You see crazy teachers on T.V. and think there is no teacher out there that cares that much about their students. But then you meet Julie and realize that they do exist. Her office hours are limitless(sorry Julie) but it's true. If you want to succeed in math and are willing to work take her class.

I think it would be hard to find a better teacher. I agree with the person who said all teachers should have to go to her class. She is not easy. Alot of homework and you better go to class. But she will make calculus make sense. I am at UC Berkeley right now and would not be her if not for Julie.

She is a great teacher!!! She makes Calc seems to be sooooooo easy and fun. You can use note card on test, but I personally do not think it's very helpful becuase her test is kinda hard compared to the homework problems. SHe do make you think fully on the test!!! There are only 10 or 15 homework problems everyday, which is fine for a calc class.

I loved her classes soo much that I still think about her to this day. I just graduated from College now (transferred to Davis) and she was still my favorite teacher all throughout College. Her tests are moderately hard but she teaches you so well and is so caring and so fun. I still keep in contact with her and consider her a mentor.

I took calc 1 & 2 with her. She is super nice and very helpful. She always tries her best to get studnets to understand the material. However she isn't very easy. As nice as she is, the material is very hard and her tests are very challenging. If you understand nothing you will still pass but don't expect an easy A

If there's one thing I regret is that she doesn't teach CALC-3....She's probably one of those teachers that give you everything you need to succeed. Practice problems, review sheets, homework reviews in class...you name it! However you still need to work hard because her tests are kind of tough. Overall, she's amaizing!!!

One of the best math teachers I had. She doesn't teach according to the book. She instead breaks concepts down so that are really easy to understand. HW is VERY reasonable, usually 30-45 min per assignment. 3 quizzes (18%) + 3 exams (50%) + 1 cumulative final (20%) + HW (12%) = your grade. She is always approachable and has a great sense of humor.

Super nice teacher. She explains everything clearly and the tests are not too hard; with partial credit, they are totally doable. Just try on the HW and the class is a breeze. Once you start falling behind on the HW, it's just like any other class. Oh and it helps that she teaches MATH-193 so try to take her class back to back.

Best teacher at DVC hands down. I've been thru a lot of Math (starting from Intermediate Algebra) at DVC, and she has been the best there is. Brought 193 down a level anyone could understand. Her exams/quizzes were no joke though. Prepare for them by not doing just the practice problems, but by going over your HW problems. Take her, don't miss out.

I am no Math superstar, but Mz.Walters is a God send of a Math Teacher. Her teaching style is super clear, but not only that, she's a very caring and encouraging type of teacher, and super patient with students that are not the quickest to learn. I was a little intimidated by Math 120, but Mz.Walters helped me to dispel my worries and fears.

Most spectacular teacher. Ever. I failed my first two attempts at calc, stopped taking it for too many yrs, looked up the best teacher at DVC and drove all the way to SRC for her. Worth it. Learned a lot and will forever love her. 3 tests, 3 quizzes (1 take home), 1 final, 2 projects (1 x/c), HWs not lengthy. No use book except for HW probs.

Very clear lectures. 3 quizzes (1 take home), 3 exams, and a final. Gives out practice exams which are very similar to the actual exams. Drops two of your lowest grades for homework. You definitely need to attend class for this one, but if you show up, do your homework and practice test questions, and go to math lab you will make it. I took professor Walters for Math 182 and 183. I decided to take her 192 and 193 series just for fun, because she is just that awesome. I will say it again. I took 192 and 193 for fun. Do whatever you can to get into her class. I used to like math, but professor Walters made me love math. Best teacher hands down.

If you do the homework she assigns and the practice quizzes she posts, you will get an A for sure. Definitely taking her again for Calculus II.

Professor Walters class is the class to take especially if you are not a math major. She structures her lecture and subjects well so that you would not have to go back and forth. She gives a lot of participation points, so try to answer all the questions in the exam regardless. MA192 is a difficult class for me, but she has made it so much easier.

I loved professor Walters. It was my second time taking calculus (took AP in high school), but she went through everything in such great detail and carried herself in a way that proved that she cared about you the student. A lot of teachers try to be relatable and sympathize, but Miss Walters actually does that and it's genuine.

She's in the pretty rarefied space of whip-smart, well-read teachers who are also funny and display their humanity proudly. She cares a lot and will make you a better person, just by the power of example. Strangely she audio recorded all her lectures without explanation so participation was low, however all the material is taught extremely well.

Julie Walters is the best. She explains things so nicely and organized and even the hardest concepts seem easy. She does review days before the exams and never gives an exam or quiz the first class of the week. She doesn't assign a ton of homework or grade them for correctness. If you want a good grade then the problems are your responsibility.

Cal 3 wasn't an easy subject, but it was manageable with Juile. Exams are 55% (and the final is 25%) of grade, so take each exam/quiz seriously. Go over the lecture and all homework problems before the exam, and do not miss the lecture right before the exam. This class unexpectedly became a tough class at the end. Try not to lose small points.

Shes an amazing professor! Tests can be a but harder than the practice exams but she grades very leniently. Always willing to answer any questions and is very caring and understanding. Will respond fast to any questions sent through email and will help even more in office hours. Highly recommend her!!!

I hated math, and still hate math, but professor Walters makes it easy to understand complicated concepts. She is a good teacher and usually everyone gets a good grade so please work hard because there may not be a chance to have the grade curved. She always answers questions in detail so be sure to ask questions whenever you have any difficulty. She is also very kind and honestly the only professor this semester that cared enough to tell us to relax.

Julie Walters is the most caring, sweet, understanding, and helpful woman I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Her welcoming personality is what makes it so easy to talk to her. The way that she taught us the topics was so clear and simple that I could easily understand what she was explaining. Even on Zoom! I 100% recommend you take her!!

Professor Walters is beyond amazing. She had confidence in my abilities of doing well even though it felt challenging at times. She showed a lot of caring and understanding for us as students. No required zoom meetings, everything is pre-recorded videos that are helpful. The homework is half online (MyLab and Mastering) and half through the textbook that you do on paper and scan in. There's 3 tests worth 55% of your grade and gives you a study guide for each one. There's quizzes that are 25% which are timed and you have 2 attempts.

One of the best math teachers I've ever had. Always willing to help and gives little homework. Tests are a bit hard but if you pay attention and are willing to try you will pass this class easily. I would definitely take this class again. Very chill and won't bother you if you're on your phone or working on assignments from other classes.

ONE OF THE BEST PROF EVER. not only is she spectacular at teaching math, julie is one of the most genuine humans ive ever met. if you can take her class - DO IT. she is super accessible out of class and holds office hours at math lab; incredibly helpful if you find that lectures are fast paced or if you need extra practice. one of my fav prof!!

Professor Walters is probably one of the best math professors at DVC. I had her for Trigonometry class and she goes above and beyond for her students to make sure that her students understand what she's teaching. She is so kind and patient towards her students and is such a great person to work with. I will definitely take her class again!

EXCELLENT teacher. I for one was a bit nervous for this class since it was the first bit of in-person I'd had in a while, but I fell right back into stride in her class. She had a way of making the material we learned not only clear but engaging throughout, which was good cause there was a lot to get through. Trust me, you needn't look any further.

Hands down the best professor I've ever had. She still helps her students even when they no longer have a class with her! Lectures could be early in the morning yet her personality could wake you up! She's very clear on what she expects you to know on exams and spoils you with awesome review the class before an exam. I wish she taught every class.

Calculus is a challenging class. That being said, Walters is probably the best teacher at DVC to take! She has great lectures that make me want to show up to class! She also is very lenient with her grading. She gives students every chance to succeed. (Ps. If stuck on a test make sure to ask her for help. She can be more helpful than you may think)

Prof. Walters is such an amazing teacher. She is very kind and understanding when it comes to course difficulty and workload. Professor Walters is easily one of the best professors I have ever had at DVC. She is extremely passionate about math and always provides clarification if needed. There are a total of three midterms, two quizzes and one final. There is no curve given, but she offers extra credit. Overall a pleasure to have, and you won't regret taking her.

I was a bit worried about taking this class 1.5 years after taking Calc 1, but Professor Walters made sure even the toughest material was understandable and reviewed some older concepts. All her lectures were engaging. There were 3 exams, a final exam, and homework was assigned most classes. I would highly recommend taking Professor Walters!

Best Prof at DVC without a doubt. Amazing lectures and is very approachable and friendly. If you pay attention in class and do the hw the exams are pretty easy. You will be prepared for anything that shows up, no oddball questions. Also a very generous partial credit giver. Do not be afraid to ask her questions on the exams she is VERY helpful.

I was so nervous to go back to in person class I felt so comfortable, she doesn't call randomly, she has personality & tells funny stories. She helped me understand calculus & explained why. I hate math but now I'm thinking math isn't the problem it was my past teachers 10/10 I would take it again just to have her as a teacher again.

Great personalities and very caring. She does review day the lecture before exam and also have extra credit question on the exams. Homework is manageable. Tests are a bit harder than homework so expect to practice more than just hw questions if you want an A. Definitely one of the best math prof at DVC.

An absolutely phenomenal lecturer and professor. I always looked forward to coming to class because Professor Walters made learning differential equations exciting. She knew how to answer any question that was asked with detailed explanations. Practice tests and homework are reflective of the material and she is extremely approachable. Great prof.

She's kind, helpful, and always answers questions. The lectures are very useful, so don't skip them. Exams and quizzes can be tough, but if you attend lectures, complete homeworks, and ask questions, you'll do well. Extra credit is available, so take advantage of it. She makes diff eq fun! BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Homework due every class but it is manageable and helps a lot for exams and quizzes. Exams are just a tad bit tougher than homework but nothing you haven't learned. Her practice exams are a wonderful resource and so are her office hours! She genuinely cares about her students and wants to help everyone. I would 100% take again.
