Really awesome teacher and shes hot
Decent teacher, tests are tough, quizzes are thorough ... but shes hot
She is so nice and explains things very well. SHe is easy if u go to class. She helps u learn by playing games and doing lots of activities. Definetly recommend!
One of the best teachers I've had at UCF. She has a Canadian accent, but that was sort of helpful in my French class. She's lots of fun, and I would highly recommend her.
i love her!!! she is such a good teacher and she is fun! very very recommended!
I liked going to her class. The work isn't hard at all, and she sometimes hints at answers on tests if she thinks its too hard to understand! The games really help when it comes to taking the quizzes and tests! Great teacher!
Best teacher ever!! She plays games and makes spanish easier to learn. Take her class!
Awesome teacher. French accent is sometimes a little hard to understand, but she's still a very good teacher. Very fair grader as well.
Wonderful instructor. French accent throws you off at first, but she makes class a lot of fun--games and exercises really helped me to learn the material. Take her classes!
sweetest women. willing to help and always smiling!! teaching style keeps you interested!! TAKE HER CLASS!
Best teacher I've ever had at UCF! Always helpful and always smiling! TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!!!!
i had to drop this class so i wouldnt fail...tests i thought were difficult and her accent was kinda think
She's a great teacher. You'll do great in the class as long as you actually go!
she is the best teacher ever! she is so adorable and she knows how to teach everything so that u will remember it down the road. i took her for spn 1 and 2. i HIGHLY recommend her!
Julie is a great teacher! i will definately take her for spanish 2. if you are a beginner at spanish she is a great teacher. she is very helpful and takes it real slow. it also helps that she is very nice!
Really good teacher, very nice and helpful, the course book kinda stinks though and I thought it went fast for beggining but languages are really hard for me. But she is an awesome teacher I definitely recommend her.
Great Person! So helpful and interested in students.
she is really nice and helpful if you pay attention in class their is no way you cant get an A plus the tests come out the text
Awesome teacher! Definitly best Spanish teacher I could have taken :)
One of the best teachers at UCF. Kind, caring, always looking out for the interests of the students! Take her class, and when you do, make sure you play Carrumba!!!!
One of the nicest people you'll ever meet. ALWAYS smiling, very helpful. I didn't find her accent difficult to understand at all; definitely recommend her to anyone considering one of her classes.
This class is very easy and the teacher is helpful and is clear and helps you understand.
She is the sweetest prof I've ever had. She is young and very caring. She wants to make sure everyone understands and her class is structured so that it is interesting. You have to go to class b/c she takes attendance and you have to do homework. Her 1st lang is French which is cool. Take her!
Awesome teacher. Really nice and helpful and always cheery. Tests are straightforward and easy. I definitely recommend her!
Awesome teacher! Her enthusiasm is contagious and she works very hard with the students to make them understand. Anybody could be so lucky to have such a wonderful teacher. If you have a chance to take her, do! You won't regret it!
Julie is a very genuinely concerned and compassionate professor. Her class made Spanish understandable. She doesn't make unreasonable demands or assignments, but go to class; she takes attendance. I highly recommend her and wish she were teaching 1121 this semester.
Awesome professor. She helps everyone and makes everything really clear. Take her if you can, you won't regret it.
She was a very good teacher, but i didn't really like her teaching style i would have been lost if i didnt take spanish before. Easy class overall, lots of busy work. I got an A
Great Teacher! Worked with me when I needed help in switching to a lower level class. Great and funny.
nicest and prettiest professor i've had at UCF.
Very nice and attractive. Learning is easier when its easy on the eyes.
She has a french accent which makes learning spanish from her impossible. She didn't seem very organized at all. I had to switch out of her class right away.
Julie was an amazing Spanish professor, definitely my favorite class of all time. She made Spanish so much fun and the whole class was spoken in Spanish and I understood 100% of what she said. I'd do it all over in a heart beat
She's one of the best Spanish professors at UCF, mainly because she's always so happy and nice. The review games she makes for the class may seem childish to some people, but it's more fun to play games than do classwork. She does have a French accent, but I still learned Spanish just fine.
She is very nice and young so you can relate to her. She is always upbeat which makes the class a lot of fun. Make sure to study the reviews-- very helpful for the tests!!!
shes an awesome teacher.....very helpful and makes learning the languge much easier..if you get in her class you are lucky..
Spanish with this lady was a breeze. Easy A with minimal effort. If you fail with her, consider yourself retarded. She will spend as much time as you need to understand something. She looks pretty good too.
we love pomerleau.
sooo helpful and sooo sweet. To be honest I took French in high school and this was all completely new to me, but she teached very well and got me up to speed. I actually enjoy her teaching techniques because it really helps you retain the info.
She is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!!! Take her. Whatever you have to do!! She is such a great teacher. Do NOT listen to anyone who says her French accents makes learning difficult...NO! She is very easy to understand and just such a nice, wonderful teacher!!!
BEST TEACHER AT UCF! i adored her she was amazing. she made it sooo easy and enjoyable, she plays little games which make the class go by quick. i wanted her for spanish 2 but so many people wanted her as well i didnt get the opportunity. TAKE HER!
So good! You don't need to look at the other ratings. They all say the same, truthful thing. Take her, take her, take her! Makes Spanish (and French) fun! Feel priveleged if you can find an open seat in her class!
Ms. Pomerleau is the cutest, nicest, loveliest professor I have encountered at UCF. She is completely dedicated to her students and is always willing to help. She is req. to cover a lot of material, so sometimes the vocab. may seem overwhelming, but she will help you all the way through it. The tests aren't very hard either. I love her! Awesome.
I LOVE her! So much so that I signed up for Spanish II with her as well. She's friendly, kind, and willing to work with you. I missed a quiz and she let me stop by her office later on and take it. She's a pretty easy grader, too, and I love that all the homework is online.
She's very nice and makes it easy, but if you are actually trying to learn the language then I would recommend Korosy instead.
This professor is awesome. She is very helpful and sweet. The final exam is pretty tough but the professor doesn't create those, it's a department thing. She prepares her students very well for it though and I ended up with an A in the class.
One of the best professors I've had for his/her respective subject. She is very passionate in her teaching and always upbeat which makes you more in tune with keeping up and learning the material. She makes the class fun even though I am taking it to graduate. By the way, she is extremely cute and her French accent makes her even cuter.
Julie is amazing! I never use to like spanish but she made it very fun for me. She has a very strong but cute French accent and she teaches the material so that everyone can understand. Attendance is mandatory but you'll like going to class especially when we play Jeopardy! SHE IS A MUST TAKE!! Me gusta Julie!
Easy but you still need to study. Uses the whole class time effectivly to maximize learning. Assignments are easy enough JUST DO THEM and she is always willing to help you in or out of class. Pay attention in class because she will call on you if she thinks your not
I loooove Julie. She makes you feel so comfortable speaking Spanish. Two small easy group presentations, makes up fun games, very laid back. Do the online homework and know the vocab. But take her if you can!
An amazing French professor. Very extremely helpful and sweet. Will go out of her way to make something clear for a student. It's a shame she doesn't teach more of the French classes.
she is a great teacher ,I loved her soooooooooooo much and it was a very easy clas ,I took her in spanich take it, it is easy A
Julie is great! She is entertaining, funny and laid back. She really does make class fun. And on every Friday she has "Improvisation day" which is basically an episode of Whose Line is it Anyways. Not the easiest class but as long as you understand spanish fairly well you shouldn't have a problem. Definitely take her.
Very nice lady, she is always willing to help you. Class itself is hard, test are tough but if you do the study guides, ALL the hw, and STUDY the vocab/material you will do fine.
Great class!!! She makes it easy to understand and learn. There a bunch of fun games that do not make u feel like u r learning. DONT wait last minute to do the homework but the homework is VERY easy. TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Got a B in the class. Very easy class as long as you study a little. All tests are online so they are open book. You do two presentations but they are easy and one interview which is also easy. Two of these are with partners. You do small quizzes almost every class but they are on what you were suppose to read for that class. They are so easy.
Great professor. Really enthusiastic about teaching. Participate in class and you'll get an A. Tests are straightforward, grades fair on compositions, and only 4 homeworks assignments to turn in. If you have a chance to take her I recommend it!
Also had her for SPN 2200. She is very kind, outgoing, approachable, very willing to help, tries to make class fun, group work is common, grading is fair (definitely possible to get an A if you do what's asked). She knows her stuff. The kind of person you would want to know beyond class--come on, she speaks like 3 other languages! doesnt get better
Sometimes this instructor's French accent gets in the way when she is teaching Spanish. She is very enthusiastic and enjoys teaching. Class time does fly by, BUT the ANDA textbook & online work is not clear--online work is alot of "busy" work that doesn't really teach the concept. SPN1121, I used the VISTA Spanish text at SSC-much better.
She is one of the best professors I have ever had! She is very helpful, and the class is easy as long as you do all of your assignments! Easy A! Usually teaches Spanish, but either way is an amazing professor!!
The way she teaches her class is ridiculous. Yes, it's an easy A, but only because attendence is worth more points than any of her real grades (which is ridiculous). So if you miss a few classes, be prepared to get a C or below. And if you want to actually LEARN french, i would suggest a teacher that actually TEACHES and cares.
She was extremely nice and very helpful. Attendance is mandatory and if you miss more than 3 your grade drops severely. Heavy use of the textbook as well. The class was challenging, but it was because of the content and not the teacher. She was wonderful and I would take her again.
She is awesome!! She is so nice and very lenient. I would def reccomend her. Like don't even hesistate. Seriously. It's not her that makes up assigments or hw but the hw is kinda of annoying but like if you do it in advance you shouldn't have a problem.
She's awesome! So helpful and sweet! If you attend class and complete the assignments, you WILL do well. I would definitely take her classes again if I could.
She is a really great teacher and is also really helpful. The class gets a little ridiculous because of department issues, but even those aren't too bad. I would suggest taking her. I wish she was teaching French 2.
Extremely kind and helpful if you ask for help. Online tests don't give half credit but she is always willing to fix that when possible. Overall a very enjoyable class, and I wish she were teaching the second half. :(
Super nice, super helpful. Definitely have to study if you want to retain the information. Other than that - fairly easy B just by doing homework, doing decent on tests, and going to class. Also - never in my entire 4 year college career has a class gone by so fast. I would feel like I just sat down and realize it had been 45 minutes.
She's an amazing professor! She's so helpful and nice. The course is a lot of work and you have to study to earn a grade. Attendance is mandatory because it's a university policy. She gives mini quizzes at the beginning of every class but lets you know what to study beforehand. It's a 5 question quiz and never too difficult.
Excellent professor! I wish I would have been able to take her class for french two. I think other language teachers could learn great things from her and possibly learn from her methods.
A really great teacher! She is very nice and helpful. She makes learning French fun. Definitely one of the nicest and most helpful teachers I've taken. I am so glad I took this class with her. I highly recommend her.
Nice person but she acts like you don't have other classes. I spent more than 24 hours a week studying. She has a one minute quizzes that you have to study hours for, weekly online homework, compositions, and Spanish presentations that you have to memorize and say in front of the class. I DON'T suggest her class!
Madame Pomerleau is a very good professor as well as a great person. There is A LOT of assignments that have to be done for this class though. Online oral assignments, discussions, exams, and homework. There is also about 2 group presentations (1 being the final) and fun in class projects. Most of the assignments aren't hard just time consuming.
If you really want to learn french, take her courses. She's very informative and knows what needs to be done in order to teach students. Yes, there is a lot of work, but it's doable, just make sure you're organized and on top of everything. I wish I took French 2 with her, but her classes are all in the morning.
Pomerleau is an great professor and an incredibly sweet lady. She explains the content thoroughly and is sure to be understanding to each students situation. She makes the course feel actually pretty easy but also teaches the material, so you will defintely become better at French in her class without drowning in work. 10/10 would recommend!
Great professor. Homework due every Wednesday, test for all of the chapters, and mini assignments and group projects helps your grade a lot. Doesn't expect students to have great fluency, take her if you can!
She's the best, I'm honestly very upset I can't take her for French 2. There's a 4 oral exams which we all hated but she's very light with grading them. Make sure you go to every class because attendance is necessary and graded. I would definitely recommend her though. Very little homework and she's a really great professor.
This class was great. Just make sure you do the work. She makes it really easy, and you'll be surprised how much you learn!
She is the absolute best. There IS homework every week but it's easy. For the listening comprehension, if you're struggling, check what page the online homework has listed and you can read the script. Tough part: listening comprehension on tests. Study vocab prior to each class because, like, every other class there's a One Minute Quiz.
I absolutely loved this class! There is a lot of work, but it's manageable and it's all very helpful. There are several oral assignments and a lot of class participation but I didn't mind because it allowed me to practice speaking. And she's not too harsh of a grader! I wish I could take her for all French classes because she's great!
Prof. Pomerleau is a Quebec native, passionate about language education. She immersed me in Francophone culture really well within limits of the classroom, and gave me a facile introduction to French. Her tests and 1-minute quizzes were designed and graded fairly. Despite the class's lack of difficulty, it still taught me the language very well.
Ms. Pomerleau is very passionate about teaching and truly makes learning Spanish fun. I always looked forward to participating in her class. There was a lot of online homework but she had little control over that. There are a lot of grades and opportunities to bolster your grade. 5 question quizzes once or twice a week. Excellent professor.
She is an excellent professor who is always ready to help you understand. There is a lot of homework but that is not in her control. I would take her for all of my language classes if I could!
Sra. Profesora is very nice. She's very easy to talk to when students have concerns or questions. Attend class, participate and do the homework. She always give OMQ(one minute quizzes) on the vocabulary Also, there's 3 writing activities and live chats we must do. Overall, she's a really good Spanish professor. I took her for both SPN 1120 & 1121.
Great professor. Lenient but has clear expectations. You can tell she really cares for her students. The class itself uses a lot of group work and oral participation. My french improved a lot and I would take this professor again
DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASSES. She makes you record everything and completely defeats the purpose of online. She's also not very reliable and doesn't even remotely budge when it comes to helping students out.
Professor Pomerleau is an excellent Spanish Professor. She is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable. She is also very helpful at answering any questions that students have. Her course is also well structured. I highly recommend taking Pomerleaus Spanish courses.
The curriculum is the same across the entire Spanish department so no matter which professor you choose it will be challenging, but I recommend Pomerleau. She is very helpful/nice. There are a lot of assignments to keep up with, textbook/access code is ridiculously expensive and software is terrible (they're changing it in Fall 2018 though).
An actual angel. Almost every week there is a quiz but she makes them so easy to pass, you can study 30 minutes before the class and get a 100% or above. There are 4 orals and they are really not bad, she will help you out if you forget your lines. Homework every Tuesday and Thursday. You need the book. If you need a language, this is the best.
Professor Pomerleau is a very positive and caring professor. She makes you feel comfortable asking for help and is a very fair grader. There is a good amount of homework and multiple presentations but they are all very easy if you put the work in. Loved her!
She is really not caring whatsoever. Her class is a lot of work, I would spend a lot of hours just to get the work done. I would not recommend her at all for ANY OF HER CLASSES!
Literally the sweetest human being. She wants everyone to do well. She keeps the class super light and fun. I ended up with a 100% in her class however I did put in a tiny bit of effort. She drops a ton of grades a quiz, a discussion, 6 homeworks, etc. Easy peasy for sure.
Great professor. Makes the class fun and easy. 4 oral presentations, chapter quizzes here and there. No in class tests. Very sweet lady. Online homework due every Monday and Wednesday which can pile up. Drops lowest grade from each category. Wish I could take her for French 2.
Prof. Pomerleu is really caring about your grades and you can come to her with any issues. Due dates were clear and easy to follow. Homework was reasonable with good feedback. A lot of homework is online and you have to have the online textbook to do it.
Prof Pomerleau is the sweetest! And also a wonderful teacher. She will give you back what you put in. If you really want to learn, she is great for the job and makes it enjoyable. Be ready for a few presentations and online homeworks. Lectures weren't too helpful unless I had a question but are mandatory. Small class size makes it super personal!
Prof. Pomerleau is so sweet and really wants everyone to do well in the class! She drops the lowest quiz score and the 6 lowest homework scores. She's super eager to help too. I'm really bummed I can't take her for French 2.
Here is what I learned of her teaching style: 1) Lots of information and vocabulary given in the beginning! I was afraid it'd be like that every week, but it's not, it slows down. 2) She's a forgiving grader! Honestly if you try, you'll do okay, she understands how hard it is. 3) Duolingo!!!! I wish I had started using it sooner!!
Professor Pomerleau is great, she gives excellent feedback, tries to answer any questions you may have best to her ability. She gives quite a bit of homework which is due every Wednesday and Sunday but I think that it really helps you memorize and learn. Would recommend 10/10.
She is great, I loved her class! I took french in hs, but it was great refresher. I would've done just as well if I didn't take french prior. Attendance was mandatory, but so worth it. She explains things well. The hw is not that hard, most is on VHL. The final is a video presentation w a voiceover, but she isn't a harsh grader. Great professor!
If you pay attention in class it should be an easy A. She cares about her students and her class is very straightforward. It is required to buy the online interactive textbook but this can be used for french one and two.
Professor Pomerleau made me feel so comfortable in her class. I have anxiety, and was nervous about taking a physical language class, but her class was very informative while being fun. She is so caring - homework heavy, but it actually helps you learn the language. She is so sweet, def take her. Very understanding and is willing to work with you.
To preface, I entered the class with a background in English and Spanish so some language rules were a little easier to pick up but French is definitely a tough language to learn. Just put in the work and don't be afraid to ask questions.
This class was very very heavy in course work. Students were having such a hard time the first month or so she let us retake one of the quizzes. You should be fine if you put the work in, I went to office hours and she was very helpful. I am taking her class again. To summarize lots of work but if you ask for help she is there.
The class can be hard, especially at the beginning but the professor is always very helpful. Get ready to study alot outside of class and don't be afraid to ask questions
She is a wonderful professor and does her best to clarify anything students have questions on. Theres a fair amount of homework but not of it necessarily proves difficult if you pay attention in class. All projects very straight forward and graded fairly.
There's a good amount of homework, but that's expected with a language course. Professor Pomerleau is amazing! The way she teaches makes learning french easier than I expected. She's very accessible and caring. As long as you pay attention and do the homework, you should have no problem at all. I'm taking her again for French 2 next semester.
Prof Pomerleau is a very nice professor and she makes it easy to get an A and learn well at the same time. She explained the concepts very well. There was a lot of homework, so be prepared to spend around 5-6 hours per week for this class.
Professor Pomerleau is an amazing professor this is a 4 credit class so be prepared to wok hard there is a lot of hw and other assignments you have to do. There is a midterm a written part, and an oral. The final is a digital story telling about your life you can do it by using iMovie or some other software. Pomerleau is so sweet I enjoyed it!
Good lecture videos/study materials that prepared me for FRE 1121. Pretty generous grader, especially for pronunciation.
She's seriously an amazing teacher. Class was only once a week for me so the homework did most of the teaching but she'd go over everything in class and explains things really well. I could tell she really cares for her students. I'm taking her class again this semester.
Madame Pomerleau is awesome I took her for FRE 1120C last fall of 2022 and I took her this spring of 2023 for FRE 1121C she is very sweet and generous with her grading, and she makes learning French fun. you have VHL HW, Quizzes, oral practice, 2 oral presentations, canvas activities, you have a final video project and you write a script. ;)
I was super nervous to take French again because I didn't do well with it in high school, but Madame Pomerleau is the BEST! She is so sweet and genuinely wants all of her students to succeed. I had no idea how capable I was of learning a new language until this class. I'm so excited to have her again for FRE1121C next semester!
If language studying is difficult for you, you may not want to take her online - notes and open-book are not allowed on tests, which are proctored. You must keep up with the homework and have self-discipline - don't be afraid to ask for help early, as she is incredibly kind and willing to give it! You have to put in effort if you want to do well.
I enjoyed my two semesters with Professor Pomerleau. She makes videos for her online class explaining the grammar and I found it very helpful. She also cares and will reach out to you if something doesn't seem right and is very understanding. It is hard to find teachers willing to talk to you so they can understand your situation.
I had the pleasure of taking both FRE1120C and FRE1121C with Madame Pomerleau! Her lectures were so much fun and I had the opportunity to connect with my classmates through small group activities. She gives great feedback on assignments and is always accessible outside of class. I highly recommend taking this professor if you can!
Not a do nothing and get an A class, but she makes you learn and it's easy. Very straightforward about what will be on tests, goes over concepts in the zoom but definitely need to do homework. If you took French in high school it will be a breeze. Mandatory textbook and attendance. Drops lowest test, projects made up a lot of grade. TAKE HER!
She's fantastic! Really wants you to succeed and learn!
As an introvert, this class truly pushed me out of my comfort zone and really forced me to engage with the language and my classmates. The workload is quite a bit, it is not an "easy A" class by any means, but she is a fantastic professor who genuinely strives to teach and help you succeed.
Madame Pomerleau is an amazing French professor. She genuinely cares about her students and makes learning a new language surprisingly enjoyable. The workload is manageable with the help of resources like unstuckstudy. Highly recommend for any level.
She was super nice and outgoing, I just wouldn't recommend having her for a zoom class. The textbook is $135 for one semester and it's mandatory, so if your major doesn't require a language I'd say it probably isn't worth the money. If it is, however, make sure you take it exclusively in person. Overall, she's a really good professor!
Professor Pomerleau is great! She's super helpful and definitely wants you to succeed. The class is easy to study for, memorizing vocab is key! Attendance is super important though and you are graded on it.
It is a French class, so prepare to do enough homework that forces you to understand the content and apply it. I learned a lot from her and appreciate her teaching style. It was a nice "break" from my other harder classes, and she does an amazing job at teaching. 10/10 I could not recommend her enough!
Professor Pomerleau makes French very approachable. French 2 is much more difficult than French 1 but she wants you to succeed. She will go out of her way to help you do well in the class. Lots of studying and homework but it helps you learn if you're dedicated.
This class was fun! Madame Pomerleau is such an incredible instructor. I could not have chosen a better teacher! I will say since this class is 4 credits, there is a lot of homework/projects. The platform/textbook that is used for the homework does cost about $165 for a year, so keep that in mind. ATTENDANCE MATTERS (graded). Such a fun experience!
Genuinely a very sweet professor, so nice and helpful. As a person who came in with a bit of high school French experience this class was très facile! A lot of the homework is busy work, but it genuinely never took very long to do, like 5 - 10 hours per week MAX. Super easy grader as long as you MAKE AN EFFORT.
Professor Pomerleau is an extremely great teacher, the material is easy but MAKE SURE YOU STUDY! my grade would be way higher if I took even an extra day to study. DO NOT MISS CLASS IF YOU CAN HELP IT THE FIRST TWO ABSENCES SHES EXCUSES AFTER THAT SHE DEDUCTS FROM YOUR OVERALL GRADE, SHE WILL NOT EXCUSE IT UNLESS YOU HAVE A DOCTORS NOTE.
Lots of studying and hard work is required for French 2 but she made it so engaging and as fun as possible. I truly love her personality, she really cares. I went to her office hours and she'd literally drop everything for my questions. 10/10 Prof.
Caring, attentive, supportive professor. Tests and homework are heavy, but they reinforce your learning. Attendance is required but two absences are permitted without impacting grade. I would definitely recommend taking a course of hers.
Didn't explain why I did bad on my final and gave me zero points for an entire section.
