, willing to read the entire book, and attend almost every class.
despite the other reviews… she is not the devil LMAO. it's EXTREMELY lecture heavy. The class consists of 3 midterms and a final, with mini 5-4 question quizzes that are super easy to take. attendance is not mandatory but GO TO LECTURES!! to study i suggest skimming the textbook and cross reference with notes taken from class.
Your entire grade is based on 3 tests and the final. All tests and even the final ask questions on in-class activities and videos that she shows in class. They are not available to watch outside of class. Attendance is mandatory, but it does not affect your grade. If you have to take this class, take it online or with any other professor.
Mayberry is absolutely the worst professor in CHASS! This professor needs to be taken out of the communication department.
