Don't listen to the other posts, obviously these students are slackers. I got an A in this course. She's so easy, gives class notes all tidy so you don't have to read the book .

She is a great teacher. Her notes and examples are easy, simply and self-explanatory, just make sure you go to class and are able to take notes fast. As long as you do your part she will do hers. Very helpfull and always willing to help the students.

If you like finance, take her and you will do well. She has clear notes, explains fairly clearly and is helpful for preparation before an exam.

Wow..I don't understand what all these bad reviews are for. She's a great teacher, very organized and willing to help if you go see her. Her exams are fair, so if you study you'll do fine. She's very enthusiastic about teaching and knows her material well.

Very helpful and notes are very clear. But be ready to write fast during the whole class. Practice questions coverered in class are not representative to questions in the exam.

Guys, if you got C or lower grade, doesn't mean that she is bad. BE FAIR!!!! She does everything that a good teacher needs to do. SHE IS GREAT!!!!!She gives easy examples in class just to get an idea of what she is talking about. It's so clear. But then, you and practice problems from the book.

It's a tough class. If you do the work you'll be fine. People who have a problem with her teaching style should join the real world and start acting like adults.

I don't why others give such a bad rating to her. She is very nice and approachable prof. Although, her class may not be interested to you (note taking is major part). But she does produce very helpful notes. Her exam is totally based on her note. she seems to be the major writer for the final.

Yes, she does gives lots and lots of notes but they are extremely useful and clear. She is very understanding but demanding: she expects you to know your entire course and do a summary during the final (which is like 20pg long). She prepares you very well for the exams (just attend class and study her notes, everything is there).

Best Economics Teacher ever! She explains everything with amazing clarity. Alot of notes, but you almost don't have to look at the book. Definitly take this teacher.

The class is pretty boring, a lot of notes. BUT she prepares you so well that the only thing you need to prepare for exams is go over her notes. HER NOTES ARE GOLD- if you miss a class, get them. I had a few hours to get ready for the final exam and had no problem at all only after going over her notes.

She is a sweet lady... There is a LOT of notes to take in class but the notes are helpful when it comes to the exams. The bad thing about her is your overall grade depends on 3 exams, there's no assignments to help you get a higher grade! The comm 220 class is not that easy but she makes it a little better I beleive

She gives a lot of notes. By the end of the class, you'll be tired. Still, I'd rather use her notes than the book. She explains well, but it's hard to get an A or A+ in this class. Perhaps the study guide might help.

Don't buy the book. Buy the study guide. Don't buy the online access either we didnt use it once during the semester. She has nice intentions but treats you like a 2 year old with her bonus games and chocolate, etc. Everyone failed the midterm... I would recommend though lol.

midterm averages are quite low, but if u do all the suggested q's in the txtbk and study guide and understand them, then you should do quite well! (she sometimes reuses those q's word for word) notetaking is VERY annoying, but all the important info is there... so tough it out! She is the CC, so her sections are better prepared for the final

She is a very nicer person..she even brings her students chocolate and snacks before the exam..however her final exam was very difficult even if you do every text book exercise and study guide problem the final was still very hard.

She's great! Her notes are so complete that you don't even have to read the book. Just make sure you print them before class. For the exams, practice her in-class exercises and the STUDY GUIDE, not the problems in the text book, they are way too hard. She likes those who come to class + attendance counts. Bonus question - spell her name correctly!

Avg on the 1st midterm was 58%. On the 2nd it was around 60%. I think her plan is to scare the crap out of you so you study like crazy for the final, b/c the final grade distribution is actually quite good. She also gives bonus marks. More A's than in other sections. Class is torture though. Your hands will cramp up from all the furious writing.

In the test, she takes few problems from her class exercise and study guide problem. I got an A in her class by studying her notes but she is hard

She pretty much spoon feeds you the needed knowledge for the 2 midterms. She has skeleton notes made with the most important information. Do the suggested questions in the textbook & multiple choices in the study guide. They are literally copied/pasted into the midterms.

Does not prepare you properly for exams. Her notes kill hundreds of tree a year and provide little use. Talks to you like a child but good luck on the final.

Overall I think Slater prepared me well for the final but I also had to do a LOT of work on my own. 11 people got A+ in my class, so it's not impossible. I didn't really love this class but I guess Slater is alright. It could be worse. Try to get someone's notes from another semester and review them before each lecture. It will help a lot.

Very good teacher. She is a very sweet woman and tends to treat us a little like babies. She has a bonus system, which is good if you attend class. Very hard course and she explains the concepts very well. The best way to succeed is to go to class and use her notes. Do the suggested problems and ask for help if needed. A very approachable and friendly teacher. While she does have a tendency to post low midterm grades, it is not due to her teaching method but more of a lack of effort on students' parts in regards to doing the suggested problems. She reuses the textbook questions almost word for word. Does a phenomenal job giving students all the tools they need.

The course is very tough and extremely time-consuming (and pretty useless; as if micro- and macroecon were not enough), but she makes it much less painful. She really cares about students, she knows her subject super well, and she knows how to teach. A valuable asset to JMSB. Always there to help you. And she's funny, too.

Very good teacher. She is always there to answer questions, her exams are straight forward. Her class is well given. Before taking this class I saw all the comments about her and I was expecting the worse, but she is not like most of the people are saying. I truly recommend her.

My friend told me not to take her class, but I did. The midterm was straight forward ,the final was not be as well-prepared as she had done for the midterm. If you are English speakers or born here, take her class (she gives you free marks for interpretation questions (9%) of the exams). Highly recommended!

Crystal clear teaching and clearly stated expectations make for a very straightforward class- clear examples done in class and limited number of problems assigned in textbook are sufficient to get a good grade in this class, along with a good knowledge of the theory on the slides. No surprises on exams.

Straight-forward prof. She gives you all the lecture notes you need in order to succeed. Midterm and Exams do not stray from the notes - textbook useless. Goes really slow and makes sure you absolutely understand the calculations before moving on. It could have been a more interesting course, but she keeps it to the essentials.

2 MC midterms (worth 25% each) which are very fair because the questions come from past finals which are all posted in the common moodle section. She favored solving questions rather than boring us with talking. She makes her own notes with problems which simplifies stuff.

She's very clear with her lectures, and explains things slowly enough to make sure that everyone understand. There's a lot of information to learn, but if you have an interest in finance, it's a well organized and interesting course to take.

She is the sweetest - very warm! HOWEVER, the exams require lots of calculations in a short amount of time (one hour) and it's very stressful. I literally blanked out because of the time. I studied and practiced and felt confident. Then the exams came and I ran out of time. It's horrible feeling like a failure after studying and working so hard.

Really great class. Just keep up with the weekly videos and problems suggested (solutions provided) and you're golden. Prepare a formula sheet before the exam so calculations are simply plug and play. Good luck!

I can't stress enough what how much I appreciate having Professor Slater this term. Her classes are structured in a comprehensive and digestible way.( A section outline, lectures, and practice questions.) Her communication is the best i've seen at Concordia. She ensures we have all the information needed, and sets her students up for success.

This class is tough, but using tools like Unstuck AI can really help. The professor is sweet, but the exams are brutal - tight time limits for tons of complex calculations. Stay on top of the material and practice constantly, and you'll be alright.
