What an awesome teacher! Super passionate about her job, and tries to make the material as interesting as possible. A+ effort for her first year of teaching
I took her for a Hybrid class only met on thrs, she will help you for anything you need during her office hours. She is really passionate about teaching and makes lectures amazingly clear to understand. 10 short essay the more you write the better score u get through moodle not hard at all(trust me)written exams supper easy if you do the study guide
She is an amazing teacher. She really cares about what she is lecturing on. I would totally take another class with her. Such a sweetheart and cares about her students. I almost dropped the class after hearing that we had to write an essay every week but they are super easy. Listen to her lectures and you do not have to do the reading. Great teach
Excellent Professor! It was a pleasure taking her class. She made her lectures interesting and it was clear she loves what she does.
A LOT of reading, in-class essays presentation. Shes very nice but her teaching style sucks. Too much work for a GE class
Best professor at CSUN. Highly recommend taking a class with her, you'll love it.
One of the best professors at CSUN I've had so far! She is so hyped about her teaching material and it shows in her detailed lectures. Reading is mandatory but most of her lectures cover the main material so take really good notes! You won't regret taking her because her class is very interesting. :D
Very nice person. Gives feedback on your papers when you want it, even before you turn it for grading. Is very enthusiastic about her course material. Makes her classes interesting and knows her stuff. There is a bunch of essays and quizzes to do, but when you put effort in it, you will get a good grade. Usually 3 Extra Credit available.
Great Professor. She gets to the point in lectures. Reading & essays every week but its fairly short & easy. Attendance matters. No tests, only quizzes. She makes the reading and lectures interesting. Make sure to turn in everything on time and you'll do great.
First of all, she's hot. Now onto the course: quizzes and 5 paragraph short essays every single week. The essays can be churned out easily with one reading of the (short) chapters. Quizzesessays are online, she's fun and friendly (and hot), and she is hot. Did I mention she's hot?
She is well informed and educated. Gives 3 extra credit assignments. She only gives online quizzes. She made art history interesting. She loves teaching art history, you can tell by the way she joyfully teaches class everyday. Always available for office hours. Take her!!! Do all her work and you will pass fasho :D BEST PROFESSOR EVER
Super knowledgable about art, I learned a lot. She covers a lot in a little amount of time. Some of the chapters are super long and it sucks. Her essays are tough but she helps you a lot if you finish it 2+ days before its due and send it to her to look over. She'll tell you exactly what to fix to get an "A". Attend every class. no midtermfinal
Professor Moss is amazing. Took two art history courses, her class was the best! She's very enthusiastic, nice, and its clear that she loves art! I definitely learned a lot from her class. Yes, weekly readings can be long but only 6 simple essays, with online quizzes!? Can't get better than that! :) Just make sure you read!
It's nice that she's enthusiastic about art, but she tends to give absolute minimal information about what is actually tested on. Never take notes in her class, it's a total waste. You will pass quizzes by just reading the chapters. Otherwise, she encourages coming into her office hours and will give feedback on essays if you send ahead of time.
AWESOME PROFESSOR! The class consists of mostly lectures and online quizzes on moodle-make sure you do the reading! She always has office hours and can help you tremendously on essays so take advantage of that. Highly recommend!
easy easy easy you have 4 writing essays in class but its easy . you do not need to study for it. she lectures in class and you write about that basically. weekly quizzes online! read the e text book for that (free textbook) she gives you the code to access the book online & one presentation which you just read your 2 page paper from your desk
Worst teacher I have ever taken. So disorganized and unclear about utterly every thing. Thought it would be an easy A, think again. Horrid class, do not recommend. She can be sweet . she doesn't do anything during the class , but if you actually want to learn DO NOT TAKE.
She gives you the code for the book. There is an essay due every other week. You will have to read the chapters (about 60 pages) to take the weekly quizes. She is not a tough grader. The research paper is not hard as long as you visit her in office hours to get feed back.
Can Easily tell that he knows what she is doing and loves it. Online quiz once a week and it correlates with her lectures. Learn great topics. As far as the essays go, as long as you try she gives you points.
(Online Hybrid: still have to show up every week.) I have never written this much for a single course, ever...I mean, out of upper division social science courses, not engineering or kinesiology or whatever. 5 essays, 1 research paper, and a LOT of credit-heavy online quizzes about the text (which was free.) But hey, if you love writing about art..
Don't take her class, there will be a lot work online even if it is holiday, it would be pretty easy to miss the online work. And you will have only one attempt to do those works.
I have mixed feelings about this class. Prof Moss is great and enthusiastic, however the Etext is where I have a huge issue. You have weekly quizzes that are based on the etext (includes multiple professor YouTube vids), and the questions are SO hard. I would read the chapter twice & take notes & still somewhow miss 1-3 questions which gave me a B
Professor Moss does her job well. She's informative and gives great feedback. There are 5 essays and one final research paper that will take up a lot of your time. Weekly quizzes are easy but a waste of time. She does take the class too seriously sometimes but at least the syllabus is clear and she sticks to her word. Lots of EC opportunities too.
Took this class thinking it would be an easy GE and it ended being one of the classes I put in the most work for. Weekly essays based on that week's topic. Weekly quizzes online (half online/half in class course). Final paper requires going to a museum, but make sure you do the rough draft and outline as it helps a lot.
In my long college career, I have never felt compelled to write a negative review until now. Professor Moss is the most condescending and rude professor Ive ever had. Papers are not graded based on writing abilities or an understanding of the material, but rather if youve followed the basic 5th grade essay format. I do not recommend her class.
The quizzes will have trick answers where two will be very similar and could potentially by right but one specific word can throw you off. I used to like learning about this but now I hate it and will not take another class like it. This class ruined it for me. Essays every other week for some reason even tho its a 100 class
She is a very organized and sweet professor. She's very clear in the beginning what assignments we will have. 5 essays (2 pages each), 12 quizzes (all online), 1 final project, and an extra credit opportunity. People complain about the quizzes because the options are similar, but if you take notes from the online textbook (free) you should be fine.
hybrid: 1) meeting once a week, attendance is taken so FREE POINTS just for being there 2)since it is writing intensive, she split it into small essays 2.5-3 pages 3) very clear on essays topics 4)weekly online quizzes (10 m.c.) EASY!, just read the chapter, usually score 8/10 5) EXTRA CREDITS so DON'T PANIC! 6) due dates are serious
Worst class ever. My boyfriend is taking the same exact course online and has no where near the amount of work load that she gives. Definitely not worth it, Ive read some of the material his class uses and it is just as interesting and thorough. She really makes her course and workload difficult for no reason.
This class has to be the most ridiculous course Ive ever taken. The txtbook was average, had to pay for it, and the online website to access it runs so slow. This isnt a class with any type of leniency or understanding from the Prof. Find another art class and save yourself the stress for absolutely no reason, they cover just as much material.
Do not take her class, she is very condescending and loves to grade papers unfairly. does not matter how good of a writer you are she will fail you with a smile.
A little work and stay on top of deadlines you will get an A, this is my 2nd A with her, all posted from 1st day use her examples as a guide, gives extra credit. highly recommended & very nice and easy to talk to.
The class isn't too hard, but you have to buy the textbook, which is annoying. The issue isn't the material, it is her approach. Never in my life have I been condescended to this heavily. If you at any point feel the need to object or question her, oh boy. She acts like her class is the most important, even if everyone is taking as a requirement.
Do not take this professor, her essays every two weeks are worth 10 points. She makes it 2 to 3 pages in Chicago style why?! AlsoShes not fair with her students shes tough, she will not reopen quizzes or anything that you accidentally open she obviously doesnt care
It's supposed to be an online class, yet you have an essay due every WEEK! Due every wednesday, 2-3 pages MINIMUM, must have references and a bibliography, grades it very tough. Her lectures are basically on a word doc written by her and sometimes don't have enough/no info for the essays or discussions. So much work for so little points. DUMB.
VERY SUBJECTIVE GRADER... read bad reviews b4. She doesn't provide all the resources needed to successfully get an A and doesn't want her students to do well! even if you put in the work! She assigns MANY essays without clear details and then grades based on her view that she does very poorly expressing. Answer prompts correct get a C
I know ArtHist and am used to lots of essays, this was a very difficult class due to class structure/management. The grading criteria is unclear and there is no guidance. I reached out and replies had no help, even asked why i was receiving C's on papers and she reiterated her vague feedback notes & said "your fine dont worry about it"
She provides you with the course material so you don't need to spend any money. She provides examples for the essays you'll be doing. Put in the work and meet with her with any questions and you'll get the A. She's very kind and approachable. Quizzes are based on the chapters which can be very long but interesting. She wants to help you to succeed
This course was fully online, consisted of weekly chapter readings, as well as a weekly essay. Im not sure why she has a lot of bad reviews but she is a really kind person and knows a lot about art. I met with her during her office hours and she gives really good feedback on essays so you can improve.
I've never felt the need to write a review about a professor before, but for the sake of future students, I felt responsible. VERY tough grader. Though she may seem sweet at first, as the weeks progress, she becomes condescending and mean. She isn't clear with her criteria and the only advice she gave when I reached out for help was "look it up".
Spare yourself this complete nightmare.
I feel as though Professor Moss spent more time making my life miserable then of providing assistance. She consistently appeared angry and hostile when I would seek additional help. Wish I would have read all these reviews before taking her class.
If youre not good at writing papers and you take a long time to do even one, dont take her classes. The reason I say this is you have a paper due almost every other week. She is very helpful if you know what to ask, and she does seem to genuinely care, but her demeanor might rub you the wrong way. Shes not necessarily hard, just a lot of work.
I have never really written a review about a professor. But man she takes the cake. She is so beyond rude , and belittles you when you dont get the answer right. She also doesnt do mid terms or finals. But she will make you write. If you arent a strong writer dont take her. Shell make you do a paper doesnt extend deadlines or quizzes.
OMG. Tooooo many things to do with a little points. Dude this is just a GE class, who really wants to go that deep into the Art History? It was a Biology class with the title of Art!
Professor Moss was a fairly respectable professor that showed lots of passion for art. Although her passion was appreciated, her course was far too tedious for a GE course for 3 units. Mandatory office hours were quite odd, along with the minimal feedback and tough grading received on papers. Weekly quizzes were pretty easy as well.
She seems sweet at first saying its only quizzes and essays with no midterm, however, she does not take criticism well when many students are struggling. Weekly essays with little feedback or prompt. She asked us for why many are struggling and then refused to hear out students. Why ask if you will not hear? Too much for a 100 class.
This was the worst class I have taken EVER. you have to make up 3 pages story for things that you can explain in two sentences. Analysis on something that no one cares. Boring class. Waste of time and Tuition. DON'T TAKE her CLASS.
Very hardheaded, stubborn, and silly. She's a Terrible professor all around. Do not take her class. The good reviews on this page are fake. I repeat, she is a terrible professor.
Nothing but rude. Worst experience at csun. Never felt more miserable learning in my life
overall this class was easy to follow along. You read and then every other week comes an essay. As long as you read and understand the material then the essay prompts are easy.
Man. Let me tell you firstly that she's a nice person, but the harshness in her grading kills it all. You only have a few assignments, but she grades them very harshly. The feedback she gives is very basic and unclear, often causing "I thought I already fixed that," moments. Has upsides like extra credit and a test retake, but still wasn't worth it
She assigns waaaay too many discussions and offers too little credit for them. Missing two quizzes is an automatic fail.
This professor is terrible when it comes to quizzes and papers. She doesn't give feedback on your paper, making it very vague or telling you that it's awful unless you meet her during office hours. Quiz questions are confusing as you have to read them over to figure out what they are saying. Personally, take a different professor than her.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE TOUGHEST GE COURSES YOU'LL TAKE. MASS AMOUNTS OF ESSAYS AND QUIZES EVERY WEEK. STAY AWA FROM THIS CLASS.
Overall she's a great professor, very responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable about art. HOWEVER, if you are a stem major and it takes you a long time to write a paper, even just three pages, you're better off finding another class to take. It definitely took my focus away from my other courses. Expect A LOT of writing and weird deadlines.
Professor Moss is not an easy going professor but she can sometimes be nice. There is so many essays in her class! The final is a 5-7 page essay about art. If you like art take her class but if you just need the credit find another professor! She also has quizzes every week. She does give out one extra credit quiz.
The material itself wasn't hard you could find the quiz answers online (total of 10 quizzes). Be ready to write a lot as we had to write 5 3-paragraph discussion questions, 5 3-5 page essays and 1 5-7 page final. She actually responds to emails quickly, which is nice. Take advantage of her office hours for her advice/help. Overall I liked the class
The coursework isn't too difficult as long as you do the readings and take notes. Quizzes every week, essays every other week. However, it felt like some quizzes had questions that weren't covered in the readings. Also can't see her feedback for the essays. Overall okay class.
Professor was great she leaves all assignments open to complete for the whole semester except quizzes. Quizzes are weekly but very easy.
It's no joke, she is an insanely harsh grader with very vague feedback until you see her personally. She is a nice, enthusiastic, and passionate person who encourages you to learn or participate. However, I could be understanding and meeting the prompt guidelines, and still get criticized on these essays. I genuinely struggle with this professor.
This is a wonderful professor who clearly loves the subjects she teaches. She is engaging and witty. Do the essays, pay attention, do well on the quizzes and you will get an A. I would recommend her to anyone for Art History.
Don't pick this professor. Just don't.
Im not interested in art history at all, but prof Moss really does a great job with this course. The class is really textbook heavy so you'll have to read the chapter before the lecture. Her lectures are really great. V good at explaining everything you'll need to know for your quizzes. Alot of writing as well, but she provides good feedback. 10/10
By far one of the toughest graders at CSUN. Took this class as a senior because I thought it would be a fun class to learn about art from other cultures. Worst mistake ever. She is super anal about formatting and seems to value that over the actual art. This is more of an English or writing class than an art class.
She gives very vague feedback on your papers, so you're forced to go to her office hours online. She's pretty nice, cheerful, and funny in class. You have to read the e-text Ch. before every lecture. You have either one quiz or one paper to do every week, based off the chapter. And a final paper which is open the wholesemester. Dontslackofflikeme.
If you do not submit every quiz or assignment on time you will NOT pass this class at all she is very strict on this and will not show leniency towards you no matter what. She is very strict with grading you have to follow everything that she says to do or you will receive a low grade. There is an e-text you have to read along with a quiz weekly.
A gc is a must!! Quiz every week based on reading. 2-3pg (double space, chicago) essay every 2 weeks based on reading & outside. txt book was free. super strict on essays. final is either research paper (4pg essay) or creative project (art piece & 2pg double space essay). 1 redo quiz & 1 extra credit quiz. not horrible but definitely not easy
This teacher would give us an essay every week. She is an extremely tough grader and picks at everything. She says everything is AI even if you don't use it. Thought this would be easy and I was very wrong.
Absolutely terrible prof, should be fired immediately. Got a 0% on an essay for AI when I literally used information straight from the textbook. She also does not even have a grading rubric for the essays, I guess it is just how she feels about the essay and that is the grade. Absolutely brilliant. Trying her best to ruin my first semester at CSUN.
This teacher is honestly annoying. She assigns lots of essays and quizzes. Like an essay every week literally. VERY harsh grader and Also she will give you a 0 and say you used AI even if you didn't. She is very passive aggressive at times and it was very difficult having her as a prof like girl this is an art class its shouldn't be this hard
Okay so first the couse is not hard, it is easy. My only issue is the professor is really anal when it comes to essays. She picks at everything. The quizzes are easy as long as you read and if needed take notes. Course is based on quizzes and a total of 6 essays (final included). She offers few extra credit. Overall, I would not take her again
VERY boring class DON'T use ANY grammar extensions or you'll get flagged and consequently interrogated by the prof. She WILL gaslight you into thinking you used AI. Submit work on time for sure, she will not be lenient at all. At least I got my credit and won't have to take this class again. I wish I could write more about this insufferable class.
She's tough on assignments and grades. As long as you stay on top of things and attend office hours, you're golden. Essays + quiz every week, lectures don't relate much to either. Literally don't use any AI or other writing programs and you'll have an easier time.
where do i begin. this professor was so boring. u have to go to lectures but the material is boring. if u hate writing man are u gonna not like her. there was a point in the semester where ur gonna write an essay once a week. u must turn work in on time. she will not give u an extension no matter what.
This professor is NOT a professor at all. She absolutely gaslights you and will tell you your essay was made with AI even if it was hand written. Her lectures are long and filled with very unimportant tangents. If the whole class was run by an AI it would be much MUCH better than anything she is “doing”. Very disappointed.
She's strict on everyone but herself.
I really enjoyed Professor Moss's class! She is so funny and passionate about what she teaches. It makes you excited to learn. There are alot of papers and quizzes but the class was really doable. Highly recommend, I learned so much.
Would not recommend, at all.
Her grading is so unreasonable, and she has the weirdest due time at 8pm. i watched her gaslight as student's questions onto themselves. her lectures are very interesting but its not worth the harsh grading and gas lighting you go through talking to her. do not take her
Awful. Wastes time, lectures do not help with assignments. You will write a 5-page paper with quizzes and discussion posts due every week. She grades tough and fails most students. She doesn't care. Class is not for Art majors only for other students. Do not take this course. She doesn't believe in teaching, only in failing students.
Doesn't care about students' time, especially if you are full-time and work. Punitive grader. You will fail the class, even if you turn in all assignments. Here's how: There are 12 quizzes given, and if you miss 2 out of 12, it's an automatic F in the class, and she will not, even if you have a valid excuse, let you retake the quiz.
During my studies, she was the worst professor I had, she was very disorganized and made the duetime for papers very irregular and unusual. She try to fine a way to give us low grade,
Extremely strict and makes you hate the university. His bad behavior made us think he had a personal problem with the students. Very disorganized and doesn't care about the students.
The biggest mistake any student makes during their education is choosing this professor to ruin your educational path.
So glad I dropped the class before the deadline, this class reminds me of a different class that I took before I transferred to CSUN. If you tank 2 quizzes, your chances of failure will more likely lock in.
Barely 4 weeks into school and this professor won't do any retakes or extensions despite valid reasons, she assigned an essay to be due on a Tuesday and doesn't care about your workload. Idk I feel like she's going to have it out for me this semester for daring to ask for a singular day's extension.
Took this Professor a year ago and honestly, I managed to do just fine. As long as your only hard class is this one, you should be able to balance out her work w everything else. Gives vague feedback. Just don't use AI and you should be fine.
Took an online class. Despite this we needed to take a "field trip"on our own time to a museum of her liking for a research paper. Very writing intensive class, 3 page essays due every two weeks. Which would not be an issue if there wasn't a lack of rubric and feedback. The class is not difficult, the professor is difficult. #neveragain
This Professor refused to be helpful or be any kind of flexible to multiple students who had medical issues and doctors notes and reached out to Dres. Essays constantly, and more involved discussion posts than most classes weird schedule. Teacher sucks if you have to take her RUN I beg of you.
At first i thought she was such a sweet lady. Three months into the class, i dislike her a lot. She doesnt give rubrics on her Essay assignments and keeps saying to just answer the prompt in its entirety. IVE BEEN DOING THAT and i STILL get a B or less. The whole class complains abt her on discord. She rarely gives a perfect score on the essays.
She assigns a discussion every week and an essay every other week. Her responses to emails are quick but answers very vaguely. Doesnt do extensions no matter your circumstance because she “cant do it without extending it for everyone” even tho its quite literally possible to extend for just one student. Grades very harshly with no rubrics.
Just don't take her unless you want to do an easy every other week. She give comments on every little thing you do so just take another professor if you can.
Many students got flagged for using AI even though they have proof that they didn't use it. If u dont have EXPERT level writing, you wont get an A. If you do TOO well, you'll get flagged for using AI. The class is more of an english class than an art class cuz she nitpicks the smallest details of your essays when even my ENG classes don't.
Dont take this class because I sure wish i dropped it. If you do take this class, make sure it's your only hard class/writing class because i have 3 different writing classes and i get 4hrs of sleep a day. She assigns an essay/discussion + quiz every week and doesn't accept late submissions under any circumstances. The avg essay score is 9/15 btw.
At first she seems like a very nice lady, but after seeing that you have to write an essay every other week, it's really annoying. Although she doesn't give out Midterms or an actual final for this class, you have to do up to 5 essays and 1 final research paper. This is more of a writing class than an actual art class.
We email her asking for help about stuff but she was never helpful. There was an error with gmail that caused me to get a zero on an assignment, and she didn't help fix it even though it wasn't my fault. One student said they had a funeral to attend and couldn't finish an assignment, but she didn't care at all. At least she gave extra credit.
