I always did very poorly in math until I took Pre-Algebra and Beginning Algebra with Mrs. Phelps. I am taking it with the Start Right Program, which I highly reccomend for any student who finds math difficult. She is a Superior Educator and I reccomend.

Very awesome professor. Went at a pace that everyone could understand and was very very helpful. Kept the class interesting. She is willing to help you with any questions you have and is an all around great professor.

She is a good teacher, her style is very visual teaching wise. Sometimes she gets frustrated at our questions but she tries. If you show effort she will meet you half way. Ms. Phelps really wants you to pass, and you can tell. Tests are a little challenging, but there is study guides provided.

I really liked her attitude towards teaching and her students, but I was not a fan of her teaching *methods. I really dislike working with people & on the first week we were forming groups. I want to feel like I'm in college, and a lot of times I felt like I was in middle school. She is VERY kind and attentive. I'm particularly not good at math.

Mrs. Phelps is great. I took her intensive intermediate algebracollege algebra course. I had low expectations going into it as I normally struggle with math. She explains everything very well and in multiple different ways. So if you don't understand it one way she is likely to explain it in a way you will understand. I would definitely recommend!

Mrs. Phelps is a great teacher. Expect a lot of HW but it helps with tests. Gives alot of in class quizzes. Will drop lowest quiz and test grade. She expects you to know how to teach yourself sometimes and is pretty hard in class but if you go to her office, she's ALWAYS there to help. I got an A in the class with hard work and help from her.

Trig is not an easy class, especially for someone who is not good at math. However, Phelps is a really great professor. Her office hours are amazing, she is there for you WHENEVER you need her. Do the homework, do the extra credit, and pay attention in class. I am horrible at math and passed with a B.

I took Phelps' trigonometry class on Valencia's East Campus over Summer (2015), and even for an accelerated course the homework was very fair! She's very clear in her lectures, simply teaches what you need, and gives you plenty of time for questionsfeedback. I got an A workingstudying 4 hours a week max, but you will be working for your grade.

Professor Phelps has to be the best professor I have ever had! She was able to keep the class interesting which is hard to do in math. I am really good at math, but I took a few years off so that's why I took her intermediate and college algebra combined course and I'm so happy I did! Definitely an easy A if you put in the work!

Took intensive course 1033C/1105. She's a great professor, but can be moody at times. She helps you out a lot though! 7 unit exams, random quizzes, & hw given everyday. If you pass hw in late she'll give you partial credit. I don't like the lab 1 day a week thing. It's pointless & you get graded for attendance on it. Txtbook is given online, FREE!

I took intensive algebra which is college and intermediate algebra combined. she is a good professor overall. Be prepared to go to lots of tutoring because there is just not enough time to grasp everything in class. Downside: does not answer emails, test reviews are done by other students, and do not help us prepare. intensive is taught too fast.

Yes, you will have to do hw through Pearson & some of the hw is redundant, but its not too bad. Professor Phelps is kind and will certainly help you understand as long as you speak up and reach out. Overall, if you want a good grade in ANY class YOU will have to put in the effort.

Dr. Phelps is by far an amazing professor, I had her for college & intermediate algebra, and I gotta say by far it's been the easiest math credit I've ever pulled through. Show up to class, take notes, ask questions if you're stuck. She'll occasionally call on people to make sure they're understanding, she knows, also free helpful textbook as well.

She is very kind and wants her students to succeed. She gave out hw problems from the textbook, posted notes online, had in class participation in groups, and 5 tests (including the final). She had review days where you were put into groups and did problems similar to the test for possible extra cred.

Took Prof. Phelps during the pandemic so it was all online. I normally hate online classes, especially when it comes to math or science, but Prof. Phelps helps us as best as she could to understand the material. Lost of HW and test practice, but it really does help. Overall a great teacher, would take her again for calc 2 but she doesn't teach it.

As someone who has never been that great at math I was very nervous to take Calc 1 however Dr. Phelps completely changed that! She is an AWESOME professor and her class was very organized even with the online format from the pandemic. If you attend her lectures and do all of the homework/review sessions you will do well!

Great professor ever! It was an RTV combined class with intermediate and college algebra. So, it felt like face to face class! The way she explains everything is amazing! Just be aware that taking 2 class in 1 means studying a lot! I was so afraid a the begining to fail it but got an A!

This class has lots of homework and several lectures. 4 tests, 1 final exam. You don't have to attend the lectures, but they help a lot. She wants you to pass but you have to work with her. If you think you're well versed in math, I highly recommend her, because she's really good at teaching calculus. Taking her makes me feel prepared for Calc 2.

I'm a transient student that took Dr. Phelps over the summer and she was fantastic. Calc is going to be hard no matter what, but she was very clear on what she wanted you to learn during lectures and gave lots of practice. There are a lot of homework and your grade is mostly from the 4 exams. She also had the option of recorded lectures.

Professor Phelps is a great professor. For a class like Calculus, she makes every concept and problem very much understandable. She holds sessions where we complete assigned homework with our peers and she has review sessions before every exam. 4 in class exams plus the final and mandatory test corrections. Takes way too long to post your grades. The grades of one test would be posted after we took the next test. By the same logic, the final exam was never graded. She is kind and cares about her students but I would rather have not wasted my time taking a final exam that ended up not mattering at all

Calculus is hard, Dr. Phelps made it as easy as it could be (Which is, granted, still very hard). Consistent zoom lectures where she also answers questions live; Answers fast; Try VERY hard or else lol; Organized; Super nice and sweet; Understanding; AMAZING AMAZING online course, she actualy teaches you??; Make sure you WATCH the lectures though-

If you're great at math this is the class for you. Calc is the hardest class I've ever taken in my life. This professor though. Is absolutely amazing. She is so nice and understanding she will do everything and anything to help you succeed in this class. I recommend her heavilyyyyy!! 3 exams 1 final. class is literally 70% exams so study up.

The math class on canvas was straightforward and allowed for self-paced progress. lack of guidance on certain topics made it challenging. Completing assignments made the class manageable. Offered extra credit opportunities for written assignments during midterms and finals. she was a fantastic instructor, making it an easy class to pass.

took calc 1 twice and failed both times horribly. passed this class with an 87. lectures online are extremely better than any other professor valencia has to offer. makes everything understandable and you can use desmos on every test. she teaches you how to verify answers on desmos so you know you are on track with the question.

She's honestly a dream: just a seriously competent professor with a highly refined teaching style. The flipped classroom model is the standard now, for better or worse; she makes the absolute most of it. Her Canvas pages are beautifully organized. Calc is hard no matter what, but she gives you so many tools. If you're trying, she'll recognize that.

Good teacher and good teaching skills. Test are easy and gives extra credit if you have a cheat sheet that will help you on the test. Tests are in person and aren't multiple choice but If you study you'll do good. You have to work in groups that she puts together so be ready to meet people. Tests are 55% your grade. Homework is easy.

Super sweet professor. She doesnt really lecture in class you have to teach yourself the work and once you come to class she puts you in a group and you guys have to figure everything together. Her tests are hard if you dont study but luckily she allows you to have a cheatsheet for every test and in the end of the semester you can retake any test.

There is a lot of homework in this class. About 10-15 assignments every 2 - 3 weeks, with 4 tests total and 1 final. Tests have no honorlock, but the final is proctored. Beware, this class is definitely a teach yourself kind of class. Textbook pages and video explanations provided. Assignments are mostly participation. Good class, lots of work!

Professor Phelps makes Calculus doable, even for struggling students. Her online lectures are vastly superior to other professors. Use Unstuck study and stay engaged - it really helps get through this tough course.

Honestly this is my favorite math teacher I have ever had if you apply yourself a little it is easy to get an A. I hope to have her for differential equations.

great prof! idk what the other ratings were saying but she does have lectures and isnt that assignment heavy. midterm & final are proctored on zoom (i got A's on both), she does online sessions weekly covering a bunch of problems from the current lessons (counts for credit). hw for each lesson & about 2-3 lessons weekly, lectures: 20-100 mins avg

Professor Phelps was an amazing professor and this class was not that bad. Just make sure to study for the tests and exams. She allows a page of notes on the front and back to use on the tests and exams.

She is an incredibly caring professor who truly wants her students to succeed. She explains concepts in a clear, digestible way and makes even challenging material easier to understand. She is always willing to work with you, ask questions, and provide support until the very end of the course.

TAKE JULIE PHELPS!!!! There is no other way I can say it. It's been two years since I took her Calc I and II class and now I am at UCF for engineering, literally the best professor I've ever had when it comes to learning math. So caring and she really wants you to succeed. I challenge you to find a better professor than her. (Seriously, you can't.)
