Very good, easy grading and test are super easy.
Lee has NO experience as a teacher. She doesn't use what she teaches when she grades so it's hard to understand what you're doing wrong or right. Travel at your own risk.
Let me put it this way: if I had a choice between a schizophrenic monkey and this professor to teach me linear algebra, I'd pick the monkey in a heartbeat.
She tends to want students to use very specific methods to solve problems. Has a accent and doesn't make herself clear in lectures. Spends 2 lectures just for reviews before the test. All in all she tries very hard to help students who attend to class and work hard. You will be so lost if you miss class. Lot of ways to make up grades.
teacher is very soft spoken and tends to mumble as she teaches. explanations can be hard to understand at times but there are tons of examples and reviews before tests. gives more hw than other 2300 teachers.
This is what I remembered when she taught the class. One One One Three Four Two. What? I don't remember what I actually learned in this class haha. She doesn't explain much. You need to do homework and study on your own to succeed in this class. Tread safely. Exams are straight off the review guides. DO them and you will get good grades.
Don't do it unless you feel like teaching yourself, all she does is regurgitate textbook examples on to the board, and has trouble answering student questions.
Good Teacher, will help you in office hours, sometimes hard to understand and the class pace is a little fast, you need to stay on top of homework. Do the study guides for success in exams.
Professor was very helpful but the topic & book are difficult. I was a regular during office hours to help understand the homework and prep for exams. Class pace fast, and she's soft spoken, so sit in front row, near center. It had been 5 years since my last math course, but Lee helped me pass. Generous partial grader on exams.
She is super easy!Take her!!!her exams are very similar to the reviews and if you can do those, you should be able to make an A! if you maintain an average of A you will be exempt from the final. she gives out quizzes every friday and they benefit your grade and she gives a lot of home work but it'll help you prepare, you will use your textbook a lot
Very good professor that goes out of her way to make sure you do well in the class. To me one of the better incentives is to make an A in the class in order to opt out of the Final Exam.
Jung Lee makes the class easy to make an A in but she talks very quiet and she is not very good at explaining a lot of the material.
The subject itself is pretty hard. Overall she isn't a hard professor, but if you don't study and don't do your work prior to class, it'll be pretty hard for you. She has an accent so it might be a little hard to understand, but you can ask questions and she will clear up everything she said. Great professor, but pretty hard subject.
The examples she does in class help alot on homework. Her exams are straight from homework questions and the review sheet. You can skip the final if you're happy with your final grade.
She does not teach well at all. Homework is a lot more difficult than what is taught in class. Did not learn much in lectures. Better off watching youtube videos of the subjects to get a better grasp of the content. Not Recommended.
Horrible. Class was not taught well. Concepts were not delivered effectively. Had a really hard time in this class despite attending all lectures. Needed to learn outside the class.
Class attendance is mandatory (quizzes on one day and homework due on the other). Decent at teaching, one good thing is that the reviews are nearly identical to the tests.
The class was fair. The first couple weeks seemed like a review of calculus. She sped through some topics later on though. She is a great professor and knows what she is talking about. She speaks a bit softly, so make sure to sit near the front.
Great ENGR3300 prof, but not so much for linear algebra. Nitpicky on grading sometimes but I can't really complain because of how much she prepares you for the exams.
Homework due every tuesday and quizzes on thursdays. It's linear algebra so the subject can't get any easier than it already is. Lee is very kind and will gladly help you. Exams are easy but tedious, so its easy to make simple mistakes and get a B. You will use your book a lot.
This is the BEST professor for advanced engineering math, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I got an A+ with her in linear algebra and I'm on track to get an A+ in her AEM class as well. If you know your calculus fundamentals, this class is a breeze. What I like about Lee is that she is ALWAYS ready to help you! Highly respected by students.
She has an accent, but not hard to understand. There's a 2-4 problem quiz every week over exact examples done in lecture, she even tells you the questions that will be on the quiz. She provides a test review for every test, which is alot like the actual test. The class is basically an easy review of calculus, so it should be an easy A.
Lee is truly the best for AEM. Will answer any and all questions if you visit her office hours. Teaches to the point, no unnecessary theory which is what I like about her the most. Tests are not hard.
I really enjoy having Dr. Lee as a professor (for Linear Algebra & AEM). Grading is as expected, and she gives a few nice options for extra credit. She does what she can to help out her students, and is willing to help individually too, within reason. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and *do the assignments*, you're set. (I'm a bit lazy)
Attendance matters here. Even though it is basically a review of Cal 1,2,3 . The Professors accent can get confusing at times, so try to sit in the first few rows. You will need to practice, but an A is definitely doable! And the quizs she gives every tuesday make a difference in your grades. She basically tells you which questions she will give!!!
Attend lectures, go to her office hrs if u need help, TAKE GOOD NOTES... She tells you the exact question that will be given on the weekly quiz. Expect weekly hmw. Overall very nice lady and exams are pretty straight 4wd!! BUT you have to put some effort early to avoid taking the final! Would def take again!!!
Dr. Lee is brilliant. Class was generally really boring but she made up for it by her personality. If she likes your class she'll eventually warm up to you and makes small shade-throwing jokes to you and it gets you through the lecture that's currently making you fall asleep. Exams can either be really good or bad for you. She gives study guides.
I have no idea what she does in terms of grading. No feedback given for homework & tests. To add, she doesn't post all grades online, so at the end of the semester I discovered she had a test grade for me that was HALF of my actual grade. Ultimately, I don't know if it was changed. I retook the class with a 'harder' prof and did great (got an A).
Very nice and respectful. Class is not hard, but studying and keeping on top of things is important. Lots of quizzes and homework but they aren't too bad. Tests aren't any harder than the quizzes. Grading is tough, but an A is very doable. I slacked in the class and received a B+, but an A was very doable if I tried a little harder..
-Homework Every week (expected) -Has a hard to understand accent that doesn't seem to get better -Doesn't help that she talks VERY quietly -Can't even post a syllabus online -Knows the material, but really just can't get it out to people who've never seen it before like me -Tests are VERY similar to study guide at least Take her with caution
Soft speaker. Thick accent. Unclear/poor lecturer: goes thru examples w/out explaining concepts. Tells you whats on upcoming quizzes. Gives good test reviews. Easy grader. Helpful/Nice. Poor communicator: bad about giving due dates and test locations etc... Text book essential for understanding the material. Easy class if you're good at math.
Took Dr. Lee for lin al & AEM. She is a kind and awesome professor. Like others have said, her class is very easy if you are good at math.
Professor Lee was not very helpful. She sat behind a desk in office hours and did not invest time into helping the students. She does not teach material but just does examples in class without explaining what is happening. She is soft spoken and strict. If you are going to take Professor Lee ask a lot of questions in class and get tutoring.
Professor lee is a sweet person. Gives extra credit ( not the easy kind), but in class you will not understand a word! Too many unfinished examples, and homework. Homework is 5 pages long sometimes! If you are willing to do A LOT of self study, go ahead. She gives test guides similar to the exam. Office hours?! Useless. Expect weekly quizzes.
Okay yes, weekly homework and quizzes BUT she tells you exactly whats on the quizzes so honestly just listen in class and follow what she is doing to a T. Examples done in class are very similar to hw which come from the textbook so get it. I absolutely hated and sucked at Calculus and with her things are finally making sense!! I recommend highly!
Weekly quizzes w/ 1-2 problems she assigns based on examples she covers in class. Some homeworks are heavy, others are not. Mandatory reviews that are for a grade. Exams are like the review & have alot of questions and little space to show work. Attendance is for a grade. Optional final exam and optional extra credit. Very harsh exam & quiz grader.
Weekly quizzes and only two mandatory test (The final is optional and will replace your lowest test grade). Attendance is mandatory, homework is lengthy (Solutions on chegg) The exams are almost exact replicas of the previous years so if you know someone who has already taken the course get the test. Test are graded very hard fyi.
Tedious class. Weekly quizzes but she is very clear on what will be on them. Homework heavy. Two tests, final is optional. She does give extra credit near the end of the year that really helps. Just pay attention and do the exam reviews (very similar to actual exam). Do the math the way she wants it, she grades harshly if not, and you'll be fine.
Yes, I agree that the class requires you to do more than usual work, but once you get used to her style of quizzes and tests, the class becomes very easy. Weekly quizzes but she tells you the exact questions which will be on those. Tests are almost identical to the reviews. Overall, good professor.
Jung Lee is a nice professor. She really does want you to learn. She also does a decent job of planning out her lectures and making her notes easily accessible in case you couldn't copy something down. Weekly quizzes and homeworks, but they are useful and relatively easy. Overall a good choice.
Jung Lee is a caring professor. I advise anyone taking this class to take it seriously from the beginning (as it is a very slow pace). If you keep up with the HW and Quizzes, you can still bomb one test and end up with a B or A in the class. Extra credit at the end. Content is not hard, but just keep up with the class.
Before my review I feel it is fair to mention that I dropped this class this semester. With that out of the way... Prof Lee teaches well, but she's so quiet and has a thick accent that even her being mic'd up didn't help all the time to hear her. Her reviews are not like her tests. The quizzes are easy as she tells you what to expect ahead of time.
Prof Lee is one of the best math professors Ive taken. Rather than just focusing on boring theory that wont help us in an exam, she spends lecture time solving examples. Definitely a tough grader, but if you just follow the solution steps in her lecture notes, youll be fine.
The course features three tough exams (one being a cumulative final), weekly scheduled quizzes, and weekly homeworks. The final has the opportunity to replace a lower exam grade, but is known for being particularly difficult. The professor may be harsh at times, but she is passionate. Make an effort to not get on her bad side.
Dr. Lee gives the best math lectures at UTD! She works out many examples in class and posts really good class notes. She also tells you the exact question that will be on the quiz. Her exams are pretty tough, but if you just rework class notes and quizzes, you'll be fine.
She has a very quiet voice, and her mic that she uses either doesn't work more than half the time or is still too quiet. You have weekly quiz and HW, which she gives you exact problems with different numbers during the lecture. Make sure you do good on the first exam!
Dr. Lee is the best AEM professor at UTD! The class is tough, but she is VERY organized and makes studying for exams a pretty straightforward process. She gives weekly quizzes, but she tells you the exact question that will be on it in advance. Also make sure to do well on the first exam, and you might be able to skip the final.
Probably the most boring, useless, and pointlessly painful class I've ever taken. She teaches it like a pure maths class and makes it extremely numbing. The content is essentially review of calc 3, so I didn't learn anything new and felt like my time was wasted. She also grades inconsistently and way too harshly. Be sure to ace the first exam!
Notes posted online, gives exact/similar quiz question in class, review is not like the test. She cares if you care; willing to help you out if you show interest. Extra credit opportunities, but no curve. I'd take her again, she is knowledgeable in the subject and seems to care about her students. Do well on the first test, difficult exams overall.
everyday i prayed i would get hit by a car so i wouldn't come to this hell class that will take off 10 points for breathing wrong
What should be a straightforward class is cluttered by her disorganization and disregard for consistentency. The material (which is realtively simple to learn) is made artifically difficult by her confusing questions and extremely tough grading. Miss a negative sign? Minus 5 points. Worst grader ever, worst class ever.
I heard Jung Lee is an easy carefree professor for AEM. Unfortunately, this is not true at all. She taught in a very boring, specific manner. The class was essentially a pure maths review of previous calc with tons of extra hoops and mandatory attendance. Exams are graded extremely harshly, just check the public grade distributions for her.
You definitely need to show up to class to pass, besides the fact that attendance is mandatory. She tells you all of the questions that are on the quiz during lecture, and goes over the homework during the problem section. She's kind of hard to hear sometimes but if you make the effort to go to class, you'll get an easy A.
Pros: - Several homework and tests to improve concepts - Tests come directly from homework material Caution: - Tough grader - Participation is a large portion of the class
She is the one of the most harsh graders I have ever encountered. She convolutes what subject weekly quizzes will be over. She does not follow the textbook. Many homework, Quiz and test problems come from Larsons calculus 10e book. If you take her, get the Larson book, not the kerszig book. Horrible boring incoherent lectures. Highly discouraged.
She is a very tough grader, you need to show EVERY SINGLE STEP or be prepared to lose half credit. Make sure you show up to every class on time! Take very good (handwritten) notes because she pulls a lot of exam/ quiz questions from them. Study guide helps with the exam but be prepared to see things you just learned, or have never seen before.
Ehh kinda mixed here. She literally tells you what's on the quizzes; her tests mirror the homework and quizzes. Overall it's easy to get a good grade if you're good at math, but I think a lot of other people struggle to understand her lectures. She spent too much time on Calc 3 review and kinda skipped over Fourier series and PDEs.
Horrible class. Lectures were dry and difficult to follow. We had to constantly remind her we couldn't see what she was writing on the projector. Provided notes were useless. She misgrades a lot and messes up in class, expecting students to point it out. Grading is ridiculously unforgiving. Check her grade distribution and do not take! RIP my 4.0
Why would you host quizzes BEFORE the relevant homework is due? Absolutely bizarre. No opportunity for content-related feedback before a quiz. Very specific grading. Lee is passionate about her work, but you have to dig a little to find it. Quick to anger, kind of unprofessional, so be careful about how you approach her with concerns.
Her grading criteria are very specific and unclear. I found myself confused frequently during her lectures, even though ENGR3300 is mostly review of content from Calc 2/3. She was sometimes confused by students' questions and would eventually give up on trying to answer them. She did not use the book listed in the syllabus.
Grading is terrible. She made an easy class hard.
This is the most amazing professor, she is works hard for her student. She should have high rating. Believe me I am not that smart but i put in the work and she see everything and know how works hard in her class, wonderful teacher.
Jung Lee has to be the worst professor I've ever taken. She gets frustrated with you, and is rude. What good is knowing what's on the quizzes when she's just going to screw you over on the tests? Makes literally no sense. Her exams are nothing like the reviews, and are much more difficult too. If you care about your life, wait for a good prof.
Jung Lee is a tough grader, she'll take points off for not labeling the axes of your graph. Make sure your work is clear. Weekly homework and quizzes. She will tell you what will be on the quiz beforehand. Tests were difficult, similar to HW/reviews (not so much for Test 2). Some extra credit, attendance mandatory. Put in effort, you can make an A.
Hit or miss to be honest. If you put in the work, you'll get an A but that can be said for any class. Prof. Lee takes a lot of points off for small things, so make sure you're specific in your hw, quizzes, and tests. The nice thing is she'll tell u exactly whats on the quiz every week, and the tests have reviews are usually pretty similar.
Dont take her. Save your soul.
Subject we learn isn't hard, but please don't take her.
Class is review of Calc 1-3 (As) and I got a C because you're graded on criteria other than the answer. The questions dont say what work you need to do though. If she asks you to solve an equation and you don't draw a bonus graph and 2 different methods explaining? maybe 1/2 credit w right answer. If you ask questions about grading, shes rude. RIP
I asked questions about why I got points off because I didn't understand and she would be short and unhelpful with me. I had grading inconsistencies and she refused to fix them. You're not graded on the right answer but on copying everything she does in lecture. Over half the class is failing where we barely learned anything new. Save yourself.
No tricks in the assignments, if you're able to follow what is happening in the lectures, then you'll be able to do well on the tests. She grades very hard however, so be sure to be precise when you calculate your answers and follow the way she works out problems as well. Overall, it's a straightforward class.
Do yourself a favor and DONT TAKE HER CLASS. She speaks in a quiet tone voice, its almost a whisper in her online lectures. Give a generic lecture over grades being low in a class and says students dont watch her lecture and thats why they fail. Its tough to understand her some times. Dont bother emailing her. She takes long fixing grades.
If you use the right-hand rule to define the axis, without an explicit label, like the calc 3 professors at UTD ask you to do, you will simply lose 5+ points on every test. If you don' put her arbitrary circular domain before switching to cylindrical coords, you will lose another 5+ points on her tests, but not her quizzes. email is waste of time.
Grades tests and quizzes extremely harshly. Even when I did understand all of the content on a test there was so little time to solve it all that I often didnt finish and just had to give up 15% of the test grade. 90 minutes to solve 9 multi-part questions.
Dr. Lee is a pretty solid choice for this class. I think the reason that a lot of people complain is because they don't have a solid Calc I, II, III background. If you know your calculus, you will be fine. She is a specific grader, so just make sure you follow her rules and do the problem the same way. She gives quiz questions before. Nice person
She's a great lecturer who writes notes you can actually reference. even though the grading was pretty harsh it was a fair evaluation. She has two test modes- EXTREME and alright. If she offers to let you use your own formula chart say !NO!, she makes the test/quizzes easier when you use her formula chart. DONT OPT FOR USING YOUR OWN FORMULA CHART
Horrible professor grades exams and quizzes very harshly and time given to complete exams is not enough. If you want a good grade in this class then do yourself a favor and take this class with someone else
People say she's a tough grader (which is true) but tbh if you study the hw and understand the concepts being taught in lectures, I didn't have too much trouble with her quizzes and exams.
if you are good at quizzes/Test taking then great because there will be a quiz every week along with homework. She will tell you beforehand that the quiz may be over, but she would take many points off if you get the right answer and not do it the way she taught in class. Her tests are also very difficult, She will not admit her mistakes.
It's true that she's not an easy grader, but she's also a good teacher. She does a great job explaining things in class, so if you actually show up you will do fine. If you're an ENGR major, you need to know this stuff for lots of other classes, so it's better to learn it than just find an easy A professor.
The class is really tedious and time consuming with weekly quizzes, long homeworks, and mandatory lab sessions. Teaching style similar to any high school math teacher tbh. Grading is extremely harsh all around, looking for any excuse to take off points. The class doesn't really feel useful at all since she doesn't do any application questions.
homeworks and quizzes are easy, but her grading is very harsh. Tests are very similar to homeworks and quizzes, with an optional final exam. Dr. Lee is very understanding, and dropped several quizzes and homeworks. Overall very easy to get a good grade if you put in the effort.
Great professor, has a slight accent but I didn't mind. However, you have to apply all her instructions to do well in her class. The TA grades the homework and quizzes harshly, but if you just follow the instructions, you'll be fine. Exams are similar to homework, and she gives plenty of extra credit throughout the class. Overall amazing professor.
Advanced Engineering Mathematics is not an easy class, but Professor Lee is a good option. There are weekly homework and quizzes, so you will find yourself devoting a lot of time to studying. There are 2 mandatory tests, and an option final that replaces your lowest test grade. She offers extra credit opportunities throughout the semester.
Professor Lee is a good professor, but there were a lot of problems with her class. The largest issue was the harsh grading that was done on assignments. The second issue is that the course did not cover all of the concepts that were laid out in the syllabus. 80 percent of the semester was calc 3 and the rest was a rushed review of the other topics
Dr.Lee was a great professor. Her exams and quizzes resembled what she covered in class. If you take her, my suggestions is to prepare for every weekly quiz and do not take the homework grade for granted, because all of these points will eventually help you or hurt you in this class.
Hands down one of the worst professors at UTD. She grades very difficult. This class is literally Calculus 3 but her grading is horrible. Expect weekly quizzes and horrible feedback. She does not cares about students and it just goes to show how much universities "actually" cares about students. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER!!!
She is one of the worst professors I've ever had. First of all she is very soft spoken and it's hard to hear her. She spent an absurd amount of time doing calc 3 review and barely taught anything new. She grades the weekly quizzes very harshly and is unwilling to explain to students what they did wrong. Save yourself and your GPA and DONT TAKE HER!
This professor managed to make me hate working on a subject I am normally incredibly passionate about. She takes off points if you don't show EXACTLY the same work that she fumbles through in the class, and even then gives out a lot of random deductions. She spent the entire semester reviewing calc III, and we were left with 2 weeks for new stuff.
do NOT listen to any of the good things about her. they are not true. those reviews are either all fake or suck ups that have already taken the class multiple times and know what to expect. She literally does not teach and will look down at you in disgust if you don't understand something or try to improve your grade
Whatever good reviews you see with this professor is not true. She grades extremely hard and removes points from questions that she even teach in class. This class is Calc 3 but her grading is trash. She does not give back feedback on how to improve your grade. If you go to her during office hours, she talks down on students in her class.
This professor is so bad, never take this class no matter what you do
The homeworks can get pretty long for no reason but even after spending so much time on it, she'll take off points for the dumbest things. Same on the exam. The concepts and everything that's taught is pretty easy itself and the textbook helps. BUT, the way she grades is so tedious, even if you understand the class you'll still get a bad grade.
If you weren't religious before taking this professor, you will be after the semester ends.
soft spoken. doesnt know how to teach. lectures feel like shes taking notes to herself and the class is intruding. she answers questions like a politician ( deviates from the point ). makes a pretty easy subject difficult. gives SO MUCH HOMEWORK. be prepared to teach urself everything bc its hard to learn from her. doable but save yourself.
she is a horrible professor. she's so quiet during class that you can barely hear her, she barely explains what she is writing and her writing is hard to understand sometimes if you are not aware of the concepts already. she grades harshly do not take her class
If you're taking this class you should be prepared to teach yourself the material. She cannot teach, as you cannot hear, or see what she is doing, writing, or if she's even explaining anything in the first place. If you take this class, you will find yourself having no clue of what is going on.
Teaching with hand-written materials in class => Make random mistakes and spend too much time writing. She understand the materials but really bad teaching it. Homework grade by take pionts of from the mistake => may get a zero even tho half of the rest is right + some pitty point so u dont get a zero even tho u turned it in. TEST IS HARD.
I never had a professor that was so difficult to understand in my life, from the mumbling to the off screen chicken scratch, it was honestly infuriating. I didn't know what I was learning unless I searched the topic up on Youtube later that day. Truly an awful experience.
She's a sweet lady, but I wouldn't ever take her class again. HW is very time-consuming—I once spent 4+ hrs on one and got 3/11 for not using her exact method. Exams are tough and graded harshly. Her office hours are listed as 10–11, but she often wouldn't show up until 10:40. A week before finals, many grades still aren't posted. Stressful class.
Don't bother taking this professor, her grading is so unreasonable its not even funny. You can get all the questions on a test right, with most of the work done and still not get a 100. She had a 45 min long line of students questioning her grading after we went over the test answers in class, if that gives you a good idea of what grading's like.
Absolutley horrible time with this professor. Terrible communication throughout the semester. Getting homework grades from the middle of the semester right before the final. Various grading mistakes across the board. Lectures that never make sense. Steer clear of this professor if you like your sanity.
Final was listed as 11:30 in the syllabus but was actually at 11:00 per a different assignment. HWs and Exams are graded very harshly. When I came to her 10-11 office hours to try and get points back on an exam, she wasn't there/came very late.(multiple occasions) Grades were not finished being posted until Saturday night before Monday's final.
Prof isn't the best ever, grading is very tough. How she wants you to work problems is very clearly defined by how she works them in class, if you can repeat after her on assignments, class is not bad, but little mistakes are worth several points. She gives ~5% worth of extra credit opportunities to your overall grade at the end. Don't skip class.
she's really nice but very disorganized and hard to follow. bad communication and weird way of grading things; not the worst professor to take but probably not the best either.
Like honestly, why is this professor still teaching at this campus ? She is horrible at teaching and will make you suffer especially for her grading. Also if you were to take her, be prepared to get a hearing aid. The average for most of her classes is at least 50%. That should say something.
She is sweet. This class and its lectures are pointless. It's all calc 3, and the homework serves as review. I wouldn't attend any class if it werent for quizzes and graded attendance. This class has provided me no value outside of the value that I had to extract from YouTube videos and the textbook. It's not even hard, but Lee makes it pointless.
This was one of the best professors ive ever had, honestly dont get the reviews for this class (most likely gate keepers). take her course if you want an A+. She knows her material very well and grades very generously.
She's a sweet professor. The class was Calc 3 review with some added topics. Her grading on tests is very generous. The workload is light. She tells you ahead of time what will be on quizzes and exams. She also gives bonus opportunities, but it's unclear how they affect the final grade. I wish there were more applications specific to EE in class.
