Very nice teacher. Knows material extremely well. Great.

Watch a lot of boring movies. Not a hard class, though and the textbook is actually interesting!
He is very flexible. if the entire class argues with him that somethign is to hard he is liekly to change it.
Ugh I couldnt stand this teacher! Hes EXTREMELY BORING!! I mean to the MAX!! I wouldnt recommend him if your mind tends to drift easily! I couldnt pay attention to what he had to say and everything is so routine and BORING.
Dr. Kremer is awesome. He's knows his material very well. Keeps everything up to date online in a timely manner, and formulates the curriculum to the classes needs. He is very helpful and seems to enjoy his profession very much.
Online class wasn't great. In all fairness, he might be better in class. His book was very interesting, but the weekly postings of 500-1000 words were really annoying.
He is a good teacher but you must be really good at taking notes, his slide show moves 100 mph
Wore the same thing to class EVERYDAY! Long, boring movies. Longer, more boring lectures. Failed me because I told him I truely disliked him, his class, and his teaching method (if there was one).
I love this guy so much. you should only take his classes.
I really liked him, and he sent weekly e-mails to keep us updated on what was going on in the class. Don't take him if you don't have easy access to internet
One of the best professors in the Psychology department, takes a holistic approach to alleviate bias and judgment. Lastly, very tough professor but you come out with confidence in the subject, always wanted students to critically think about society and their culture
We are 5 weeks into the course and it might as well be online. Nothing and I stress NOTHING said in class is on the tests! His assignments are unclear (he says cloning when he means genetics) and it is obvious the course was designed for online - not the classroom. He has been unhelpful in assisting students.
I loved this class!!
Very hard teacher, very unclear assignments, class basically online. Out of 30 people, 20 dropped within the first two weeks. Don't take!
Idiot. Moron. Real smart guy, very very bad teacher. Doesn't teach so much as he ONLY ASKS QUESTIONS. How am I supposed to learn?
He's a nice guy. He's sympathetic when students seem to be having a tough time. I agree with the comment below that he's a smart guy, but not a very good teacher. The textbook he chose is awful and I always feel unclear about what he wants from me. In summary, he's a good guy, but I wouldn't take him again.
Jurgen's not a very socially dynamic guy; there's a reason why his office hours are so limited. That being said, if you demonstrate an interest in the course material, you're sure to get at least a B, quite possibly an A. The only thing I didn't like about 1B wasn't even his fault- that being that it was only offered in the morning in Santa Rosa.
Might be ok to take his course online...you'd get about the same amount of information since he really has terrible lectures. All of his quizes, includin the midterm and final, are online and open-book which really gives you no motivation to study. Waste of time!
Oh man this class is boring. He can be a funny guy, but there's a lot of write-ups, a lot of reading, with a research paper of your own due at the end of the semester. Unfortunately, this class is required for most psychology majors that wish to transfer
I love this class; the teacher is not bad like other students would like to portray him. He has been willing to help & interested. Some teachers don't care if you succeed, but he seems to care. The writing portion is easy, but if you are not at college level writing then your skills could be inadequate. You'd probably whine about the assignments.
This professor is the worst teacher i have ever had! I got good grades and all but i could barely stand to be in class he was so boing. Mr. Kremer, if you read this, "you need to make class more interesting! i was not very engaged " he goes through power pont displays really fast and just tells you waht the book says nothing he talks about in clas
Pretty cool guy, class can be boring but you really do learn a lot of interesting things. I would take this class but you need to be able some textbook reading.
Jurgen is a compassionate professor. He is passionate about psychology and you can tell by the way he teaches. Read the book and you won't have to take notes on his fast-paced powerpoints! There are ALOT of papers to write but they are necessary for you to understand the research aspect of psychology. Try and you will get an A!
I have only taken Mr. Kremer's online courses, so no direct contact with him so I can't really say what his classes and lectures are like. However, the online classes he has a very good. He is very helpful and will let you turn things in late if you have a good excuse and will help you out if you're struggling.
totally rad teacher. i liked the look on kids faced when he started talking about spirituality.
this teacher is always there for u regardless. does a lot thru. email/internet so its easier. tests are easy b/c there's bunch of prac quizzes u can do countless times..just memorize those and ull ace the online midterm/final. work is pretty heavy..DONT procrasinate..not a good idea for this class. attending class isn't really necessary..
good teacher but didn't learn much from his class, besides being able to throw a paper together once a week. I missed a butt load of classes and still was able to get a solid -A- because most of his assignments are online. Tests and quizzes are online too, probably why I didn't learn much.
well, i geuss i wish i had taken him online. class is huge waste of time, and as a psych major: uninpressed with the assignments (AKA pointless). Tests are poorly written, I know you have to take psych 1B but it was a pain. Preatty easy if you dont procrastinate. Bottom line: this guy shouldn't be teaching, he doesnt have the guts or creativity.
One of my favorite psych teachers so far. Assignments are not completely easy but if you take the class seriously, you'll do fine. He is very willing to help in and outside of class. He is also a very easy grader as long as you show him you are serious about the class!!
Strange class, think he sits there and reads all the interaction. Wonder if he is there.
WHAT WAS THAT? LOT OF TYPING AND RESEARCH, EVERYTHING IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOUR NOSE ON SCREEN, NO REASON FOR ANY PROBLEMS UNLESS YOU REFUSE TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, COOL CLASS
I took a psychology 250 (general psychology) course at Sonoma State University with him, and for some reason he isn't under the SSU professor list. I loved his class, even though it had 125+ students in it. He was funny, creative, and loved questions. Do the online quizzes, etc. you'll do fine.
Easy class lots of research to do but intersting
First day of class a 12 page paper due the following week was assigned. Kremer is a very smart guy but his class involves a ton of papers and essays. He was educated and taught in Germany and we all know how smart Germans are. If you looking for a Psych degree then take his class, if you need credits AVOID HIS CLASS AT ALL COST!
A lot of papers but how are you to learn about the mind etc without doing research????watch tv??????don't take if you are not wanting to really know anything
Jurgen Kremer was the most understanding professor I've ever had. It could be because of the subject matter for my class (death and dying), but I really would like to take him again at some point. Extremely smart, sense of humor, etc. our particular class had like 4 or 5 essays and no tests. Great guy, can't wait to take another class (teaches SSU)
Online: Lots of reading, lots of material to get through, lots of essay writing and making responses to classmates. This class is a heavy workload and it's easy to fall behind, but I appreciated how organized and rich in information the class website was. If you can sit down, focus, and crank out a ton of work you'll like this class.
Sure there were papers, but the instructions were very clear what to do, it wasn't hard at all. Very interesting class, it was online. Very cool.
Great guy, very helpful. I took his online class. As long as you follow the detail instructions, you will pass and get a good grade.
If you like to do reports, this is the class... Can re take quizes (save them to use on tests) as many times as u wnt. fine, worrd was crazy but fun class
cool teacher, take quizes and save info it will be the test, such a good class
I really hated this class. It was a total waste of time going to class about 95% of the time. I felt that he did not know where he was going with his lectures, he seemed a bit lost or disorganized as if he is teaching for the first time. The web page was not always up to date, which was frustrating. At least the online quizzes were super easy
ONLINE class. Be ready for a LOT of READING. I spent 18-22 hours a week on this 3-unit course. Weekly essays are not terribly long, and he guides you through preparing your term paper over the course. Midterm/finals based 100% on quizzes with plenty of practice to ensure you know the info that's not covered in the textbook. Awesome textbook!
I took Kremer for two classes and I loved them. I found them to be very easy and sometimes pretty interesting. Your grade is based on weekly assignments that were never too hard. The only other part really was the practice quizs which you could take as many times as you want and then the chapter tests which used the same questions!
Great teacher!!! I love his teaching style. I would say that homework is fun because of the the assignments he gives out. You have to take online test once a week but you can take it up to 50x until you feel like you dont want to do it anymore. I would say it is an easy class but you need to speak up in class but overall great class I LOVE IT
Communicates clearly. Warm approachable personality. Very insightful and brings a wealth of unique, worldly knowledge into the sphere of psychology.
Online class. Awesome teacher. Very helpful and encouraging throughout the semester
I enjoyed his online class. His site is filled with links to supplement your education and the movie review assignments were fun. I learned a lot. My only complaint is that there is no real grading. Perhaps he overloaded with work. Also, if something is unclear, it's almost impossible to get help via email.
easy a. if you do assignments online (which are easy beyond belief) and do the online exama its a guarenteed a. if you want to learn alot-go elsewhere.
Kremer is not what I would call a good professor. This class was always way off-topic and I didn'y learn a thing. We watched videos every class and the videos had nothing to do with class. Why do Phd professors put on videos? Do not take Kremer
Professor Kremer a very boring teacher. His lectures are old power points a student made for him 3 years ago. but if you do all you papers you will get an A. He grade easily. I love the field of psych but not in his class. He did show some cool videos though.
This online class requires a LOT of writing and critical thought. The assignments were very interesting, just time-consuming. However, tests are SUPER easy, questions came directly from practice exams (TIP: retake many times and save answers!) Plus, he offers a LOT of extra credit. Not hard to get an A as long as you do all the work.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IN PERSON, TAKE IT ONLINE! He will say the same words as you would read on a webpage. Frustrating, boring, pointless, unorganized, not thought out, consumes WAY too much time. Ridclus! I WISH I HAD NEVER SIGNED UP. I'm an A student, this class was a waste of time. Too many online quizzes. You will just teach yourself Psych1B!
Off topic always. Syllabus is a joke. Same assignment written on five dates for the same due date for example. He seemed uninterested half the time and it was almost therapy for some students in the class to talk about themselves. Overall nice guy but unorganized teacher who showed many movies and loads of reading you dont need to do.
Kremer's a good teacher. He structures his classes so that only those who want to learn will learn anything. Extremely easy tests. You can cheat because they are online but if you actually read the book you can learn some interesting things. Anyone who is confused by his webpage is an idiot or some old lady. He might make a few typos but it isn't h
I was very disappointed with my experimental psych class. I was in it to learn, but did not learn much. I didn't like the textbook, and only found some of the assignments to be enlightening. Also, the professor has several classes and often seems too busy to get to everything. He gives very minimal feedback.
I was surprised to see so many negative comments about Professor Kremer. I have taken him for every Psychology class I have had so far, both online and in person, and in both cases I have learned a great deal and been inspired. This man has so much experience in the field of pychology and he wants to ear what his students think. Great teacher!
I took Social Psych online & found Kremer?s schedule confusing but got used to it. He's a really awesome teacher w/interesting assignments & a lot of EC opportunities. He allows you to take your quizzes (practice for the exams-there are 4) as many times & picks your highest score. He was helpful when I had an issue with a peer & was a fair grader.
Kremer's online classes are wonderful for the busy student. The more YOU put in the more YOU will get out of it. You can put in minimal effort and still manage a good grade, but you may not learn much. If you don't understand the outline, read it slowly and repeatedly until it makes sense.
I took his Psych5 course online during the summer along with 3 other classes. His schedule is confusing at first, but you will figure it out. If you know how to work the system, his online class is a breeze. If not, it would probably be quite difficult and take a lot of work. Luckily for me, I worked the system and got an A-.
Took this class online over the summer and got an A. The class consists of several 500 word writing assignments, two 1000 word movie reviews and a 4,000-5,000 word final which can be a movie review. You're allowed to repeat the quizzes to get the highest grade. Quizzes use recycled questions so PRINT THEM OUT AND SAVE! The final is cumulative.
He has us doing a 2,000 word paper for our final. which isn't that bad besides we have to read a autobiography and cite stuff in the book. plus each week do quizes, write additional papers. his online classes that i am takeing as so screwed that i can't half way tell whats due when. iv taken alot of online classes. hes not helful...
I took this class during the summer online. DO NOT DO THIS! He's a great professor though. Expect to have to write several essays. His online site does not make it clear when things are due, but he offers extra credit. So, one missed essay will not destroy your grade. I walked away with it with a lot more knowledge, so I would take it again.
Dr. Kremer is an amazing psychologist. If you ever get a chance to check out some of the articles that he published, I would suggest it. I have taken several of his online courses. As long as you don't take one of his classes over the summer semester, the workload is very manageable. He also offers many extra credit assignments.
He was informative and helpful. His syllabus was clear and to the point. He followed syllabus closely. gave options of book or movie for final.(I prefer book)was a superb class.
This class was GRUELING!!! I do not recommend taking it. It is a TON of reading, a TON of writing, and the schedule is a mess!! I was so confused about when things were due. Kremer adds hundreds of pages of extra reading. Contrary to those people who said this class is easy...it's NOT! Lots of extra credit does not equal EASY! Just glad it's over!!
I took this class to start feeling like I was really getting deeper into my major. The online quizzes have no relation to class lecture, and the only thing we've gone over is APA style citing and conducting experiments. This teaches nothing about really working in the field, but more about how to experiment and write about it. Very tedious class.
Jurgen is an amazing instructor. He doesn't give text so you will write a lot of papers in his class. He is extremely understanding and will listen to students and make changes to assignments accordingly. You get to know your classmates closely and openly discuss topics in class that you would otherwise never speak of.
One of the best PSYCH teachers ever! There are online quizzes and exams but, they are at home so just remember the right answers and write down the wrong ones so you can use them on the tests and for the final exam. If you do that you will be fine. Jurgen is very funny and very helpful; he really listens to the students and is there for them.
His voice will put you to sleep, like a mix between Ben Stein and the teacher from Peanuts. His class is extremely easy, but it's not clear when things are due and it takes weeks before his class page is set up correctly. You also have to point out quite a few grading mistakes. I took one class from him and dropped the next one. Couldn't do it.
For his online quizzes almost every single question is word for word copied from QUIZLET. That's right. Don't feel like I'm learning much in this class but doing "busy work" to earn credits.
Took the online course, it was very difficult with 2 jobs. I ended up quitting my second job to keep up with the class. I made all the deadlines though, I turned in my final research report and FINAL exam 12 minutes before the deadline. LOTS OF READING & ONLINE QUIZZES. Jurgen is absolutely amazing. very helpful and responds to emails promptly
Took one of his online classes this summer and it was a lot of work! Lots of reading. Let us repeat the quizzes as often as we liked and would take the highest grade. Only gave 1 week for each research report which didn't seem like enough time. Overall good class but a lot of work. Won't recommend taking it in the summer unless it's your only class
Psych 5 with Prof. Kremer was one of the best classes I ever took. I did the summer online course. It is intense!! Lots of reading, writing posts, more reading, more writing. Grueling, but it was an extremely rewarding experience. Spread out over a regular semester would have been better. if you want to learn abnormal psych he is the best teacher.
Loved taking the class during the Summer, unfortunately had to withdraw. Took it again the following semester, and passed with an A. Hard class, but it is worth it in the end, because this class is mandatory for a BA degree. Take it now and you will save yourself heartache. Recommend taking MATH 15 prior to taking this, several students struggled.
I don't know why it's just me, but I found Jurgen Kremer's class extremely boring. I can't say that I learned really anything from his class..? Overpriced book, no clarity, and horrible responses back. Would recommend taking if you would just like the credit and do not care about learning the material, Easy A if you complete everything.
THIS CLASS WAS THE WORSE! my Psych 5 class was meant to be a in class-class not a hybrid! His online material was long and pointless when it came to the weekly quizzes. when you asked professor Kremer a question about one of our many essays he would give you this vague, unhelpful answer. lecture's were videos of him talking to other classes..
I took this class just for General Ed. Would highly recommend taking this course online instead of on campus because there was absolutely no reason to go onto campus for this class. All assignments, tests, and even the final was online. Take the on campus class if you like watching movies, documentaries and video lectures.
Took the class online - I think it might have been better on campus, because the syllabus and webpage were a little disorganized. The class content was great, reading was enlightening, video lectures were interesting, and I learned a lot. Person-oriented. An emphasis on shamanism.
He is a little weird but a really nice guy. He once showed us an hour long video of him chanting but taking his class really is an easy A. He is super nice and really cares about his students.
Kremer is really nice and does care about his students, but I felt like I really didn't really learn anything. I felt like some things he lectures about isn't relevant to abnormal psych. Don't take the in-class option b/c all he does is shows you videos of him lecturing or videos that he posts online anyway. Literally everything will be online.
Kremer is a really nice guy and cares a lot about his students. I was so excited to take abnormal psych, but I was let down. It feels like I was taking an online class. His lectures are fast, boring, and I have hardly learned a thing. Very easy A Take the class if you are doing general ed, not if you are actually interested in learning the material
Kremer is a good professor. This class felt shallow to me personally because I have no interest whatsoever in the field of psychology. It seems like a complicated way to understand why we do what we do. There are a lot of interesting topics covered throughout the semester which is what kept me the most interested. Kremer is friendly + he cares.
I took this class because I am really interested in Psychology, and he has been the best teacher/professor I have ever had. He listens to you and if you are going through a tough time he will help as best as he can. I would definitely take another class from him.
I took Kremer's online class this Spring. Homework was easy enough to complete. The textbook chapters can be quite long. He wasn't very active with communication through the course, granted he's known to have a lot of students in person and online. Overall, stay on top of homework and chapter reading, you'll do fine.
This class was really easy as long as you stay on top of the homework assignments which were all online( I got 100% on every one). There is an online quiz every week that is very specific. The book is online as well. I enjoy psychology but unfortunately this teacher is super BORING. His lectures are basically a summary of the chapter.
Very wise and gentle-spirited. Gave me hope that there can be a balance of empiricism & spirituality encompassed in psychology- not. very surprised to have such an open minded approach to a research class. Tediously long quizzes but not overwhelming, projects time consuming. Class time rarely had lectures, must keep up reading to learn material.
I took this during summer which was extremely challenging with a fulltime job. I would not recommend taking an accelerated version of this class. Curriculum, content, instruction are excellent. Definitely take it asap after stats and taking LIR10 beforehand really helpful (for library db experience). Also word & excel skills important.
I took an online Psych class typical forum every week along with a quiz on the chapter that you can take an unlimited amount of times online. Straightforward class
I dropped this class, I no longer could deal with the frustration of the "21st Century" interpretation of psychology. I have taken Psych 101 quite some time ago, and know what to expect from an introductory course, this IS NOT THAT. If you don't need a traditional and comprehensive psych class, take it, if you do avoid this one at all cost.
Class is good, but would take it online if I was to do it again because it's mostly online anyway and when you go to class you watch videos that are already posted online or he lectures which is mostly just a powerpoint of the chapter, so no new or different information, so if you're taking it just do it online
Took hybrid class. Long online quizzes that were hard but you can re-take them as many times as u want n he takes highest score. Several additional research projects. plenty of time do them all. 4 guaranteed extra credit assignments. Not a harsh grader. Super nice, gentle person, approachable. a bit disorganized, just go with flow, do assignments.
By far one of the best experiences I've had with online courses. Amazing lecture material, amazing lessons learned overall. Kremer is very kind, organized, and responsive. Quizzes and test can seem overwhelming however you are given many opportunities to succeed in this course. Highly recommend!!
Get ready to spend 15-20 hours a week on this class. Run far far away from this course. Find an easier teacher, it's not worth it. It's too much and it's not necessary to put yourself through the torture of this class. I'm usually an A student and always ready to work hard, this class is just over the top with the amount of work. Save yourself.
not a good online teacher-- materials include "live lectures" from his in-class sessions with very bad sound quality his own interpretation of Psych 1A (some usual stuff but also connecting to elements, telepathy, "we are all connected", etc). not the standard intro psych class! his own textbook
Jurgen shows the relationship between mental health and one's culture, and how our own system of addressing mental health here can be flawed which is extremely good knowledge to have if you're serious about going into psych. However, with that being said, it feels like your taking an online class at times with how dry lectures are sometimes.
Youll have to do a research paper that Jurgen spreads out throughout the entire semester in increments so you dont have to write it all at once. Gave 200 possible extra credit points that you have the semester to do. A bit confusing with instructions but triple check if you need to. Not lecture heavy at all, easy going class (took 1A w/him too).
There was a research paper that had to be done but it was split up into sections due over the week. The textbook can be a bit boring but as long as you don't wait till the last day to read and take the online quiz you should be fine as you can retake them various times.
Take this class if you like it very structured. Prof Kremer emphasizes time management. Every assignment is due by midnight online (at least when I took the class) on the day of the class, for me monday and wednesday. He teaches his own textbook, so you do the assignment at home and then the lectures are the same material. There are many papers.
DO NOT TAKE THIS. This class does not cover actual scientific psychology at all. The "textbook" is a $100+ pamphlet made by the professor and describes holistic spiritual traditions instead of psychology. I don't know why this class is passed off as a general psych course in the first place.
If you want to learn psychology or anything applicable in a psychology class, take another teacher. This class was loaded with pseudoscience and mysticism and Im astounded its allowed to exist in an academic institution. He cant manage the website effectively and youre forced to buy the book he wrote, new, which is loaded with false info
This is a tough class. Dr. Kremer is a good professor because he's open to answering questions and approachable but dear lord are there so many papers and long writing assignments. The textbook is somewhat dry but interesting at times especially with the non-western approach to psychology. DON'T LOSE TRACK OF DUE DATES YOU'LL REGRET NOT KEEPING UP
What an amazing Professor, HIGHLY recommend. You can take each chapter test as many times as you want until you get 100% (highly recommended). The Midterm and Final is the SAME QUESTIONS AS THE CHAPTER TESTS (hint, hint). Lectures are given in video as well as slide shows. He wrote the textbook, so read it! Loved the final report!
I took this class online. It was not hard but tedious and frustrating. He would put up more assignments at the very last minute. This was very annoying because you would think, okay i finished my assignments, and if you did not check regularly, you would miss it. Overall extremely frustrating. I learned more about religion than psychology.
Would definitely recommend taking his class! I really enjoyed the lectures. He also lets you take the midterm and final TWICE and the quizzes as many times as you want (and he keeps the highest grade).
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!!! He writes the required textbook you have to buy. You have to buy the test book to take the tests..... that he writes online. The textbook is as big as an instruction manual for a table from IKEA. Each chapter is about two pages and not useful AT ALL. AGAIN DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
He doesn't grade anything his pal's grade. You have to buy an online book for 100 dollars that HE himself wrote. Everything is online all you do is show up to his boring lecture. I thought about dropping this class on the first day, I should've but I had already bought the book. I stuck it out honestly wish I hadn't. Choose somone else for pysch.
Kremer is uncommunicative, disorganized, and makes it mandatory that students buy a book he wrote himself for the course. His "ethnoautobiography" contains no legitimate information. I ended up keeping his class for credit to be considered full time, but he dropped me without so much as an e-mail and I ended up losing my scholarship.
I took this class during COVID-19 so everything was online, and it was the best online class I've ever taken! Kremer was incredibly thorough and knowledgable in his lectures and assignments. The material he assigns isn't busywork, it really helps you LEARN and EMPATHIZE with people with psychological suffering. I would 100% retake his class!
Dont take kremer for a summer course! All you do is watch videos and you dont know how long until you click on it. He doesnt post all the assignments for modules until halfway through the week. It is an easy A if you do all assignments but theres so a lot of them.
I took this class during Summer 2020 of the COVID-19 pandemic, its an easy A. Never took notes, quizzes are unlimited attempts, exams are 2 attempts allowed. Just watch the videos, do the reading & writing assignments and you'll pass w/an A. I worked a full-time job & a took another Psych class with this class. Extra credit is provided as well.
350 characters do not do justice my utter contempt for this man. I've only been in this class for about four weeks and it's about as grating as nails on a chalkboard. All he provides is baseless mysticism. There is no learning, only telling him what he wants to hear. If you have any idea what's good for you, run far away from this class.
Not a very engaging class, even when he does the lectures himself. You read a chapter every week and do a few assignments. You buy his own book.
I look forward to taking more of Kremer's classes. He's brilliant and an outstanding teacher! His lectures are easy to follow (if you read the material) and informative. He always wants his students opinions and questions, which I personally enjoy in my learning environments.
Clear course outline, heavy work load. My largest complaint is that almost everything taught is based on mysticism and is often inaccurate. Good course to take if you just want easy credits, dont take this course if you want to learn science based psychology, you wont find that with this professor.
Prof. Kremer is a good teacher and knows what he's talking about. The overall course load was a little heavy with weekly recorded lectures and quizzes every week on the textbook reading and a final paper due at the end of the semester.
This class was super easy and really fun. It's mostly lectures and quizzes that he post's every week due the next week by Monday ! If you procrastinate this class will totally cut you some slack, as long as you remember to do the work before it due. He's understanding and there is no way you need more time for the assignments ! I Would recommend!
My biggest complaint is the amount of mysticism that he teaches on. His vocab is heavy in lengthy unnecessary words, and half the time I feel like he made them up. He was very nice and prompt with grading. The class was over all pretty easy, just wish it was a bit more science based. Felt like I could have learned more.
You have to actively try to not do well in this class. Prof. Kremer is straight forward and has realistic expectations of his students. His quizzes lecture based. He does focus on mysticism and shamanism a lot.
Teaches baseless mysticism and pseudoscience. Quizzes require you to agree to his anti-scientific theories and to his politics. The material he teaches in class is ridiculous on the level of creationism.
Hes such an interesting teacher and his lectures are about alternative healing methods as well as mental illnesses. I really like how he strays away from the traditional sense of psychology. I learned so much from his class! More than any other professor.
He makes you buy a book he wrote himself thats filled with no real, relevant information. this is NOT what I expected from a PSYCHOLOGY class. He teaches you what HE wants & expects you to agree w him. He doesnt know how to engage w the class either, making it even MORE boring.
Great Class. Points out flaws within western science regarding psychological suffering. Introduces you to a different perspective. You do not have to accept his point of view to pass.
Dr. Kremer is an advocate for social responsibility. He integrates biology, psychology, and sociology to honor our quantum reality: entangled intra-actions produce phenomena. He uses a multicultural lens to compare shamanism's treatment of psychological suffering to the biomedical interventions being pushed by western pharmaceutical industries.
He was an easy grader; I don't think he even read anything, just graded based on whether the work was done. All his quizzes and exams are easy and from his textbook. I just opened the textbook in multiple tabs and ctrl+F'd the keywords and found all the answers. He teaches a lot of pseudointellectual stuff, so don't expect to learn real psychology.
Dr. Kremer is amazing. He is at the vanguard of multicultural psychology and has deep respect for indigenous peoples and their practices. His presentation of classic psychology integrates modern concepts that seek to decolonize the field and integrate the perspectives of cultures outside of the western world. He's truly inspiring.
This professor shows excellent consideration for various cultural perspectives of psychology. He honors the classical western history of psychology, while noting the limitations of its origins in the eurocentric western perspective. Well worth taking more than one course with this professor.
His class was very interesting and I learned a lot. I liked how he included different view points on abnormal psychology and as long as you put in the time to do the work it was super easy to get done and finished.
Requires a loooot of online lectures you have to watch bc they stop randomly and ask you questions.
He is simply amazing. Best class k have taken as of yet!!! Lots of extra credit and I loved the structure to his online class! It made it direct, engaging, and easy! I'd live to take his class again!
I took this coruse online and it was an overall good experience. He is a bit "far out" and free spirited but I found the lectures helpful, his grading was generous, and the topics were interesting. Sometimes It felt a bit repetitive but over all I found myself enjoying the class.
Kremer is a conspiracy theorist. His material is finely on the line of what you could include in a college lecture. He focuses a lot on exploring other cultures definitions of psychology, which is great, except that it is either him speaking of it, or another older, white man. Doesn't actually center the voices of indigenous people.
I had this professor for Introduction to Psychology. However, it was much more of a new age philosophy course. I dropped it as the information in this course was not the information I needed to understand psychology. He wrote his textbook which was heavy on new age philosophy. The information was difficult to follow and take organized notes.
Has a clear module set up in Canvas but the videos were so long, bought a book (that he wrote) just to be able to take the quizzes, and had to do a writting project for months and it was the final paper. He was very picky about the format of the paper and it being APA, which was fustrating at first trying to understand what APA even is.
Do NOT take this class in the summer if you're not serious about dedicating time to this class. The summer semester is 18 weeks pushed into 6 weeks. Meaning there is 20 - 30 assignments PER WEEK. Most are video assignments with questions in them but there are A LOT of videos that range from 45 - 1 hour long. Be prepared.
just dont. he makes you buy HIS book for $150 which you cant refund if you drop the class (found out the hard way) and its weirdly religious and almost no real abnormal psychological science. everything feels like its just based on his faith. i could write a whole essay about how bad this class is. its not worth it, save your time and money. please
Instead of actually teaching us about abnormal psychology, he teaches solely pseudoscience. His "extra credit" assignments are not actually extra credit as he has them set so that they go against your grade if you do not complete them. Instead of accepting if he made a mistake, he blames it on something else and won't take responsibility for it.
PSYCH 5 wasn't sensitive towards issues regarding mental health. Kremer takes the time that should be spent learning about the DSM and Medicine and pushes his insensitive propaganda, making you write a "Diary" about having an Eating Disorder as a part of an "empathetic process". He blames grading errors on Canva and takes no responsibility himself.
During Psych 5, we were told to do an "Eating Disorder Diary" in which we had to go through our day as if we had an eating disorder. This assignment put me back in the mentality from when I had an eating disorder and put me back into a dark mentality. This class overall is insensitive to those who have mental illnesses or are on the LGBTQ spectrum.
The course work is heavy, but manageable. The heaviest part really is reading long chapters every week and the assigned video lectures adding up to anywhere from 45-90 or so minutes a week. Although you should expect a lot of time dedicated to this class due to the quantity of the work, I would not say the actual work is very difficult.
This class was interesting. Had lots of long videos and weird assignments. His textbook is $150 and the only reason you need it is to take the ch. quizzes; I didn't use it for anything else. Trigger warnings on topics not very clear, some assignments got dark. Overall a nice guy and had check-in assignments that he would answer to.
I like Jurgen a lot, he was easy to get ahold of and didn't grade harsh at all. This is not at all what i expected Psych to be like, and I still don't think this is actual psychology. It was kind of religious but not in a forcing way or anything. He is a really nice and kind of free spirited guy. The book was expensive and its mandatory.
Don't take this class. His lectures are boring and vague, the assignments are long and boring. He pushes so much information in each module, so it gives you no time to even process or retain all the loads of information in class. Text book is expensive and it's only useful to take the quizzes, which are incredibly hard and useless. Horrible class.
I enjoyed this course with Dr. Kremer. It's obvious he's passionate about this subject. Keep up with the weekly assigned modules and you will get an A.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Only way to get a good grade was to agree with his ideas. I learned nothing about psychology but a lot about shamans. Not what I signed up for and felt that it was a total waste of my time and money. His lectures made me feel bad about being on my own psych meds. I regret taking his class. Honestly he should not teach
Subject matter is so interesting, he has a great point of view on Indigenous aspects of life, really makes you think.
Took this class online and ended up dropping it because it was way too much homework and writing, didn't feel like I was really learning anything and we used his personal textbook which was pretty expensive and couldn't get my money back. I took it online with a couple other classes and couldn't handle the homework load was just way too much.
Makes you buy the overpriced textbook he wrote himself. Insane homework load. Not necessarily hard work, just a lot of work and it's boring. He claims to follow SRJC guidelines of workload but I would never take this professor again. This means you need to plan to spend at least 6 hours per week working on this class as he states in his syllabus.
I really enjoyed his class. It is not difficult to get a good grade and I say this as an average performing student. He is really nice and gives opportunity for extra credit every week. Assignments, lectures, discussion posts, and tests are challenging but not extremely difficult. He lowkey gives a lot of homework but nothing too difficult!
I overall liked this class. heavy amount of work, self paced besides weekly deadlines so you can work ahead. Final was a research paper that he breaks into pieces starting mid-semester which I loved. Quizzes have unlimited retries. the course was focused on spirituality and indigenous views in psychology. Easy to get a good grade if you try.
I really enjoy taking classes with Kremer! They are always so interesting and immersive. He really is passionate about psychology. His online courses are easy but very interesting so it balances out. When I took this class he used lectures through playposit which was how you would get graded on lectures. Please take a psychology class with him!
-you can work ahead as far as you want, which I loved, I was done with the course a couple of weeks early. -unlimited retries of weekly quizzes -interesting material -decent chucks of textbook reading -lots of extra credit -do your best and it's an easy A
I really enjoyed taking this class! He provides feedback and is always open to meet. The lectures are short but they're interactive, so you need to pay attention. Easy to pass as long as you participate! He does give extra credit and you can take the quizzes as many times as you may need. It's a very interesting class!
I really liked Jurgen's teaching style and the way he incorporated indigenous practices into the class. I was afraid since it was abnormal psych that it would be very clinical and focus on medicating people but it was not like that at all. He opened my eyes and helped me think differently about people who have severe psychological suffering.
Kremer is not a good source of credit unless you have a lot of free time and Money. The most HEINOUS part of the class is the $150 textbook (which he wrote himself), that ONLY acts as an access code to take the quizzes AND you only get access to for a year, all on top of the normal $100 to take the class. Don't take for knowledge, just credit.
Asked before semester started if lectures were recorded or if slides would be available. He replied that the class "might not be a right fit for me." No alternatives, no effort. His syllabus says "talk to me," but I guess that's selective. Psychology should teach empathy, he lacks that. If you want to learn and not get dismissed, avoid the class.
Took this class genuinely interesting to learn Psychology, but found very quickly the class had little to do with it. After buying his own book (which is just an online code which will go away after the class), you learn about his version of Psychology. Although this class mostly consists of pseudo science, this class is pretty easy.
He is a very eccentric man who has an abnormal view on psychology. To someone with an open mind and a lot of life experience such as myself I thoroughly enjoyed his insights. I took the accelerated 8-week course and found it to be a lot of information to cram into a short amount of time. Overall I enjoyed the class. Not for everyone though.
