VERY GOOD TEACHER
She obviously cares about what shes teaching. Shes boring though. She is constantly focused on poetry, even though that's only a small part of the class. It gets annoying. Shes very straight edge when it comes to assignments. Really easy class though.
Her course syllabus and class expectations are straightforward. When it comes to late work, she'll only give you one free pass. After that, she won't accept unless negotiated in writing. She expects students to act like responsible adults and not like high schoolers. So whatever you do, stay on top of your homework and don't miss a day of class.
Dr. Gosh is a great professor She encourages you to be yourself in your writings. She answers in questions you have and gives you feedback as well as a grade. She is very keen on attendance and even gives you xtra points if you read your essays aloud in class. I was upset how some in the class were rude but that wasn't her fault.
She grades very easy. As long as you show up and complete your homework on time, it's hard to fail her classes.
I've take almost all of Julie's classes. For those that dislike her, are the students that don't think or aren't open to differnt ideas. Julie is the best teacher I've ever had, because she makes you think and apply thought to your life. I've saved many of her handouts, and I feel privileged to be taught by her.
This is my third English class with Dr. Stotz-Ghosh and she's very straightforward on class expectations and grading criteria. As long as you show up to class every day and complete the work on time, it's hard to fail her class.
Her class expectations and grading criteria is pretty straightforward. As long as you show up every day and put forth the effort, you will get an A.
I really enjoyed taking Julie's class. Her writing assignments were always interesting and there really weren't "tests", only a few pop quizzes over the reading material. She was very helpful and gave great feedback. I was so sad when the class ended.
She's very open-minded, lenient on grading, and cares about the success of her students. She's willing to work with you one-on-one if you're struggling with anything. Highly recommend her.
Take most of your English courses with Dr. Stotz-Ghosh if you're rusty on the writing mechanics and literary concepts. She makes English easy to get though without any hurdles. As long as you show up and put forth the effort, you will get an A.
Out of all the English professors I've had at KVCC, she's very lenient and willing to work with you one-on-one. All you have to do is ask.
I've already taken 3 English courses with Dr. Stotz-Ghosh. For those that don't like her, are the ones that are close-minded to learn any of the handouts she provides at the start of class. She even brings in Penera Bread bagels on the day when both the midterm and final portfolios are due and lets each person read a segment of their work.
Easiest class I've ever had! On the day when portfolios are due, she brings in fresh Panera Bread bagels of all kinds and lets each student read segments of their work. She's a must-have for an English professor! Highly recommend!
She's the most sweet, open-minded professor that I've ever had. If you take her creative writing classes, she brings in Panera Bread bagels on the day midterm and final portfolios are due, and lets each student read bits and pieces of their work.
Her grading is very lenient and straightforward. It's impossible to fail her English courses if you show up, participate, and put forth the effort. If you're looking for some easy English courses to take, take them with her. You won't regret it.
One of the easiest classes I've had at KVCC! There's no way you should fail, as long as you come to class and do what she asks. It's an easy A for the most part! She's a must-have to take for any basic English course!
If you're looking to knock all your basic English courses out of the way, take them with Dr. Stotz-Ghosh. She makes the material easy to understand and is a very easy grader. There's no right or wrong answer on the assignments. It's pretty much your opinion.
Very easy and fun class to take as an elective credit. Your overall grade is based on attendance, workshops, and the midterm and final portfolios. To add another bonus, she brings in fresh Panera Bread bagels on the day the portfolios are due.
If you're looking for some elective courses to take, take Creative Nonfiction with Dr. Stotz-Ghosh! She lets you express yourself in your work without any narrow-minded judgement. What really made this class fun was when she brought in Panera Bread bagels the day our portfolios were due. She's a must!
Although she lectures for an entire class period, she does let you pick and choose what you want to discuss in your short reading responses. Your overall grade is based on attendance, participation, 2 exams, 1 research paper, and 14 short responses. Very easy grader and easy course to take with her.
As an English major, I was surprised with how easy this course was. The workload is light, with only one research paper and 2 exams. Great professor to have for English, and accommodating too.
If I could take all of my classes with Julie, I would. She's an amazing person, and an amazing teacher. She's a credit to KVCC and they should be proud to have her.
Julie is one of the best professors I have ever had! she has opened my eyes to many different concepts and I feel that I have a better over all understanding of the world around me.
Creative Writing with Julie is an AMAZING class to take. She's the professor you always imagined you'd find in college. She's engaging, passionate, inspiring and brilliant. Hers is the class you can't wait to get to. I can't endorse her enough, she should never stop teaching.
Great Teacher. Very helpful! Has some great stories to share and has expectations of you so if you do the work and show up to class, you will be fine!
Great teacher. Can get off subject and unless you are strong in writing, you could get lost. See her after class though and she will help you until her next class comes in, if necessary. Definitely would recommend Julie, and hope to have another class with her.
She's a great teacher, really nice and interested in her students and how they do in her class.
Very helpful if you have questions. Class moved VERY slowly pretty much the entire semester. Tests are basically duplicates of homework handouts, with some numbers changed. If you have to miss class, you can easily get any missed handouts the next class period. She is very nice and sweet, and gives out bagels a lot!
Great teacher, very passionate!
Julie is a very good writer and knows a lot about writing. She is willing to help her students if they should ask for the help. She is not overly-critical and she genuinely wants her students to work to their abilities. Has a good sense of humor too.
She is not a tough grader, not if you can write. She is very critical though, but that is beneficial to writers if they want to improve.
She is incredibly fair in grading. She spends a lot of time on your work and is very willing to help you through problems you are having with her work. She actually grades pretty easy.
She is a wonderful teacher who shows her passion for her job by the dedication she puts into it. She's always available to help students in any way she can even adjusting the lesson plans if need be to stay on a subject the class may need more time with. I would gladly take her again.
Great teacher, fantastic class interactions and learning method. Highly recommend!
Julie is a terrific instructor! She really engages her students by use of class discussion. She gives you the opportunity to improve your grade through extra credit and rewrites. Would definitely recommend her to anyone in search of an English class!
Julie is a very good instructor and is always willing to help her students.
She is very passionate about writing. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to learn writing from a great teacher.
This instructor was very helpful. I enjoyed her class very much.
English was not my favorite class in high school. I must say that I learned a lot about writing. In fact, I did so well in this class, I am looking forward to taking more English classes with Julie.
Julie is a wonderful professor. She is always helpful and kind. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a teacher that cares about the students.
Julie is an amazing teacher. She's very helpful and is very flexible with due dates. Class is never boring. Do not take advantage of her kindness though!
Julie is an outstanding professor. She takes course material and applies it to real life situations. Her presentations make it easy to pay attention and follow along. She is very kind and always willing to help her students.
Julie is AWESOME! I never write these reviews, but I wanted to for this class because she is fabulous! She actually makes the subject material make sense! She has a real passion for what she teaches! Shes very prompt at answering emails and is EXTREMELY helpful! I am hoping to have her again as an instructor!
Julie is an awesome instructor!! I am sad this will be my last class with her! I took her for both Creative Writing and Creative Nonfiction and really enjoyed her class! She is super smart and really cares about the students doing well, and won't let you give up! Her lectures are interesting, and workshops are so much fun!
Great teacher! One of my favorites, and I'll definitely always remember her. She's fun, inspiring, and encouraging. She's very funny and occasionally gets off topic. The assignments are relatively easy, and they're fun for the most part.
An easy A for almost anybody if you show up every day, participate, and complete the work in a timely manner.
She was a really easy teacher. She didn't come down too hard on anything. If you tried, she would give you a good grade! Take any English class with her! You won't regret it!
Such a sweet lady and truly cares about her students. Take any English class with her if possible!
Her class expectations and grading criteria are pretty straightforward for the most part. She's willing to help out any student with revisions on their original works. Highly recommend her for any English course she teaches.
Very good English teacher and a fairly easy grader, especially if you're new to KVCC. She'll help you out with what you need to touch up on your revisions with constructive criticism. Take her if you must.
Although her lectures can be a bit of a drag at times, Julie is such a sweet lady! She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. I would highly recommend her!
I took both of her Creative Writing and Creative Nonfiction courses at KVCC and plan to take more English courses with her! If you're needing some fun courses to take, take them with her! You won't regret it!
She's one of the nicest professors I've had at KVCC by far. She wants all of her students to succeed, and as long as you try your hardest, you'll get an A!
She will forever be one of my favorite teachers at KVCC! She cares about her students and will go out of her way to help each and every one of them! I recommend her to anybody who is looking for easy courses for their first year at this school!
Take every course with Julie! She's hands on with her students and engages them in class every day! Highly recommend her to every beginner at college level!
Take every course that Julie teaches! She's amazing and will help you every step of the way!
Such an amazing teacher to have for every English course at KVCC! She's the best!
Such a nice teacher and helpful too! Highly recommend!
Julie was overall a good instructor. She has somewhat of a preoccupation with poems, and grades pretty easy, but she's intelligent, organized, and caring. If you want to earn brownie points, mention something about Robert Frost.
She is not the most interesting, but you can learn a lot from her if you pay attention and put effort. Very intelligent, and organized.
Taught me how to write. Do not take her if you are not serious about learning. Now that the class is over, she was one of the best instructors I have ever had.
You have to rise to her standards, and it pays off. Yes, she's boring, but she really cares that you do well.
Learning can be challenging. Julie was super fun and made things interesting. She always tries to help and she stands up for her students. Boring, but rewarding class. Definitely recommend her!
A few weeks into the semester I began to see the value of her brutally honest, experienced background and teaching style. The techniques I have learned through this course will be put to good use.
Wonderful instructor and class is fun. Quizzes are kinda time-consuming. Reaction papers are fun to write and re-write. Final paper is easy. Take this class. She truly cares about her students and is aware of her topics.
Awesome all the way around. Would take her again in a second.
She was one of my favorite ENG professors so far, the class was very simple, she let's you re-write papers if you do not like your grade, she's funny and a perfect ENG professor. Attendance counts toward your grade, so you have to show up but other wise what a breeze.
She is really fun and even if you are shy and don't talk much, you will feel so comfortable in her class!!
Class is extremely easy, and she will work with you to make sure you pass the class.
Very passionate about the subject she taught, and it showed through.
Awesome professor, very easy-going and flexible, and obviously enthusiastic about the subject matter. Made class fun, and even though the class was long, there wasn't much lecture component compared to discussion and other activities. Papers and exams were not that difficult if you keep up on the reading.
Julie is honestly the best English professor I have ever had. I would recommend her above the rest. She comes from a very prestigious academic background and she definitely expresses that through the class. Class was fun, and enjoyable, the papers weren't hard and for me IE someone who can't write she was encouraging and helpful 100%.
Probably the best professor I've had. The class load wasn't to bad. She is always willing to look at a paper prior to the due date. Has good constructive criticism and promotes a positive environment. I definitely recommend her.
Julie is a great professor. She is kind, helpful, smart and nice. Her quizzes are very easy, but there is a lot of reading to do. She grades easy on the essays as well. I would definitely recommend her.
Super nice lady! I loved her, not a hard grader and it ALWAYS there to help you out whenever you need it!
Julie expects you to read and analyze texts thoughtfully. If you aren't interested in doing that, you won't do well. Don't take this class if you're not looking for an easy A. Julie is very willing to work with students but approaches instruction with a high degree of professionalism. You should too.
Wonderful teacher. Dedicated and very, very smart.
Very funny and down to earth in a clumsy/awkward and endearing sort of way. She is an intelligent woman, and you will get a lot out of her lectures. Testing methods and paper grading were both straightforward.
She is very fair. She knows what she's talking about and is passionate about it. If you read the material you will like this class.
She was great. Our class discussions were wonderful.
Knows her stuff!
Very nice and easy going professor. Very caring in a motherly sort of way, especially if you talk to her outside of class like during her office hours. If you need help with any of the assignments, be sure to go to her.
If you understand the assignment and the way she grades and go to class, you will do well.
You must dedicate your life to this class. I would not skip at all, it's a lot of information that she teachers for someone to skip and still pass with a good grade. Shes very clear in what she wants.
Easy, yet fun! Also, you can write the weekly papers in 15 minutes and still get full credit. Didn't buy the textbook and it worked out fine.
Really knows her stuff and is good at breaking things down to make them more applicable to your everyday life. If you just go to class and make sure to write down all of the examples she gives you, you'll do fine.
Loved the class, great material, great professor! She is very smart and has great experience to share with the students!
If you attend class everyday and take notes, you should do fine.
Go to lectures and class is a breeze. Really helpful with group problems. Not the most interesting class.
Very good professor. She loves what she teaches. Exams are pretty easy considering you are just looking over notes.
I just loved this teacher! She's incredibly helpful and fun. She is interested in what she teaches, and knows it well, and that really engages the students more. Always friendly and in a good mood; I cannot recommend her highly enough!
She is the best professor that I have had in the English Department. Always available if you need extra help. I definitely recommend her to anyone!
Possibly the best professor I have ever had. Will go the extra mile (or ten) to help students if they need it. Even though she does give you the grade you deserve, she is generally fairly flexible.
A wonderful professor. Very willing to help. The class wasn't overly difficult, being that it was a 100 level class, even so, any difficulties are explained clearly. She made the class, that I wasn't overly ecstatic about, worth going to. I would recommend.
is an awesome prof! She is smart and interesting and a great teacher. Take her and you won't be sorry. But be prepared because she gives you the grade that you earn.
Don't buy the textbook, you don't need it. Go to class and you will get an A, all you have to do is listen. Julie is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. She is such a good teacher, knows EVERYTHING there is to know about English. Take this class if you can get into it!
Easy class, attending class is not mandatory but it is helpful if you want to pass with a nice grade. Notes are easy, she is pretty understandable. Some interesting lectures.
Dr. Stotz is a great teacher and knows what she is talking about. However, she was unorganized at times and gives insanely long tests, like 13 essay questions long, that take the entire class and then some. Attendance and participation is 20% of the class grade, so don't skip. Overall, I learned a lot and would take again.
This class was great. Very easy, but I've dabbled in the subject matter previously. Grading is easy. I'd certainly recommend her.
As a professor in her particular field she has a good level of knowledge on literature. She also claims to have knowledge in journalism, which she does, but narrow in some respects. This class was boring, but show up, pay attention, and do your work and you will be fine. I have had her twice and she lectures the whole time.
This is my 3rd class with her, as well as my 2nd writing course. She is not difficult at all but does expect you to work. Put in the effort for the class and you will be fine, as she is always there to help.
Amazing level of knowledge and interest as well as experience in the field in whick she teaches. More than willing to go the distance to ensure that you succeed. Inly asks that you be willing to put in effort and meet the proscribed standard. Overall a great teacher and person.
Julie is a great professor. Doesn't care if you make minor mistakes she looks at how much of the material you learn overall. Very helpful. Fun teacher. Gauges classroom feeling very well and tailors her lessons very well every day.
Julie is awesome, the class is easy if you do your work. If you think her class is hard, then you aren't trying hard enough.
Overall, this class is one of the most enjoyable classes. In order to get A, you must show up to workshops as well.
Julie is an awesome professor. She will go over material countless times if people are still struggling. Her lectures take what could be boring material and turn it into something interesting. She is available if you need extra help. Really wants you to succeed. Never shoves her personal opinions into her lectures. Tests are time-consuming though.
is very organized and thorough. You learn a great deal on the subject of literature just by sitting in the lectures, and her reading list is choice. I must critique her for that it may be difficult for one to discern what type of analysis she desires; additionally, if you require further assistance she is helpful.
She's a nice woman and she is highly intelligent (not to mention a great speaker), but she is also very dry and her classes drag on. If you are busy, do not take her classes as she expects 100% of your time to be directed to her reading and analyzing assignments.
She was fair and I found her class incredibly interesting. The reading can be a little dull, but it's not awful, and she goes over it. If you do your homework (there's not too much) you can ace this class with no problem. Just make sure you also do a exam review before the tests. Very nice and passionate woman.
One of the smartest people i have ever met. Class was fun and very interesting, had to write a 250 word paper once a day.
nteresting class, but to get a good grade you need to put some effort in. With that said, this is what a 200 level college course should be like. Assignments will boost your grade if you take the time to do well and tests are all essay, so you need to really know your stuff. Taking her again next semester and would recommend her to anyone.
She's a good professor. She doesn't like electronics in class. Attend class, she writes all class material out by hand. Asked questions sometimes and short in-class worksheets once in a while. Not a hard class if you actually study. Uses book in class as reference sometimes but you do need it.
Julie is a great professor who teaches very structured and interesting classes. Took Creative Writing with her and it was a great experience. She's extremely helpful and always makes time for students.
Great professor, helpful in office hours.
Very easy teacher. Subject was also easy. You do learn a little bit about writing but overall, it's a very easy course.
Go to class, do the work, and you will be fine.
This is a writing course, so be prepared to write! Julie was kind and gives great lectures. You will be required to read at least one of your works out loud, so get over stage-fright if you have it! Be prepared to share your materials with the class. Try to never miss a class because I did, and I fell behind! She will work with you, but try not to
I love Julie! She's truly an amazing professor. She pushes you to be great, even outside of class. She helps whenever you need her, even on the weekends. One of the best Professors at KVCC. Take her if you want to pass ENG 110.
Julie was a great teacher. One day a student began to have a full blown panic attack in the middle of her lecture... She was literally freaking out.. Julie calmly walked over and helped the girl, then focused back onto lecture within 5 minutes. She's inspirational.
Best professor I've ever taken. Julie is so kind and fun to be around. She made me love ENG 110, which is amazing. Is she tough? Absolutely. Due dates are final, critiques are tedious, but this is all because she cares about you and your grade. If you want an easy class, take her. I can't recommend her enough.
ENG 110 is not an easy class by any means. If you want above a C, definitely take Julie. She will make you work and push yourself but it will be worth it at the end of the semester. An A is very likely in ENG 110 and very possible with her!
Julie is hands down one of my favorite profs ever. She is so sweet and very passionate about her subject matter. She gives great feedback and is very helpful when it comes to the work she assigns. She is so helpful and she really made me love writing even more. Just know the class is two hours, and it feels like two hours. Every time.
Julie loves being a professor and is truly in her element when she's teaching. Not always consistent in her grading agenda, but she's a great person and I'm glad I had her as a professor
Influential, inspiring, open, kind. Not a class for learning, but personal reflection. Don't bother buying the books. You'll want to keep in touch with her throughout life.
I love Julie! It is evident that she truly cares about each and every student. While she can be a little confusing regarding assignment directions and grading expectations, she will explain if you prod her. She is fairly laid-back. She administers interesting class discussions that are definitely worth while. No doubt you will enjoy this course!
I really didn't love this class but I loved the teacher. She is nice and fair and smart. She really makes class useful and doesn't waste time with busy work. My best advice is to go to her office hours and really listen to her advice about starting papers early and putting time in early or you'll be overloaded at the end. Take it from me!
Good class and she was definitely willing to help. There are certain days when she would get frustrated with certain students or topics but was always willing to help anytime with a paper! A nice lady to get to know!
I can't imagine a better teacher for this class. Dr. Stotz-Ghosh is so helpful and nice and really cares about her students. she gives great comments on your papers and she gives them back right away. you don't need to go to office hours because she makes a point to talk to you during lab. shes great - take her!
She was very helpful and always willing to take papers on her own time to continuously read and help to revise. Not an easy course and she made it a lot easier. She was always very nice and helpful whenever I needed help . There were very few times that I had to email her because she spent time with every student while in class. Great professor!!!!
All tests are written essays. The class is so dry and boring. She assigned 8 books and you fly through every one. A lot more work than necessary for a gen-ed course. She expects everyone to participate in class discussion. A lot of reading.
JULIE EXPECTS WAY TOO MUCH OUT OF HER STUDENTS. SHE IS VERY NICE HOWEVER SHE EXPECTS WAY TOO MUCH READING IN A SORT PERIOD OF TIME AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE. I SPENT WEEKS ON A PAPER FOR HER AND GOT C...I EVEN MET WITH HER AND SHE TOLD ME IT WAS GOOD AND ALSO WENT TO THE WRITING CENTER. DON'T TAKE HER CLASS IF NOT REQUIRED TO! BELIEVE ME!
very unrealistic expectations, impossible to get a good grade.
I love this professor! I've taken two classes with her and they are classes I've actually looked forward to every week! She's interesting and makes you think. I guess some people just don't like it when they have to actually make an effort.
A great professor, you can tell she really cares about all of your work and wants to see you succeed in everything you do. Has awesome feedback on all papers written in the class.
Very strict on attendance along with plenty of reading assignments. Although there were weekly "reading responses," which were as short as two paragraphs and as long as a page, we only wrote one proper essay and one longer assignment involving finding and citing research. Exams, although essay based, are open book and very easy for the most part.
Easiest Class I have EVER taken!!!! You write a few papers, take the easiest tests..I got 100% on all of them. TAKE HER.
Julie was an awesome lady to work with! Very strict with MLA formatting and is picky about little details, but she gives you all the info for exams you need very clearly and is willing to negotiate if something seems unfair. Loves animals and is really funny and kind.
Very fun professor. Lots of activities. You must be willing to put in the additional work to revise your papers and such, she lays everything out for you but you have to work on your own to succeed. Highly recommended professor.
Really good prof, very liberal and abstract thinking. She is really nice and always willing to help. Some of the exercises in class are pointless and dumb. For the portfolios at the end she doesn't based part of the grade on your attendance like the other profs do which is nice.
She's really cool. I didn't mind going to her class at all. She's really knowledgeable too. If you ever need help with your papers, she will help you out a great deal. She would almost tell you exactly what you should right and how. I would take her again if I had to take another writing class.
Very cool prof. Her class is fun and it's easy. If you can write 3 decent papers about any topic you want, than you're set. Be able to motivate yourself, though. No one is on your case pushing you to do things. Take one of her sections, you will learn something.
Great all around teacher, very caring, and respectful.
I love her so much! She is so sweet and friendly and she is so helpful. I love how how actually cares about her students. If you want an A she will definitely try to get you there if you are willing to put in the work for it. She makes the class less dreadful to go to.
I absolutely loved having Julie. I would take her for ENG 220 all over again, it was definitely worth having an 9:30 AM to take her class. She provides great feedback on your papers and will tell you exactly what you need to do to achieve the grade you want. You can really tell that she cares about her students succeeding and is very kind.
Don't be discouraged by the easiness rating. I do not like writing, but Julie did everything in her power to help me get the best grade possible. She is very nice and is always willing to help. She gives a good amount of busy-work, but it helps. If I had to do it over again, I'd take her class every time.
Great prof. She assigns three papers which you work on throughout the semester, which I liked because some other profs assign more than three. She gives good and helpful feedback on all the essays and takes extra time to look them over if you have concerns. Don't buy the green book, you never use it, but buy the other one its helpful for citing.
I was among the low percent to get an A, and I think this teacher really made it possible. She is one of the hardest working human beings I have met, she personally read one of my papers over 3 times. Oh and don't buy the book, seriously.
She is a good professor. very easy exams, she tells you exactly what is going to be on each exam. long lectures but prepares you for the exams.
She is an inspiring professor whose feedback helped me improve my writing and literature analysis this semester. She is willing to work with you outside of class on your papers.
If you want to be challenged and expand your knowledge of English literature, take this course with her. Expect to read A LOT. You move from text to text fairly quickly. I recommend her especially to LGBTQ+ students, as she does not tolerate homo/trans/biphobia of any sort.
She loves a good discussion so speak up in class and if you're confused SAY SOMETHING. She's more than willing to help out. Would definitely take her again.
She's very knowledgeable, an excellent teacher, and extremely helpful. She's also very nice: on her own time, she helped me revise a paper that has nothing to do with her class at all.
Julie is incredibly intelligent and intriguing! I dreaded the topic of this class until she opened it up and made it interesting in so many different ways. You had to read and you have to talk. She is open to every interpretation; I think she appreciates original thoughts.
I didn't get an A but learned a ton! Discussions were interesting and seeing a production was fun. Films used were appropriate and papers were hard but she met with me and helped me work on drafts. Final is an open book/note exam. One big essay. Read the plays and you will do fine.
Very lenient on deadlines and interpretations on the readings when it comes to weekly reflections and take home essay exams (which are like research papers). Attendance is a must if you want a good grade. I missed 2-3 days in that class and still got an A. So if you really want an A, dont miss too many days!
She is definitely one of my best teachers so far. She is laid back and not forceful with information. Your work is graded on whether you've learned while taking the class or not. No weird grading curves in her class! She is honestly are real "gem" as this website puts it. I would take her for all your english classes if you could swing it.
I had Julie for 4 of my English classes! She is open to any interpretation in the readings assigned. Very nice to talk to outside of class and is definitely not arrogant, pompous, or two-faced like some of the other profs. at KVCC. I recommend her over most of the English profs. if you're rusty on the basic writing mechanics. Easy A if you show up.
This professor is can drag lectures for the whole class period most of the time, but she's very laid back and is an easy grader. The only easy thing about her classes is that your entire grade is based on attendance, weekly reflections (a minimum of one page), and 2 giant research papers (6-7 pages long for each) that weigh as much as 2 exams.
I had her for Shakespeare this past winter and it was fun taking it with her, as we got to read a lot of the same plays that we read in elementary, middle, and high school. She even let us choose what we wanted to write about (that was Shakespeare-related) for our midterm and final research papers. If you make an honest effort, you will get an A.
Attendance and turning in homework in on time is a must if you want an A. Textbooks, on the other hand, not really. I've gotten by all of her classes without them and managed to pass with all As because I looked up material that I needed online. I would recommend if you need the textbooks for whatever reason, to go to the library on campus.
I earned a B+ in this class because of my own actions. Dr. Stotz is an amazing professor and will put you in a position to get an easy A!
I got an A+ in this class and it was so easy!! As long as you come to class and do all the work it's impossible to not pass! She is very caring and is always willing to help!
Dr. Stotz is an amazing English professor. I highly recommend taking any course with her because the way her curriculum is set up will improve your writing skills as the semester goes on. Julie is a real gem and she's super sweet!
Dr. Stotz was great for Creative Writing. The class was relaxed and encouraging. With her class, you get as much out of it as you put in, and all the assignments were helpful and fun. There is something due every class period, and participation counts, but the only graded things are two revised portfolios. Awesome class!
Dont get me wrong, Julie is a very smart woman but she acts like us students should be in love with literature or poetry when in reality we are there for credit. She will go on and on repeating herself. The class is just so dull and boring and class feels like it lasts forever. I wish I could say this was a fun course, but unfortunately its not.
Julie is one of the best English professors Ive had. She makes sure everyone in class is heard and relates to students well. Her papers are easy to write and the course schedule isnt difficult to keep up with. Even if English isnt your favorite, she will set up her students for success.
She was incredibly understanding from day one. As a person with persistent depression, that goes a really long way for me. She is willing to help students who are struggling, even if it is with a prompt and not actual writing. She is an excellent professor for anyone who struggles with mental health.
Professor Julie Stotz-Ghosh is an absolute prime example of what and how a professor should be. She was (and is) incredibly helpful, respectful, caring and appreciative of her students. If I had to take more classes that she also taught, she would win over literally any professors in her vocation. Thank you and I hope you take care of yourself.
Julie is a ROCKSTAR!!! She understood when I turned in most of my assignments late and gave me full credit for them anyway. If you have a special situation (i.e depression like me), be transparent with her about what's going on and she will show you the utmost compassion and understanding. A truly caring and very knowledgable person! Love her!
She is a very good professor. She makes sure to provide very clear expectations as well as other resources and information that can be helpful for assignments. There are several opportunities for extra credit if you ask about them.
Dr. Stotz-Ghosh was a fantastic teacher! She is the head of the English department, so she really knows her stuff. The only thing I would say is to make sure you turn in assignments on time, but if there's a personal issue going she is willing to make exceptions. I already signed up to take another one of her classes because I liked her so much.
I didn't hear much from her throughout the course and feedback was mainly from peer reviews. She did give lots of advice on editing my final paper and even encouraged me to submit it for the essay contest. Overall, really great class.
Julie is such a gem. She is kind and caring and very organized. She cares about the success of her students and is passionate about what she does. Course load consists mostly of small reading assignments and short papers (1-2 pages) in response to the readings. She is a very gracious grader and overlooks small mistakes.
Professor Stotz is a caring instructor who wants students to succeed. The class has manageable assignments and she provides helpful feedback. Unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the course material.
julie was awesome. she was so sweet, you could tell she really cared about her students. class was kind of boring, but the people made it interesting. i wouldn't recommend buying the textbooks. they're not used as much as i thought they would be. borrowing or renting would be fine.
Graded on participation rather than criticizing every detail, would take again.
Really nice woman. Clear requirements for assignments. Readings and papers (obvi it's an English class.) I did not find it necessary to attend in person classes after the first few but that's me. I probably would've if the campus was closer. Interesting texts too! The class is almost all poetry so I would probably call it "Poetry" not "English 2"
