She was very knowledgeable and helpful, tests were hard but fair and she made the material interesting!!!
Organized and grades with a clear syllabus! She uses the blackboard system, so you always know your point total in the class. Lectures follow along with the book. Tests are easy as long as you read the material. I ate lunch in class a few times. This was the only class I looked forward to each week!
Great teacher, very helpful and fair
If you want an easy A, this is the class for you. If you want to actually learn something about psychology, take another teacher. Great person and very helpful, but her personal interests greatly scew the content covered in the course.
She is the a nice person, but all she does is read out the text and show text-provided powerpoints every class! No one in my class ever showed up...probably because there is no point. We could read the book ourselves if thats what we wanted. Really easy class though, if you can stay awake.
Essentially an on-line course. Don't need to show for class, no attendance points. Notes, quizzes and a test are on-line. Group project easy. Book & topic is interesting! Lecture is nothing more than her reading from book. If you are self motivated, this class is for you!
She is nice. you get a lot of extra credit. shes a easy grader but takes 4ever to get it to you and her tests are 50 questions going in order from the first chap to whatever chap. shes cool dont be scared!
An overall good professor. Gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. She is a little boring, but the class is fairly easy, so that makes up for it.
super nice. easy class. easy assignments. found her tests to be a little difficult because of the wording and multiple answers being right, but I could only pick one answer. would recommend
Julie is a really nice teacher. This is an incredibly easy class, but all of her online quizzes are difficult. Boring, yes, but that's how all general psych classes are. Recommendation: Try to find a different teacher
Really nice, but often answers questions saying i dont know. class is really boring, often find myself falling asleep or passing notes. study guides are so confusing.
Took this class during the summer. Interesting stuff and the final was open book. Easy A
Makes psychology fun. She's fun to listen to, and a great teacher.
GO JULIE! GREAT JOB, LOVED THE CLASS. STUDY GUIDES HELPES ME RETAIN MORE INFORMATION THAN I WOULD HAVE OTHERWISE. LOVE THE TEACHING METHOD.
Great for people who aren't looking to major in Psychology. This survey course allows you to get a brief glimpse of ALL sorts of psychology aspects, without drilling into too many details. Prof. Rodriguez is great, grades easily if you show effort, and keeps the class interesting. Would definitely take a class with her over anyone else again!
She is really nice but her classes her just so boring. She pretty much just reads from the book and its hard to not zone out. The tests are really easy since she gives a study guide which she gives you the answers to and allows an index card.SHe has a lot of essays to write but they are all easy to do.Its a really easy class but its pretty boring.
She is an awesome teacher! She is legally blind, and an albino women, but she is really funny, and you learn really cool stuff! Definatley recomend her
She is so nice. She gives an easy A. if your're interested in psycology take her. I'm taking her again for more fun. her classes are what college is about fun, and learning.
Very easy teacher. She's sweet and can be pretty funny at times. Her lectures can be a bit dull and she tends to speed through them but she posts her lectures online. She lets us use a notecard on tests and will tell us exactly what to expect with the study guide. Quizzes are online so you can use your book. Take Rodriguez for Psychology.
This class was cool, just show up & pay attention. She's nice and understanding. I would take another class by her again
She is a very easy teacher but does not grade a thing!!! It is the end of the semester and still on D2L she hasnt graded anything! You never know what your grade is for sure because you never know what you get on assignments..
by far easiest class i've ever taken. most unorganized profes i've ever had.didn't grade 90% of assignments til the end of the semester.wasn't clear on assignments.cancelled class more than once. easy online take home final. if u cant get at least a B inthis class ura big time slacker!lectures wer brutally boring. zZzZzZzZzZ
By far my favorite teacher at FLC. Goes out of her way to help you with school or anything in your personal life.
Didn't have to take notes but I ended up writing down so much that she said just so I could quote her. Both the midterm and final were online. There were times I felt I wasn't learning anything, but I ended up taking away a lot from this class because she was so passionate about what she lectured on. 4 group papers, a few other short papers,2 exams
I took her class in 2009 and I loved it. She really has a passion for psychology and it shows in her lectures. We had online quizzes, exams, and homework. If you do all of the work than an A is very manageable.
I love this professor. Her lectures are filled with examples and are never boring. She has the best study guide EVER! Take her class!
I really Enjoy this class with her she's very passionate and understanding about what your learning and tries to answer questions to the best of her knowledge if she had and other classes id take them just to be in her class again
Very easy teacher. Not very knowledgeable. Teaches with opinions rather than facts, and cannot answer most questions. Good if you're interested in a gpa bump. Bad if you're actually interested in learning. If she can be a college professor, literally anyone else can too.
One of the best teachers I have had in a while! She is 100% for each student's success, and was very realistic about how she ran her class. She would never test us on anything she hadn't taught yet, instead she would push off the test. She added assignments as needed for an opportunity to gain more points, and there was extra credit. Love her!
Professor Rodriguez: LOVED HER and this class. She is 500% for student success. She truly tries to make this class passable. She takes attendance every class--> easy points. She gives study guides for the test. Do the study guide, show up and try and you will pass easily. I'm trying to take all my PSYCH classes with her before I have to transfer.
Excellent Teacher
She was an okay teacher and made class pretty fun but a lot of her facts were wrong. I don't know if she was just saying them to make her opinion sound better or if she was just misinformed but that was really annoying.
Very easy class. Show up to class, complete the study guides and the essays. I guarantee that you will get at least a B. Only homework she assigns are the two essays. All four exams are online and she drops the lowest score. So if you get an A on the first three exams, you dont have to take a final. She also offers many extra credit opportunities.
She is a very nice lady. however, lectures were boring, study guides were confusing and unclear, not really a whole lot of new material, and she does NOT respond to emails. i emailed her at least 10 times over the course of the semester and did not get one reply back. take this class to boost GPA but otherwise, boring, useless, and a waste of time.
She is a truly special lady and a great professor. Her lectures are not boring as long as you participate and she has a great sense of humor which makes the class fun. She doesn't overwhelm you with homework. As long as you fully complete the study guide before the exam, you will get an A. The study guide is the exam! I took her for PSYC 300and361
Her lectures aren't helpful because she just breezes by them, but you don't really need them since she allows a cheat sheet on the tests. You basically just show up and you'll do fine as long as you do the homework (which is also super easy). She's nice and will help if you ask.
I love professor Julie Rodriguez, she is a truly amazing lady and I wish more professors were like her. She is there for you, gives out plenty of extra credit and 3 attempts if not more to earn 100% with online quizzes. The final is not cumulative and lectures are interesting as long as you get involved. I've taken her for 3 psychology classes.A++
Julia is wonderful! Shes quirky and weird but that's the best thing about her. She's a great professor and has a very kind heart. The class is easy but she does check your work closely, so don't slack on your assignments.
I loved Julie! I took her Social Psych class over the summer and it was great! Very clear on what she expects. Quizzes every week but they are extremely easy and she tells you what you missed so you dont miss it again. Expect discussion boards. I was in and out in 6 weeks and it was great! Highly highly highly recommend.
Class is an easy A, BUT only if you're willing to sell your innocence. Instructor discusses topics that are vulgar and do not pertain to the lesson. I would highly discourage students from taking this professor. Although it is easy, you won't learn anything psychology related and you will everything morbid related.
Professor Rodriquez was great. I took her hybrid human development course and was very successful. She gives a study guide for every test and has really interesting lectures. Her class is super relaxed and lecture is pretty interesting. Overall would definitely recommend.
I loved this class and Julie. Her syllabus has an answer for any question you could possibly have and shes very straight forward in a positive way. Attendance is not absolutely mandatory but it is part of your grade so it is highly recommended, especially since it is only once a week and most of the time there are in-class activities worth points.
I love this professor!! She's super funny and keeps you entertained. She doesn't really care what you do in class, as long as you aren't disruptive and still participate. I got an A no problem. Just show up and try to stay on top of the online quizzes. Don't wait until the last minute or you'll be stuck taking quizzes for hours!
Prof R. was great- really nice, responded to texts/emails, was clear on the grading rubric, and taught really well. There are 2 written exams (easy! U choose the questions u want 2 answer and u write a short paragraphs for each), weekly D2L discussion ? & response, one short essay and reflection, & online HW (u had to buy it for about $80). Easy A.
I just finished cross-cultural psych with her and I loved her. She's really sweet and cares about the students outside of the classroom and is really understanding, sweet, and knowledgeable on current events. Attendance matters and making a really good effort and showing you listened to her and participated in discussions is what matters.
Julie was a really sweet, funny person. I absolutely loved her personality. I took her hybrid class so I had to be there for 3 hours but she got me through it. The work isn't really hard but it's time-consuming(so don't put it off last minute like I did). The tests aren't hard either so if you want easy credits, take this class.
Easy work load throughout the semester for her hybrid class. Weekly discussion posts, two take-home tests, one 3-page paper. McGraw online Connect is required. She does take attendance each class and its worth a decent amount of points. Attendance is worth a lot of points.
My favorite teacher so far at folsom lake college! She wants you to succeed, no pop quizzes and gives you a study guide prior to each test! Her lectures are full of good info and she made me laugh all class long, very funny! She made college fun, i would take her class over and over!!
Great teacher, very passionate about psychology, easy going, funny, engaging.
This class was super easy, just make sure you do all of the online connect book, then you will get a guaranteed A and answer the weekly discussion questions. Seriously she is the coolest professor I have ever had; if my major wasn't science it would be psychology. SHE IS AMAZING. you will love her, take the class 100% recommend!
She is a good professor and has a lot of experience
She has a really good sense of humor and knows a lot about psychology. The class is pretty easy though.
PSYC320 is not a hard class at all, and Professor Julie makes this class even easier and more fun! Do not procrastinate with the very easy, online chapter quizzes and the online exams. I really like how Professor Julie lets us take our time to study for the exams before we take them. If you will read all of the chapters, you will pass.
great class to take if you're looking for an easy A doesn't require much work as long as you do the online quizzes, tests, and final also most of the points come from class participation/sign in sheet
Daily routine was basically shown up and listen to a lecture and talk with other students about the chapters or activities she provided. A relatively interesting class and very laid back. Shes nearly blind which makes for some funny interactions and allows you to be on your phone or doze off if you want. Easy and interesting class. light homework.
I love Julie Rodriguez. One of my favorite professors! She genuinely cares about the students. class is laid back, and we usually left early. However, she was unorganized and did not use Canvas as much as she could have but I loved the class and hope to take her classes in the future
Professor Rodriguez is an absolute sweetheart, but I found myself questioning some of her lectures. There were a few things she'd say that didn't sound right, or seemed too opinionated rather than factual. I don't feel like I learned much, which is disappointing. She takes forever to grade work, but if you're looking for an easy A this is it!
Pretty easy class. Daily routine would be to listen to her lecture, get together in groups for discussions, and all tests were online which were not proctored so it's essentially open book. Julie is really caring however, she is on the older side and is nearly blind. With the transition of covid and going online she was super unorganized.
This instructor has completely checked out... 120%. She chose to prioritize her own personal life problems rather than address her students simplest needs throughout the entirety of the semester. Communication is one way, sporadic, and contradictory. I cannot imagine FLC allowing our tax dollars to employ this level of negligence ever again.
I took her class this fall and she has not responded to one email. We had to get the school involved to have her respond to us. While I understand having family emergencies, you do not leave students unattended for 3 months of school and then drop 6 quizzes to do in a month. Easy as all on Quizlet, but you will not learn unless you want to.
DO NOT TAKE! Did not put up an accessible syllabus, never responds to emails, did not follow DSPS accommodation guidelines, assigned 6+ quizzes all due within a couple weeks of each other after not replying to one student for first 3 months of the semester. Did I learn anything? No! This was an online class, maybe she is more proficient on campus.
She had a lot of family emergencies and chose to be completely dismissive of our class. Gone for the first 3 months then said we had 3 exams, only gave us one then disappeared again. Class is now over in one week and she has not graded our exam worth 105 points or journals worth 180 and there's only 200 points in the grade book.
In this class, the professor has been absent and unavailable for any office hours. She has had many emergencies, which is fine, but it is not fine to never respond to a single student. Has barely graded anything and has not posted anything on the final even though the semester is coming to an end. She seems nice and it is sad this happened.
Because of the pandemic, this prof was never here at all for us. I get that personal issues matter but she never gave any attention to the class whatsoever. I kept getting 10/15 for discussions and it lowered my grade badly because that's all she put every time. I even reached out to find out why and never got anything back to this day.
Do NOT take an online class from this professor. Just like her reviews from 2020 say, she is completely absent. I've emailed her six times over the class, and she responded to ONE of my emails. She never posts lectures until immediately before the exam, and answers on her exam were obviously wrong, and she hasn't addressed them. Do NOT take.
Class is pretty easy to pass just show up and do the webtext.
Slow grader and doesn't answer emails but its a very easy class. If you do the work and you will get an A, and there's also extra credit offered.
Professor Rodriguez is my absolute favorite professor! She provides an unique insight into the classes she teaches and cares deeply about the success of her students. Her exams and quizzes are very lenient and are geared for reinforcing learning rather then testing wrote memorization. She inspired me to switch from Chemistry to a Psychology major!
Amazing teacher, and deserves more respect from her students. Class is easy if you pay attention and attend lectures, and she makes everything easy to digest. She tends to talk about her personal life, but honestly, it's interesting and most of the time it IS related to the lecture. Will be taking another one of her classes in the fall!
Very sweet and lovely teacher
very easy to pass. classes are enjoyable. easy work load!
Hands down the worst professor i've taken at FLC. Does not teach anything, expects you to do it all by yourself. I took it in person but it might as well been online. Doesn't clarify anything. If you want to save yourself a semester, do not take this professor I promise you
Pretty much just sits there and doesn't help you with your grade at all. Don't be surprised if you end up with a grade 3 letters off than what you expected
Took this class in person last semester and let me tell you. Literally does not do anything, your grade is up to how you're feeling. Good luck.
All I'm going to say is if you're looking to get an A in this subject, don't bother.
You are forced to sit in this class for over an hour, just to listen to this professor talk about her personal life and ex husband. You learn absolutely nothing! She buries important information deep in the syllabus and deducts points off of assignments for something that she never goes over when reviewing the syllabus. Terrible.
Very sweet lady. Tends to get off topic and rant about her personal life a bit, but you can tell she's very knowledgeable and cares about her students. Very lecture heavy class, bought the textbook and haven't used it once. Overall the class is okay. Not the worst, not the best.
This is a great and caring professor. She does yap off-topic, but that is due to someone asking a question, but she tries her best to go over the slides. overall, the workload is tolerable; it's really up to you what kind of grade you get, but you should get an A because of how easy the assignments and tests are, and she accepts late work.
Professor Rodriguez is honestly such an amazing professor. She talks about her personal life but often always connects to the lesson. Sign in sheet required for each class attended. Everything was self paced, only had to pay $50 for an interactive textbook which were all due at the end of the sem as well as journals. Very easy class to keep up with
Wonderful professor, she did talk about her personal life but it ALWAYS connected back to the lesson. The class was self paced for the most part and we met once a week. Sign up sheet required each class. Three exams all online with two essay questions each. Interactive textbook used that was $50 and all chapters due @ end of sem. Easy class overall
Arguably one of the best teacher's I'll ever have. Her intelligence and passion for this subject inspired me greatly. Her lectures are super interesting with great examples and definitions. She clearly cares for this subject and her students so I would encourage anyone to take this class! 1000/10!!!
She is a considerate professor but has a lot going on, which impacts her teaching effectiveness. Personal anecdotes are SOMETIMES relevant to the class but are more of her excuse to vent. Her lectures are fine, but the content is often limited and doesn't consistently match the topics covered in quizzes and exams.
best teacher, kind understanding. all i could ask for
Very understanding and helpful. All my tests and quizzes were online.
Incredibly easy class, incredibly weird professor. ALWAYS has something going on and will make it your problem. Can be overly graphic sexually, racist even. Forget getting through the chapter or even having office hours. Takes attendance with a sheet and occasional activity that doesn't get passed out until the end of class if she even remembers.
The lectures seem to drag on and on, and she talks a LOT about her personal life. It's so hard to actually learn. All of the quizzes and exams are online and you have several attempts making it so easy to get a good grade. Has super easy but graded activities that you do in person so you have to attend. She's a nice lady but a poor teacher.
