Jun Xu often uses words in the wrong way, and has multiple spelling and grammar errors on everything she posts. Every week she talks about the same topic; argumentation. We only talked about basics all quarter: genre, punctuation, how to make a word plural, spelling 'tricky' words. Only a good teacher for students who don't know English very well.

Mrs. Xu was awesome. Sometimes I am frustrated with her when she doesn't post the homework on time for you to turn it in if you want to do it early and you end up just having to wait around until a day before the due date, but she sincerely cares about what you have to say and if you say something that is incorrect, be prepared to explain yourself!

Her classes weren't the most exciting, as most of them were just long lectures. The homework assignments were easy and gave full credit as long as they were complete. What I had trouble with were her writing assignments, which weren't graded so leniently and had very unclear directions. What you get out of the class depends on the work you put in.

The class was straightforward and organized well. The work never becomes overwhelming but the class still requires effort and time put into it. From my experience, I found the grading to be lenient. Your grade is based mainly on 3 essays, a library research, a field research, and a cumulative final essay. I would recommend taking this class.

Professor Xu was great! She explained things very well and made sure the class understood every concept before moving forward. There were several papers but they were all spaced out well enough that even with college applications I felt like I had enough time to write each paper well and get a good grade.

This isn't meant to be a hateful comment, but Jun is incredibly hard to understand due to her accent. Her assignments are nearly impossible to understand, and if you ask for clarification you will only be more confused. English has always been my strong suit but I am getting zero's on assignment simply because I don't know what the assignment is.

I learned more than I expected because she provided very helpful feedback. She was patient and responded to my questions promptly. All assignments had grace periods, usually a week, and it was fine as long as I turned my work in during the grace period. All work led to the final paper, which was nice.

Slow paced for several weeks, before you're assigned papers back to back to back. The timeframe of two weeks for each paper feels very harsh: with all of these due near the end of the quarter with midterms and finals coming up, this class felt a lot more stressful than it needed to be.

This class was pretty seamless for an English class. The instructor was nice, and laid out instructions of what was expected. Only downsides is the amount of writing, but it is easier because all three papers you write in the quarter are on the same subject, so please make sure to choose an interesting subject.

The makes the class write 3 papers in the quarter instead of just working on one paper the entire quarter like other profs do. When it came to the final research paper she was very hands off and didn't provide a lot of instruction. Most of the assignments given in the class were pointless and didn't help with the essay. Classes are very boring.

Jun Xu made this course more difficult than it had to be. Instead of writing one paper throughout the quarter, she had us write three papers and wanted us to combine them. Her in-person classes were very unnecessary as her lectures covered topics we easily could've learned online instead of using that time to work on our papers and get input.
