Do yourself a favor and take a different teacher. Art Appreciation with her somehow becomes a tedious, boring, chore. Her class is very poorly organized and she squeezes the creativity and fun out of art. Indecipherable, horrible, a terrible experience.
Took her for Art appreciation...was a very difficult class would not suggest taking her for on-line class

This course was much more writing intensive than I expected it to be. I took her course online and found her outline very easy to follow.
I'd say this class online was neither easy nor hard. There is a lot of writing, but that's easy for me. She's too unorganized. She lost my project and didn't believe me until she finally found it. Very unprofessional.
I took this class online and it was the WORST online course ever. The professor asked us to do some outrageous assignments...some didn't even pertain to art history and it's a lot of work: writing, viewing strange websites, and even drawing. Take someone else for this course.
I just took her class online and she does not always answer questions clearly, and there is a lot of writing, but you don't have to be a professoinal writer/artist, just try and you will get a good grade.
I took this class online and the instructor was "RUDE" AND "UNWILLING" to help when I asked her to assist me w/the 5 writing styles for the Art essays. MOst times she ignore my emails and if she answered, her tone was condesending. My friend took the class and was treated rudely also. Although I made a "B" in her class, I do not recommend her class
June Worst Rude.. Defiantly not enough people skill in my opinion. It was hard for me to get an understanding for what she wanted in the writing styles. When I asked questions she responded rudely.
for the love of GOD do not take this for fun...the online version was complete hell and i haven't done that much work for a single class EVER. I haven't learned anything about art..she makes it more of an English course with all the writing she makes you do. Her assignments are confusing and the WebCT setup is unneccisarily complicated.
She'd better find something else to do instead of teaching. Her class is harder than hell.Got an A, but it took me too much time for this.Yes, she is RUDE. She did hurt my feeling when she answered emails rudely. However, her grades are fair and the tests are the same for every semester.Should not take her if you don't have the answers for her tests
Took distance ed class & it was ok.Alot of reading.Quizzes are easy & come right out of the book.If you do the reading than you will do good.Very little hands on "art" in this class.I guess thats why UH wont take it anymore as a transfer. They will only take it if you get an HCCS associates.UH requires Art 1300, not appreciation, fundaments of art.
Very easy class but very rude. I agree with the last comment she replies to e-mails very rudley, she ticked me off a couple of times. My final points were 449 which is a B and she would not give me 1 point so that I could have 450 pts which was an A what a Bi**h.
She is a rude professor. Not very nice in her emails. I would not recommend her as a teacher. She is very unprofessional and not very helpful.
This class was tedious! Her class requires a lot of writing. No hands on! Only one hands on project which is good if you are just taking the class for credit. I warn you a lot of work! Quizzes and test online and she can be rude. You can overlook that though.
Work hard; play hard. She grades fair.
Online class, totally. It was more work than my other three classes. Not a blow off class! "11 essay papers, 1 research paper, 2 peer reviews, hands-on project, a big textbook to read, four multiple choice quizzes over the readings, and 20-60 minutes per week viewing art online. Subject matter was great. I learned a lot and enjoyed this class."
Guys, contact me if you need help on weekly assignments, tests and projects for this ARTS 1301 class!!! DONT NEED 2 WORK HARD,GET AN A JUST FOR A REASONABLE PRICE!!! Email me: [email protected]

This is the worst class I have ever taken. I took the class because it was a chore requirement, but I would never take the class or the teacher again. Professor Woest is very rude. When she responds to an e-mail she is very condescending in her responses. If you have a choice, take someone else and steer clear of her. Too much work for the class
She's a horrible communicator.I took a DE course with her and everytime I sent her an email she never replied validly. The response was always vague.
Wow, I am late I took this during summer 07, because I thought it would b a lil easier..NOT!Lots of hmwk, no reviews,rd txtbk,LNG/HRD tests Doesn't answer ur ??s fast enough(stds helped stds here) Very hard on reprts. Many field trips(Gas is crzy)Deadlines insane. Keeps u on ur toes. So all in all I still got a B, soo much 4 gray hairs..lol
Great class
I learned alot. The Field Trips (all virtual - no gas!) are great because they are artists that are alive right now and doing wacky, cool things. This class is up to date and zany, and fun!
She is actually very flexible. I had a hard time turning in my assignment on time and she didnt punish me for that. You do have to do your work. I dont regret taking her class at all.
You can get an easy A in this class. All it requires is dedication and hard work. The teacher was quick to respond to any messages sent to her. I took her for 2 different art classes and got a B on both. I definitely recommend her.
GREAT ONLINE CLASS!! SHE'S A BIT RUDE & REQUIRES LOTS OF WORK AND DEDICATION BUT IT'S AN EASY "A"! IF YOU DO ALL HER ASSIGNMENTS & KEEP UP YOU'LL GET AN "A" FOR SURE! NO BRAINER!!!
there is no way you should leave this class with out an A. The quiz are super easy. The question come straight out of the book. Ill warn you though this is won of those classes that are so easy that u blow it because you procrastinated. BUt you should get an A
I took her for both art appreciation and art history. The class is very interesting. The museum project is great as well. The assignments and tests are fun. You can get an easy A or B as long as you do all the assignments.
the class was pretty easy but she gives very complicated instructions. the whole DE class structure is very odd. ive never taken a DE class as confusing as hers. did not like peer grading evaluation. i took an art class, not an english grading class.
You will need the book to answer five chapters worth of unit questions. I am confused as how she grades, and I would recommend taking another form of art.
This teacher is very hard lies to you about grade states one thing does another does not answer your questions make you ask other students that are lost to. alot of work not a normal art class half of my class has complained and is behind and grade av. has dropped.
This class is a trip, I was lost the whole semester. Her setup is confusing I was posting assignments in wrong places. I was behind the whole time, don't ask anyone for help b/c chances are they're behind also! Did not post grades until after the drop date. I've should have taken a MUSIC class.....
OK class but a bit confusing. Teacher would not clairfy on assignment and send an e-mail but would reply rudely. You have to turn to other students for help .I had to fellow students call me for help. Basically lost all semester.
Took this online. I dont know why the other posters are saying it's an easy A if you do all the assignments. By far this is hard and you'll probably barely pass by the skin of your teeth if youre an average student. The museum assignment is extremely difficult and the book wont help you much in completing it. Run! Run far away if you like your GPA!
The class is very confusing in the beginning but you can make an "A" or "B". The assignments aren't hard but she doesn't grade the work until the end of the semester. The teacher responds quickly to emails but she is very rude.
The worst class and teacher so far. Takes forever to respond to emails and is very rude. She lost my mailed in assignment and found it after a week of me crying, stressing and emailing. My first C so far. If only I knew-I would have never taken her class.
I got a B in her class. I think the class was ok. It was my first online class. The quizes are long, but the answers are all in the book. (Hint: Use your glossary) The museum projects were fun. This is not a class you can procrastinate in. I procrastinated on the museum projects and didn't do the extra credit,if I had, then I would have gotten an A
Class was bit confusing, she take a while to respond to emails and she does come off a bit rude. The work is not hard at all. I wouldn't recommend taking the class even though it is not hard but you want to feel you have a willing to help professor and she is not. She is fair but no need for attitude.
I did this class online. Be prepared to work. The work is not hard, mostly opinion and art research, but there is so much of it. I actually spent more hours on this class than my biology and chemistry classes. Many discussion boards to keep up with and the teacher is slow to reply to email. Grading is fair and an A is easy.
This was my 1st online class & I hated it! I barely got a B & I'm an A student normally. She uses the departmental tests and sometimes the answers aren't even covered in the book edition that she requires. She hardly interacts with students at all, and waits until the very last week to show all your grades. I do not recommend her!
Worst online class I have ever taken. The assignments are confusing and scattered. Professor does not bother to grade until the last week. She is very rude to students. I am typically an A student and this class is a nightmate. I would NOT advise anyone to take her course. Several other students in my class have has issues with her.
I will be the first to say this Professor is not warm and fuzzy. If you need someone to hold your hand and tell you every detail of what to do find another class. You have to be dedicated and you have to be able to follow directions. I just finished the class and made a 92 and I did not even do the extra credit. It is an easy A if u do the work
HORRIBLE!!!! She assigns WAY too much work for an online course, and on top of that her instructions and grading are so confusing. She takes a long time on actually posting grades. If you have any interest in art, DON NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! she will make you hate it with all of the pointless assignments.
I took Art History II as an online course. There is a lot of work involved in this course (including 3 museum visits), but it's nothing challenging. Everything is spelled out in the syllabus. Tests were open book and doable if you read. She was very good about keeping me updated with my grades. I got an A (97) without doing the extra credit.
The quantity of graded material is a bit excessive as compared to other courses taken. I stongly suggest getting the online MyArtsLab component, it will help. If you have great reading skills and memory recall, this course should be an easy A/B. Test questions were TestGen from textbook, but some were ambigious. Final was not as brutal as expected.
She is clearly passionate about the subject she teaches, but so much so that her class is a little ridiculous. I participated in every bit of the participation assignments and still recieved a 60 that wasn't posted until the end of the semester along with all the other grades. (last week) I got a D in the class and I usually make A's and B's.
There is a lot of busy work, do not fall behind bc then you'll end like me doing everything in the last week. Quizzes are super easy, not tests, instructions are not very clear bc there's so much to do, and the blackboard sucks, you need to check the class every day and participate.
One would think this was a writing class not an art class. I wrote less in Comp. I and Comp.II combined than I did in this class. If you like writing papers that are so micromanaged it stuffs your creativity then this is the class for you! I learned nothing about art!
She was very helpful, responded to emails quickly. If you do the quizzes, and just follow the syllabus, you will be totally fine. There is not too much work in her class. Got a B without putting in too much effort. Take her :)
This class was more difficult then I thought. I managed to pull a B. She has very detail assignments, and her test are extrememly detail and difficult. She uses the book and knows the book as if she is the author.
The material is not difficlt and indeed it is an easy A. What kills you in this class is understanding the instruction. If you take the time to understand all the assignments and the due dates, you will be successful.
If you are looking for someone who dose not care about you are respones to your email and ask the class teach you the lesson plans then June Woest is the right techer for you. If bad grades are what you like, then take J.W class.ART 1301
online art: I did feel like I was on an easter egg hunt for assign instructions but the work is not overwhelming. I could not afford a book so I used online for everything. As for writing, it's NOT a lot, about 4 sent. per little film. Grades towards the end were slow, that also ruffled my feathers but overall be patient =A plus she gives ex. cred
Didn't care for the class as how she taught it. Barely any interaction with students.
She is the WORSE professor I have ever had. She's not helpful at all, very confusing and does not teach well or explains anything at all. I would not recommend taking this class or atleast not with this professor.
very unclear, expects a lot when she has noinstructions
Wish I had found this site before taking her class. She is slow with grading & very condescending. She says work @ your own speed then send out mass email saying if you haven't turned in an assignment you're a procrastinator. Asking for help or clarification is like hitting your head against a wall. Save yourself a headache & pick another teacher.
EASY A. The set up was very confusing, her assignments were not the most clear, A LOT of writing involved, but overall a very easy class. No textbook, like 4 tests that had the same questions each time, mild classmate interaction. Class is pretty worthless, you won't learn anything, but it fulfills a req and an easy A so you could do worse.
Her course followed the syllabus exactly. Very easy required course and informative. The assignments were thought out and designed in an outside the box fashion. If you follow the guidelines that she provides you within each assignment, you will succeed. Overall, as good an art professor will get for an online course.
Prof. W understands online. She provides plenty of helpful links and resources to study. You need to read the assignments very carefully and make sure you ask for clarification. W is not the quickest to answer at times but she organizes students well in groups. With full understanding you should have no problem to do well in this class.
She not a good Teacher This was a online course for me the class was not hard but with her it's going to be. you can post online on time and do all the work on time she grade hard you almost need to do the extra CREDIT WORK TO PASS HER CLASS She's just not A GOOD TEACHER!!!!!.
Moderate Writing, Art Projects, Class setup was sort of confusing, but it is easy, and a lot of work... Textbook not required in this course. Recommend Her.
This is absolutely the WOEST(not a typo) teacher I have experienced so far. The online course format is a disaster. Extra credit is a waste. Did 20 pts worth and got a dismal 5 pts. If you've signed up for this class, drop it fast. You will have the WOEST experience ever.
Easy online class and Professor Woest responds quickly. Follow the syllabus and keep up or else you will drown in work. Nothing is due till the end but recommended grade dates are in place to keep you on track. MAKE SURE TO CHECK AND KEEP TRACK OF YOUR GRADES! She forgot to input some of my grades.
I took art appreciation with Woest and it was such an easy A that I took her for ENGL 1302 as well. As you'd expect, it's writing paper after paper after paper. Boring, but not difficult. No complaints. Wasn't very interested or dedicated but still pulled a B.
No textbook needed, no test given, each week there's a project
"HORRIBILE TEACHER" Never take her again
Prof. Woest is not good at giving directions, clear or otherwise. She has a very disorganized and discombobulated style of teaching, which means basically she tells you in very cryptic code to read the directions for the assignment and when you have questions, just to ask. When you do ask all she does is direct you back to the instructions. Ugh.
Most of the class I had no idea what we were supposed to do. She isnt that good at explaining. It helps if you just ask her to clarify or if you tell her what you understood for confirmation. We had a lot of weekly assignments. For the final, it was a group art project. Pain of a class but easy class
Im currently taking her Art Intro Art 1301 online class this semester 1st 8 weeks. Had I listened to the rest of the reviews, i would have missed out on a good professor. she actually communicate back with you and tries her best to get you to understand what she expects. Best online course i' v taken so far. Easy A, Read Directions, Organized
After reading so many NEGATIVE feedback about Professor Woest, I want to straighten out some facts: Procrastination is your enemy in her class. She is very detailed with instructions (confusing you WAIT until the last minute), Easy A (LOTS of posts and mini-projects - easy, but time consuming), No Textbook (Lots of videos to watch online). NO TEST
Prof. Woest is very organized and clearly states what needs to be done. I took the 8week online summer course and she has an outline of what's due each week. The only thing that's hard about this class is the amount of online videos you have to watch for credit. They're time consuming so you need to be very motivated especially for weekly deadlines
Her class is really easy. You need to show up to class to do art projects and get an easy 100. She assigns IQ quizzes online that are totally easy and you can get all the attempts you need to get that 100. You can pass this class with an easy A.
I did not like her because she was very reluctant to offer info if was posted it on canvas. Now I understand if it is general information that can easily be found, then ok, we'll find the info, but if our questions cannot easily be sought out via canvas and need the prof to step in, she was still reluctant to do so and we fended for ourselves
She is really big on attendance so be there on time, takes things a little bit serious , she is nice but she can come off as condescending at times. Group projects for this class is big so choose your group wisely or be ready to do all of the assignment by yourself.
I just took her summer 8 week hybrid class. Her work is fairly easy, she doesnt grade too hard. We did 4 design analysis & 1 group project & quizzes online NO FINAL NO BOOK NOR TEST. I made a A in her class. Btw she doesnt like ppl leaving early or shell count you absent :/
She was a good teacher but sometimes with an attitude. Overall easy A
SHE NEVER RESPONDS TO ANYONE. The class consists of many quizzes and assignments that are fairly easy but the PSA poster due at the end of the semester is HORRIBLE!! She is supposed to give feedback but she never responds to you, and if she does I promise you it's nothing that will help you improve on your project. June Woest more like June WORST!
I was hesitant about this course because of some of the past reviews, but after completing it I had to provide my experience. Professor Woest cares that her students develop a strong foundation for art appreciation, and she is more than fair with her grading. I really enjoyed the fact that her feedback on projects were genuine and sincere.
Ms. Woest is an amazing teacher. Her course really made me rediscover my creativity. Assignments were always very clear and easy but challenged you to think outside of the box. Read the articles and watch the videos and you'll pass. She genuinely loves her students and what she is teaching and you can tell in her feedback.
Professor Woest was an excellent teacher. She made us think outside the box and brought art along for the ride. I loved how she mixed art with current events.
I took a hybrid class but classes were mainly in person. Attendance was mandatory and necessary due to class assignments and to have clarity on the projects due at the end of the week.
Prof Woest is very critical. Instead of helping you, its always "google it". Instructions were not clear at times. Only took the class because it was mandatory for graduation. I am glad I never have to deal with this again!!
I was a bit hesitant to take her course because of the reviews but I don't regret taking it! She lets you know what's expected and provides examples. If you don't understand something just reach out , she will clarify.
This professor took some getting used to. She is very tough on grading but did not always provide clear instructions. Just talk to her IN PERSON and you will get what you need. She's not terrible.. by the end of the semester she was okay. I just think she wishes people actually wanted to take her class not just cause its required.
Do Not Take Her. I understand she's an artist, but she cannot expect me to be one as well. She thinks we're Picassos & Digital Artists. Its an Art Appreciation Class not How-To-Become-An-Artist Class. One of my major class was cancelled so I had to pick a random elective, & I wish I paid attention to her Ratings. Please save yourself from trouble.
Took her last spring semester, so this is a bit late. The class itself wasn't necessarily hard. As long as you pay attention to when she's lecturing and turn in work that's shows some effort you'll be okay. It was her that was the issue. Somehow always had an attitude and didn't like helping students.
self-important with a nasty attitude; june is easily the worst professor I've taken yet. Besides her overall lack of interests with the students, she also exhibits a sense of overall displeasure with her life, and inflicts it upon her students, and she has an ever-growing pile of work for you to do. unless you hate yourself, do NOT take her class.
Promoting ai during a college art appreciation course and then basing your final on how creative you can make a shape is really fun.
She talked about Mexican American history and she turned around and pointed to all the hispanic kids in the room and said "you people should know this" with a straight face, not everyone in the room was Mexican. She also put on a video about slaves and while it was playing she made eye-contact with the only black person in the room. Very rude.
She gives a few assignments per week i took the online course and it was easy pretty straightforward. A 50 for things not turned in
