She is super nice!! Take her! Labs are so easy and you don't even turn those in. Prelabs are completion. The quizzes seem a little tough, but once you take the first one you will know what to expect. We usually were not there the whole time. The midterm was tough though.
Nicest lady ever. Doesn't collect the labs and we usually were not there the whole time. Quizzes are hard but if you take notes on the powerpoints at the beginning of class you should do fine. Midterm is super hard but final project makes up for it! Go to every class if you cant she really works to help you makeup lab
Prof Wolters is one of the nicest ladies ever. I don't like bio so I was struggling and she helped me so much! You have about 4 exams and lots of quizzes. he explains things very well but do be prepared to do some work.
Her lectures are long but you don't really need to pay attention to be honest. She gives you a review packet before the tests thats all you really need to study and the power points on line. only takes the test out of 70 when there are 75 questions. she rocks nicest lady ever. one of my favorite professors
Wolters is one of the best professors I've had since college. She's really personable and makes the lectures go smoother. I'd definitely take her class again. Not a lot of homework, but she gives quizes often that you have to study for. Tests are multiple choice, so that makes them easier.
Nicest professor at UD & very clear & lenient. Helps you to get a good foundation in cellmole. bio. Tests, quizzes, and assignments are extremely easy and only from the things mentioned in class (extra credit on each quiz, test, and end of the semester for a total of 40 points 9%). TAKE HER! Easy A, and you actually learn a lot from this course.
One of my favorite teachers I've ever had. She's so sweet, funny and genuine. I definitely recommend taking her class.
She is awesome! so funny and such a good teacher, she is super nice and helpful. Her tests are 75 questions, but she only takes them out of 70 points. So far my favorite professor at UD.
Prof. Wolters is passionate about biology and having her students succeed. It is sometimes difficult to pay attention because the class is so large, but she tries to make it engaging. I found the quizzes to be much more difficult than the exams. Takes 75 question exams out of 70 so pretty easy to do well, but definitely need to study
Definitely recommend taking Prof Wolters! She is so funny! Go to class because she is so funny and makes it interesting. The class isn't necessarily easy, but she makes it very manageable and interesting!
If you show up to class, take good notes (or even just pay attention the entire time), and study for the tests you should be good. She is always giving feedback and is always there for every student. She was like a Mom to me! Funny, caring, her class was pretty standard, but she was a great teacher to have! I also read my book a lot.
Professor Wolters is super nice and will always answers any questions you have. Going to class is important because she gives hints as to what will be on the tests and quizzes. There is a quiz each week with one bonus point on each quiz and then there are 5 bonus points on each of her tests. Her lectures are usually pretty clear.
Professor Wolters is hands-down the best professor I've ever had at UD. She is so knowledgeable and makes her lesson plans very interesting. She's also hilarious and makes the class enjoyable. Only 3 tests plus a final, and as long as you study and go over your notes, they're easy. Would recommend her to anyone, no matter the major!
Lectures are fun. Very easy class as long as you keep up with the reading. Science was never bearable before Dr. Wolters. TAKE HER
She is very enthusiastic and can tell she loves what she does. Has 4 exams covering 5 chapters, but gives you a hefty study guide well in advance to help you prepare, also holds a review session before the exam. I have her at 8 AM and she has never cancelled class. Would really recommend her, very good start to my mwf
I hate science and this is my favorite professor at UD. Clearly passionate about biology and does everything she can to make lectures and boring subjects funny and interesting. If you're looking to knock out your biology requirement and you want a class taught by someone who cares, this is your professor.
Wolters is a gem. She's a UD grad, and she acts like it. She schedules a review session the day before all of her tests and makes you a study guide. If you go to the review session you'll get an A. Her final is NOT cumulative. Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and hardly ever gives homework.
I would recommend her for basic biology. She gives homework and quizzes but they are super easy if you study. Taking notes and actually going to class will help do well on her tests. She offers so much extra credit to help boost your grade. The class can be boring sometimes but if you study a decent amount, it is an easy A.
Prof. Wolters has to be one of the sweetest profs in the Bio department! She is very understanding if you can't make class or if you need help w/ the material. She understands that some kids take her class b/c they have to, so she goes out of her way to make her classes as relevant as possible. If you need a science class, take Prof. Wolters!
I LOVE professor Wolters! This is my second time taking her and I couldn't imagine taking bio from anyone else! I am actually taking her for Bio 152 next semester. Take her!!
I will recommend Wolters until I die, SHE IS AMAZING. Quizzes are decently hard but tests are easy and worth a-lot more than the quizzes. Makes study guides and has review sessions. She does her best to make lectures relevant and she usually succeeds. You can truly tell she is passionate about what she does and for her students. TAKE IF YOU CAN!
I had professor Wolters for Bio 151 and she was amazing. She is one of my favorite teachers and is hilarious. She makes the lectures fun and is great at explaining the information. There are a lot of quizzes and they are somewhat difficult, but if you study for the quizzes, you are gold for the tests. I highly recommend.
Absolutly 100% reccomend. I have had other bio professors here and she is by far the absolute best. Great lectures and really helps you understand all the concepts without making class painful. Just do the work asked and you will pass. Solid Choice!
Professor Wolters is super nice and caring and really wants her students to succeed. She provides students with all the resources they need to succeed from review sessions/packets and powerpoints. There was a quiz or an exam almost every week but if you put in the work they were very easy and straightforward.
This class was super easy and she is very helpful! I would take hr again because she clearly cares about your success.
Great prof, really cares about you and makes the subject matter easier to understand. Study hard for the quizzes, do the review packets and you will be fine.
Super nice to me but I do know she is harsh if you don't do well on tests and go to her office hours. Love her lectures, very easy to understand and likes to talk about partying lol
Absolutely amazing person and teacher. Class can be boring most of the time but she makes it worth sitting through. Quizzes are difficult but prepare you well for the exams. Use office hours whenever you can. She will talk with you even if it isn't about the class. One of my favorite people of all time.
Professor Wolters is literally the best person in the world. Not only is her class super interesting but she has very clear lectures and definitely does a good job at making them interesting. The quizzes and tests are very presentation based so just go through and make sure you know those highlighted terms! The quizzes are difficult just study.
Prof Wolters is super caring and she will throw in some funny jokes from time to time. She really wants you to do well in her class and even afterwards. You can go to her with anything.
She is a great prof and gives great lectures but she does go very fast. If you are someone who struggles with science, prepare to watch a lot of khan academy and to do a lot of extra work to try to get a passing grade.
One of the best teachers in Dayton. Shes extremely caring. I arrived late to a quiz and an exam, and she let me take it after the class. She organized her class in Power Points, but she gives a entertaining and clear lecture. Also, she gives study guides, for every exam. Highly recommend her!
I LOVE professor Wolters. Extremely nice woman and is passionate about what she teaches. She's very understanding and cares about her students. The only complaint I have with her is she is very nit-picky on her exams. All extended response questions and if you don't have something word-for-word she will dock a few points, but gives great feedback!
Wolters is super nice and very approachable if you have any questions. She is also good at explaining things during the lecture which makes it a little more bearable to sit through. The only thing about her is that her quizzes are super hard, like a lot harder than the tests. You really have to know the material if you want to do decent on them.
I did fine but shes overrated I do not get the hype at all
Love, love, love Prof. Wolters! If you are a non-bio major definitely take her. She makes the class so interesting and explains the material clearly. So glad I decided to take her for this class!
I dont get why people say shes the best. Shes very narrow minded in the sense that she thinks everyone is a bio major with a passion for biology. Quizzes are VERY HARD and VERY SPECIFIC. Exams are easier and more general. Constantly studying for quizzes, everyday for HOURS and only got a B. She is also rude to shy people, she loves attention.
While she is a nice lady and she does seem like she has the best interests in her students her class is way too hard. Speaking from a non-science major who was forced to be in the class for other reasons, she makes her quizzes impossibly hard, tests are not easy as she claims them to be. Overall don't take her. GPA will suffer.
Nice professor and understanding if you have problems. She is very passionate about the topics in class! However, the class is difficult. Lots and lots of time needed to be dedicated towards studying. The quizzes are very hard and the tests are a little bit easier but not really. The blended class makes learning more difficult and confusing.
We had 2 due dates every week and each due date had about 1-3 hours of lecture/worksheets. For lectures, she just reads the PPs and you're not allowed to skip (or speed up) the video so it takes forever. Quizzes were also way too detailed for a CAP course. Overall, she is passionate + friendly so not terrible just not a great choice in my opinion.
Wolters is the nicest and most passionate woman. BUT DO NOT TAKE HER IF YOU ARE ON ZOOM. Theres multiple lecture videos every week and she takes points off if you havent gotten around to doing them yet. On top of that, the quizzes are so hard. They just bring down your average. To do well, you have to neglect all of your other classes. Dont do it.
Mrs. Wolters is a great professor, I didn't even try to get to know her yet she knew my name and I exchanged hellos with her outside of class. A real genuine woman. Her class is lecture heavy and I feel asleep in nearly all of them, but she still cared about me and saw that I cared for the class. She will help you out and if you study u will learn.
Professor Wolters's class was one class where I felt I actually mastered the topics rather than memorizing them. She does her best to make her lectures fun and interesting, and is a great person crazy about biology!
One of the sweetest professors ever but also the hardest class I've ever done. I did well in Bio 151 but this class is too hard. FIil-in the blank (with no word bank) quizzes every week, and hard tests. She thinks everyone has a passion for bio and gives wayyyy too much information. My friends are bio-oriented majors and agree that its too hard.
Prof Wolters is a really nice and caring teacher there's no denying that. What's difficult about the class is having to know almost everything for her fill-in the blank quizzes. Her exams are for the most part all Multiple Choice so if you're good at taking MC tests, you might do fine in this class. Otherwise, be prepared to learn everything.
Easily one of the best biology professors Ive ever had. Her quizzes and tests are definitely tough, so be attentive during lectures. Plus, theres not too much homework.
I highly recommend anyone to take professor Wolters! She is so caring and compassionate about her students and is very passionate about biology. She is by far one of my favorite professors on this campus. Tests and quizzes are tough, but you have all the material given in class or on Isidore accessible, so if you study you will do very well.
Professor Wolters is super sweet! Although her quizzes are oddly specific and hard to study for. She also takes off points for any little thing if you don't word it exactly the way she wants. So be very specific and pay attention during her lectures and you should do fine.
Professor Wolters really cares about all of her students and loves meeting with you after class and during her office hours. Bio 152 is a time investment but she makes it very interesting with lots of examples. There are weekly quizzes and 4 exams throughout the class but all material is stuff she covers in her lectures. Print out her lectures!!!
She has all written quizzes that are based off of multiple chapters. The tests require you to learn so much information in a short amount of time. She rushes the lectures, and also goes over time in class every day. Do not reccomend taking her.
Professor Wolters is not the best. She rushes through her power points and goes over time in class every class period. Quizzes and exams are over multiple chapters and quizzes are extended response and are very difficult. VERY HARD TO STUDY AND GET GOOD GRADES IN THIS CLASS. The questions she asks are HARD. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY OF YOUR CLASSES!!
Goes over time in every class even though she literally has over an hour. Rushes through lectures and spends too much time talking about irrelevant things. She's nice but her quizzes and tests are very difficult. I did not expect to struggle in this class as much as I did.
She is the worst teacher at the University of Dayton. She stresses me out every single day with so many assignments that it makes it unbearable. She takes it way to serious for a joke elective bio cap course. It is a beginner 101 level class and I feel like I DESERVE A BIO DEGREE after taking this class. There is just an absurd amount of work. Dont
She is terrible. Do not take her for any of your classes. Goes over time in class every class time, and she rushes through her power points. Quizzes are impossible, and exams are hard too. She has made me not want to be a bio major anymore. Do not take her for any of your classes!!!!
Wolters class was literally impossible. Even with studying, quizzes were difficult and hard to finish in time. Was helpful when you reached out to her but flies through power points. Crams in material way too fast.
This was an all online, asynchronous class that was focused on videos and small projects. It was easy for the most part, but in some weeks, she would pile things up and it got to be a lot if you do not stay on top of the due dates.
Really does not care if her students succeed in her class. She is very rude to others, and makes her quizzes and exams very difficult. She is also a very hard grader and she takes a long time to get grades back. I highly do NOT recommend her as a professor to anyone. If you go to office hours she still does not help.
Her 151 class is extremely fast paced and her quizzes every week are very hard. She always rushes at the end of class to cram in as much information as possible. I did not find her easy to talk to one on one, very unapproachable. Threatened to take points off exams and kick students out of class for not having their mask above their nose.
She is horrible, she does not care about any of her students. She truly wants her students to fail. Her quizzes and exams are truly impossible. DO NOT TAKE HER FOR ANY OF YOUR CLASSES.
Professor Wolter's quizzes and tests were insane. She always held the class overtime, but would also be late to class. She is vey willing to offer help, but it barely helps. She will also make you teach hard material to yourself if she doesn't have anymore time in class. She's a good person, just not a good teacher.
I had her for bio 151 and now again for 152 and this class is so extremely difficult. She moves so fast in lectures and often holds us after class ends. The quizzes are nearly impossible to get an A on. I feel like I am behind most of the time because she seems to expect us to just know all the material already. At least she is a nice person.
big mistake. she goes over class time, she can't finish the material in her powerpoint, SO much information crammed, goes SO fast, quizzes have so much information feels like I am studying for one of her exams. It is really frustrating and annoying because you end up having to study days in advance for a 10 point quiz or for any of her exams.
If you want to question your life, major, and existence, take Wolters.
Do not take this class unless you are a big STEM person. She moves through the content so fast and expects us to be reading the textbook and watching supplemental videos outside of class so I always feel behind. Nothing ever makes sense and she doesn't really stop to make sure it does for any of us. The quizzes are insanely difficult.
Would only take again because I got an A. Ton of weird interactive online hw videos. She teaches 101 basically like a 151. Her questions are so specific. She said that she would teach this class to help us in our everyday lives but I haven't really learned anything like that. Lots of extra credit, minimal effort will get you at least a B.
This class is very easy if you just do the homework. I have heard that the upper-level bio classes with her are a lot harder but bio 101 is cake. The quizzes are tough, but quizzes are only worth 15% of your whole grade and there are no tests. Also, there is a lot of extra credit. Do the work and extra credit and you will get at least an A-.
Wolters class if tough but she is a very caring person. Her quizzes are really hard and her exams are worth 60% of your grade. She is very understanding and will let you make up quizzes just prepare for a lot of work. She also is late a lot and goes over class time
Wolters class is horrible. She seems understanding but isnt at all, gave me a zero on a quiz i missed for a funeral!! in order to get even a B in this class you have to be a bio major who easily aced AP bio in highschool. her quizzes are legitimately impossible, if you want to drop a class, contemplate your major and hate school, take her :)
Wolters is by far the worst professor at UD. She shows up to class late everyday and then goes over class time. She expects you to remember/memorize a ridiculous amount of material in a short time. Goes way too into depth... not necessary. Quizzes are all written response and so hard to study for. She doesn't care about her students at all.
Bio 152 is supposed to be easier, but with wolters it is harder. I am studying for her quizzes like its an exam and her exams like it is a final. I dont know what id compare studying a final to. She seems nice but isnt that understanding. Will most likely end up working my butt off for a c-. I have been putting more effort into this than chem.
No...just no. she's a nice person outside of school, lectures are long and boring, all her quizzes are difficult for no reason. we have to do a packet that is like 10 pages FRONT AND BACK, JUST to practice for the exam. Office hours didn't help.she thinks we look forward to go home and do bio work like we dont have other classes. It's so stressful
Worst professor at UD. Only take her if you want to dedicate your life to bio and question dropping out of college. Tries to come off nice, but is extremely unhelpful and unorganized. She is late to class, goes over class time, and squeezes a ridiculous amount of material in a small amount of time. Not to mention the extreme rigor of the content.
First professor I have had a problem with. She only makes sure her lectures are filled with as much material as possible. You could know everything on the PowerPoints and study guides and fail the quizzes and exams. She expects you to print out all of the slide and take notes next to the slides every class. Don't take her if you don't need to!!!!!!
She is very unorganized and always late and always has an excuse for it. Blames students for doing things wrong even though she gives no direction and her wording on questions is very confusing. Not understanding at all. You can spend hours studying for her class and still fail. Not worth the stress, coming from a premed major who aced AP Bio
Professor Wolter's is a nice human, but a horrible professor. She's really rude in class, especially with the whole mask situation. She constantly calls kids out and embarrass them is she feels like their question is "dumb". She also talks about her family problems a lot which is very unprofessional in my opinion. The tests are like were doctors.
This class is highly stressful and more difficult than AP bio. If she chose different content I feel like it would be more interesting and bearable but she puts 50 slides for each unit and you have 4 units to fully memorize for each exam which are grueling. She tests you on things that you didn't even get to in class which I think is really unfair.
She is late to class a lot and then goes over time with little regard for students' time or if we have a class to get to. She takes a really long time to grade. The stuff you have to memorize is ridiculous and you can still fail all the exams even if you did actually memorize everything. But, she does care and loves to talk to you outside of class.
This class is harder than AP bio and awful for non-majors to have to take. The content you have to memorize is absolutely ridiculous and not relevant in real life unless you want to be a biologist, ecologist, or zoologist. You have to memorize in much depth facts about snails and worms and other random things. Exam is on 4+ units w/50 slides each.
Wolters often does not finish full chapters and still puts them on the test. She provides supplemental videos but they do not help. I have poured hours and hours into this class and never got above a 50/70 on her exams. She does not put much effort into the lectures. If you are not the best at science, reconsider your professor choice!
TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO CRY AND YOUR MENTAL HEALTH TO SUFFER. she makes me so angry. I literally hate school bc of her. My mental health has been improving before I took her. She made it much worse
quizzes and exams are impossible even if you memorize all 200 ppt slides. very nice teacher but makes her class impossible to pass. I would not take this class unless you are very interested in the most in-depth biology material ever known
She is really nice and cares about students, but she is very particular about grading and if you don't have the answer she is thinking then you are prob gonna get it wrong
Her exams are long and hard. You can study a lot and still get a C on the exam. Each week, she gives quizzes that feel like an exam. You have to study for them like you were taking an exam. The quizzes are 2-3 chapters of content and the biopics are confusing as hell. She gives little to no extra credit.
I heard shes ass and one of my friends said she gave her a 0 on a quiz when she went to a funeral. Thats crazy.
Quizzes are very difficult and often, gives no advice on how to study for them and what material is on them. Harsh grader, lots of note taking, and many videos to watch over material she does not teach.
My soul has been sucked out of my body because of this class
Wolter's class is harder than the typical biology class. To do good, you have to participate because she is definitely more lenient to those she likes. Quizzes are pretty hard but if you pay attention in class and study you can do decent and they make the tests easier. You have to put a lot of time in but she is super nice.
all of these bad comments you're reading are true. she crazy but ESPECIALLY for the last couple weeks of the semester. in the span of prepping for finals, she acts like we only have her class to take... we did two or three quizzes, two projects, 8 page front and back packet, lecture videos as if she doesnt talk enough i
she doesnt prepare you for anything, even office hours dont help... she thinks all these things are helping us study but its just stressful. u will spend so much time on her and still fail. my second time taking her and she is still making me fail. she needs to realize that she is the problem instead of blaming her students.
run...
she gave A LOT of people honor code violations bc people used online sources, but SHE never gives good enough information so do homework. i think bc it was a lot of students she should realize she was doing something wrong instead of blaming everyone else. i even tried talking to her and she never listens to students. she blames students a lot.
she has a karen haircut, definitely fits her because she's a karen fr
I use to like biology but after Wolters, I no longer even want to be in stem.
A brick wall could've taught this class better.
id rather repeat every single class ive ever taken than ever take a single class with prof wolters again. i contemplated my life while taking this class
Prof Wolters really cares about your success. You will have to work hard in this class but it pays off! I view the world differently because of what I learned in BIO 152.
AN ABSOLUTE KAREN. Probably the worst professor I have had to date. Took the class to fulfill my CAP science requirement. I'm a good student and this may be my worst grade I ever get. It's not like I don't understand the topics, it's that her questions are poorly worded. She assumes everything is students fault and the course set up is sloppily.
honestly, at this point I think her past students deserve an apology for all of the damage she has caused mentally to her students. she's a good person, but her teaching says otherwise. how she taught vs the test/exams, were very cruel. the test look nothing like the slides.
This class was weird. i don't think it was particularly difficult but I felt like Wolter's teaching style is just a little all over the place. Never really knew how to prepare each week and did a lot of different things. Class was sometimes entertaining but her lectures were not that good. If you put in a little bit of effort you can get an A.
I think she is a really cool person, but her lectures are extremely difficult to follow and she is not very great at teaching the content. I am generally good at preparing for tests, but it is hard to figure out what to even prepare for.
Quizzes are the hardest part. Suggest reading over powerpoints to study. Print out powerpoints and write notes on them. Moves quickly, there is a lot of information on Powerpoints, won't have time to write everything down. ANY THING SHE WRITES ON THE BOARD WRITE DOWN. Loves making people draw on the quizzes as well so learn how to draw everything.
Her teaching syle is not for everyone but I did well in the class. If you put in the work, its not too hard to get an A. You do have to spend a lot of time studying for the quizzes and tests however. Go to SI and study with the other people in the class and you will proabbly be okay
Dr. Wolters' class isn't easy - quizzes are tough (with fill-in-the-blank, short-answer, and/or drawing), as are the exams, and there's a ton of information covered in each lecture. She's really nice though and breaks things down very well in lectures. Take good notes and study regularly and you'll do just fine - I'd definitely recommend her class.
Wolters makes this class harder than it needs to be. She crams in material and what she can't finish she puts the rest in videos. She a nice person, but the amount of time you'll be spending on this material outside of class will be much more than what other professors give you.
This class made my semester very difficult. Exams and quizzes make up your whole grade. She would not give you many chances to help improve your grade when needed. I personally found it difficult to follow her lectures and when we were told about a quiz it was not clear what to study for. She seems like a nice person but not the best professor.
Never take her.
Wolters is really nice but honestly her class was so boring. She cares more than any of my other professors and always loves to chat after class. She knows her stuff but she goes very slow during the beginning of the unit and then tries to speed up because she can't get through everything. Overall, show up & work hard and you will be fine.
I am a biology major, but she made this my least favorite class to go to. All she does is either read off the slides or go into very specific detail about something that you don't even need to know. Some classes are hard, but you learn a lot, this class was just had and I learned nothing. Felt like she set the whole class up to fail. Don't take.
She will teach you so much material the lecture before the exam and assign 16 page packets, that you can't even finish until the day before the exam, due to not learning the material yet. Would never take this class again, a lecture will make your brain explode. As well as so much work and studying needed put into this class in order to do well.
DON'T work on assignments with people she will give honor code violation and lower grade. She is caring and funny, & decent teacher. Her lectures are boring and if you miss a day you fall behind a lot. Quizzes are very difficult. She gives extensive study review assignments which help study for test. 4 units: 2 quizzes & test. Work hard=good grade.
Wolters is a nice person but my god her class boring. She shows up no more than 2 minutes before class starts and spends the ENTIRETY of EVERY CLASS lecturing and consistently holds the class 5-10 minutes late because she starts a new topic with one minute at the end. tests have 7 buffer questions, quizzes have 2 but they make up 90% of your grade
I really liked this professor as a person, she was absolutely hilarious and very relatable. This class, however, is very difficult to do well in even after taking AP Bio in high school. Quizzes and Tests make up all of your grades for the most part. She pays a lot of attention to detail and expects you to understand small details for tests.
She is an incredible person. But I would only recommend this teacher if you have a Biology background because she is a harsh grader; the quizzes are highly challenging, and she is precise about the content. The test is 70-75 questions: the more questions, the higher the mistake. I suggest taking note if you end up with her.
It took me a while to understand her teaching/grading/test style. But once you figure out how she does her quizzes and tests, its easier to prepare for them. Go to the SI sessions, they are extremely helpful. Her lectures can put you to sleep, but do all the optional homework and review the questions on the study guide, they are all on the test
She is a really nice person but she is crazy lecture heavy. She usually shows up late ad then starts right away. She expects you to know everything before she talks about it. You have to teach yourself a lot of the info outside of class. There are 4 tests and about 8 quizzes, not a lot of assignments to help you. She words the questions tricky too.
shes sarcastic.. sometimes it questionable. she only grades tests quizzess and videos... hence the D. pay attention to what she says thats what is going to be on quizzess. go to si and spend time understanding topics. i would take her again, just using a different approach. shes strict on no computers, and wont let you take quizzess if ur late.
I honestly think that she is a really nice person, however she goes quite fast through the lectures and lectures the entire time. It seemed as though she expected you to know the information before she taught it and some of her wording is complicated. It was really tough and you have to do a lot outside of class to pass the exams and quizzes.
She really cares about her student's success and gives you everything you need to do so. Go to class because if you miss one, you miss a whole chapter or two. Really know the materials because there are two quizzes per unit. She loves to talk and get to know students. Always helpful.
I really enjoyed Professor Wolters! BIO152 is just a lecture heavy class, that is not her fault. She does a great job explaining the material and she is super friendly and available if you need extra help. She keeps the lectures interesting because she is funny and very personable. She also gives great feedback, and there is SO much extra credit.
This class is VERY lecture-heavy. It's actually only lectures. She likes to go on tangents, but she knows what she's talking about. As long as you pay attention in class and put in effort (like taking notes, extensive studying, going to SI sessions), you will succeed. The tests are difficult.
She gave great lectures! The only thing difficult about this class was the tricky wording on quizzes and tests. As long as you study outside of class you can get an A.
You either love her or you hate her. Make sure that you pay attention to anything she says or draws in class. Her quizzes are tricky, and you have to study a lot for them. Her exams are a little easier but they have a lot of content on them. I studied a lot and did fine. At the end of the day, she knows a lot and cares about her students!
If I was you I would not take this professor at all cost.
Is lecture heavy and goes kind of fast at times. There are lots of opportunities to get extra credit and partial points on quizzes, but they are all open-ended questions. The exams are all multiple choice, and the final isn't cumulative so that helped my grade a lot.
Professor Wolters is nice, but her teaching style is so confusing. Quiz/test questions will be on information we have never learned, she rambles and its hard to tell what information needs to be noted, and is very unforgiving when it comes to most things. Quizzes are frequent and extremely difficult, and exams are just as hard. Avoid her if you can
She is so nice but should have stayed an expert in the field. She lectures the whole entire time and rarely explains the material. 4 tests which you have to study for a week in advance same with the quizzes. 4 unit assignments that are nearly impossible to find the information for. Do not take her if you have another option.
I have taken her for two semesters. Just get to know her. She is very kind and always ready to help her students. I think she knows every one of her student's names. Lectures are a lot but if you study and draw the diagrams you will have success on the quizzes.
You can study for an exam for two weeks straight and still not pass a single thing. Absolutely do not recommend!
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS
Lovely woman. Horrible teacher.
Wolters is clearly very knowledgeable. She covers so much material in such little time that you really need to attend classes and take good notes to absorb all the info. WRITE DOWN ANYTHING SHE PUTS ON THE WHITEBOARD because it will definitely be on a quiz. She is a very nice woman - her teaching style just isn't for everyone (I really liked her)
Do not take a class with this prof. I'm coming back 3 years later to complain about this woman. The amount of effort you put into this class will not be reflected in your grade. I genuinely do not believe this woman should be a teacher. Worst class I've ever taken in my 4 years of college.
She's a great person with a weird sense of humor but not a great teacher. She makes an already boring topic more so and doesn't make anything interesting. She assigns little homework and lots of quizzes so be ready. If you don't study you will fail.
She is a great and funny person, but her lectures are extremely wordy and boring. The quizzes are hard, and the exams are a bit easier, but you have to study for many hours outside of class to succeed. She does make that clear on the first day of class, but make sure. you actually take the advice!
If you are a non stem major and value your mental health, just don't take her. Wonderful woman but horrible teacher.
I think Professor Wolters is better than people think. She does go over time in class & her quizzes are harder than the exams. Her lectures were boring but the content came easy to me. Do the review packet and session for each unit & you should be fine for the exams. She also throws out questions on exams & quizzes which can boost your grade.
If you value having good grades then take a different professor.
Lecture-heavy class, but with helpful extra credit and partial credit opportunities. Exams are mainly multiple choice, with a non-cumulative final. unstuckstudy proved useful for efficient study prep.
Her class was impossible. The lectures were so hard to follow and the quizzes made no sense. The tests were easier than the quizzes because they are all multiple choice but are still pretty hard. I really like her as a person and she is super nice and funny - but I would recommend avoiding her class if possible.
I really enjoyed Prof. Wolters! It is evident she cares about her students, and she is really funny. The hardest part about the classes were the quizzes, but I found the exams really easy. She is strict on attendance. Make sure to write what she says during lecture down, especially what she puts on the board. Study for quizzes and you will be fine!
Professor Wolters is one of the best professors I have ever had. She truly cares about her students and their success. Her class prepared me for some of the more difficult classes at UD such as physiology. While her quizzes are difficult, they teach you how to study in college. Also, the exams are easy compared to the quizzes.
Her quizzes made me feel illiterate. Time and jam packed with oddly worded questions that took half the time to decipher. She has a passion for the subject but it feels as if she is trying to show off her knowledge rather than teach. Goes over time almost every class. Tests are worth 75% of grade. You need to spend LOTS of time outside class.
This is a hard class regardless of the professor. There is SO much content and you need to pay attention in class. Quizzes are hard but don't severely impact your grade (use as a way to study). Exams are much easier than quizzes and you get a few "free" questions. Take notes and go to SI sessions! She is friendly and will answer all questions.
Lectures can be boring at times, but you can tell she is passionate about what she teaches. Quizzes are hard, and even with two bonus points, it's hard to get an 8 or higher. They don't hurt your grade too badly, and exams aren't too difficult. All the exams have a review guide that's due the day of the exam and takes time out of class.
I will not lie, she falls behind quite often when it comes to her lectures, making it harder for the students. But she posts online videos and is very forgiving with a lot of things. The biggest downside of the class are the stupidly hard quizzes and tricky exams. However, if you want to learn bio, take her. She's an amazing teacher whos exams suck
I would recommend
Professor Wolters is an amazing professor. She is extremely passionate about what she teaches, and she is very caring. You need to make sure you stay on top of your work in this class and study HARD for these quizzes and exams. If you show up and actively listen and participate, this course is a lot of fun.
I was initially skeptical, but I liked her as a teacher. She talks a lot and often goes overtime. Reviewing/memorizing her slides helped me the most in succeeding. Gives out review packets that take a while, but it helps in studying for her exams. Lots of quizzes that are challenging, and wording can be hard to understand. Lots of extra credit!
Hard exams and even harder quizzes. Study, study, study, READ
She is very nice but grades too harsh and the content doesn't help no matter how much you study on the exams or quizes because you could study hard then the this will ask questions of something completely different. The packets are the most useful thing but even then it's rough. Feels more liked department issue and time given to teach class.
Just a nuisance to the youth at the university of Dayton.
I thoroughly enjoyed having Julie Wolters as a teacher. She's incredibly passionate about the content, and recites most of it from memory during lectures. I would say the course content is not difficult as a whole, it's just basically all memorization. If that's what you're good at, then I totally recommend her classes! (lots of extra credit too)
When I enrolled in her class, I was nervous. I was pleasantly surprised. If something isn't on the slides, it won't be on the exam. Her personality is friendly. Often lightens the mood with humor. Grading is fair and transparent: there's plenty of extra credit. Her exams are fair and if you keep up with quizzes, you'll do well on the exams
Her quizzes are prob the hardest thing. She has these bio pick questions that make you think. You have to study outside of class (no way around that) She's pretty strict on academic integrity. You will have a syllabus quiz. Overall, don't panic! If you need help GO TO OFFICE HOURS. To add, go to bio SI; or the library n lock in.
Prof. Wolters is one of the sweetest professors out there. Despite having 200+ students, she knew almost all of us by name. Her quizzes are hard but if you study they're fine, plus there was extra credit built into every quiz. Exams are worth most of your grade but she gives you a review packet that really helps and gives you a 5 point buffer.
