lots of homework. she does a lot of examples. her test aren't very difficult but you still have to study for'em.
During the time I have attended LACC, I have encoutered instructors that confuse junior college with a four year institution. Including this math instructor. This is the reason why enrollment is down.
easy A
Very easy if you take notes and ask questions if you don't understand something. Gives a lot of homeworks but i think it is useful. Because you will do much better on the tests. It works for me. I think it will work for you to.
she has been the best math instructor i have ever had her tests are not difficult if you do the homework she assigns she is also very helpful
OMG her teaching style is so good. She tries many problems from the book. When I took her class I thought I was going to pass her class w/ a hardcore (with a C) but I was wrong, is just easy. She gives u the concept when she goes step by step. Whenever u need help she's always willing to help u and not all instructors r like that. She loves math!
i completely agree. she is a good teacher and gives many helpful examples. shes well organized and her tests arent hard. just do your hw (like in any class) and all the test questions come from the homework and those that she even reviewed in class. take it. shes one of the better math teacers.
Very helpful, very organized with her teaching method. Her exams are exactly based on chapters being covered. She is a great Math Teacher. I do recommend her for those who fear math a bit, she will take that away!
The BEESSST teacher ever. I wish all of my teachers were like her. She knows how to explain math so you can get it. She is not one of thosee complicated math teachers that make math hard. Actually I never loved math this much. Her classes are pretty interesting and she explains everything so good that everything becomes easy.Take herr, she rocks!!
Always stays on schedule (on the syllabus), so you can do the HW ahead of time; works out the problem step-by-step; answers questions meaningfully and will never put a student down however outrageous his/her question may be; if you need help, you can go to her. Overall - BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!

so nice! really tries to help students understand the material. on tests gives points just for trying. math is some seriously boring**** but she helps relieve it a bit.
A very thorough professor who goes through all the details with a step by step approach. Helpful and clear most of the time and she really has a good understanding of the topic, enough to explain in easy terms. I recommend her.
She is very helpful teacher.I took her class and i undertood everything she taught even i don't know enough english. Her lecture is very organized!!!
great wounderfull she is the best she helps she explains i would i said she is the best teacher i ever had at lacc
Ms.Salazar is a great professor. I totally recommend her, she is patient, nice, and explains critically well. She is never absent,so that's good.Gives HW daily, and her tests are not so hard.
she's amazing.. THE MOST HELPFUL teacher ever! her class is not too stressful.
I took her for 112 and am now taking her for 125, and she is by far, the most helpful and approachable math teacher I've had. She is lively, and tries to make math as fun as it can be, really helpful and patient, and you feel confortable asking questions without feeling embarrassed. Definitely taker her, especially if math intimidates you, :)
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. HER TESTS ARE WAY HARDER THAN THE PROBLEMS THAT SHE DOES IN CLASS. SHE IS MEAN. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU TAKE THIS CLASS WITH ANOTHER TEACHER. SHE SEEMS EASY AT FIRST BUT WHEN IT COMES TO TESTS, SHE GETS REALLY HARD. DON'T PUT YOUR GPA AT RISK. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE
Great Math Teacher! She is very clear and helpful. I took the class at 6:55am and I was able to stay awake every time. She is an engaging teacher!
Would not recommend anyone to take her. She seems easy at first, but when it comes to her tests, gives very hard questions. And everything she talks about in the class is not even on the tests. There were lots people in the class at the beginning of the semester, and only 13 people left in the class at the end. The rest of them dropped. And I think
She must be one the best teachers I ever had. She is very organized, very strict, which is good if u want to get the best out of yourself, not a difficult person to approach either. Always available to answer any questions. Lots of homework, which its beneficial. Tests are fairly challenging. She NEVER takes a rest. and on top of that she is hot.
the best maths teacher ever!shes so easy going she answers all questions u ask the most important thing is she makes the problems so clear yea i highly recommend her
Wouldn't recommend you to take this class with her. She is very hard and very strict. She pretends that she will help you, however, when you go to her and ask for help to do better on her tests, she totally gives you something which is not even on the test. And when the test comes you see these wonderful surprise questions on the test. Has an attitu
Don't ever take this teacher. She doesn't have heart. Has a very bad attitude. If you have any questions regarding to the math, she might get on your nerves instead to help you out in class. Most of the students think that she is a good teacher, but she seems she is, after all, they drop the class. So, if you want your GPA go down, take her
good teacher and strict if u wanna learn something take her.

Very hard. At the beginning of the class she tells you that if you do homework, its going to be part of you grade, but at the end, she doesn't even count the homeworks that you have done. Also, she pretends that she is helping you, but when you go for her, she will give you some other staffs to study, where none of her examples will be on the test.
I barely passed math in high school and I got an A in her class because she is such a great teacher. She is very sweet and helpful. Don't be late to class or she won't take your H.W. Gives a good amount of H.W. but it is helpful. If you do it and understand it you don't even need to study for the tests. Drops lowest exam score.
I have mixed feelings about her. Yes she's pretty and nice but she doesn't know her material. She gets nervous and lost in the problems she's doing on the board. I remember I once had to help her solve a complex problem and the board because she couldn't figure it out on her own. I felt like I could've just learned the course on my own without her!
I wouldn't recomend any student to take this session with her. She doesn't teach well, she always says "maybe I need some coffee to be wake", to cover her mistakes. And at the end, she picks the low grade for you. If you want you GPA go down, take her.
It would not matter who you take in Calculus 1.
Don't take this class with her, otherwise you will low your GPA at the end of the semester by receiving the low grade. This teacher doesn't have a heart, and if she see that the student works hard, she will still choose the lowest grade at the end.
Ms. Salazar is EXTREMELY helpful. She doesn't make you feel dumb for asking questions, like most Math teachers at LACC. She is a VERY fair test grader and will give you points for at least starting the problem. I must also state that Gohar, the class tutor, was an important factor in my good grades. You won't be dissapointed if you take her class.
SHE IS EXTREMELY HARD. EVEN IF YOU GO TO TUTORING AND WORK HARD TO GET AN A YOU WILL STILL RECEIVE A B. SHE MAKES YOU FEEL AS IF YOU MAKE ONE MISTAKE UR NOT GOING TO PASS THE CLASS. LOTS OF HW AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HER STUDENTS. SHE IS JUST THERE TO WRITE THINGS ON THE BOARD NOT TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND.SHE ACTS LIKE SHE IS THE SMARTEST BEST TEACH
She's not difficult to understand at all. Anybody who thought her class was too hard and impossible you're wrong!! She's a lovely math teacher compared to the rest math teachers at LACC. She explains well and more than once. Her tests are very fair. All you have to do is study and do your homework which isn't alot. I really recommend her
She is an excellent professor. I highly recommed her because she is fair when it comes to grading your work and willing to help you with any Math problem that you cannot solve. I got an A in her class and i am not a math person. Take her if you can. Just behave like an adult College student otherwise she will kicked you out of her class.
I took a high level math class with her without having taken math in about 2 years so I had to drop.It was my bad.As far as Salazar she is really good looking and seemed like a good teacher but I wouldn't know since I was over my head since day one.She did give me extra help during her office hours also.Take her class her appearance is worth it.
I have a really hard time with math but, she breaks everything down so well that I actually passed the class. She is a really amazing teacher.
had her for math 124 n statistics. She explains everything very clearly. If you don't understand she will help.students who don't pass only have themselves to blame for not putting in the effort. She is the hottest teacher or lady I have ever met. She looks like she is 22.J.Salazar is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will b
Great Teacher. Clear, patient and coherent. Has a great heart; will work with you even through tough times, but you still have to do your work to earn your grade. She has to do her job!She has office hours and you should really take advantage of meeting with her during that time for help. She's great. Thumbs up!
Mrs. Salazar is the best teacher I have ever had. She would take time explaining every single possibility of problems in each and every chapter. She is great; however, she is very strict but dont let that scare you away cause besides her you will not find a better prof for math. I highly recommend her but only play it by her rules and dont cheat!!!
Must take !!! Explains everything clearly, she is nice and helps with any problem you may have. I would definitely recommend her !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I completely agree with the comment below mine.. at first she was great i wont lie she made math clear for once but out of nowhere she's gone and well just dont take her she'll screw u over :/
She is the best Mathematics teacher that I have ever had. She is crystal clear and very helpful. Her tests are not easy because the subject is not easy. She puts a lot into teaching the class and expects a lot out of the students (by way of tough test questions, homework and attendance).I recommend her to everyone.
A great teacher. I wish she taught calculus 2. Her lectures are clear and the tests are not that hard. She drops the lawest score of tests and replaces by the final grade. I highly recommend her. LACC needs more teachers like her.
VERY VERY helpful teacher but you just have to dedicate hours of studying to do well. She is great but if you are a student that works, this class will keep you stressed out because of all the material. Dont't recommend taking her if you are a student/ working at the same time but overall has good attitude. She knows her stuff.
I wrote the review before this. Just wanted to fix error. I took her for math 115 not math 112 ;)
Best teacher, shes hot and explains everything really well. I recommed her if you taking any math in los angeles community college. Best teacher ever.
She is the perfect person to teach math. I took 125 with her and she is crystal clear, charming, not boring, and she will gladly answer any question. She is always there to help during her office hours (which are every day). Not a dull moment in this class, and mine is 4 days/week, 1 hour/ day.
best math teacher at LACC hands down. i adore her.
Shes just great professor in LACC. She gives u out mathhomwork which is due on every monday and 4 test will be given lowest grade u got it from her will be dropped automatically and replace with final test grade. she often make mistake during lecture however whos perfect !
Exceptional teacher! You MUST be present in class, pay attention and do the homework, but you will truly learn the material. I am a life-long despiser of math and numbers in general and not only did I ace this class, but I also enjoyed going! I am now taking an accelerated Chemistry class and am acing the math problems. Thanks, Prof. Salazar!
I dreaded having to take math but she was incredible. She makes you earn her grade. You will get what you put into her class. Tests are just like homework problems and she will say that they are "test type." She loves teaching and loves math and it shows.
I took her in a 5 week course and was amazed by her teaching style. She is very helpful, extremely clear and teaches in a correct way, grades accordingly. What I like most is that she is not an easy teacher... If you really want to learn then take her!!!
I'm still in attendance of this course currently, but I am absolutely pleasantly surprised thus far. I'm terrible with math, I mean TERRIBLE, and she makes it a breeze! I actually understand the material, whereas others never explained it well, expected you to figure it out. She is precisely on time, ridiculously helpful and clear, and the BEST!
OMG shes nice but once it comes to the test i swear i get stuck its horrible :( shes cool to be honest not a bad teacher but sucks how once ur tested u have no idea what the material is ???? u get stuck :( shes strict but idk her test arent so goodi had to drop the classs now
she does homework problem from the book as part of her teaching technique, it is helpful but i rather that she spends more time explaining the different ways of how the problem can show up then to way for her to go down the list of homework problems. she is overall very helpful, explains well, and you will learn a lot if you put times and effort
Prof. Salazar is great!Very clear & fair. Her tests are hand written,so you get partial credit, even if you get the answer wrong. You don't have to buy the txt bk,which is great.Overall, very good experience.Just study and show up to lectures and you will do well!
Prof. Salazar is a wonderful professor! I had a lot of trouble with calculus in the past, but she made the subject extremely clear. Her tets were very fair and the questions were very similar to homework problems or were taken directly from her notes. The final was pretty difficult, but, if you buckle down and study the older tests, you'll be fine!
When she is giving the class she is only looking at the ceiling, whenever she is asked a question she answers looking at the floor is very uncomfortable. she gives study guides to "help" you with the test but when you get the test is everything but the things she puts in the study guide. a lot of people failed the class . I didn't like her class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. She does not know anything and grades horribly.IF she likes you from the beginning you are safe if not she will not pass you. You do not have a chance to pass the class even if you attend every class and do the HW she will grade you horribly and not pass you on purpose.(Math 261, CAL, 1)
Sometimes she would go over the theory of the material which weighed everything down, but she did not test on it, so understanding the theory was optional. Her tests are very fair, and she allows use of a flashcard for formulas (very useful). Her final exam was more difficult, but she omitted the lowest score problem.
good teacher. tough class. tests are kinda tricky. she uses MATH XL.. and puts up practice tests. they are very helpful!
had no issues and it was a great class. try to attend every session, try not to fall behind with the homework and do the practice tests. if you approach the class with an open mind and willingness to learn, you'll end up enjoying professor salazar's class.
amazing professor. never understood math till she taught it!! take her. if u study, and go to class, i dont see why you wouldnt pass
She has an amazing ability to explain anything in plain English no matter how difficult the concept and how abstract the idea behind it. She is a reasonable, approachable, and fair person. She hates cheater... who doesn't if you're a hard working person?
Mrs. Salazar is an angel!! She definitely helps, she's clear. Not an easy class, but if you pay attention, practice, do your HW, you'll be fine. Best professor of LACC, by far. I'm so glad I took her! Highly recommended!!! Thanks, Mrs. Salazar!
This class is not easy but if you do all your homework expect a good grade. Midterms are fare if you studied hard and she is very good grader. You will receive partial grade even if your answer is not correct as long as you have a right idea. Final is hard but if you get a good grade it will greatly improve your overall grade. Good luck!
I thought the class went just the right pace though I couldn't say the same for the other people in my class. We had four tests and my scores were 48,50,50,49 out of 50 each.
I can't see how it gets any better than Salazar. Math is not an easy subject, it still isn't but Salazar's approach makes it seem as easy as 1+1. That's how well she breaks it down along w/ the tips and shortcuts she gives. She encourages the students to ask any question. She doesn't want you to buy the expensive book. I just wish she taught 125.
She's an amazing professor. I look forward in taking her Math 125 class. PAY ATTENTION IN HER CLASSROM AND COME EVERYDAY, and it would be a breeze :)
Algebra is not my favorite & it can be difficult but I am so lucky I have her as a teacher. She is thorough & makes sure you understand the material. Of course you'll have hw every week & 4 tests but just study and you'll be fine! I was hoping to take her for Math 125 but shes not teaching it :( I wish all professors were as organized as her.
Professor Salazar is the best teacher for taking math. Her techniques for teaching make learning the subject more understandable. She is very professional. If you don't understand math now, you will when you take her class. Don't miss any days, take notes, and if you have a question ASK! You should pass. She made learning fun for me.
Great professor, but be ready to learn. You will learn everything in this class but it is tough. She teaches clearly but at the same time she expects that much from you.
I love this professor and respect her very much. Always willing to help. Her ways of teaching are very different and much more clear. The few people who complain are always in class just using their phones or too busy doing other things. After all though, it is math and you have to work hard to be familiar with the material.
She is an superb teacher! Please take her and you will not regret it!
Incredible professor! She's an absolute sweetheart and genuinely wants you to understand this. It's not an easy class, but she does everything in her power to help you. I'm taking stats and a lot of people had trouble at first but now they're all on top of it thanks to her help. If you want to learn and not fall asleep in class, take her!
Her explanations are supburb. Her exams look easy, but dont be fooled when working them. When students fail, she will say, " I'm not the only instructor who teaches this course. Other instructors give the same material. Give them a chance after you fail mine".
She's one of the greatest professors of all time! I had no idea what to expect in stats and even though some sections were difficult she explained everything in detail. Very helpful in class and office hours. Strict in attendance. Take her if you want to learn and don't mind working hard!
She is absolutely amazing as a person, if you approach her in private about any event happening to you, she will listen to you and try to help you, she doesn't require any text book everything is due online with no confusion, if you're willing to take the class serious you will pass with an A but you have to study hard. highly recommend take her ^^
This women is such a perfect example of a teacher should be dedicated to his/her job. Besides the class, her attitude and character is so kind. She helps laughs explains again and again however, you have to be hard-working and prepare for her class all the time. No require book. She uses math program online to give assignments. No worries it's easy
I loved Professor Salazar! Have always disliked math but she explains it so well, even though your ? might seem "dumb" she always reassures you and tells you "good question" she is very positive, gives 50%(maybe even 75%) of herself, she doesnt make us buy the txtbk! fair grader !
Brilliant professor! She is the perfect example of a Math Professor, organized, friendly, her lectures are clear, tests not easy but if you study will do great, does not require book, and will make you love math. Do really recommend her.
Professor Salazar is the best professor ever! She explains the concepts very well, and she does not discourage her students. She is willing to put the extra effort if her students also put the extra effort. Take her! You won't regret it!
She is overall a great math professor. I took her for math 112 as well as math 227. Please, if you need to take math 227, take it with her! She makes it really simple and easy for you to understand. You have plenty of chances to get an A in this course. Just put in the work and study. She cares for her students, and she is super genuine.
Professor Salazar is the best professor! She explains the concepts step by step, and she doesn't make you feel stupid for asking a bunch of questions. Stats is a difficult class, but Professor Salazar makes it easy as she could. It is up to the student if she or he wants to pass the class.
Prof. Salazar is one of the top Math professor at LACC. I took her for Math 113&114 and would take her again and again. Attendance & punctuality is probably the most important thing. Her teaching style is extremely clear & simple. Take notes, do the online assignments on time, and you're good to go. Also before every exam, she gives a study guide.
the best math professor i've had impossible not to pass, unless you don't try at all
She gives you the short cut to the big problems which makes it much easier to complete the homework and tests. Study the quizzes for test, they help you.
Professor Salazar is the best math teacher I've had my entire life! Her explanations are clear and she is always willing to help. She teaches you shortcuts but also the proper way to do problems. Do the homework, it really helps, and it will show. Her teaching is among the best and I will definitely take her again when I can!
Smirks a lot. Confusing at times. A lot of homework and wasn't helpful when I would ask questions.
Honestly the negative reviews are probably from people who didn't show up and expected great grades and ended up failing. But professor Salazar is amazing, I had trouble with math 115 and she helped me perfectly. She explained everything crystal clear so her tests were easy. Her grading scale is amazing! Trust me, take her!!!
Best math professor I have ever taken. She was crystal clear and always showed us easier ways to solve complicated equations. Homework & tests were on MyMathLab but the test is directly from the HW and very easy if you put in the effort. I cannot get over how helpful she is and I wish she taught 125.
I have taken math 115/125/263 with Salazar over the years. I have enjoyed every second spent in class. She is crystal clear in her lectures and extremely helpful, both inside and outside the classroom, and a great person above all. Always comes to work with a smile. I wish her test were harder to match the clearness of her lecturing.
take prof salazar she is great! test are kinda hard.
Taking Salazar now and she is amazing! Gives you so many opportunities to get a good grade- she found a lot of missing points for me in my test and pre-test. Very patient, will make sure everyone understands the material and encourages questions. Like she says, "math has no secrets". Very thorough in her teaching. Tests are the pretests. Take her!
Ms. Salazar is not that great, her test are probably the most stupidest thing so I warn others from taking her, because test is 50% your grade. her quizzes are 20 to 25 questions, and the the test is only 13 to 15, so why are we studying other material that isn't gonna be on the exam? she doesn't give us a review of the test. Don't take her class.
If you want your academic dreams to be crushed within an hour well here is your chance, This professor wont even look at you in the eye while talking to you her one hour lectures are based on the book literally word by word. lots of homework and not enough time to do them at least their worth 10% of your grade. May god help whoever takes this class
Prof is cute and smart, goes over the most of the problems we would see in the HW, which is about 20-some odd questions due 2 days after each section. 4 Exams + Final total, no quizzes. Drops lowest test grade for final grade if higher. Generous partial cred. Tough class, but fair. You get what you put out in it.
Statistics was super easy and fun with her. I'm not sure about any other maths but I fell in love with statistics after taking her. She explained statistics super-clear and would constantly repeat what she had just said so we would not forget. I passed with a 96% overall. Don't have to show up but you will miss valuable information to get B's or A.
She is seriously great at teaching and gives extra credit for showing your work on tests. Her lectures are very easy to understand, you do need to attend all classes so you can take good notes. She is A plus, I had attempted this class 3 times and never passed until I took her. Just show up & pay attention, take notes to review & you will pass.
I love her, 10% of h/w she will drop the lowest three grades of h/w. and 4 tests 1 exam. lowest test can be replaced by the final. The test questions are based on h/w problems.
avoid this instructor like the plague if you want fail math take her
Professor Salazar was really a great choice for a math teacher. She really takes the time to go through every math procedure and problems until all her students understand the concepts. She gives a good amount of homework that uses the my math lab site, but if you do all the work then you will be prepared for the exams. Would def take again. :-D
She's probably one of my favorite professors in LACC but there's so much work to do if you want to get a passing grade.
Took Salazar for 2 semesters. Homework is on MyMathlab(textbook is not required) and there is a quiz with an average of 25-30 questions due before each exam(which are online) that does have an effect on your grade. If you receive a c or better on the quiz, she looks for extra points on your exam to help you out. Lowest exam replaced by final.
Ask her to make eye contact
Took Math 167 with her, and I absolutely loved her!! very polite, very enthusiastic about teaching which made the class fun. I wanted to take her for Stats but she wasnt teaching the class :(
She takes her time explaining everything and answering your questions. But if you dont have daily access to a computer then you're not gonna be able to do her hw. The hw is not good study material either and there's lots of it. She gives practice quizzes and those are great! STUDY YOUR NOTES! Have someone fast at math to help you with hw.
She is a great professor. Makes sure you fully understand what she is teaching.
One of the best Professor in Los Angeles City College.
A great professor, very thorough. Hw from the textbook every other day or so. Quizzes, review, and a project (worksheet) are due every few weeks, but it's to prepare you for the quiz, and they're very helpful. She will answer any question no matter how small, so pay attention and take good notes. She doesn't give extra credit or curve grades.
I took her for MATH 263 and 275. Very positive, and challenging in the right areas: she wants you to understand the methodology, and is very generous with partial credit, particularly in 275. I tend to try solving problems on my own in lectures but watching her solutions was often helpful. Great at supporting students one on one.
Shes an amazing teacher ! I would recommended taking her class also explains clearly.
Every assignment is through MathLab, no textbook. Atleast 3 assignments per week. For the tests she provides study problems online to practice with which are very similar to the tests. They help a lot in passing the test. Her lectures are simple and she kindly helps you with any question. Easy A and she's a nice teacher.
Im currently taking her pre-Statistics class and she is a great teacher. Explains very clearly to students if they dont understand the concepts she is likely to explain them. I hope to take her class for Stats next semester if she teaches the class. Hw is on Canvas. Sample tests helps you to prepare for tests. I highly recommend this professor.
Stats is a very difficult class. Problem Solving used via StatCrunch. Just pay attention to what she is explaining and if you keep up, you will succeed in this class. If you need to take Stats take this class with her. I highly recommend her.
She is very sweet. Im glad I took her for Math 167. I really liked her feedback from my HW done via canvas. She provides problem solving skills step by step. I cant wait to take her for Stats next semester. If you need to take Statistics you should take her. I highly recommend her.
I took her for prestats and she is an amazing teacher ! she explains problems step by step and makes sure the classes understands the term. She is very helpful when youre lost in a certain problem and does not mind going through it highly recommend
solid professor.. clear criteria
At first I had fears in taking Statistics because Ive been told that it would be a difficult class. With her it wasnt that hard if you keep up. She had us students use MS Excel and StatCrunch for problem solving. Just attention on what she is doing or else you get lost. I appreciate her in many ways. Take her. No regrets.
Great teacher. She teaches stats efficiently and doesnt have us memorize formulas. Most of the work is done via technology so all you have to do is plug in the numbers for the formulas. I highly recommend her for stats.
She is an amazing teacher Ive had. Although math is my weakest subject, taking stats with her was fun. She doesnt have us memorize all the formulas as most of the work is done with MS Excel and StatCrunch. You just have to plug in the numbers for the formulas. Class met once a week. This is a must take for those that are taking stats. Take her.
I loved taking her class. She is a great professor I had. I took her for Stats. Tech used. No need to memorize formulas except for a few. No textbook needed. Time will fly by fast too by taking her class like she says "Time flies when you are having fun". Just pay attention to what she's doing. If you get lost, ask her. Definitely take her.
I love taking Salazars class. She is the greatest teacher Ive ever had! She cares about students a lot. She is always there to help us by using Statcrunch. So that way, it would be more useful. If you wanna pass Stats, then take her as long as you can. No matter how difficult you are trying, she will always be there for you.
i wasn't prepared but, Mrs. Salazar made it easy to understand. She taught through power points that you may reference when you do your homework. she gives four tests and drops the lowest score. She is a fair grader you work hard she helps you. She truly cares about her students. She truly has a passion for teaching math. office hours are a must.
THANK YOU PROFESSOR SALAZAR, FOR CARING ENOUGH TO TEACH WELL. Took her for MATH260, and wow. Her teaching is so extremely detailed and thorough, and she makes sure no one is left behind. She explains the why's of everything. Her lectures were so clear I honestly barely had any questions. And when I did, she was able to explain it perfectly. AMAZING
Prof Salazar is truly one of the best math teachers Ive ever had. Her lectures are so clear and she answers questions that everyone has. She holds regular office hours and will help you with questions on the homework, quizzes, and previous tests and kindly answers everything. Professor Salazar is truly a gem at LACC and Id recommend her strongly.
Prof Salazar is very skilled and organized . She can be tough on you but she is very generous with partial credit. She values your approach on solving the question even if you cant get to the answer. one bad thing is the computer generated hw which really tests your algebra skills and can take alot of time from learning concepts. Take her!
To be frank, she is the best math professor I've ever had. Her explanation is on point and she makes everything interesting by using some humor. She is very well organized whether it's online or in-class session. She uses iPad to teach, so even if you don't take notes in class, it'll be on Canvas. She gives four tests and drops the lowest score.
A BIGGG NO ... This class supposed to be easy but she made it super difficult . Lectures were recorded and posted on canvas , where she was just reading the power point .Virtual office hours , which was of no use . Tests were on zoom and are NOT EASY . 3 test 65% , HW 10% and finals 25% . THOUGH GRADER . NO help at all.
Professor Salazar is a very good professor. I have now taken 8 college math classes and she is the best one I've ever had, by far. Her lectures are clear and she doesn't waste too much time shoving abstract material down your throat that isn't necessary for the class. Her tests are difficult, but she is a very generous grader as well.
I took this class just because of these rating but the class was opposite . Not easy, no help and rude . Had to drop it with a W and almost half of the class dropped.
I won't take her Math class anymore because her exams are hard, and she assigns a lot of homework each week, so you need to spend a lot of your time in there. Also, you have to show your face using Zoom when taking exams for 2 hours, and for homework, you have to buy Math Lab which is too pricey (Over $100). For these reasons, I dropped her class.
I have had Salazar's class for two terms and she is the best professor I have had in math so far(I've had 4 different professors). This class was online with no live lectures, she has the entire semester structured into the modules and it flows in a natural manner. Tests are live and are based on the lectures. Watch every lecture and do the HW!
Very clear on her lectures, If you are looking to learn, this is it!. She calls roll during zoom meetings but you dnt have to show your face or participate. Cons, a LOT of HW , there is always a quiz before the test, so it actually helps. camera ON during test, if she thinks ur cheating, she'll give you a 0! at end of smstr she gives extra points
Very energetic. She doesn't care about repeating herself for students to understand. She records her lectures. Polite, and teaches well.
terrible
Do not be afraid of math with Prof Salazar, she is an incredible math professor! Makes lecture slides available to download which are VERY useful. Uses technology a lot which makes stats VERY easy because the computer basically does all the work for you. And if you ever need extra help you can just pop into office hours and she will explain things!
Not recommended for 5-8 week semester. Gives too much homework for short semester. Does not explain notations thoroughly(maybe because of short semester). About 9 students dropped the class in the first to second week. You would have to study while working on homework to understand notations and concepts(difficult since hw has short deadline).
HW: 10%/Tests: 63% /Final Exam: 27%, Rude, Angry, Horrible Grader.50% of class dropped with w.
I actually learned quite a bit in this class. Its very clear what your grade will be based on, and the tests were modeled off the study guides (some questions were exactly the same). Only complaint is the insane amount of work but other than that, this is a pretty solid professor that lets you know exactly what the class is like. Don't skip class.
Took her for Calculus 3 in the spring semester and everything here is the truth. Firstly she gives you study guides to practice and on the test it is totally different from the study guide so it is basically a waste of time doing it. The test are extremely hard and she is a tough grader. 85% of the class dropped the course after the second test.
Like she could be an amazing professor but she has a very condescending attitude and does not help if you get a question wrong she just tells you to go to office hours. She's not hard but her test wording is very awkward.
Gives ample opportunities for extra credit. Lectures in class are clear and she goes over several in-class examples to ensure that topic is understood. Easy A if you do your homework and pay attention. Just an excellent professor overall and I highly recommend.
I have always struggled and failed math throughout my life. That was until I took Prof Salazar's intro to stats class. She's very thorough with her lectures and eager to help students. She utilizes technology so it's useful for the real world and you'll rarely deal w crazy equations. Homework heavy. Show up and try and you'll get an A.
She is so caring
Rude with very little to no help at all. Avoid
Very straightforward. If you put in the effort and time, you should have no problem receiving a solid grade in this class. Study guides prepare you well for the exams and are similar in difficulty to the practice problems, which she also grades quite leniently.
Extremely lenient instructor. Great lectures with awesome study guides to prepare you for the exams. Do your part in the class and walk out with a guaranteed A. Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities! Disregard the negative feedback that says otherwise.
Dropped Vin Lee's class for Salazar and DID NOT REGRET. Don't take anyone else for Calc 3 if it isn't Nguyen or Salazar. Her lectures are very clear, HW is due two days after class but it prepares you for exams. Study guides are EC. Exams are just like the practice problems on the study guides. Formula card is allowed on exams. Easy A if you try.
Professor Salazar make this class easy to understand. I have always been intimidated by math, however, this class I really enjoyed attending her lectures. Do all your homework and the study guides for her test and you will end up with an A in her class.
Prof. Salazar is a good professor. Lectures are clear and her examples are easy to follow. She does give tons of homework though (like 3-4 sections a week w/ each having at least 20 problems). Your fingers may go numb but if you do the homework and show up to class, you'll make it. FYI- Exams/Quizzes are basically switched up homework problems
She makes the concept easy to understand. Tests are based on homework. Never miss the class before the test. She will give a hint about what kind of questions will be on the test.
Requieres you to attend each zoom session even though they are recorded and can drop you of the class if you don't attend the zoom meetings. She just rushes through slides and does not teach well. Gives out way too much hw. Quizzes & exams are different than hw and doesn't give enough time to complete them. She is rude and does not help out alot.
Juliet Salazar makes learning sessions clear, enjoyable, and flexible. To pass this class, you'll need to purchase an online textbook that you'll have time take notes from before the next payment. You are guaranteed to pass this class if you are present, doing class work, collaborating in zoom class, and actually doing every assignment.
Professor Salazar is positive and cheerful which makes the math less daunting. Explains the material clearly and is available through email or OH to answer any questions. Very fair. Homework is a good review and way to apply what was learned in class. Gives extra credit study guides before tests. I would highly recommend her for any class.
Professor Salazar makes math engaging and accessible. Attend class, do the homework, and utilize resources like Unstuck study - you'll likely earn an A. Grading is fair, with helpful feedback and extra credit opportunities.
The professor herself is so kind and loves to explain things in detail. The textbook is free only thing you would have to buy is Stat Crunch because thats where you will do and submit homework, use it for future math tests. I only got a bad grade because I gave up after stat crunch gave me a hard time for 3 days in a row
Really good professor; ive taken discrete before but this class taught me so much more about proofs. Prof is kind, patient, and very very willing to help. Tests are really easy and def much easier than the homework. Recommend 10000% if you need to take this class!
Salazar is an amazing professor. I hope that I get to take another class by her. She is clear and answers all questions. I have taken her for 2 courses and both were awesome. Her biggest strength as an educator is her ability to break down difficult concepts into easy to understand chunks. She respects all her students and is very professional.
Salazar genuinely wants students to understand calculus conceptually. Her lectures were clear and lighthearted. Test questions were explicitly based on lectures, hw, or the extra credit review problems and avoided unneccessary amounts of algebra. She also tells you what will be on the test. The class was a gem, and I will def miss her.
Lots of Homework but professor Salazar chose good exercises as practice for exams. Course could definitely be tougher but she helps you have solid fundamentals, homework problems can be challenging but if you can get through those on your own time you can get good grades on test, she is awesome.
Will heavily count on participation in class, and will drop if you miss more than 3 classes. Weird teacher with a big ego that would laugh at students mid-lecture, I hated her with her fake smile.
