Great professor and great class. Atmosphere was laid back but extremely productive. I sat back relaxed the whole time but got very good notes which were extremely helpful for both her exams and the departmental final. Take this class! Minimum stress, maximum learning.
She is a great teacher...Very laid back class and a great class to meet friends and study groups. She may pick favorites in the class, so as long as you ask questions she'll like you. Tests aren't hard if you study; but they can be a little tricky at times. Overall, great teacher.
she's really cool but my gripe is with the work...like these tests if you get on thing wrong you drop to and 80,hard to ask anyone to be perfect, then her exams were tricky but the final wasn't which led me to believe that the other classes had exams more straight-forward which i would have done well in,beware of freshmen you'll feel like highschool
Great class, nice and easy-going, two mid-terms, drop the lower one. gives extra credit, and tells u wat's gonna be on the exams. helpful and funny, recommened!
I would take her if I were you....Easy commen sence class
professors dont come any better!!!! amazing person, explains everything clear and consise. helps out if you have any questions, respects students, do your self a favior take her, espesially in the summer!!!!, you wil get an A if you have like a b- and do good on the final, she takes off the lowest of tree exams, one of the best professors in Baruch
Great techer. Someone mentioned highschool standart - tottaly agree. She explains everything you need to remember for tests and exams. Recommend!!!
she is a very relaxed teacher and makes the class interesting.but there is a downside she grades class exams and final dept exam for 50% for both. I had a 95 average for class exams and did close to and 80 on the final and dropped my grade real low. she do not give any curve it is what you get on the exams is what the grades are based on.
She is clear inclass tests are easy, after attending her class you should have a clear idea what's ging to be on it, although the final is a be.. well she does not curves or lets it easy... I got a B and from the clss my average was A which means I didn't do so well on the final... She is good I recommend...
very clear, very helpful. Tell you what to be in the mid-term (even final), so you can get a good grade if you study. The atmosphere is very good in class. Take her, you won't regret
She is so nice. She does give a extra test so you can drop the lowest. Be careful though the final is hard as hell and she didnt give that much direction. But if you ask she will give extra credit that will help alot. She will boost your grade if you do the smallest extra credit assigment.
TAKE HER! shes mad nice, she teaches carefully and she knows what she is doing, and she is really smart at it. i got a B because i failed the second test but she drops the lowest test grade of the first two, and she only gave us 2 homeworks, just to answer some questions from one chapter... so SHES EASY. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN... otherwise, your loss.
Prof. Folks is very knowledgeable. Your final grade is based entirely on exams. A 2 part midterm and the final. If you're not a good test taker I would recommend a different class. P.S. Prof. Folks is bout that.
She is very nice. Only two exams (midterm and final). Her outlines for the chapters are very helpful, so don't be lazy to copy them from the board. She doesn't give you information that you don't have to know for the exams and gives you particular topics to study. I wish all professors were as nice, helpful and able to teach the way she does.
Professor Folks made the class interesting and easy. She is extremely helpful and explains things really well. She gives concise outlines so make sure you copy those down. They will help you a lot when you study for the exams. Only one midterm and a final in her class, she gives two midterms but drops the lower one.
bottom line is this. she is the most concise and clear law teacher out there for this level. if you're a student this teacher should be your number one priority. she gives two midterms and drops the lowest!! and 1 departmental final. when it comes to material, she makes it very very clear with plenty of examples to remember the complex terminology.
She seemed pretty nice at first and gave you two chances to get a good grade. However she completely disappears after finals no matter how many emails you send her. I really thought she was a nice understand professors but she could really careless about you when her vacation is coming up.
Talks way too fast. It's hard to keep up with what she's saying. The trick is to pay attention when she says "..what this basically means is.." and "..for example.." Lots of notes to write down. She's pretty time efficient in covering everything. 50% 2 midterms and drops the lowest one. 50% department final
really great professor. made such a tedious topic fun to learn. definitely learned a lot from this class.
This woman does not reply to emails, so if you have questions, you need to corner her after class. Besides that she's great. She trims the material to the most important points and goes over the cases that will be on the exams.
she's great. took her during the summer. only gives you what's needed for the exam. very clear in class. writes everything she says on the whiteboard. copy what's there and you're good to go. exams are straight-forward. no tricky queations. no homework.
Point blank she's one of the best if not the best Law professor in Baruch. She breaks down everything and gives plenty of examples to each law. If you don't remember the law then think of the example. Its a lot of material to remember but she's VERY effective when it comes to remembering them.
Great Professor to take in the summer. Really cuts all the BS from the book and gets straight to what you need to know. Exams are very similar to the HWs. However I nvr took her in the regular semestr, may be diffrnt.
one word to describe her... excellent. This is one of the class i never want to miss. Her explanations and examples are crystal clear. She has great humor and is very helpful when you have a question about a law. Take notes and read the chapters and there would be no problem getting an A in her class.
I didn't think she was great but students in other sections said the other 1101 teachers sucked. She is VERY easy and straightforward. She gives review sessions before each exam and basically tells you exactly what will be on the test. Kinda boring in class but you'll learn something and get an easy A with little effort.
she is the best!must take notes and listen to the cases she talks in class, there will be no surprise on the final.no homework
Very helpful; problems in the textbook help a lot. She gave specific problems to study. I have a difficult language but she has a lot of patience to help.
Great! She is very nice, very down to earth, and very helpful. Gives good notes in class. Her tests are simple if you study all the material. Overall, a cool professor to have. Take her class!
One of the best Professor in Baruch. Love her teaching method; you learn without knowing that you are learning. Law is very hard but the examples she gives makes it easy for us to remember the concepts. A very Happy and Humble person. only 2 homework assignments. Don't miss any class and you'll get an easy A.
Best law professor at Baruch! don't miss her! Two midterms, she drops the lower one, 40%. 10% is the attendance. 50% the departmental final. Notes are provided, review sheets for midterm and final.
Folks is a great teacher. I rarely had to open the text book because her explanations was just THAT clear. Unfortunately, I didn't get the grade I wanted due to the 50% departmental final. But overall, she's a great teacher and very enthusiastic. Recommend to take her.
she is a really good professor but the final screwed me over too.
she is an amazing teacher that tries to help you get the highest grade. midterm, quiz, hw & attendance is 50 percent of your grade and the final is the other 50 percent. def taker her if you get a chance
Best law class ever! TAKE HER U WON'T REGRET!2midterms and a quiz, final 50%. She has an incredible way of teaching which makes it fun and easy to learn and remember.I hardly had to open the book-she is that good! Do the homework- very helpful when preparing for the tests.
Very good professor; she likes to help her students; she is explaining the material very well; she is giving chance for question to everyone. helps to protect you grade.
amazing professor take her for A
Took her in the summer. Averaged above a 100 after extra credit. If you study, you'll get an A without a doubt. She makes the material really interesting and applicable to real life.
Wonderful professor! Her classes are interesting and she made it easier for students to understand the material. Very helpful and understanding. If you study and pay attention in her class, you will pass with a high grade.
The Dept. Final Qs are more trickier then the textbook Qs and so are her exams so she prepares you for the final extremely well. Her questions have either black or white answers - no partial credit and some questions are worth 20 points! So don't even get one answer wrong it will ruin you! I got an A on the Final and Class.
Prof Folks is an amazing teacher! She explains everything clearly and is willing to spend time to help students. She gives helpful outlines with examples. She prepares you well for the final. She is also very nice and funny
Simply the best Law professor in Baruch. She uses very simple language to explain the material, and answers any questions, even the stupid ones. She gives examples to every situation, and her explanations are very clear. Even if English is your 3rd or 4th language, you WILL understand her and the material. 2 exams and a final.
Professor Folks is freaking amazing! Her teaching methods help you clearly understand the material and she is open to any questions that you may have. Definitely recommend taking her class!
she is the best!!! DEFF take her!!! easy A:)))
The best law professor anyone could ask for. Take her!!! Clear and interesting :D
Take her. She is the best professor. Even English is second language, you will understand. But you have to read the book.
Best law professor ever. Midterm, final, and a few easy assignments. Very nice and cares for all her students. Easy A.
Not sure at all why people say she's easy. I took plenty of intro courses before and got As but here her essay grading is way too harsh. Useful course but overall difficult to do well in if you get gutted by the final, which is all essays and half your grade.
A cheerful professor. I like how she teaches the class. However, on the exam, her grading system is harsh. One essay question is 20 points. Therefore, if you get that question wrong, you get 80 beside of an 100 (well the final is a different story). But take her, I think she's alright.
She's cheerful & knowledgeable. She uses real-life situations to explain concepts which helps students understand. Come on time for class. No hw, just reading chapters but read because you dont want to cram everything right before a test. It's simple information too. her grading system is a little tough but talk to her! she gives a review sheet too
All you need to do is to read the material! She is very nice, very professional and amazing as a person Professor.
She is great. I really enjoyed this course and I believe it's because of her. She is very clear focusing the important stuff, gives you examples from real life and her lectures are interesting. I took the summer session with her and there were 3 not tricky exams. recommended:)
Professor Folks sparked my interest in law by making this class so enjoyable and interesting. She gives you review sheets that really prepare you for the exams. Don't simply memorize the information in the book, understand it and you will do just fine.
2 HW assignments + 2 in class exams (drops the lowest score) + FINAL.
She is great. Clear lectures and tells you exactly what she wants. she prepares you well for the final, but her midterms which made by herself were hard. You have to read the book to understand the material and work hard to get an A. GOOD LUCK.
2 midterms and drops the lowest 1 + one final! She is definitely one of best professors I have ever had so far in college and strongly recommend you all to take her! You won't regret at all!
This Prof. is beyond amazing. Her class is so interesting and easy. Everything is very clear and she wants you to do well so she goes over review sessions in class for midterms and finals. She drops the lowest midterm! And homework is online and will be graded based on whether you did it or not, not on the grade. Shes just hilarious & best
Excellent professor! I highly recommend her!
Prof. Folks is the bomb. She is sassy and funny and will answer any questions you have in class and explain it in detail. The tests are written and can be hard if you do not fully understand how these laws work. just know the laws and their exceptions and you'll be fine
Prof. Folks is a very passionate professor. She gives two midterms and drops the lowest one, two assignments, and a final. Her lectures are clear and she gives real life examples to help clarify any confusions. Not sure if its only this semester but she did cancel class 4-5 times.
Two midterms, drop the lower grade and the Dep Final. But she will prepare you for both of them very well. If you stay focus in the class, it will be easy A. She gives examples from life to make sure everything is clear - very passionate about her job. So far, one of the best professors in Baruch
She is very clear and straight forward in what she teaches. The only way you'll fail is if you just don't pay attention. and although she teaches mostly from powerpoint, you still have to buy the text in order to do the online homework.
She is amazing! Cares for her students grades and very clear as to what she expects from us. The material can get confusing but just pay attention during lectures(they aren't boring) and ask questions. She prepared us very well for the exams and even made extra time during her office hours to help me study for the final. Definitely take her class!
She makes the subject very easy to understand. I could say that you really don't need the textbook. She explains everything in her lectures just take good notes. She gives students an opportunity to drop your lowest test grade by giving an extra optional exam.
She is nice person just like a lady next door. She gives handouts and additional info about topics. Lectures contain info which is not in the book. No homework, but practice is a good help. Hard essay questions on exams, but you can earn extra credit up to 20 points if you work for it. Pretty good curve at the end. Read the book and lectures.
She's a great professor who gives handout apart from the textbook reading you have to do, but they aren't that bad. All you have to do is understand the law material, and this class is for you.
Go over the handouts she gives before exams. Pay attention during lectures. Email her to ask questions. She's a great professor, not a hard class if you put some time into it. Summer class had no HW and a lot of extra credit.
The best professor I've ever had. The class consists of online assignments, 2 midterms (she'll take the higher grade and just count it twice), and a final. The first midterm was multiple choice and 4 essays and an extra credit essay. LAW is generally a difficult class but she makes it really easy and she prepares you well for the final.
She is a great professor. She makes it so easy to understand the concept. Highly recommended
She is very helpful. Gives review sheet before exam. If you study well, A is not hard. Class is intersting as well.
Amazing professor! Professor Folks knows how to keep the class interesting and going. VERY fair grader, gives amazing review sheets before test, very funny, helped me outside of class hours, she was caring and understanding. She was very well organized which was amazing! Was an absolute pleasure being her student! She's a real gem at Baruch. 10/10
Law is not for everyone, and it helps a lot to have a professor who can explain law terms in an easy, interesting and vivid manner. Prepare to spend a lot of time reading and do not afraid to ask questions until you really get the nuances of statutes and exceptions. I would highly recommend her.
Took the summer session and the grade was based on the midterm and final. that's it. She gave a full review sheet of everything to know for them. Great fun and practical teacher, I actually enjoyed learning law! Highly recommended.
Professor Folks is very resourceful and helpful. She gives only 2 exams and one of them is open book. She also prepares a study sheet with guaranteed 100% of the material that would be on the test within those sheets and she uses very simple, easy to relate to examples to help the students better understand the topic. I would highly recommend her.
Prof. Folks is an amazing prof. She makes the lectures easier to understand and can be humorous at times. 5 HWS, one writing assignment, 2 midterms, and a final. If you read and ask questions, you will be fine. Highly recommend!
I took her business law class this summer 2018. She is super helpful and cares very much about the class and the students. She makes sure students learn as much as possible in the best manner. She gave me advice on looking into law schools and what field of law Id want to do. Best teacher ever!
She is honestly the best law professor I have ever had even though law isn't my thing. She will provide you study guides for her exams no matter what. Also, she even provided extra credit for the people who wants to boost up their grade.
very easy class if u pay attention in class. Very inspirational, you will enjoy her lectures a lot. Also spends whole class bf the exam reviewing midterm and final. Repeats many times what will be on the exam that you will remember it without reading a book. Very organized, lots of extra points. Grades on a curve. Take her during summer! Good luck
Professor Juliet Folks is not bad. But literally all she does is read from the textbooks, and then says in other words even though it isn't necessary because the text is overly simple. Unfortunately attendance in mandatory but should not be, because you can literally read the textbook and learn the class on your own. Easy exams and quizzes.
Very nice professor. She doesn't read from the book, she follows her slides. Very knowledgeable. No surprises on exams as long as you pay attention in class as she goes over everything you have to know. 5 easy homeworks, exams are not hard. Take her. I actually learned something without being too stressed out about the exams.
One of the top professors at Baruch. She has the skills for teaching a complex subject and she is extremely organized and processional in class. She has very clear criteria for grading and is willing to work with you as long you are willing to put a bit of your time to study for the exam. 3 exams, 5 homework, and one memo.
Freaking love her and I didn't think I'd do well in law. Canceled class over the simplest things which was great but she always managed to get right back on track. She's really funny and will be willing to explain things again. Mindtap will be used for extra credit and her slides are great! if you fail her, then lord help u.
There are 2 midterm, a final, 5 homework, mindtap, and an extra credit assignment. You get credit for the homework and mindtap as long as you do it. She drops the lowest of the two midterm, and she does review for the midterm and final. Final is easy if you show up for the review and study the things on her study guide.
She is truly the best. Took her during summer and I really enjoyed her class. The lectures were great and she explains in a way that makes you understand the material. This class should be very easy if you simply read the textbook and understand it. Take her during the summer; I don't see the point of taking this during a regular semester.
Good.
Here's the deal: Professor Folks is simply amazing. She is a great professor, and she really tells you what you need to know for the exams. You can really relate to her as a normal human being, and not just see her as another professor. We only really have two midterms, a final, 5 homeworks, and some mindtap assignments. Folks is just amazing.
Folks is great. 2 Midterms(she picks 1 of the 2 with best grade). 1 final. Everything on exam will be given on a review sheet. 5 homeworks, 2 page writing assignment about real estate article. Pretty easy A. Only downside, Im not sure why she makes attendance mandatory.
I wish I had her in person! Her lectures were interesting and her assignments were easy and few (perfect combo). She offers multiple extra credits, which is amazing and her tests are straight forward. She even gives you a review sheet! Honestly, a solid choice, would retake again if she offered a class for Law & Policy minor.
Folks is goated man. I legit don't know what else to say. If you don't take her you're just making the WRONG decision.
If you have to take LAW, you BETTER take JULIET FOLKS. She is truly a legend. Got an A in the class because she literally gives you the answers to the test if you pay attention to her reviews. Absolutely missing out if you pass on having her tbh. TAKE HER NOW!
She's an attorney so she knows a lot about the subject. Her lectures are pretty easy to follow and she explains things very well. Also gives review sheets for exams and they're helpful. Only thing that was a meh is that she's a pretty tough grader when it comes to the writing assignments.
Juliet Folks was amazing. Workload was small. She held reviews for midterm and final. She is very generous with grades. She knows exactly what she is talking about. Sweet professor. There is not a single ounce of regret being in her class
Take Prof. Folks if you can!! She definitely knows what she is talking about and shows passion for law, when then makes you interested in the course. the only thing i would say is she can be a little strict when it comes to the writing assignments. as for the midterm and final, they are not bad at all and she preps you for it & posts review sheets
Professor Folks is a good Professor all around. I took her class asynchronously and the course load was very easy. 1 discussion board post every 2 weeks, 1 midterm and final, and 2 short writing assignments. The textbook for the class and the slides she posts are all you need to get an A!
The professor is very organized, nice, and knowledgeable. I had an asynchronous class. There were 7 discussion posts (you have to answer 5), 2 short writing assignments, 1 midterm, and a final. There were also 2 very helpful review sessions before exams.
Few requirements, but law, in general, is very interesting. Exams require critical thinking of concepts and laws. Class was an easy A.
Juliet Folks is really an amazing professor. She is a real gem. If you're planning on taking Business Law, you will make correct choice. Amazing lectures, great examples, and she makes your learning experience 10x better. Just make sure to go to her classes and you will understand everything much better. Writing assignments (we had 3) are easy.
GOATED
She wants everyone to succeed and does her best to make sure they do. I was extremely lucky to have her as a professor.
Professor Folks is AMAZING! Her lectures are enjoyable and very informative. She knows her stuff!
Amazing teacher!!! Doesnt give you much to do. Homeworks that arent that hard and like two three 1 page, singled spaced papers that are super easy to do. I passed the final with an 80 even though i would sometimes get distracted. Highly recommend this professor!
Amazing&Humorous Prof!! Accessible out of class via office hrs and email. 1 exam, final, and 6-7 hws(drops 2). Didn't show up most of the semester-only went to submit work&exams. Used her outlines and powerpoints for hw & midterm (90+). Sometimes use online textbook tho for hw. Gives reviews for exams and clear feedback on hw. 2 submits on writing!
She is one of the best professors I've ever had. There are two exams (final and midterm), one writing assignment, and five homework assignments. She even does review sessions before the exams. Her lectures were amazing, very informative, and precise. If you get the chance, take her because she is the best.
Class meets twice a week in person. Lectures were very informative; prof gives great examples that you can connect to the terms. 2 midterms (one was optional for those who did not do well on the first one) and 1 final. Gave great review sessions before the tests. 7 hw assignments, drops the lowest 2. One writing assignment. Loved this class.
Strict grader imo but her lectures are useful. Never bought the textbook and I still passed. 5 hws, 1 writing assignment, midterm, and a final but be on top of your hws cause she likes to take away points for little mistakes.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. She explains so well and all her lectures are interesting. Her examinations are open-book over the summer and she will accommodate you if you have any issues keeping up. Hella funny too. Please take her if you want an eazy breezy A
you actually have to work for your A. talks super low. super passionate. i got by without paying attention in class. attend the classes before midterm/final it helps a lot. she lists what will be on the test. let's you retake midterm for a better grade. cheat sheets are allowed for both. clear grading guide. for hw, she was kinda strict w grade
In terms of actually teaching, professor folks is good. However, a good teacher won't correlate to good grades. Professor Folks has difficult quizzes/tests so even if you immensely study, the chances of you receiving an A only slightly improve. Folks is unclear in her assignments and will gaslight you into thinking you're at fault when she is.
Great professor. Class consisted of quiz, midterm, final (in person) and two writing assignments, which you get two attempts for. You also get a chance to get a better grade on midterm. Cheat sheets are allowed. She gives great feedback on writing assignments to improve grade. Also does great reviews for exams. Lots of material so you have to study
She's a really good and thorough teacher. If you consistently come to class and pay attention, you honestly don't need to buy the text book. The class is very content heavy and you will need to study, but she thoroughly covers the concepts in class. Strongly recommend this class.
Participation and Attendance did not matter, lectures consists of professor reading off slides but she found a way to make the topics easier to understand by incorporating her own examples.Grade consists of two papers, midterm , quiz , and final.Textbook is not mandatory
This class was so fun. The professor makes the curriculum less overwhelming and she explains everything easily. Make sure your reference sheets for every exam is detailed and you'll be fine. The workload was very light.
Very nice professor. She has good lectures and goes over the material well. She does not give out much homework and they are short and helpful. Before the midterm and final, she gave us a list of exactly which topics to study, which was extremely helpful. Overall, an excellent professor!
Great professor. Outlines everything very well and hand feeds all the needed information. Take her if you don't want any surprises.
Professor Folks was amazing- replies to emails promptly, caring, and considerate. Take her!!!!
Solid professor who makes the concepts as simple as possible and is always quick to reply. Classes were cancelled fairly often, I think like 4-6 times this semester. That being said, the lectures are long and I found the content personally very boring. Even though she was enthusiatic it is hard to focus after so many lectures.
i took this class online, but she was very clear on what we needed to do each week, and made sure we were on track. she also gave us a second chance to do any missing assignments around the end of the semester, thank god because i forgot to do a hw assignment hehe. she's a decent grader, not too harsh
Can do all the homerwork in advance, everything online. Good teacher but this is an easy class and there are alot of good teachers for this class. Midterm and Final are very easy, she gives everything you need before the test and you can use cheat sheet. 2 "memos," both very easy and worth a lot of the grade. Pretty easy A
BEST LAW PROFESSOR IN MY OPINION. Lectures were long and boring (i fell asleep a lot) but the content wasn't that hard. She says you need to read the textbook but in my opinion the slides covered 95% of the required materials. The midterm was on paper - in-person and she offered retakes if you did bad. Final was departmental
Take her!! Lecture heavy but she makes the class entertaining/easy to understand. Only graded by 1 quiz, 2 writings and the midterm & final but she makes sure you're fully prepared for each assignment. She also canceled her 9am class a lot.
Amazing Professor! Her reviews and lectures are super helpful, outlines the criteria very clearly and does a great job in preparing you for any important exams. Overall very kind and super approachable if you need any extra help, highly recommend!
Overall, Professor Folks runs a straightforward class. The workload is manageable, and the exams are fair if you stay on top of the material. unstuck ai was a helpful study tool alongside the provided resources.
She's great and personable, she gives real stories from her time as a lawyer which makes it great to learn the material. The class itself is a little boring, but it really just depends on who you are. She's a really great option for this class though, so choose her if you can.
Super sweet professor, class was boring but mostly due to the topics. I find that as long as you read the textbook the topics are super easy to understand. Allowed cheat sheets on exams and even offered a makeup midterm if you did bad. She also graded based on what she believed she taught well in class. DEF take her class.
Midterm, final, 1 hw, 2 writing assignment. She explains things in simpler terms & studying her slides are enough to get good grades. She takes attendance but doesn't count 'em. Hard copy assignment was due in person but I had a knee pain so emailed her the paper & she accepted it with no question. Overall, best professor for law department.
Good prof but make sure u study good for exams and quizzes as it makes up like 85% of your grade
I barely attended class but just showing up here and there and reading her slides, plus studying her study guides I was able to pass midterm and final with 70+ grades, the topics are really not complicated when you pay attention to her and study here and there, would def take her again.
Easy grader. Topics are easy to understand. One midterm, one essay, one quiz, and the final which is only 6 questions. She is very good at explaining but doesn't go beyond the basics. Make sure you ask clarifying questions during the exams because she can make mistakes and which question is worth A LOT of points.
