He's boring and shows powerpoints the whole class, but he's very nice and will answer any questions. It's his first time teaching, he's pretty easy

LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!!! :) He is sooo sweet and always has a smile on his face. Just goes over powerpoints, but adds interesting videos that relates to topics discussed. Overall, very easy class and he is always clear in what he wants and expects. No need for textbook, ppts will help you out for exams.

Such an adorable guy. He's super sweet and really a great professor. I loved his class! His class was super easy and the test were all multiple choice and true and false. DONT buy the book, its a waiste of money, just study from his slides and you'll do fine!

This Professor was wonderful! His course was very easy and i actually learned things in his class. He used many examples for his lessons such as: videos and power point charts to keep the classes interesting. Plus, he was always smiling and willing to answer questions :]

Best teacher ever! He makes class fun and the subject matter clear. There is no homework except for one paper and printing out slides (unless you like to write your notes). He tells you what chapters will be on each test. Do NOT buy the textbook, you do not use it once. I recommend taking him if you can!

He is the perfect professor to take the class with if you just want to fufill your liberal art requirement. He shows interesting video clips for class and everything is on his powerpoint slides. Don't even buy the book. The mid-terms and finals were super easy Multiple choice. Loved him! Also lets you out an hour early every class

MARC IS AWESOME! His class is literally watching clips of Tyra and them explaining them. And then we leave 2 hours early. The midterm and final were maybe 15 minutes long each? The best part is, I learned a lot and didn't stress out over it.

Great prof. Makes the subject interesting by supplementing a lot of relevant info./videos/news with lectures. Encourages class participation. Ez exams if you studied the powerpoint slides. Recommended!

BEST PROFESSOR AT FIT. He's incredibly sweet and very helpful. He gives tons of extra credit and is very willing to work with you if you can't hand in a homework assignment. He shows video clips and relates them to the the topic you're studying with is SUPER HELPFUL.

One of the nicer and younger professors at FIT. He gives power points so you don't need the textbooks. Just pay attention in class and it shouldn't be a problem getting an A.

I truly enjoyed my semester with him. His class is very interesting and he always lets you out early! His midterm and final are super easy as well as the three 1 page reflection papers we had. He is very nice and understanding and offers extra credit if you are struggling(trust me you won't even need that). I definitely recommend him to everyone.

Take him! His class is interesting and his midterm + final is EASY.(As long as you pay attention) All we had to do for the class was write 3, 1 page reflections.

He is literally the sweetest and best professor I've had so far. He gives you everything you need to know in e-mails, including powerpoints and he even bolds the parts that will be on the test. Just finished taking the final exam. A great class, interesting, easy to follow and lots of clips and examples. The exams are also fair and he gives a study guide and exam review. If you have to take a GED class, take this one with Prof de Jong.

The class was easy and fun. He uses a lot of funny clips to help with the lessons and it makes the time go by faster. no homework ever, and he also never used the full 3 hours. very fair and definitely wants his students to succeed. I would take another class with him!

i commend him for trying to make his powerpoints relatable and interesting but i literally did not learn anything in this class. his powerpoints are completely incoherent but he is a really nice guy and if you want a bird course than take this class; but, if you want to learn, steer clear because it was a joke.

I learned quite a lot from this class than any other class that were hard on grading yet on same difficulty. This class was easy, very fun, and easier to learn because of the professor made it very clear and precise. Would take again if I could! Oh and you don't really need textbook but if you do,try rent from Amazon just around 10 - great deal!

I took Intro Soci with Prof. Jong after several friends recommended his class. Prof. Jong is one of the best teachers at FIT, very funny, patient, smart, kind, and explains theories and concepts in a clear manner. Prof. Jong uses random everyday situations to apply and explain theories & concepts. Highly recommended class and Prof.!

I really loved this class and the professor! Professor dejong makes soci interesting and fun and I learned a lot which surprised me. This was my last class before I graduated and I was dreading it. But it was one of the best classes I took at FIT and the professor is really smart and funny and nice. Defenitely recommend this intro class.

Loved Marc! Very informal classroom setting. Lots of discussions that stem off from PowerPoints. There were 3 reflection papers (2 page max.) or one research paper assignment for the semester, plus a midterm and a final exam. He is very clear on the material on his tests and my final was not cumulative! Do not need the textbook at all. TAKE HIM!

This was my first online class and he made this super easy. Everything is up and posted at the start of the week, he email you if something isn't working, and if you email him he responds quickly. The information was a bit boring to me, but I learned a lot. Warning: Not respondingposting counts as a missed class so be careful.

Really nice prof and was always helpful. Also, he always keeps his information really up-to-date so it was quite fun to talk about current things (tv shows, celebrities, etc) in discussions, all while somehow relating back to sociology.

This professor is GREAT!!! Like others said, he is so helpful and really cares about his students. His lectures are interesting and insightful. If he taught another class, I would take it in the future for sure.

Great professor! He's easy going and laid back but he still cares about his students. If you have a question or any comment, he's completely open and will help any student no matter what. He's also kinda corny but it's funny and he's passionate about what he teaches. The class is pretty easy, there is a midterm and a final and that's it.

I took the online class in the winter. It was lot of writing but interesting. I usually don't like online classes and had no other option this semester but I liked this class. The professor was helpful and responds to emails fast and the class is well organized.

Absolutely love him! On of my favorite professors at F.I.T. Class is so much fun and interesting. Grade is based on your mid term and exam that are both take home, plus attendance is optional. Do your self a favor and take his class!

The most amazing online professor. Took his class during one summer session while I was taking three other courses and his class was totally manageable. There was one week were I had to ask for an extension and he totally understood! The videos he uses for his lectures are really interesting and will make you want to analyze them. Thank you Marc!!!

This is the second class I've taken with this professor. His lectures are always clear and to the point. Gives wonderful examples and links for you to learn from. Clear with communication. Gives feedback in a timely manner. Online class - required discussion posts & short exercises. Final exam was 2 essays. Would definitely recommend.

Had him for Intro to Sociology and loved him so I decided to take him again! He's so patient and understanding. Really easy class. No tests in class, only a take home midterm and a take home final. Attendance isn't a huge deal as he just uses a sign in sheet.

Prof De Jong is truly a great teacher! For intro to sociology, he really goes into detail (gives good examples) for all the concepts and makes sure that students understand what they're learning. His midterm is multiple choice and he gives a really good/detailed midterm review sheet and answers emails almost immediately!

Had him for online course. We had weekly discussion posts, weekly assignments and two final essays. Always gave feedback on papers & discussion posts. Straightforward & simple class, no textbook needed.

He is very kind and understanding of everyone's situation. The midterm was mc and short answers which were easy since he gave us review sheets that were very helpful! The final was take home so everything is do-able. The lectures are heavy and can be slow but its mostly examples. Just know the main concepts and you're good!

Such a fun and easy class. Only assignments were the midterm, final, and two extra credit assignments. While the class is mainly a lecture the topics are really interesting and bring in a lot of current pop culture as references. He is also very understanding, especially of students under FITABLE. Couldn't recommend taking a class with him enough!

probably the easiest class i've ever taken, he gives you so much extra credit even though the tests are so easy, no homework no studying, and he's such a sweet guy, he makes classes optional, and it makes me sad to not go because he actually cares about his job and most teachers who do are mean but he's not he's so sweet

Best online class I've ever taken. I learned so much with barely any work. The homework was either a discussion post with one reply or a half-page summary. The final was also super easy, no citations, just stating your opinion. I would definitely take his class again.
