She's strict not mean. Clear lectures, clear notes, stick to the syllabus. Follow the rule, you'll learn a lot.

She likes you if she sees that you're working hard and making an effort. She also took the time out of her busy schedule to help me out.

She is a very good teacher, doesn't like wasting time. She teaches what you need to know for the real world and prepares you very well for the exams. I still use her material as reference for other classes. Just do your homework and you'll do well.

Her coursepack is good for following the classes and for reference, but don't use it to study for the exams! I found her lectures quite clear, but one has to skim through the chapter or notes before class in order not to be overwhelmed. Never ask her to repeat (adm) info she just gave!

Okay, I will agree that she treats us like we are children. Its quite strange actually! Her course pack is useless...big waste of money! Dont buy it... Other than that, her midterms are easy, and there are no assignments, beware the final though... Overall, I think she's an average teacher.

Good prof overall. As you will see in other comments, she is very strict with class discipline and sometime too much so. It's understandable with a first year class room with over 40 students. I would recommend her if you are a serious student that wants to attend class.

Organized, clear, well-prepared; this woman knows what she is talking about and cuts out the crap. Her coursepack is very concise and useful and helps minimize note-taking. This is by no means an easy course but if you buy into Riley's system, you'll do great.

The course pack is pretty much useless for the final besides the essay questions. She teaches out of the coursepack yet most of the test questions come out of the book. Coursepack almost useless.

She is a fine teacher, but has one of a hell of an attitude. She's going to make you feel like a kindergarten child. She treats students as if we were in high school. However, she is very helpful with students, if you have any problem or questions. She responds to email very fast. An she corrects quizzes and exams super fast with good feedback

Very boring professor. Especially for the 2.45 hour lecture at 830. Had her for econ 201. Not too hard of a grader. She is an experienced investment banker so she does know her stuff very well. My suggestion is if u are able to pay very close attention in class, and comprehend well, take her. U dont need her notes. Just read the book. Sometims rude

For Comm308 don't bother buying her course pack (it is not updated) and half of the material in it is not part of Comm308 anymore. Do all the problems in the textbook. Do not expect her to go out of her way to explain every bit of the material in detail. Come to class with relevant questions, do the homework and you will be fine. She posts her course pack online for free, but you should bring it to class as some graphs need to be filled out. Do all problems and attend tutorials. She is a VERY fair marker.

Yes, she is tough but she is what a UNIVERSITY professor should be. The midterms are trying but not impossible . However, come to the final, you will be better prepared than the other sections. I would highly recommend her to all the serious students out there. Conversely, I would not recommend her to students who are just there to pass time.

Loved her. She is very reliable for emails and any questions you may have. She is also a reasonable marker. She has a hidden humour when she teaches and I really think she made the class fun. Yes, she is strict, but her rules are reasonable and have no hard feelings to follow. Fully recommend her. You'll appreciate her later as you do learn things.

Comm 308 is the hardest class in JMSB no matter who you take it with. She has her own course pack, and as long as you follow it, you do not need anything else. It is impossible for her to explain finance in 2 and a half hrs a week. You HAVE to practice on your own to do well. At least with her, you can understand when she speaks unlike many others.

Best teacher for this class. She is not an easy teacher and demands some work but if you dont slack off on your reading then you will do ok. She bends over backwards for her students. Try naming any other teachers like her who make custom notes of the textbook for the students, they don't exist. Her notes are clear and you will walk out if this class knowing your material. Not like other classes where you forget after the exam. Best teacher out there!!!!

EXCELLENT TEACHER FOR EXCELLENT STUDENTS! This professor TEACHES, and makes you UNDERSTAND. Her class is strict, but this is actually a GOOD thing. She keeps the class dead silent so no one gets distracted, WHICH SHOULD BE LIKE THAT FOR ALL UNIVERSITY CLASSES. If you do the work, and you listen in class and do her exercises, A+ is achievable. TAKE!

She's a good teacher. Cares about her students; re-worked our grading scheme to help people who struggled on the midterm. Her course pack is GOLD. No need for the textbook, really. I recommend attending lectures, but there's no attendance or anything. No laptops in class. Her quizzes are easy and straightforward. Common final was tricky though.

Miss Riley really is a wonderful teacher! She's really tough, but fair! She has principles and she abides by them. You can get an A+ in this class if you attend every lecture and LISTEN to what she says(and study!). If you have any questions just ask her! She's more than willing to help you during office hours or before/after class! Take her!!

June Riley conveys the material clearly and her textbook is very helpful. She knows what she is talking about. However, as a person she is horrible. I find that to be a teacher you need to not only be able to teach well but also be approachable which she is not. Avoid this teacher if you can but buy her textbook.

Took her a couple semesters ago. I remember she is definitely strict and kind of cold at times. Forget trying to bargain grades with her lol I skipped most of her classes, studied the coursepack, question bank and took SOS and I ended up with an A- or A overall. In the end she prepares you best for the final exam which is common to all sections.

A heavy course which demands considerable work. The teacher is very knowledgeable about the subject, however interactions with her can lead sometimes to unpleasant moments, especially when you ask for extra help.

I liked having June as a prof. She's very nice, and always wiling to help her students. Yes, she's strict, but there's a lot of material to cover in the class, and she just wants to get through it all. Lots of good practice in the course pack. Her quizzes are not that difficult, but her midterm was challenging. I felt very prepared for the final.

If you want to learn she's your pick .. She emphasizes on using formulas rather than a finance calculator .. But believe me when you finish the course you'll be happy .. her percentages of total grade is the best. 25 midterm 15 best out of two quizzes 50 final.. I was happy taking the course with her.. YOU wont regret taking the course with her ..

If you are in finance, take her! Very good teacher. She seems harsh at first but her explanations are clear and she is very good at preparing you for FINA 385 and 395.

If you want to learn you have to take the course with Prof. Riley. She knows her stuff. Once you finish the class you will find out that you have actually learned something and you will be able to read and interpret economic data. If you only care about the grade then I think there can be other easier options.

She has a rich background, but unfortunately she is very close to retirement, and thus she probably lost interest in being inspirational. She read the coursepack in front of us for the whole semester. The courses were boring except the three times she actually spoke to us about an interesting real-life economic topic. I hated finance before starting the class but she made the content very clear and easy to understand, she gives a lot of practice examples and past exams, she offers the possibility to get feedback on quizzes and midterms. I would definitely take her again !

She's by far one of the best teacher. 100% Recommending her, although she is a bit annoying with her copyright obsession and the onlin book sucks. Do your readings and you should do good.

Here is the deal, June Riley is one of the best if not the best teacher at Concordia. If you are taking the class for the grades then find another teacher, but if you really want to learn something from the class, then you won't find a better teacher.

June Riley is great. Teaches the subject well and knows what she is talking about. COMM 220 is heavy and requires lots of practice and reading. June Riley has a course pack available in the bookstore which will prepare you well for all testing. Make sure to go over textbook problems to complete your study.

I had June Riley for comm 308. Her course pack is magicc so u would barely need to read the book. Replies to e-mail very fast and stays after class if u have Q's. The 2 midterms are very doable if u u follow her coursepack and do the suggeted problems . She will prepare u well for Fina classes

would definitely recommend if you're taking comm 220. her course pack is a gem( it literally contains everything you need to study for the exam only). I guess the only bad thing about her is that she may be a bit rude (no laptops allowed in her lectures btw) but she's a great teacher and a very good grader

I had Professor Riley at both John Abbott and Concordia and anyone who skips the chance to take her does themselves a great disservice. She is strict at times, almost draconian, but she really prepares her students for the exams and wants them to succeed. Whatever the course, her coursepacks are superb reading material, moreso than the textbook.

i was doing a full time accounting internship and had 3 other classes which where not easy but if you put in the work and pay close attention to her examples and practice 1-2 hours every day you will get an A. I just did not have enough time.

COMM308/COMM220 her course packs are a God sent. Find, read and underline it. Book Stop She built these packs for us to do better by being able to read the material in plain english.
