Justin Butchert is the best RLS teacher out there. Theres not much homework or reading if any at all. Fun class, meet people, must Take!!!

Justin is a great guy! You have a lot of fun in the RLS 80 class. You meet new people and do new things. RLS 135 is a marketing class & is for RLS majors.

the best professor i have ever had. this class is the easiest A you can get and Justin makes it interesting, most of the time steering away into his own personal experiences. theres a midterm, final and paper (on your life goals...SUPER EASY). we did fun activities outside as well as inside the class. i would DEFINITELY recommend taking this class!

RA131, and RA135 Classes taught by Justin, were absolutely my favorite this entire semester. I hate group work, and these classes a have very little amount of it. Tests are pretty straight forward, Textbook is not needed for the class. He shares great personal stories, and is very personable you need additional help.

Great teacher with a great personality. The class is easy but informative. He really inspires people to get out into the public estate and experience nature. I went rock climbing in his class which was an excellent experience. Barely any quizzes and a multiple choice midterm and final.

Excellent teacher. Has experience and is passionate about the subject and very positive too. Tests and quizzes are easy, and he has a booklet with all of the class notes that you buy at the beginning of the semester. Very charismatic and friendly. :)

Justin is great. I've had him for 80 and 131. You don't have to buy a textbook, just a course packet. He's fun, interactive, personal and interested in the subject. Go to class and you'll have no trouble with an A or B. Offers lots of extra credit and is really flexible.

SO nice, and class was easy!!! The text is a course packet and has everything you need! Attendance is a must because of the class work. But easy A. You have to do 2 trips, like rock climbing and stuff. FUN!

Justin is awesome! Not only that but he is really handsome. He has so much respect for his students, and always tries his best to get everyone involved. His class was so much fun and you do so many activities. You have 1 essay, which is easy and 2 quizzes. His midterm is sort of diff. but his final can be easy. Easy A!

Justin is a fantastic teacher. I can see his passion for the outdoors just shine through him every time he talks about it and shows us pics of his trips. I enjoyed his stories. I love his sense of humor. He requires 2 field trips and some exams and some homework but no textbook, just a paper packet. The tests are ok if you pay attention in class.

Easy class. 2 trips for grades, 2 quiz, 1 midterm, 1 final. The study guide doesn't match the final much, but if you pay attention you will get it right. Fun class! Lots of chances to get extra credit. 10 points each extra trip you go on. The only thing due to him for hw is the blue papers in the packet you have to buy for $8.10 not too bad.

One of my favorite teachers. He's easy going. One of the easiest classes you'll take. He's a funny a guy. He loves the outdoors. Very handsome also, didn't even know he was 50. Haha. 100% reccomended if you want an easy going class.

Great course! Great class! Great professor! Easy 3 unit class that is very enjoyable and relaxing. If you attend lectures there is no reason to study for the tests. Lots of easy extra credit that encourages you to be active, after all that is what the class is about. Easy easy easy. And he's a cool guy too!!

Justin is one of the coolest professors at State! He has a great sense of humor and you can tell he is really passionate about what he does. There a some quizzes/tests and two presentations, but overall it is an easy A, plus you get to take field trips as part of your grade, what's not to like?

Great professor with a great attitude.I basically just turn in blue papers and do descent on exams. The extra credit brought me up to an A. Most of the extra credit came from the trips. Theres also only one essay which is very easy.

Great teacher is willing to help but he rather communicate with students who he is more familiar with.

Take this class. It is so easy! If you don't study and do bad on quizzes, you can just take a trip to the beachlake or anything outdoors and get extra credit. He sometimes tells stories and talks on and on about things you could care less about but overall i enjoyed the class.

Justin's an awesome teacher and you can totally tell he loves his job and the students. Rec 80 covers a GE and it's super fun.

He is one attractive 50 year old man, like really WOW. anyways enough about that... This class was fun and got me out of my comfort zone to try new things, also he is so kind and gives you opportunities to get extra credit. absolutely LOVE. HIM AND THE CLASS. TIP: take midterm, test, and class trips seriously. and turn in your work for an A!

SUPER EASY AND FUN! There is always easy way to earn points if you show up to class! If you don't show up you may fall behind with his points but the class is so fun you'll want to go all the time!

Justin is just amazingly inspirational. The material is very easy to remember since it is so interesting in my opinion. Just make sure to take solid notes and you'll pass the tests. Also, most of the credit is from recreational field trips so as long as you do the minimum (and more for extra credit even) you should have no problem with passing.

Extremely easy course, you have control of your grade at all time. Lots of extra credit offered, very passionate in his field of work, willing to help his students.

Prof. Butchert was really great to take for my first semester. He was always willing to help you out and work around what works best for you, It isn't the super easy A if you don't show up to class, but it was a fun one. Easy testing, tons of extra credit, just good vibes all around, he'll do anything he can to make you pass. Definitely recommend!

Hottest man on earth. His six pack is on point. I would also follow him to the end of creation (see below). No, the end of the galaxy because he's so pretty. He saved me from drowning with his strong arms when I fell into the river. Did I also mention that he's a man dime? Oh and I guess the class is ok.

He is engaging. The trips are enjoyable. He actually provides chances for trips for his classes.

Justin is a legit cool dude. He introduced me into activities I never did before such as rock climbing and sky diving. His lectures are basically stories of his. Only on essay and two tests and two quizzes. Gives a lot of EC. Easiest class on campus.

Easy class, 2 trips are mandatory but that's what makes this class great because he wants you to get out there with nature and do something. Just 1 essay but it's just about yourself and your goals. Interesting lectures & if you can't make it to your class time, you can drop in at a different class time. Always willing to help out & easy to talk to

Some might say this class is an easy A, but it's not super easy. It is easy to get an A, IF you go to class and on the trips. If you miss class you will miss stuff on the quizzes and get a bad grade. Basically just show up to class and listen to what the guy has to say! It's easy to get an A, but it is also easy not to. Just go, he's hot. So fun!

1 EASY essay. basically jut turn it in on time and you will get an A. 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. if you don't go to class you will miss out on the answers to the quizzes/midterm/final. then it wont be an easy A. he is very interesting and always tells cool stories so just go!

Took this during my first semester at CSUF! Possibly the easiest class in the world. I had to miss a lot of class due to health problems and he was more than understanding and told me not to worry about school and just to worry about my health. You have a few group presentations (which are really easy) but make sure you choose a good group!

Really cool guy. Easy material, if you show up to class. The only way to get the answers to fill in your packet, is to go to class. His lectures will typically involve a story he's experienced. No books or heavy studying required. Lots of extra credit oppurtunity.

Professor Butchert is a fun and outgoing guy. He has clear grading criteria and he makes the class easy to pass and a lot of fun. If you show up you will learn a lot. I got a C just because I skipped a lot of classes because attendance doesn't matter much and I didn't want to go at 8AM every day. He is worth taking and teaches a fun course.

By far one of my favorite classes! Easiest class you can ever take. Great Professor. If you enjoy the outdoors you will love this class. He teaches about Skydiving, hiking, rock climbing, how to use a compass etc... You have to do only one essay throughout the semester which is about your goals, very easy. You will learn a lot of great things!

The class is super easy, however, I didn't do as good as I should've. Lots of outdoor activities required to be done (2 independent field trips + 2 more trips as EC). 2 tests and 2 quizzes, but the questions are ridiculous. Attend class for notes, you'll need it. Lots of group assignments and storytelling; tons of extra credit opportunities.

Justin in really awesome. Lectures are cool, can be a little boring. No huge assignments. There is one paper you have to do about yourself. 2 quizzes, Midterm, and final. Two required field trips (i.e. beach trip, rock climbing, going to the mountains). Talk to him if you have any problems in or outside of class.

Very passionate about the outdoors. Main goal is to introduce us to amazing, life changing outdoor activities and encourage us to make goals and take care of ourselves better. Very clear about how to get an A. Very understanding and will help in every way he can. You don't have to show up, but you really should. Tests revolve around lectures

He really cares about the outdoors! Beware of group projects! I would recommend taking this class with a few friends, it will make it easier. Sometimes his lectures are confusing. There's 2-3 quizzes, a midterm and a final. They're pretty easy if you're good at memorizing things.

Butchert is a great guy and he makes the class super easy. He makes the quizzes and tests pretty easy and there is occasionally homework but you can usually get it done in class. There is also competitive and cooperative game day with the class. Overall, super cool guy and an easy A.

Great G.E course. Show up, participate, do the work and you'll pass. He makes it very easy to want to do all of these things. Other instructors on campus should def learn from this guy. Him looking as great as he does really is just the cherry on top to an excellent class.

definately my favorite class I've taken so far, easy grader. lectures are long but goes along with his book. Will open your eyes to a lot of things about parks.

Very caring professor! Test were a bit odd, but he offers extra credit that will make up for it. You must go to 2 environmental field trips on your own, so make sure to have transportation otherwise you might struggle a bit. If transportation isn't a problem this class is an easy A.

Justin's a really great guy. RA 80 is a super easy class for the GE requirement and a fun one. You only need to purchase a packet for the class, no textbook. There are two out of class trips to "places in the natural environment" meaning like the beach or a national park. I never studied for a test or quiz and I always got above a C.

Easy GE . Funny, charismatic. Just need to show up, because he doesnt put his lectures on BB. take notes. Take this class especially if you have hard classes.

He is a really great professor, It was my first time taking an RA class, the class was a lot of fun! if you are not sure who to take RA80 with, you should take it with him, not to mention that getting an A with him is not that hard, just do all the required work.

He's a really cool professor! He mainly talks a lot, but he's always cheerful and really funny! Only took 3 test which was a quiz, midterm, and final which were all pretty easy considering the test was the same and the study guide. Overall fun and great class.

He's really cool and funny. Made an early class worth going to. 1 writing assignment about your goals. 3 required field trips, Midterm, Final, 2 quizzes, in class assignments and in class or outdoor group activities. Gives study guide, no book he created his own notebook. Does not like when students leave class early, his pet peeve.

Great professor! A couple small assignments, 1 Paper, 2 quizzes, 2 required trips (on your own time), one midterm and final. No textbook required just a set of notes he made which costs around $13 you can purchase it at the kennel bookstore. However, I wouldn't recommend this class if nature environment is not an interest to you.

Fun and easy class! Professor would always send us emails letting us know the plans for the week, always had interesting lectures, gave us EC opportunities, and rarely assigned homework.

If youre looking for an easy GE class to take, take this one! Hes super understanding & rarely gave out homework. There were only about 2-3 quizzes, a group presentation, and a final but I promise its not hard at all!

Justin is an awesome professor who offers a lot of extra credit. He is clear on what he wants with assignments and although he tends to go off topic during class lectures, he assures you exactly what is on your tests. They are really easy multiple choice tests and as long as you put in some effort, it should be an easy A!

Highly suggest this class! Such an awesome professor whos super passionate about what he teaches. The assignments are very straightforward, and theres only 2 exams. Dont worry about this being one of your difficult classes :)

Probably one of my favorite teachers ever! Justin makes class fun, and it's not too hard. He talks a lot about his personal rec experiences and ties them into his lessons. He does record most lectures (during covid/online classes), but I would recommend attending class. While not required, it seems easier to understand if you present and active.

Justin is such an amazing professor & also caring! Our class was online & although he isn't strict about you having your camera on in Zoom, he appreciates it if you do. SO please turn your camera on if you can. Couple quizzes which are easy if you pay attention to his lecture and best part. 2 different fieldtrips required but worth 50 points each.

LOVED! no reading. SO much extra credit available! Class is SUPER easy. If you show up an listen to his lectures and do the really easy assignments then you are guaranteed an A. The class is really fun as well. I really enjoyed coming to this class. 2 quizzes, a midterm, and a final (All SUPER easy, at least for me bc I went to all the lectures).

I absolutely love this professor. I have nothing but good things to say about him. If you have the chance to take him for literally any class do it! He is such a respectable man and he genuinely cares about his students. He just loves what he teaches and what he does and all he wants to do is share that passion with his students.

If you put in the effort and try your best you will get an A in this class. You might not have to show up to his class to get an A but it's good to know because he explains the homework or gives answers on test or quizzes. If you don't know something it's best to send him an email. He was lenient on one of my late work but best not to procasinate.

Very easy class, had one paper on personal goals. Tests are very easy and done online with open book. In his lectures he rambles but he has some fun stories, some group projects but the work is done in class. Has 2 required field trips you do on your own time, encourages you to explore the natural environment.

One of the easiest classes and it's really fun. You learn a lot about the environment. 1 personal goals paper, it's really easy because it's about yourself. 2-3 group projects done in class. All quizzes and exams are online. He is very kind and tries his best to help you if you have any questions. He responds to emails in a timely manner

RA80 with Professor Butchert is a super chill class. Assignments are easy, and you'll learn a lot about the outdoors. Definitely use Unstuck study for quiz prep - it's a great complement to the textbook. Highly recommend this class!

Amazing professor! He wants you to explore and love the outdoors! He owned a rafting company, and gets off topic at times, but he's really caring. Attendance isn't mandatory or tracked, but I suggest going to class because he's a fun teacher. Two major field trips required, you choose Any public estate location (beach,lake,rafting trip!) Take him!

This was a great class I got to experience, he is very nice and caring and wants his students to do well. He has one writing assignment which is really easy and the other big grades are from the two trips you decide to take. He is lenient with his grading just make sure you communicate with him.

He is a nice professor. He might lecture heavily sometimes, but some of the information he provides you is very helpful when you go camping or traveling. His assignments are very easy, and you must turn them in before or on that due date because he won't extend the deadlines. He gives out extra credit also and is a very chill professor.

Easy class, only annoying thing is he spends most lectures talking about himself even though attendence is mandatory a me me me guy. He doesn't use the textbook, you're on ur own for quizzes but it's not hard. You do have to take 2 trips, all on your own, which is annoying. Had to take this for my major but I wouldn't take it again, but he is nice.
