Do not take this class. This teacher seems really nervous teaching and seems to screw up a lot of the information and then expects the students to figure everything out. Going to class was a waste of time. Read the book.
This teacher has no idea what she's doing. DO NOT take her. Makes very BAD examples that aren't even right. Her quizzes are dumb and easy to get "help" on.
She really doesn't know what she is talking about.You can avoid going to class and just take the quizzes online, but it is still a little difficult. She doesn't teach you anything on the test and expects everyone to do good....bad teacher!!!
Expect to teach yourself everything. She spends a lot of time on Graphs which aren't even on the tests that much. READ THE BOOK!
Nothing she teaches is on the test. Questions come from the online quizes and the book. no need to ever go to class. in case you do, bring something to entertain yourself.
If you're taking Micro, this is the way to go.Forget what these others say.Over 1/5 of the class is Internet quizzes where you can print out with out answering 5 or 6 times, and then just look through them for the correct answer.Also, these quizzes serve as great study guides.
Has no idea what she is doing. Lectures are horrible and going to class does not help you because the test is based on online quizzes. Expects you to know it and do good. BAD TEACHER.
Excellent teacher! Explains things very well and makes sure the class understands. The internet homeworks are easy points and exams are VERY similar to book and homework problems. Helpful out side of class as well and promptly responds to emails. You can drop one exam and replace it with the final.

She is a really nice lady. She cares about her students and is a great help if you visit with her. However, she is not very clear in class. If you put the time in this class can be easy.
This class isnt bad. She cant go over everything in class-there is reading involved, this is college not preschool. She explains the diff. concepts in class and then answers questions. She gives easy quizzes online and plenty of bonus. The final will replace all of you test grades if you want it to.

Do NOT take Trivitt for MicroEconomics!!!! I was 50 points away from a C out of 10,000 and she wouldn't give it to me. Take anyone else!!!

You do have to read the chapters in the book, but if you go to class and do the quizes online you will pass the test. The majority of the questions on the test come from the quizes and practice test.

Notice everyone who is complaining is retaking this class along with data analysis haha. This was such an easy class, she gave a****load of bonus and THE TEST WAS BASED ON ONLINE QUIZZES. you could take these over and over and over again. There is a difference between having a bad teacher and failing and being a dumbass and failing
Great teacher and person. She really cares about her students' success. All of her tests are made up of questions from online study helps. Just keep up with the quizzes and do some minor studying for the test and you'll ace this class with no problem. She also tries to give some bonus.
I had her for micro. She would talk for 50 minutes about stuff completely irrelevant to the tests. One time she got into a 35 minute discussion about Gilligan and Mary-Anne. I would have had a 3.83 gpa without that class, but instead I had a 3.47, so you do the math.
She's a pretty bad teacher. She's boring and doesn't discuss what we actually need to know for the tests. I wouldn't recommend taking her!
A little flighty, but good overall. Take good notes. Lots and lots of bonus points, and offers online practice exams that you can take over and over. Take these a few times using your notes and you will do well on the exams.
Mrs. Trivitt is as helpful as any professor I've had as long as you put forth some effort in her class. Her grading system is very fair, and the curve at the end of the semester is generous. She also offers plenty of opportunities for bonus points.

She goes over things way too fast. The class test average was almost an F. She does a lousy job preparing us for tests if we're averaging a low D. And Aplia sucks: who wants to pay 30 bucks to do homework online when it could be on blackboard for free and actually pertaining to the material that MIGHT actually be on the test!?Hardest B I ever made.
Don't listen to the people who are obviosly terrible at econ and have no study skills. Ms. Trivitt has online practice tests that you can take as many times as you want and the test questions come straight from that practice test. She offers bonus opps and is very helpful and easy to meet with for help. I would highly recommend her A++++
Not that hard. I rarely read the book. Just went to every class, did all blackboard and aplia quizzes and did practice tests online to study.
She is simply not a good teacher. Not to mention the fact that you have to pay for an online service that doesn't help you at all. Class is boring, and so is she. If at all possible, take someone else.
Well, Julie is not an experienced teacher, so that means she is not a great teacher at all. I've took Macroeconomic before, and I'm making bad grade in that class b/c her tests are way different from what each student would expect. GUESS what we have took 3 tests already and the average of the class is 'F' in all of them.. Make your own judegment.
Do not take her! She is boring! Her tests and notes do not go together. This is the worse teacher I have had so far!
TERRIBLE! It's best *not* to go to class and just keep up with reading the chapters outside of class. You'll benefit more that way. Besides, she's a ****. Ohh and she'll accuse you of cheating no matter what you do!!!
Take/study the practice exams more than once. They help more than anything. Sometimes its good to read the book. Her notes dont help that much b/c there sometimes confusing. Gives generous bonus points sometimes. Start out doing good on the Aplia and Blackboard quizzes. Go to the tutor for help on Aplia, if needed. Test are worth wayyyy too much.
Do not take this class whatsoever. Trivett is the worst WCOB teacher I have ever had. Her notes dont go with the test. She knows the material but she cant explain well at all. Do good on the online quizzes and learn the material yourself. I have no idea why she teaches this class. Avoid her at all costs!!
Do not take her or think about taking her, she is horrible. Very boring and should really start thinking about a different job then teaching. When half the class drops it and the class ave. is still a D, is a great reflection of her.
A terrible teacher. She knows her field well, but cannot teach it. Tests have little to nothing to do with what is taught in class and only having three is dangerous to your grade! Avoid this teacher at all costs.
As long as you show interest in the class (go to class, do blackboard/aplia), you will be fine. Study the practice tests on blackboard. The curve at the end will help a lot.

Go to class. Do the APLIA and do it well. She may be kind of boring at times, but it's really a pretty boring subject. She's a really nice lady. The final replaces any and all lower test scores which is HUGE. Don't let lazy people deter you from taking her class it's not that bad.

all of these idiots that say to not take her are failing because they don't go to class or do sudoku puzzles. If you study the practice tests and read the book its an VERY EASY A!! We are in college and the subject is economics. What do you expect, a walk in the park? These other guys are just pissed because they have to take it again.
This is the first and only business class I have to take. I was very impressed with her and really enjoyed the class! The material was a little tough at times, but she did a good job of explaining it.
Did not enjoy it at all, i didn't fail (thank God!!) But I feel like she didn't do a good job explaining the stuff. She really does want her students to pass but she won't make it easy!!
the class is hard enough without this teacher. Half the class is failing, and she just seems to get irritated at students, and doesn't seem to think maybe its the tests not the students. she confuses more then she helps. she knows her stuff but has trouble slowing down to make sure we understand. she has hard time relating to students.
Terrible professor, She gets annoyed at the students when they don't understand. And stares blankly at you when you ask for help in her office hours. She also was giving out HW answers in class and when she found people writing them down gave zeros even to people who didn't cheat. Very petty lady. AVOID
This class is hard and there are small assignments meant to help your grade..she will take points off on every single assignment you do which adds up (even if they are COMPLETION assignments she will take off for something) Does not prepare you for tests. Worst teacher I have ever had. Didn't feel prepared for any of the tests or the final and I never missed the class. Reviews are nothing like the tests and she makes the test right before it's given so she doesn't even know what's going to be on it. If you can avoid taking it with her, take it with ANYONE else. I'm an A student and almost failed.
Without a doubt the most inept teacher I have ever had. Handed out zeros after she realized the class would do the homework in class since it wasnt due an hour until after class. Has no idea what she is doing, and doesnt care to help a student in need. very inconsistent grading as her grading assistant couldnt assign equal points among everyone.
She gives the worst responses for questions and she is hands down the worst teacher i have had including high school. I would rather have a rhino teaching me. If you think you are a know it all take this class and feel her wrath...if not don't ever take her!
She speaks concepts and expects that because she knows the information and how it works, the students will too. She asks test questions that require prior knowledge or a lot of backtracking. When test day comes, her entire class looks around to see if anyone has the material figured out, and when we flop she assumes it's our fault.

Awesome teacher who knows the material like the back of her hand. Talk to her once, and she'll strive to call you by name for the rest of the semester. Show interest in the course, and she'll show interest in you passing the class. Would definitely recommend taking her class!
Worst teacher I have ever had, i had a 3.95 GPA in highschool and this is my first C ever. She knows her material, she just can't teach it to students. Her tests are very hard. SI is more helpful than the actual class.
This teacher does not teach an effective way. If you go to class and pay attention you will most likely end up with a C or worse. Take any other teacher before you take her. I honestly feel bad for those who end up taking her for any subject.

I had Trivitt for business foundations and heard all these horrible things about her prior to taking the class. She did a better job than I expected but is far from the best. Hard class, nonetheless.
Grades with an iron fist. You can have everything correct and miss points because she doesn't give 100's.The winning Capsim team only received a B. Don't expect her to help your grade even if yor're only .045 away from your desired grade. And whatever you do, do not email her. She doesn't seem to understand that its her job to help students.
Good professor. Knows what she is talking about. It is easier to understand the class if you read the chapter before attending, as in any other class (duh!). Really helpful during office hours. Don't expect the grade to be handed out, you have to work for it (it's not high-school anymore, this is how the university works)
By far one of the worst professors I've had.... She'll assign reading and give you homework over something before she lectures over it. When you come back the following class, she'll go over the homework after you've struggled with it from not being taught about it yet. Her version of going over something is showing you that she knows how to do it.
She is not helpful, gives lots of meaningless assignments, and is not a teacher. I would highly advise finding another professor. You will lose at least 1 letter grade by taking a class with her teaching. She is a nice person but a bad professor. One of the worst that Ive had and I've taken close to 80 hours.
She is rather confusing. Not helpful at all, terrible at explaining the concepts and assumes we understand all the terms and lingo that come with the class. The tests are NOT anything like the homework. Also... excel is used for nearly everything, so be ready.

She is very intelligent which made it harder to understand material during lectures. GO TO CLASS or be hopelessly lost(she takes attendance too). Go to every SI it adds bonus points. Learn excel before this class.Tests are tricky, but the final gives you a chance to make a good grade in the class but its hard.She is receptive to helping if you TRY!
Trivitt is really smart and struggles to put the information in terms that most students will understand. There isn't a ton of material to learn, but it is tough to grasp with her teaching it (class is very boring), SI was a big help for me. The Final is hard and very heavy on the grading scale. She is very willing to help and a nice person.
In class the lectures are confusing, but SI helped clear things up which helped in class. Homework is easy points, but the tests are long and confusing sometimes. The final is worth 30% of your grade, but it replaces one of your tests if you do better on the final than you did on that test. Tests are open bookopen note, but be organized for it.
I learned a lot in this class. Sometimes it's hard but it's very manageable. People act like this class is hard but at least she doesn't expect you to know all the math theory behind statistics. She uses real-world examples on a regular basis, making the class interesting and making the material more intuitive. Very helpful during office hours.
She is honestly not the best lecturer, but she definitely knows the material and can easily explain it if you are willing to go to her office hours. If you go to class everyday she definitely knows and is more willing to help you out because of it. I loved this class so much that I'm applying to be an SI leader and will have a data analytics minor.
Dr. Trivitt really knows her stuff! While some lectures can be very confusing, if you go to her office hours she will clear up any confusion that you have. There's a small homework before each class that helps understanding and graded on participation, not right or wrong. This is not an easy class.
She's a very nice lecturer but this class is really difficult. I worked hard all semester and bombed on the final. I was 15 points from just getting a C and there was nothing I could do about it now I have to retake the class. She is nice but is a terrible lecturer. She expects you to just know the information.

Took the 5 week summer class and it was very intense. The homework is super detailed and very hard, takes a lot of time to complete too. The midterm and final are hard as well. This is not an easy class at all.
I'm not a real fan of her. She's not great at lecturing and does not help much when you are confused. Almost has an attitude when you ask for help because she expects you to know the material (in which you've yet to learn).
Data Analysis online is a tough class. It might be easier in class. You can use your notes and book on the exams, but you won't pass unless you know the material. Textbook is a must, you constantly use the z-tables and do homework out of the book.
Thank goodness for the group projects. They're the only thing that boosts my grade, it seems. I feel that the tests aren't that hard, but I don't know what I'm doing at all. The way she works it out in class seems very confusing and I'm doing a lot of memorizing instead of focusing on WHY and the process, which is a little sad. Find a study group.
I had her for data and most of the class seemed to be struggling. Her lectures are very fast and you won't have time to write down most of the information. She expects you to know it before you come in somehow. You go through material much faster than other classes and only have 4 tests (vs 7/8) and use the extra two weeks to review for the final.
julie is an excellent person and a pretty good teacher. If you took AP Statistics in high school this class will be super easy; if not, you'll have to study a lot. After semseters later, I still visit her in her office to keep her updated on myself. She is an excellent person to get a letter of recommendation from . Do not be scared of her.
Missed passing by .2pts. There was no S.I. that fit my time schedule due to class and forced to receive a 0 for that section of the class. I also asked for help multiple times in and out of class. To which the convo ended in her telling me to email students for help. Tests/Avg Grd 1 easy/A 2 hardest/F 3 hard/C 4 comprehensive/C
The tests are open book and open note but that doesn't make it the slightest bit easy. She teaches things that the other professors do not so it is useless. She expects you know things automatically instead of learn it gradually. Her tests are tough and you should always expect lots of work. Do not skip class, clicker points everyday.
Dr. Trivitt is very knowledgable and excited about data analysis, but she teaches WAY over your head. She flies through the power points and stresses the importance of long equations that are not even necessary.

You can tell this is a professor that cares about her students, and at the U of A, that's hard to find. As long as you showed up to class and paid attention through out and took notes as she is teaching, you will do fine. If you're a student that is constantly on their phone or day dreaming, you will fail.

She jumps straight into these accounting concepts and someone in class will ask her a question and she acts like we are stupid when we are just trying to understand what the heck is happening in class. Don't recommend her for ANY class. I had her for B Found and she is the absolute worst. She does not care about her students, and she is very demeaning in her e-mails, or when asked a question. You will never know your grade, if you do you have to go to her office hours, but she is is only available after the drop date. JUST DON'T.
The class average for all 3 of her tests are failing. She blames it on attendance, called everyone stupid for not knowing one of her dumb test questions, and every email you send to her asking a question -any question- will merit a sarcastic response. She even gave herself a nickname, "Dr.T". Never trust anyone who gives themselves a nickname.
Do NOT take her online data class. Her online lectures are awful and she does not care about helping you. Her test are also really hard. STAY AWAY!!
She doesn't give you any direction for studying for the tests except for the textbook's outline. Homework and participation (attendance), and HEAVY studying is mandatory to get a good grade. If you have the chance to take this online, or with another teacher, do it.

Very unclear grading criteria and syllabus. Very rude in office hours. Does not provide help for tests, or really anything... Did not know the test average when asked and didn't curve even when test grades were all failing. The course would have probably been easer had these issues been resolved.
No. Does not give examples. Only defines terms, but never explains how to do problems, which she will assign homework on the next day. She will give a clicker question, nearly everyone gets it wrong, and she goes on to say "Now that you all are confident working this type of problem, we can move on." Do everything you can to avoid her as a prof.
Her lessons are very hard to understand. I have friends in data classes taught by a different teacher and they seem to be doing fine while everyone in Mrs. Trivitt's class is falling behind and doesn't understand the material.
Do not take her for WOCB 1033. This is my 4th class over statistics-related material and I should be confident in it by now, but her class makes me question EVERYTHING. The way she teaches is absolutely useless and is very formula heavy. My last statistics teacher was the complete opposite of Dr. Trivitt and I got an A in that class. DO NOT TAKE!!
There is so much I could say about Julie Trivitt. First, she gives practice exams from over a decade ago so they provide virtually no help. Second, if you ever feel confident going into an exam, don't. Third, she has three degrees and she will never let you forget it. All these degrees yet cannot be bothered to answer a simple question nicely.
Do not take Trivitt. She verbally explains the material. She usually doesn't work out examples unless you ask. If you try to question her politely, she'll basically tell you "I'm right, period". HW everyday and usually not easy. Reviews before the test are not posted on BB, so don't count on that to help. And the practice exams she has? From 2005.
She knows a lot about data analysis but you won't after taking her class. Learned 10x more during my S.I.

i am an honors student i swear this class made me feel like the biggest idiot ever. Julie aka Trivitt is not cut out to be a professor... she is smart (one day even bragged about her many degrees) however she is just not cut out to teach. SAVE YOURSELF and get another prof! she assumes you know everything which isn't the case. just dont do it
Trivitt seems to know a lot about Econ but her lectures have nothing to do with the tests or home work. Read the book it helps with homework, and the test. She says she makes up the test but a lot of questions are pulled from the test review. I studied very long and hard for her tests but would only make 60%. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR MICRO.
Julie Trivitt is by far the worst professor I have ever had in my life. In fact I went out of my way to create an account on this website just to save you guys from taking her. She offers no bonus points, her lectures aren't helpful, and her tests cover 7-8 chapters per test compared to 2-3 from other professors. DO NOT TAKE HER NO MATTER WHAT.
Whatever you do stay away from professor Trivitt. She is absolutely terrible and it is just as beneficial to skip class rather than attend. What she teaches in class has never appeared on any of the exams I have taken. She is so dry when she lectures and it is so boring. She provides no help at all. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.
Barely anyone attends class because its boring. Attendance isn't taken but on a few occasions we do an activity that counts for points (75/ 1030) so go to class and take notes. Only need about an 87% to get an A. Trivitt is very knowledgeable but it is very unclear what to study for the tests. Homework questions are nothing like the test.
Dr. Trivitt is a very nice woman, but I found her course very difficult. Ultimately, I dropped her course to take it with a different instructor, and it made a world of difference. There are probably better options out there! She has homework every day, which in theory should help you learn; you just end up drowning in it if you don't understand.

The hardest class I have ever taken. She writes everything down as she is teaching, there are no slides. She goes super fast during lecture and is terrible at explaining. She is nice, but terrible at teaching. Requires 10 pt homework assignment 2/3 times a week that have nothing to do with the tests.
Terribly boring. She is not good at instructing and the power points she post online are not sufficient in covering the information. The textbook for this course is bad too, you're better off getting a regular stats book.
Nice lady willing to help but lecture/notes don't match up with the daily homework assignment. It's hard to identify what she's going to test over and she doesn't give any hints. The tests are hard, and hard to prepare for, but she often puts a curve on them. She always has a participation assignment on Fridays so don't skip Fridays.

Lectures don't match up with the hw quizzes, but it's extra points if you just do them. Her notes weren't very specific, so I recommend reading the chapter that she's going over. She doesn't help much w reviewing for test, so your'e pretty much on your own. Do every quiz, extra credit and in class assignment possible, bc it will help your grade.

Dr. Trivitt is an extremely nice lady, but she is not a good teacher. I barely passed her class and I am generally an A-B student. Be careful when taking her! Again, she may have been the nicest teacher I have taken a class with, but the hardest as she cannot really reach well.
She will not be be available for you to talk to her. For the love of your GPA do not take her. She will teach you the wrong material, lead you astray fro the tests, and if you think that the homework will help you, think again. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE. It is ridiculous that a teacher, especially a department head, could be this bad.

This class was really tough having Trivitt. She was not a pleasant to be in a room with 3 times a week. She was often rude to confused students. She's very smart, but just doesn't know how to get her pint across, specifically to students who are not experts like her. Take this class with a different teacher!
Just took Micro over the summer and, honestly, don't know what these reviews are talking about. Economics isn't automatically easy- not her fault. Clear about her grading criteria and offered multiple times to meet students outside of class. Very smart and knowledgeable and an A is def possible if you pay attention/do the work. Read the book!
I loved having Professor Trivitt for data analysis. Just make sure to ask questions if you are confused.
Avoid taking her if possible. Little to no correlation between homework, lectures, and tests. She is condescending to her students and seems to forget this is an introductory class. Tests are very hard.
Professor Trivett is a very average teacher. Much like the entire data department at the University of Arkansas. You have homework twice a week through blackboard, and the homework in no way has anything to do we her lectures. Tests are really hard. She makes the course more complicated than it needs to be. I've had to take Trivitt twice due to a personal health withdrawal the first semester, and both times have been unpleasant. She gives a ridiculous amount of homework, none of which pertains to the lecture by the way, and she has a tendency to be rude to students. If you would like to learn microeconomics or keep your GPA, then don't take her.
Test bank Homework and Test. She understands what she is talking about but does not know how to pass it on to her students. Many times she would assign an homework for material not yet cover.
Dr. Trivitt is knowledgeable about Economics, but she's terrible at teaching. She tends to rush through her lectures and her homwork and test questions tend to be very irrelevant to the material.
Nothin you learn in class will help with the test. An intro economics class should not be near as hard as what she made it. Do not take her if you want a good grade. Worst teacher at the University

don't think she was that difficult or that terrible but the homework is what I had a huge problem with. She gave two homework assignments a week on blackboard that is graded on correctness from material we learned the day of. If you go to class and pay attention, you should be able to do well on the tests and the final. Not an easy A, but possible
By far the worst teacher i've ever had, lectures and homework have nothing to do with the tests, on the bright side everyone did so bad on a test she gave a 50 point curve.
Trivett is hands down the worst mirco teacher at the University. Does not know how to teach the material. Tests and homework are nothing alike the in class exams. Do not take her.
This class was insanely hard and her tests are nothing like the homework she gives. Take another teacher if at all possible. I attended tutoring every week and my tutors couldn't even explain the way she was teaching. Not only are her tests difficult, but during class she tells us the wrong things and then refuses to acknowledge she did so.
Absolutely do not take Professor Trivitt. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. Her tests are completely opposite from what you learn and tries to trick you. She should not be qualified to teach Data Analysis. I repeat, do not take her. You will have the worst semester.
She is a nice person but is not good at getting her points across. I never understood the material well until the in class reviews before the tests. She expected us to know more than we actually did and would almost belittle us if we asked a question. I went to a review session for the final and feel like I learned more than I had all semester.
These reviews are pretty harsh for a not so bad class or professor. Yes, the lectures sometimes don't match up with the homework or tests, but she curved every single test we had in there, especially the second one. There's 5 250 point opportunities: 3 tests, final, and homework, she grades the highest 4 out of the 5 so the final is optional.
She is the worst professor i've ever had. I've always been a straight A student and I FAILED a 1,000 level course because of her. I went to every class, did my homework and studied so hard and she didn't care AT ALL. She does not explain material well or care about her students. If I could rate her a 0 I 1,000% would. AVOID!!! AVOID!!!! AVOID!!!!
Very nice lady and will work with you on homework, but there are 4 tests in a semester and it's super demanding. She doesn't ever cover everything on the test and you will always end up teaching yourself everything. She has great notes but does an awful job explaining difficult concepts. And when people seem to be struggling she kinda shrugs it off
The test is absolutely nothing from the homework/what is taught in class. I studied all of the quizzes and made a 60 on that test. Forget you plicker, yet youre in class that day? Nope still no points. On fridays all you do is play sims. Theres no learning about micro. Not a good teacher. Its not worth the tears of taking her class. Good luck.
The class isn't that difficult but she doesn't make it any better with her teaching. It's clear she understands the information but the issue is with the homework and the tests. Both are nothing like what we go over in class which is frustrating. Julie gets a bad rep because the tests and HW are different but overall i would pick another professor.
Trivitt is a great teacher! There are a good number of homeworks but she gives multiple attempts, so you should easily get a 100%. There were 3 test and the final, she drops the lowest of the grades. She is all around a good teacher and I would highly recommend! She also has fun little games and gives you prizes for them!
Julie Trivitt was one of the worst experiences of my college career. I went to every single class, did well on most of the tests and it still wasnt enough to get the grade I wanted. She does not prepare you for tests, and especially not the final. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I never bash professors but I really hope someone sees this & takes the warning.
Really cares about her students and is willing to work with them, so they can be able to do the best they can do in the class. I had her during the coronavirus outbreak, so we had to go online and having class online was a highlight of my week. She understood the craziness, offered a place to be able to learn and not think about everything going on
Dr. Trivitt is by far my favorite professor this semester. Even if you don't like data, she will work with you to help ensure you get the grade you're aiming for. She ties real world situations into her lectures and is very invested in her students well being and success. She's the best bc she's one of the only data profs that allows calculators!
I really enjoyed having Dr. Trivitt as my professor. She handled the switch to online classes very well and even sent us surveys to check up on how we were doing outside of school. It's clear that she actually cares about her students. Yes, the material of this class is difficult but I think she explains it pretty well.
Trivitt isn't a fantastic teacher. I never felt like I understood data the whole time I took her class but she was very accommodating during the switch to online. She is a caring person and will go to lengths to help you get the grade you want. If you think you're smart enough to get an A in data, you won't have an issue taking her class.
