Illest teacher ever! Incredibly intelligent, despite calling a lot of minor details "those thingies". Knows a lot of sociology with an emphasis in critical theorists. Gives the simplest, most thought provoking, assignments ever! All work is acceptable as long as it answers his questions in whatever creative, non-conventional way thought of.

So funny and passionate. He might be alittle intimidating and unorganized to some in the beginning, but don't worry, he is a great teacher. Wacky and fun lectures. Very understanding and open-minded...helps prepare for exams and if you don't do as well as you'd hoped, you can always talk to him. TAKE HIM.

Best teacher at state. he is very enthusiastic, keeps course content and class discussions interesting, a real eye-opening course, he tells great stories. if you get the chance to take one of his classes you will not regret it. attendance not mandatory but you will want to go to class. I wish all my other teachers taught like him.

Choi is one of the best teachers @ at state. He's very enthusiastic about teaching, and opens your eyes up to some corrupt stuff going down in the government & society. He tends yo yell a lot and go into verbal tirades, but i thought they were hilarious and also educational. No Seriously!! Not a lot of homework, and his test's are relatively easy.

Professor Choi (Pronounced Cheh) loves teaching. However, he gives the majority of his office hours to his grad students who are working on thesis', which sucked for me because i was lost in theory...other than that, easy A if you read and understand the "2 Question" midterm and exam ;) Thanks Choi!

Professor Choi was one of the few inspiring professors out there. He actually wants to teach. I wouldn't call him easy, he expects you to use your brain. But it's not hard either. There is two test. 3 novels you'll need to read and random selection from a text book to read.

OUTSTANDING! One of the best prof. at State. HE was clear, consice,funny,and smart. Highly recommended! Three exmas, all essays and short answers. Don't worry though cuz this guy makes it super easy, he tells you what you expect on the exam. He doesnt grade the exams though so get along with your TA.

Its a pretty easy course, extremely interesting and there's little reading. Sadly, I missed several lectures and got a B in the class, but it really got me thinking.

Dr. Choi is super entertaining. Its like a 500 student class thats a talk show. Its impossible to not pay attention in his class because hes so freaking entertaining. This teacher is one of my favorite teachers at state! He not only is an easy teacher and clear when teaching the material, but he is inspiring and makes us want to change the world. There are around 3 tests and they are are written, but he tells you the questions ahead of time. It is an easy A. He wants his students to succeed. LOVE HIM!

My favorite class at SDSU! His lectures are very interesting and i never knew Sociology could be fun. A midterm, final, and breakout session make up your grade. Very easy A if you go to lecture, which is something you wont want to miss anyway :) Would definitely recommend!

I loved this class, it was literally the reason why I woke up in the morning! Choi is an amazing professor, who does nothing less than inspire you every class, as well as get a few laughs. I didn't open my book and just took notes in class, and I got 100% on my midterm and expect a high grade on my final. If you can get him, TAKE HIM!

It's stuff you know in the world already and even though they want you to know vocab, how certain things link, and people in history, they simplify perfectly so you have a grasp on the information. :)

You have to take GEs so you might as well take good ones. Earily one of the most enthusiastic professors at SDSU. He tries hard to incorporate other people in the lecture and the TA's are wonderful. I had Stephanie Laufenberg as my TA. She did a wonderful job.

This class is super awesome and totally worth it during summer session. We had two assignments and you can make them up so it's not that hard. I did two poetry pieces and got a excellent grade. HIGHLY SUGGEST TAKING THIS CLASS!

One of the best and most inspirational teachers I've had in my college career. He yells a lot, but in a good way...except for when he spits. If you are a SOC major, definitely take him. If not, then definitely take him. All you have to do is listen with an open mind.

Choi is very passionate about what he teaches. He is a captivating and hilarious lecturer. Attendance isn't mandatory to learn, although he goes over everything on the tests. Grading is done by the GTA's and is really simple. Just 2 tests, a couple open ended projects and that's it. Even he says it is hard not to do well in his class.

Choi's lectures seriously made my week. He's very interested in what he talks about and engages the class well. Very funny. Class is easy if you do your readings, which aren't that bad. Your grade is 70% midterm/final and 30% breakout session so make sure to go to your class. I think EVERYONE should take this course before graduating.

You can tell he really is passionate about Sociology and wants his students to be thinking about the issues of today. Seems to be a nice dude, I just didn't agree with everything he said. There are two tests, both are essays. I did surprisingly really well in the class. Just take really good notes. There's not much reading involved, which I liked.

BEST Professor at SDSU great teaching style extremely clear & organized. He gets right to the point & does it in such way that info sticks in your head. Possibly the best professor at SDSU! Professor Choi is incredibly inspiring, knowledgeable and passionate. I took him for 101 loved his class so much I declared a Soc minor and took him for 403. Classes are NOT difficult and are incredibly interesting and inspiring! I truly wish his classes were mandatory for all students. A wonderful experience!

Prof Choi was great! His lectures were empowering and interesting, however if you are the type of person that is used to lectures on a powerpoint, this is not the class for you. His lectures are based off a topic and he just talks about, so attendance is mandatory if u want 2 pass exam! WARNING, don't get TA Lisa Riccardi here pop quizzes are hard!

Dr. Choi is one of my favorite professors at SDSU. I've become more of a critical thinker now. You can tell how much he cares about his students and society in general. He didn't require anyone to purchase textbooks for the class, he provided the readings for free. Class was very interesting, fun, exciting, and hilarious!

The class really isn't that difficult and it's all about the big concepts, not memorizing a bunch of little facts. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!

Jung freaking Choi. The most passionate and intelligent professor at SDSU. Knows his stuff. Take this class, it will change your life and outlook on society. They all grade super easy because grades in their eyes are stupid, it's about education, not faking it until you make it.

I attended one of his lectures on a whim. Best decision I ever made and I immediately crashed the class. He is one of those profs that maintained 95% attendance every lecture and it was all because he kept us inspired and willing to learn. I learned so much this semester and he inevitably changed my life.

Choi is the best. Amazing lectures! I learned so much from him; things that are important to our day to day basis. Such a great teacher, no homework, just reading, 4 quizzes, 2 midterms and then a final. Be aware that there isn't much in the grade book, so do well on quizzes/midterms and you should pass! Lectures not mandatory, but so worth it!!!

Great class, interesting lectures

Choi's lectures are very interesting and something I looked forward to 2 times a week. The small section quizzes were usually based on his lectures as well as the readings so you should really pay attention. His energy and passion made it very inspirational and relevant to every day life. I would definitely recommend this class for SOC101

Choi is one of the funniest, most real professors I have ever had. He will have you crying from laughter in every lecture. He only has a midterm and final which are both very easy if you come to class and pay attention. He teaches you want he believes and is very open for debate during class if you disagree. Great professor, highly suggest.

This class was great and Choi was probably my favorite professor that I have taken. He is there to help you. But be ware that your grade is solely based on your TA. If you have a tough TA like I did you are screwed. I had to work my ass off to get a C+ and keep in mind I went to a prestigious school in San Francisco and never got a C in my life.

This class was challenging, but I actually learned a lot about society. His lectures are very eye-opening and keep you engaged in what you're learning. Go to class and do the readings. The tests will be hard if you don't read. An amazing class overall.

Choi is so funny and a great professor. He has really interesting lectures. I genuinely enjoyed attending his class. It isn't really mandatory to go to class but it is good to go to catch some stuff that might be on the midterm and final. Do some of the readings too because that stuff definitely ends up on the midterm and final too.

I actually took Prof. Choi(he's my most favorite prof.) in 2015. His lectures are awesome so you will not get bored, I would look forward in going to his class. His class give importance of using creativity that's why there's the media analysis. So take it, I wish I could take Soc. again .

Choi was an awesome lecturer, I always made sure to go to class because he actually made the learning fun and relatable to our own lives! His tests also weren't extremely hard and he really just wants everyone in his class to pass.

Easy class, the tests are worded in simple language. Go to class, even if it's not mandatory he talks a lot about the important stuff. He is funny so it's fun to go to anyways. The discussion section is also really easy.

Dr. Choi is a great professor. This class is awesome for the behavioral science GE credit. You don't really have to go to the large lectures to pass, but listening to Jung is worth it. Very easy class. It is heavily based on liberal views, but the logic is solid. Great class!

Class is overall very simple. Only homework in the class is reading, hi is a very funny and caring teacher and tries not to make the lectures boring, usually very entertaining, highly recommend this class.

Hands down my favorite professor at state. I'm so happy that I took his class during my first semester in college because it became that class that I knew I was going to enjoy no matter what. Dr. Choi is amazing. The class is easy. Make sure you attend lecture because some of the test questions come specifically from lecture rather than the textbook. Make sure you read. It's very simple. Class is divided into a midterm, a final, and an activity class with some small (easy) papers.

Dr. Choi is the most passionate and inspirational teacher that I have had in my entire life. His class was amazing and he really changed my perspective of society. I only got graded on 2 tests and 1 assignment for the class, which were all easy. If you take this class you will not regret it. He taught lessons that I'll carry with me for forever.

If you're taking SOC 101, you HAVE to take it with Choi. His class made me glad I chose Sociology as my major. He changes the way you look at society and you'll really regret it if you don't take his class. Also, if you can, choose Lococo for your small section; 2 quizzes & 1 extra credit. Choi is awesome. Attendance at lectures is not mandatory. He doesn't use any powerpoints and I took no notes in his class and passed with an A. There is a midterm and a final which mostly make up your grade. For small section I would recommend Funches, she pretty much gives you the midterm and final questions and answers before the test.

I enjoyed going to his lectures bc he was really funny! Makes you look at our society in a different & interesting perspective. He knows what he's talking about and you needed to attend the lectures to get an A on both exams. Small lectures were POINTLESS.

Choi's lectures were so engaging and definitely made me think differently about society! His class was pretty easy for the most part. One midterm and one final. I barely read from the textbook b/c material is straight forward. Attendance is not mandatory but I enjoyed going to every class. He's awesome and funny, you won't regret it!!

Even though his lectures aren't really organized, he knows what he is talking about and makes you think. There are 2 books that you need, especially for the exams, and another, Pedagogy of the Oppressed, which you can find online.

TAKE CHOI!! it will change your life i promise. He's super funny and very passionate. You will learn a lot in this class. You only have a midterm and then another test at the end (second test isn't cumulative). Just show up to class because his lectures are important. Make sure you do the readings too because some test questions come from there.

Chio is absolutely hilarious. His lectures are kind of pointless, I feel that he just rants about a lot of things but questions about them did show up on the tests. Attendance is not mandatory but I didn't mind going. He's very nice and an easy A.

Dr. Choi aims to awaken his students. He discusses our current society and the issues occurring. I loved going to his class, and he incorporates a good sense of humor while staying on topic. It not only was academically beneficial to take this class, but it also helped me improve as a person. There isn't any homework. He just wants to enlighten.

If you do the readings you will pass but if you show up and engage in big and small lecture he will give you an A. He doesnt care if you memorize certain things so much as you get the overall concept and passes that on to his TAs. I really like his lectures. I learned a lot about society and also was able to reflect on my own viewpoints. He is passionate about what he talks about. The only downside about him is the few grade points you get even with the small section. So do well on the tests and don't even take it lightly if you suck at taking educated guesses.

Sociology with Prof Choi was really the only class I could skip this semester, but I wouldn't want to because his lectures were just that amazing! Sociology 101 with Choi was honestly so entertaining, inspirational and interesting. Dr. Choi genuinely cares about his students and the content he is teaching. Majority of the grade is based on your performance on the Midterm and Final, but if you show up to lectures, pay attention and read the assigned readings, you'll do fine.

The small section is worth 30% of your grade and my TA (Paul) went over the readings during that time so if you don't read the book, at least go to the small section once a week.

Choi somehow makes large lectures educational and personable. Attendance is not taken but a lot of what he goes over is on the tests. Your workload experience is heavily dependent on your TA. I had Kim Gan and she wasn't great but we only had a short paper each week on the readings. I loved Choi's lectures and would highly recommend his class

Theres a seperate class time which will be with a TA, depending who you get you'll have different things assigned. I did not really like this course, it was difficult. I love this professor so much! I actually wanted to go to this class, his lectures are so inspirational. He was able to clearly articulate the learning material and added his own style to it. Very passionate. TAs are pretty much in charge of the grades so the amount of work depends on who your TA is.

Dr. Choi is such a passionate professor and his lectures are easy to follow along. There are only a few assignments included in the gradebook plus two main exams, but as long as you attend each lecture and take notes, the tests shouldn't be a problem.

I took his online summer class and had very few readings per week and one or two weekly lectures which were always very interesting. The grade is based solely on two exams but very manageable.

I really love this class. The lecture is really easy to understand, with the head TA writing notes as Professor Choi lectures. No assignments, but there is a discussion class. Just attend and you'll get full points.

He is actually so good, all of his lectures are so interesting and you will learn so much from him and not be bored. He is very inspirational and makes an effort to care about everyone in the class even when it is a class of like 400 people, he asks names and makes an effort to know you. SO GOOD best professor I have had !

I have nothing bad to say about this professor at all, he's super entertaining and makes lectures super engaging and fun at the same time. His sociology 101 is simple and straight forward, and an easy A if you just show up and listen.

So passionate about what he teaches, never met a teacher this excited and motivated to teach in my entire life!

Dr. Choi is one of the most passionate professors I've ever had. He makes class worth looking for as his lectures are so interesting. There's a bit of reading in the class but TAs are so underrated and nice they will help you to understand what's going on.

My actual GOAT. He somehow remembered everyone's name in a 500-student lecture, and cares about every one of them. VERY passionate about what he does, and it shows. His lectures were entertaining, albeit a little loud. Do the readings; they do actually matter for tests. He very quickly became my favorite class. TAKE HIM!!

Professor Choi was absolutely amazing. He actually cares about what he's teaching and for driving 3 hours to and from LA to teach just shows his dedication considering he's basically never canceled a lecture. The mid term and final questions are pretty straight forward but just make sure you know definitions and characteristics and do the readings.

Professor Choi is probably one of the best professors I have had. He makes lecture super engaging and fun because of how passionate he is. Attendance isn't mandatory for large lecture but is for the discussion classes. This class is pretty easy if you just pay attention and the tests are a little heavier but are easy. TA's are pretty chill too.

Dr. Choi is an AMAZING professor. I truly have never seen someone who is so passionate about ensuring his students learn and retain the concepts he teaches. He always had positive energy and made every class feel engaging and meaningful. His dedication to ensuring we truly understood the material went far beyond what most professors do.

he is so funny and it is so clear that he cares about his students. the class is pretty easy but does teach you a lot. your grade is based off a midterm, a final, and small section attendance. tests are very easy if you just listen and take notes. large lecture attendance isn't enforced but why would u want to miss it. it's hilarious

Professor. Choi brought so much value to my education. The readings were sometimes long, but he explains all of them in large lecture. This was an awesome (and easy) class that actually made me excited to learn. There's 2 exams, both worth 35 points but the content is easy to learn as it's more about concepts/principles than specifics. 10/10 class.
